Free food is good. Then we got Thursday begins in earnest. Buses depart from Stern at 9am. Yeah, 9pm. What? I wish. It would be better because then you might be able to go once. No photos or video taping will be allowed at the Stern tour. No employees or contractors for any other pinball manufacturers are allowed. I know Jack from Jersey Jack Pinball. He went on there, put like a fake mustache and went on to bus like he was going to go on the tour last year. They kicked him off the bus. Yeah, I believe that happened last year. So that's interesting, the contractors one. Yeah, I know. That's going to be weird. The flip out starts at 10 a.m. Yeah, with the super bracket or whatever they're doing. Yes, 128 people. Oh, God. You couldn't take the head off or the playfield out because of the wiring bullshit that was done. I'd like to get whoever did this and smack them upside the head. I can't breathe while I'm playing live online. or a genteel epica 2000 The original battery was on the CPU board and somehow did not leak. So I got that off and replaced it with a RAM thingy, whatever. And RAM? Yeah, and RAM. Then I did my first CPU board work where I jumpered it for two 2732s. I've never done that before. It was jumpered for four 2716s. So I jumpered it for two 2732s so I could put Scott's version of the software on, another clue. Oooh. Oooh. So that is in there, everything is working. The soundboard did a little funky sounds and then it went back to normal. I think I'm just going to recap it. Yeah. The speaker is hosed in some bizarre way. It has no mid-range, no bass. It sounds like an old, like, little transistor radio thing. Oh, excellent. Yeah. So, and unfortunately, I used to have a lot of old speakers, but I had tossed them, like, when I moved. Of course. Yeah, of course. That was stupid, because one of them would probably have worked for this. Oh, well. But did it come with a ground? Yes. Okay. It was grounded. It came in the, the wire, the power cord has a ground prong. It also has three parts to it. What? Yeah. The original cord coming out of the game is basically attached to a outdoor extension cord type cord, which is then attached to another cord, which has the three prong plug. Isn't that great? Did it with it grounded? It's all that matters to you. No, it's getting ripped out. That is the most hacked up power cord I have ever seen. And the like single drop target mechs where it raises and lowers on its own, like in Star Trek Next Gen, like in No Fear, you have two coils on the mech. One is like a full size coil and it fires it to put it in the up position. And the second coil is a very small coil, which just fires to release a clip so it goes back down. Mm-hmm. And they're all the same. The problem with this, and I had read where a solution of this was to add some lubrication to it so it would go down. That might work, but to me that's not the issue. The issue, it's the same issue I had with the Star Trek, with the exploding ship where when you go back to home position, and this is where it's hard to explain, but when the The one coil fires, like in this case, it'll fire the trapdoor up. The trapdoor will then catch like on a latch. Think of like a drop target catching on a lip when it's up. The second coil, its job is to pull in so it pulls in the part that it's on, so it can go down, so it releases it. And the issue was, to me, just looking at it, is that this little coil had way too far Did the part that is sucking in had to go way too far for this little call to be able to do it? And I've seen this before. This is the same issue happen my Star Trek It'll just fire it but it's not enough for it to release and the bizarre thing is usually on these type of mechs There's a little piece of metal that's bent over that's an adjustment It's there specifically to adjust The plate and how far it has to push it in On the dialed in it was there but it wasn't like It wasn't bent down like it always is, like I always see it. It's just sticking straight up. So if you have it dialed in, look at your your trapdoor Mac. You'll see where the little coil is. There's a little like tab that sticks straight up. That actually should be, you bend that down. Make sure you do it. Don't do it too far down. It's tough to explain without a visual. I should make a video. But you bend it down. Don't bend it too far. Well you bend it down so it actually touches the plate and then you can bend it further to make the plate not have to The idea is when the trapdoor goes up you want you want to have it the absolute minimum it needs to be for it to catch and no more than that so when this the smaller coil sucks in it doesn't have to suck in that far and I made this adjustment literally maybe adjusted it maybe less than an eighth of an inch in and now it works 100% flawless so don't bend it more than an eighth of an inch They touchdown our next game, and this is vegetative love. 쉽ация To me, that is the issue. I don't know. I've never seen one where it was up in that position because it's the same mech that that part of it that I've seen on countless other. I mean, I think the the up down ramp like on was WHO dunnit is similar. Like it fires it up, hits a latch and then it has a smaller coil that releases the latch and it goes down. Probably any game with a trap door is like that. I bet you if you look at Funhouse is probably the same way. Probably. Why didn't it tilt? And I look in there and the tilt bobs where it should be. So I physically try to hit it over. No tilt, no slam tilt, no rolling ball slam tilt. Hmm. So, I replaced the connector, J3. Still none. Hmm. So, I went into the old RGP knowledge base. And I found my answer. It took me about three or four minutes of reading. Somebody said, reseat the connector on the coin door. I'm like, really? Okay, let's try that. Pulled apart the connector, reseat it back in. Guess what I got? Slam tilt and tilt. Hmm. Really? Fix the tilt? Even going to the coin door? Yep, because I think it's using a diode from one part and the diode could have been like not connecting fully on the coin door part. And it could have been blocking the whole, but it shouldn't have been blocking the whole rail. I'm gonna have to look into this more, but it works. I hit the tail. Here's a little factoid. On a stern, and I'm guessing bally's might be the same, you can't use the test buttons if you don't have the playfield in the game. I never knew that. Yeah, because there's a connector on the playfield that goes up to the head and connects into something that actually connects. I looked it up in the schematic and all that because it's when I was working on the big game and I had the playfield out, and I trying to get into the menu and none of the test buttons are working And it like it like they work before And then I figured that out I bought some stuff for the bar I bought some little cozies for my pinball legs So when people are at the bar, they can put their drinks into the cup holders that Pinball Life sells. They're cozies? I call them cozies because it's nice and cozy in there. You have weird terminology. I do. They're cup holders, folks. They're cozy. Okay. I got seven left and seven rights. We're all set with that. And then I bought my Stern coil flipper mechs because the one on C which is foobarred. And there's a lot of hack wiring we're gonna go dig it into next and hopefully we get her up and running and actually play a game on her. I had to actually get buy a Weebly CPU because me and Zach took the CPU board apart and the acid damage went so bad it was actually in the CPU board. Status of the code they talk about. They're continuously working on updating and improving the software for our machines. There's always code updates and bug fixes in various stages of development. As usual, we release them as soon as possible. Here's a sneak peek at two games that have the updates coming along very soon, as well as a status on a few other titles. Star Wars with this new asteroid video mode and intense lightsaber duel. Oh, you can't wait. You can't wait, can you, Bruce? Well, we saw the video mode for the asteroid mode and we talked about it. It looks like gyrus. It looks like gyrus, yes. And there's bugs already with this code that just came out. Of course there is. Of course there is. 0.92 has a lot of bugs. Batman 66 with new major villain cliffhangers. So that means I think that's going to be the next one coming out. And then as soon as Star Wars is complete, we'll be focusing on a final update for Ghostbusters since there is no wizard mode that actually works. Error Smith will be getting a little more polish, and then we will be revisiting KISS code very soon to create a final update. Okay. I got one more beef with them. Oh, God. Here it comes. Fixed Star Trek. There are so many bugs in that one. Like what? You can get stuck in modes. You can sometimes get stuck literally in a certain mode doing it a certain way. You can't get out of the mode. Bummer. Yes. Plus also a couple other, you know, typing and not typing, but other little issues, but Polish that one you sold enough of them. I am the two-time finalist at Pintoberfest, one of the hardest, toughest formats out there. Pinburgh winner, you know, the usual accolades, karate champ, world champion, even though it has nothing to do with pinball, it still sounds cool. It does. And got to play all of Chuck Webster's games. I like everything's like kind of themed. And the entrance is like to get into his basement you go through this this really short door you have to like bend over it feels like that episode of Star Trek where they go into the ship with Clint Howard if you remember that to drink John Trania and everyone has to duck because it's like small to get through the doorway. I was thinking more like Willy Wonka. Well I was thinking that because he has a whole row that's Star Trek. The Ballet Star Trek, the Data East Star Trek, Star Trek Next Gen, and the new Star Trek. Let's see, then he has Kongo. Then he has like the Tommy row. It's got Tommy, Wizard, and Captain Fantastic. I can tell you out of those, I definitely like Wizard more than Captain Fantastic. I don't like either. I like both. I like Wizard better. It's got a spinner. Yeah, I agree. The Rock and Roll Room Robocop. And I think there's another one in that row I'm missing. But I got to play BMX, which for me, all the shows I go to, for me to actually play a game I've never played before is unusual. I've never played a BMX. And it's fun, isn't it? You would like it. I love it. I long to get one. Yeah. It's got the whole like the, there's no in lane and out lane. Like when it goes there, you have to hit another button on the side to save it. Which later on they made it so it would just happen automatically. But this one you have to do it. You have to do it every time. You have to physically do it. And it has the upper playfield, which is cool. It was cool. It was a good game. All the games were in immaculate condition. Yes, he does a very nice job with his restores. He does. This camera setup was he has like this rope and it just slides the cameras to each game. Just slides them over. Pretty neat little setup. Nice. Nice. And did some trash talking, did some playing. So how did your first round, who did you play in your first round? Well first round was like a seeding round and was the only round you could actually use any of the power-ups you may have purchased. I know, I was kind of disappointed by that. Which was, uh, like I, I had an extra ball and I also purchased extra ball for, uh, Tim and Steph, who ended up playing each other in the qualifying round. So they're using their extra balls that I got for them against each other. So I played, uh, Josh, Josh Sensor, who I play all the time at Rock Fantasy. So it felt like, like I was at Rock Fantasy, like nothing had changed. Like this was just like another Rock Fantasy tournament. We played two games. We played 8 Ball Deluxe, which he had two extra balls I had won. We played 8 Ball Deluxe and I won that. And he didn't use either of his extra balls. So then we played Congo, which he beat me with his two extra balls. Oh my! Yeah, that sounded weird. I had one extra ball and could not catch up. Oh my! So wherever I ended up after that, I just, I played, I don't know, at least two or three rounds before I got a strike. It was like two strikes and you're out. Okay. So I lasted one more round than Tim and Steph did. Wow. Yeah. So you were the highest ranked worker. Highest, highest, yeah, highest placed, highest of the slam crew. Very proud of you. I will say the cliffy protectors I put on, I've had zero issues with bounce outs. So take that for what you will, if you, you know, maybe the cliffies are better than the JJPs. I know they sit flatter because I replaced the factory SIM card hole one with a Cliffy and the Cliffy definitely was thinner and sits a little flatter.
