Now who's responsi- I say who's responsible for this unwarranted attack on my person? I say, I say, I say, pay attention now, boy. This is, of course, Foghorn Leghorn presents the Pinball Junk Drawer. You all asked for it. I say, I say, you all asked for it now. You're gonna get it. Boy, oh boy, are you gonna get it. Go, I say, go away, boy, you bother me. And we are back. Welcome, this is We Suck At Awe. That's sad. This is, of course, the Pinball Junk Jore Big Show 56. My name is We Suck at Foghorn Leghorn, and with me as always... Craft Brew Sally. We Suck at Craft Brew Sally. I don't, though. We're celebrating the death of another podcast. The world will never... The world hardly got to know ye. So, anyway, this is the one that's about pinball, because, hence, Pinball Junk Jore. We're super excited here at Pinball Junk Jore headquarters, because we got our box with our shiny stickers. Yes, we did. Four inches squared. Yes. I like. And they're sparkly. They are very sparkly. I grew up, like, 70s and 80s. So, like, when we were riding dirt bikes around and stuff like that, the coolest stickers were, like, the sparkly ones. I like the thicker ones, though. Like, those ones that are almost, they feel like they're fabric almost. And they're super sparkly. See, I grew up with the scratch and sniff stickers. They don't have those. I know you were angling for some beer-scented ones. Right. I don't think. You could probably get it done, but money is an option. So these are sparkly and large because we also used to have a screen printing business. And we bought the stickers for Daddy-O's screen printing. We were going, and they were tiny. And I had sticker envy. Wherever I put them on, I was like, oh, I've got to put like 10 of these on to make it appear bigger. They were smaller than a business card, I think. They were shit. So this time we're large and in charge. And if you're wearing your Pinball Junk Jore gear at the event, at Expo, or if you just say, hey, I listen to your show, you will definitely get a sticker handed to you by either Crafter Sally or me, possibly both. Where would they get our merch? Where would they get our merch? SilverBallSwag.com, of course. So if you go to Silver Ball Swag, search out the pinball junk drawer. I think if you just put pinball junk, it comes up. And it's easier to remember. And get your hands off my pinball junk. And there's all kinds of – there's lady T-shirts. There's men's T-shirts. There's – Pint glasses. Pint glasses and stickers. But if you're wearing your shirt, you'll get a free sticker. You sure will. But these are different, I think. Ours are sparklier. We went all in. I almost ordered 1,000. I was like, settle down. Let's settle down. You know. Start with less. We did. So good times for that. We also, it was an exciting week. So I don't remember if we talked about the Insider Connect going out last time. Did we? I don't remember. Anyway. Well, I remember we talked about the poor customer service email result of the not registering my thing and it broke the streak, which, okay, that's it. So this is going to be the tale of two customer service journeys. So the first one, if you recall back, it was sad. And nothing got resolved and it just didn't care. I could tell the person really didn't care. And I also didn't care that much because I will say it's been very liberating not having to make sure I play the game every day. But it's counteractive, though. Stern wants me to play a game every day. Anyway, so then the little light went out on our Godzilla Insider Connect reader. And I was like, oh, crap. Like, it doesn't. It stopped working. And it was doing this thing where it was blinking every, like, 10 seconds or something. It was like a, you know, you could tell it was trying to say I'm broken. It didn't have tattoos all over it or anything like that, but you could tell it said it was broken. And so I reached out to Stern, and the guy was working with me and asking, oh, you know, I don't know. Like they always ask you questions, and you're doing it from work, so you don't have any answers. So I was like, hold on. So then I got home and sent him a picture of the bill of lading from flipping out. And he was like, okay. Well, they have a picture. Then I sent him a picture of the backbox that showed the date because I don't know. I was like, I don't know. I said literally it was a day after. It was like we had it in place and up and running like three days after he left your dock. And that was actual. That was real. So he was like, oh. Then he wrote back and he was like, well, unfortunately, it's out of warranty, but I'm going to ship you one. And I went, wow, you're awesome. I owe you a beer. And I do owe him a beer. And a sticker. And a sticker, apparently. It's a beer and a sticker. That's what you're going to get. It's like a beer and a shot. So, you know, and he just, he did that. And I didn't, I wasn't uppity about nothing. I never am. Whatever you get, you get. Whatever you don't, you don't. And, but it was, it came like two days later. It's on the door. Yeah. You know, and I installed it. Easy peasy. It's working. I was so excited and happy. Now, because we weren't playing it as much. Right. It's so weird. I was afraid I was going to get like a high score and it won't count for nothing. And I'm like, I can't play this anymore. It's so true, though, because we were at Lumberjack Johnny's, too, over the weekend. And there was a, we got, like, we got a match at the end. So you got a free game. Yeah. So, and when you get a free game somewhere where you're paying for pinball, it makes a big difference. It does make a difference. But then you get it. And because we were playing the doubles game and then trying to just use the credit for a singles game. Yeah. And I couldn't log back in. I was like this is going to be the best game of John Wick I ever had It so stupid It just like one of those things that really works I mean it really works If you into it you into it So many thanks to Stern this particular guy I'm going to make sure I seek him out during the Stern, maybe at the Stern tour or wherever, and just say thank you. It made a big difference. Yeah. And that's the little stuff that you go, well, that's really cool when they help you out like that, the extra mile. So huge props to Tim M. for taking care of a very loyal Stern family here. Me and Crafter Sally are both very. We are. At the same time, I had the glass off. I also installed the atomic mod that I bought, and it's very shiny, and it worked great. And I hate the glass on Godzilla. It's very tight. Oh, my God. I had to stop and pull it back out because I was afraid it's going to shatter. It's so hard to put that. I hate the Godzilla class. Because I do it, all the other machines are no problem. For some reason, that one is just yuck. So, but that is very, now I did spring, there's a lot of atomic mods out there. I sprung for the one that is the actual cast metal. So it's a metal thing. It's, you know, it's really high quality. It wasn't too hard to put in. Oh, this is the oxygen. Oxygen destroyer, yeah, yeah, that's what I meant. What was I saying? I said it wrong. Yeah, the Oxygen Destroyer. And I can confirm after whatever year and a half that the Giedra is still wet. I put my finger under the wings, and I got a King Giedra from my – I can't remember which one it was, but still wet. And it was tacky when I put it in. And, yeah, I'm thinking I'm going to have to take it out, strip it, paint it like with my paints because, well. Because you might have some. That's what I do. And, yes, so if you're on the wet King Giedra watch, still wet. I'll chime in any time I take the glass off to let you guys know, yes, it is still wet. So we also got to play one of the new games out there. Oh, yes, we did. We got to play Avatar. Yeah. Lumberjack Johnny's had a launch party. We didn't go to the party, but the next day we were there. Yeah. So what did you think about Avatar? I was not impressed. Not impressed? Not impressed by my first game. And I think that was the only game I played. So I think that I need to have more time with it. That is definitely one. This is definitely a machine that is very deep. And there's a lot to it. You could tell there was a lot going on. And we were also playing with these guys that are like the Fox City guys. So they were putting up billions and billions of scores. And there was a flowchart on the wall. And I did a little bit of research on this because I was like, that's weird. So the game came with a flowchart because there's 22 different modes. And there's these real elaborate things where each thing you hit can give you a token. And if you look up on the screen, you can, like, if you don't, it has to be a certain sequence for each thing. And if you don't want that one token you accidentally hit, you can give it back or something. How do you do that while you're playing the game? I don't. Okay. It's the problem. Not the problem. It just seemed like it was really elaborate, which I guess if you're going to have this in your house, that's great. Because there's always more to explore. And there's, you know, I'm sure some of those are really difficult to get. Yeah. it was very very bright and very loud because that's that's always JJP is very bright and very loud I think I was a little bit in awe of the person that played right before us because they had like three billion I think or something like that and then I think I wound up with like a hundred thousand or something I ended up with Jump Town I will say now it did shoot it shot fine I could tell there was a lot of shots that were a little unconventional which is cool. Yeah. You know. I still like Elton John more than this one. I really like Elton John. Yeah, Elton John's a very fun machine. Again, I just don't care about Avatar. I just can't. Right. And I think that's probably the part of the problem for me. Right. I'm not interested in that. You're in, you're out. It is a fun, I could tell it was a fun machine. now that's the other the other problem is when like when you're going if you're uh chasing the achievements as we are i try to force myself but i don't i wouldn't like play galactic tank force or play like god father or something i barely play elton john which i love because there's always monthly achievements and there's also things you haven't gotten yet and you also have a street going and you also have like there's so much more to pinball if you are in this madness of the insider connect you know like it's so and it's because i really enjoy playing toy story yeah and of course i don't play that as often as i should i thought that would wear off because i do love other machines i love really old machines yeah i i like love you know 60s and 70s machines I think they're just so fun and cool. And so I play them. But, you know, if it's a line of new shinies, Stern's getting my money first because I want that Boopy Doops, man. Right. It's all about the Boopy Doops. It is kind of. That's why you have a beer app that gives you badges as well. Yeah. If we had any talent in the rap game, we could make it all about the Boopy Doops. That could be a new rap that would be on TikTok. and no one would watch it. So I only have a couple other things now. Project Pinball has launched their secret silent auction. Silent auction. Silent auction. I think they going to end those on the Saturday of Expo right Yes So if you interested in seeing some of that go check them out Just go to projectpinball They have links there to check out their silent auctions Should be a lot of fun. I don't know. I've got to look at it again. Never know. So I just have one more thing. It's kind of a surprise to you, which I'm sorry about that. Those don't go good. It's not a game or anything like that. But it was just, today I was listening, before we do everyone's favorite, you know, everyone's favorite segment's coming up. Don't worry. So I was listening to some videos at work. I listen to YouTube, mostly when the internet's down, which is often now. It's very strange. And on your phone, doesn't matter. This isn't a pinball. So like I'm listening to YouTube and I was like listening to what happened to Rick and Morty. Because Rick and Morty, I like the show. Yeah. I like the show quite a bit, but it was very, very, it spiked in super popularity, and then it became kind of like a joke on itself. And the quality's been really hit and miss. Like, there's been some just horrid shows, and they're kind of, it almost feels like it's dying, you know. But in the realm of Reddit and the internet and all that kind of stuff, it's like, it's one of those things that you get made fun of for. Oh. For liking Rick and Morty. Uh-huh. And I started thinking now, how does that affect the secondary market of a pinball machine? Oh. Because I started thinking about Austin Powers. Right. You know, Mike Myers kind of became a pariah and fell off. And now that wasn't a game that is a lot out there. And most people that like it, like it. Yeah. And we like it. But it's, is that something that like, because if you lean heavy into a theme, because, you know, like kind of Jaws isn't going to go anywhere. Right. James Bond isn't going to go anywhere. Even if one of them messes up, they'll be erased from history and the next James Bond will be cooler. Yeah. You know. So it's kind of, you know, cancel culture free. But now what happens if you have like one of these things or a music pin, let's say they made an Ozzy pin and all of a sudden he did something. Loses his mind, yeah. More so. No, he does something that is like considered horrible. Yeah. wouldn't that affect it then? I would think so now in your basement you have something sitting there that everyone I don't think anyone hates Rick and Morty and I don't care if the internet makes fun of people for liking it who cares I can still enjoy the show if I could get one I would get one at a decent price that machine is very hard it's tough you have to fix a few things to make it that it doesn't kick your ass every time. You know. But I don't know. I don't know the answer to that. That's a tough question. Yeah. Like what, you know. Because, right. Then all of a sudden you're stuck with something you paid nine grand for and it's, you know, it's the new internet joke. And you're like, well, I don't, that sucks. When it's in your basement, it's kind of hidden away, but. Yeah, it's yours. It doesn't matter. Right. And if somebody doesn't like it, you say get out. Yeah. You know. I mean, as far as resaleability, that would be out the window. Right. Like, if this really is, like, a jokey everyone, like, hates this show now, it's got to have some effect, right? I would think so. I never thought of it like that as far as, like, because I always kind of figured most of the stuff is so innocuous. Like, even these themes we talk about, they're, like, you know, even if it's a bad movie, like, whatever, Johnny Mnemonic, people still laugh at it and like it. It's not, like, an offensive thing or something that everyone hates. So it just was, as right when they were talking about it, how all the things that have kind of the rise and fall of this show, and it has fallen quite substantially, I started wondering. I was like, oh, you know, that's weird. I mean, that could be true. I mean, how many people would actually buy a Rick and Morty now? Or how many people would buy an Austin Powers? And I think for us, Austin Powers is just because that was our first new in-box machine. So I think that's why we would like to have one again. I also will say about, I know, I know like no one really loves awesome powers. I do, but a lot of people don't. That machine taught me shots. Right. There's five very distinct shots and those are in other machines. And when they're in the other machines, I can hit them at will. Yeah. Cause it taught me like, okay, aim, you know, like it taught me like about the, cause I was just also learning modern pinball. I was only used to older pinball machines. So when we got that, as I was playing it, I was like, oh, look, you can stack that. So if I get this one and this one, now all of a sudden I'm getting double jackpots and stuff like that. So I learned a lot on that machine. And it has good shots. It's just the theme is for crap, you know? I mean, who talks about Austin Powers anymore? No one. Yeah. I still, I can watch them. I can watch one and a half of the three. Yeah. I can start streaking shit water. I'm like, ah, I don't really need this anymore. Yeah. Whatever. All right. that's it? You got anything else for any of this? I don't think so. All right, I think it's time we drop in the music for everyone's favorite song. The fans have spoken and we have listened. It's Beer Journal Review with me, Craft Brew Sally. And we're back. What do you got for us this week? This week we're going to talk about a beer that was for a benefit. Oh, yes. Our local radio station had a morning show host who became very ill and wasn't able to continue working. He was like there for 30 years 39 years he was on the morning show That amazing Right And we both enjoyed listening to the morning show with him and Cutter So it was Rick and Cutter in the morning on WAPL. The Rock and Apple here in Appleton, Wisconsin. Yeah. You know what? It wasn't the usual chuckle hut nonsense. I usually don't. I'm not a big fan of morning shows. They're a little bit too. Chuckle huddy. Wacky and shenanigans-y. And you're like. You're like. Right. So no. So he came down with cellulitis and was unable to walk. So he had to go into a care facility. So they decided to partner with one of the local breweries, Stone Arch Brewing. Nice. And they created a beer that all of the proceeds went to help his recovery and pay for some of his medical expenses. So they had a benefit for him, and the beer is Rick's Recovery Ale. And on the label it says, does not cure cellulitis. Just in case there's any confusion. It is a Scottish ale. So I was not very excited to try it, but I was like, I have to buy it just to help. and then discovered that Scottish ales are different than scotch ales. Yes. And I do not like scotch ales. Yeah, and I think that's the difference. Like, scotch ales have that strong, you know, scotch whiskey flavoring to them. Right. And it's like, I'm working too hard for this beer. Right. This is a lot of work. There's been a couple that have just been, like, so, like, just too much. Yeah, strong. And those are scotch ales, not Scottish ales. Ah. Scottish ales are lower alcohol by volume than a Scotch ale. I just wanted you to hit people with a shillelagh a little bit. No. That's not the Scottish people. I don't know things. I'm American. I'm a dumb American. I don't know shit about shit. But if you're ever in the area and you go to Stone Arch Brew Pub, not sure if you'll still find it but go ahead and get some I did enjoy it it's a 4.9% which was nice and it wasn't like I was expecting put some hair on your chest kind of beer but it does not I got away from the super high alcohol I don't know I like regular beer. Right. I do like the Bud Light Platinum because it's like whatever, 6 point something. But that's 6% isn't awful. It's not crazy. Yeah, no. I like the 4.5 to 6.5 ranges. Yeah. It's just right fine for me. I'm used to dealing with that. Yeah. And if I need a little bit more, I'll take a shot of rum. Yeah. I like that too. so like your mom likes um like stouts and some of those that some of those come in at like 13 yeah they're real 10 to 13 percent and like sometimes you can taste that yeah but sometimes you can't like yeah alcoholic like yeah and then sometimes she'll start drinking one and my mom's elderly yeah i'm old so she's older and uh you know that's how it works and uh usually and she's like you can tell when she's almost like getting hammered off about half of a cup and then you look at you're like this is brandy this is worse than brandy but give me give me that yeah no i just let her finish it because then she just goes to sleep but it's uh yeah it's one of those things you're like golly you have to really watch it when you're buying these craft brews and sometimes it's okay i remember what highlight isn't that like seven points up there yeah and i i drank some of them already and was like wow I'm pretty loaded. Anything else? No? Alright well make sure you're checking out some of our other stuff. We have a show called Slow Robot A Go Go. That's an old B-movie review show so you can go to slowrobotagogo.wordpress.com or search it out on any of your things. We do have a show called We Suck At Video Games. It's not doing so good but it's out there. We Suck At Podcasting About Video Games. Apparently we do. and I also do two weekly shows on RadioStPete.com we do I used it as Mimi for many years and Crafter's got the microphone bug now she's on all these shows so that one's called one of them's called Saki Bamagogo and one of them's called The Indie Circuit so that's on RadioStPete.com those are hour long radio shows out of St. Petersburg out of a station in St. Petersburg so enjoy those as well That's going to do it. I think we're going to do one more. We're going to have one more of these before Expo. And then we're going to be, and that's all you're going to hear about, trust us. We're already like. We're all excited about Expo. Exactly. That's usually a let down, but we'll see how it goes. And so we'll have one more of these before. And then, of course, we'll come back and talk all about all the awesome things that we've experienced at Expo. If nothing else, we are going to be away from work for a week. That's awesome, too. Like earlier this week, I'm looking at it and I was like, I had me coming in Monday and then taking off Tuesday through Friday. I was like, what the hell was I thinking? I immediately put in for that Monday. So I have nine days off in a row now. Right. I don't know what I was thinking about that one. We weren't thinking. That was the problem. Yeah, I'm probably going to duck out a little on Friday, too. I'll be like, you know, I got to get going. I'll see you guys. Someone's calling me. Yeah. My not work phone is calling me. Bye. All right. that's going to do it thanks for listening everyone this has been the Pinball Junk Jor show 56 see you next time that's it man game over man game over
