Hey there, Dave Jeff Brenner with American Pinball Tech Service. Today I'm going over changing out the coil mechanism for the barrel lock. This is, I need to do this for a customer anyway to show them how the steps are done, so I might as well show everybody. Well this coil lock mechanism is exactly the same for the corkscrew as well so you can apply that. I'm going to show you on the barrel just because it's a little bit more steps to take the barrel cover off to get at it. So without further ado I'll zoom in here and we'll take a closer look. With the playfield pulled out and resting on the yellow support rails in the lock bar receiver you can easily get at the barrel to access the lock. There are two Phillips screws on either side of the barrel on the front and back I like to have either a magnetic screwdriver or a pen magnet so you don drop the screws inside the play field and lose them So just loosen these screws. Then you do the same thing for the backside. I've already removed those so it just pulls up. You just set this off to the side. And now you have access to the coil mechanism. So let me zoom in here a little bit closer and I'll show you how to take this off. Alright here the lock assembly It really just a relay coil that when it energizes it pulls out on this lever and moves this pin out of the way to release the balls So this whole thing comes as an assembly if you replacing it You have the wires for the coil that kind of wrap around and they feed down in through the play field. So to get this assembly off you first need to remove this wire here and easiest thing to do is just pull out there's a hole in the bracket on this hoop here pull out pull the whole thing up set this off to the side now the next thing is releasing the the coil itself the coil bracket and there's a screw on on the back side of the coil. You just unscrew this. And that comes out Now this whole mechanism is free. Just notice how the wires wrap around so they're on the underside here. And so now underneath I've already unplugged the coil, it's just a molex connector. And so you just kind of feed this through and that comes out. And you're going to plug that, you're going to take the new one that you have, you're going to install it the same way, feed the cord back through the play field on the side of this plastic here and plug it back into the same spot.
