  • Street Fighter 3 was followed by an 11-year hiatus before Street Fighter 4's release

hey guys this is retro Ralph welcome back in this episode we are gonna talk Super Street Fighter 4 of the original arcade hardware can you run this at home in this episode we're about to find out ok so first I'm gonna do an unboxing of the hardware and I'm going to show you exactly what's in the system but besides that why Street Fighter 4 well Street Fighter 4 is pretty iconic in a way because the last Street Fighter 3 game was released and then there was really this 11 year hiatus so for one there's a lot of nostalgia around the series as for was the first comeback and then followed by 5 so I really like for a big fan of 4 so that's what we're gonna focus on here today now what are you gonna do with this hardware like why Ralph because you know you can run it on all these other major platforms well for me I wanted to have a jam a connector I wanted it to be plug and play I don't want to have retro pie or you know rich or I can't run it anyway but I didn't want to have a pc-based system I really wanted to have it this system specifically for this task so building a street fighter for cabinet now you may want to mod your arcade 1 up with this I don't know but really cool system I'm excited to show it to you guys this is brand new to me so so I'll be unboxing it and seeing it for the very first time there's a couple Corrections I got to make to the video you can obviously play Street Fighter 4 on a lot of different platforms PlayStation being one of them it did have an original arcade release that's that's my bad I filmed the video afterwards so a couple quick Corrections there but I'm super excited to unbox this with you guys so let's go check it out together this is gonna be a two part series and the other part will actually so show some gameplay and then what options you might have do you want to put it in an arcade 1up do you want to build your own specific cabinet dedicated to Street Fighter I don't know then the possibilities are probably endless but let's see if this thing's even worth it so stick around and we're gonna check it out right now ok so came a day late but that's okay this is a little something I've been looking forward to receiving gonna take me a second to open it up but I've been planning on building a custom Street Fighter 4 machine but as you guys know she put it for don't believe had an actual official arcade release so it's really hard to find any systems that actually run the game outside of like a windows-based PC let alone something that actually has Jama so so pretty pretty much at the core to this I don't know exactly what I'm gonna put it in yet but I'm putting it in an arcade one up seems almost seems like that's a little crazy to do but I'm a alright so let's see we got here alright Street Fighter 4 it says features 3d back rack backgrounds and characters played on the 2d plane exclusive additions like focus attacks the ultra combo gauge blah this is the user manual so it did come with a user manual it actually came with a jam app in out which is great so this tells you exactly how things need to be wired to get this to work talks about the power recommendations actually it's interesting see this is where I'm not sure if I want to put it in an arcade one up because it says recommended display size 32 inch 42 or 55 inch LCD so I don't know almost seems like it'd be disappointing to put it on a 17 inch screen although I'm sure it would play let's see what else we have okay so some packaging here here sorry little hard to see this they have a power cord in the box let's take the box out of the way all right that's what we have left we have a power cord which is a US power cord I was a little nervous about that being a US power cord but it is so that's great so if you can see that that's good that's good for the rest of this thing and so excited right now I'm excited funny street fighter is one of my favorite games of all time I even like the new versions and a lot of people don't like a new versions as much but I think the new versions are great okay so see if we got here Wow dude this thing is legit all right so I mean from what I can see I don't know what's in this box but it says Street Fighter 4 on it has the dip switch settings it's got the Jama connection as I would expect it's got a what looks like a graphics card with both VGA DVI and HDMI outputs as well as it's got an Ethernet connection it's actually got quite a bit of things on it here there's your power supply I would assume that this is going to require both a arcade power supply and a power supply for this I'm assuming because it looks like there's a power supply in this thing as well wow this is really cool man huh I almost want to see what's inside it but I don't think I want to open it up just yet but maybe if the cover comes off easy left side what the heck let's uh let's open it up give me one second all right looks like there's three screws on this side there might be a screw on this side holding a top panel down and one screw on that side let's see me unscrew these I'm actually so excited guys about this you have no idea I know almost I would love for you guys to leave a comment in the comment section on if you would put this in an arcade one up or if you would build a custom cab for it just because I just feel like this game is so amazing the graphics are great the sounds are great I just envision having a cabinet with this in it it's got a subwoofer you know really nice speakers just seems like it would almost be a shame to put it in an arcade one up but I'd be interested to see your guys's comments to that so please comment down below and let me know but I'm extremely excited about the thought of having a dedicated street fighter for setup just cuz I love the game so much I'm not the best out of it I've gotta admit games with complex combo move systems just because I grew up with pretty basic games oh wow huh okay so interesting enough it has a through huh it's got a I don't know what kind of graphics card it is because it's got Chinese writing on it but it's definitely a pc-based system which is pretty cool wow I am like really impressed by this thing anyway I'm probably gonna fire it up just to give it a little test just to make sure everything works but um this is pretty neat anyway so that's it for the unboxing of this thing I think it's uh it looks pretty legit there are other systems like this with single games on I would imagine you could add up the other games don't see it looks like there's actually what they've done here it's almost like they've created a custom board with maybe the ROM on it cuz I don't see that looks like a memory chip that probably has a NAND flash chip on it with something probably the game so interesting pretty cool little system guys I'm gonna fire it up in a little bit and see what's up so thanks for watching and please subscribe and hit the notification bell thanks guys hey guys thanks for hanging out during the unboxing this is part one of a two-part episode so I will be back in a little while with some updates on gameplay show you guys what it looks like and give you my first-hand experiences with the system but until then please like this video please subscribe to the channel and hit that notification bell so that you can be aware of upcoming episodes thanks so much for watching and we'll see you soon [Music]
