Don@ 3:25 — Technical incompatibility issue affecting premium buyers attempting customization

  • “I think you're going to be blown away by the art that's topper. And then you're going to see the layout and get excited. But when you play it, there's things they've coded in here I haven't seen before in pinball.”

live stream. A little little more unconventional one. We'll do it for uh for the fans here. Welcome to live chat. Hey, I think it's working. I'm going to grab my Diet Coke here out in public currently for about 30 minutes until we uh I'm going show you. Let me show you. Whoa. Whoa. Don't go away. Gimbal. There we go. Or the flight. It's going to be flight time. Going to be flight time. Flight time will be 2 hours and 30 minutes down to sunny Florida. We're going to pop down to the Florida compound today. Vesco, what's up, trash can ninja? But we're still not missing the Sunday live. No, no, no. Um, we're two days out from Walking Dead. I fig we start with that. Plus the people filter in. But basically this game that was very much lauded with a vocal community of folks as like Stern's out of touch. Nobody cares about this game. You can go get an LE for I saw an LE for $69.99 right now. Was willing to trade plus cash for a Halloween for like an OG LE right here in Chicago. 7 grand. But for only twice that you can go ahead and get an LE of a game that apparently nobody wanted. So, what I'm hearing back is while it wasn't like an instant sellout, you know, they announced this thing, people have lists, my distributor, Mad Mad Pinball Jeff, uh, I think he's got two Ellies left. So, while it wasn't an instant day one sellout, what's up, Jeremy? How you doing? While it was an instant day one sellout, Metallica was um, you know, it still seems to be selling well. And look, it looks like all 500 are going to sell. And the best thing I could say like for the hobby, for the purchasers, is if this game does remain in demand uh to the point that like just like the last two games we saw released ends up going for more than people bought it for, then the buyers are going to be happy. And uh I think it's maybe has some potential. I'm sure that the two that MAD has left, by the way, if you want to get in on one, Jeffpinball.com, tell them I sent you. Use code [ __ ] and get yourself a t-shirt. Um, and my internal thanks. Um, I think once they reveal this thing on the fourth, we're going to see new art. We're going to see the Spike 3 cabinet with its extra expression lights, whether they're on the bottom, on the side, or whatever. And those two are going to go. Now, it's going to be a premium and an LE. The LE is going to come with Invisal. It's going to have a shaker motor. It's going to have hopefully some foil art on the cabinet. The main selling point for this LE, which I'm discovering even to be even more true, is that you're already going to have the speaker expression lights, the better speakers, and whatever this cabinet expression system is going to be. I'm kind of tired at this point on buying the premiums and making them over. Now, with a game like Dungeons and Dragons, it makes perfect sense. You get the cabinet, throw in your own art blades. Sometimes they're better than the LE. Um, you know, put in the shaker, put in the Invisigast or whatever. That's all easy to do. Powder coat the armor, get custom cut armor or something, that's fine. But when it comes to a game like Star Wars, Fall of the Empire with the expression lights, forget it. I had a set of lights that I had on standby and I'm like, I'll just make them over. You know, we'll remove the plastic, cut some grooves in it, throw the Arblade over it. But no, the Spike 2 expression lights don't work apparently in the Spike 3 system. even though they're exactly the same and they fit and the board was getting power. Apparently, they're not coded for that, which totally sucked. So, now I'm left with as a follow the empire owner of a premium with a shaker, with a knocker, and all that business. I've got to then wait until Stern decides to release these expression lights for purchase, and then they're probably going to be $799, right? And then if I want the cabinet expression lights, I got to pay $ 250 for those when they're available. And then I got to figure out the speaker situation. And it's not just a matter of the money because I think I would still be ahead if I bought all those rather than buying the LE, but it's the time, you know, it might be a year until these are available. If you've got the expression lights in the factory for the LE and you didn't make all the LE's, why don't you take those extra expression lights and make them available? Why can't that be a day one drop? It's a part. It's a pinball part. That part should be available. I understand if you still need to work on the topper, work on the shooter rods, whatever. But the expression lights that already exist going in the LE cabinets. I mean, now where are you? I'm I'm at O'Hare. I always hang out here, man. Um anyway, I'm still excited about this game. But back to the LE. If this is true, it's a Spike 3 cabinet. It's got the extra tweeter speakers. It's got the more robust, you know, premium speakers in the backbox. It's got the speaker lights and the cabin expression lights inside and outside. You know, how long is that going to take if you buy a premium Walking Dead and throw the glass in it, get the armor, and then you got to go and wait a year just to get the upgraded lighting pack, which is probably going to be 1,200 bucks at this point. It's a Spike 3. I think you're not that far off from the price of an LE. So, let's say you wait 13 months, pick up a premium for$7,000, and then put them in there when they're available. That all seems to make sense, but again, you're waiting. So, are there 500 people out there that want to go in have the best version of whatever this game turns out to be day one? I think so. And to speak to that point, Matt has two left. So, that's fine. I'm not getting one yet. I'm excited about this game. I'm glad they remastered it. I think it's a great idea of one of their games to remaster, but um I don't need it right now with Winchester coming with Beetlejuice about to drop. Halo is going to be out in March. I'm on a list for a Halo. I know it's just rumored at this point, but I got on a list with Jeff. I'm hoping that if Halo hits, I can be at TPF and grab myself a show game and take it with me. Good segue here. We can talk about show games. All right, who's drifting in here? I'm not missing my Sunday live even though I'm at O'Hare. But not releasing expression lights right now. They make you buy the Ellie or wait. I so I mean for fall the empire I agree but now that they can see that pre-order sales or pre-order interest for Walking Dead Ellie is so high like go ahead and drop it. Go ahead and drop it. Rolling Graves man for real for real. Love it. I'm doing good man. Hopefully you're a real person. Uh so scanning over about to board American Airlines flight. It's uh it's time. I just finished up a hella long stretch of work. Thank you, Noah. I appreciate it. Um, I didn't ask, by the way, but good to know. I'm about to go to church. Oh, well, good. Well, tell them I said what up. Rolling in the graves. Um, bopping out to some Florida heat. I got a little little work conference going on down there. Going to miss Ayappa this year, which if you guys have never been, which I had never been until I got into pinball. I always wanted to go to Iappa, but it was it was always a thing where like you had to know somebody and like the public passes were kind of convoluted on how to get. Now it's freaking awesome. I said no to Winchester. Scott, you're killing me. And Walking Dead, but we have our deposit down for Beetlejuice. I don't think there's a way to lose right now, honestly. Um I think, you know, Winchester's obviously hot right now. We all saw that pre-order sell for five grand and then we're not seeing a ton pop up. I mean, a pre-order selling for $3,000 over, I figured we would see like 20 more just show up. But I think people legitimately really want the game and they would feel remiss if they missed out on it. That's what I'm thinking. So fine, all that's reasonable. Um, I think eventually Winchester will probably stabilize. I don't know. The hype for Beetlejuice is incredible, but Winchester will probably come back down. I don't think it'll ever hit MSRP though. I think for 525, the hype, the Carl factor, the fact that it looks awesome. I've listened to now all the interviews. I listen to loser kid interview with Carl talking about the game just sounds awesome. Rasputin, how you doing, Emily? How you doing? So, we'll be we'll being for some work, for some fun. I'm going to Horror Nights tonight. I don't want to miss it. Tonight's the last night, so we'll be down there for that. Um happy to get out of town. It's going to be a busy month, though. This is like my break that I get and then I get back, we're doing Beetlejuice Midnight Release and then I'm working in two different states the next couple months. Brody, what's up, man? How's your uh how's your game working? Thanks for letting me swing by and grab those expression lights. We got them off to the buyer. Um if you've ordered a Jaws bucket, you've got it. If you haven't ordered a Jaws bucket, what are you waiting for? I don't care if you have a Jaws or not. It's $25. I'll ship it to you. And it's hilarious. Put it on your uh put it on the dashboard of your car, man. Just have it sit there. Uh, hang it from the rearview mirror. Put it at your cubicle at work. It's hilarious. It's hilarious, man. I love I love those little freaking chicken buckets. I got 10 minutes till boarding starts um for the Florida trip. So, show games. I think I heard um I don't know, Kada did a live stream yesterday. Uh he I think he's been harping on the show game thing. To me, it was never really it didn't really register that it was a problem and now I'm angry about it. But it sounds like going forward show games will still be a thing, but they'll just be like wrapped up into the overall numbers. So, you know, Beetlejuice is 1080 now. Don, would you ship the UK? Are you kidding me? I ship worldwide. I've got cargo going out to Australia just about every week. So, yeah, dude. Just email me. Now, if you live in If it's going to be 60 bucks to ship it, you got to you got to meet me halfway or something, you know. But when I ship things to Europe, generally I I upsell and I'm like, "Hey, do you want a couple of t-shirts, too? Some stickers, you know, give me a little bit more money just to make the shipping worthwhile, you know, but yeah, I'll I'll ship you. It's probably 20 bucks to ship a a $25 bucket to Europe, and I don't want to gouge people on shipping, but, you know, it's probably like $30 to ship you a bucket, the rest of the mods for Jaws, a couple of start buttons, and a couple of t-shirts. So, I'd rather do that. Have you looked up loaded up your home leaderboard yet? I for what for what reason do I need a home leaderboard? It's going to be my name all over it. I I don't need that. I don't need to spend $100 a year and then like what? I go down to play pinball. I got to turn a TV on to, you know, reconnect the whatever my my Amazon Fire Stick just to feed my own ego to have a home leaderboard. Now, if I was the type of guy that had friends and they would come over and get on the leaderboard, that would make be more worthwhile. So, once I once I get to Benton full-time, maybe that's something I'll look into. It does look cool, but like right now for me, I don't really see a point because it's just going to be my name on everything. T man, thank you for sending email. Rasputin. Hell yeah. Who are these people just popping in here? Mafasel Hussein, assalamu alaykum, my brother, how you doing? G Money Game Room, you guys got some cool handles. Have you loaded up your home leaderboard yet? So, yeah, I don't I don't see the point on that. They'll be 1080 Beetlejuices, maybe. Maybe 1060, maybe 1040. Who knows? Game is fun. So, you know, most people that bought Winchester probably haven't played it. Most people that have played it have only played it once, twice, three times. Um, I've technically only played it once. Perfect, man. That's awesome. Um, Beetlejuice, 100% of people who bought it have not played it, but I've played it pretty extensively. Like, I spent two hours on it the other day. It's fun, man. It's fun. And I'm playing in like kind of like, well, I mean, the code's better now, but I've been playing this game for 6 months, and the code 6 months ago has improved so much. There's so much more in there. I'm gonna give you some uh impressions, you know, of of Beetlejuice. You know, people say like their first takes, right? Like I haven't played enough for a review, but here's a hot take. So, here's what you're going to see. Here's my my quick my quick first take on Beetlejuice. It's all I'm not going to give anything away, but except the sense on what it's like. So, you're going to walk up to the game or whenever you see it for the first time, but hopefully it's in person, but if it's online, you're going to walk up, you're going to see Franchie's art. It's going to be exactly like what you wanted. Cuz that was my take. I walked in and just saw it across the room and I'm like, "You guys did Beetlejuice. It was awesome." You're going to see that. Then you're going to walk up and look at the game playfield. You're going to look at the mix. You're going to look at the shots and you're going to start getting excited. How do I get up there? How do What is this over here? How does this work? Let me play it. I got to figure this out. And so, you're going to be blown away by the art that's topper. And then you're going to see the layout and get excited. But when you play it, there's things they've coded in here I haven't seen before in pinball. That's a trend. I love it. Couple things new. And when they happen, you're going to be like, "What the hell is this? How does this work? Oh, this is kind of fun." Yeah. So that there's some interesting gameplay elements, too, that tie directly. They're they're on point with theme. They're exactly what you would have wanted from a Beetlejuice, even if you didn't know you wanted it. So So it's going to be awesome. We're going to know soon, man. It's the second. We have 12 days until the launch. Um, the midnight party is coming up in 11 days and we're going to debut the trailer at the party. At the party the night before. It's going to be awesome. And then it'll hit the website the next day. I got to keep an eye on the time. I got about 10 minutes until I got to go get on my 737800. I want to do I want to do travel blogging. I watch these people that just all they do is fly on planes. And so they review the plane flight and the airport and the amenities. And it's like, I want to do that, man. I mean, I love coming to O'Hare. I love going to Florida. I'd rather be sitting in Singapore right now reviewing that amazing airport. That's a hell of an airport. I'd rather be in Hong Kong's airport. Um, I'd rather go to Nepal and show you guys around. What's What's the CMD airport like? I could show you. I'd probably have 100 times people following me because people love aviation. I do as well. We're loading up. We're loading up. There's There's Let's see. There's my plane. It's going to be fun. But, you know, living in Chicago is cool or Chicago adjacent. It's a 2-hour flight from here to Orlando. Min's going to Japan. You lucky so. Every time I come here to O'Hare, like my favorite thing to do is walk over the departure board and look at all the places that you can go. Um, this is where I launched that that mega trip around the world I did back in May. It's coming up again. We're going to do it next year. Um, we're going all around the globe again. Different route. I'm excited. Um, we'll probably cross southern hemisphere for the first time in uh in the Western Hemisphere. I've been to the southern in Australia, but I'd like to go the southern and go to South America. I've not been there yet. I think Rio would be the place to go. Go see the Redeemer statue. um go hang out on the beach and then we'll just we'll fly from there. We'll fly from there, man. I have to see where I can fly direct from Rio. That's awesome. Can I go Rio to Dubai? Let's do that. So, Dubai is on my list. I got Southeast Asian countries still on the list. We got to do uh Laos, Cambodia, Thailand, and Vietnam. I want to go to Vietnam. Awesome. So, Brad, no flight delays today. There were flight delays yesterday, like extensively, and it's because they're not paying our traffic controllers. So, if you come into work, you're not getting paid until, you know, the the folks in Washington can just come together on something. So, that's annoying, you know? I don't I shouldn't have to deal with that. Like, pay people, man. This is horrible. Um, but fortunately for today, travel is pretty good. My son's supposed to be flying back from Detroit tomorrow. Uh, yesterday there were a lot of delays, particularly out of Atlanta. I've not seen a lot here. I'm going to go walk around, take a look before we get on, but so far so good here. And luckily, whenever I can, I book direct flights because so much can go wrong with connections. So, all right, we'll be going soon. So, trip around the world. We're going to do Rio, Dubai, maybe Cairo. Depends how much time I got, but Southeast Asia is like the highlight. Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, uh, Thailand. Hopefully, I can just land, take a train across to Thailand, fly to Bangkok. That'd be ideal. Um, and then Shanghai. I've got that pencile in. I've got one Disney park left in the world that I've not been to. It's in Shanghai. But then at the same time, there's a new Universal Studios in Beijing. And it's like, ah, Brad, sweet. I'll hit you up. You tell me all about Rio. I'm I'm going to fly in. I'll give myself a day and then I'm going to fly out. I'll go back. But the whole purpose of these trips is to like keep it moving. Oh, it's sunny and cold up here in the Midwest. We got awesome games coming out. Beetlejuice launch is following Walking Dead and then hopefully we'll start seeing Winchesterers leave because I want I want somebody near me to get one and invite me over to play it. I want to see some more live stream gameplay and I want to see I want to see what happens when they get past 25% of the code. South Africa. Yeah, South Africa's on my list. I've been wanting to go to Gold Reef City in Johannesburg forever and so it'll happen. It'll happen. I prefer Cape Town, I think, but I still want to get out there. I'll get out there. I haven't been to Africa yet, so it's one of the continents I need to get to. So, we'll pick up South America and Africa, and then that would be um everything except Antarctica for me. Uh and then we got to figure out what kind of uh European trip we're doing this summer, man. Um I've been invited to Hexa. I love France. I love the Alps. So, but then I got to go meet Jenz in Copenhagen. I haven't been to Copenhagen in so long. I've got spots to hit in Sweden. I need to go back to Goththingberg. Um I've only explored a bit of Norway. So there's there's so much to do. And then I still need new countries. I haven't done Poland, Slovakia. Um we'll have to hit those. I haven't been to Portugal. So a lot of travel coming up in the next year. Fortunately, I'm going to be working less, traveling more, making cool stuff with pinball. It's going to be I'm I'm looking forward to 26. I think 26 is going to be cool. 25 is definitely shaping up to be a banger year right at the end. Man, came through in a pinch. Um, up until now, like my favorite release of the year was um Evil Dead and Dungeons and Dragons, D and D and Harry Potter. All right, everybody had a banger, more so second half of the year. What's up, John Tombberlin? You ready to come up, man? You ready to come up? I'm here in Chicago. So, I got people flying in here in about 11 days to come to the midnight party that I thought if I got five people to, I'd be super happy with. Everybody's digging this, man. It's going to be awesome. We'll go another minute and then I got to get to my flight. We're going to be boarding soon. Um, so look for live streams to pop off randomly over the next week or so while I'm down in Florida. We're going to have some fun, hang out with some cool people. I'd love to get back to Ovido uh to Pinball Lounge, my favorite place so far in Orlando for pinball, the greater Orlando metropolitan area. Um I went to Arcade Monsters. It was fun, but you couldn't play multiple. It's free play arcade and you can't start a two or three player game, which kind of sucks. Um I'm going to go back to Pinball Lounge because you can you can buy like a $10 per hour card and you can swipe and they have a P3. We can do a P3 moment. Maybe they got Portal. Dude, if they got Portal, I'm definitely going. All right, guys. Have a good time. Thanks for joining. And more of this to come. But I'm really excited about the next couple weeks of pinball and then 2026, man. What's going to happen with Stern in January? We have no idea. If you want to get yourself a Walking Dead LE, last yesterday I heard there's two left with Mad Pinball and and he's got you, man. You're going to have your game in like a week. So, hit up Jeff at madpinball.com. Tell him you want that LE. I don't see prices going down on the LE there. It'll come fully loaded with all the lights and you won't have to muck around. Yeah, maybe it'll drop to 115 in a year, but this is a hell of a better game. We already know Fall the Empire. So, get yourself on a list, man. Get yourself on a list. Lumberjack Johnny's Portal. I'm going to check it out. All right, guys. Let's get out of this. I'll talk to you later.
