It's away! It's a hit! Negative. Negative. It didn't go in. Just impact it on the surface. So you get nothing! You lose! Good day, sir! Coming to you from beautiful upstate New York, this is the Slam Tilt Podcast, a show about all things pinball. I'm Ron Hallett, here with my host, Bruce Nightingale. Yeah, hello. And welcome to episode four, or as Bruce likes to say, the Jar Jar episode of the podcast. Me to say, I did not win. We will be discussing mostly replay effects and our Pinburgh experience. Yes. But first on the docket, we will talk about some news, some pinball news. Two big things happened this past weekend. First, actually today, actually yesterday, they announced the Color DMD guys now offering And now it's LED with a cheaper price of $369 instead of $399. And I'm assuming that eventually they'll have more choices for the dots right now. It's only, if I remember correctly, T3, which I know Ron's gonna be jumping out and buying right away. Oh, right away. Yes. Subtitles by the Amara.org community I have three or four of them in my own games. I'm looking forward to it. A little cheaper. Always a little better. And speaking of color kits, I was lucky enough to get one of the first MMR color kits. And I just installed it tonight on my MMR. And what do you think? Actually, let's first talk about for your, if you have a existing MMR LE, the kit is $200. If you have a regular MMR non-LE, the kit is $400. Which do you have? I don't remember. I have the LE. So you have to give them your serial number when you're purchasing it so they can confirm That you have owned an LE or a non-LE. And then you get a package in the mail, which I got a package. It was about a good pouch, about six inches by ten inches. It comes with one chip, one mini SD card, and one pick tool removal tool. That's what I got for my $200. But ease of use. Turn off the machine. Put the SD card in. Turn it back on, let it go through its boot up and go to the uploader so it brings it from whatever version you're at right now to 2.0.1. Continue with that until it's done, turn it off, take the card out, reboot it, make sure it works, turn it off, and then you have to raise the playfield up and take out one chip off the underside of the playfield and replace it with the one chip that you're sent with. Boot it back up and you have color. So ease of use. Let's say at a scale of 1 to 10, I would say easily, if you got two thumbs, you could still do this kit. I would say give it a 2. So it's really easy. I think the only thing that's even easier is replacing LEDs. Replacing LEDs. Yeah. But those are the two big things that have happened in newsworthy stuff for products coming out and people actually installing stuff on their games. Except for Pinburgh, which we'll be getting to in a few minutes. But Ron, did you do anything this weekend to your machines or anything at all? Did I do anything to my machines? This seems like a lead-in. Like maybe someone else did something to their machines. I ordered some parts to finish up the stars. Good. Because believe it or not, somehow I managed to run out of incandescent bulbs. No more 47s. I was going to say, I'm going to say I want to say thank you to the people who sent in the questions. I don't know how I let that happen. I looked there and it was like, what, they're gone? Are you kidding? I can't remember the last time I ordered any so it's been a while but that kind of threw me for a loop so I got that comment. I may do the unthinkable. I think I may try some LED lighting in the GI for the stars. It's getting a little hazy here. So I think I'm going to try it. We'll see how it looks. Especially in the back glass, I might try some. I don't mind back glasses too much because I understand some people like it. It all depends how it looks. I used... I don't know if I mentioned this in a previous podcast, but I used the Demoman as kind of my original experiment. But with the Demoman, I actually have one of the... What is it called? You know, the name of the board. The OCD. The OCD board. Actually, I just have the GI OCD board in there, and I replaced all the GI lighting, and it came out excellent. Excellent. So that's the only work I really got going on. Yeah. So with your lead in, you must have something. What's going on with you, Bruce? Yeah, so we went to Pinburgh. I came back Saturday morning, and I didn't have enough pinball. So I went downstairs and a couple days ago before we left for Pinburgh, Ron came over my house and played my games. And while he was here, the sound went wonky on the hotdoggin'. It actually went into a high pitch, didn't it? If I remember correctly. I started playing 70s porn music, I believe. Oh, well that's what the guy has, the 70s porn mustache. Yeah. Of course, that's a given. Yes. But it also started doing a high pitch sound. So, I went in digging in a little bit and being in a rush, I'm, well, here's the whole story. I didn't put, when I redid the connector for the sound problem I had months ago, I didn't have any pins to block off the one spot where you block off, you know, you place a piece of plastic in one of the holes so you cannot misconnect the connector. Known as a key pin. A key pin, yes. Well, guess what Bruce didn't do right? The He miskeyed it. And I put 43 volts into the 5-volt logic. Ooh, that doesn't sound good. Oh, no, it wasn't. I took out the CPU, the soundboard, the driver board, two displays. If you're counting score at home, $600. Ouch. Yeah. So luckily that gave me an excuse to put my LED displays in. I will use LED displays, but only certain ones. I pulled out an Alltech board, I pulled out a new driver board I had of Alltech also, and we're back up and running except for no sound. I had two spare boards and I cannot get either one working so I had my sound board sent out to one of the repair guys out there. Let's see how he does it and how he does with it. Needless to say, I am out of spare boards. And I had to steal them out of Centaur. So, yes, oh no, so, wait, poor Centaur. Yes, it happens. So, eventually, I'll have to get some shekels together and get another driver board and another solenoid board so Centaur can be back up and running. And, don't forget, I stole the CPU board out of Embryon to get Centaur. So, we're down. So, we're down two CPU boards and one driver board. So this will be a new segment called What Not to Do on Your Games. Yes, please put, so what I did actually in the time being, and I learned this trick a long time ago and I didn't do it with this. If you have nothing, put a toothpick in there and glue it in. Or just put glue over that hole so you can't push it in. That's the easiest way. I did that afterwards, after blowing up everything. Oh, it was fun. Sparks, flames, I had flame out of my soundboard. That was actually really cool. The Valley Company, Subsidiary of Walter Kidde & Co., Inc., Mirco Playfields, Tim Tim Kitzrow, Scott Danesi. The Valley Company, Subsidiary of Walter Kidde & Co., Inc., Mirco Playfields, Tim Tim Kitzrow, Scott Danesi. All the time. We did get a couple of suggestions for names. I can always use more. One was Silver Ball Saloon. So that one's not bad. I kind of like that one a little bit, except for if I did have a bar down here, it would even be better. What is the other one? What was the other one? My day is about to come in the same search process when this polarㅯ VS men's and dunk운데адillys entertain my Well, everything else, yes. Hi, Bert. I'm working on getting together the Slam Tilt Podcast YouTube channel. Woo! So, me and Bruce took some footage while we were at Replay FX slash Pinburgh this past weekend, and I'm working on editing it. And since I already have the Gmail account for the, well, our Gmail, our email, it's While пinner Hitachik'e Kaun tit semb pastry either by man EBDらい è Jsi f durante empresa Meren They are the leaders' are at but also from Russia Smegina, thatg there is there for their And you, plus you can actually check out my basement again since you didn't bring over the video camera this week. Aye, aye, aye. Kid's face. I need a new video. I got so many different games. And Ron makes a great video, so. Yeah, I've done like, I don't know, four walkthroughs with Bruce's, because the basement, his basement keeps changing. It's never, it's always different. It always is different. Always different. So, what did you do this week? This past weekend was the Replay FX show, which was at the D.L. Lawrence Center. I kept saying that wrong. I was saying D.H. Lawrence Center. D.L. Lawrence Center. Hughley. D.L. Hughley. I love that show. D.L. Lawrence Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, in actual downtown Pittsburgh. It was Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. But we're not going Thursday yet. We're going to Wednesday. We're going to Wednesday. We're going to Wednesday first because what happened Wednesday night? What happened Wednesday night? What happened Wednesday night? I was over at Bruce's house. You got it. We had... Oh, no, I wasn't. I wasn't at Bruce's house. I was at Bruce's house Tuesday night. Tuesday night. That's right. Tuesday night you were over. So we're going Tuesday. Tuesday night we had Eric Russell, one of the Central New York players who's a very highly rated, ranked player in upstate New York. And Zach. Oh, there's one of the plugs. Dun, dun, dun. John Popadiuk, Bob Betor, Keith Elwin, Laser Los, Bowen Kerins, Lyman F. Sheats Jr.., orbit ramps, Automated Amusements, Python Anghelo, Joe Kaminkow, Tim Tim Kitzrow, Scott Danesi. And you only get good points if you are beating the dealer. Yes. Which I thought was pretty neat. So some shots if you hit it and you are not beating the dealer, it's worth next to nothing. Yes. And if you're beating the dealer, you get things like bonus multiplier advance. Yes. And I just thought that was very interesting for one of the, what is that? One of their first couple? 77. Yes, it's number five in their EM style, chime unit one. So, but, uh... So, it's another one of those, like, when I, I, I try to encourage people to play, like, a lot of these, these earlier solid state games. Just don't, don't, don't be a DMD snob. No, no, never be a DMD snob. But, uh, the funny thing is, Ron got to see the firewood. Yeah, yeah, I got, I got to see the firewood. It's, it's Bally, Bally Freedom with their first solid state game. And, and if you remember from the previous podcast, he's having major switch matrix issues. The Wally Winka Show, Knapp Arcade, Bally Williams, Straight Down the Middle, Bally Williams, and there's sixteen switches and guess what none of the switches travel over to one of my problems so it's a great thing so yeah my uh... it's once in a while i get a phantom tilt off my spinner and you are looking to try to get schematics yes schematics are still don't have but i have the switch matrix So I'm going to deal with that, but with my hot-dogging blow-up thing, and I have to bring a couple games to the Buffalo Pinball Finals. Which we, do we want to discuss that now? Yeah, we can discuss that now. We had a discussion while we were at Replay FX, like what games should we bring, or should Bruce bring? And we were going to bring the older games. Yep, of course. The Valley Company, Subsidiary of Walter Kidde & Co., Inc., Mirco Playfields, Tim Tim Kitzrow, Scott Danesi. For emails, contact styling.com życiaoswitch.comatsc.com I fell in love with it there. It's going to be a good, hard game for everyone. Next game, my favorite wide body we've talked about in the past. Paragon. You got it, baby. So it's going to be Paragon and Blackjack. And what's the third one that's going to be? You know my game list. Oh, there's going to be a third one? Third. Three. Is it another wide body? Of course. Of course. Okay. Well, it ain't hot dog. You got that. John Popadiuk, Bob Betor, Keith Elwin, Laser Los, Bowen Kerins, Lyman F. Sheats Jr.., orbit ramps, Automated Amusements, Python Anghelo, Joe Kaminkow, Tim Tim Kitzrow, Digital and I'm going to show Ron right now on the internet. That is the Switch Matrix. The Freedom Switch Matrix. Yes, I'm looking at it right now, which is great for our podcast listeners. Yes, it is. You can't see it. I know, but you see how many non-switches are on here. What do you mean by non-switches? Like if you look at, I'm going to flip it over so I can actually read it. There are on the top, there's 32 switches on the top side of the switch plus there's another, they go up to 40. Uh, but, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, uh, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 26 switches are used as a switch matrix. So luckily I found this and I'm going to start going through it. John Popadiuk, Bob Betor, Keith Elwin, Laser Los, Bowen Kerins, David David Van Es, Kanyo Klyce, Kanyo Klyce, Tim Tim Kitzrow, Scott Danesi. John Popadiuk, Bob Betor, Keith Elwin, Laser Los, Bowen Kerins, Tim Tim Kitzrow, Scott Danesi. It was like just constantly... Firing. Firing. Yes. So last ditch attempt was, let's just swap switch two and three and see if it jumps to three. What would most people think? That it would either stay on the same one or it would swap over to three. And neither happens. Neither happens. What does it do? It fixed itself. It goes away. Fixed itself, which makes absolutely no sense. And when I heard that, it's like, it's got to be a diode issue. That's when we kind of... I throw up the playfield and I said, here you go! Find the diodes! Someone... you gotta get the Schematics man, I'm telling you. They probably got diodes on'em and someone just probably took them all off. No, because there's too many switches for that, there are only two wires switched. Plus, plus, plus you forget another thing. The switches only had two lugs on'em. Yes. Thank you! They don't have three lugs, they never had diodes on'em. So I... we're utterly confused. So we'll get back to Firewood, I mean Freedom. We're going to talk about the excitement that is Pinburgh slash Replay FX. So after Tuesday night, Ron left at his own time, played a lot of blackjack I heard after I left for work. Yes, I played blackjack Wednesday morning and then me and my father drove down to Pittsburgh, which stayed at the Westin, which is right across from the convention center. The Valley Company, Subsidiary of Walter Kidde & Co., Inc., Mirco Playfields, Tim Tim Kitzrow, Scott Danesi. The Valley Company, Subsidiary of Walter Kidde & Co., Inc., Mirco Playfields, Tim Tim Kitzrow, Scott Danesi. The Wally Winka Show, Knapp Arcade, Bally Williams, Straight Down the Middle, Bally Williams, The Wally Winka Show Knapp Arcade Wally Winka Podcast The Wally Winka Show Knapp Arcade Wally Winka Podcast and drinks and snacks and everything else so i actually like it a lot yeah i i would advise if anyone goes to the show don bother eating in the the actual show area The stuff is all overpriced and it terrible Oh, except for the pretzels. The pretzels were good. They sell like you know soda for $3.50. You could walk out of the convention center where the parking garage is. There's a vending machine right there and it's two dollars For a bottle of soda. Winner! Yeah. So. So. So. Thursday morning. Thursday morning. Yes. So it's replay effects. It's a whole show. It's very, I would say it's like kind of an East Coast equivalent to California Extreme. Yes. And I think that's kind of what they're going for. It's a mix of video games and pinball and console games and they got, you know, cosplay stuff. Oh my. All that kind of stuff going on. So, the Pinburgh tournament, match play tournament, started at 10 a.m.? Yes, it did, with 685 people. The funny thing was, I think they had like 30 no-shows. So, some people who came there and paid lucked out, including Sean Grant, actually, lucked out, and a couple other people did also. We did miss a couple of New Yorkers. Howard Levine did not make it. Bad Howard. Yeah, he was saying, like, I decided to go to work. That was a horrible decision. Fun time now. Great time. So, let's get into it. I'm just going to go through. There's ten sessions. Ten sessions. You play four games against three other people. Yes, sir. The scoring is basically if you win all four games, you get 12 points. Yes, sir. You get a point for each person you beat. So the most you can do per game is three. Yes, sir. Three and 0. You don't want to take zeros, which I can say I think I took more zeros in this Pinburgh than probably most of the other Pinburghs combined. I can agree with that. That gives you an idea of how wonderful my Pinburgh was. So my first round, and what they do is each group of games has these bizarre names. So my first set was on Cepheus, which was Tales of the Arabian Nights, Gay 90s, Last Action Hero, and Frontier. And in that particular round... What rank were you seated at? I was seated at 160. Okay. And I started off hot with a good 9-in-3 result there. Nice job. My first round was on Ares. And Ares was Terminator 3, Captain Fantastic, Atlantis, and the Gottlieb Incredible Hulk. And I started out very fast. The Valley Company, Subsidiary of Walter Kidde & Co., Inc., Mirco Playfields, Tim Tim Kitzrow, Scott Danesi. Round 2. What was your games for round 2 and what was your ranking when you started that round? Well, my ranking for round 2 was 60, 60 seed. Very nice. The set name was Vela, Vela, I don't know, V-E-L-A, I have no idea how you're supposed to say that. It was on the stage. They had a... Oh, so you were on the stage. The Valley Company, Subsidiary of Walter Kidde & Co., Inc., Mirco Playfields, Tim Tim Kitzrow, Scott Danesi. The Wally Winka Show, Knapp Arcade, Bally Williams, Straight Down the Middle, Bally Williams, Watched it. He came back with two power balls on the last ball. So I'm taking, you know, good first two rounds. Great first two rounds. I'm feeling good, but reality's about to set in. No. Well, my second round was on set one, actually, Pisces, which was Avengers LE, Aquarius, one player game, Addams Family, and Haunted House. The Valley Company, Subsidiary of Walter Kidde & Co., Inc., Mirco Playfields, Tim Tim Kitzrow, Scott Danesi. John Popadiuk, Bob Betor, Keith Elwin, Laser Los, Bowen Kerins, Lin, Lennon & Co., Inc., Tim Tim Kitzrow, Scott Danesi. I was playing... And what seed were you? What seed were you? I was 53rd. 53. Okay. So, and in this round, I was playing former Pinburgh champion Adam Becker and former world champion Kaley George. So this is the first real test and I'd like to think I failed but moderately failed. I had a losing record but I wasn't like 2 in 10 or anything. I believe I took zeroes the first two matches, of course. Okay. And then I came back on, it was, well, Medusa. I think it was last going into my last ball, and I came back and passed everybody and won that. And then in Sopranos, I finished second. So I beat Adam and Kaylee, and then the next one I beat Kaylee. Nice job. So I did it in, so it's five and seven, so I figured, you know, bleeding a little bit, but not, not too bad, not too bad. I'm hanging in there. There you go. My third round was, unfortunately, I faced one of our Upstate New York fellow players, Tim Sexton. What do you mean, unfortunately? It's a great thing. Oh, it's a great thing until you don't want to take somebody out or he takes me out, you know, so you kind of want to take other people out. Well, we played the group set 43, which was Cygnus, and my ranking before coming into this was 23. So, not getting cocky, getting nervous more, because I know I'm going to play more really good players. And I'm now stuck with NBA Stern, high-low ace, Diner, and then the Gottlieb classic turd of all freaking pop-upper turds. The Valley Company, Subsidiary of Walter Kidde & Co., Inc., Mirco Playfields, Tim Tim Kitzrow, Scott Danesi. 0 on NBA, a 1 on high-low, a 2 on diner, and I actually got a 2 on ready-aim fire. So, I didn't do too bad on that, but I was bleeding out with a 5, and Timmy actually got a 4. So, we both got pretty beat up on there, but we took our licks and... Kept on ticking? Kept on ticking. I did one of these for Valentine! Um, cookie, was it cookie, um... Cookie sundae. Yeah, chocolate chip cookie sundae. Yeah, chocolate chip cookie sundae, which I didn't finish. I was disappointed in myself. I had a rematch the next day, but... Yeah, because you had a shake the first day. Yeah, I had a shake, so I had a, yeah, this is my diet. You know, hamburger, fries, chocolate shake, and then this cookie sundae. No, but no, no, no, no, no, no, no. You don't say it right. When Ron gets a hamburger, there's no condiments on it. There's no lettuce, tomato, onion, nothing. Just a plain hamburger. And when Ron gets the plain hamburger, all he puts on it is ketchup. And what's the problem? There's no problem with that. No, there's no problem with that, but most people are not used to that. And when you tell a waitress or a waiter that menu, they kind of look at you a little weird. Yeah, they get confused and it's like, so just lettuce and tomato? No, no, no lettuce, no tomato, nothing. Just burger and the bun, burger and the bun. Okay. Booga and the Bun. So, round four. Round four. Okay, here's... Okay, I'm ranked 133 at this point. I'm on a lot of set called Columbia, which this one I remember pretty well, because we have Walking Dead, Zig Zag, Super Sonic, and one of our favorites from the Pintastic podcast, Jokers. Jokers, woo! I actually get a text from Ron while we're playing. Yeah. Jokers, do you believe it? I said fucking jokers is what I said. So we start off on zigzag. It's like, you know, it's an old EM and, you know, a five ball game. Well, hold on, before you do anything else, when you actually are the top group in these groups, you start out on the EM. So the problem with that is if you have a really bad EM game, you're kind of in the behind a little bit. Like if you're in the middle group, there's three groups on each four machines. The A group or the higher group always takes the EM first. The second group takes always the solid state, early solid state. The next group always takes, the lower group always takes the DMD newer first. FRANK PICHTZ, Knapp Arcade Chart Show. I got to hit the ball plenty for one of these games. I think it was one of those two-inch flipper games. I hit like every time there was a lit lane or something, I plunged it right in the lit lane. I hit stuff that was lit, and I thought I had a good game. But when the score, when it was all over, I ended up last. So I was kind of like, really? Because usually when you end up last in one of these, you end up with, you know, three or five balls or house balls. You don't get to hit anything. But that was weird. The Valley Company, Subsidiary of Walter Kidde & Co., Inc., Mirco Playfields, Tim Tim Kitzrow, Scott Danesi. John Popadiuk, Bob Betor, Keith Elwin, Laser Los, Bowen Kerins, Danny Klyce, Kanyo Klyce, I'm like, okay, probably whatever I hit is going to be the mode. And then I hit the ramp because I figured that's the easiest thing to hit. And then I hit it like, you know, 10 times. So that went pretty good. Had a killer multiball. I kept that going for jackpots big time, all over the place. And then I think on my last ball, I had a bloodbath lit, which I believe is good. Very good. A good thing. And of course, drained with it flashing at me, you know, just, but I ended up winning that. 0's and then 2 3's. So I kind of recover but still you don't want to take the 0's. They hurt more than anything. They do hurt. They do hurt. So I end up with you know 500 record at 6 and 6 for that round. At 6. For round 4 for you. And what was your round? My round was actually called PAVO. And this was the make or break for me actually this round. This was Lord of the Rings, Grand Prix Williams, Genesis, and Nitro Ground Shaker. So we start off in Grand Prix. First ball, great. I got 140,000, feeling good. Let's just say by ball five, my score's at 160,000. I had three house balls. So I'm in last. I'm at 160,000. These guys are all 400,000. Last ball, came back and smoked the bitches, man. I got 875,000. The Valley Company, Subsidiary of Walter Kidde & Co., Inc., Mirco Playfields, Tim Tim Kitzrow, Scott Danesi. Transcription by CastingWords I was going to get an A. The last couple of years I ended up in A. Usually I'd be within a couple of points of qualifying and not qualifying. Usually. The last couple of years it's been a similar pattern. Okay. So I decided to change the pattern. Stand back. Stand back here. This year, no, no, I can't do that. So our next set was called, I don't even know how to, GINA, G-I-E-N-A-H. No idea. The Valley Company, Subsidiary of Walter Kidde & Co., Inc., Mirco Playfields, Tim Tim Kitzrow, Scott Danesi. The Valley Company, Subsidiary of Walter Kidde & Co., Inc., Mirco Playfields, Tim Tim Kitzrow, Scott Danesi. I have multiball lit. I have the third lock is ready. If you ever play Kansas Canyon... Just gotta get into the gobble hole. Yeah, the third, the multiball, the lock shot is the mine. And when you plunge the ball, it literally comes right to your right flipper, just like... You couldn't ask for a better fee to just shoot the shot. It just lobs it to you. It lobs it to you. It's the ultimate softball. So, of course, I plunge, miss the shot by probably as little as you can make. I mean, the way it rattled out, and it drains, and that's it. No ball saves. Done. So that really sucked because if I just could have got the multiball started, I probably actually could have won that game. Instead of getting a zero, I could have had a three. With the cosmic gunfight, I would have had a four. You would have had a five. Yeah, you're right. What am I saying? Yeah, I would have had the five, which was a lot better than the two and ten that I got, which pretty much killed it. So instead of being an A, I end up in B. B, but middle of B. Middle of B. Okay, so you can work with that. Well, I can work with that. Yes. How's you do, Bruce? Well, this is the first time I get to play with the big boys. So I get my fifth ranking. The big boys? So you played with Todd McCulloch? It was like seven for one. No, not that big. Not that big? But not that big. We played Ursa, set 23. My ranking right now coming into this one is, hold on, 24. So I'm kind of saying to myself, unless I really hand grenade this and go zero and 12, I'm going to make A for the first time in five years. So feeling good. Who do I see on my list? Zach Sharp. So I go up to say hi to Zach. Josh is with him. Josh comes over and he's like, hey, Bruce. He starts talking about the podcast. Oh my God. He's listened to the podcast and so has Zach. Zach has actually listened to the podcast and talked about the video I posted from the Pintastic show from me and Lyman playing. He said I did pretty good. I, you know, I, I, he was really proud. So we had to play some games together. We hung out most of the time together. We actually had a, Zach wasn't the highest seed person we were in. Alex Tata, who was ranked 8th in the seating, and then we had Matthew Peterson, who was ranked 25th. So you see how the rankings come closer further into the day. And we played Starship Troopers, Argosy, Bram Stoker's Dracula, and Algar. Algar. Which is, as you'll hear later, I played the same group later on. And I thought actually, the two machines played great. The two machines I wanted to shoot and freakin' put out the curb. So we go to Argosy first. I beat Zach Sharp by 5000 points to finish the game. 895 to 890,000 points. Winner! Three points. Winner! If I can take one game, I'm good. Bram Stoker's Dracula. Six million for me. Six million! Wow. The futility. All these guys all got billions. I had six million. And they actually made it a little easier because they had, and I don't know why they, this is like the second term I've seen this, they disabled the mismatch. Yes, so it just comes out automatically. So it just, like you hit the hole, boom, multiball starts. I don't know why that's done, but... I could not hit anything, so I got to pick last on Algar. The Valley Company Subsidiary of Walter Kidde Co Inc Mirco Playfields Tim Tim Kitzrow Scott Danesi heading into starship troopers now Vance owned two starship troopers I played it a lot Vance another fellow Rochesterite yes uh oh my god I got killed got zero on that so that was my second zero in that match came out with a five, Zach got a six, he came back he was down three, he only had three points going into that last game took it on starship troopers on the orbit multiball with Josh watching and his father watching, Roger. So it was actually, I had all three sharps watching. We were all watching Zach play, so it was kind of cool. And I came out of there with a five. The winner of the group, which was Alex, took a seven. So evenly split. So that brought me to a final of... Of? I ended up that day seated 50th. Sorry, not even 50th. Sorry, 52 for the next day. Here's a story. This is how, you know you've been around the pinball scene too long. I'm playing a game and in my peripheral vision I could see a guy next to me. I see he's got like a grazed beard. I see he's got like a backpack. And I'm thinking like, that's Roger Sharp. I just turn over and yep, it was Roger Sharp. And it's just sad when you just know who people are just by peripheral vision. Barely see them. So I ended up in B and then we got Bruce in A. I made A for the first time in five years. I'm very happy. We all get a good night's sleep. Yeah, we get a good night's sleep and then we begin the torture again at 10 AM the next morning. I mean the fun at 10 AM the next morning. It's fun. It's fun. So what bank was your first bank? So the first bank I had was called Cor-Car-Oli, C-A-R-O-L-I. I have no idea. Okay, where the fuck are they coming from? I don't know, I don't know, but the games were Game of Thrones, Time Zone, Fun House, and Six Million Dollar Man, which... We talked about Six Million Dollar Man. Yeah, I think we talked about my hatred for Six Million Dollar Man. Well, Six Million Dollar Man said, oh, you hate me, huh? Well, fuck you. That's basically what it told me. The first game we played was Six Million Dollar Man. And I took a zero. I just hit absolutely nothing. Mr. Bally is not happy. Terrible. So this was the first Bally I did not excel on. It was typical. Six Million Dollar Man. Crap. So the next game we played was Game of Thrones, which I had another situation. I was way behind. I went through one multiball where I didn't hit anything. So the third ball, I don't really know the rule set that much. I picked Martel because it has the add a ball thing. That's another issue. Just the knowledge of some of these newer games is quite poor. But I know the multiball. So I had, so the third ball, I need three locks and it's like, I'm way behind. I'm just going for it. I go for the lock targets. I make a bunch of, Probably some of the best saves I made for the whole tournament. Get the multiball started, get through, get all the jackpots, and right as I get the last one, I get one super, I drain, so I'm down to one ball, I get one more super, and I end up draining out and end up second. If I just could have kept it in play and got a couple more supers, I had it. I would have had it first, but instead I get a second. So then we play Time Zone. Time Zone. Yeah, I'm trying to remember, what did I get on that? Well, looking at my overall record, I assume I sucked on that. Excellent. And then we played Fun House where I got where I wanted. I got the multiball ready and could not hit Rudy on the last ball. I got two shots at him. You couldn't get your balls in his mouth? I couldn't get my balls in his mouth. The Valley Company, Subsidiary of Walter Kidde & Co., Inc., Mirco Playfields, Tim Tim Kitzrow, Scott Danesi. The Willy Wonka Show, Knapp Arcade, Bally Williams, Straight Down the Middle, Bally Williams, I actually got to play against some really good players. I finally got to meet Kevin Burrell for the first time. So Kevin Burrell, if you don't know who he is, he was the fourth, he finished fourth last year in Pinburgh. So got to play him, Colin Urban, and Todd Williams. They were all really good players. And we were on the Vuvucula. That was the name of the group? Yeah, whatever. Think about Kevin Burrell, he's one of the few guys hairier than me. Yes, that is hard. Which is tough to do. I'm mostly Italian, so I'm a pretty hairy dude, but he's got me there. So we're playing X-Men, Space Race, Judge Dredd, and Quicksilver. Space Race. Quicksilver, yes. Space Race. Big ol' goose egg right at the beginning. Missed out by one point by 50 points. One more switch. The Judge Dredd Big ol' goose egg. So now, don't forget this is my first two matches. Goose egg. I think that's what it... No, sorry, I got a one in Judge Dredd. Sorry, I got a one in Judge Dredd. There you go. So I did get one. Quicksilver. Last ball, I'm behind everyone. Came back and took the freakin' lead and took three points. So you came from behind. I came from behind. I did not have to come in the mouth, I had to come from behind. Remember To trends. No, stop out there. Assessments in the next round, we'll do everything from 6… One minute before initialitzing, Zeke Cooley throws out the first ball from the inside and catches it off to the rightclick position. Because that should get through to the 19th' of July… Than to the first off6. On Venus. Venus, yes. I'm looking at my record, so I guess the shit didn't totally start. You know, it's not quite as bad as I thought. Am I looking at your record? No, I'm looking at mine. Okay, so... What were you ranked at? Where am I? I'm kinda getting confused on which thing I'm looking at here. It should be session seven. Yeah, session seven, so yes, I'm on... Okay, so I'm on Venus, or no, I'm not on Venus, what am I saying? Uh, I think I did, did I do seven already? No, you did not. Okay, so I'm looking at the wrong one. Yeah, alright, that makes sense. Okay, so I was on Iron Man, Doodle Bug, Oh, that's right, you were right next to me. This is the one that Ron was right next to me. Yes, Police Force, and one of the final games from last year's Pinburgh, the immortal Super Orbit. The Valley Company, Subsidiary of Walter Kidde & Co., Inc., Mirco Playfields, Tim Tim Kitzrow, Scott Danesi. The Valley Company, Subsidiary of Walter Kidde & Co., Inc., Mirco Playfields, Tim Tim Kitzrow, Scott Danesi. Someone I know who is basically telling me just how to play it, which is it's got like these targets like one, two, three, four, and I think five that are just like in the, just right in front of you. And it's like just hit those targets, ignore all the crap at the top of the playfield, just go for the targets. And it has like this ball in the middle that's underneath the playfield, kind of like fireball too, and it bounces up and down. The Valley Company, Subsidiary of Walter Kidde & Co., Inc., Mirco Playfields, Tim Tim Kitzrow, Scott Danesi. The group of Beetlejuice, which was Transformers Pro, high hand, motor dome, and uh, skateboard. High hand, zero points. Yay! Yay! Uh, missed out by like a thousand points for any points, really pissed off. Uh, motor dome, I got a one, one point. Skateball, I own skateball. I'm thinking, yeah, got this in the hand. Uno, first bally I really bombed on the whole time. So, came down to Transformers Pro. Luckily, I know the rules like the back of my hand and crushed it. Got three points, so ended up with five and seven on that round. I was seated 50th. And I was getting a little tired at this point. And... Tired? You should be full of energy. No. No? Nope. So, we are going down to round eight. Ron, you're starting at CDAT. Round eight, I was on Sagittarius. Ooh, Sagittarius. Another one I can actually... I ended up playing Iron Man again. So, another Iron Man. Which is funny, the first Iron Man I played had no ball save. This one had a ball save. So Prospector, which is a Sonic EM, which I ended up really liking. I came back to that later on. Fun game. Yeah, that is an excellent game. Stargate, Hit the Pyramid. Hit the Pyramid. Hit the Pyramid. Hit the Pyramid. Hit the skill shot. Yeah. And Xenon. Okay. So I ended up... See, I'm getting hazy now because... Now, this is when I started getting really inconsistent. After doing seven and five that round, last round, I went five and The Valley Company, Subsidiary of Walter Kidde & Co., Inc., Mirco Playfields, Tim Tim Kitzrow, Scott Danesi. But you're still in the game. Still in the game. I had the group Libra. My ranking was 72. And a couple of old friends came back to say hi to me. I got to play Lyman again. Came up to me very friendly, very happy. We were talking the whole time. And Chris Baser also came by and Matthew Clark. I know all of these guys by seeing them on the shows. They're all class players. The Valley Company, Subsidiary of Walter Kidde & Co., Inc., Mirco Playfields, Tim Tim Kitzrow, Scott Danesi. Banzai Run, Goose Egg, Harlem Globetrotters. Now, this is my fun story of the night. I didn't, I was watching it. Lyman Sheets' first ball, house ball, gets 4,000 points. Second ball gets 890,000 points. Third ball gets another house ball. Ends up with 940. I get nothing. Nothing. Nothing. You get nothing. Yes. And then on Elvis, I get a one. Thank you. Thank you very much. Thank you very much. So I got... and my flipper died on Elvis, the upper flipper. But it only happened once to somebody, so it was a minor malfunction. Minor malfunction. Malfunction. Malfunction. Oh, malfunction. And I only got two points. So my ranking went from 72 to 112 for the next round. You went from hit to shit. Hit to shit. The Next Round We Went To Dinner So Um Try To Remember Himself He Had His Uh His Burger With Uh The Uh Shake And Everything Like That Well I Didn't Have A Shake I Had The Burger And I Didn't Have The Shake To Make Sure I Could Finish The Cookie Sunday This Time I Had My Rematch With The Cookie Sunday And I Was Victorious I Had A Beer So That We'll be right back. We'll be right back. Robocop, Evil Knievel Then we go over the No Fear, and we became just the jump ramp show. Oh, that's what it all is. That's all it was for everyone. Yeah, I ended up second or third in that one. Then we played Slick Chick. I killed Slick Chick. I had like 1,700, which was by... People at home, people at home, he did not actually kill the Slick Chick. No, I didn't kill Slick Chick. I killed the game Slick Chick. I had like 1700 and I was just like two targets just like don't hit certain things and hit other targets and pray and just had a good game. Then we played Robocop which died instantly like the first ball, first guy playing it actually was Nick Lane of the Bro Do You Even Talk Pinball. Bro Do You Even Talk Pinball, Bro Do You Even Play Pinball. The left flipper just died on him. Like, literally, the first time he went to flip, dead. So, we go over to our alternate game, which was roller games. Another game I own. And one of my favorite games. So, I'm like, okay. Like, I think even one of the high scores on it was, like, probably one of mine from, like, playing it previously. The Valley Company, Subsidiary of Walter Kidde & Co., Inc., Mirco Playfields, Tim Tim Kitzrow, Scott Danesi. And at first, he had like $22 million. He killed it. He ended up, I think, with a high. He had the grand champion score on it. But somehow I took second on that. I have no idea how I got second. I did not deserve it. So sometimes you don't deserve what you get. I did not deserve to be... So what seed were you at? I was seven and I was 134 seed, end up seven and five. Okay. So... Moving on up. Yeah. But at this time, you know, my record is hovering around 500, actually below 500. And after that round, I needed like a 10-2 or an 11-1. So at this point, I know I have no chance. So for the final round, I'm just trying to get over 500 for Pinburgh. Of course. So session nine for me was I was with Greg Pavarelli. We've mentioned him on the previous podcast. Yes, we have. He is actually ranked 40th in the world. He is one of the New York City guys. Great guy. I love hanging out with him. And we played Arrrrga. That was the name of the group and it's Pirates of the Caribbean, Stratoflight, Whitewater, and Flash Gordon. So this right here is saying, oh fuck, because I've owned or owned three out of four of these machines. So right now I'm thinking, here comes my Owen 12. I've never done an M pinball before, but I'm going for the Owen 12. The Valley Company, Subsidiary of Walter Kidde & Co., Inc., Mirco Playfields, Tim Tim Kitzrow, Scott Danesi. 2 out of 3 house balls on Flash Gordon. Luckily, I was second and I saw what he was doing kind of wrong but I couldn't recover it. I only got one point out of it. He got none out of that one. So we go to Pirates. Arrr. Arrrr. I crushed it. Took the win on that one and poor Greg, he got one million on Pirates. He was ready to throw the machine halfway down the friggin' hall if he could've. I luckily got $37 million, took the win, and came out of there with a 6-6. And so did Greg came out of there with a 6-6. I was ranked 112th before this, and I moved up to 1-1-1 for the next round. So what record did you think you would need the last round to get in? Oh, I needed a 12-0, which I wasn't going to get. Not even close. I'm done. I am out of it. So you're figuring you're done. So we go to the last round. This time it's just for pride. I'm playing on Ursa, which was the same bank Bruce played on earlier with Starship Troopers, Argosy, Dracula, and Algar. So we start on Algar. That game is such a turd. Oh, I like Algar. Keep it up top. Keep it up top. You ignore that stupid pachinko thing on the side. You keep it up top, you get the bonus multipliers, and you keep on going. Tim Tim Kitzrow, Scott Danesi, Sons of the Yeah, I just, just. You didn't do that. I sucked ass on that. Okay. I think, I think I got a three or two or three somehow. I didn't end up last. Then we go to Argosy. Great game. And I think I took first on that. I hit the, the, play Argosy. There is a very important center lane. It kind of sits by itself. You want to get through. Which opens the gate. Yeah, it opens the gate. And gives you something else too. 10,000 points. 10,000 points. And lights the outline gate for another pointage also. So I, that's one of those, when you get the right plunge early, I plunged the lane four out of the five balls. Like the four balls, two through five in a row, right in each time. So then we played, I'm trying to remember what we, I think we did Starship Troopers next. The Valley Company Subsidiary of Walter Kidde Co Inc Mirco Playfields Tim Tim Kitzrow Scott Danesi We troopers Thank God for the Sega slash Data East automatic multiball lit on the third ball deal You got it baby Because I had absolutely nothing Got multiball started got a bunch of jackpots had a good multiball ended up pulling out I think a second two out of that Just, ugh. That was just painful. So what was your final scoreboard on that one? Oh, that's right. You still have one more. I played Dracula. I think I won that. I ended up with an 8-4. So I ended up at 61-59 and got over 500, so I was very happy with that. Pulled out some pride. There you go. Off Grand Risine 2021 Wizard, Dr. Dude, and Power Play. WrestleMania! So Wizard, Jeff blew out to 100, he got 100, he rolled it on the first ball. Wizard, first ball he got 105,000. I almost caught him, I was at, towards the last ball, he had 190, I finished with 180. And the third place was coming up on me, he finished with 150. Now you think 180 wants 90? You think you got it in hand? Boy, I was sweating bullets on that one, but I got a two on that one. Dr. Dude, I got me a one, so I was with three points. Power play. No, sorry, Dr. Dude, I got zero. That was my last zero. Sorry. So you were not a cool dude. No, I was not a cool dude. So I had two going after the second game. Power play. I crushed, came back, and took that one. Got three points on that. So the final game of the night for me is Legends of WrestleMania. Now I know many people go, uh, WrestleMania? I actually, here's a bad thing. Buffalo at Pocketeer, where the tournament's going to be in two weeks, when we were playing team league, we actually have a team league and I'm part of one of the teams, every player who I go against, every time they get a chance, would go WrestleMania against me. So I struggled in the beginning, didn't know the rules or anything. So finally one day I just spent the whole afternoon there, just played that for 20 games. Got the hang of it. That helped me out so much in this game. I crushed it. I got $125 million on it. Good final finish. Got an 8-4 and finished in 89th place for the whole tournament. And you became the WWE World Heavyweight Champion. Nope, didn't even get my name up. Plenty of time spent together variety- Syria- pierwsze vida, zelha- Three single songs És duений个 We go over Hobbit a little bit. But you don't see is Bruce Nightingale beating the world champion of karate champ. systematic programming tissues files We have to put that in there? Yes. Oh, God, no, I wanted to cut that out. So, now, as far as some of our other upstate brethren, we had, give a shout out to Jerry Bernard of the Orange County Pinball Club. He got an A. He got in the A playoffs. He was up on the stage. Yep. Tim Tim Kitzrow, Scott Danesi, Tim Tim Kitzrow, Scott Danesi, Subsidiary of Walter Kidde & Co., Inc., Mirco Playfields, Tim Tim Kitzrow, Scott Danesi. Chief proceder for More Web The winner... Of course, to absolutely surprise of no one, Keith Elwin, who I think was a man on a mission. If you look at his record, his record like the first day was like 10-2, 9-3, 11-1, 11-1. And then the next day was like 10-2, 10-2, 9-3. It was like ridiculous. I was really shooting, I was really rooting for Josh. I thought he was going to get away with it when he was playing, uh, what was the last, they were playing Paragon. And he got that great last ball, and then Robert Gagno came back, passed him, and took a point away. With some of the most ridiculous, like, he's doing, like, he's doing tap passing, but he was doing rolling tap passing. Rolling tap passing. Like, like other kinds of tap, it was, it was. So I hate to say, I was really rooting for Josh, and he got boned, and then he got to the EM and just got boned. All right, I'm going to say it like I saw it. He got screwed. So that was at the final four. Well, we did the final four. It was Keith Elwin in first. Yes. Then Karl Karl DeAngelo in second. Yes. Who just killed Alien Star. Yes, he did. Chris Stevens in third. And Chris Stevens third. And Raymond Davidson in fourth. And I believe Raymond Davidson was in the final four last year. And I think Keith Elwin was in the final four last year. Yes. Yes, they were. So who won last year? I'm trying to remember. It was Zach. That's right. How do I not remember that? Nope. I forget congratulating him and I can't even remember that. So that and also you'll see in the video that will be on the YouTube channel more of the actual replay effects show. There was, they said there was lots of video games there. There was the console section, which I thought was, I love the console section. Best, Best Best Counseling agency in the Under 20 Korean sense lol Denys Ticci Yup I love your interview You brush my teeth Tell me to put in theeth It's a very, very cool game. Played punch out, which I didn't realize there was a second Nintendo NES punch out because I only played the Mike Tyson's punch out. This one just said punch out, but it was the same game and I was like, that's weird. But it had two copyright dates on it, like 1987 and then 1990. And I'm there like, I'm wondering if Tyson is not at the end of this one. And he wasn't. They had some other fighter who was the Dream Fight called Mr. Dream. The Mr. Dream. The least original name ever, but it's Mike Tyson. I mean, he's like a white Mike Tyson. It's the exact same, if you played Mike Tyson's punch out, it was Mike Tyson at the end. Yes. So it took me three, because I'm old, it took me a while to get my reaction time up there, but I did beat him on the third try. So I was happy to do that. They had bands playing there at night. Yes. It was interesting. John Popadiuk, Bob Betor, Keith Elwin, Laser Los, Bowen Kerins, Larry K. Sheats Jr., What's his name? Pinball Star came out and brought a lot of games. He brought Rob Zombie, he brought AMH, he brought a lot of Hobbits and Wizard of Oz's. Cointaker was there again with the two... The game with the longest line by far, the whole show. Yes, it was always a line. Big Lebowski. He also brought a couple of Metallicas and a couple of other games. I thought the vendors, those two were the biggest ones that were the most busiest. A lot of the other vendors, eh. Eh. I didn't even really know. I wasn't really looking at the vendors. Yeah, that's been a problem. It was more of a player show than a vendor show. It was hoping for one vendor maybe bringing boards or that kind of stuff. Nope. Nothing. It's been a little weak. If you remember my Ghost Buster story, I've only played Ghost Buster three times. Well, they had a Ghostbusters there that they just unboxed, and it was in the tournament. And then they were using it for the D-finals. And usually when the finals are done, they turn, like, all the games are on, and so you can just play them. So I was kind of waiting for the end of D-finals. And sure enough, when D-finals were over, I saw, like, you know, a line of people playing the Ghostbusters. And it's like, oh, go back later and play it. John Popadiuk, Bob Betor, Keith Elwin, Laser Los, Bowen Kerins, Tanyo Klyce, Kanyo Klyce, Damn, I still didn't get to play this stupid game! I'm betting and I never get to play it! You're better off. Oh, come on. You're better off. I can't wait for my premium, can't wait. Okay, you can, yeah, I will be there to open that one up, I hope. Okay. I hope you do invite me out, cause here's the funny thing about Ron. When I open box games, I invite everyone out. Ron, how many unboxings have I been of yours? None, I don't think. Oh, yeah. I usually unbox them either by myself or if my neighbor's there. I had him help me take it downstairs. I got like a stair climbing or stair descending, in this case, hand truck. So yeah, I just don't know. I just don't make it a really big thing. Even with the Spider-Man, my first new unboxed game was just me and my dad unboxed it. Well, hopefully you'll invite your co-host now. So to end this rather lengthy podcast… No, we still got more, sir. We still got more, well, am I going to get into the Hillary story? I wanted to save that for last. Well, no, okay, well, I got to do a couple things. I got to pay the bills. You got to pay the bills? You got to pay the bills. Okay, okay. Pay the bills. The Valley Company, Subsidiary of Walter Kidde & Co., Inc., Mirco Playfields, Tim Tim Kitzrow, Scott Danesi. New York Freak Pinball Tournament. This one is actually free. Only cost a coin drop. Top winner takes home a nice Starbucks gift card. Caricature. Yeah, whatever. Bite me, Ron. Bite me. Talk better. So I think there was, I heard in Pittsburgh there was some lady came out there, kind of a little crackpot. Yeah, it was some lady that came out there. I heard there was two presidential hopefuls out in Pittsburgh. Two? Two! Oh, yes, that's right, that's right, that's right, that's right. So, a little background. The D.L. Lawrence Center is huge. I mean, it's the main convention center in Pittsburgh, and Replay FX took up like one half of it. Even with the four acres and the two huge rooms they took up, it was still half of the convention center. And it's it's split in a way that like the entrance for the one side is on one side of us of a road. And then on the other side of the street is the entrance for the other half and it just so happens that after getting the nomination Democratic nomination for the Democratic nominee for president Hillary Clinton went on some kind of like I'm speaking for st点 she did it at The Valley Company, Subsidiary of Walter Kidde & Co., Inc., Mirco Playfields, Tim Tim Kitzrow, Scott Danesi. J I know he'd get my vote. You'd get my vote in a second too because both of these guys are freaking jokers. I'd rather have a monkey. I'd rather have a monkey. But so the line started like in the morning and I think she had, I heard over 7,000 people went there. Now I left at 1. Yes. You're supposed to be there at 5. People were outside. I couldn't even get out of the place for 30 minutes. John Popadiuk, Bob Betor, Keith Elwin, Laser Los, Bowen Kerins, Lyman F. Sheats Jr.., orbit ramps, Automated Amusements, Python Anghelo, Joe Kaminkow, Tim Tim Kitzrow, Scott Danesi. John Popadiuk went to burn a flag, American flag, and some like 70-year-old jumped on him. And then the cops came over, and one of our fellow Upstaters, actually Jerry, who was in the A Division playoffs, he witnessed all this. I just noticed on my Facebook feed, the video of it just came out, was out there. Oh, really? And I actually could see the incident, and I could see Jerry in the background witnessing this. Like, oh, there it is. This must have been what he was talking about. The other interesting thing that happened was my father told me after Hillary spoke, my father was hanging out at the bar at Bill's Burgers in the Westin when who comes walking in but Mark Cuban, the owner of the Dallas Mavericks. We went around with her and supported her. Yes, with his entourage and they just got a table and had some food there. Tim Pimentel, Jarvis traditions, Aaron Sayers, Tim Badgey, Robert Bubba, K разге, Josh Brobe, Jay Kaga, Juan Ruiz, Yeah, we, we truly had the real famous people were there, yeah. We did, we did. Yeah, so um. And you could see some of these famous people too in two weeks in Buffalo. affect To our link, well, we'll be on iTunes. I have a YouTube channel. You just search for Slam Tilt Pinball. It should come up. I'm busy trying to get this stupid friggin' artwork on it. You would think just putting a banner on a YouTube page would be simple. I spruited it for 40 minutes because it wants a certain size. It's a very bad mood. Don't even want to get into that. But, yeah, yeah. So, I'm working on that. I hope to have that all up. We're recording this on a Tuesday. Hopefully, it will be up by Thursday or Friday. We shall see. Palette The demands that the I mean, I actually had to wait to get on machines, some machines on Saturday, which didn't have to do at all last year on Saturday. So that was nice to see. So I like to try to do this smoothly here. I'd like to thank everyone for listening to the Slam Tilt Podcast. We are on iTunes. Search for us, Slam Tilt Podcast. Don't forget us on Facebook.
