Thanks again, buddy. You're the best. Hey, flippers. Welcome to Pinball Pursuit. I'm Mrs. J. And I'm Dr. C. Today we're doing something a little bit different because this Jaws pinball tutorial isn't about hunting the shark. Because this time you are the shark. That's right, we're going to go over how to play Jaws the Revenge, a mode based on the totally unnecessary and quite terrible Jaws sequel. This time you'll be motivated by vague shark justice and questionable plot choices to chomp your way through people, fishermen, and of course bounty hunters on your way to a high score. Have you ever seen Jaws the Revenge? No, I haven't. I didn't even know that it existed until this game. Uh, yeah, it's probably better that you don't. I kind of want to watch it now. All our other Jaws with Tutorials go over the playfield, the main modes, the side modes, the multiballs, the gear, everything. If you haven't seen those, we'll link them in the description below. In this tutorial, we're just going to go over the special Jaws the Revenge mode. In order to play Jaws the Revenge, you first have to do a few things. First, you'll need to have to have a Stern Insider connected account. We are big fans of Stern's Insider Connected. It's totally free. It allows you to keep track of all of your high scores, earn achievements specific to each of Stern's games, and earn badges for completing timed events. It might just be one of those things that really got us hooked on pinball. Once you have a Stern Insider Connected, you need to get the app, which you'll need to log into, and then connect to a JAWS pinball machine with your personal QR code. And then all you got to do is start playing some JAWS pinball. As you do you notice you accumulate shark teeth These will be displayed on the LCD while you play You earn more the better you do so go watch our other tutorials to learn how Once you gathered at least 10 shark teeth you ready to play Jaws the Revenge To select this mode simply step up to the machine and scan in. Then hold down both flipper buttons for a few seconds. This will then allow you to select which mode you want to play. The default is standard. Using one of the flippers you can go then to Jaws the Revenge. Use the action button to lock in your selection. This will spend 10 of your collected shark teeth. The LCD will display some wonderful 8-bit graphics, and you'll learn that your job as a shark is to save Bruce the Great White Shark from those dastardly bounty hunters. The next thing to note with this mode is that draining a ball doesn't actually end the game for you. In Jaws the Revenge, draining a ball will instead damage your shark. Drain enough times and your shark will die though. Die three times and the game's done. In this mode, each major shot represents a beach. The left orbit represents the east beach, the left wave ramp is the marina, and the center ramp is the north beach. The pond is represented by the fishing reel, and finally the right ramp is the west beach. Shooting one of these shots will move your shark to that beach. Once you are at a beach, it's time to feast. On the screen, you'll see pixelated swimmers at the various beaches. Move your shark to a beach with swimmers and then mash that action button to chomp the swimmers. After enough presses, you'll kill the swimmer and fill up part of your growth meter, located in the bottom right corner of the LCD screen. If the chum bucket is lit, then you can hit it to spawn additional swimmers to go after. But swimmers aren't the only thing you're going to encounter at these beaches. There are also boats. That's right. You'll run into two types of boats in this mode. Fishing boats and police boats. Fishing boats are peacefully trying to make a living. destroying a fishing boat will get you some extra points and throw two fishermen into the water the only jump on no that terrible you seem kind of psyched No I bummed Police boats are actively trying to stop you from feasting on unsuspecting beachgoers They'll pick up any swimmers at the beach and prevent any additional swimmers from spawning. Police boats will also damage you every few seconds if you happen to be at the same beach as them. Oh, that's not good. Yeah, I know. Unfortunately, you can't chop your way through a boat. Instead, you'll have to make shots to destroy them. The fishing boats will be lit on the playfield as teal shots, and making that shot will destroy the boat. The police boats will flash red and blue, a nice little detail, and require two shots to the beach to destroy them. Each boat you manage to destroy will raise your health a little, so be sure to prioritize these if your health is low. Eating swimmers and destroying boats will also fill up your growth meter. Once you fill that meter up completely, you'll level up once you finish a bounty hunter battle. Leveling up makes swimmers easier to eat, requiring fewer chomps, and removes any pesky barrels that bounty hunters may have attached to you during your epic duel. This brings us to the next phase of this mode, the bounty hunter battle. Once you've feasted on enough swimmers, a bounty will be placed on your head. Shots on the playfield will now be lit green, and there are no more swimmers to munch on. Hitting a green lit shot, or hitting the boat slash cage shot, will damage the bounty hunter. While you try to make shots, the hunter is fighting back. He will start attaching barrels to you. One barrel and you'll have to do twice as much chomping to eat a swimmer. Two barrels and you won't be able to heal anymore. Three barrels and you'll slowly start to lose life. Yikes. You must make green shots or hit that boat until the bounty hunter's health goes all the way down. Once you do, the insert at the shark slash boat shot will flash like crazy and hitting the captive ball will then destroy the bounty hunter in flaming glory. After you destroy the bounty hunter, a single barrel will dislodge from you. If you ate enough swimmers during the beach phase you also level up after the bounty hunter encounter Leveling up removes all attached barrels from you gives you more health and gives you better chomping power meaning any unsuspecting swimmers will take fewer action button presses to devour Now it's time to start chomping on swimmers again, but this time on the next level, instead of managing just one ball, you've got to manage two balls. That's right, every time you get to a new level in this mode, an additional ball will be added, up to a total of six balls going at once. You'll have to fight an additional bounty hunter to beat each level as well. So level two, two bounty hunters. Level three, three, and so on. This makes this mode rather chaotic once you start doing well. Managing multiple balls, mashing the action button, and trying to destroy bounty hunters will certainly get your heart rate pumping. Defeating the second level will start a little video mode called Shark Alley. During this mode, two pictures will appear on screen. One will be a swimmer, one will be a shark. Pressing the left flipper chooses the left picture, and pressing the right flipper chooses the right. Choose the swimmer and you'll kill him and get some points. But don't take too long or choose the shark by accident. One last thing to know about this mode is the power up. Hitting the fish finder targets will eventually light one of the shark tower stand up targets. Hit that lit tower to power up for a brief period of time. When you are powered up, you get some cool benefits. You become immune to damage, swimmers only take one chomp to eat, and bounty hunters take double the damage. One brilliant idea we had to do with this mode is to play with two people. So when we play, I can be flipping and Dr. C can focus on pressing the action button to chomp swimmers.
