Alright, hey folks, welcome to the stream. Today is a new pinball day, right? We got Sonic the Hedgehog and I just want to kind of like go out and say like immediately that I never thought Sonic was the IP that Jersy Jack was working with. I just thought it was just a hoax in a sense that because we had Steve Ritchie walking around in pinball shows like for the last year saying like blatantly straight out to anyone who asked that he was working on Sonic, right? And to me that is just like, really? And I thought he was working on something completely different. But here we are. We got Sonic the Hedgehog. We've seen some teasers, so everything is not new. We also had a leaked playfield and that was obviously the bottom playfield because this game has two playfields, which makes all the sense, right? The play field that we saw at that league kind of had all the traditional, you know, standard kind of Steve Ritchie shots, right? So I thought like this is going to be a snooze fest, right?
1:23
But obviously there's more to it because there's a second level and I'm sure there's like subways and tunnels and whatnot, right? And since I have a day job, I did not have a lot of time to kind of look at what has been published already. So I'm just going to walk through the website and see what I can find that kind of looks interesting. And apparently they only have a trailer. There's like no gameplay out yet. But I think that's going to change pretty fast because there's a bunch of distributors that already have their game. And I think one of them is posting a stream later tonight. So yeah, so there's gonna be plenty of gameplay to watch, right? But at the end of the day, we're just gonna judge the aesthetics and kind of talk a little bit about the shots and stuff and maybe complain a little bit about the IP, you know. Sonic the Hedgehog was relevant 35 years ago, I learned, because one of the news outlets kind of said that, yeah, Sonic is 35 years old, and it's just like, yeah, and that's it. I mean, Sonic has never done anything to me, because Sega, Mega Drive, as we call them back in Sweden, I knew one guy who had a console, we played Sonic on that one, and that was it, right? Saga wasn't relevant in Sweden until the Dreamcast came around and by that time they were shutting down. So yeah, it was a tough industry. So we got a landing page here on Jersy Jack's website, right? And this upper playfield is absolutely massive and it's one of my least favorite types of upper playfields. Please subscribe and watch part 2.

“At the end of the day, if this shoots like a Ritchie game, it will shoot like a Ritchie game. And we all know what that is like. I mean, he knocked Elton John out of the park, right?”

DRI374@ 32:45 — Affirms confidence in Steve Ritchie's design pedigree while referencing his success with Elton John

The Come on, come on, come on! I'm waiting! Let's play some pinball! It's a nice glittering cabinet there.
    4:34
Sonic's the name, Speed's my game! Sonic Speed! I love this song. Chaos Emerald Multiball. Gotta go fast. Behold, my latest creation. There is only two editions, collectors and special. So yeah, why I chuckled, like I just need to, like, you see. How do you pause it here? Like, I mean, it must be so blatantly obvious that this kind of looked like a two-story Pokemon, right? I mean, you have on the below play field here, you have like three stand-ups on each side and you got slingshots on each side, right? And then you have this guy coming out, right? Like why doesn't my space ball work? This guy comes out and works as some sort of bash toy, right? I mean it's just too funny, isn't it? Am I the only one seeing this? Look at this, the slingshot and the stand-ups there, right? So I mean, the thing is, if you bought a Pokemon and thought that was the world's best game, imagine paying for a Pokemon LE and this guy comes out, right?
    6:32
Yeah, this is hilarious. This is absolutely hilarious. And the themes are not that too far away from each other either, right? They're pretty similar, you know, like some kiddie theme from the 90s, right? This is the better card. I mean, just from that standpoint, right? Oh, I actually thought the flippers on the upper playfield looked a little bit wide, but there's a center pose there, which makes a lot of sense. Alright, so let's... Yeah, I mean, the thing is that it was kind of shot like a very short teaser, so you couldn't really see anything. Okay, there's a bunch of things you can click on here. Okay, so that is linked to pictures. Okay, so we can step through it here. Okay, so what is this? Like a spring-loaded target is fired a ball back at you. This is like the RAM on Game of Thrones or I don't know that doesn't spring back does it? It looks pretty cool though. So what's these gold micro ring LEDs? I really like these that the minute displays I think that's really creative So you can kind of get some pixelated action and graphics in your, integrated into your gameplay. I just need to check something here. It's just, sorry about the folks who are watching this afterwards on, on YouTube. Yeah, sorry. Yeah anyhow so those ring displays that you can also see that kind of in the flyby that looks pretty exciting you know you could kind of like create really cool animations with the with having like these mini displays that kind of interact with the ball all over the play field Inline drops like it
    8:42
I wonder... Is there a Dunne easy lock there you think? They're so spaced out, I mean, it kinda looks like there's a ball fits there.
    8:55
There's some skillshot stuff going on there. They borrowed the loop shot. I don't know if this is the same loop shot as on... What's his face name from American? Ryan, I think his name is, right? He had a loop in his homebrew. So that's a must, right? Pretty different way to kind of like... So this basically loops the ball out in the playfield, I think. Alright, so this is the upper playfield.
    9:31
There's a lot going on here, that's for sure. So you got the center post here and you kinda got the trough kind of feel, feeds down to left flipper, so that's pretty nice. It doesn't just drop straight on the playfield and kind of a bunch of random stuff. And you can see here how they kinda use the mini displays here. I prefer more camera movement in my pinball trailers. Yeah, seriously. Yeah, I was just like, can you just freeze the camera so we can see the playfield? Just like, forget it. I'm gonna fly by left, right, center, up, down, in, out. So, yeah, we're just gonna have to look at the pictures instead. But the upper playfield looks pretty cool, right? I mean, it looks like it has a bunch of different loops. It looks like they have some lock mech up there. I don't... or is the lock mech up there? Because it kind of looks like a little tower virtual up kicker there. And yeah, so it surely has some depth up there. That's for sure. And while you kind of get some of the vibes from the World Poketour upper play field, with kind of like wide space style flippers. But I think that's the only similarity that we can see The
    11:20
This is a fully Italian bottom and it most likely have the left kickback there which is signature on any Ritchie game. But this is as Italian bottom as it gets and funny enough there's only one ramp return.
    11:50
That feeds to the lower. That feeds to the Italian bottom. That's funny. Some bling here, custom shooter odds and it got an action button.
    12:11
Yeah, spring kickback. Yeah, that's a... Taken from the games. There's a lot of photos around the Italian bottom. Is this something I'm missing here or like this is just artwork shots?
    12:32
There are some sculpts they look nice and smooth not 3d printed Okay, so we got some lock mech here This is probably one of those New trendy things that we've seen. I saw the same kind of style on Yukon Yeti where you kind of have, but they had a much more clever lock, you know, kind of, you kind of shot under the upper right flipper and there was an up post and that kind of turned into a captive ball and it kind of looks the same here. So you have like a bash dash here, so you probably lock a ball there and then you shoot it some and then you kind of get it out. This is on two, two ball, multi ball.
    13:19
But this, this battle, they even call it a battle zone. Is it just, this is incredible, right? That like how they, how they managed to clash it. I mean, I don't, I don't, I don't accuse anyone from spying on anyone, right? But this is just hilarious. Absolutely hilarious. We can have two games within the space of six months that to a newbie looks like, oh, that must be how you build pinball. That it needs to have like a three bank stand up on each side and some slingshots. And there's also like an inline drop here instead of the captive balls. So the same basic design from that standpoint, right? The Thank you for watching! Oh, it's only 24 pictures. So that was the cabinet. Okay, so...
    15:10
Oh, you can compare the different editions here. Yeah, so the arcade edition is just... Alright, it's just black trim. No...
    15:19
No art on the... No art blades, as we call them. Excuse me. That should do it. I've been quiet all day today so it's just like oh I'm opening my mouth. Okay so arcade okay the special edition is it the same artwork same artwork but you get a little you get a little hat and you get art blades different trim The Empire is a game that is based on the original game, but it's also based on the original game.
    16:32
I'm not sure why they didn't use trim on this game for the collectors, why it's not gold. To me, because you collect gold rings all the time in Sonic, right? Isn't that the whole idea? That would have been a much better choice. I don't like the red and blue contrast, like the Toy Story kind of look. All right so this is just cabinet Yeah they again done a phenomenal job with the with a UI here This is one of the things that Jersey Jack does better than anyone else and it just ram with information here I think your opponent score should have been a little bit bigger maybe but other than that looks pretty clean
    17:30
Alright, we got a shaky motor. We got the Bluetooth and the volume rocker and wired headset and... Yeah, but I mean why not gold trim? It's just so weird. Especially for a like an anniversary. And you got any you even got glitter in the in the in the like whatever some sparkles in the in the side art here. It just doesn't make any sense.
    18:03
Anyhow, we got the Backlass and we got the Topper. Okay, so here's some other kind of features. Nine song sonic soundtrack with Slash guitar solos.
    18:24
Oh, so Slash has made custom tracks for this. That's pretty rad. Seven Zone Adventure with Boss Battles.
    18:41
Advanced RGB lighting. Wi-Fi Bluetooth, we knew that. Voice callouts by the official Sonic cast. Voice callouts from SonicTales, Knuckles, Amy, Dr. Eggman. Bring personality, humor and non-stop energy to every game, every mode, every multiple. Every boss battle has something to say.
    19:09
15,000 USD for the collectors, 12 for the special and 10 grand for the arcade. Yeah, I guess the prices are the same.
    19:30
There's a comparison chart here. But this is good. Let's have a look at this. Okay, so all models are packed with all the standard stuff, right? So the playfields are the same, right?
    19:52
Oh wait, gold wireform ramps, gold micro lead rings, sculpted micro lead rings. Look at this, they've scaled back things here on the playfield. So the playfields are not the same then? Because that doesn't used to be the case otherwise, right? Because here's obviously they've added a gold and again the gold micro LED rings, the gold Y4 ramps. Why not gold trim? Like I mean it's just... Yeah, there must be a good reason for this. I understand that it's probably like sparkly red whatever you know but yeah it doesn't make any sense.
    20:57
Okay so Slash has been part of two songs here. So it seems yeah so each zone has its own soundtrack and then I guess these are some multi balls or some other Some other moments in the game, I guess.
    21:24
Yeah, well at the end of the day, the game kinda looks pretty packed. It's very difficult to kind of understand the ball paths on it, right?
    21:38
And all I kept hearing is, oh, this is gonna be Steve Rich's flowest game ever, right? I just don't...
    21:49
Oh yeah, okay, let's see if we can follow something here. So this ramp here looks like it feeds up to the upper playfield. So I guess you cannot get...
    21:59
instead of getting a ramp return you get a ramp to upper playfield feed. And you can probably do some The Empire is a very popular game of the day, and it's a very popular game of the day.
    22:38
So it's just very difficult to get a sense of where everything feeds. Let's just look at the trailer again and see if there's anything. Yeah, deliberately you can't follow a single ball path right from the player's view.
    23:17
Sonic's the name, speed's my game, Sonic Speed. I love this song. Chaos Emeralds, Multiball. Gotta go fast. Yeah, I did not become any wiser looking at that, to be honest. But it looked like there was a rule sheet somewhere around here. Download game rules here. I don't know how well this is going to render on the stream here. A bunch of skillshots, a bunch of skillshot awards, Chao Garden, Sonic Hero Team, Sonic Super Heroes Multiball, Bash Dash Chaos Emerald Multiball, Feature Mode Supersonic, All seven Chaos Emeralds.
    25:26
So I need to collect rings to complete all checkpoints to light gold ring. Yeah, that's right. There a it one of those poles at the end of each level in Sonic that you kind of spin around somehow Damn yeah Badnik So he's not called, he's called Dr. Eggman, not Robotnik. Why do I think it was called Dr. Robotnik? I don't know, that must be something else. Is that Inspector Gadget or something? I have no idea. I'm not sure if I can get the full list of the games I'm looking for.
    26:40
Oh, there's some more close-ups here. So that's some horseshoe to feed there. Yeah, what a puzzle to kind of just figure out how this game is laid out.
    27:10
Sculpts look good though. What's that? It's like a little lightning block of swords there and there's another one there. Interesting. Same thing there. I wonder what it does. Oh, here you can see that these are plastic rings and it's just standard metal. This is on a special edition. So I guess then that the special edition and the arcade edition probably have the same play feel then. And then the collectors only get the gold and the shiny rings. Yeah, there sure as hell is a lot of shots on this game. It's difficult to follow where they feed in the back there.
    28:13
Checkpoint qualify. That little nose is gonna break off at one point. Sonic the Pledge Dog. These look pretty cool the inserts here they kind of look a bit chromatic I wonder if they've done something special to make them look chromatic yeah let's look at the this the arcade edition because at the end of the day I'm not sure if I'm going to be completely honest, but cabinet-wise, just look at this here. You get really nice contrasts with the black trim against the playfield. The Art Blades that you had on the Special Edition and the Collectors, just with the characters big faces on it, you can kind of be without them.
    29:39
Because it's all here. And it's kind of black like a Mega Drive, you know, arcade edition. Oh, not this many pictures here.
    30:05
The inserts, they look like, they look amazing. I wonder what they've done with that, if they actually look like that. Let's see if we can see that on the video again. There's so much to pay attention to. So I guess if you have some, yeah I don't know, I don't know what you would have done to make them look like that. Come on, come on, come on. I'm waiting. Let's play some pinball. Let's play some pinball!
    30:46
yeah look at the inserts here during the gameplay shoot it doesn't look like there's anything sparkly
    30:58
Sonic's the name, Speed's my game! oh oh there is don't say there is even a magnet underneath that thing just Just track the ball here in the Eggman here and see if there's a match. Sonic's the name, speed's my game.
    31:17
Sonic's the name, speed's my game. Sonic Speed. It's hilarious. Absolutely hilarious. I love this song.
    31:35
Chaos Emerald Multi-Ball. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. I'm stoked for everyone who wanted this and are getting one and so forth. I look forward to flipping one. I'm yeah I mean my my overall opinion on like what it what it looks I mean it's Sonic it looks great from that perspective the game itself it doesn't have that much you know that is brand new given we we just got Pokemon right and And at the end of the day, if this shoots like a Ritchie game, it will shoot like a Ritchie game. And we all know what that is like. I mean, he knocked Elton John out of the park, right? And nobody will ever be able to take that away from him. So I'm sure that this will shoot very similar and kind of be at that level, if not better, right? So we'll see about that once we get to play it. So Steve Ritchie, the King of Flow. At least got one hint from someone that might get one, so I might get some content on the channel soon. There's also a chance that I will be able to visit a distributor in the coming weeks as well if they're getting theirs for their showroom. So that is something that I might explore as well here pretty soon. So, anyhow, that was that. And I also took the opportunity to make an official DRI 374 Sonic the Pledge Dog T-shirt. So, check out the store and get yourself a very exclusive design to commemorate this title. So I shall see you later and see if there's someone in the parade. All right. Cheers.
