The newest hotness, the JJP spectacular Sonic the Hedgehog. Yes. Now, initial thoughts? What are you thinking of? It's beautiful. It is a beautiful game. They brought it with the gorgeousness, that's for sure. Like when you look at that thing, even the little touches like the outline, the outline, the trapping is made with like glitter, you know, so it's very, it's a gorgeous looking machine. We don't talk about trapping here on the pinball junk drawer. That's a car. Anyway, and that means that's only funny to like three people in this whole universe. So what is it? What's that? The side, the side art. Oh yeah, the side art. Yes. And like, no, like the cutouts for the inserts. Yeah, I know. Like where the color is, where it stops, then they actually added a ring of very nice glitter. And I like glitter a lot. Yes, you do.

    Only if it's under like a gloss coat, though. I'm not a fan of like glitter. Real glitter. Yeah, it gets everywhere. Yeah, I don't need any of that. I like it when it's gloss coated and it looks like a really fast hot rod or something. The topper was really nice. Yep, topper is cool. It moves. Yes, it does move. It's very animated. You said it shows the score. I believe it shows the bonus. Oh, okay. That's what I saw when you were playing. Probably wasn't much of a number because like all JJPs, when I start playing it, my score is about seven points. Seven points. I get seven points and then I walk away going, man, I hate that game. I don't, but I get frustrated. It has like a sonic sculpture.

    Yeah, they're very nice. And I don't know. I'm sorry, but I don't know who the pink. Knuckles? No, Sonic. I don't know. Yeah. That's what I mean. Right. As soon as you hear the noises, you know, the ring collection noise and all that kind of stuff. It takes you back. Yeah. To the good Sonic. Yeah. We were alive during that time, which means we don't have any cartilage in our knees. But also it means get off our lawn and put down your pagers and those baggy pants you should pull them up.

    But yeah so like Sonic we've talked about it before kind of that was Sony's like or I'm sorry Sega's like we're coming to get you Nintendo. You know that was their their real edgy look up some of the 90s cringeworthy commercials there. There's something. But those games were so fun. They were fun. As soon as I heard the sound of collecting rings, I was like, oh, yes. And that first introduction to Sonic where you start running and you go around that loop and you're getting the coins or the rings, it's the exact same as that first Mario, the first world in Mario 3.

    You just know that entire sequence. It just automatically transports you back to a better time. And they have a super duper looper ramp. Not many people will get that reference. No. Do you know that reference? No, I don't. Super duper looper. Wasn't that at, oh, there was an amusement park. Dorney Park? No, it wasn't at Dorney Park. Yeah, that was the laser or something like that. Oh, maybe it was. I don't remember now. Oh, goodness. It's okay. That was terrible. It's okay. We are the Ed Woods of podcasting. Yeah, we are. Now, the upper playfield. This has a raised up upper playfield. I am not a fan of upper or lower playfields. They're just like the sunken ones. Yeah. They're kind of, I mean, I don't, I can never do anything with them. They're honestly, to me, they just feel like a distraction from good gameplay. Now, I know some people, there are some that are done well. Well, this one has done very well. The way this one was built is probably one of the best I've played. It's a larger playfield. Yep. And it's clear. It's clear. Which, that makes a big difference. Yes. Because a big old honking chunk taken out of what could be a very awesome flowy playfield is not good to me. Right. Now, again, there is some merit to some of these. Yes. I sound like a jerk talking about this like this. But I just I never liked them. Yeah, it takes me three times to get to an upper play field for me to be fast enough to react to keep it up in the play field. I usually watch it just go right down. That was a big waste of time. The nice thing about this one, though, is like one ramp you go up and it's whatever, whatever it is, it is. But the other ramp you go up and it gives you a warning. It like catches your ball and then it like warns you like when it's going to come. And most do. Again, I'm just slow or whatever. And I didn't, true to form, I didn't do very much with the upper playfield. But I did, I know if I play, when I play this a little bit more, I'll get the hang of it and I'll be a little bit better at it. You know, it and it's I like it. But I don't know. You know, it's again, I'm just not a big super fan of the upper playfields. Yeah, they're they're they're fine. Some are done done well You know some aren You can you know pretty quickly This one I would say is It integral to the boss fights It part of the game It coded incorrectly So it not just some add whatever So that was really cool Yeah, and so that ramp, the Super Tuper Looper ramp, which is Hershey Park, by the way. Ah, Hershey Park, yes.

    When you go through that ramp on the screen, it shows you running through that circle of rings. Right, which is so iconic and so cool. And I did love those little accent rings that kind of showed where to shoot or had the bone. It was informational but also very aesthetically pleasing. There's a little physical rings, gold rings, because that's the whole shtick, with like inside each of the rings had like these little like LEDs that kind of gave information. Now, when you're playing, you don't necessarily, you can't necessarily see it unless you're trapping balls, you know, but it's still very cool. You know, J.J.P. brings it. They stuff everything they can and the kitchen sink under that glass. Every time, you know. So no one, I don't think anyone could ever walk up and say this is a plain, you know, empty play field of a JJB. They really, that is their like corporate motto is why don't we stuff a little bit more under there? Good, bad or indifferent, doesn't really matter. I walked away. I didn't. Like I said, I had two games and I didn't do very well. Now, you know, sometimes you sit back and you watch people playing and you're watching. Lumberjacks has a lot of competitive players that kind of live there, you know. So you stand and watch somebody play and you're like, you're watching somebody drop like 300 million. And I'm like, man. And I walked away with like 28 or something like 7 million, some crap. And you're like. You feel bad when you play after some of them. It's like, I'm going to go play something I know how to play so I can feel good about it. Right. And that's just, I'm mostly joking with that. It takes time and you play a little bit and you learn some stuff and you start getting some shots down. Right. It was cool. It was very cool. I don't know, if we bought a JJP, that would be in the mix, but I have a feeling it would ultimately always go to Harry Potter because of your love. I love for that theme. Like just always, you know, if we had a massive game room, maybe this one? I don't know though. But if we're talking honestly, we were at Lumberjack Johnny's and we were playing and I of course went to Fall of the Empire. Yeah. Because I always go to Fall of the Empire. It's a fun game. And when I walked away from it, I was like, I think this has to be our next game. Wow. And I actually finally had a good game on Pokemon. Yeah. Which I've been waiting.

    Pokemon is a game I continue to play. And that one and Transformers, because they're new and I want to play them and play them and play them. I hadn't had too many very good games on Pokemon. Right. It's not – the shots are findable. It's accessible. You know, it's not that. It's just – I just don't. I think I get anxious when it says Pokemon collected. Do you know what I mean? You have to shoot that one. Yeah. It should be a very easy shot. It should be. Yeah, it is. But when you have a time restraint, you're like, oh my god, I gotta get this. And then you're like, miss it by a hair. Yeah. So I did good on that. But no, I played Follow the Empire and I was like, hmm. Yeah, it's a cool game. I think this has to be our next one. Well, we can start chiseling away because it's a fun game. I love it. I do too. It's very – and there's a lot I haven't unlocked in that one. And I got three boopy-dupes on it. Oh, my God. So that helped. And we played Transformers again, and that's a good game. I don't know. That's one I think might get lost in my brain when I'm thinking about games. There's some that always kind of pop up that I like, oh, I love that game. I can't wait to play that game again. And then there's games that are like, oh, yeah, like John Wick is an oh, yeah, game. I actually am one of the people on this planet that says it's a fun game. I'll play it anytime it's in a lineup. I'll play it. But I don't remember it. Like when I when I'm referencing different games in my head, you know, it's just one of those things where you go, oh, yeah, that game. That's fun. And I'll put a buck into it and play it and have a good time. And then I'll go over and play the Hulk. I always play the Hulk.

    You know, Lumberjack Johnnies. It's just the way it is. Yeah. So I was excited that they had it. I was surprised they had it. We didn't know. Yeah. When we walked in, we got our usual greeting from Wilson. Yep. I said, you're here to play Sonic? And I was like, you have Sonic? Yeah, I know. I was like, wow. Yeah. That's awesome. So they must have just got it this past week. That was a CE sitting out for people to play. I was like, wowzers. So cool. We are very lucky. That's all I can say. And one of the things that like when we were playing those and I was and then you were you played Dune. Oh, yeah. I love Dune, too. I know. And I was I walked away kind of thinking about like, we should all be very appreciative of where this pinball world is at right now. You know, early to mid 2000s. Pinball was all but like it's a dead thing. No one's going to ever play it. It's gone. Stern kept it alive, kept it out there. Then J.J.P. brought in some competition and things started ramping up. And then just the right mix. And like look at like the pinball landscape now. There are so many like machines and so many companies and so many like of the cottage industry where it's like the mod makers and the people making it possible. What's that one that makes it possible? Aaron Davis. Yeah, Aaron Davis for Homebrew. Fast. Fast Pinball. And everything, like we are at a wonderful time for pinball. Like considering 15 years ago, or 20 years ago now, it was on its way out. And man, look at it now. We are so fortunate to have all these awesome machines. Even machines that I don't necessarily like are mostly playable. And mostly you can walk up and kind of say, it's not for me, but it's a good game. You can shoot it. You can play it.

    There's a couple out there that people make fun of, but you can still walk up and you can play some of those what people consider bad games and they're still fun and they're still shootable and they're still playable. You know, it's it's I think we should all kind of be very appreciative of how fortunate we really are. Yeah. Because imagine the the the alternative is if it would have died. Yeah. Or if it would have just stayed Stern and they're just kind of eking along. Yeah. Nothing. We probably wouldn't have the Stern machines that we have now. Not even close. If there wasn't competition. Well, they ramped up and responded. Yeah. It not that they were even it not I don consider that they were uninspired or junk or whatever like that If you honestly not sure how long this is going to go you can afford a huge bill of materials You can't purchase at volume. You have huge licenses. And you can't even find people to do it. So, of course, it's kind of status quo because you're not sure what the future holds. So now, not only did the competition make everyone bring their A game, And now there's more people talking about it. Now there's more innovation. Now there's more everything. So even like this mod makers and sculptors and stuff are bringing, look what can be done. And then it's like, wow. And now that's going to be part of it. And then the toppers and then, you know, it's it has been a resurgence and a rebirth of sorts for pinball. And I I'm super thankful. Yeah. You know, it could have just been a bunch of people working on old 1970s EMS. And, well, that's it, you know. Yeah. And also that gives us places like Lumberjack Johnny's with two locations. Glow in the Park. District 82. If you're in this area, you have a plethora of awesomeness to choose from. Right. We always, of course, say choose Lumberjack Johnny's because, you know, I consider them our friends and they have awesome games. But all of them have awesome games. It's put a buck into one at the pizza place, play them, let everyone know it's worth your time.

    We're fortunate our pizza place has Toy Story. I can't believe it hasn't swapped out. Whatever. I think the guy that owns the pizza place owns that machine and I think that that's why it's still there. Either that or the person that has that route there doesn't know where to put Toy Story so he just leaves it there. He's like, you know what? That's good where it is. They just swapped out the Terminator pinball machine at the place that I play pool and they just put guns and roses in. Oh, you should ask them who has it because then we can try and buy it off them. I would love to restore an old Terminator 2 or Terminator 3. I can ask them. You should. Okay. And say, now we're very poor. Start with that so they don't expect us to give them a whole bunch of money. But say, ah, shoot here, then here, then drive it to my house right here. All right. Enough of that. Anything else? What else you got? All right. We have some updated information from Project Pinball. They are going to do three days, three dedications, 12th Love Across America Tour Part 3. Wow. That's awesome. Yeah. So they're doing three dedications. It says this is going to be huge. Three days, three back-to-back dedications, three different states, over 3,100 miles. Oh, man. Yes. Cruising. Does it say where they're putting them in? Well, it doesn't look like it says where they're going to be, but they are dedicating two Pokemon machines and they're going to rededicate a Beatles gold. Wow. What a list. Yeah. Kids are going to go nuts over the Pokemon. Yeah. And it looks like there's some raffles that are still open. Well, what does it say? Which ones? A Stern Pro, Walking Dead Remastered LE, and the Stern Premium. Wow. I will say, I've played that remaster a lot when I go to Stern. Twice now, I've played it a lot. But I didn't play that game a lot in the world. I don't see it a lot. It's a fun game. It's gross, but it's fun. I would buy that game, but not, of course, over Star Wars or The Empire, which apparently we're buying next. I don't like that theme. I don't know anything about that theme. I've never watched a single minute of it, but when I play it, I'm like, it's kind of fun. Yeah, I'm not a huge horror, gore person. Nah, I like the funnier ones, but even then I'm kind of like, eh, okay. All right, I think it's time to go into some Lumberjack numbers. Yeah. But first, let's go into a promo.

And what were the bottom three? Do you want to guess? No, I don't. Ultraman. Okay. Iron Man. Okay. Star Trek. Wow, that's the same ones I think. Star Trek's been at the bottom, so has Ultraman for sure. Yeah, I'm surprised. He'll probably swap them out. So they are also doing a release party this week on Thursday for a video game called Aliens of Destruction. Yeah, Dave sent a picture and it looks like it's going to be really fun. Yeah. We'll have to probably stop by and pop in and say hey and see what's going on with it because that's a good opportunity.

    I've noticed a lot my video game skills are very poor. I used to be a lot better at video games when I played them a lot in arcades when I was a young kid. That was a million and a half years ago.

    Now I'm not so good at video games. Not so good at math either. So obviously I became a graphic janitor where they expect me to do all kinds of math. I'm like, does anyone not understand why I got into graphics? Because I'm not good at math. But they keep pushing the envelope. Yeah, like when I play video games now, like I'm just not so good at them. I'm good at Mario Kart because I'm so obsessive with it. Yeah. But like even fighting games which is what I kind of played and played and played you know just it weird But I definitely want to check it out I also played we played that one what was it Death Block or Death um remember what I talking about Yeah. Death Ball. Yeah. That's a fun game, but you stormed off because you lost, so Krabbe Sly was like, she rage quit on me. She did. But it's okay, I kept kicking the ball in, so when she left, she lost by a lot more.

    Tell me what to drink until I fall on the ground. Yeah, somebody put some beer in my mug. All right, what do you got for us this week? So this week I was struggling with beer to review. And so I asked Google. I asked Google for a number between 1 and 2300.

    Google was like, I don't understand the question, you alky. It said, your number is 1743. So beer number 1743 in Craft Brew Sally's Beer Journal is Broken Skull IPA. Oh no, Steve Austin. Steve Austin's Broken Skull. And that's the bottom line because my IPA says so. Right. So I think the reason we bought this was because we were just off the final episode of Stone Cold Takes on America. Which is a very funny TV show. It is a great show. I don't know if they're doing more of them. I hope they are. Yeah. I would say that the IPA is not as good as the TV show. No, no. It looks like I gave it a 3.5 out of 5. And that's because you just got done watching the show. Otherwise, it would have been a 2.5. Because I just smashed the can off my head.

Yeah, it was, I think, and I think that's the only reason we bought it because I was high on Steve Austin at the time. Oh, yeah. But. He's a very likable fellow on those shows. Oh, yeah. It's brewed by El Segundo Brewing Company. Okay. And it has, you know. So he's not doing, he's not like stirring it with like a dirt bike. He might be. I don't, I don't think he is. Never know. He signed the can. Not like really, but. No. There's a snake on it. Yeah, you know. It's a shtick. It is. Like if Undertaker made a beer, I would buy it. Of course you would. I wouldn't drink it because I just wouldn't, but I'd buy it. Yeah. I guess now that we're talking about people that have made beers, I should have talked about our meteorologist from Clearwater. Yes. Because that, what was that, Crooked Thumb? Yeah. Made a Dennis Phillips. Yeah, Dennis Phillips. Pale Ale. Yeah. Which that one was really good. And it was really funny because the can had suspenders just like he does on the news. That's like some of these guys get their niche and that's where they go. Yeah. So, I mean, it wasn't a terrible beer, right? It wasn't terrible. I mean, if it was somewhere and I could have one, I probably would. And that's one of those things where like even because I know Iron Maiden has lots of booze. Booze, yeah. And I just don't get it. I like Iron Maiden. I'm not in like with Iron Maiden, but I like their music. My first concert I ever went to was a Peace of Mind tour for Iron Maiden. And you just know it's not going to be good. It might be okay. It just is because their name's on it. Right. That doesn't make it good. Yeah. Whenever we're looking at liquor, there's always those ones that have those really nice wooden boxes. I was like, well, I don't want to pay for a wooden box. Right. Give me better booze. Yeah. You know, it's just that the gimmicks kind of like, you know, so there you have it. Unless it's like a $1,200 bottle of tequila in that beautiful bottle. That's okay. You're just paying for the bottle at that point. I don't. And I don't like tequila. I don't like paying a lot of money for things either. So it looks like we're not getting that in our future. Gee, I can buy a bottle of booze or we can get Fall of the Empire. I wonder what I'm going to be bringing down. Fall of the Empire. Yes. I wonder what I'm going to be bringing down the steps. Bet it isn't a bottle of booze.
