Okay, let's do this. Let me get my notes. Fuck. I have nothing. Alright, what in the hell? Let's do it anyway. Yeah, um, let me just send you through all my notes, which I don't have any. Oh, maybe the best podcast ever. Enjoy, here we go!

The Pinball Network is online. Launching final round pinball podcast. It's player versus player and player versus machine. Welcome to the final round.
0:56
Can I start by asking you a question? Please, please allow me this. Can I be one of those pricks and say, you just asked a question. No!
1:11
Okay, my question to you is, how was Wolf Mother? Thank you for asking. So, ladies and gentlemen, two incredible forces together at once. I saw Wolf Mother in concert. Yes, that's right. Australia's greatest rockers and Australia's greatest pinball player ever together. And in fact, after the concert, enjoyed a few drinks at a bar and shot the shit. God, I love that fucking band. They are so good. So I'm obviously talking about the fact that you've taken a photo with Andrew Stockdale. Yes. The Weasley singer. So where was that taken? That was at a sidebar next to a concert they were playing in Toronto. So you might remember this, but when I was in Australia in 2020, when I basically set the world of pinball on fire. Yeah, you drank on a cock cup. Yep. I still have it. It's great.
2:05
Dr. John gave me a birthday gift, and one of the birthday gifts was a set of Australia sunglasses. Yes, I can see them. Now, I might have thrown out everything else he gave me, but I saved those thinking someday, somehow, that might come into play. And sure enough, when I got the picture taken with Andrew, I threw those on. He loved it.

By the way, he was in the photo for the concert. It's a picture of him standing beside Ghostbusters pinball machines.
    2:34
And I said, did you take that at Frankie's Pizza in Sydney? Because he's from Sydney, I believe. And he said, no, no, it was done in Brisbane. But he knew Frankie's, and we started talking about Frankie's. Oh, I miss that place. And he said to me, he goes, yeah, it's a train station now. And I said, I thought I heard that. That's so sad. But my question to you, really, what I'm trying to get at, because you just keep rambling on, is did you follow him like a fucking stalker? Or did you just happen to bump into him because you just were at the same place? Have mouth, will travel.
    3:05
No, listen, so here's the place, the Danforth Music Hall in Toronto. And the tour bus is out front of it. And I'm like, okay. At the end of the concert, I'm like, he's got to go to the tour bus. so I could stand around. There weren't many other people. There were a couple other guys that wanted to get a few autographs and stuff and I thought, well, I'm going to be that guy, I think. And then it was fucking cold outside so I went into this sidebar that's right beside it and sure enough, they're in the back there and I'm like, eh. And I knew some people that knew me and we just hit it off great. It was like an hour of just talking music and other things and life. I mean, I've been a fan of that band for a long time. So if you call that stalkery, I don't know. Is it okay for me to buy somebody I admire a drink? I don't think so. It's a kind gesture. No. I mean, did you blow him? He wouldn't let me. I don't know. Yeah. That's, you know. It's the goatee, I think. You know, a little rough around the rim.
    4:05
So welcome, everybody, to Episode 76. Is that what we are? I don't even know. We are Episode 76. Yeah. Yeah, and folks, 100% pinball. We promise we're here to deliver. I mean, this is the place you come to. The big news, of course, is Jaws is going to be coming out. That's the rumor. That's the hype. Let's talk about Jaws, the movie, shall we? Okay. I'm going to start by saying Jaws is the only movie ever, ever that I have walked out of the cinema. What? I mean, obviously, I mean Jaws 3D. now what you gotta understand is that i think i have said many times how obsessed i was with 3d back in the 80s i didn't care what the movie was it could have been terms of endearment in 3d for all i fucking care as long as it was 3d treasure of the four crowns if anybody gets their hand on it treasure of the four crowns was it was an indiana jones ripoff movie but it was in 3d i loved 3d so much so jaws 3d i'm like oh it's jaws awesome and it's 3d oh my god put these things together pineapple apple pen whatever that name was anyway shit house walked out but let's talk about the original movie well i want to go back to the 3d uh because back in the day that sucked you had the the red and the green different eyeball glasses which fucked you if you were colorblind, by the way. It meant nothing. In fact, you probably were literally blind watching that. It was gimmicky and there weren't a lot of those movies out, so the fact that at least an IP in Jaws was something you knew. I remember watching 3D movies but they were Japanese dubbed movies just to get the 3D experience. When Jaws came out, okay, what you got in 3D quality, they saved in story writing apparently, so not the best. But anyway, the big movie, Jaws. Richard Dreyfuss, Roy Schneider, and Robert Shaw, three legendary actors who really brought a lot to the movie. Robert Shaw looked like he was kind of drunk throughout the movie as the captain.
    6:22
Might have been method acting. Might have been hammered for a lot of the scenes. You didn't walk out of that theater. I fucking love that movie so much. I've seen it several times. It's one you pass down to your kids and watch. I don't know what the right age to watch that movie is because there's that scene where Richard Dreyfuss is scuba diving and he goes and sees that kind of head pop out of the boat with the eyeball kind of floating. And that, by the way, was shot in a swimming pool, not in the ocean. I didn't know if you knew that or not. So this movie came out in 1975. So you and I were both five years old. Sure. Just because we know that we were born the same year. Yes. So I have seen this movie It is a movie It exists Nice review, well done I cannot remember A single scene from this movie What? Seriously You're fucking kidding me When Brody says you're going to need a bigger boat You don't remember that? By the way, improvised line That wasn't part of the script Don't remember that I just saw that recently on a, it was like the top 15 improvised lines in movies. And there's a lot of them that are really famous lines. Yeah. So, yeah. No, I honestly don't remember anything about it at all. Like, when was the last time you saw it? Probably when it came out. Oh, no. I wouldn't have seen that when I was five, but I would have seen it in my teens. I reckon I would have been maybe 14, 15 when I saw it. Okay. It's based on the Peter Benchley book, which was legendary. and when they got the movie rights for this, it was going to be big. They put a lot of trust in Steven Spielberg, who obviously we know what he's done today, and his vast catalog is just spectacular. But they were putting a lot of faith in a guy who had made only one movie and some TV shows and stuff. And sure enough, he threw faults of the mechanical shark that didn't work, named Bruce, by the way. He kind of made it almost more Hitchcock-like, and you never actually got to see the shark, and the music was almost like the character. So really very creative with a lot of adversity just to make things happen when things failed. I thought it was brilliant. You've got to watch it again. Holy shit, I think I've seen that movie 20 times. Yeah, I'm not saying, oh, it's a bad movie. I just don't remember it because it was a movie that happened, that I saw it, but it never stayed with me. So, you know, I guess I'm saying when people are like, oh, it's the best theme. It's like I actually think it is a fantastic theme for a machine. Oh, yeah. We're going to get into what we could possibly see on that. We'll definitely talk about that for sure. Yeah, absolutely. So I think it makes for a great theme. It's just not a movie that lasted with me is all I'm saying. Well, we want to get into some of the nitty gritty and the details here because let's be honest, it's TWIP season and people are voting for their favorite podcast. We want to give them that quality to really earn that vote because it is absolutely the most important thing. And the reason why we do this podcast, there is no other reason to get your fucking Twippy vote, please. We just want your votes. I know there are better podcasts. Just lie this one fucking year, will you? It's so, so, so important to both Marty and I. Like, we don't sleep. Yeah. It's nail-biting season, so that's why we're going to, on this podcast, give you as much fucking content as we possibly can. just to be able to really earn your vote, so to speak. Okay, so back to Jaws again. Well, the other thing I'll add to that is when the nominations come out and they have like a 30-second clip, that clip is coming from this episode alone. It has to be. In fact, sorry to everyone else, but I'm probably going to play the whole fucking podcast. And I feel bad because you have to vote for a second and third favorite podcast. I don't think you can vote for us for all three. I know you want to, but again, we will earn it on this podcast alone. I mean, this is it. This is the heart. We're not fucking around. I mean, we goof off most of the time, but people come for pinball content. Maybe it's competition. Maybe it's to get in the nitty-gritty of rules and all that stuff. Well, we're going to deliver, but I do want to talk more about Jaws the movie. Go for it. Do you remember the name of the boat?
    10:42
You're fucking Googling. Every time you pause, I know you're Googling. Oh. Yeah. Oh. Oh, let me. Give me the answer. Go ahead. Just at least make this sound effect in the background. All right.
    10:56
Let me hear you fucking type. You're taking too long. No, no, but no, you don't. You won't hear me typing. I've been on the Wikipedia page as soon as you mentioned Jaws like 10 minutes ago. So I'm scrolling. I'm not typing. But it doesn't mention the name of the boat. Orca. Oh, okay. The Orca. The reason I thought that was interesting is because, you know, much like when Star Wars was a movie and, oh, my God, everybody's got to make a space movie afterwards, and Star Trek made a motion picture, and there was the black hole, and everyone was doing their, you know, space movies. After Jaws, they made a movie called Orca about a killer whale. And I don't know which is a bigger piece of shit, that or Jaws 3D. But, again, back to Jaws. And, again, we're going to get to the pinball stuff, we promise you. But the orca, probably the most famous scene is, you know, when, and so spoiler alert, when the captain gets eaten by Jaws and just the fucking scream he does. I don't even remember that saying. Are you fucking nuts? No. It was almost like he had a death wish, too, because like he, you know, they're calling Mayday, Mayday. They're trying to get the Coast Guard. He fucking smashes the radio. He's like, all right. Oh, what an idiot. Is the Sharks going down or we're going down with it? And it was just like... Yeah, he was pushed. He was pushed for sure. I would have pushed him. Well, I mean, that's the difference between you and I. Speaking of pushing, by the way, and going back to the wolf mother thing. Sure. Do you see Stuart Thornton at all in any of your ongoing day-to-day operations or just as a friendly situation? I talk to him. Do you? I talk to him. Is he within arm's slash fist reach? No. Do you want me to hit him?
    12:41
I think you do It's got to really hurt I mean I know the segment is Who will Marty save but I would be up for a who will Jeff save Sure Whoever you put up Yeah so it's as good as done Now he's trying to get me into a band Which I think you might like They're called The Lizard Thing King Gizzard and the Wizard Lizard I think Okay funny enough Well it's also what you'd name your wiener Go ahead you told me lizzie for sure yeah yeah very short so as try as I might I just can get into them Ah, well. And so Stu Thornton's been trying to get me into the King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard for a very long time. Nitson did too on Facebook when that picture was posted on our final round thing of Andrew and myself. You can see the joy in Andrew's face, by the way. We should have recorded the whole conversation. But anyway, yeah, I'm sure the band is fine, but they're no fucking wolf mother. And I'm not saying it's just different. Listen, it's subjective. It's art. It's music. It will get you. I love that band. I love that 20 years later, he can still sound like he did on the first album. And he's just great live. I've seen him a bunch of times. It's been a long time since they came back to Canada. It's, you know, when you were talking to Ed Robertson or artists that, boy, I'd love to see you come to Australia. That's a big, big expense. I would imagine the same for somebody like Wolf Mother to come to North America.
    14:14
So let's just hover around music for a little while. Yeah, because we want to talk about good upcoming music pins. We'll get to that. Yeah.
    14:26
So my thoughts are on Wolf Mother as well, is that they had this phenomenal album, and it might have been their debut album. Sure. Had the Joker and the Thief and Love Train. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Banger. So as you know, I am not into rock music at all. Like, I really just am not. However, when there's good rock, I really get into good rock. And I fucking smashed that album. Yeah. Absolutely loved it. But they haven't really had that much success album-wise since then. Obviously, they've been touring and they've got a good concert following. Yeah, they came out of the gate pretty strong. no question, great debut album. The second album was called Cosmic Egg, and it featured some great songs, songs that are featured in tour, but not the same quality as what that first Wolf Mother album had. A lot of personnel changes, too. It's always been Andrew Stockdale, but when I was talking to the band, they were saying he likes to mix it up. It's different ideas, fresh ideas. They had a Victorious album that came out a few years ago that did very well. Again, still never reached the debut album, but they did tell me, and fuck, I don't care. I doubt they're listening. If they are, I love you. But they told me, watch for a 20th anniversary of that first album tour in the coming year. So if you love that first album, you're going to see it in its entirety. But that brings me up to music pins. Elton John came out and all that kind of stuff, and people are loving that. And there's some bands out there. I'm not saying Wolfmother would make a great pin, but there's got to be some out there that would be great pins what are some of the bands that you you're not going to say craftwork are you no no no one couple of things and i've been meaning to mention this last couple of episodes i saw the movie rocket man oh fuck you did i did thank you give it to me worst movie ever you and i'm not just saying it to be oppositional i'm going to explain to you why i thought that rocket man was a shit film and i mean fucking shit not just no it's not just for me it's a shit film it's a shit film and i think if you like it you're a shit person well i want to talk about the pinball machine in a second give me this uh bullshit review about rock man which i've seen i don't know five six times because he actually fucking sings he's a great actor and it shows elton john as as a bit of an asshole at times which he was Okay, wait, okay, I'm going to get to that. First of all, just because you've seen the movie five or six times doesn't mean you own the movie or you made the movie or the movie's a part of you. It's still just a movie. So let's just disassociate between you and the movie. I'm not talking about you, I'm talking about the movie. Okay? Cool. Excellent. I'm going to say the first thing I didn't like about it is that I thought it was a bit too whimsical. Oh, hold on a second. A musical whimsical? Come on. You can't be serious. Every fucking musical is whimsical. No. Nobody sings Bohemian Rhapsody.
    17:40
I'm saying, as a biopic, I didn't like the fact that they turned it into this camp musical thing. Okay? There you go. Hold on a second. For the next five minutes, and start your clock. For the next five minutes, everything you and I say has to be in song. Just, all right? No. No, no. I refuse. I will do it, Marty It's now your turn Go ahead, my friend No, just because you say we're going to do it Doesn't mean we're going to do it Because I'm pointing out it's whimsical Which I didn't like That's all I'm saying You don't like musicals then? No, that's not true Moulin Rouge is one of my favourite movies of all time Oh, voulez-vous coucher avec moi ce soir? Yeah, cool They rock that song Anyway, sure I want to talk about Elton John Pinball But go ahead, the movie We're going to So, that was the first part I didn't like that Joel, who is the person that plays the, who is the actor that plays him? He was phenomenal. Thank you. Should have won an Academy Award. Yeah, he was actually great in it. And some of the movie was actually quite funny. Taron Egerton, something like that. I fell in love with the movie Kingsman. Oh, fuck, you want to talk about a game. God, that's a good movie. Okay. So the other thing I didn't like was, and this happens in a lot of biopic movies and it happened in um bahamian rhapsody as well where a moment in time happens and they force feed you that moment do you know what i mean like okay sure it happened he got rejected or something happened but they just make this big oh this is where he got rejected fucking just don't slap me in the face with your cock just feed it to me slowly that's the first time you've ever said that i didn't mind the slapping i liked a little bit of in my face if you will because uh it was a big event you know certainly when the richard madden character uh his his manager screwed him over that was a big big deal and how he kind of broke down there i love the relationship he had with bernie toppin i thought that was awesome uh the thing with his mother i mean holy shit and his dad being a dick that was a great movie come on that's fine i just seriously you did not like the movie no i genuinely did not like the movie and i've spoken to so many people like yep they didn't like it either so is stewart one of them probably let him speak for himself the third thing the third thing i didn't like about the movie because i know that elton john was involved in creating the story of this right what i didn't like is that he was painting the fact that he was an asshole because of the drugs because of his mom and dad oh it's not really me look at my hard life that i've had that's why i'm a cunt no you're just a fucking cunt that's it you're a cunt you've tried to now blame it on your mom and dad and the industry and the drugs no you're a cunt and you're still a cunt that's it cool so when you're not at haggis um where do people reach out to you for therapy this podcast is my therapy this is how i get it out of my system anyway there you go that was that was helton john i would watch rocket man 10 times before watching bohemian rhapsody again and i love queen i do i love queen uh but that was whimsical because it wasn't factual nor was rocket man but doesn't matter i they weren't it was No. The rehab. Oh, okay. So that bit where he was playing the piano and his legs started rising into the air, that bit happened, did it? Which tour was that? It was at the Troubadour, in fact, and there's an actual still... Even short of the end credits, the picture where his legs are in the... It's him jumping. Sure. So he didn't actually fly like it's... Oh, fuck. No, I'm just trying to say, if you're saying it's a factual movie, is it or not? I'm dying to talk about The Pinball Machine, but now you've got me thinking about, Okay, what are great movies to... No, okay. Let's just... No, what's a good movie? Let me see. What's in your ballpark? What's a good movie? Oh, you like that fucking Everything Everywhere one, which is fine. Yeah, of course I do. Yeah. Matrix is a favourite of mine. Oh, come on. It is. The original. Absolutely. You don't care about acting at all? No. Well, I mean, Keanu's never really acted in any movie, am I right? Hold on a second. Let me just quote Point Break from 1991. I am an FBI agent.
    22:15
Yeah. Insert that in any Keanu. I love Keanu. The person, I like the person a lot. His movies, I mean, fuck every John Wick movie. I remember going to see John Wick 4, and boy, that would make a great pinball machine. Maybe we can talk about that. But seeing John Wick 4, and I said to my son, I'm like, I don't know if he said 10 words in this movie. I think the longest dialogue he's had was maybe one sentence. So of the four movies, which one do you reckon would be my favorite? I don't know, because I think I saw part of one and maybe part of two. I haven't seen any of three or four. I don't know. I've seen none of them is really the answer. Oh, trick question. Yeah, it was a trick question. I tried watching one once, and it's not that I didn't enjoy it. It was the first one. It just started so slow. I just went, you know what? One day I'll come back to that, and I never did. Okay. Anyway. Sorry, I'm on a tight schedule here. This probably is only going to be an hour podcast, so we do have a lot to get to. I think John Wick would make a great machine. But seriously, why haven't you seen any of these movies? I just don't care for movies. I just don't You have a fucking home theater Oh I know what you watch Oh I'm disgusted the poor curtains I know what you're watching No I've got computers for that Or my phone No I play video games Is the story right Hold on a second you're in your 50s Pardon me Playing video games Actually that's bullshit What system do you use Because I was on playstation 5 the other day And I was checking out my friends and it said you hadn't been on in quite some time. Yeah. What are you playing? Two reasons. First of all, I have my profile on PS5 set to invisible, so you don't know when I'm on. Oh, what a creep. You're a creep. Second of all, three weeks ago, I bought an Xbox Series X. Okay. You know, this is a pinball podcast, and here you are talking about video games. But it's all game. We're talking about gaming, right? I know, but like... We'll get to the pinball in a sec. It's Twippy season, all right? We've got to do our pinball stuff right now, because this is probably our last show of voting, so we'll get into it in a sec. We could talk about video games that would make good things. But the reason why I bought an Xbox Series X was to play a game called Starfield, which came out from Bethesda, and it was their first real new IP.
    24:32
And I didn't actually really like the game that much. So I ended up with this Xbox Series X, and I'm like, well, what do I do with it now? We signed up for Game Pass, which is kind of like PlayStation Plus, you know, where you get your free dose of games. I would say probably three times the amount of games are available on Xbox Series X than PlayStation Plus, which PlayStation Plus is just the price has increased by about 20%. Yeah, I noticed that. Well, what's available on it has probably decreased by about 50%. It's just shit house. Xbox Series X is great. I'm not into console wars. I have owned every major console since the Atari VCS or 2600, whichever one you want to call it. I have owned just about every console, so I don't have a bias either way. So I can objectively say right now Xbox Series X has just got more on offer than PlayStation, PS5. There you go. We've talked about video games, and we're shocked that some of these aren't pinball machines. I saw a new trailer for Fallout. That's a famous video game that I guess Amazon's doing. a series so uh we can talk about the possibilities of that being a game but do you know anything about fallout the video game yes i have played fallout there's several of them yeah i can't remember which one i got on board with i am just googling because i always let you know when i'm googling answers it's based on like what happens after the apocalypse right correct it it really is um i have a feeling that it might have been fallout 2 was the first one fallout 3 fallout 3 was probably the first yeah xbox 360 yeah probably would have been fallout 3 and fallout 4 i've played and then there's all these other spin-offs which i haven't really played but Fallout 3 Fallout 4 just a fantastic environment to be in and I think Fallout would absolutely make for a phenomenal pinball machine Absolutely. For those listening to the final round for the very first time here, this is a podcast in which we talk about pinball, a lot of competitive angles and stuff, and maybe some speculation. So here we are talking about Fallout and video games. The Last of Us came out on TV, so it's now got even more mass appeal. That was big. Season 2 is coming out. That's one, I think. Okay, I hardly ever, ever play video games unless it's sport games. I did play The Last of Us even before the TV show came out. I thought, oh, that's kind of cool. Again, PlayStation Plus had it on there. I'm like, oh, let me try this thing. It looks pretty good. I've heard about it. It was fun. The story mode games are probably I don't have the patience for. Or if I do, I don't sit down and do it all at once. It takes me a while to do it because I don't sit in front of a TV longer than two hours maximum, whether it's anything. but I thought it was pretty cool and looking forward to season two. Do you know that franchise at all? Yeah, I have played Last of Us and Last of Us 2 and I think that they are two of the best games that have ever existed.
    27:43
And I've got an issue with the TV show in that I'm just... Too whimsical? Is it too whimsical, Marty? Yeah, it's when he's playing the piano and his legs rise up in the air for absolutely no reason. Oh, fuck off. And then he blames the virus and the post-apocalyptic all on his mother and his father's relationship and the drugs that he was on. That's, no, I just. Again, for those first listening to this podcast for the first time, you're pretty much sensing who the cunt of the hosts are. But go on. It's you. Okay. But is there an actor or actress that it does not matter what they do, you just cannot watch a movie that they're in or a TV show? Vin Diesel. Okay, interesting. Yeah, fair enough. It didn't matter who the person was. It was just so that you knew that Pedro Pascal, just for some reason. Fuck off. For some reason. He's outstanding. I cannot explain. I'm sure he is. No. I don't like his face. I don't like his acting. But I don't think he's a bad person or he's a bad actor. Just I cannot watch him. I don't like it. There you go. I've said it. The Mandalorian, he wears a mask in it, but great voice delivery. Mandalorian's great. Oh, well, that's him. I just said I don't like his face. Did you not get that? How about Game of Thrones where I first found out who this guy was? I'm like, holy shit. and I think he was the Dorne guy and he had to fight the mountain and oh, it's one of the greatest scenes ever in Game of Thrones. Yeah, it's fantastic. And if you don't like his face, you'll fucking love that episode because it gets crushed. Well, his eyes do. How bad was that? Oh, that was outstanding.
    29:32
Outstanding. So, there you go. Yep. And the Lannister, Hand of the King, whatever the Peter Dinklage character watching that and just knowing his fate was, oh, fucking awesome. It was so, oh, it was so good. Anyway, That's all I'm trying to say to you Hold on a second The Kingsman Speaking of the The create Oh fuck off The Kingsman is Better than most James Bond movies The first one The second one's not bad too But he's The second one He's great in it He has a great fight scene Oh you're Okay cool Team Pedro right here No that's great Good for you I'm just telling you that's why I couldn't watch Last of Us But also I don't need to Because I've played the games I know the story Yeah yeah Okay You know what? Normally we save this for later, and fuck, I'm really crunching time. We've got a lot to get to, but yay. Who will Marty save, Pedro Pascal or Rocketman the movie?
    30:25
One will be eliminated from IMDb forever. That wonderful Chilean actor, Pedro Pascal, has given us such great memorable moments, The Last of Us, and of course, I mentioned the Kingsman sequel of Mandalorian. Wonder Woman, 84. he was in there. He was also in the Unbearable Weight of Messy Talent. He was great. Yep, yep. He's been in a lot of things that are currently in front of me on Wikipedia. Narcos, obviously. Or Rocketman. One has to be eliminated. Never to exist. IMDB can't find it because Marty and his magical time machine, you know that one that you bought? Yep, yep. Or our lineup at Universal or whatever.
    31:11
You and a bunch of 10-year-old kids. Yep, yep. How many kids did you cut in front of? Be honest. Sure. All of them. Exactly. But this is an easy one. I would absolutely get rid of Rocketman. I think it is an absolute abomination of a movie. Whereas Pedro, I think if I gave him more time, he could grow on me. There you go. Also, he was in Mandalorian, which I really loved the first season. Second season was, eh, I haven't watched anything since. The Book of Boba Fett was absolutely terrible. Was it? Oh, yeah, fuck, it was bad. For some reason, this bounty hunter wanted to be some political leader and wanted to do good. I'm like, wait, that's not fucking Boba Fett. Anyway, it was bad. And I'm not trying to body shame, but the actor didn't fit into the suit anymore. I'm not saying Boba Fett. I'm just saying.
    32:09
And I can say that as a guy who's, like, super chubby, all right? so he's part of Team Chubb. But anyway, it didn't fit. Fuck, I don't have any notes here. What did we say we were going to talk about? Okay, just wait a second. Hold on a second. Let's just have a quick pause on that for a minute. Okay. So here I've just looked up what are the best Star Wars spin-offs ranked. I just don't know these things. What is considered a spin-off, like a TV show, like a Disney Plus spin-off, or Solo the movie or what was the other one? Rogue One. Those would be spinoffs. Rogue One was great. Anything that's not the nine main movies. Okay. Rogue One was pretty good. Correct. Hmm. So the Mandalorian, okay, we obviously know that. Obi-Wan Kenobi. It was terrible. Okay. I've not seen it. I mean, obviously. Andor was off the charts fucking great. And it didn't feel like a Star Wars movie because there weren't a lot of aliens in it. But the story writing of Andor is well worth the watch. I'm looking forward to Andor season two. It took me a while to get into it, but it pays off. Right. Okay.
    33:22
Funny enough, it made me go back and watch Rogue One, which I really didn't like at the time. I didn't hate it. I love the robot and the droid. But I thought, okay, we know what's going to happen. We know they're going to die because they sacrificed to get the plans to the Death Star. Sorry, spoiler alert. And also, I couldn't stand the dad jokes that Darth Vader was giving. Choke on your aspirin. Fuck off. Just be tough and scary. Although he had a great scene at the end there. Okay, sorry. I'm all over the place. So I absolutely really enjoyed Rogue One. And obviously, they couldn't make a sequel to it because of the way it ended. But it was great. Then there was also Solo. It's underrated. I think so, too. Donald Glover was so good as Lando, and Emilia Clarke was good. They had a Darth Maul cameo in there. It just was kind of a nightmare on the set. Remember the original creators of that movie were the guys who did the Lego movie, which was very, very funny. Disney fired them, and then Ron Howard kind of came in. So it's disjointed, right? Oh, much like Bohemian Rhapsody, same thing happened with that. Oh, did I mention that?
    34:32
some of the other star wars stuff as far as disney plus yeah like please fuck off and stop i didn't mind ahsoka but it was more of a payoff if you ever watched clone wars there were some things i really really liked and some things i was like oh come on uh i love rosario dawson too uh well cast there but yeah some of the star wars spinoff is just uh that's the problem sorry to say this disney plus and disney um you're milking shit whether it's marvel movies yeah too much i think this is quantity not quality that's their problem yeah you know you're right i just think that i think we're all just a little bit fatigued at retelling the same story or telling us a story in an environment that we already know just i just don't think there's a lot of risks out there on new things. They're playing it just a bit too safe. And again, yeah, how many Star Wars-related series do we need? And I think if they announced another one right now, they're going, okay, what would you think? You'd go, oh, another one, wouldn't you? I don't even know where you would go. Maybe Yoda prior to the prequel movies. Maybe it's Darth Vader, like just following him during the times of the Clone Wars. but I mean only because he's such a great character, but the stories have been told, you know where it's going to end. At least they're doing a new trilogy. Although, uh, unfortunately to many, they're going to follow the Ray character and, and her trials and tribulations and nothing new, nothing fresh. Eh, darn it. You know, I, I don't know how you, they're trying to recreate the wheel and it's, uh, it hasn't been successful. I think solo was the first time we saw, holy shit. There's a, There's a kink in the armor, so to speak, and the Star Wars machine isn't what it once was, because that did not do well, and they released movies every two years, as far as 7, 8, and 9, and one of the lovely things about the original trilogy, the first movie came out in 77, the next one in 1980, and in 1980, they gave us that cliffhanger, is Darth Luke's father. You had to wait three fucking years to find out, and that was maddening, And now it's just like, we'll find out next month on the next series. There's no buildup. So here we go. Here we go. I'm going to pitch to you a new Star Wars TV show. Okay? It's called Star Wars Skeleton Crew. Okay.
    37:11
We'll tie it back to Pinball in a second. Go on. Okay, sure. Cool. So the premise of this show is the series follows four kids who end up on an adventure to make their way home after being lost in the galaxy following a discovery they make on their home planet. So it's Stand By Me, the Star Wars movie? It's a series, a TV series. And I would cast someone like Jude Law. I would put him in there. I would also put in Jaleel White. Remember Urkel from Family Matters? I'd absolutely put him in the cast. Yeah, you want great actors. Go on. Right. So, yeah, this is a series that's coming out. Bullshit. Yep. I heard the Jude Law thing. I didn't know about the Urkel stuff. Okay. Oh, fuck me. Wait, wait, wait. Let me pitch another show to you if I can. This one I'm going to call The Acolyte. I've heard about this one. Yeah. Well, you've ruined the whole premise, obviously. Oh, well, tell me about it. I have no idea. Okay.
    38:09
Well recovered. The Acolyte is set at the end of the High Republic era in a world of shadowy secrets and emerging dark side powers. Approximately 100 years before Episode I, The Phantom Menace, A former Padawan reunites with her Jedi master to investigate a series of crimes, but the forces they confront are more sinister than they had ever anticipated. Okay. Evil cells? I think that's all right. There's one character they've never shown in the live-action world, and that's somebody that the Emperor talked about. He talked about Darth Plagueis, the wise, who kind of taught him the ways of the force. And if that's part of that, I'm in because that's the one character people want to see. Sure. Anyway, all I'm saying is that both those two episodes, which both two premises, which are upcoming, sound boring as fuck. Sorry. Yeah, they're not. Well, but again, what was the premise of the original Star Wars? Was that something that would have wowed you? Yeah, but, okay, different times. That was something that was completely new at that time. This, at the moment, where, okay, we are absolutely just swamped with content. Speaking of which, fucking Netflix fuckers, Shadow and Bone, they've just cancelled it after two seasons. So, you know, and what they say is, it rated really well, but... What the hell is Shadow and Bone? It another one of these It like Wheel of Time if you know Wheel of Time It a fantasy type thing It was Big budget maybe Yeah and that what they said is that with the amount of money that it takes for them to make these series versus what money they actually get back, it just doesn't make sense. And, oh, my God, don't even start my story. I'll get back to Pimble in a second. But this whole state of viewing at the moment where they give you these amazing series and they don't renew them. And I'm going to give you two if you can just humor me for a second. Hurry up because we've got to – We'll get to pinball in a sec. Because I reckon this would make a great pinball theme as well. Okay. Have you seen Warrior Nun? No. Right. So Damien got me onto this and I was like, I'm never going to fucking watch a show called Warrior Nun. It sounds stupid. How is nun spelled? N-U-N? Yep. Really? So what I can tell you is that this woman, she's a warrior nun. And they're warrior nuns. And you're like, that's fucking ridiculous. That's stupid. Watch it. It's actually really good. They did two seasons. Second season was just absolutely phenomenal. Got a massive following, huge ratings, and then they cancelled it. Apparently it's now coming back as three movies, but Netflix cancelled it because that's what they do. Netflix is losing a lot of money. No, I know. They were the monopoly, and then Disney was like, you know what? We're not going to give you any more content. We're going to create our own. Oh, Paramount Plus is going to do it. Here in Canada, there's Craven. There's Apple. Yeah, I know. You know what's going to happen? This is the truth. Sorry to cut you off here on Warrior Nun and whatever stupid Netflix shows that I'll never watch.
    41:29
What's going to happen is Netflix kind of killed cable. Netflix, why do I need cable when I can watch everything, all my favorite shows, past shows, new shows that they're creating new content, comedy shows, this, that, and the other thing? By the way, Ricky Gervais comes out on December 25th. I'm looking forward to that.
    41:46
Why do I need cable when I can get everything on Netflix? I'll cancel my cable. I'll do Netflix. Oh, well, Disney, you're like, fuck. We'll do our own. Paramount, we'll do our own. Apple, we'll do our own. Amazon, everything. Yeah. So you know what's going to happen is? Because everyone's kind of pilfered to everyone, I'm not going to pay for five, six different streaming services. They're going to all have to, at some point, either join forces because not everyone's going to survive. And I don't know who it's going to be first, but the bubble will fucking burn. So let me add to that. What's also happened at that same time was when Netflix came out, piracy was gone. I don't say gone, obviously, but people were all of a sudden happy to spend $20 a month on Netflix and not download TV shows and movies. That's what happened. It actually really curtailed piracy massively, as did Spotify. Don't you have a cheater box? What's that? I'm not saying I do.
    42:49
Where you basically pay somebody 15 bucks to give you all the programming and you get to watch all of these things I just mentioned. No, I don't. Because that is what will happen next. Well, so no, what's actually happened, and there's evidence of this that happened about 18 months ago, piracy is now absolutely back up because people have said, hang on, I was happy to pay $20 a month for Netflix, but I'm not paying. And I'll say in Australia, we've got another major streaming service called Stan. There's Binge. There's obviously Amazon Prime, so Prime Movies. There's Disney Plus. There's Paramount Plus. There's blah, blah, blah Plus, whatever there is. So all of a sudden streaming is now up to $100 a month. that's where people go, fuck that. I'm actually, back to pirating or getting an Android box or whatever the case may be. So there is something that I can't remember what it is, but someone was saying, oh, you got to watch this show and it's on Disney plus. I'm like, well, I'm, I am refusing to get Disney plus, not because I, I've got anything wrong with Disney or plus. Too many Pedro Pascal shows, right? Rocket Man's featured. Too many people where their legs just start levitating for no reason. What is this whimsical streamer?
    44:11
You're right. It's just too much. That's it. It is too much. And there's not enough content on one alone. That's the problem. You've got to get other ones. Oh, fuck, I want to watch Yellowstone. I've got to get Paramount. I mean, one thing that really did grind my gears was Netflix offered this new streaming tier where you could watch these shows, but it actually had advertising shown to you as well. And I think advertising on any LCD screen is just – I think that's just a bridge too far for me. I think that's offensive. If I pay for something, I shouldn't have them advertise other shows on something that I've paid for. Well, excuse me, if you buy a new Stern machine, you're seeing ads for a new pinball machine. We'll talk about why. Obviously what I'm getting at. Okay, yeah, we'll get to that in a second. But back to the Netflix thing.
    45:08
As somebody who sells advertising for a living, I think there is nothing wrong with that. And whether you're listening to terrestrial radio and you hear ads on that or to me, it's not that bad. And if it saves you a few bucks, whatever. People do that with Spotify, right? You can pay for the full service or have Spotify with that. It's no big deal. Yeah, no, I agree. Anyway, I just thought I'd bring that up. So back to music. I'm seeing Kraftwerk this Friday. What? Seriously, they're playing in Australia? They are indeed. Oh, I saw the video. And in your fucking city there in Melbourne, I want to say Melbourne, but it's really Melbourne, isn't it? It is Melbourne, yeah. Brian Jonestown Massacre. Now, that's a band I... Oh, my God. I'm a fan of them, right? I like their music a lot. Sure. I've never heard of them. No, no, no, no. But what happened was... I know now, yes. they did this concert and the lead singer was not happy with the guitar player and basically said yeah put the guitar down you're done go backstage you're done have a good think about your life he started fucking duking it out on stage and it's there's great videos of it too and after all the fisticuffs they're like uh yeah we're done for the night boot off the stage the band is done the tour is done wow that'd be fucking awesome i know so apparently and then And then they came out and they're like, you know, it's been completely blown out of proportion. There was a movie called Dig. Yes. Right? Yeah, I know all about it. Which was about them. And what's the other name of the band? The Dandy Warhols, maybe? Yes. Which I actually quite like, the Dandy Warhols. But this whole movie was all about the infighting.
    46:48
Yeah. And these guys are like, oh, I think it's really unfair that you've portrayed us this way. We're nothing like that. You actually just, you know, really. and then you come out and have a big fucking fisticuff on stage and people are like, huh, maybe that is what you're like. Watch for Dig 2 coming to a theater or streamer near you. Speaking of sequels, it was announced. This is Spinal Tap 2 is coming out. They start filming in February.
    47:13
Now, listen carefully. You can make fun of Rocketman. I think you're an idiot for doing so. It's a great movie. Sure. Bite your fucking tongue. This is Spinal Tap. It's one of the best movies ever. Do not say anything short of It is a masterpiece when you're talking to me Or we're fucking done Yeah, no, no, no, no, no Honestly, actually you know this already I think This Is Barno Tap is one of The funniest movies I've ever seen I absolutely love it, ever It is phenomenal, yep, love it Will the sequel be good? No I'm worried, I wish they weren't doing it Because I don't want to think about whether they're going to fuck it up I just love the characters so much And they've said that, sorry to disappoint you Sir Elton John will be in the movie Paul McCartney I'm being serious Paul McCartney's in the movie so they're obviously talking about what Spinal Tap meant to them I'm all in I'm so excited I love those three characters David St. Hubbins lead singer Nigel Tufnell on lead guitar and Derek Smalls the bassist Pinball Machine well we can talk about that in a second but the movie spectacular yeah I did only hear about the fact that they were doing a sequel this week and I've mentioned on this show before how I am sequel phobic music and movies as well like i just don't want it to ruin my original feelings towards the original content so it's one of these things where i'm going to be really sort of bracing myself if it gets good reviews then i'm all in if it gets bad reviews i'm just not gonna i'm not gonna watch it like wonder woman 84 i've not watched it still and it almost coming to america the sequel that It was pretty good. No, I've heard it's really bad. So I just don't want to... Are they doing a new Beverly Hills Cop movie? Yeah, episode four. That's right, Axel Foley. Why? Stop it. Don't do this. But the first and the second ones were great. Third was terrible. Why do it? Come out with new content. This is what I'm saying. All these different Star Wars things. And, you know, Star Trek also has got so many different spinoffs. Just, I want new content. It's the IP you know, and you know the universe. So, you know, you don't want the party to end, and hopefully there'll be some good crumbs that are left and maybe a new storyline. Some are massive swing and misses, but some are quite successful and take the story in a different way that you didn't see going, and you enjoy them. Unfortunately, the negative ones far outweigh the positive ones in these spinoffs and sequels and one-offs. That's the case with Marvel. That's the case with Star Wars. You hope it's not like that for Beverly Hills Cop 4. But, I mean, I don't really know how invested we are in that movie anymore. I watched Beverly Hills Cop 2 just recently again. Saw The Alphabet Crimes and Bridget Nielsen. It was okay. It was fun. It was a good movie. But I'm not dying to see Beverly Hills Cop 4 by any means. But anyway. Well, I was actually going to... Oh, my God. I was going to talk about Beverly Hills Cop being a pinball machine, but... Yeah, we should. We've run out of time. Oh, fuck. Look at that. So... We had all these things we had to talk about. I know. And it's Twippy season, and people are voting for the best pinball podcast, and we didn't mention pinball once. Sorry. We did it! We told you we would do a podcast where we didn't say fuck all about pinball. Merry Christmas. Happy holidays. Merry Christmas, you fuckers. You know, if that isn't the number one contender for pinball podcast. Ladies and gentlemen, for your consideration. Yes, absolutely. We fucking did it. And we're not even going to read the emails because there's too much pinball content in that. You're going to have to save it for the new year. If you want pinball content, I would strongly suggest when you and Ryan do it pissed, will you? When you do head-to-head, make sure you're hammered. Sure. Okay. We did have good feedback with Ryan on last week. It was a lot of fun. And, oh, I can't believe. I'm sorry. We really had so much to talk about. We had so many notes about pinball, and, oh, we just didn't get to it. Oh, what a shame. Wow. All right. Where can people contact us, Jeff?
    51:27
That's a pinballpodcast at gmail.com? Well, that's not it. Sorry. Finalroundpinball at gmail.com. I think we're on Facebook, too. Yeah, we're just, that's it. Email or Facebook, they're the best places to get us. We're old. That's the platforms that we're on. I had somebody ask when they hear our kind of discontent when we bring a guest on and just basically abuse them.
    51:55
Somebody asked me, do you even like pinball? Do you even like people? I'm like, yeah, it's all in fun. It's good ribbing. Effort might not be there. I'll give you that. Yeah, for sure. You get what you get. And we are unapologetic about it. I guess I'll talk to you in January. We'll talk about Jaws. We'll talk about... We got it out of our system. We got the non-pinball podcast out. Yay! We're done. And I've got Indus coming up. I've got Vegas where I'm not going to go. Not interested. We're not talking about this stuff. Not interested. Thanks, everybody. We'll speak to you soon. Bye.
    52:39
Are we calling this episode 100% pinball? Yes! What the fuck was that? That's supposed to be a pinball podcast. And you don't even know what the fuck you're talking about when it comes to movies. Hello. Water Worlds is the best movie of all time, you fucking losers. It's Kevin Costner at his best. That's it. I'm done. Happy holidays and fuck off!
