Hey guys, welcome back to another episode of the Flipside Podcast. I'm your host Retro Ralph. This is a special edition. I wasn't expecting to make a podcast today because I'm starting to get ready for TPF. I leave tomorrow, but I got a little special something something that dropped today this morning. So I figured, Hey, let's talk about it real quick. Now keep in mind, this is very, very early preliminary information. So you're going to get a first glimpse, but there may be, I just woke up. It's like really early in the morning. I'm doing that thing where I'm trying to get information to you guys, but I'm, I'm very, very tired. But anyways, guys, quick disclaimer. I had to rush this morning to put this together and I am definitely not an expert on the original Whitewater or a lot of those games of that era. I am definitely more of a modern pinball guy, although when I do go to Electric Bat I get exposure to some of these games, but I'm definitely no expert. So if this game does pay respects to the original game in ways I might not notice those things, but definitely put them in the comments below because I'm always trying to learn new things. I did notice something. I did some a little bit of minor research on whitewater and I did notice there's a ramp on the left hand side of this Chris Turner game, which is very similar to whitewater. So I think there's probably a lot of little respect paid to the original, especially because it's the same designer that designed this. But anyways, let's get back to the video. Just want to keep that in mind. And I did have to rush to put this together, so I'm just throwing it out there. All right, let's get back to the video. Before we get started, let's hear a word from our sponsor, Flip N Out Pinball. All of the description is in the description below. So anyways, it's always exciting when we have new pinball day, but sometimes new pinball day comes at a complete surprise. So this morning, Turner Pinball announced their new game, Yukon Yeti. So this game is a follow up, I think, to Whitewater. It's not called Whitewater 2, obviously, but it's by the same designer, Dennis Nordman. So I'm going to show you guys the trailer really quick and then we'll kind of talk about it. I have a bunch of pictures too. But I was really excited about this. So if you're listening on the audio version, maybe flip over to YouTube for this one so you can actually see the game itself. So let's get into it and share the trailer. And I really am curious what you guys are going to think about this. I think this looks actually really cool. So this is one of those things where the first couple games for Turner, I was a big fan of what he was doing. I wasn't necessarily a giant fan of the themes. This one, this one's really interesting. So let's check it out. Have you seen a Yeti around here? Hairy? Big feet? Handsome? Come on, stranger. Shoot that ball. Rapids, fires, avalanches, and... First of all, look at this thing. This thing looks amazing. Uh, alright, well, okay, let's, let's let it play. Gold galore! This is Yukon Yeti! Okay, so we got an upper playfield, which is really cool. Don't slow down now! Opportunity waits for no one. It's like the Whitewater had an upper playfield. You'll never find my secret stash. But I don't even have one. 180 ramp. There's a little more of the upper playfield. You're a Wally one. There's a lot packed in here. Why does everyone keep saying that? Okay. This thing, this little elevator thing, I don't know what this is, but this is cool as hell. So there's like this, it looks like maybe you lock the balls on this, on the mountain? That's what it looks like to me, but that's, that's pretty cool. Cold out here. Avalanche! Multiball! Oh man. Okay, that's freaking badass. The girls are rooting for ya in Yukon Yeti. Wow, okay. And he's got um, looks like, I don't know, I don't know if he had those. I'm watching you and always watching you. Did he have the, the, the um... Did Turner have those lights in Ninja Eclipse? No, he didn't have them in Ninja Eclipse and I don't think he had those in... Man, I can't remember. But that's kind of a cool addition. So he's got some lighting. And excuse me if I'm wrong, I don't know enough about Merlins, but I definitely don't remember seeing those in Ninja Eclipse. But this looks cool. You know, why did they not show this ramp, this like... Rolling ramp though. They didn't show any balls going down that, but that I don't, I can't really figure out where, where you get the ball to go to that. I'm not, I'm confused by that. Where, I don't know. Anyways, I don't know how you get the ball on this ramp, but this ramp is badass. That's cool. So you got this cool ramp. You got this like mountain thing that looks like a ball lock that, that you get the multiball avalanche. There's a bunch of like hidden shots that, it's too early in the morning. I really looking at this for the first time so you seeing it the same time I seeing it there some pictures too I run this well actually you know we just we just run the beginning of the trailer one more time and then I gonna show I have a bunch of pictures but I literally looking at this as you are I have not had a chance to really look at anything because Chris sent it over really late last night So I was already sleeping because I went to Electric Bat tournament night Anyone seen a Yeti around here? Hairy, big feet, handsome? Come on, stranger, shoot that ball. Rapids fires, Amelie! It looks really cool, man. Wow, I think people are going to... I'm very excited to play this at TPF. Gold gulchers and gold galore! This is Yukon Yeti! I just love that we're getting a, you know, I think maybe Barrels, maybe Barrels has warmed people back up to original IPs. I know Kong technically was an original IP, but you know what I mean, like, because it was their own spin on it. There haven't been a lot of original IPs. It's always been licensed stuff. So this is pretty cool. Cool. And what a cool idea to kind of make it a success with the whitewater. Wow, there's a lot in here, man. I mean, it's all kind of in the back, but what a cool map. I love this. I feel like Turner might be, this might be Turner's game, man. This might be the time where Turner gets the attention. I mean, here's the thing. If you've never, if you've never played a Turner pinball machine or spoken to Chris Turner, he's a super passionate dude. He puts pride into his work for sure. The quality of the product is there. He just hasn't had a title I think that's really hit with people. I think this is gonna be the one man. That looks pretty amazing. We'll see. I don't know. You know, sometimes the Turner games, they're, they're, you know, they're kind of a small shop. So sometimes like the animations and stuff aren't like quite as, you know, they're not quite at the level of, of, you know, like Stern, what Stern can do. He's also a really small studio. Wow, that's really cool though. All right, let's look at these pictures really quick. I wanna know what you guys think. I'm looking at it for the first time, so I'm sorry. I don't have a ton of detail. Like there's probably gonna be a bunch of detail that comes out tonight, you know, or today during the day. So I'm kind of giving you what I have, which is basically, I just got it. So, all right, let's see. So there's the cabinet. It looks like there might be two additions of this cabinet though. I'm not sure... Yeah, that mech is cool. The mountain mech? That's what I'm going to call it for now. All right, so that's the machine. Machine looks pretty nice. I like the white powder coating over the blue. Kind of reminds me of... The white kind of reminds me of the color scheme on the original Jaws, you know, a little bit of the whites and blues. I like that. It looks really cool. Looks like he's got speaker lights on it. I like those RGB lights on the side too. This thing looks really cool. I wish I had like a shot breakdown because I can't tell how you get to this ramp on the side at all. I mean, it's there and they didn't show it in the trailer. They didn't show a ball going down it in the trailer. I'm just trying to figure out maybe, you know what? Maybe this mountain, maybe there's like a way that this mountain dumps the first ball. I mean, it was showing the balls go down for the avalanche, but I wonder if there's also another way that this actually dumps a ball on the top of this to this ramp on the way down. I'm not sure, but I like that. That ramp is cool. You don't see stuff like that very often. Okay, like, you know, creative ramp designs nowadays. I mean, obviously, like, Barrels of Fun is doing a lot of creative layouts. You know, Stern's last like kind of creative layout, where they went like over the top and weird would have been X-Men, Uncanny X-Men. Okay, so it looks really nice. I think Chris is pushing his pin access thing. I'm not really sure if that's ready or not. I will get more details on that. I think that's his scoring tracking insider connected ish type thing. I don't know enough about that to talk intelligently about it. But I think that's what his pin access thing is. Okay, so this says legendary edition, so there must be two editions of this. So maybe there's one where you lose like some of the speaker lights and lighting and things like that. I'm not, I'm not sure. We'll have to, we'll have to, we'll have to dig into that as the days go by or at, at TPF. I mean, look at all the sculpts, like the, the mountain sculpts, the way that water is frozen over that one section, like that's cool as hell. Like the details in here. It's really nice. I'm intrigued by this ramp and look there's lighting underneath it. I didn't notice that until just now. Like there's this lighting underneath it. How the hell does a ball get up there? Get in there? Because it starts at the top of the, it starts like at the top of the cabinet. I wonder, see, I don't think this Yeti guy moves or anything. I think he just lights up. Like in the original Whitewater you had, you know, the animated character. There's no animated, it doesn't look like he's animated. It just looks like his eyes light up. That would have been a nice touch That would have been like a final touch I sure this game looks like it would have been expensive to make all this stuff and get a lot of scopes and everything so I can see where they might have said we got to shave off costs somewhere But it would have been kind of cool if he moved But I sure someone will come up with a mod for it if the game ends up being popular Okay add a ball the bridge Right, this shot goes to the bridge. Narrows. Yeah, I don't know where everything goes yet. So that's kind of interesting. We'll get a breakdown of that, I'm sure. That must be the back glass art. Let's see, does that match the art on the cabinet? That should. That's the back glass art. Let's see if that's the same. Yeah, okay. Yeah, if you're listening to this on the audio, I might just publish this. I think I'm just going to publish it on video because there's no point in really watching and listening to this because I'm describing what's going on and you can't see anything. I don't know. I might publish it anyway. But dude, I love also the Jon Snow capped mountains. Like, that's cool, man. Cool, man. Like this is really detailed. I love this. I mean, I think there's definitely most of the stuff is in the back, you know, but there's there's a shot on the side over here. Let's see. I think in the trailer there is like a little shot over here that goes behind this flipper, I think. So like most of the stuff is in the back. But I see I kind of like that when I have clear line of sight to what I'm going to shoot. I like that. I know I know some people don't. They want like everything. They want it full in the middle, too. But I like that it's kind of pushed. It's kind of reminds me of, you know, there's there's less than Let's go on and just makes it easier to shoot everything. I don't know, some people, yeah, because there's a shot on the right. Some people prefer just packed stuff everywhere. I don't mind when a game is like this. I actually kind of prefer it sometimes. So that's really neat, man. Look at all that. It's really pretty. I think it's pretty. The artwork is nice. It's really cool dude. I mean this is go go Chris Turner so I'd love to this in this mech this mech is badass I love this this takes the ball like up the mountain our balls up the mountain I just I'm I just I need to understand what how you get to this like twirly ramp we'll watch the video one more time but I swear he didn't he doesn't show that I'm almost positive unless I'm that exhausted and I missed it I don't think there's there's uh in the trailer anything I'm sorry if my energy level is a little low. My wife is still sleeping and I'm trying to be somewhat respectful to that. Anyone seen a Yeti around here? Hairy, big feet, handsome? Come on stranger, shoot that ball. Rapids, fires, avalanches, and gold galore! Yeah, see, alright, he's showing like an over, he's showing like this overshot of the playfield, which is cool, like John Youssi everything. This is Yukon Yeti! But when he starts showing play... Don't slow down now! Opportunity waits for no one. Okay, so that shot underneath the Yeti goes to the top. It must have a Vuck and it pops to the top. Okay, got that. You'll never find my secret stash, but I don't even have it. I don't know where that shot went. You're a wily one. Yeah, there's that little hidden area. Why does everyone keep saying it's cold out here? That thing's so cool about mech. I'm really excited about that. And this. Multiball! That's so cool man. I just I don't understand why he wouldn't have showed that left ramp. It does something. It's not just there. Yeah, and Yukon Yeti. Right? And what do you guys think? It has to be a ramp. It's not just an aesthetics thing. Yeah, because yeah, you can see there's a wire form toward the end of it, it looks like. And I don't know what that little flap does. I'm not sure what's going on there. I'm very intrigued. I want to know why you get there and what it because I got it the ball. Why wouldn't you show that in the trailer? Like that's such a cool ramp design. Yes, I don't think he moves because they show right here if he moved, they would have showed it. It just looks like his eyes light up. But hey, you know what? Minor things there's obviously that would be cool. Subscribe. I don't know, I just think it's pretty neat that everyone's kind of pushing the envelope here. So here's the thing, like, alright, I'm interrupting my own video for a little bit of the details. I didn't realize I had this. So this is basically the information about the game. You know, the game, Yukon Yeti. This is the legendary edition that I showed in the video. There's some upgrade options, though. There's going to be about 500 of these units made. They're going to cost 10 grand and you'll have the two grand deposit. If you want, you can go straight to Turnerpinball.com for more information. This is the, it says Yukon Yeti is a gold rush pinball adventure featuring avalanches, rapids, hidden treasures, blah, blah, blah, blah. So, so pretty cool. Key gameplay features There 12 base modes plus two wizard modes So I didn know that going in There that five ball avalanche ball lock There the wavy rapids ramp which we didn get to show because they don show it in the video. A dual path upper playfield, a hidden Yeti ball lock, trading post progression, Yukon Yeti sculpt centerpiece, a goal rush theme inspired by Klondike. Okay, it says base game includes, you get the powder coated armor, you get the five 5 Ball Avalanche Lock, Hand Painted Sculpts, Removable Glass Frame, that's kind of Turner's thing, the RGB lighting that's on the glass frame, and Premium Cabinet Construction. Okay, so the optional upgrades is there's, you can add $2,250 bucks, so the whole total game cost would be $12,249, and then you get the topper, oh, a topper with articulating Yeti head, okay, I don't even think we saw that in the video. Anti-reflective glass, shaker motor, premium sound with speaker LEDs. Okay, so the way I showed it in the video is with all the stuff. So 12,249. So he's, you know, kind of competitive with everybody else. But man, so all right, those are those details. Now let's get back to the video. This is probably, you know, even though even though Turner hasn't done a big IP yet, this is and Whitewater was an original IP too. This is a game everyone knows. Everyone knows Whitewater. So I think I'm going to guess at TPF, this is going to be Chris's come out party. Not come out. That sounds bad. I'm so tired. I just woke up. I'm really, really exhausted right now. No, like I think this is gonna be the party for him at TPF. Like there's no way that people aren't gonna be excited to play this and check this out. So I'm excited because I'll be going to TPF with Jamie. We will probably definitely be playing this. He's gonna be excited. He doesn't know this. He doesn't know that this is out yet. Well, he might now when this is published, but wow. All right. Well, that's it. That's all I got. I just wanted to show that to you guys really quick because it's something new. We just got it. refrigeratebats.com Okay The I'm sure Ralph Live, but appreciate the support guys. I am sorry. I'm messing with my mixer here. I don't know what to say other than I think Turner might have a hit on his hands. If it plays good. What's going on with my music? Yeah, if this thing plays good then Turner Turner's coming. He's coming with the Thunder baby. He is. I feel like he is. I'm impressed. I don't know. It's one of those things where it's early in the morning, my brain isn't really working yet, but I like what I see. And I feel like the reaction is going to be very positive from the community on a game like this, especially knowing that the original designer of Whitewater is involved in it and designed it. And also, it's, I mean, it's packed with stuff. It looks really fun. So we'll see. Do all the other elements make it fun, right? Because the video, you know, the LCD screen, the rules and game code has to be there. But from a layout perspective and the mechs that I'm seeing and kind of the shots look really fun. If the other stuff is there, I think some people are going to be interested in looking at tournament games. I'm Turner Pinball and that makes me happy because I feel like Turner has had some success, but this might be his, uh, I don't know what else to say. I think he's coming out party. It doesn't make sense. Like, his, his, his like, I've arrived. Stake in the ground. I'm Chris Turner. Let's do it. Buy my pinball machine. Like, I just think it's gonna be, no, he doesn't even need to say buy it because he's gonna be like, look at it. Look at it. It's so pretty. Look at it. Don't you want to play it? Don't you want to lock balls up a mountain and then have them come crashing down in an avalanche? I do. That's crazy! All right, Chris Turner, I'm excited for you, man. Let's see what happens. I'm gonna see you at TPF. Jamie's gonna see you at TPF. We're gonna play your new game and hopefully we are ultra pumped and there's big lines waiting to play it because I want that for you, brother. I really do. All right, guys, that's it for now. We will see you on the flip side. Take care, everybody. Loved and loved by all Lies
