He's a real American. Yeah, yeah. He fights for what is right. Yeah. He fights. He's like a good role model, because he just like did whatever it took to get big, like he took those steroid pills. Oh, yeah, yeah, those things you like, you shove them up your butt when you have hemorrhoids. No, Beavis, those are depositories. These are these pills that make you like all big and strong, but then they like make your nads shrink. Whoa. What's the point? Yeah, really. Coming to you from beautiful upstate New York, this is the Slam Tilt Podcast, a show about all things pinball. I'm your host, Ron Hallett, here with the other host, Bruce Nightingale. After that long intro, I'm a little tired. Yes, we went a little long. We had to pay homage to Hulk Hogan and Ozzy. Well, luckily we have our real American hero, Hulk Hogan slash Robert Mueller slash the Thief of the Night. Like a thief in the night. Well, you know, brother, that trial still hasn't happened yet, dude. I still need to find a real lawyer. Well, actually, no. My lawyer needs to get up to speed, dude. Yeah. This is episode 254. Wowzers. And we've been going a little while because afternoon, it's evening. Good afternoon still. It's afternoon. I still see some. Eight o'clock is afternoon, according to Bruce. Yep. I barely made it here. My car broke down. I called AAA. They left the car and towed me away. Yay. Boots. Anyone get that? Anyone know what that's from? Okay. If you know what that's from, email us at slamtailpodcast at gmail.com. Because that is a lyric from a song. Yes, it is. Yes. Other lines like, steak and sex, my favorite pair. I have them both the same way. Very rare. Very rare. Yeah. That's it. That's it. That's the only clues you get. You need to name the song and the artist. Thank you. Yeah. How's it going? It's going good. Our fans, I know, are rejoicing right now. And there was much rejoicing. Yay. There was. Yay. Okay. Because we were at a location together that was not Stomp. That's true. Yes. We were at Pocketeer. The Beast. Yes. Yes. Which I didn't – they have a whole new side of the building. They do. I didn't expect that. I walked in like, oh, where's the tournament? Where's the tournament? Like, whoa, what's this other side of the – is that all new? That's all new. It was actually built last year, but they didn't get all the stuff done. So it's pretty nice. I think they added literally – I think it was like 14,000 square feet. Yeah, it's like almost the size of the other side. It's insane. It's insane. But we'll get to that. A little echoey, but it was a good show. Little echoey Echoey, echoey Okay So are you ready to start? I got news items I am always ready to start Okay So I think this happened right after we recorded Can't get a break We had a break Give me a break Give me a break Break me off a piece of that Kit Kat bar Jack Danger no longer designing well as soon as he finishes his latest game no longer designing it will be head of community whatever that means and he will be streaming on deadflip again which makes no fucking well no but he's also streaming he's also streaming on stern uh he streamed the entire four days of comic-con san diego comic-con where stern was yes which i noticed when you came into the comic One of the first banners you saw was Beavis and Butthead. I'm just saying. Yep. Only the best. Only the best. Stern, you know, it's right there. You're right there. They're there again. Just saying. But, yeah, he was there for the four days streaming on Stern's YouTube channel. So what do you think about this? Like, why? I mean, I liked his designs because they were totally different. I don't think they sold well. I'm being honest. Well, Foo, they did Vault. Yeah. And X-Men needs code help. And needs code help. And the problem is people already passed it. They really are. People aren't going to go unless it's a really cheap deal from their distributor. Like, literally, distributors have all three versions. That's not good. you can go out there and find an x-men le premium or pro from a lot of distributors i wonder if he liked the design part but not all the other things that are involved maybe not he might like the head where you have to cook because i think elwyn said like design to play feels the easy part it's it's the coordinating the whole project that's the Yes. Yes. And I'm just wondering if that was just like, nah, I just, no, no. I think his number one love literally is just streaming. Streaming. Which he's going to have trouble doing now because I just saw on Facebook before he recorded, he blew his shoulder out. Yep. He's like in a sling. It's like torn labrum. They had to reattach his bicep tendon or something. Like, what the fuck did he do? It said pinball-related injury. So I'm thinking he was – oh, okay. Sorry. So is he playing big dick? Is that what you're saying? Yes. Maybe it's so big it just flopped out of his hands, took his shoulder out, and that was it. He's done. It almost seems more like he was lifting a game and maybe it started to slip. I'm like, I can hold this up with one arm. Oh. No. No, I can't. There goes my entire arm. Yep. I wonder if he's going to get his studio back or is he going to – Studio. Studio. Studio. I think he still has it. I didn't think he did. I thought he still did. So what do you think his next game is? Everyone says it's Pokemon. Come on, you're Mr. You-Know-Everything. I have only heard the next game. Well, everyone's heard the next. Everyone is saying the next game is Star Wars, which is confusing to me because, like, okay, is it the prequels? And I'm being told, like, I had a segment I wrote down here, rumors I heard at Pinburgh. Yeah. And basically I was told at Pinberg, it's like, yeah, it's Star Wars. It's the original trilogy. It's Borg. And I'm like, what? But they already made the best Star Wars. It's already made. It's already made. It was made back in 1997. The original trilogy by Sega. Star Wars trilogy by Sega. Oh, God. It's better than the newest turd. The 100 TIE Fighters on the play field or whatever that was. Well, it's better than stomping on a button to get your TIE Fighters. I'd rather shoot them with a pinball. I would rather shoot them with a pinball than go. Okay, okay. Now, Bruce, you like Star Wars, and you hate the Star Wars game that Steve Ritchie did. So, shouldn't you be excited for this? No, because they'll fuck it up again. They will. Nobody's been able to do Star Wars right. Nobody. Honestly, Data East did it best. East? No. The Dead East did it best. They did it the best out of everyone, because think about it. And I've only played a couple of the Hengans, and they play okay, but it plays like Space Invaders. Think about it. Dead East, they had R2, and he moved. Yes. And it had Death Star, and it moved. Death Star approaching, and you got to hit the shot. And you have the really bad C-3PO in person there. Shoot the Death Star. Yeah. But it's better than, you know, the newest Star Wars, because that's a sucks. It's better than Pinball 2000 Star Wars. Is it better than Costco Star Wars, which was my next subject? Still bad. Still bad. Still the same rules. So Costco Star Wars. So this is the same Star Wars. It's called Home Edition Plus. It's the same one they did a few years ago. Yes, but with a bigger LCD. But with a bigger screen, an actual wood play field, and I believe it costs less than like the Jurassic Park one did. Yes. And it's going to be sold at Costco. And I think there's a fake coin door on it. Like, it doesn't take coins, but it looks like a coin door. I haven't actually seen it. I've seen the original one. It's the same play field. I actually, I liked it when I played it, except the lockdown bar was, like, super cheap feeling, like it was going to, too much nudging and it would come off. Well, that's what it felt like. But what do you think? They're trying, supposedly, well, not supposedly. There's a lot of them out there. George Gomez on his recent Loser Kid interview, he said they did well enough that Costco said, you know, let's do this again. Let's do it again. So what do you got to say to that, Bruce, Mr. Negative? Yeah, I thought so. Yay, pinball. Speechless. Wow. It's going to – you'll see them discounted eventually. Oh, yeah. Yeah, near the end. Yeah, people do not have 5K to spend on a – Christmas toy. That's what it really is. Is it 5K? I think it was 5K. $47.99. There you go. Get it right. Well, then the tax and everything like that, you're up to 5K. Okay. So guess what? You're at 5K. It's cheap. Don't get me wrong. It's, you know. I think it could be a good gateway drug, but I still don't think it's quite cheap enough. No, it's not cheap enough. No, you have to get. But they sold them, so. Yeah, but. Okay. So if Costco is selling them for $47.99, how much do you think Stern is selling them to Costco? Got you thinking now. Significantly less than that. Oh, yeah. I'm thinking $3,000. Okay. And they got a whole new nice box with them and everything like that, printed box. Yeah, they made the box look fancier because it's got more like a consumer product. I got the Kenner toys from the 70s. Oh, okay. It was pretty cool. I was like, that was cool. I like that. Put it in the box next to my Kinect 4 box. Oh, my. Pretty sneaky, sis. Yeah. I'll just do all these dated references. Oh, you are dated. I am dated, if anyone would get any of those references. But, yeah, we'll see what happens. Will it be around for Christmas? I don't think so. I think they'll sell the 500. I think they said, I don't know how many they said, but I'm thinking 500 has to be done. Yeah, Gomez said it wasn't really enough to impact their line too much, making moves like it wasn't that. Well, their line can do, what, 75 now a day? So if you have a two-week dead spot or you need someone to fill. 75 a day. Yeah, I know. I think Spooky does around, they're averaging around 25 a week. Yeah. I remember when Stern was just 40. You remember everything. You remember when there was no Stern. Yes, I do. You remember pre-pinball. I remember when it was just pins. You were there with Henry Williams when he invented the tilt. Yes. Zach was complaining over his shoulder. It'll never work. Jesus. I can see that. That'd be hilarious. It's 1930. The young Zach, like, it'll never work. It'll never work. You're just doing something stupid. Hold on, let me 3D print a new plumb off for you. Oh, God. Couldn't you see that? Yes. I have Zach's stuff to talk about, but I haven't got to that yet. I'm going through all my news items first. Ooh, let's keep on going with the news. So, Pinball was on the Oats show again. Yeah. Did you see this at all? I didn't see it. Yeah, well, it's on at 1.30 in the morning. Ah, prime viewing time. Yes. Yes. and it was based off the New Robert Englunds Pinball League. And they did some kind of – what was the format? It was time, right? I don't know what the format was. I thought it was something like they got a certain amount of time. Yeah, but – Which you always have to do. Yeah, 1.30 in the morning. Thanks, guys. I'd rather watch pillow fighting, which was on at 3 o'clock in the afternoon. Oh, my God. They had pillow fighting at 3 o'clock in the afternoon on the Ocho. Wow. Because we were sitting at Pocketeer. I'm up on the screen like, Pocketeer? The one pillow fight they showed was a joke. It was just the two ESPN guys hitting each other. So I don't know if it was supposed to be legit. This was like 3 o'clock. They were going. So this was legit professional pillow fighting. Okay, just checking. Yes, so that's bad. But at 3 o'clock, you have pillow fighting. But pinball that's around for 80 years, we'll put that in. They've got to graduate to cornholing where they actually get on ESPN. Well, they are. That's how it started. Yeah, cornholing. Cornholing is like on the actual ESPN. So they have ascended to new levels. Yes. And, you know, I can watch cornholing and actually understand what's going on. You know, they're trying to get the beanbags in the hole instead of pinball where I don't know what the fuck's going on. Yeah, I know. Okay. It will never work in TV. Okay. Well, I said this earlier. George Gomez was on Loser Kid again. Yep. Give an interview. I advise everyone listen just because he's one of the few guys that will actually say stuff. you know interesting stuff um yeah so the most interesting thing to me is that like spike three is going to be in the next game and will it have fuses that's the one thing i want to know the next game will have a slightly different backbox yep to accommodate their new sound system speaker system and then the game after that so so if we're going by you know bruce knows everything So Star Wars will have the new backbox with the improved sound system. And then the game after that, which I guess Pokemon everyone's saying, that will have some cabinet differences. So they're kind of doing it in phases. Which if you remember, it's the way they did. They've done everything. Like before Spike came out, they changed the display panel. Remember, it used to be wood and they made it. They changed it so it's metal, so it tilts because they were getting ready for the eventual LCD. Yep, and then they changed the backbox. The backbox made metal. This was all to get ready for the new system. So they've been doing that with Spike 3 with the quieter power supply, the new menu, the new service menu that they have now. Basically, these are all Spike 3 enhancements. So check out that interview. I said a bunch of other stuff but just check out the interview I have another note here predators are being built well what's the current you know more about financial stuff than me what's the current tariff situation in Europe it is 15% so it's 15% done they already got it all locked down okay so you're going to be paying and I think for the predators you got to pay the 15% and a $500 shipping fee on top of the actual shipping to you from the American distributor, I believe. Yes. To get your Predator. So think about $2,500 more to get Predator'd. Yes. Do you think these will sell well? No. Yeah. There's no Arnold. There's no Arnold. Everything flashes in the game. Oh, God. Okay. I'm just saying, it's just not a... It looks like... Everyone said it's Whirlwind. Yeah, it's just not there. But Whirlwind's good. I like Whirlwind. Whirlwind's good, but I can get a Whirlwind for $7,500 from what the fuck it is. And, you know, not that. That's coming out soon. You watch. What the fuck it is. What the fuck it is. But, yeah, so I don't see them selling more than $250. And that will be mostly European sales. Okay. Unless you get the guy that, money is no limit. Okay, what if the next game they build is Beavis and Butthead, and you have to pay $13,000 for your Beavis and Butthead from this company? I've said this before. If it doesn't have Mike Judge in it, it's a no-go. And I don't mean just using clips. You had to get Mike Judge to do new clips. Custom speech. Custom speech. Custom speech. All seasons. All video. I'd have to do it. I know. I have to. Yeah, it's that. And then you'll be complaining about it the whole time. It's my dream theme, and yeah, I would be complaining the whole time, I'm sure. Yes, you would. Yes. In other news, Spooky is looking for a programmer. But you got to move there and become the cult. You got to move to Baton, Wisconsin. You got to go to the cult. It's the cult. I wonder what determines if people have to move or not. I don't know why you have to move if you're a programmer. Yeah, and even Stern hasn't been consistent with this. No, no, no. Most companies aren't these days. Although it was things I was thinking of was before COVID. But, I mean, like Timmy, you know, our very own Timmy, our former third host. Yep. He had to move. Like, it wasn't up. Like, you have to move to Chicago. Yep. Raymond had to move. Raymond Davidson had to move. But then other programmers they've had haven't had to move. Or testers. Or testers. Or their main sound guy, Jerry Thompson, who does them all. he lives in like seattle or whatever so i know it's a little inconsistent about like who has to move who i don't know but spooky on the other hand they seem to want everyone to be in benton wisconsin we want you to become our cult member drink the kool-aid drink the kool-aid i mean i believe there's still the second biggest employer in benton wisconsin next to the school wow yeah and i guarantee you property probably is not expensive there no can you insert probably buy a house very cheaply at Benton, Wisconsin. Ron, can you insert the deliverance music right now? Oh, God. That pinball looked pretty in your mouth. Yeah. Yeah. Oh, God. Well, they did do Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Yeah, exactly. This is my brother, Daryl. This is my other brother, Daryl. We're going for the 80s all week. Okay. Oh, man. Okay. Yeah, I don't understand why a programmer has to be at a location all the time. I can see if you flew in when your game was getting ready to come on and you had to be crunch time. But I understand a company site saying, hey, it's going to cost too much money. But why do other people get to do it? And you, you know, I don't know. apples for apples oranges for oranges should be all around uh they're in the 400s now so they're they're halfway there past uh past the halfway point for evil dead it's the next one's your number uh 800 something how you doing yeah i'll be like december it'll be a snowstorm when i get mine oh well oh well okay so let's see i think that's all i have for news then i have pinberg No, no, I have a breaking news story. Oh, you have a breaking news story? Okay. What do you got? Fall Brawl is coming. Okay. Oh, is this another RPC thing you're advertising? RPC next tournament. Okay, what is the RPC, Bruce? That's the Rochester Pinball Collective. Where is it located, Ron? It's at 349 West Commercial Street, East Rochester, New York. Suite 2965. There you go. There you go. There you go. Yeah, that's a ticket. Where is this fall brawl taking place? And don't say the fall. Yeah, it's fall. But it is in the fall. November 21st, 22nd, and 23rd. Oh. The week before Thanksgiving. Okay. Come one, come all. Limited spots. We're going to limit it this year. Oh, you're going to limit it this year. So what kind of format is this, Bruce? It is in discussions right now. We're not selling tickets yet, but Zach is – it's going to be almost like last year's format for Fall Brawl where we had a pump and dump for one side and a match – Oh, it was that one. Yes. Okay, yeah. And a mega match play for the other one. And there will be a Sunday tournament. Okay. Excuse me. Yeah, so – and it will be cheaper than Stomp. It will be cheaper than Stomp. Yeah, because it's a pump and dump. It gets you three days of access to the beautiful Rochester Pinball Collective with new games coming soon. I'm trying to figure out when the past times tournament is. 14th, 15th, and 16th. It's the weekend before? Yep. And weekend after. We're at a weekend after. They're at a weekend before. But we had to do it that. Okay. Is it that weekend or Black Friday weekend? So wait a minute. So that means – because I went to both of those last year, so I went two weeks – Yes, you did. I don't know about this time. Yeah, you just have to pass on that. I'm just sick of driving. You just have to pass – no, Ron, I got the perfect thing. You go to past times and you hang out and stay with us at me and Zach's house. Yeah, for a whole week. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I don't work from home, Bruce, so. You can. I'll give you permission this time. You'll give me permission. Yes, I'll get you a doctor's note. A doctor's note. okay my herpes is contagious i can't herpes is not is flaring up his herpes is flaring up and his gonorrhea is out of wild out of control god and luckily got that uh new new money from the lawyers so you know you can you can treat finally that herpes and that gonorrhea oh you won the lawsuit well we're we're we're getting compensations compensation for yes okay yes for final round stealing our ball bag our ball bag mm-hmm I hate when it happens I hate when my ball bag gets stolen I forgot to say hi Marty Marty was back a couple episodes yes we love Marty yes we love Marty how we doing Marty that's right mate fuck you fuck you mates uh okay Pinberg Pinberg so Pinberg happened again it did it did uh fun was had by all yes especially the first day the second day for me was not very good everyone i knew crashed and burned on the second day yeah i just yeah i just it wasn't happening at least you did better than some guy named zach oh yeah well yeah our sack ended up in b i know i think he had a better record than me overall though at the end he could of i think he did but my record sucked i was almost last in a at one point but guess what you're still higher than him well i'm still in a yeah exactly yes i had a good first day but not really good enough i was in the middle of a where i would have had to have like won 10 plus games every round the second day which just wasn't going to happen anyway but then i just like crash and burn. Seeing these two comment about it was fucking awesome when I'm at work. Uh-huh. It was. So I had a little thing. Rumors heard. Rumors heard while I was there. Rumors heard. Rumors at Pinbird. Rumors heard. That's it. Yeah, rumor has it that... Well, I heard the Star Wars one. Yep. Rumors heard. And this person was telling me, like, there's going to be Death Star on the play field and it's actually going to work or whatever. Wait a second, doesn't the better Star Wars game, the greatest game of all time have a Star Wars on it? It's got a Death Star. A Death Star on it? Yeah, it's got a Star Wars on it, too. And does it work? On the premium, yes. Okay, does it work? On the pro, it doesn't do anything. And does it work? Does it work? Yeah, it splits apart. Okay, does the Death Star split apart like a big clam? A big clam. Does it? You don't like the way it works, is what you're saying. Yes, it's pretty shitty. Okay. The other Steph Star was way better in Data East. Well, it just opened. The door on it opened. That was it. But that was your shot. That was you taking the shot. Physical fun. The other rumor I heard at Pinberg, which I've heard, the next, what's it called? What's Metallica called? Remaster. Remaster. The next remaster is going to be Walking Dead. Yes. That what I heard I heard that from multiple people at Pinburgh I heard that too Yes Yeah the rumors are all the same It like there no variety It like what the next spooky game What is everyone saying? Beetlejuice. Like, I haven't heard any other title. It would be good if it was like, what's the new show that's on Netflix season two for the Addams Family? The Girl. Wednesday. Wednesday. It would be great if it was Wednesday. Like, get to fit there and have everyone thrown off. It'd be awesome. It won't happen. No, no. But it'd be kind of cool if they could throw him off that. Did I mention that? Spooky is, they told the distributors that they could start lists to take, you know, and interesting people for the, interested people for the new game. Because they obviously think it's going to be a big deal. I mean, I don't know. How popular is Beetlejuice compared to, say, Evil Dead? uh i think the beetlejuice original movie people loved uh the second one sucked i didn't like it at all i was like i apologize for bruce moving all over the place and making noise because i was hitting my head against a fucking speaker because speaker what are you doing microphone I was grabbing the microphone. Oh, okay. But yes, yeah, it's spooky. Yeah? Yeah. I can't wait for my Evil Dead. Although I have to say, to be fair, and Bruce will probably like this, so I've been in the Evil Dead owner's thread on Pitside. Yay. because honestly the owner's threads are some of the most handy things to be on in Pinside. You're going to get a handy from this thing. But yeah, some of the stuff that goes wrong. It's fucking scary. It's scary how people are just like, oh, it's fine. It's fine. It's good. Oh, it's fine. I guess they had it. It completely blew apart. Well, no. Things like they didn't have coin boxes for a while. Yeah, it's fine. But then when they started doing the coin boxes again, the test switches are hitting them. Like when you go to close the coin door. Yes. It's fine. We're good. Oh, no problem. I just moved it up one screw. Or I just drilled a new hole. Or I just bent the shit out of it so it won't hit it. Or I just took my coin box out. I don't need it. It's a home game. Yes. I mean, can you imagine if Sturgeon did any of that? Oh, God. You'd be hearing fucking. Oh, my God. It would just be brutal. They are definitely given more of a pass than most manufacturers I've seen. Pass? Jesus Christ. Some of the shit they fucking do. Oh, my God. But that being said, I can't wait for my Evil Dead. I can't wait. Yeah, you want to hear me just have all kinds of issues with it. You know, I got this thing. I found 27 issues. The normal Stern only has three or more. I'll tell you what, Bruce. If it's that bad, I'll make it a segment on our show. It'll be like, what broken evil dead this week? This week. There you go. Just to make you happy. Yeah, we got to get the sound clips from it and everything like that. Like the girl, ah, you know, squeaking or anything like that when Ron tells us the bad shit that's broken. My hand fell off. Groovy. Groovy. Well, I noticed they already have, because one of the criticisms of the game when it first came out, one of the few ones, was the hand. Like, why isn't the hand giving you the finger? like in the movie and they're like well we can't really you know go that far they just haven't fucking absented on the play field a guy's just giving you a finger so of course there's a mod there's an upgrade but the mod is by the guy who makes the actual hand for the production game yes fat galley creations they're making the middle finger one and you look at it it's like well yeah i gotta get that look at it i mean yeah so yeah i'm gonna have to get one of those it's gotta be Fuck you. Fuck you. Exactly. I just cannot wait. I cannot wait. Oh, you can't wait? I want to be there when you open it up and you start digging into it. I really do. Let's talk about the biggest spooky owner I know, and that's our Zach. We should just call him Spooky Zach because he has four of them. He's got Looney Tunes. Yep. He just got. his first new box game he ever got was Alice Cooper. He's got Rick and Morty and he's got Scooby, which he is trying to sell, which is not going well. Of course not. Because no one wants to buy that. Yeah. That did not sell as good as some of the other ones. And a great theme. That was like the fucking perfect theme for them. Yeah, the issue with that one was the play feel. That was definitely the fucking play feel. Honestly, here's the thing about Spooky. For the most part, I like their approach. to the game. I like their approach. Like if you're going to make a Scooby-Doo game. Yes. And you had a meeting, like, what are you going to do? Well, they should solve mysteries. Yes, perfect. No, I don't mind that part. And you should have all the classic villains, monsters, that should be in the game. Yes, what they need to do is this. Okay, we got seven shots. Okay, time out. Minus one. What do you mean minus one? Take a fucking shot away. Make your shots bigger. And guess what? People are going to enjoy your game. Well, yeah. It's the truth. Looney Tunes has wider shots. I still can't see the hit up percentage. At least it shoots okay. It doesn't shoot great, but it's okay. Looney Tunes. So I played a ton of Looney Tunes, which I never got to play where I could actually hear it. Yeah. Like really hear it. And again, I think the approach is perfect. they took they take the well they call them episodes which that kind of irks me they're not episodes episodes are something on a tv show they are they are shorts yes they are short subject presentations they are cartoon shorts but if you put shorts on the play field no one would like what shorts i don't get no one knows what that means yeah but these were all originally theatrical shorts shown before the movie. Yep. You know. But they chose so they have them as episodes and they're all the ones you remember. You know, What's Opera, Doc? Spirit of Magic Helmet. Spirit of Magic Helmet. Helmet. Yeah, they got the opera singer who fucks with bugs so he gets revenge on them. They got baseball bugs. They got Bugs vs. the Turtle. They got Daffy Duck as Robin Hood. One of my favorites. see rich unworthy travel traveler i shall rob him of his gold and give it to some poor unworthy slob that'll prove i'm robin hood yes i just love that fucking lie but he didn't do the best one ever oh what's the best one ever the gremlin oh the gremlin and one of the later modes i didn't get to says duck amok which is one of my favorites of all time that's where daffy gets fucked with with the animators fucking with daffy but spoilers it turns out to be bugs bunny at the end of course But the guy that they got do the call outs, just nice. I mean, no one's going to be perfect. No one's Mel Blanc. But at no point did I sit there and say, like, oh, that's not Bugs Bunny. That's not Daffy Duck. Like, no, no, I could tell who that's supposed to be, 100%. But it just doesn't. I had issues with that you hit the right ramp, and then it comes around to the upper left flipper, which I'm short enough where I can't even see it half the time, And I keep forgetting to flip over and over and over. Yep. And it had what I call like the little spooky isms. Like Zach wanted to change the power of the left kick out. So he goes into menu, changes it. We play a game. It seems to be exactly the same. It goes back in. It goes in the menu. It didn't change it. Nope. So he had to try it again. Still didn't change it. So we went in. He changed that. Then changed another setting that went back to it. And then it kept. I know. So he had to play with it a bit. Oh. And the fact that, I think a lot of it is the fact that where Stern has like the same system code that runs on everything. They change their every fucking day. They change every game. Like when you go into the service menu, it is customized for the game, which I do appreciate that. So when you're in the Looney Tunes service menu, it's got all the Looney Tunes fonts, and it does all the cartoon sounds as you go through. Yes. Which I think is pretty cool, but you open yourself up to more pain when everything is different like that. Pain. We're doing all these 80s movies. Pain. What's your prediction on this fight? Prediction? Pain. Thank you. Thank you, Mr. T. Also, Thunderlips, the ultimate male. Yes. Yeah. Hulk Hogan in his movie debut. Yes. With a great line. Why are they carrying him when he's coming down the ring? They're not carrying him. He's like, oh. Wait, brother, you're going down, Rocky, dude. Well, no, he didn't. He didn't actually say that. But, yeah, I liked what I saw on Looney Tunes. Would you buy one? No. Of course not. I didn't think it played as well as Evil Dead. No. And that's always my, like, the play field's the first thing. Yes. I thought the orbits were kind of tight. It was tough for me to hit on Looney Tunes. Yeah. but I liked the rule set. You just hit shots start an episode and some of the episodes are awesome like the baseball bugs. You're facing the Gas House Gorillas and you're down like 20 to 3 and all the shots light up in orange except one roving shot in blue which is the out. So you don't want to make an out. So if you get into the groove or you're just like looping a shot over and over, that's fine until the blue shot moves over there like oh shit out yep i thought that was awesome i know i agree they actually had some ingenuity yes but the only yeah but they had tweety in there so you know that i fucking hate tweety i hate tweety oh god i hate tweety i hate granny oh i hate granny too but i love witch hazel which is they're both june foray so yeah i don't hate you foray i like with chasel but i hate granny i hate tweety i want tweety to get eaten yes sylvester needs to eat them yes exactly suffering fuck attack yeah whatever you little shit yeah yeah you did you piece of shit i'm the one rooting for the coyote to get the roadrunner oh fuck yeah acme is my favorite all my shit As a kid, that was one of my – what was it called? The Bugs Bunny Roadrunner movie. Oh, yeah. And it was literally just – they filmed some – they made some new stuff, like as intros, and then the rest of it is just showing old episodes. Oh, yeah. But the last 20 minutes is just classic Roadrunner coyote. Yep. Oh, I love that. It was fucking classic. It's so good. Yes. Okay, enough gushing about Looney Tunes. The cartoon, not the game. That game's fine. I think things like Scooby-Doo, it's that whole upper plate field and everything. Oh, the upper plate field sucks. It just doesn't. And the shots are too tight. It's just the shots. Shots are not fun. They could. And they still have ones available. You had a wide body. You have more real estate, and you had to add more shots, you dumb fuckers. Minus one every fucking time. Minus one. Just minus one. hey i got this great game it's got nine shots okay take away one but it won't don't just take it away it'll be better trust me you know what Steve Ritchie once said with the game no fear he wish he had time to do one more whitewood because he would have removed a shot he thought there's too many shots it's a little too tight even that game is a little too tight point better had a lot of good quotes though it did had a great quotes robbie gordon i just remember that yes nascar racing with robbie i love all the intros shoot the two for more time at bigger points i do kind of miss that game yeah yeah if you hit the loop enough times you just start screaming i love it i do miss that game it was so cheap back then yes everyone had one i think they had like nine of them at papa at one point i know ridiculous uh all right so for the next thing Well, I was at Zax because I was getting ready to go to Buffalo to the Beast. Shuffle off. Yes. Shuffle off the Buffalo. And while I was there, I got to play for the first time Harry Potter. Yep. And I got to play Mordune. Mordune. And they came out with a freaking code update on like, what was it, Friday? Friday night. I think it was Friday night. And it was on the game Saturday when I played it, the new code. um so you let me ask you first you got to play him yep because i know you were there and you played him yep so what are your impressions we'll go we'll go left to right because they am right next to each other they have yes they did harry potter is on the left yep what did you harry potter i thought shot really well okay that moving house whatever the thing is it's pretty fucking awesome for a gimmick that is a fucking cool it's a staircase but yes yeah whatever it is it looks like a house no that's wizard of oz it looks like the wizard of oz house a little bit okay uh i think it shot really well it plays long of course another jersey jack special uh i think i i think the quotes and the sounds are really good i think they have a lot of potential to do more i don't know what the code version is up to but it's got to be you know pretty good you know so i think it i liked it did i love it no i didn't love it oh no purchase in your your no no i'm not the i'm not this was a ce by the way yes i'm not the harry potter fan yeah but but cat is yes but she didn't play it okay she didn't come out you probably made sure she didn't come out like i wanted to play it i I told her to come out. I actually did tell her to come out. All right. It's an hour and a half drive each way, so three hours to play one game and then see your poor, pitiful husband sitting there going, not fun. All right. Dune. Dune. First time I played Dune, too. Uh-huh. Eh. Eh. Eh? Eh. Okay. I did play the early code. I didn't play the later code. so i was just like the shots were okay it just didn't wow me like i love the snake the the toy is fucking awesome oh the worm yes yes the worm burp the worm you're ready to go burp the worm is that the name of the word burp yes okay it's pretty cool other than that Okay. Some of the shots were a little weird, like the upper left flipper by the worm. Yeah. I didn't like that shot. I didn't like the shot. I didn't like it at all. I didn't like it at all. Yeah, I really didn't. But other than that, you know, I think it's now in beta. We're no longer in alpha. We're now in beta. Yeah, I think we can both agree. Dune is released way too soon. Yeah, I think. way too soon they should have never physically and code wise it's no it should not have been released they should have should have waited until they had labyrinths they could have kept making those there was no reason unless it was a licensing thing where they had to yeah i doubt it you want to get a license licensing expert yeah i think you could just say guess what guys you know i don't think you can just say guess what guys you pay more money and you you chicago gaming couldn't do that they had to show Pulp Fiction long before it was ready I know and that look out you know yeah that hurt it yeah it did so uh but what did you think all right so Potter uh yes it shoots very good it's definitely more uh Elton John than yes then Avatar yes totally and Avatar I played also that day, and it was such a drag. But it has so much shit in the back. You don't know what the hell's going on half the time. Exactly. I hit the ball back there, and I'd lose it. Like, where's the ball? Where's the ball? I started at least one multiball where I just, no clue, it just started. Yeah. Boom, I started. You know how we said Elton John was like the least JJP, JJP? Yep. This is the most JJP, JJP. Everything. Yeah. You touched a flipper and plunged the ball. You got a multiball. Every multiball has to be called as a multiball. A multiball, blah, blah, blah, multiball, blah, blah, blah, multiball. They have tons of assets. They've got all these movie clips. I still get a kick out of the person on the broom that just keeps like, it's on a spring and it keeps moving. Yeah, I don't know what any of those terms are. That's the other thing. You've got so much quidditch or whatever. I fucking have no idea what any of that means. I have a long quidditch. Yes, I do. Thank you. Yes, okay. but and then i was in one of those modes where every shot is lit yeah it's like why and some of the the light shows had the full i call them skittles effect yeah yeah yeah and elton john which is flashy as fuck it just never i never get i know it never does that like i never get that impression when i'm playing it like i'm it's still why ron the rainbow i don't know why because i told him i'm steve ritchie and i don't have rainbow shit my game yeah this isn't fucking skittles yes it's a skittle but yeah that that was my issue it's like oh this again we went back to gnr and yeah it was just i was like uh it shoots really well though but it shoots really good but i would you know what i'd like to see i'd like to see the cheapest version which doesn't have all the LEDs. Maybe it would be a little better with the Skittles. So it has the topper. Yeah. Let's just say underwhelming. Oh, way underwhelming. You know what it felt like? The Rick and Morty topper. Let's put it this way. The last two toppers from Jersey Jack were... Have sucked. No, no, no, wrong. Avatar, which was killer. That was a great topper. It was like a better version of the Mandalorian one. and before that was the elton john top yeah i like the elton which lights up the whole freaking yeah ceiling yeah then you got this thing which almost looks like you know the pop-up books you know you open them in a thing but that's what it looks like to me i it looks like a huge pop-up book yeah with lights on it um yeah after you know everything else in the game being like over the top that was kind of like oh yeah that wasn't that wasn't the cherry on top no or if it was the cherry was just like the pit from the cherry like the rest of it got eaten and just just the pit left yay uh uh okay so dune dune now i had played dune yes you had uh and then you played the older and newer this dune the fork was broken yes it was it would not come up which made it it's it handled it well with the software i was surprised it did handle it but you didn't get the full effect of how it's supposed to work but um i thought it's a little floatier than i'd like and maybe a little more power yeah um but i i like shooting that thing i said i said that at allentown same here i like the art package i like the i the light show especially because they got the expression light lights yep and you get a little screen you get into like desert power whatever the fuck it is where everything just goes brown and the lights kind of they reflect off all the wire forms it looks looks cool as hell um i like the little screen under you know the big dream the little screen yeah the worm is is awesome yeah i do i actually didn't like the upper left flipper the upper left i like the upper left flipper is fine It's got two shots. It's got the one, the upper one, and then the upper ramp. I know, and I didn't like either one. I was just like, ugh. It's got different ball paths. It's got the up-down ramps. It's got some diverters. It's totally different. I like that. I just like the way it's shot, and I liked – I got to the wizard mode, the new one, the new mini wizard mode, whatever the hell it's called. What is it? The Battle of something. Arceus or whatever. Oh, yeah. Oh, what is it? Acheris, dude. No, what is it called? Shit. People are probably yelling at it. Like, how do you not know this? You fucker. I've only seen the movies a couple of times. Calm down. I've only seen them once each, yeah. Yeah, Dune, Desert Planets. But whatever. Yeah, it has that. And I bombed it that hard, by the way. Just like you did everything else, right? Oh. Oh. Oh, bite me. So, yeah. I mean, I like it to the point. If I was more into Dune. You would be buying it. There was a possibility I could buy it. Yeah, I think so too. I would actually. I honestly. As I said, I want to bring Kathy out there like another two weeks. Hopefully there's another code version. And then let her play both. We'll just have a nice weekend out there. We'll go to Ted's for some hot dogs. But keep it up, Barrels of Fun. And don't release the games in super alpha mode. No. Next time. Wait. Wait. Wait, please. Make sure they're all for their welcome. I think it would have been more powerful if they actually waited. If they released what was there now. Not even that. Or for Expo. It would have blown the people away. Oh, shit. Yeah. If they came in Expo and you didn't know it was Dune yet. Yeah. Which I think this one most people knew it was Dune. Or that was River. I know, but yeah. If they showed up with that, people sold a fucking worm. Oh, yeah. And it worked and it had good code. They'd shit themselves. They'd be like, they'd be taking orders. Take my money. Take my money. Oh, 100%. Oh, fuck yeah. It would have just been another... Not that long. I mean, when is... It was May? Yeah, it would be former. So it would have been another six months? Yeah, five months it would have been. Unless they just weren't selling enough labyrinths and they need to keep the line going. I don't know. But it just seems to me... Yeah, it seemed like it was... Yeah, you're right. If they unveiled that at Expo, it would just... Oh, it would have been a fucking home run. Oh my God, yes. Because then they would have been done with all the labyrinths. They would have maybe built some dunes up, and then you're rocking and rolling. But they're a young company, so hopefully they'll learn. Yes. But then again, Stern will still release stuff that's like totally. Dog shit. Alpha. Better come to software. Yeah. Yeah. I agree. Yeah. Unless, except Elwynn Games. Yeah. It's like, I think the Elwynn key is that his games are not 1.0 either. No, but he gets the time. They're not even near done either, but he would get the main multiball and enough where it feels like you played a complete game. Or maybe it is he has better organizational skills than the other – I'm being honest. But you play some of the other games, and they're just so obviously not close to done. Clunky and not fun. I know – and Elwood's even said how the games aren't necessarily released. They're never going to be released 1.0. He actually would like to go in a direction, have the games playable, and then just put it out there and see what people do and go from there. Like, well, what's working, what isn't, and that'll determine where we go. And that way I actually like – and I think George Gomez brought this up in the interview, how the games are never going to be released with 1.0. No. And I actually agree. If they're playable, not like some of the stuff I've seen, but if they're basically playable, especially with your insider connected, You can see what people are doing. You can figure out, you know, which way you want to go with it. You're going to get the ultimate feedback. Yeah. But it's still. And as much as we bitch in the pinball community, it's not like Stern has not finished a game. No, well. Since Wheel of Fortune, maybe. No, not true. Okay, what after Wheel of Fortune. Do you think John Wick is going to be finished? They're still doing it. Do you think it's getting it finished? Sure. Okay. I don't. I don't. You're wrong. Well. That'll get finished and so will X-Men. Okay, you keep on thinking that. Unless they go under. No, I'm not even saying that. I think if they get another good hit game, it will be, oh, we'll finish it in about a year or two. Yeah, but they finish every game. Yeah. If it ain't Wheel of Fortune. Yeah. Do you consider X-Men, the original one, finished even though they put out that new code? No, it's still dog shit. It really is. Say what you really feel, Bruce. Yeah, I'm being honest. I'm being honest. It fucking sucks. Guess what? It's not great. Why do you think you can get a Pro for so cheap now and all these LEs so cheap? Because the code sucked. All right, all right. Let's get more positive here. I'm going to have a positive thing about American. No, no, no. American pinball. Okay, what's that? Okay so I think we talked about this at InDisc they did some kind of modification to I think it was Galactic Tank Force which made it so much like the flippers were so much better They're on steroids. They obviously have done that to the games at Pocketeer, because they got all the American games. Yes, they do. I played Barry O, and I went from playing this at a show where I could never make the ramp, till I felt like I was fucking playing Robocop, like Daddy East flippers on this thing. I'm looping the fucking main ramp seven, eight times in a row. Boom, boom, boom. I'm like, where was this? Where were these flippers? I know. If those flippers were out before, maybe they would have sold some of the names. God damn it. And you know who was there? The man himself, baby. The American dream. That's right, baby. The American dream of American pinball. They fixed with their own old glory, baby. He was playing in the tournament, too. He was fighting the bad guys. That's right, baby. But, yeah. Yeah. I just figured Galactic Tank Force was the same way. Like, wow, these shots are easy now. Amazing. Even the lock was working right. Yes, it was. I'm glad to see some people hugged you this weekend. Ah, okay. He doesn't like to bring that up, but they did. They didn't hug me because of my play. No, they hugged you because of you. We haven't even got into, like, who won anything. Because people hate tournaments, right? No, they do. So I'll say Pinberg. The winner was Jason Zoller. B Division was Matt Rowbottom. C Division, Phil Kreidelbaugh. And the whipped champion was Cat Lake. Let's see. And then for the beast, we have Jason Zoller. Congratulations. He is the best player. Yes. on the planet he is and we got to see the best game of stars ever yeah holy fuck yes my stars yes your stars that is the highest score i've ever seen on my stars yes and who did it bruce i've uh who was it uh i can't remember his name was i can't remember zach mccarthy yeah that's right zach mccarthy had like 900k yeah eight it was actually 838 i pulled yeah and he got the special. Once. Once. But the rest of it was if it's on the right flipper, he would shat the left and hit the spinner. Yep. And then he saved everything. Oh my god. It was like a magnet. It was absurd. The amount of saves that occurred is unbelievable. And you know what? That was the most exciting, greatest part of the stream by far. Yes. Which shows Stars needs to be in every fucking tournament. Every tournament. Come on. Stars is, this is why it is the official game of the Slamtail Podcast. Oh, the Slamtail Podcast. Yes. So, yes, Jason Zoller won. Yeah, at 830. Well, the finals. Holy fuck. I felt like my machine got abused. Usually it's doing the abusing. This time I was going, oh, my God. What the hell did I just get? I want to congratulate Raymond Davidson. He was the only actual adult in the final four. The rest were kids. It was Jason Zoller, Zach McCarthy, and Carter Castleman, and we're all kids. So congratulations, Raymond. He's holding it down for his old people. He got a third, so good for him. I actually made money. Uh-huh. Because I made B. You were in B. Classics. Look at this. Classics B. Oh, yeah. And I came second place, baby. Let's see. Classics A. the winner was it was Paul Engler I think so then I'm trying to click on all these links it was easier on the other one it had all the winners just on the same page so yeah B was won by let's see I'm looking at now David Morris Bruce Nightingale in second you did better than me Bruce yay you made B I was ineligible for B yes yeah i was the funny thing is out of the eight people i had the lowest i had the highest ifpa ranking i was like 2200 and everyone's like 400 500 600 i'm like like son of a bitch the the setup they had was interesting in that they had tables like book ending the rosa game so you could sit at a table yeah watch the game right next to you it was crazy i know and watching some of these players i realized like yeah tried it holy fuck some people just acted like it was some the saves people were making on some of these games i'm like i am so not no no no oh god just no no um you you had like their their mentality is if it tilts if it tilts oh well but they had all the best players like from pinberg were there yeah and i'm trying to Compete against that. No. Stern Evento. It's a Stern Pro Circuit now. I just couldn't do it. I couldn't do it. I got myself in position for the final three. What is it? No. Was it nine to one? Ten to one? Three hours. For a final three hours of qualifying. Yeah, ten to one. I needed to blow up a game. And I decided to go down on stars. Like, that was going to be my game. I know. I calculated it later, and I would have needed over 267, which was going to be hard. Yeah. My stars is not easy. So I walked in, and I was in 48th position. I was like, fuck. First game I played, I played Beatles slash Sea Witch. Yeah, Beatles and Sea Witch mode. Yeah, and I got 1.7 million. So I was like, oh, wow, I'm up to 38. I'm trying every other game, trying to get something. Like I played stars. I played super orbit, all the games I didn't have a good games on and I got shit. And I slowly bled down the 44th, but then it went to 43rd because one of the people couldn't go in. Cause they were in a, they were restricted to a, so, and that's how I got in. And then I just worked my way through. I got a first in the top, you know, in the, in the first round I got first. And then I, the guy played better than me in the second round he played congratulations bruce yeah i don't get to say that off i get to play a game and win and i figured you were doing pretty good because i wasn't hearing too much swearing or anger from you it's like he's pretty quiet so he must not be i was working on so many games in between it was not even funny it was a lot of repairs a lot of repairs including the alien star i brought it was that yours yeah and yeah and And the top bumper board blew up halfway through Saturday. And they still played it for Sunday. That was me. What do you mean? You blew it up? I didn't blow it up. I noticed it wasn't working. I was the one who brought it up. Because as soon as I got on the game, it's like, uh. It's not doing shit. It's not doing anything. Yeah. So I got to order that part. But I haven't even set it up yet because I set up stars. And I set up, I'm almost done with AFM. AFM is almost done with the protector. all the ramps are in now we just gotta hook up the uh the mod for uh okay so that was the beast congrats to everyone and stuff and um did i forget something oh yeah hold on that the women's playoffs we had um the winner was um christina capra congratulations yep and one of the games in the finals was fireball classic yes yes and they picked it because they had to go one game and then they had to go to the open division or pussies like the women know what where it's at by having fireball classic in the lord of the rings oh okay i take that back in there i take it back oh wait okay that's good that's good okay yeah and even uh memory lane i'd say the game setups the tilt were a lot way looser than they were yeah i i no one was complaining about tight tilts for the most part um the only thing is one person got mad because literally one game stopped tilting. It stopped registering tilt. And we had to take it apart because Jeff said, guess what? It's broken. It's like a flipper was broken. I literally was banging the tilt bob against the side and it wasn't tilting. The only thing they also had in the classics area, they had pin steps on everything in the back. Everything was like nine degree incline. It was like insane. Except for my stars. My stars wasn't. I was inclined pretty good. No, it's normal. That's normal incline. Really? It seemed faster than usual. Nope. Normal incline. Okay. Normal incline. They had pin steps on, what's it called? Alien Star. But they put the wrong legs on the wrong way. And, you know, they had all the leg levelers fucked up. And I just grabbed a pin step thing and threw it underneath there and got it to it. When I got there, it was at 4.5 degrees. I was like, if things float in your fucking shit, what's that? Oh, my God. When I left it, I was at 6'7". So I did some work to it. So that was the Beast. Congrats to the winners. Yes. Good time had by all. Good job, Mr. Teolis. It's the top Canadian tournament in the U.S. In the United States. Yes. There you go. So I was watching some of the finals, and somebody really irked me. I don't know. Just by saying, they might have insulted Lethal Weapon 3 or something. And that's just unacceptable. How many tournaments have Rocky and Bullwinkle in it? Rocky, save me. Again. Hi, Mr. Do-It-All. Mr. Know-it-all. That is better call-outs than modern games. It does. Oh, man. Okay. Well, let's do repairs and we'll end with the ball back. Okay, okay. Since you were doing repairs there. I assume you have more. Well, over the weekend, we had a locked-on transistor on the slingshot for Demoman. Oh, no. Tip 102 fixed that easily. Demo man. You've got to make sure that works at all times. Yes, we'd have to. And then it's back up and running. Okay. Excuse me. Sorry. So AFM is almost done with its restore. I put all three new ramps in it. New plastic set. New plastic play field protector. Just got to hook up the Bill Mod. Bill Mong. Bill Ung. Bill Ong saucer kit? Yes, the saucer kit. I hooked that back up, and then we'll see if all the switches work, and then we'll see how it plays. It could be faster than ever. Bill Ong, one of the first really good mods that ever existed. I see him at INDISC every year. He's on the repair crew. Yep. What else we got for repairs? I did a ton at the Beast. The Beast was a little nutty. uh flipper stock flipper a lot of blown fuses sometimes uh with misadjusted eos switches so if you're gonna bring a game make sure the eos switches are at least new because what was happening on uh bobby or uh the upper field yeah blow the fuse because the eos switch was weak and it kept on bending out and getting out of it blew the fuse because the game was shit Well, it is shit. That was the only game that felt a little unfair because they disabled the pop thing. Yes. Yeah, between the flippers, which, okay, that's fine. But then they had, like, hair-trigger tilt on it. Yeah, and the drop targets were bricking. Well, yeah, but they, yeah. They always brick, but they were really bad. So basically what you had to do is just hit the drop targets, like, higher up, and hope it went in the saucer, and hope it didn't come near the outlands where you'd have to nudge and you'd end up tilting. Yes. You just always go back up top. Just get it back up top. But then next to it, you had the stupid Pabst can crusher. I saw people going airborne with that thing, and it wasn't tilting. I know. That was the one I had to fix. Ah, yes. Because the ring was – I had to actually Dremel the ring out and Dremel the actual tilt bob just to make it react. And once I did, you can fix it. You know. So, yes, nice super orbit there from Dave Souza. He brought a beautiful super orbit. Yeah, that thing pissed me off. That pissed a lot of people off. And, yeah, other than that, I think it was a good show. New building worked out well. Yeah, new building worked out well. Very nice. Congratulations to all. And congratulations to – I heard – another rumor I heard of Pinberg is it going to be their last year there at the movie theater? They're going to be somewhere more capacity or something. That's what I heard. I don't know if it's true. Don't shoot the messenger. But I heard that's another one of the rumors floating around. Rumor corner. No, don't say that. We'll get sued by Eclectic Gamers Podcast. Rumor corner. No, don't get us sued. We acknowledge that it was the eclectic gamers. So if you acknowledge who you're ripping it off from, that makes it okay? Yep. Okay. Yep. I don't think that's the way it works. We'll pay royalties of nothing. Oh, royalty, yes. We make nothing, so you get nothing. Nothing. But what's your repairs? I've been out busy playing in tournaments, so I haven't been playing my own games to break them. Wow. but stomp is coming up and we can break those it's a little less than no it's a little more than a month out and that's when i usually start so it's going to take me a month to get through everything ready for stop because i have a reputation to maintain yes and not one person has dropped out of stomp wow we still have a wait list of nine nine and we're at 40. let's see at least we'll have one difference from i'd like to have at least one game difference from the previous year and we do have foo fighters now that wasn't there before i think that's the only difference that that replaced a game that's at the rochester pinball collective WHO dunnit all right you ready for the ball bag i am ready for your ball bag at any time Okay. Trademarked by Slam Tilt. Trademarked by Slam Tilt. Yes, LLC. Yes. Ooh, okay, this one, the subject line is New Pinball Collective. Ooh. Let's see. G'day, Hosers. Wow. Hey, g'day. I don't think he's Australian. Thanks for all the great pinball content and trademarked email segment names. Let's see. Four of us from our local league recently started a collective. It's the Triangle Pinball Collective, located in the Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill part of North Carolina. There you go. Let's see. Nicknamed the Triangle. Oh, that makes sense. Inside of a local beer bar right next to the airport called Flight Deck. Okay. We currently have 21 games and can likely get to as many as 24. Things are going incredibly well. Imagine what happens when publicly available games are kept running well and kept clean. And we plan to keep expanding and making things better every day. Let's see their game list here. Let's see if Bruce approves. Avengers, the new one, or the Elwynn one. Bad Cats, Black Knight, Bram Stoker's Dracula, Preach from the Black Lagoon, Congo, Dune, 8-Ball Deluxe, Evil Dead, I approve. Game of Thrones Pro Ice Fever Iron Maiden Jurassic Park King Kong Spider-Man Vault Oh, he puts big asterisks next to these Stars Okay, that's good That's a very good thing Strikes and Spares, Swords of Fury Tron and Viking Okay, that's a good selection I like that It's a good change of eras. Yes. Of course, everything except Evil Dead, right, Bruce? I'm sure you hate that. Except for Evil Dead. Well, no. At least they didn't have Star Wars, so it's one up. I've taken a lot of advice from Bruce. Oh, no. Since the RPC located at 349 West Commercial Street, Suite 2965 East Rochester was started. So thank you for talking about the details as well as answering questions from STDers. Yes. But he has a few questions. I'm hoping you can answer. So these are for you, Bruce. Okie dokie. How do you spread your seed? No, that's not what it says. I'm sorry. It's very easy. I just start jerking it. How do you spread the word to get folks to come? We're doing the Yelp, Google, Apple, Pinball Maps, Facebook, social media thing, but wasn't sure if we're missing anything. No, that's about it. What you want to do also, if you can, is we haven't done it even at ours, but I did it at Silver Ball, was sponsor a baseball, like a Little League baseball team, and then have them come there, you know, for their end-of-year party or soccer, that kind of stuff, and get the kids involved. That's another way we did it at Silver Ball. Silver Ball worked out really well because once one team went and they heard that they had a good time in the schools. And then the kids came into the bar and started drinking, and it was like bad news bears. Yeah, they drink all they can. That's how you got to start them. Start them young. But it worked out really well. So that's the only thing. But that's how we do it at RPC. We just do the Facebook, Yelp, and all that other stuff. And we're doing hunky-dory. Okay. Another question. Do you rotate games based on time on the floor or only if one needs to come off the floor for repair? Repair. Okay. Yep. Latest one is AFM. AFM was actually at the Silver Ball Saloon, went right to the RPC, and literally this was the first time it went off the floor. So it's been on the floor almost four years. Wow. So it's getting the treatment. What's your play field cleaning schedule? It all varies, but we try to do it. Time, era dependent, clear code or not, for instance, when you see ball tracks, question mark? uh actually we have a date so every machine we write down we have a spreadsheet so every machine we have a you know you have the last date done and then we have it saved as a formula for 30 60 and 90 days it changes colors oh so uh when we know when we go look at the next list next time we're cleaning oh wait a sec there's 12 that are red they're 90 days you know oh let's go get to those first if they're yellow you know or if it's still green that's less than 30 days you know we'll just address it then but that's how we take care of our uh our cleaning okay so it's pretty smart actually how zach set that up and you know with the yeah it sounds like a zach thing it is a zach thing and uh so it works out really well and doing that for 80 plus games is very important. Thanks, y'all. Brian. Thank you, Brian. Good luck. Continued success with the TPC. Not the Players' Championship or TPC Sawgrass. It's the Triangle Triangle Pinball Collective. Everyone's opening collectives now. You got the Austin one. You got this one. Let's see. This one's from Cole. Cole's back. It's been a while. Hey there, Cheetum and Hal. Cole's back. Hi there, Cheetum and Hal. Brought to us in full DPX action. If you can't beat them, sue them. Do we still think they're not going to get him out by the end of the year? No way. August, we haven't seen shite. I had to catch up in the last few episodes, and they were awesome as usual. Ooh, nice. As for your lawsuit against Final Round, you should get all you can. Yes. Then again, what do you expect from a moose-knuckle Canadian and a guy who comes from a country founded by criminals? Wow. They knocked off so much of Slam Tilt in their last episode, you would think the show came from China. Yeah, I know. Finally got to play Kong, and I have to say Elwin did it again. Yes, he did. While I can see this game playing long, it shoots like pure butter. It does. There is mucho flow on this game. I just wonder how long Elwin can keep it up. All night long. All night. All night. All night long. All night. Oh, yeah. Hold on. Everyone you meet, you're going to be playing pinball in the streets all night long. I think I'm going to be playing my pinball on the ceiling. Woo! let's see uh any more lionel britchie yeah no even the games that people consider his weakest they are still better than most people's other games yes oh god when you first said predator was coming out i thought trudeau would come back and design a game with a ball lock like teenage mutant ninja turtles but it would be a plain white van with the blacked out windows and it would play ice cream truck music free candy wow thank god it was the movie instead which is a cinematic masterpiece yes unfortunately pinball brothers is doing it and after playing that piece of shit known as abba at california extreme i have no faith i played abba and queen and i was like okay it's pretty bad i didn't like queen but i did i didn't mind about all what is it with these shit companies getting good ips like predator aliens and blues brothers i am afraid to think of what else these ass hats have to fuck up wow wait there's more curls on a roll i also got to play harry potter's there were four machines at the show i have to say it shot great and it was packed with shit yes it was i have to say i think i like the way it played better than elt and john no no No, no, no, which was the best playing J.J.P. game to date. Yes, it is. Whatever J.J.P. did to fix the flippers and slings it out in John, they did the same in Harry Potter. I have to say I didn't even notice the dragon on the art. Yeah, I wouldn't have noticed on the side. I didn't notice it either. Honestly, I looked for it. I had to look for it. Like, oh, there he is. Or the art in general. Oh, I forgot to mention, at the Beast, after I didn't make classics, I still had like 12 entries to use. So I just played in Maine, and I would just play games I like. That's not a problem. And you know what game was in the Maine? The greatest? Well, the second greatest JJP game, Dialed In. And I played it. And what did you get? Where did you finish up in? Two fucking billion. For a while, I had the second high score on the game for the entire weekend. And who was 30th on that game? You. I know. I blew up Stargazer, too. It's like the only two games I can blow up in tournaments are Stargazer and Styled In. Which means I could beat Keith Elwin. You could. Because I would pick it, and either he would just quit before even playing it, or I could just run up a big score, and then he would quit. Big points. Yeah. Let's see. I thought it was fine, but I'm no Harry Potter head. I think that the art was approved for that. The people in charge at Warner Brothers were watching the SNL skit with Lindsay Lohan playing Hermione, where their eyes were crossed while waving their wands around while reciting the spell Erectus Maximus and approved it. Oh, God. I love our fucking fans. As for if JK's beliefs will affect sales, they won't. It won't be as much as people think. No. Just for reference, all I can say is I was paying attention to, because you had Harry Potter and Doom next to each other. So I was looking. And whenever I saw people over there, I looked to see which one are they playing. Are they playing both? Overwhelmingly, they were playing Harry Potter. Yeah. Like not even close. Yeah, I'd agree with that totally. Yeah. Let's see. Just for reference to people who don't know, California Extreme is held in the most progressive place and probably the most bluest state in the union. And the lines were at least six deep on all four machines. Out of the six deep, most were two or more people. I agree with Bruce that being a game is a very slippery slope as where will it stop there will always be something that offends someone for whatever reason and we will have no machines to play except zingy bingy I hope we play zingy bingy yes that is a masterpiece it shows the love between the man and the woman I can respect someone for their convictions because it is their right but don't play the game if you feel that strongly about it to facing someone's property because of their beliefs is just wrong and I was paying attention to people who spoke about it that were there at the beast saying you better not play Harry Potter thinking to myself and they didn't They didn't. Enough heavy crap. Bruce, I don't even recognize you when you pimp flipping out pinball like you have the last few episodes. Hey, don't forget to get that game at flipping out pinball because flipping out pinball takes care of us at the Rochester Pinball Collective. What happened? Did you get hit with a magic spell coming from Zach's wand while he was waving it around? If so, was he reciting the same spell as Warner Brothers execs that approved the art? Are you just trying to get a screaming deal at Potter for Cat? I'm so confused. No, I actually like Zach. He does take care of us when we need a game. I mean, he has really terrible opinions on games. He sucks at his game picks, but, you know, we'll deal with that. Silver Ball Chronicles used to be found on TPN, but now are flying on their own thanks to Zach and his magic wand. Be sure to listen to our last episode on Home Pin. We got an email from him, by the way. Mike from Home Pin. let's see one last public service announcement oh you'll like this Star Wars and Dialed In still suck one of your many maybe ten in total STDs Cole wow Cole's on fire on fire el fuego on the ocho let's see oh god guess who we got next the bastard son of pinball oh no was he the one that called what did he call Zach the the no fun something vampire yeah the fun vampire fun vampire it wasn't fun but it was something like that yeah he sucks all the fun out of pinball okay this is uh unpinned pinged so with the overrated game uh last time i felt the need to give you guys a better quicker game to play on the show if you like it maybe it'll make i'll make it a reoccurring game like make it pro oh yes hi to tom he was there he was there pinberg i just want to say hi make it mr make it pro um guess the game from the unhinged pinball reviews okay i'm going to give you an unhinged pinball machine review and you need to guess the game to make it easier for you it will be a non modern stern game from either one of your collections okay all right here's this review This machine is an insult to the industry. The playfield design is fine. It even gives a good game, but the graphics suck. It just looks like the company slapped together a few Gottlieb spares and got someone's cousin to do the graphics. Top tip, avoid. Four and a half out of ten. I don't know. Hmm. Let's see. I don't know either on that one. I'm not going to look at the answers yet because they're all at the bottom, so I've got to go through all the questions first. but yeah i don't know that one so is it a god it's a god it's gotta be a gottlieb so i don't think this would explain alien star or no or um surface safari so what gottliebs do you have can you repeat it again repeat the whole thing yes as soon as you get closer to the camera the machine is an insult to the industry the playfield design is fine it even gives a good game but the graphics suck it looks like the company slapped together a few gottlieb spares and got someone's cousin to do the graphics. Oops. Okay. We'll see if that's right. Okay, this is the next one. If you can get past the horrific music and speech, I don't understand how some people enjoy this aspect of the game. This game is really something special. Probably my favorite play field layout from the pre-DMD era, and that says a lot. This game is a ton of fun. Just play without the music. so it's got to be a game with really good music or really bad music no it's got to be a game with really good music pre-dnd era black knight 2000 okay i'll go with that uh let's see third one pretty boring okay playfield toys looks like they came out of a mcdonald's meal pack ramps are for babies a good feature is the way the lights build up but overall save your money and buy something from Bally or Williams. Okay, so it's not Bally or Williams. The lights build up. I don't know that one. Save your money, son. Yeah, I don't know that one. I'm curious what somebody's going to be. Another game I played at the recent show. The fact that I sort of forgot about this one until seeing a link to it somewhere might be indicative of something. This game is a mixed bag. Really, this isn't a bad game, but it doesn't seem to come together. The backlash is okay, although we've seen better, but the play field is sparse in artwork with a lot of extra space. I'm not sure why they made this one a wide body. The sound is technically good for the time period, but it's annoying. Demoman? Yeah, probably Demoman. But wait a minute. Did he say it couldn't be a newer game? He said non-modern Stern game. Okay, so it could be Demoman. I'll say Demoman. Yeah, I agree with that one. Let's see. Two reviews, one game. Hint, this is a classic Stern. Okay. People seem to have a real boner for this game. Quicksilver. I'll say, I don't get it. Plus, going for 5K. Say what? Get real. This game is okay at best. It does nothing for me. It's got to be Quicksilver. I'm thinking Stargazer. But he said boner, and it has penises on the play field. Mm-hmm. Okay. This is one of the worst pins I have ever played The artwork is great But the rest of the game is a tragic mistake I can't imagine why this game was produced Other than name recognition Meteor So that had a name recognition? Meteor was a movie But it had great art? Okay, I'll go with Meteor then Let's see So the first one was Bad Girls the second one was black night 2000 uh the third one the one with uh playfield toys that came out of mcdonald's meal pack is surf at safari oh wow oh no the wide body uh was cheetah oh let's see um the one that i said was quicksilver's nine ball oh wow i wouldn't got that the real boner threw me real boner i just went immediately to quicksilver especially also going for 5k yeah do nine balls go for 5k no to 3 000 that's why i was running the playfield um mine was 800 um let's see one of the worst pins the artwork is great but it uh produced other than name recognition monopoly wow wow these are hard this game is too hard bastard son of pinbot you bastard you killed kenny oh let's see no need to read this out just an f oh yeah it's from dr john but They actually mentioned this on the Pinball News, Pinball Magazine podcast. Okay. So I guess I could say it because it was mentioned on the podcast that a bulletin went out to Blues Brothers owners that there was some kind of a MOSFET that could randomly short and lock shit on on the game. Surprise, surprise, surprise. And they blamed the supplier. But you can contact them and get new Mosfets and stuff. Yeah, I fucking, yeah. But they mentioned it right on there, the other podcast. So I guess I could say it. Let's see. See, this one's from Jeff. It says, hi, gents. Hope all is well. First, did you see ESPN picking up some pinball? That was the ESPN Ocho. also gary gnu was on the great space coaster not fraggle rock that must be something you said i know i was really thrown by that and then i looked back and they were right but i was like i thought it was on because i never watched a great space coaster so that's what really got me thrown off yeah i know yeah i don't know what that is it's the great space coaster get on board for the Great Space Coaster we'll explore. He says, finally, I have in my possession a Williams solids and stripes that was generously given to me by a friend. Thanks again, Dennis. I'm slowly trying to bring it back to life. I first worked on it cosmetically and it looked so much better than when I got it. I just cleaned and am replacing the score reels in the backbox using parts from another free Williams parts game from the same year. Being fairly new to the hobby and even more of a novice in repairs i am taking as an opportunity to learn as much as i can i've been working on my soldering skills and just getting over the fear of taking something apart and totally and not totally fucking it up have either of you worked on ems and had the experience of bringing a machine back to life not an em no uh well i've worked on ems but i haven't brought him back to life yeah no if so i'd like to hear about the experience it's dead jim uh i did fix uh let's see what what em issues i had my spanish my spanish eyes was not what was it doing it was going to like 100k when you weren't at 100k yet because the switch was misadjusted but i figured it out and i was very happy and i did rip apart the Prospector when I got it, but it was pretty much working. I had to screw with the player unit. The one that switches to the next player. I had to try like five different springs to get it adjusted right so it would work properly. You gotta get your spring working better. Yeah, it'll mean a thing if you ain't got that spring, bro. If you ain't got that spring. As far as bringing other games to life, that big game that you brought over that all the boards were just acid like done so basically got new boards that's kind of cheating though love the show keep up the great work as always hugs to Ron Jeff yes yes okay just two more you feel the love Ron yes I feel the love it's good to be back. It's good to not edit. It's great to not edit, isn't it? I'm just... It did take me a while to get the intro together, which Bruce actually hasn't heard yet, even though he acted like he did. It's good. Trust me. But guess what? I had to honor the Hulkster and Ozzy. I had to do it. 254 episodes. I don't know how I got through editing all of them, but I just do it. duh and it's shit i know okay this is from jim he says hello ron and bruce hope you are doing well is it me you're looking for i can see it in your eyes oh god that video with i can see it in your that's the video where the blind chick yeah the thing that doesn't look anything like him i know oh god you're i was thought if i saw that i'd be like okay Hey. Pinberg 2025 is the subject. From the last episode, was a bit confused over Bruce's grail game list. You know, Bruce does tend to confuse even me. Yes. Sounded more like a wish list, not a grail list to me. No. Bruce's. Because I got in all my grail games. Oh. In light of the awful game that we all know from this year's Pinberg finals, Black Hole. Oh, God. What an overrated, wide-body, flaming turd. Yes. Like Twilight Zone. Yes, it is. Totally. Oh, yeah, Black Hole, they just shot the lock shot when it wasn't lit and got 5,000 and did it over and over and over. So the tournament players have once again ruined another game. Yes. I have a question for you guys. If you were to create an all-godly Pinberg bank, what would be your list of games? That's a good question. Bad girls? Well, hold on. So you have your E, just for the people who don't know, for Pinberg, it's basically electromechanical, like an early solid state, alphanumeric, and then a DMD or like a new stern. Okay. So he chose, for his EM, target pool. Okay. Early solid state, he chose alien star. Okay. Alphanumeric, he chose hoops. Okay. And DMD, he chose Stargate. I am actually three out of four with him okay the only one I would go different with I was actually either Alien Star or Countdown would be my I can go with either one but my EM would be Surfside I'll try to combine mine, I asked Zach this question because I think this email came in when I was over there and Zach didn't want to put for EM he put out Far Out. So for early solid state, he didn't really want to do Countdown because you already have all the drop targets. Yeah. So I'll go with that. So I'll say Alien Star. Yep. Alpha Numeric, I'm going to say Surface Safari. Ah, hoops. Just because I love my Surface Safari. Hoops. And for GMD? Stargate. It's definitely Stargate. Oh, wait a minute. It has to be Gottlieb. I'm sorry. I totally screwed up this thing. Yes, you did. I forgot it was supposed to be Gottlieb. So, yeah. So, be far out. Alien star. Surf at Safari. I was supposed to say Surf at Safari. DMD. I'm going to do No Good Gophers. Not No Good Gophers. Teed Off. Teed Off. I like Teed Off. I'm sorry. I know you do. I know. There's something wrong with you? You know, there's something wrong with that? Yeah, my reading comprehension is I didn't see the clearly written Gottlieb part. Gottlieb. Yeah. Jesus Christ. Three out of four, though. I definitely agree with him. I just changed my EM. Okay, this is Jeff again Subject part two Hello again I emailed you a few days ago and have another question for you I was recently traveling And went to a spot with multiple games I was so excited to get there And play since I had an hour and a half to kill Great game selection Well When I got there I did not do my due diligence I didn't check out pin map I didn't walk through I just went, got a bunch of tokens and went to play Unfortunately, all the games were in such horrible condition and so poorly lit that I could barely play. There was one or two games out of 20 plus I was able to flip a few times, but was so pissed I didn't even enjoy those games at all. I mentioned something to the guy behind the desk who tried to tell me that the lighting was poor in the place and needed repair, but the games didn't have lights to light up the playfields, just the lights for shots on the playfield, which I knew was BS. Since my family was there and we were leaving shortly I decided to just leave it be When I went on to Pinball Map There were bad reviews so lesson learned Where was this place? He's not going to say that My question Would you have pressed further Or just said fuck it and left like me I would have done that I'm not a person who's just going to sit there And bitch shit for a second Being newish to the hobby I feel I didn't have the chops yet to argue Especially about specific games If they're that fucked up, you arguing with them is not going to make any difference. No, he's just going to go, whatever. Fuck you, dude. That's what he's going to say. Thanks again for your insight, Jeff. All right. I think, wait a minute. I think there's another one here. Pull it out, big boy. It's the last one. Oh, God, the subject line. This is from Scott. Scott S. It says, Bally Bricks is the subject. Oh, boy. Hi, Ron and Bruce. I know how much you and your listeners love repair talk, so I'd appreciate hearing your approaches for dealing with ballet drop targets that are bricking. Don't use new ones. Yeah, don't use new ones. That's hard, though. I finished up a nice skateball, but I'm getting bricks, especially on the center drops. Also, my Marco rubber kit came with two rubbers for behind each set of drops. Do you recommend one or two? Whatever came from the factory. look at the factory rubber kit display on the uh on the manual okay so you think the factory is always right yeah of course i mean bricks bricks there's a couple things if you look on pin side there's a couple things for bally bricks and for stern bricking there's also the 3d printed ones yeah the guys do pretty good yeah you can do all tombstone variety so they hopefully might work a little better yep um save a lot of used ones yeah that's why i usually go to pinball shows and just grab my old used ones because for some reason they just seem to be better but even the old ones will brick yes they do but but like i had i'll give you an example i had bricking targets on the countdown and when i looked at them the targets the two bottom banks which never brick they had more space in between the target and the rubber behind it, noticeably. So what I ended up doing is the target bank banks in the back, I just loosened where the whole mech is mounted and tried to shove it back or forward or whatever. Whatever direction would give me more space and it actually moved. There was some play. Tightened them up and I had a little more space and bricking gone. It could be something as easy as that. There is some play. There is some play with those mechs. Yeah, some people also, they grind the bottom of the target, so where it sits on the lip, you make it a little more rounded, not as sharp of an edge. That's another thing. See, I would think that would make it so they might not reset properly. Yeah, it's a fine line. It really is. But some people do it, and some people swear by it. I've done it a couple times, and I've had good and bad success. Have you swore? I've swore many times I fucking swear a lot honestly Pinside would be your best resource to talk about bricking and what to do besides what we do buy older targets find older targets and just buy max and depending on what kind of banks you have make sure you have the right springs on them because if you have Gottlieb they have springs they have two different types of springs they have a tension and a primary and a secondary You've got to make sure you've got the right springs, and it does make a difference. It does. So he said, curious to know what the approach is for level zero in the Rochester Pinball Collective, located at 349 West Commercial Street, East Rochester, New York, 2965. Had to get that in there. Thanks, Scott S. Me, as I said, you know, we buy old targets. And right now I have the ones from Australia for the stars next, for the whites and the reds. From Australia. Some guy from Australia made them for you. They're 3Ds, yeah. Okay. So what does that tell you? I don't like the new ones. The new ones suck. They're just too hard. They don't give at all. Just not well done. Steve from Pinball Resource, if you get the Gottlieb ones, they're better. But if you get any of the Sterns or Ballys, you know what – Aren't the Stern ones he sells the same size as the Bally ones still? Yes. So you have to shim them Because otherwise they sit too low Yes and they're terrible I had to do that on the meteor targets I got for him And actually several of them were warped Yeah they're terrible But I just well They've worked fine ever since I just used a heat gun to straighten them out And put some like Where they rest I shimmed it So they're nice and flush And I had zero issues with them Zero I think that's it Bruce and perfect time he's ready for bed yeah I am ready for bed okay well I got the plug section where I got right next to it I'm not going to forget this time Silverwell Chronicles is my other podcast listen to our latest episode on Homepin and see what Homepin said well that'll probably be the next episode I don't know if we're reading it on the air I actually haven't thoroughly read it it was just like setting the record straight if you will and I was very nice I thought on that podcast unlike this one I didn't shit on everything like I do here but even I don't think I totally shit on Thunderbirds originally the game played fine I just saw hitting the ramps hitting that a zillion times was stupid and the fact that every time you locked a ball if you then drained the next ball it just gave you the locked ball back so if you were good at all you could just play infinitely yes those were my main issues with it oh there's a lot of issues with that game that's right gary i just think of team america though when i see of course oh yeah i don't believe he proved himself 100 devoted to the pinball company he proved it last night by sucking my... I'm sorry. Bum, bum. All right, that's enough. This has been episode 254 of the Slam Tilt Podcast. You can send us correspondence to the mail ball bag, the slamtiltpodcast at gmail.com.
