Hey Elliot Pinball Nerds out there, this is Mike Dimas, formerly of the Canadian Pinball Podcast. It is Saturday night, and the wife has passed out early, so what better time to try and come up with a theme song for Mr. Orbiter Alfred's... Just kidding, haha, theme song contest. I know he said we've got two months to submit our entries, and like 12 hours later an entry was submitted and pretty much already won. But hey, that's all right. I'll still give it a shot. So here goes nothing. Enjoy. Take three. Take four. I'm a Pinball Nerd I'm a Pinball Nerd I'm a Pinball Nerd I'm a Pinball Nerd Nerds of nerds We're not big turds Busting out rhymes To get out the word I'm a Pinball Nerd I'm a Pinball Nerd I'm a Pinball Nerd I'm a Pinball Nerd I'm a nerd I know you wanted me to stay But I didn't ignore the crazy visions of me in L.A. And I heard that there's a special place Where boys and girls can all be queens every single day I'm having wicked dreams of leaving Tennessee Here's Santa Monica, I swear it's calling me Who'll make my mama proud? It's gonna cause a scene See, she's her baby girl I know she's gonna scream Oh God, what have you done? You're a pink pony girl And you dance at the club, oh mama I'm just having fun On stage in my heels It's where I belong Down at the pink pony club I'm gonna keep on dancing at the Pink Pony Club I'm gonna keep on dancing at the West Hollywood I'm gonna keep on dancing at the Pink Pony Club Pink Pony Club And I'm up and Jaws are on the floor Everybody was thinking where the hell is Orby Welcome back Pinball Nerds to episode 600 and something of your fifth favorite pinball podcast. We're going to head over to the studio couch so we can keep telling you all about today's show. And my special guest, you probably heard her chiming in. That's right, the better singer of the bunch. That's right. Welcome to the show. Round of applause. Drop target, Danielle. Thanks for coming. Hello. Thank you for having me. Well, I kind of had to have you. You were here on the couch and you're not at work, so I mean, you know, I'll take it if I have to. You're welcome. Man, you are pumped, girl. Here's my impression of your first thing you said on the show. You're welcome. You are so welcome. I feel like I'm like Travis Murie sitting here talking to Tom Talks. That means nothing to me. I'm sorry. Tom Talks. He's got something to say. Tom Talks. It's this podcast where they joke around about Tom talking a lot, but mostly it's Joel and Travis talking. You're like my Tom. I am. I love you. You're a little prettier than Tom, and I get to hang out with you way more than him. But I do spend a lot of my hours on the weekend watching Fox Cities Pinball. So, I mean, kind of in a circular way, yeah, a little. That's good. Well, I'm glad I can join you. Well, thank you for being here. Now, pass me our, I'll say it in brackets, notes. They're behind you. Thank you all. Thank you very much. Okay, you guys ready for the notes? Here they are. Drew, Harry Potter, Predator. Oh, sorry, Harry Potter CE art, Predator pondering. Then we're going to talk about a little secret secret. And then Joe Chervino, the dote himself, he's given me a really cool, fun challenge. And you know what? I'm going to try to do it. I'm going to try to make it. It's going to be huge. You're going to love it. I'm going to save it until the end of the show. And then we're going to talk about some sad news at the very end of that. But it doesn't matter. You're not here for that. Let's just... Let's just... okay that wasn't chapel playing guitar that was dan manger and the producer come on like come on dan chapel isn't she's awesome now there's two reasons why we played a little chapel rome at the start number one june is pride month thank you shout out to everybody out there we're gonna have a quick moment of Pride here for a second. There we go. That was a moment. Okay. Shout out to all you queens out there. Keep dancing to the Pink Pony Club. Such a banger of a song, but that's not the main reason I'm playing it. I'm playing it because... Rest in peace. Hashtag they're dead to me till next season. The good old Edmonton Oilers took a little bow-wow-wow-chicka-wow-chicka-wow-wow. Wow-wow. Yeah. So these guys, these guys, they're so funny. They played their hearts out. They played their asses off. They did incredible. But they came this close. You know, they had a hand, what did they say? Hand grenades and horseshoes? I don't know. Guns and ammunition. Okay, no, that's July talk. There is no singing on this podcast. I would not do that to you. And I'm definitely, we don't have a song in mind for the end. Don't worry, guys. So if you hate singing, you're at the wrong show. Okay, no, I will. I will try not to sing to the end. So I want to start immediately. On the last show, I was talking about my fearless leader. Honey, do you remember the two original dudes who did the F at Fridays, which was by far your favorite pinball podcast ever? You remember those nerds? Yes, Drew and Ian. Well, okay, good memory. So you don't know Travis Murie. No. And any of the Triple Drain guys, but you know Ian and Drew. They're legends. They're kind of like, I would call them legendary. What do you think? Is that? Yep, legendary. Is that fair? Yep. Legendary. All right. So this is what Drew said. This was on a recent Canada's Pinball Podcast post from like, I don't know, a week ago or so. He was, Canada's really, I feel like no, I think actually Tom from Fox City said this in his chat. It was like the only thing he said that he left and he was like, is there any pinball machine you could ever love? And it's almost like no. like no pinball machine would ever be good enough about kaneda i mean to me personally harry potter knocked it out of the park or sorry harry potter knocked it out of the quidditch pitch thank you what a girl you remembered it now just before we get into you know i want to deep dive put on your speedos get your goggles ready to go before we deep dive into that gorgeous succulent. It's like going to Ribfest and you're just getting that last bit of fatty grizzle off there. I'm sorry to my vegans or vegetarians listening. I am a meatitarian. Danielle does not like meat on the bone. No. That's not how you like your bones. That's not how I roll. That's not how she do. But you do like a pulled pork. Sammy. Yep. You still eat the meat. You just don't want it on the bone. The bone freaks you out. I don't know. I don't like eating off the meat. You're a homesteader. I know. but I don't like the idea of eating okay okay we've gone off topic but my boy Drew here what he was saying is like it literally just I want you guys to stop what you're doing okay if you're picking your nose picking your butt or picking scratching picking a winner no matter what you're doing stop you're doing okay if you're driving I'll let you keep driving just to be safe if you're jogging Tim Lee okay go ahead keep jogging but to everybody else stop where you're going, just to listen to Drew for a second. Our fearless leader said, when Kaneda was yet again complaining, even though Harry Potter is so, I think, incredible, but I do want to hear your overall, what your thoughts on kind of all the parts of it are, and I'll ask you about it individually. But I want to start with saying what Drew said, okay? Because I did try to summarize it on the last show, but this is so important. Drew says, what is happening in this hobby? Here is my unsolicited advice for the day. invite someone over to your house or go to a great local spot open a few beers play some pinball you may enjoy it i love those last four words is this good advice for kaneda it's fantastic advice play more pinball and maybe just be like can we all just like the next time a pinball machine is gorgeous as Harry Potter comes out. And Retro Ralph just put out a thing about this as well. The internet's going crazy between the AI art and a couple of the other... I'm not going to use the term Negative Nancy or Debbie Downer because I'm attempting not to be divisive anymore. I'm trying to just... I squashed all the beefs. I have no beefs left so I'm trying to be drama-free since episode 620.5. It doesn't have the same ring as drama-free since episode 493. It doesn't, unfortunately. I'm sorry. But here's the good news. Drew, you freaking, you got the W. You got that V twice, brah. You not just double victory, but like V twice like a double U. Which I'm saying is, you win the internet for the day, Drew. So congratulations. Now, let's go on to talk about the C.E.R. So just before we started the show, wait, before we talk about the art, switch it and reverse it. You watched part of the 20-minute gameplay video. You might have been half reading a book or half. Yeah, I think I was reading a book. You probably were. I know you were glancing up. You watched all of the video. I don't want to speak for you, but it seemed like you were the most excited ever. I think I watched it about 20 times in a row, and I swear to God you didn't leave the room for the first 10 or 15. I think I was excited by the fact by how much seemed to be in the game, how they covered all of the books, and it sort of followed the order of the books. I really liked that. I don't think that I would ever get to wizard mode at the end, but I liked how it incorporated so many different things, all the toys in the game. Baby. What? Baby. Y'all. I love you so much. What I'll do for you. is after we sell the farm and we can maybe afford a very, very used beat-up, played on location for five years CE, I'm going to get you one shot away from wizard mode. And then I'm going to say... So I can play the Deathly Hallows? Yes! And then I'm going to say, Honeysuckles of Love. Okay, I've never called you that before. I don't know where I came up with that. That's not even a good one. I don't know. I don't know. But I would call you over and I'd let you take that one last glorious shot. Thank you. and I would probably, it would probably go right down the middle and I would probably lose the ball. Well, at least you're being honest. You know how much I celebrate honesty here on the Pebble Nerds Podcast. I want you to be 100% honest. Just talk about like the shots, that main mech, the toy in the middle. Just briefly, tell me just your honest opinion. Well, I liked the Ford Anglia with the Whomping Willow. That was pretty cool on the bumper. I like how it moved, but it was like still there. What else was there? Well, I mean, the staircase is the main mech in the middle that was spinning. I don't know how many different modes or directions the ball could go. That was pretty cool. Explain, lots of the people that will be listening to this right now, they may not have seen all of the movies, or if they have seen all of the movies, they may not have read all the books. Not everybody is as hardcore a Harry Potter nerd as you and I are. So for the people who haven't read the books, but they have seen the movies especially, just explain the importance. Like, I don't necessarily think the movies does the importance of the staircase, and how important it is, especially in the last few books, to not being caught by Death Eaters or being caught by people trying to get in there. It switches every single day. So if you're not from there, what's the importance in the book that maybe someone who saw the movie wouldn't see? Oh, I don't remember what it would be. Because that's where a lot of those very important paintings were. And the paintings could come to life. And sometimes some old people could use magic to come through the paintings. Like, am I right? No, I think a lot of the paintings were of people when they were alive, their paintings were taken and they were magical with them as they were alive. So they sort of had a self that was still relevant in the world, even after they had passed. Okay. I know some of them guard it. But they're important, are they not? Yeah, I think to the wisdom world. A lot of them are in that variant. I'm just saying the staircases, like people who just saw the movies, it might not have brought home that it's almost a religious type place. The Staircasers are enchanted. I can't remember who enchanted them. Probably Albus Dumbledore. That's all. I don't think so. Fine. It might have been Dobby. I think it was one of the founders. Wait. Can you name all four founding fathers? Founders. Founders because there is one of them is a witch. Yeah. There was Godric Gryffindor. Wait. Hold on. Can I just say it differently? Sure. Godric Gryffindor. Salazar Slytherin. Salazar Slytherin Helga Hufflepuff Helga Hufflepuff Hufflepuff and Rowena Ravenclaw Rowena Ravenclaw and they were the heads of the four houses hey do you know who I was trying to replicate the sorting hat yes but who Mr. Marc Silk Marc Silk thank you wow shout out to Marc Silk it's so cool that I got to interview him on my show and then he's in that game imagine I'm just here and like your mom comes over who doesn't necessarily love pinball. She did play with us last time. Just someone who's not into pinball comes over and while they're playing it, they're like, that sounds just like the Sorting Hat. I like well that the Sorting Hat if you go to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter That literally the dude And then I would say oh yeah and you know every single Hallmark for like 10 years had a Sorting Hat They had the demo version and everyone would go over and be like, oh, you're getting lice because 50 kids wore that that day. But he was literally the voice of the Sorting Hat in that animated thing. You could buy at Hallmark for years as well. And I got to interview him. So can you imagine even just like your mom or maybe like, I don't know, someone else who loves Harry Potter. Well, your mom read all the Harry Potters, but even maybe one of your siblings who loves Harry Potter. And for me to be able to say, Oh yeah, that guy that literally the sorting hat dude, I got to interview him on my podcast. And then all of a sudden they're like, Whoa, Albert's less of a loser than we thought. That's right. You know what I mean? Yeah. What did your, okay, this is kind of funny. What did your mom call me for like the first year we were together? The bum. I didn't have a job. I'll be it briefly. Okay. I had a job. It was maybe part, very part time. There you go. She knows it. The bum. I'm slightly less of a bum today because I worked for a couple hours today at the market. There you go. Hey, I'm back at the market. I love it. And thanks to everybody. It was almost at, I think, 200 views or 175 or something last time I looked. I did do a one-hour live stream today from the Pugwash Farmers Market. And I always try to incorporate a little bit of pinball chat because I know at least half the people on my Facebook are huge pinball nerds. So you can ask Danielle. She's like, you paid that guy. I'm like, I did not. The very first guy paid with a whole bunch of quarters, and all he said was, I'm going to use this for pinball later. And right on cue, he was like, pinball? And then we had this beautiful conversation. It was really cool. So anyways, if you guys have me on Facebook, go watch that. It was an hour straight. I mentioned him before, Ian on YouTube. He works at 7-Eleven. I find it so interesting. I know it's a little boring to people. The view was not good. The sound was not good. I'm going to try to maybe getting a different, I don't know, like, well, I don't know. I was given $65 towards getting a microphone, but there's no way, like I've been talking with Glenn. He's like showing me ones that are like two, $300 US. And I'm like, I just had to save up those donos. I know, but I just, that's like the last, like I in literally in the last six weeks, I got one dono for a new mic, but I'm not asking for it today. Cause there's a very special announcement at the end that has nothing to do with money in today's. this is too I think this is I'm hoping this will be a TSN turning point episode so I don't want to ask for monetary and I'm not but I am going to save up some money I might even pull out a couple Pokemon cards from my PC and sell them on Slab Sharks even though they're worth way less in the summer everybody out be doing cottages and beaches and trips no one's thinking about Pokemons right now so they always the prices dip in the summer but I might just go someone because I want to get like a real mic like a when when I listen to slam tilt and I heard how good everyone else sounded and then mine came in I was like oh my god crackles but it's not just that it's just like how clean it could be and how crisp clean and crisp let's I'm gonna tell a joke that none of the Americans will get okay ask me how I like my coffee oh how do you like your coffee I can't do it Crisp. It's crisp. Well, that was better. Oh, my God. Honey, you spit all over the microphone. Don't do that. Save your spit for Ron. Okay, so let's see here, Huk to a girl. Okay, next on the list, I want to talk specifically, and I actually have the art here. I want to talk about the Harry Potter art, specifically the cabinet art. Well, first of all, let's just go backwards here. What did you think of the topper? so when I first saw it like in the video I thought it looked yeah I thought it looked cool but then in the video where you actually like got to see it being used I thought it didn't look that cool but for something that's included in the price of the CE I guess it's like it's all it's aight I wouldn't I wouldn't pay I wouldn't go out and pay extra for it I suppose I guess what I would do if I... Is just getting the C without the topper an option or no? No, but you told me something that possibly was heard by Carrie Hardy and repeated. My original idea, which I think you mentioned on your podcast a little while ago, was that what I would do is remove that particular topper, buy the Lego Harry Potter Hogwarts castle, and build it in its place. And I don't know exactly how big it is, but if you were able to maybe add on... I think it's around the right size. Yeah, you could just... Or the Quidditch pitch or something. Or the Whomping Willow or just whatever. Yes, to add that. What's a little village nearby? Hogsmeade. Hogsmeade. If you had like, say, I'm kind of showing Danielle here, but you can imagine, say like Hogwarts takes up like three quarters of it and you had Hogsmeade in it. Right. You know what I mean? There's just unlimited options. I don't know how big the actual Lego kit is, but I think something like that would work really nice because you know you have all your little lego characters they come with different accessories right you probably have hagwood and brooms and i don't know what else is included in it yeah um i think that would be because here's the thing is i don't hate the diorama but there's no characters there's no it doesn't match it doesn't harry is there in some respect i don't I don't remember seeing it. Well, there's supposed to be some projection here. Okay, so maybe he is. I don't know. I didn't see it. But to me, I feel like I could build something that might be more to what I'm looking for, especially with that particular machine. When I looked at the front of this in grade six, I think I showed you a picture at one point, but I made an exact replica. Wait, what was my name? Tell everybody. Maybe don't mention my middle name, but what was my first and last name in grade six? Was it Albert Morton? Correct. Okay. Most of you guys didn't know that. So my stepfather adopted me when I was in grade two. And I used the hyphenated name so I didn't feel left out for everyone in my family, Agar Morton. So when I got to choose a castle somewhere in Robert Englunds or Scotland or Ireland, somewhere in the UK, to replicate, I picked the Morton Castle. And I did an exact replica of it. And I'm not shatsing you. I'm trying not to swear. I'm trying to be slightly more family friendly because I know a lot of the listeners got kids and they're driving to sports or going wherever and they want to be able to listen in the car when they're busy. And also, I don't know, I don't think I need to swear, okay? It might be slightly funnier if I did because I really wanted to there. But I'm trying to show a little restraint from time to time. But when I made the model of the Morgan Castle, I used sugar cubes, spray paint, toilet paper rolls, and those Dixie cups. And I'm not lying, it looked almost identical to this middle part of the Hogwarts. Maybe mine looked a little better because I added more detail. So it feels like, it feels, because I overall love this Harry Potter, okay? I don't want Eric Benyer being disappointed with me. Highly doubt he listens to the 20th ranked Twippy whatever podcast. But in case someone sent him a sound clip or something, Eric, I love you. I don't blame the fact that, I'll just say it's mid. I won't say it's bad. It's not bad. Like, it's not just flat plastics. No, and for, like you said, like for something that comes with a set price, like, it's fine, right? But my issue is the set price is 15K US. Okay. So that's like 23 grand Canadian. So, okay, so that price includes what, the different art package and the topper. Is that it? Yes. Or is there other additional things? Uh, there's, okay, okay, okay, okay. I don't, I don't know. Y'all had to do this to me. Okay, see, the miss just managed in the, um. Okay, so, all right. There's different art blades as well. There's different crown molding. But the game itself. The gameplay is identical, which I love because if we had to, oh boy, if we had to, I forgot to plug this in when I came over here. It's in there. I'm going. Thank you. So if we had to, I just love the art on the CE so much. I'd rather get the CE used in three to four years from now when we go to sell the homestead in 2028 or 2029. I'd rather buy it then than try to be on a tight budget and sell everything I own. and I couldn't even afford a renown, but let's say two years from now we could, I wouldn't want to spend $10,000 U.S. and get the art package that's like decent, but meh. Well, decent, we will say this. First of all, let's just tell us some of your art credentials. You're very humble, but you did take art at the University of Western Ontario, even though it wasn't your major, or was? Yeah, no, it wasn't. Okay, but you did take art there. You love art. You're a painter. You have your art. I'm looking at one, two, three, four, five, six of your pictures right there. I know there's three more. You're very humble. You're very calm. You're very kind. You're literally the anti-Orby. Yes. Pretty much. And more when I use the wand. Are you the yin or am I the yang? I don't know. Well, I don't know. Which one's more positive? Okay, well, you're the white one, I guess. Wait, now then that sounds racist. I don't know. Let's move forward here. You are the cool, awesome person, and I am the spaz. Okay? Anyone who said that, anyone who called me a weird, okay, I'll just say a name and you tell me if it's probably true. Okay? Spaz. Yeah. Hot-headed. Yeah. Weirdo. Yeah. Strange. Well, I think we both are, but. Wow. You're a little obscure. I wouldn't be with you if you weren't. But you're like weird in like a cool way. I'm weird enough, like, what's that guy doing over there? You know, I'm that guy. What's that guy doing over there, that weird guy? But I guess there was some, I'm not going to go deep into this, but there was some kind of insinuations and names that were called to me a couple times this month by at least three pinball podcasters that I wasn't super appreciative. And I want to start by saying I didn't deal with it in the correct way. And recently, and we were going to talk about this later, but it kind of just came up organically recently. My buddy Joe Chervino, the dote himself, has challenged me on his pinball degenerates live stream to go not one but two full years without having any type of beef because I jokingly said in his live stream, I jokingly said to him in the live stream. Okay. What did you say? You got very distracted there. You were getting an Orby ADHD moment. I was listening that whole time. I don't care. eyes right here I am the center of attention at all times of course you are but here's the wonderful news I love you, I'm in love with you I'm here for you and I need to know right now do you think I can accept the dote, okay the most degenerate of all time himself Joe Cervino has dared me has bet me, has literally said he wants me to do it or he's going to be disappointed again can I go two years of a pinball podcast with no beefs? I really hope so. I want everyone to see your face. Your face there. That's why you should be recording these things. Your face is so funny. I said you want to record and you said not if we're singing. Well, not that part, but the rest of it, sure. What am I going to do? Start recording after the best part of the whole podcast? Yeah, of course. Kaneda loves Pink Pony Club. He's the only MAGA guy who loves Pink Pony Club. He listened to us sing all night long. He probably made it on a CD by now. Or you could just secretly record the singing part and then be like, oh, hey, we're going to start now. Pink Pony Club. Okay. Let's. Are we going back to the art? Yes. But I just want to close this by saying something that Joe brought to my attention while talking that I had not thought of previously was that he really dislikes it when I call out or talk about in a negative or rude way other content creators. you agree with joe i agree with joe i thank you yes i agree with that yes at the same time i kind of brag about my podcast being authentic and honest so when i hear other podcasters go on if they just say i'm a weirdo or i'm a dork or i'm a nerd or i'm too loud or i'm egotistical or i'm a jerk or a little bit of an arse those things are fine to me that's within the realm do you remember the moment in Kill Bill when I was gonna, I forget her name. Um. No, the awesome Asian American chick. Lucy Liu. Do you remember when she ran over and she chopped that guy's head off and she said I always encourage you to be highly critical of everything that I do. But the two things that are off topic is talking about and she lost her chats because she was getting made fun of because of her race and it's kind of like to me I'm usually okay I'm never a chill calm guy but like from time to time I want to be a chill calm person and I can I'm getting better at doing it slightly more often but if someone comes at my mental health or talks about my children or my family I'm basically gonna lose my chats and had I not done the podcast where I'd call out the other two podcasters for doing I timed it I did a 32 second beef or joke about the other guy well on a lot of drugs from getting a double root canal yeah but no I was wrong I was 100% wrong and the best thing to deal with that is to say nothing and move on yeah I mean like well no but I understand that you want to acknowledge it but I don't think you should spend a whole hour discussing something that could be talked about in five minutes God damn, she's good. She's right, and Joe probably would agree with her. I should have just done a five-minute little bit like, hey, guys, that wasn't cool. This was true, but this was not true. This was true, but this was not true. Because I felt like the whole episode, you said what you had to say within the first five, ten minutes, but then you kept re-saying the same thing for the next hour. And to me, I understand what you said at the beginning, but at the end, I was just like, okay, dude, just turn it off. It's too much. Probably no one got to the end of that episode. It was horrible. And you know what? That's been a fault of mine my entire life. True or false, I've had over 50 jobs in my life. True. True or false, I've got fired from a good chunk of them or quit when I was about to get fired. Probably true. Good. It is rather challenging for me to hold a full-time, regular, typical type job. Where there's some type of authority. Correct. That sort of oversees what you do. Yes. Yeah it challenging But other than January February March where I lazy AF do I not between collectibles tea running the homestead and being a parent do I not most weeks put in close to 30 hours Yes, you do. Okay. And, overall, since we've moved out here, I say this all the time, we have way less fun, but I'm a lot more calm. What do you mean when you say we have less fun? Well, when I lived in London, I could go to a pinball tournament any weekend. I could go see the Raptors, go see the Jays, go to a big concert. But then I was more stressed. I was more argumentative. Believe it or not, I was more rude. I was more angry. I was more egotistical. Now, as you age, these things lessen. But also, as we moved out to the coast, I'm less of all of those things. Can you... And I wind up... You were 100%... I feel that maybe you enjoy them more when you have the opportunity to do them. Like, if you, like, next weekend we have, like, we're going to go to St. John's and we're going to play pinball and do some other stuff. Oh, God. I'm looking forward to doing that. If I was doing that every weekend. Tom MacArthur, shout out to the New Brunswick Rep. Yeah, but if I was doing that every week, I just wouldn't care. You know what I mean? I hear what you're saying. It's more of an experience because we don't do it as often or it's not available to us as much. It's more special. Okay. that is fair but all I'm trying to bring home is the fact that since we have moved out here for the most part have I been easier going and easier to get along with yes you have been have I cut back on my drinking probably by 60-70% yes I haven't had a ciggy in over a year and since we moved out here I bought only 2 packs in 6 years yes I bumped cigarettes off people when I was drunk outside of the last year so it's not like I haven't had more ciggies I think I paid a guy in Halifax like 5 bucks when I was really drunk one night, but I hadn't had a smoke in a long time. So I mean, hey, I love chugging a ciggy as much as the next guy after a couple brew haws, but you hate cigarettes more than anything on earth. And we both had family members that have got very sick from cancer and such. So it's something I'm going to avoid the rest of my life. So I would say our move out here overall was better, but the biggest issue is I miss all of my friends back in Ontario. So after I moved out here, me just chatting like how I used to chat with them at the bar or at a pinball tournament became this particular podcast and I use this podcast almost as a letter of love home to the 50 to 100 people that I played with in southwestern Ontario all the time and I think over the last five years all of those people have stopped listening so when I heard Joe Chervino the dote himself and his live stream mention a couple things including he was you know it seemed like he was very disappointed in me, I came to the conclusion, I honestly thought for three days, should I just end the podcast? Because it's like, I got into doing this because I wanted to make more friends. I got into doing this because I want to connect with people on a pinball level. I got into this because I want to spread the joy of pinball. And if at this point, because of my, I've had three very negative root episodes this year. I did smash my freaking head outside, which is kind of an excuse, but I was livid about the, let's just say the political situation in the U.S. for some time, but I've calmed down about that a lot and it looks like, I mean, the Canadian GDP went up by 2.2% last month. For the very first time in decades, we sold more oil to China last year, or sorry, last month than we did to America and it looks like we're going to be just fine because they are paying us a lot more than America was. So from a political level, I'm not freaking out about that stuff anymore. But I also went a little bit hard on someone I was a bit jealous of. And I've kind of got over that. And I want to move on. And I think I'll save the very end of the announcement to the end. But I just want to say, Joe Cervino, challenge accepted. Will you also challenge me with Joe to go two years minimum, minimum, with no beefs? Two years, no drama. drama free until 2027 let's go to heaven all right no more singing okay tell me about this artwork the harry pot this is what they're here for honey no one cares about drama talk when i first saw it i think i had just seen like the one side and i was a little well this came out a day earlier like i was a little confused because like what there's stuff missing you know yeah but then when they show the video they show the different sides they show the top part the i don't know what do you call it the top part on the yeah yeah yeah i forget what they call that i heard actually on the spooky live they call this part this part they explain like the art that was designed was was the people that designed the books and it sort of all came together and it made more sense to me and i appreciate a lot more than i had originally when i just saw the one side yeah however there are some aspects that I feel like are missing. Not necessarily on the cabinet art, but on playfield art. Whoa! Wait, wait, wait. Don't go into the cabinet art. Don't go into the playfield art. Okay, hold on, hold on. Hold it right there. Okay, someone's in our driveway. Can you let Draco out, please? And would you pass me a brusca? Because I don't know if you guys know, but on the Four Man's Pinball Podcast, in all subsidiaries, we have a small segment called is it Owen? okay it's probably just someone turning around guys I'm so sorry Draco Franchi was napping Luna Tuna Elwin Agar was napping but they're both awake and alive so let's see here what we can skip to she's going to come talk about the CER a little bit more in a second and I will say this there wasn't one or two but there was at least three people not just podcasters but content people who were like a little iffy on the CD art at the first, they found it a bit jarring because it didn't look anything like the movies, and they're most likely people who only saw the movies and didn't read the books. And obviously the most stunning artwork on planet Earth on any pinball machine, you know, any good art takes some time. You tell me you look at the Mona Lisa and you go, damn, she's hot. Of course you don't. You've got to stare at the Mona Lisa for literally hours from feet away and be on a lot of good drugs. No, I'm just kidding. but like you know what I mean a lot of people wouldn't think a Van Gogh artwork looks beautiful with him with you know the self-portrait with his ear cut off okay maybe Starry Night people could say Starry Night look gorgeous but I've said this before and I will say it again especially the right hand side the first side that if you're playing it from the from the flippers not from behind I don't know why you'd be behind a pinball machine that's just weird but from the cabinet artwork I think this is the only artwork most beautiful enough honey that needed to be done in the mic during the what you drink they don't know you're doing that weird face so you need to be recording me well you told me not to I didn't want you to know I was singing why you're such a beautiful singer if I had your voice I would have at least 100 people on Facebook not uh well yeah i don't believe that 500 or not 6 000 okay let's see here tell me what you love about the cer or you you were saying at the start you didn't love it because you didn't understand it yeah i didn't understand it but then when they were explaining it in the movie it made sense okay so like this first side panel is like book one through three then the side panel is the different books and the final i don't know um but i liked how it sort of told the story through the different panels. So you, like many other people, once you heard Eric Meunier explain the Mena Lima... Yes, once I explained it and I could see all four panels, it made sense. Like, it flowed with the story. Right. Yes. So I do like it. I like the colors. I like the art. And I like, yeah, how... Stop. You're putting your hand right in front of the... She keeps putting her hand in front of her face and then it's blocking the microphone. I know that you like to talk with your hands, but you can't put it in front of the mic or they won't hear you. okay so just honestly what what is what do you grade the artwork on both sides i don't know an eight i don't know so i think it's the most beautiful artwork i've ever seen on a pinball machine and you're only giving it an eight so what cabinet do you like better i mean i like that one because it's original right i like how it flows with the story no i know but if for you this is only an eight what would a ten be i don't i don't know okay well what's your from an artistic view what is a pinball machine you'd give a nine or a ten i don't know i just say franchi franchi's artwork christopher franchi all of them monsters okay uh monsters black and white gta come on or grand theft auto oh news headline can i do a little mini sure okay check this out just today, I saw that the most expensive version, and my jaw dropped to the floor. I don't have this kind of money. I wouldn't even consider it. But with an art package like Franchise, on American Pinball just announced, I keep trying to call it Grand Theft Auto, was Galactic Tank Force, GTF. GTF. Galactic Tank Force is on sale for half price, basically. it's coming down from 15k to 7200 something so guys the end i also saw the barbecue one is on sale go check that out both of those oh no um the jeff teolas one with the callouts uh the lords of the what valhalla the valhalla one's on sale go check it out okay going back to harry potter at work what would you give the playfield if you give the cabin eight what would you give the playfield they're all the same on all of them well can you show me a picture yeah okay so i don't know if i want to critique the art on that one because i really had a chance to look at it but i feel like the the game itself is very there's a lot in it like there's a lot of mechs there's a lot of toys there's a lot of things to do which is awesome like you know what i mean um but do you think it pops i do i think look at this apron oh it's beautiful i think that's Mina Lima or whatever but still so the apron might be different as you were asking I just want to say someone who knows way more about art than me could you in any way shape or form criticize or make fun of or say that the artwork on the cab is not beautiful no okay and this is what I said before I love Franchi's artwork more than anyone on earth I still wouldn't want the cabinet of Munsters up on my wall I want the side cabinet I want especially this right side cabinet would you allow me to put any pinball cabinets or back glasses in our living room? Probably not Absolutely not but if we had this and it was squared off and framed nice or whatever could you not see either side, the left or the right of this beautiful picture and you didn't really describe what was in the picture but could you not see this being like just think of this framed like this could you not see that on our wall as a beautiful like like isn't this the hungarian um turtleneck i gotcha which one is that i made you laugh i don't know okay so that one's got the half-blood prince yeah because there's the potions book right um what else is in there that's the horn that's the horny guy that's the guy from the order of the phoenix um we got the goblet of fire right yes center i just think artistically it's just one of, and I don't want to upset Jeremy Packer (Zombie Yeti), Zombie Yeti, Kevin O'Connor. We have so many. Our work is not the issue. We need more coders. Where have all the coders gone? Long time passing where have all Sorry. Okay. I was speed running divorce there. Alright, so that's 110 Soldier. We don't need to talk about this anymore. What I think and what I think everybody would like to know is that are you finally, if not forever, sold on the fact that we need to get a Harry Potter, whether it be the CE or the Arcade Edition? I do. Just because, like, I have loved those books since I was a kid, and I've been, like, so absorbed with the Harry Potter world. And, like, we read the story to our kids when they were babies, and it's just like a full circle. Our families watched all the movies together at least, like, three or four times. I think through COVID we watched all the movies again. And, yeah, I think it's a perfect fit. oh so okay I want you to ask me this question and whisper it in your ear come here whatcha drinkin whatcha drinkin oh thanks for asking me Ian or Drew no I'm just kidding I wanted I was thinking about those nerds today so I wanted to replicate what they did but I'm drinking from a marvel glass hashtag mug life yes thanks Gary V alright so I am drinking a Sleeman honey brown lager the only time you usually hear me talking about a lager is when i'm doing an upper decker because that's where i'd be dropping the lagers but here's the thing i don't love lagers but why am i drinking this please tell me i think you know there is no craft beer in the muddy river variety store in my town of river rivers nova scotia so i was stuck whoa big burp I was stuck having to drink one 7% from our hometown of London, Ontario, Blackfly Orange Crush Vodka Soda 7%-er. Like, get real. That's crazy. 500 milliliter. Then I crushed a Blue Freezy, and I think they do have these in the States. It's like the Mike's Hard Lemonade brand, but it's just Mike's now, and it's like he doesn't do lemonade. He does freezies. I think they still do those, but I think it's just Mike's. Right. No, they definitely still do the lemonade. I'm sorry for cutting you off. And they definitely still do the iced tea. But tell everybody what you had for your second drink, which I got from the market today. I got a wild apple cider from... Okay, wild is undercutting it. What is it? It's the F word, honey. Free range You close I don know It wild foraged So 100 of these apples were not specifically grown They weren fertilized They didn get pesticides These are just wild, abandoned, like just at the side of the road or maybe on someone's property. Like the one that we have on our farm. That we've made cider from. Woo! But we don't have any left. So tell them what vintage I got for you, which was very tricky. This man knows I am a craft beer nerd. He knows I am a mead mentor. he knows that I have the need for mead. It was 2021, so a COVID cider. It's possible, guys, if you never hear my show again, it's not just because I'm quitting for life. It's because I got the COVIDs from just having a little sniff of the cider. I really can't drink cider. I get hardcore gurks or gucks or what's that called? Or gird? Gird. Gird. I don't like the word. Gird is worse than moist. But basically I get like a little bit of heartburn. I can't even have a sip. I can't have a sip of non-alcoholic apple cider. That's sad because it's really delicious. Get them in cider. Who would be messaging me? I'm doing a podcast. Jesus, Lord, honey, we're at 44 minutes. Why didn't you tell me? I don't even know where that timer is. It's almost like you're just here for the ride. Here for the ride. ride on it hopefully that's owen saying he's on his way home be nice to see him he just owen just got his uh amherst golf membership for the summer because he has a full-time job this summer working at the heritage model museum uh basically like touring people on the local history of our good old uh river hibbert here so that's really cool if you guys do come out to the river make sure you do that and to all my friends back in ontario get your butts out here and visit orby one time this summer. I should be coming home the last week of July, unfortunately, because I'm still waiting to hear when and if I'm going to have a son at home to take care of one of the dogs. I can't say for sure. Are you going on your phone in the middle of a podcast? No, I was talking to Steve Owen and it was not him. Okay, it was probably just Glenn the Skateboarder, but I owe Glenn one call out per show. There you go, Glenn. I don't know if people ever notice that. I try to work in one One Glenn call-out per show. It doesn't always work out. I try to work in one Seinfeld or Curb Your Enthusiasm or The Office comment. Because I'm going to do a mini-tiny tangent ever. I just want a couple sentence answers. It doesn't have to be ten minutes. Does Pinball need to get either do-do-do-do-do-do-do-do-do-do topics? The top five comedy pins I want to see are Curb Your Enthusiasm, Seinfeld, The Office, Cheers because even the Cheers demographic is a bit older but Ted Danson is still around Woody Harrelson is still around Norm just passed rest in peace Norm but Cliffy is still around Cliff is not going to charge you that much guys oh hey there hi Norm he's not going to charge you a lot I don't know that one let's be on my age guys I married young my wife was born in 1994 and I was conceived in 1979 that's right i'm 45 and she just turned 30 i think it's time to upgrade just kidding you're not telling what year you're born no it doesn't matter but i'm just seinfeld maybe office sure okay well you're at least half a decade you're about half a decade younger than me so yeah for you just barely okay name for me a different comedy that's more recent that you'd rather would it be like parks and rec or like what's a really you can't do like righteous gemstones that's just too that's too rated R. Like, what have we watched that... Okay, am I at least right? Tell me in a couple sentences why we need a comedy pinball machine. One, a movie. Wait, I didn't even think about, like, Spongebob. Like, I didn't think about animations. I didn't think about movies. There's not a Spongebob one? No! Thank you, honey! There is no Spongebob pinball machine! Because I feel like Spongebob is, like, one of those shows where they, like, hide jokes for adults to enjoy while they're watching it with their kids. That is a stoner show. Big time. Well, or parents. Get your gummies. So that the parents are like, actually like, okay, I'll watch this because like there's actually funny shit in it. Right? Thank you. Did you swear and I didn't? I have impulse control issues. She just kicked the mic and she dropped an S-bomb. Okay. Mom and dad, I'm so sorry that your child just heard a word. Tell them it's shats. Shats is a not swear word for when you do what with a ball, honey? I don't know. Damn! This girl, at least you're honest. I don't remember. It's something. Schatzing is when you get up on top of the topper and you take an upper decker on top of the most beautiful CE Hogwarts. I thought that that's what you did when you go to Stern. No! Gary Stern, it wasn't me. I think it was Mike Vinikour. Why does everyone blame Mike? It wasn't Mike. Sorry, Mike. I'm sorry. I just saw you like the Facebook post about it. That's why you don't invite Albert. Josh Sharpe invited me we're getting the emails no I did before that oh yeah well before that Jesus but wait no no no you don't understand Stern never invited me to the openings till after after your big breakdown honey you were in the kitchen I know and I was like holy what's going on here it was either my best performance or my worst we're still not sure I wasn't quite sure if it was real or if it was acting or if it was a combination once per day i scare her because i i play a trick on her or i pretend to be angry about something that's completely facetious and she looks at me for half of a second and goes is he real well sometimes you can't tell you're very convincing thank you man yeah i know that i'm sorry i'm trying to be more calm um look in comparison into the 19 year old Danielle in the 20 I don't want to give away I don't I don't want to out your age but for a guy that was say five years or so older than you I was a freaking mess I have no clue how we started dating you're crazy you're you crazy for dating mid-20s Albert so with the fact that we're still here 20 years later is absolutely incredible and astounding what's not astounding is the time we are at 50 minutes so let's get back into this okay so let's put a pretty little bow on harry potter oh overall thoughts do you need the c because the artwork's that good i mean if the artwork's only an eight what would you say the non-ce artwork i don't okay well that was the other thing too like originally i really liked it until i saw some close-up shots that look like it was an original. And that made me question what's going on. What are you talking about, AI? Yeah, because the one picture showed Dumbledore with a really messed up finger, and I can't remember what the other shot was because I haven't seen it recently. But it made me question, why would someone draw it like that? Yeah, the one dragon has a weird eye here and here. Well, I don't care about the dragon. It's more so like the human characters or wizard characters, witches' characters, whatever, that, you know, were anatomically correct that they weren't. And that was sort of confusing. Yo, I didn't see any anatomically correct people. Well, no, but, like, you know what I mean. Yeah. Where, like, the finger was off, but, like, I don't know. I know what you're saying. You know what I mean? So Colin, my boy Colin of the Kineticists, who I had so much fun interviewing last year. Oh, this summer, by the way, it's possible, after I get the new microphone, I might be starting to do interviews again. I would love to do that because you will be home in the summer. And the main reason it's challenging for me to record during the week is because I don't know where, when, and how Draco's going to go for a nap or chill. I basically have to record when he... This is... Is he not the most hyper dog you've ever seen in your life? He is, but he's being very lovely right now. He's being incredible. Mr. Draco... Mr.... I'm going to call him Draco, not Franchie. Because I don't think Franchie's ever been this chill in his life. I'm just kidding, Franchie. We need to take him for a nice walk on the beach. Yes, long walk on the beach today. So he just chills for like a good hour and a bit. well you do this that's that's the key okay let's i don't want to talk about the ai art too much because i am kind of i don't retro ralph just put i'm still formulating my opinion retro ralph shout out retro he just put out an episode talking about the pin side drama and i know that's including the ai art and what i want to say for now is i'm trying to be more measured i'm trying to be more reasonable i'm trying to be more chill i'm trying to make sure i'm a better team player and because we haven't proven yet if it is AI, I don't want to take a stance. No, and I don't feel like I would base my decision on purchasing the game on that. I feel like maybe there's some component, like there's so much in it, but I still feel like there are some components that are missing that I would have liked to have seen. Okay, well Colin of the Kineticist did an entire deep dive. It was the best. Colin, I don't even know if you listen anymore. I assume you don't. Who would? Barely anyone does. I am the L-E-L-E-L-E of Pinball Podcasts, or the C-E as it would be in Harry Potter. But Colin did the best investigative journalism I can remember seeing in pinball, probably since all the Deep Roots stuff went down. And I forget the dude's name, but he did this like, he was like going there and taking pictures and looking through windows. And so Colin did just like a great job. And this is not to like, it's always so hard to say stuff without, you know, pissing off other people jason knapp of naps arcade and tons of other content creators are doing a killer job covering harry potter but he actually does believe after speaking to professionals including a guy who worked previously on harry potter one doing animations and effects said no this and this and this and he pointed out this and this wasn't done quite right and this this is suspicious so usually when there's smoke there's fire but colin directly called jersey jack's own Jack Winarian and he supposedly adamantly said multiple times there's no AI. That being said, what Colin admitted is there's not really any way to tell if the artist itself used some AI to brush up or clean up some things. Fair enough. And I can look past that, I suppose. I guess. So what would you buy? I don't like to go over and out. Would you buy the Pro or the Z? Okay, how much are they? $10,000 USD or $15,000. $10,000 for the cheap one. I would probably get the cheaper one and probably get a Lego topper. it doesn't come with a topper it doesn't have the beauty there's a lot of things that's missing but the gameplay is identical it has that beautiful awesome enchanted stairway in the middle like it has everything and I would be content and I would be a little disappointed that there's not enough like Voldemort in it wait so are you saying we're getting a Harry Potter I think we should yo guys this is maybe my best other than the day I married the love of my life this is incredible I'm getting a Harry Potter high five bam okay that was too hard I'm sorry did that hurt no oh good okay it might have been like for your earbuds I'm sorry it was too close to the mic but I'm so excited let's work towards getting a Harry Potter um when I was talking with Joe earlier uh you know he did um encourage me to do the no drama thing and another thing he mentioned that might help was maybe taking a little bit of a break. I'm a little bit burnt out. So I just wanted to announce to everybody, I'm not ending the show. Pimble Nerds podcast is not gone forever. I thought about that for some time after being, I felt, I won't say unfairly because I definitely deserved some of it. It felt like it was put on a little bit heavy for someone who joked around for 30 seconds before that and then got 30 and then, and then I went even heavier. So it's like, you know, two wrongs don't make a right. My best friend ever, my mom, Josie, she would always say two wrongs don't make a right and she used that particular saying with me often because i tend to one-up somebody so yes yes if someone hurts my feelings or bugs me i have to get back at them worse yes and that's something i'm working on yes and i want to get better at it and just to be open and honest with everyone listening if you're someone in the past who i pissed off or annoyed or i like joe said i disappointed him i apologize i'd like to work towards being more... Do you remember for my first 200 episodes, my first two years doing this, people always said, oh, you're too positive, you're not critical enough, you don't have any hot takes, you just love every game. Remember everyone said that? Yes. Okay. It seems like you're kind of skeptical. You have arguably not listened to many of my episodes. No, just like the ones you sort of record at when I'm home. Right. So what I want to say is I'm going to take a break. I don't know if it's going to be 10 days. I don't know if it's going to be two weeks. I don't know if it's going to be a month. I don't think I'll be gone a month, but I'm going to take a week or two. I'm going to enjoy you. I'm going to enjoy being a dad. That sounded weird. I'm sorry. I don't want to tell them what we're doing later on tonight. Let's just talk about what we're doing right now, which is we're going to get off here. We might go enjoy an adult beverage or two. I want you nerds to have a wonderful night. Go back and listen to some of my other episodes if you ever run out. It has been great content the last, like, okay, I think the last week or two was okay. but like for about a month before that I was going through the toughest time of my life getting all this dentist work done that I've been avoiding for 10 or 15 years I had a 40 millimeter stent put in and for two or three days I had to take those stupid hydromorphine whatever they it's basically meth essentially I was doing meth for two nights it's not that but it's whatever that they give you there and I basically was being a bit of a dick and I was out of pocket and I have apologized and Joe I accept your challenge let's go two years drama free or or more maybe the rest of my life. I love you. I love each and every pinball nerd listening. I want to get out and play more tournaments. I hope to be doing that soon. I believe July 17th, there's one coming up in Moncton. Everybody, I love you. I'm in love with you. If you're someone who I had beef with in the past, I apologize. I would like to move forward. The main thing that kept sticking out my head today was Joe said, but when you publicly call out each other, it causes people who like both of you to have to choose and make a team and I don't want to be divisive in pinball. It's like a breakup. It is like a breakup and I don't want to have to make people choose because they're always going to choose Donna not me. So that kind of sucks me losing all my friends in the breakup. So it's not that I want to make up or break up. It's that I just want to move forward and be respectful to the other content creators and try my best. I'm still going to troll a little but I'm going to try my best to keep it within reason. Does that sound fair to everybody? Oh, that sounds lovely. Guys, she's yawning. Hey, I was the first one the whole time. I know, but you yawned right before we started, and I was like, yo, girl, we gotta sing. See, I can hold it. She did well. She did well. All right. Until next time, say it if you know it, honey. Eat, sleep, breathe. Harry Potter. Harry Potter. You're a wizard, Harry.
