So it's like a buy this podcast for yours and butts and then get 50% off this podcast for your friends' ears and or butts. It's Black Friday special, everyone. Excellent. Not really. We'll run with it, but it wasn't my best work. So we had a good weekend. We went over to Lumberjack Johnny's for their relaunch. Yes. I didn't have a good pinball day. It's like one of those days, I hadn't had one for a long time, where I forgot what pinball was and how to play it. It was like opposite day. Yeah, wow. No good. I don't know. It's like you're playing and you're like, oh, that's right, I'm playing pinball. I was supposed to be doing things and it just wasn't working out for me. I don't know. It's been a tough couple of months at my work. I think I'm starting to zone out is what I'll say. Yeah. But it was a really nice remodel. Yeah. You know? It opened up the place. It wasn't like it was crowded before. No. But it feels really open now. Oh, and this is the Appleton one. I don't know if they've done anything at the Green Bay one. I don't know. I don't either. We'll have to check that out sometime. One thing I didn't, well, there's two things I didn't partake in that I have to. The new excavating pit, which is you rent, I guess, remotes? They're RC diggers. Yeah, diggers and stuff like that. I don't know if you each get one or, I don't know. So that was that. And then I was like, oh, I hope they hid things in there. Like, I hope you would dig around and you find a thing that digs out and it goes, oh, you won a coin for a free beer or something like that. And then they also had some very interesting, like, vector-style arcade games. They weren't vector games, but it was like there was two new, they were like almost MAME cabinets, I'm going to say, but they were like Missile Command and then Missile Command 10,000. It was very interesting, and I was like, we were kind of, I don't want to say pressed, but I was kind of, I was like wore out. So after playing pinball, we just split. But I got to get back in there to play those arcade games because they're very interesting. I don't know what they were. So that's the other thing. I had to take some pictures and figure out what they even are to look into them. They did have that other one. was it beer tapper yes that one where you have to like balance the ball yeah yeah so they they had that before didn't they they've had that one maybe yeah that was over kind of by the change machines but on the wall oh yeah where the P3 is that's one like that's one that's a game I think I would like but I don't like like that beer that one I tried it a couple times like oh this is fun and then I went back and played it I was like I don't like this at all I think I just suck at it that's the problem I think if I was better at it, maybe I'd think it was fun. I think, didn't they used to have that at Replay in Dunedin? And that's where I played it. I haven't played it since Replay. So I was like, eh. And then for some reason, they were getting some... The secondary market was outrageous money for those things. I was like, why? But then I think they started making them again, so now it's back to normal. This is like COVID times. It was like, oh, only slightly destroyed beer game. $10,000. I'm like, what are you talking about? Only slightly destroyed. You're like, I don't know. Okay, whatever. Yeah. So, I'm trying to think. I didn't watch any of the new game video play or anything like that. I know they're all sold out. Well, at least... The Beetlejuice? The Beetlejuice is sold out immediately. And I don't... The Walking Dead isn't sold out, but I haven't watched any really videos on either of them. You know, popular okay i have a question uh-huh i guess i mean i saw beetlejuice when it was around the first time right did we really need another beetlejuice movie um well that's i think because hollywood's like bankrupt ethically financially they're just kind of redoing and they're just throwing it whatever at the wall you know oh and that is that is a beloved i've come to realize but I'm listening to people talk about it. This is one of those movies that is very beloved. Yeah. I guess I didn't realize that. I didn't either. And I was like, I mean, I never heard anyone say anything bad about Beetlejuice, but I never heard of a super fan either. Right. But there must be some. Oh, there's at least 1,000. Yeah. There's at least 999 of them. Uh-huh. But there's way more. Right. And I think, for better or for worse, what we're seeing, I think we're going to see a wave of like of remake or not remakes pinball machines based on nostalgia from this slot. Like Goonies and like Greece. No. Well, I don't mean I shouldn't say no. Who the hell knows? Right. I mean, like, this is like stuff I don't care about. But it's it's it's love. Beloved, you know, like I wouldn't be like, what's that weekend at Bernie's like a dead guy, you know? like and it gonna be all this stuff and it because those are the people who have money now yeah and or enough money and enough the nostalgia is peaking out there Oh yeah Like they can do stuff from like Gilligan Island because they dying Those people that have nostalgia for that are kind of dying off or realizing I shouldn't be so fiscally irresponsible. So now they're hitting into this peak of, like, you know, like the Princess Bride. Yeah. So this is going to be more and more of this kind of stuff. Okay. Now, hopefully they drag along some of the cooler stuff like Wu-Tang or like, you know, there is fringe stuff during this era that's really cool. But mostly everyone kind of just safely goes, well, here's Beetlejuice and now here's Goonies and now here's a remake of Pirates of the Caribbean. I don't know. Like, they'll just kind of like just kind of do that stuff. Yeah. You know. And again, this isn't bad. No. It's just, you know. It's just not something that we're interested in. No. But there will also be some very cool surprise stuff in there. There's always stuff that comes along and you're like, oh, that's awesome. Who would have thought Godzilla? So many years later, that's still so cool and beloved. So there's always good stuff. People are just cranking along. I did play Pulp Fiction again, and I kind of play that every time we go there. I'm like, we're going to own one of these. I'm kind of making peace with the fact that I'm going to own a Pulp Fiction. I really like that game it's so fun I don't know I just like it a lot and I think that we will also at some point own a 007 yeah you can get those pretty I think the pro level of the 007 you can get them it's not one of those machines that's crazy you know right now now it might come around code is really good on that one I think code hurt that when it first got released Everyone's like, oh, this is dumb. And then, of course, the code came along and made it better and better and better. Now it's like an incredible game. I'm sorry. I don't know what the knock on it was. I know there's that one very phallic looking thing. But there's shots. There's a lot of different shots to find. It's a fun game. I do very much like it. I wasn't a super fan of it when it came out. Yeah. I would like the 60th, but I know that won't ever happen. But then playing it more and more, you're like, oh, this is really cool. I play one or both of those every time we go to Lumberjack. Oh, before we forget, also have to do a shout-out. Mad Pinball hooking us up with free patches. I do love patches. And they included some stickers. So very, very huge shout-out. Thank you, Mad Pinball. Epic fun, insane service. we're going to put some of our stickers in the mail and send them their way, whether they want them or not. Yeah. They're getting them. I don't know. Here he goes. Something you didn't ask for. Exactly. I did have a topic today. Okay. Just a random kind of thing. And this is from, this is not calling out one person. This is just like in general. So people have a lot of, the pinball world is very diverse, you know? Yep. What is, in your estimation, what's more off-putting or annoying? The person that randomly, like, screams and screams and shouts and yells at a machine. Mm-hmm. Just, now we, to be fair, we've all had arguments with a machine. Yes. I have, you know. Yes, we all have. I'll get saucy, but I don't scream and scream so that everyone in the whole block hears me arguing with an inanimate object. so there's that guy or the guy that's like really oddly flailing person like where they're like leg kicks like a donkey kick but it kicks straight back so if you're standing there you're gonna they'll kick the beer out of your hand or like they'll flail around wildly that one's less prevalent and sometimes that's because of like body makeup like if somebody's seven foot tall which, you know, some of these Stern employees, they have to have, like, a longer stance. That's normal. Like, I'm not talking about that. I'm talking about, like, the guy, like, the person that just, like, kicks a lot or does that weird, like, ca-caw, slapping to the side where they're a bird now, but they're slapping the sides of the machine. And they're, like, flailing their arms. Yes. Yeah. So in your estimation, which one of those is more off-putting or more annoying, I guess? I would have to say the screamy person because I find myself kicking my leg out. That's kind of a normal thing. I do consider, in my brain, I have like a stance safe area that I try to stay within because we all do like that thing. I think sometimes I violate my own rule on that one. I try not to, but everyone kicks stuff. But yeah, the screamy person. My God, it's so weird. Especially when you're standing there in a virtually empty place where there's maybe three people in it and two of us are not screaming on a Saturday afternoon. Or you could like walk in and you're in the parking lot and you hear them screaming. I was like, oh my God, are they getting murdered? No, no, no. Nope, just yelling at the machine. Yeah, just yelling at the machine because that's what happens. I don't know. It's just that it was one of those things where I was like, wow. So you're going with the screaming. I definitely say, because I feel like when I'm having a really good game and I move around a lot more than I normally do. Do you know what I mean? But you know what I'm talking about. I do. The one that totally violates everything. You're almost kicking other people. But I guess it's just an involuntary thing. Yeah, you don't do it on purpose. You just do it. Yeah. It's your, it's like. I guess so you're one with the pinball machine whoa very zen man no I mean it's I know what you're talking about I think I have like a leg sweep thing I don know for sure because I don know I doing it I feel like I doing something but I don know I trying to move the machine a little bit but not like tilt it Yeah I think it involuntary But I think the screamy thing is like you know you screaming bro Now, again, this isn't calling out one person, so don't send us angry emails. It's not. What the hell, man? It's like every single time, every single time. Yeah, and sometimes you're walking into a place, and if you know that a screamy person is there, you're like, oh man now I now I because my my shoulders shoot up a little bit like I get like jumpy like I'm like I'm gun shy you know what I mean like a gun fight when's it coming yeah you gotta draw your guns really quick just make sure you're alive it's a it's an odd thing but whatever it's all we're all there's a lot of different people everyone does their own yep which is we're finding out as we go more and more so uh yeah I'm trying to think of anything else there's not a whole lot we got we did get a of course though we got our people for the Secret Santa the Pinside Secret Santa and I got the notification and every time I launched the email I can't even see that there's words there I had to like zoom and zoom and zoom and zoom and it's like one point type and I'm like I think it says like XL or maybe they're talking about a 2XL an 8 track player that looks like a robot or I don't know yeah no it's for some reason our emails when those come through but it's just like this thing at the bottom, and you have to really zoom and zoom and zoom. It's pretty funny. And then I'm trying to think what else. We also have, we did order and receive the, got a mod for the Beatles machine. We got one of those TVs that plays the video, like a Beatles, loop of the Beatles videos. So I'm going to install that. We don't have a lot of mods on the Beatles machine. That's kind of well appointed. It's a nice machine. it already kind of has a lot in there. I know a lot of people put a lot of stuff in things, but that was one when I did see it, I was like, that's really cool. You know, like that little TV playing the, the Beatles stuff. And it's just in the little corner that has nothing really in it on top of the plastics. Nice. So it's a good little accoutrement, you know? So I'll have to, I think I'll try and open that up this weekend. Cause I also have to clean these machines there. I try to stay on task with cleaning them, But sometimes I let it go for a while. I'll bet you it's been six or eight months since I've kind of lifted the glass and wiped it down and polished everything out and everything, you know. Yeah. I try and keep them nice. I did look up. When I was thinking about, okay, I'll be doing this for each machine, I did, like, look up how often you should replace Titan because we have Titans on our machines. They're saying, like, in home use, they should last long, like long, long. Yeah. Which I guess that's normal. That would be correct. I mean there's people I'm sure there's people that replace it every six months or whatever but I don't we don't play it that much you know no you just kind of wipe them down it's like one one game a day a couple games a day yeah so I think we'll just do a I'll just do the wipe down I'll check them to see if anything needs replacing but I'm not going to just do it for the hell of it yeah these aren't on location they're just on our location yeah they're in our location our location so I don't know you got anything else I don't think so. It's been kind of a quiet two weeks. Yeah, because Lumberjack Johnny's was closed for two weeks, so we don't have any numbers to talk about. Oh, yes, but we will be picking that up, of course. Lumberjack Dave had talked to you about, we have to kind of get this going. He mentioned about a craft through Sally suggestions or something like that. So when you go to Lumberjack Johnny's and you walk up to the bar, they have a section of, they have a couple of cans of beer sitting there. I think one side is the new stuff, and then the other side is the employee picks. Oh, cool. So I might be able to get my Craft Bruce Sally pick in there. You know you've made it if you know Craft Bruce Sally's suggestion. Yeah. Wow. That would be awesome. That would be pretty cool. Although most people probably walk up and go, what the hell does that mean? Who's Craft Brew Sally? And Wilson would shrug and go, I don't know. But it's good. And you'd be like, okay, I guess so. All right, enough of this. I think that's going to do it for the pinball. And we're going to drop in everyone's favorite segment. Craft Brew Sally. Going to have to put your journal down. Craft Brew Sally time. You've been to all the breweries around You've been running all over the town Tell me what to drink until I fall on the ground Yeah That's right, people. And we're back. What do you got for us this week? So, a couple, like last week, I was talking to my co-worker and we were talking about beer, of course. Why wouldn't we be talking about beer? Yes. And she said she watches this lady on, I think, Instagram or something. And she has a series of, how much does it take for me to get drunk? Okay. So she was telling me about this beer that she had a drink of on this. and wait so she's just like she's an influencer that just sits there and gets drunk yep how much of whatever i'm drinking does it take for me to get drunk i i think that for a long time the poor man's pinball podcast was just an influencer that sat there and got drunk yeah probably okay go ahead so this beer can you take a wild guess what the alcohol by volume is on this beer no because even if I like when I'm looking for a beer for like you or mom yeah if it has like 13% I'm like gross yuck and I put it back because that like ketchup like beer syrup yeah you know Yeah Okay So this one is 75 Well that just whiskey So what happens is this beer starts off as a Scottish style barley wine. Okay. No, sorry. No. Scottish style barley ale. Right. Which is that one that you had up with. Bigfoot. Yeah, the Bigfoot. Yes. You and Lumberjack Dave and Nikki had done. Yes. Which I really enjoyed that. Yeah, you said that was good, but that wasn't 75% alcohol. No. But this one, then it's that process of making that beer takes two months. And then it's blended with Scottish spirit. Okay. So it's 75%. Like they have like some kind of an enchanted, what are those things called? The thing you blow into bagpipes that bring Scottish ghosts down? Maybe. Is that how they, and they go, ooh, and then they like, they. Oh, I didn't even think of that. The spirits, it's the Scottish spirits are coming down from the moors, and they're enchanting this beer. Is that how it works? Absolutely not. I thought I knew the brewing process, but I guess not. Okay, so go ahead. So then after it's done fermenting, then they filter it three different times. Through the moors. They go to the moors and they just pull some of that moss up and run it through that. Just thicken it up a little bit. Yes. So this is Bither Fire. Bither? Bither? Bither. Fire. Bither. B-E-I-T-H-I-R. Fire. And it's made by Aviate Brewing. Aviate Brewing. Now, where are they from? So they're from like Wisconsin? No. Okay. Scotland, possibly. Okay. I forgot to write that down. because the ghosts aren't going to hear the bagpipe, the enchanted bagpipe from across the sea. And even if they do have it, you're like, well, now we have another two weeks until the ghosts get here to make it super strong. The ghost of Scottish Superman has to come and go, argh. Okay, go ahead. But this one does come with a warning. It has a little yellow warning label on it. It says, warning, this is stupid. Why would you drink this? Is that what it says? No. It says do not exceed 35 milliliters in one sitting. So that's like a little bit over an ounce. Wait, what? No, hold on a second. An ounce? Like you're supposed to drink one ounce in a sitting. Yeah, that's it. So one shot of beer. I think they're missing the point, I guess. So I looked this up on Untappd. Okay, sounds great. And most of the reviews are in another language. so you just have to hit C translation. Scottish ghost language, I'm guessing. So the first one I try hit C translation for, it says, this is what pure poison tastes like. It's like, this bit of shite. I'll bash you in the head with my shillelagh if you ever darken my doorstep with it again, lass. Is that what one of them said? That's what mine would say. Yes, I saw yours. I do not support any violence. No. I mean, I support violence, but of course not against Crafter Sally. So, okay, what else? What are some of these other glorious ones? That was the best one. There was one in red, and I said, that sounds like Skateboarder Glenn's Slippy Slappy Samsonite wrote it, because it was like... Oh, yeah. It says, this one is really smooth. I'm really clean inside. Yes. Yep. That brought to you by Scottish Glenn, the intern, skateboarders, Slippy Slappy. Spirit Ghost. Spirit Ghost, correct. So this sounds to me like it's not an anomaly, like almost like a joke beer. Maybe. I mean, they're kind of missing the point of what beer is about. People like drinking beer and enjoying it because they like the flavor and they like to have with friends. Yeah. Oh, I'm going to sit down and have a 30, what is it, 35 milliliters? Yeah. That sounds awesome. Make sure you sip it. It's really good. Maybe some people really like it. Did I say they're from Scotland? Yes, they're from Scotland. It's from Scotland. There you go. You haven't had those. I have not had it, but it's only I think like $53 for 330 milliliters. I don't know. I'm assuming that's like 50 drinks. I don't know. It sounds horrible to me. But I don't know. Maybe it's one of those things people like. Maybe. If you want to taste pure poison, I guess. Yeah, well, according to the reviews. That's like, I don't know. I am kind of a purist with a lot of stuff. Like I don't like pineapple on pizza. I don't like fruit and beer. Don't need any part of that. The other thing is I don't like when people drop a shot into a beer and then you chug the beer and then the shot slides down and drink it. Just drink the shot, then drink the beer. I don't know. like there's all this wackiness I'm just like just I'm very set in my ways I just want to drink a beer and if I want a shot then I'll do a shot then I'll drink some beer you know yeah I don't mix that's ruining two things to me I'm always kind of like eh I don't know now there is I think some people really like some of that stuff the boiler makers that's what they call that one where they drop the shot in yeah I'm sure there's all kinds of wacky kinds of drinks like that nah you can keep them I'll just give me my Bud Light Platinum and stay off my And a shot of rum and your kids with your baggy pants and your beepers and your boiler makers and your Scottish ghost beer. Get out of here. We're done? I think we're done. I think we're done. All right. Well, thanks for listening, everyone. We'll try better next time. We will. This has been Pinball Chunk Jor. Show 86. Thanks for listening, won't you? Thank you. That's it, man. Game over, man. It's game over!
