That's why you can't take that shot, but it's it's so tempting. You see those drop targets there? You got the ball coming to your right flipper. So tempting to shoot him left. Yes, Evan made a good point about Jesse as well. He just came off winning our uh seasonal tournament up at level one on Monday night. And that is not the way to do it, but he didn't have to play that one out. Y 72,000. So he's going to go into round three with zero strikes. Good for him. Way to go on that. So So Jesse Baker walks away with number one, Mark Smith number two, Jason Kelly number three, and Willie Allen, unfortunately for him, coming in fourth with picking up three strikes. That is correct. Let's take a look at the matches right now. Uh see if anything else has finished up. Uh we can tell you Genesis has finished. John Delapo gets the win in that. Boy, that's a tough group. John, Chad, Cody, and Nathan right there. That's a tough draw for all four of them. Uh looks like in stars, Wayne Rouse takes the win in that. Uh Joe Embry comes back and gets a win in Iron Maiden in Big Game. It's going to Todd Dennis. Uh firepower goes to Kit Burke. So, great job by her, you know, to take the win on that machine there. So, we're starting to see some of those results pour in. Um, and we can tell you right now based on current standings, John Delapo, Jesse Baker, the only two players that have currently uh come in with zero strikes after their two rounds. On the flip side, very surprised to see B struggling here. Bo Pendleton, uh, two rounds in a row. Now, you can see he's, uh, he's gone to the numbers. Yeah. Well, you hate to see that when you start getting those double digits next to your name, right? When when it stops showing you how many strikes and it just says we're just going to show you a number by your name. That's not the look you want this tournament. So, B is going to maybe be one player that is in risk of uh being eliminated next round. And I would imagine we're probably going to have at least one grouping to see those six strike players all up against each other. So, we'll see someone eliminated. I I love those rounds. I love the rounds where everybody's fighting for their life. Yes, those are really fun. So, um, the Bo Pendleton fan club, by the way, is in chat. That would be Meg. Hi, Meg. Oh, hi, Meg. We'll give him extra support. So, um, if you look at the at the rundown, I'm looking trying to figure out where the biggest sort of surprises are. You pointed out Bo Pendleton. I pointed out Adam Robinson. I think Nikki's in there for me, too. I I'm surprised to see Nikki where she is. I'm surprised to see Matt Goslin. Um well, I guess he's he's only got one. Yeah. And anybody with the dots, of course, is um Meg, we were just glad you I was reading that wrong. I was reading her him under six, but no, he's only got one. Okay, he's a good And anybody with the dots, their game is still going on. So, we'll uh switch between back and forth here. See these games begin to end. Of course, now that Jungle Queen score has been entered, and you know, some of the games that are still going on, we're not surprised those games are still going on because they do run a little bit longer than a jungle queen would. Yeah, it's just the the DMs are always the first ones out, aren't they? They they run fast unless you have amazing ball control like we saw with both, I think, Jason and Jesse in their games. Yep. Or you just trap a lot. That's right. Take breaks and sips of coffee. Take your time. There's There's nothing wrong with that. You know, we want you to get up to the machine to start playing soon, but once you're at the machine, you control the pace. You control the flow however you want to. If you want to trap up and take as much time as you need, dack on it, take a break. Yeah. As long as you keep a finger on that button, you're fine. Absolutely. So, we'll switch and show you here while we have a moment. We want to thank all of the sponsors for Cincinnati right here. Uh Penn Stadium Lights has sponsored um some machines, some of their equipment for the stream today. Speaker light kits as well. Pinball. Um, couple of great establishments both here and in Louisville. Um, Arcade Legacy here in Cincinnati and Rebard down in Louisville. Kentucky Fried Games. So glad to have you guys. Very happy to have them. Tilt Amusements of course uh Trent uh fine establishment up in Delaware just north of Columbus and the What the Flip Pinball channel as well. Appreciate their sponsor. That is I believe Lindsay's uh Twitch channel. Make sure you give them a follow right along with the channel you're watching on right now, Straight Down the Middle, Pinball, SDTM Pinball. So, we're glad you're here watching. I was noticing, too, um, some of the some of the sponsors that come have tables here. And so, if you're coming to the show and you're curious about something like Speaker Light Kits, go see their table. They're here. Absolutely. And you can talk to them about u about what they can offer you. As you can imagine, it's mostly speaker light kits. That's right. Or pin stadium lights. Pinadium lights. I don't know if Pin Stadium is physically here or not. I know Scott is um Scott's here. Is he here? Yeah. Nice. Well, at least I kept seeing his stuff, so I hope so. I would hope so. I hope somebody's keeping an eye on him for him. I haven't seen Trent here this year from Shilt Amusements. Uh Trent Bo Pendleton is is here on behalf of Onalf of Okay. Uh Trent, I believe, is uh playing for his Stern Pro Circuit Life down in Florida. Wow. Because there are there are Stern Cro Circuit events as well this weekend both in North Carolina and Florida. So, it is a sensationally busy weekend. Wait, there's two Pro Circuit events in the same weekend? There are two Pro Circuit events the same weekend. I believe the last two of the year. Wow. As well. So, so this is important stuff. Well, then we can forgive him for not joining us. I suppose we can. Oh, it's moving. Our camera's moving. Here's the move cam. On it. No, no username. There is You are If you want to watch QVC, man, we will happily QVC all of these wonderful sponsors because they are very, very We can sell you some stuff. What do you want? We appreciate them. Yeah, we'll we'll sell you pinball stuff. I know. We can get a great katana. There you go. I Hey, I I bet some of the pinball machines on the floor are for sale. That's true, actually. That's right. I just sold one yesterday. Hey, there you go. What'd you sell? Uh, Sorcerer. Nice. So, Gilbert uh was really interested in Sorcerer, and I was Yep. Nice. I was interested in having somebody have it. So, that worked out great. So, let's see where Eric is moving us to. It looks like he's got a setup on Medieval Madness. He does. And it looks like that game is in progress. So, he moved to a game in progress. That's bold. He did admire it. And and we appreciate the players there, too. That's not something that, you know, we ever expect. Yeah. You know, but we appreciate all four of the players on this, Joel, Larry, Josh, and Rachel being cool with us switching over to that game. Thank you for pausing. You know, that's something we talk about on on a regular basis in tournament play is it's hard to do. You know, you have to get used to the pace being a little bit different as a result of it being a tournament. There are pauses. there are, you know, you have to account for the possibility of a ball, you know, to get stuck. So, yep. All things that are you have to consider and it takes a little getting used to, for sure. A pinball just reminded us too, there is a big tournament in Sweden. There is. That's right. So, you know, international whopper points being handed out as well. Love it. You know, everyone getting their getting their play in before Thanksgiving. I would love to play in an international tournament someday. I just would love to get overseas at some point. Yeah. Yeah, that sounds good. have to get out of the country. I like it here. I don't want to don't want to start that conversation. But Scott said he wants to leave this country. Only if I can go to Japan. I I would love to explore the culture over there. Japan's a cool place. I was there earlier this year. I know you were not in That's That's why I wasn't in at the Kentucky Finals. That's right. It was amazing. Uh so right now, who are we looking at? We're looking at Joel Bergentino. Yes. At 27 million. Not a bad score for a tournament on Medieval Madness. I mean, he's on he's starting ball three at 27. I think my highest ever tournament score on Medieval Madness is like 32 because this is a game where if you you can blow one shot and you're out. You can. And it's I'm interested to see if the strategy is similar here as we've seen it at our local medieval madness, which is is it castle all day? It is castle. It's castle all day, but you're going to pay for it. That is the risk of castle depending on how your machine you're going to pay for it. So I I've seen two approaches here. Um, and both are met with equal levels of frustration, but one is castle all day, which means just go for that center, get the drawbridge, get the door, uh, and hope you don't drain down the middle. The trouble is when you're playing a one ball game, the odds of that happening are pretty high. Uh, sort of like the bell and AC/DC we were talking about. Correct. The other strategy I've seen is go for those lock shots, those green arrows right there to the left of the castle door. Yes. Lock three and use that to batter down the castle door. Use that. see a lot of people playing it. Larry with a really tough left side draw right then. He is going to end this and unfortunately take three strikes. So he will go to four strikes after this game. I want to know who got that that score right there. 300 million on this machine cuz that is impressive. That's pretty impressive. It was Josh Noble. They may have taken the glass off. I'm going to That's what I'm going to say. Yes. I would never accuse someone of that. Awesome. Oh yes. Oh, good ball saver. That's rough. So, ball seven. Oh, he did get the ball save. He got the ball save. Yep. Snuck that in there. Madness has a notoriously tight ball save. Frustratingly short ball save. And he is going to tilt. He is for sure going to tilt. So, there's your tight tilt, Bob, right there. So, let's see where Josh ends up here. I mean, yeah, he he was leading at 58 mil. So, not a terribly. If you're going to tilt out ball three, that's the score to do it with. Tilt when you're winning. 58 mil is a healthy healthy tournament score and seeing what Chad's saying in Chad he's like castle all day center drain all day still worth it. I would argue if you have an opportunity at the multiball take it but definitely don't take it as you said with the thought in mind that you're doing anything multiball. Okay, that's perfect. Okay, we'll stay medieval. I think it's fun that Chad is joining our conversation from inside the tournament. I love when people do that. You know, KB slasher Ross, I don't know if he's here. His brother obviously is Joel is his brother who who we're watching right now. So, um I think Joel's nephew is Ross. Joel's nephew. That's right. Yes, you got it right. I'm I'm playing Ross to be older than he is, right? I should know better than now. He He plays pinball like a guy who's been playing pinball for 30 years. He does. He's He's a really strong player. Yes. What I can't figure out is how Chad can hear us right now. Um maybe I'm trying to hunt him down. Is he under the table? Where is Chad? How does he do it? We're going to have to have a conversation with him about that. Chad is fresh off a win in the uh Northern Kentucky Pinball League. He was We were talking about that on on the Monday stream. Yeah. Oh, and that's great for Rachel right there. Two in a row. Rachel does, I believe, take third place in this. We'll see those scores in a minute. And yes, third place for her. So, that means Rachel will take two strikes. Uh Josh will will not take any. Joel will take one and Larry will take four. Larry's going to take Oh, that's going to take Larry to four. That hurts. Yeah. And unfortunately with a game like Medieval Madness, 1.7 isn't that uncommon even among great players like Larry. Larry's been in the pinball scene in Cincinnati for years and years. He's a really decent player and that's the game you have on Medieval Madness sometimes. It very very much is. So, let's see now uh with the matches that are done if there's any matches left. Uh I believe there is only one match left. That is uh WWF Royal Rumble with Tim Staxon, Miles Crawford, Steven Shely, and Wayne Indic. That's a tough group right there. Yep. Um gives us an opportunity also to show you kind of a better look at the standings and where everybody currently stands. Um as it stands, we we are going to have officially four players that um are going to survive into the next round with no strikes. Nick, Nick Delahanty, Ken Gunther, local player, Jesse, local player, and Johno Cleveland. So, you called it at the beginning. You said John Delapo was going to clean house. So far, John Delapo's cleaning house. I had a feeling. I think ranking wise, I think he's the highest ranked player here out of everybody so far. And I'm not going to bet against him. I've seen too many people try try and do that. I we saw him win the amazing race uh earlier this year up at level one with maybe one of the most calm efforts I've ever seen really on Adam's family. Just stood up to the machine. Just zen. Zen. It really was. And and that's his style of play. It is It is slow in a good way. It is meticulous and done really, really well. Michael Dawn's dropping. Michael Dawn is dropping gifts to us. Look, we got sugar. Got some fudge. I got some brownies. Feel free, by the way, my water if you're at Cincinnati or just in the neighborhood to come bring us gifts whenever you like. I'm dying for a coffee right now. Feel free to bring one by. Pretty sure it's not a uh violation of Twitch to in this case sake. You can come bribe us. We'll just say hi. We'll just say hello. You can bribe us for hellos and hugs. That's right. I don't think Yeah, I don't think we're breaking the Well, maybe. Maybe a little bit. No, I'm going to go with it. I'm going to go with it. It's okay until someone tells me otherwise. Player three is up on Royal Rumble. Pinball Nerds podcast coming in. I'm going to switch to that window so you can see it here. Carrie Zenwing is one of my favorite Zen player. Yeah, she plays that same way, too. Oh, got the Zen vibe. Got the Zen vibe going on. Yeah. How do you do it? I mean, I I I have never been able to manifest that in a tournament scenario. Is it just years of meditation? How do you How do you get into it that much? That's a good question cuz I don't think I've ever been able to do it either. I don't think I've ever done it. Even when I do this stuff, like I'll get up there, I'll breathe, I'll count to 10 and and I'm still twitching on the inside. Yeah. And to be able to do that even further on a multiball. Yeah. Is when it really, really gets impressive. You know, you see someone like John have two balls trapped on one flipper, one on the other, and have absolutely no fear, no worry. What's happening? It's just I know what shot I want next, and I'm going to hit it. And probably 75 to 80% of the time, then they do it. Yeah. Then they actually do it, right? It's one thing to have the patience, then it's another thing. It's next level to then have the confidence to say, I'm going to hit this shot and it just doesn't matter, right? And they do every time. Oh, I love it. Every every time, by the way, we were wrong. We do have one LCD screen over there. We have an Iron Maiden. Oh, we do have Iron Maiden. Not considered the Owen machine. Yes, of course. I know. So, I'm when I get up there to do like, let's say I can trap two on a flipper. Yes. I am just so I'm so excited that I have two trapped that that third one goes to nonsense. Like I'm just so excited that I did the thing that then I'll I'll just ping it off something and lose it and then you have to get into cradle separation which is another level of of play. I appreciate pinball nerds comment. I mostly use craft beer among other legal mellowers. There you go. Since I'm here in Canada. Well, you know, you do what you got to do. How is the craft beer scene in Canada? Pinball nerds. I would like to answer this because I'm not a beer drinker. I would love to know. I mostly drink whiskey. I'm a wine and bourbon guy. Are you? Yeah. Mixed? No. Fortified. But if someone can come up with a way to combine those into one drink other than say a bourbon barrelaged wine. Yeah. Which, by the way, those are very good. Are they? Yes, they are. I don't I never drink wine. So, when I go to a restaurant and somebody shows like, "Do you care about the wine list?" And I'm like, "I would be the worst at this. I'm just going to order the cheapest one. I don't know what's good." So, good for folks who actually know what they're doing. I'm not going to claim I know what I'm doing. I'm just gonna say I enjoy it and I enjoy trying different wines. Yeah. So, I'm still very much a rookie at it. That would that would be the fault of my wonderful girlfriend getting me hooked on that. Oh, really? I got her hooked on the bourbon. She got me hooked on the wine. Yeah. So, it's a good trade-off that way. I think it's an important distinction between getting your partner hooked on it and driving them to drink. Very true. You You did the right thing. The other thing is not as great. Agreed. Agreed. And if I'm driven to it, in fact, I avoid it like the plague, you know. I know myself too well. If I get bummed out, it's like I It's the funniest thing. When I used to walk into Level One, it would be, you know, if I walked up to the bar and I ordered a drink, they'd look at me and say, "What good thing just happened to you?" Well, that's a nice feeling. It's a very good feeling because they they they know me well enough to know. It's like, I'm I'm going to drink water if I'm not feeling good. Good for you. I have made the other mistake and it's not good. Next round is up. We're pushing the big red button. This is going to be a fun group. Rudy Soup, what's going on? Good to have you with us. Good to have you here. Appreciate it. A little bit of an honor. I watch Rudy Soup podcast. I do watch I watch him on Twitch. Yeah. One of the Buffalo Pinball players. Yeah. Rudy Soup. I appreciate all the Buffalo Pinball guys. That's the truth. You know, they they've rated our channels on a regular basis. And uh a good bunch up there. I'd love to make It's not far from Columbus. I should make the trip sometime. Yep. Just to go hang. I love their uh their podcast as well. I don't know if you listen to the pinball. Yeah. Y love it. Love the reviews on there. That's actually how I learn about a lot of pins coming down the pike. That's awesome. Does they cover them on there? Speaking of the legend themselves, the Buffalo Pinball is in the house. So glad to have you, Buffalo Pinball. That's right. Love your podcast. Appreciate you. Appreciate you being a part of of the online scene here and appreciate everything you do for pinball up in the upper part of New York State. Absolutely. All right. Yeah, this is going to be a fun group right here. Two strike group. So basically an average second place finish. Yeah. Uh among the first games. So you've got Michael Dawn, Kyle Ko, and it is pronounced Ko. Yes. When you look at it, it looks like Cook. I made that mistake. And much like Ve, uh I had it in my head wrong. Kyle Ko, Matt. Yep. Yeah. Um so this is a really interesting So Kyle Ko is fresh off a win in the B divisions uh of the Arcade Legacy Selfie League. So he's he's coming in highly confident this weekend. He is. Michael Dawn put on one of the most impressive tournament performances I've ever seen two years ago at the Cincinnati Pinball Championship. He hadn't played a pinball tournament in 25 years. Yes. And he walks into the Cincinnati Pinball tournament. Cincinnati Pinball Championship. And I think I was there for this. I think I played destroyed it. Yeah. Just destroyed it. And you're watching Michael Dawn play now. Now he likes uh Medieval Madness. his his Achilles heel uh is that when he gets worked up, he tilts a lot because he gets very physical. I mean, you'll see him when he loses a ball, he'll jump. Uh you'll see him get physical. So, he has to watch out for that tilt because this game is set tight. I mean, we've already seen two tilts uh just at the tail end or one tilt just tail end of the last game and one double danger. We very much have, but about as talented of a player as you're going to find in this tournament today, Mike D. Yeah, been playing for a long time. Back into the scene now. I am pretty sure he is well qualified for the Kentucky State Championship. Oh, he's got to be. I'd have to look and see what the number is, but I'm sure he's uh probably top five in the state of Kentucky. He's got to be. And you can see the IF rank really built over just about, you know, a 2-year period. He's already up to 341. Wow. Big time. Isn't that something? Yeah. Here's Kyle Ko stepping up. You can read what the shirt says. I can't quite read it. My eyes are not that good. Whatever it is, I bet it's hilarious. So, Kyle and I actually work together. We're we're co-workers and one night I invited him to play pinball. And um he never looked back. That was It's your fault he's here. Yeah, it's my fault he's here. Appreciate all your least I can do. He has never looked back. I mean, he's just been all in and he's been playing great pinball. That is great. So, see if he's he's going to kick it right back into that catapult now. It looks to me like he's shooting center. I think he is. I don't think he's intending for catapult shots, but it could have a very welcome benefit here. Yeah, it might might help. And that is if he completes the move, suddenly your Merlin magic shot becomes and you drained unfortunately. So, we'll have to just talk about it. Hurts. It it opens up the possibility for a two ball multiball. Yep. Now then the question becomes, do you try and get the two ball as quickly as possible or do you change your strategy at all to try your hand at getting another mode? Be it trolls, be it joust. I would think joust would be the easiest one cuz sometimes those ramps you really need nice precise shots to get them and the orbits are easier to progress. Yeah. Um basically to make it a three ball instead of a two ball and should you hit the shots, not that you're trying to increase your potential super jackpots. Yep. It's beneficial to do that. My strategy on this game, and it's it's not everybody's, is I immediately go to the ramps because the center is so dangerous. And when you shoot the ramps, you're qualifying for that two ball multiball. As soon as you complete one of those um side modes, you're qualifying for two ball multiball. So, um I will go to the ramps as much as I can until I get to a two-ball. And the second I start that two ball, I'm just going for the center. Okay. That way, I get one castle. From there, I start shooting the three ball lock for Castle 2 because I'm not playing a castle without more than one ball in play. So, your play is go for the madness multiball as soon as it's available. Get a madness. Everything else be dang. Y Okay, it's get a madness, kill a castle, get multiball, uh castle multiball, then kill a castle. And maybe the good flip side to this is we watch Matt Godson do his flip side. I like that. Matt has been a someone I've known well even before pinball scenes. Um, I knew him back all the way to the late '9s, back when we both were attending another event that has been rekindled here in town called Cincy Classic. No kidding. Um, we were both uh attended that show. I know him through Larry Scott, who I've known for, for pretty close to 20 years now. Um, so yeah, I know him kind of we're sim we're similar uh spirit animals. We're retro game guys who pinball. Yeah. Very cool. You know, more so than say necessarily, you know, pinball. So, this is this is not your primary incarnation. Uh, this is the reincarnation. The reincarnation because I probably do more pinball now than I do retro gaming. I dig that. But and and we, you know, it comes back around every year at Replay FX because I help run the console lounge, right? I go to Replay FX and spend four days not playing pinball. That That has got to be heartbreaking. It is a little bit. I don't know how you do it. It's heartbreaking when you're halfway across the expo and that's when you're watching Holly Koskin win the big women's tournament. Seeing your fellow Columbus person do it. You don't get to see it in person. You're you're literally screaming from 200 feet away going go Holly
