And then today, today I told her, I said, Hey, I'm expecting a delivery. And she's like, I was at work and I'm like, yeah, there's a delivery coming. I'll be right home and she's like why are you coming home i'm like don't worry about it and so i get home and she's like what are you getting and i'm like a game and she she almost got mad and then i said i'm getting spider-man she goes just real naturally she's like oh oh yeah you told me that and i was like okay i won this one i'm okay yeah she was fine so anyway spider-man came today i i love it Drew, you realize you haven't won anything, right? No. Hey, hey, I have Spider-Man in my house. I won. As far as I'm concerned, I fucking won, okay? So, Zach, you'll be very proud. This is my first game. Dave, sorry, Drew. I played one game. it's awesome plays well so Troy South thank you so much Troy Smith is his name look him up on Facebook he does good work in the Midwest area Meteor I finally dropped off the powder coat after all this I'm buttoning it up like it's ready to be put back together now and I was just dragging my feet and I'm a lazy ass whatever not true I just work all the time so anyways dropped off for the powder coat I'm excited about that so it's going to take three or four weeks, unfortunately, but three or four weeks, you know, then I'll get it back and I'll put that thing together and that's going in the game room. There's a spot for it. A guy is coming on Wednesday from Kentucky to pick up my firepower. Believe that he's driving seven hours for my beautiful firepower. So him and his buddy are, they're leaving at like midnight. They're going to meet me at seven or eight in the morning. They're going to pick it up and they're on their way. I was like, that's awesome. So, so yeah, firepower is gone. I will only have four games for a while that's gonna be the first time i've only had four games in quite a while and to ian's point uh i like them all simpsons spider-man jurassic park well avengers pro which is on loan but thank you flipping out pinball oh yeah i had to make that correction sorry so when i was telling my story about stern diagnosing my turtles because they want to find out what's going on with the diverter why it's happening blah blah blah some people may have gotten the impression that stern loaned me a game not true flipping out pinball with uh nicole's big heart she said drew can have an avengers pro to play while turtles is out oh so thank you nicole and to a lesser extent zach i guess yeah so um flipping out pinball no awesome so and like i said none other than bill webb dropped it off so that was cool to get to meet Bill Webb in person. And Zach did let us know that Stern does not have as big a heart as flipping out pinball. No, for sure. They would not have given you a loaner game.     Clearcoat gate. Yeah, I'll get into clearcoat, but I got to do it without this hat on. Okay. So let me rewind here and kind of get us back on the rails, as I often do.

    Yes, I get us on the rails. He's the voice of reason, this fucking clown. So the last couple weeks, there has been a lot of talk about Clearcoat. We're back to the same thing. Stern's had a couple of pooling and chipping issues in Turtles, and we talked a little bit about grainy playfields on Jurassic Park and Turtles as well. I happen to be okay on Turtles. Jurassic Park was a little grainy. Our boy Tim Lee had a little bit of grainy on his Turtles. Anyways, now GNR came out and they had some issues. There was a post put up on Pinside and they had votes. And it was about 50-50 where 50% of the people had no issues with their play field. 50% of the people had either pooling. That's fucking crazy high. Well, but here's the thing. Some people were able to determine that certain Pinsiders didn't have the game. So some people hijacked the thread. which you could expect to happen. But there was something like about 100 votes, and like 40 of them said, my games are fine. And like 25 or 30 said, I have some pooling. And like 10 or 15 or 20 said, I have chipping, and paint is coming up. So like I said, roughly 50-50.

    And we know those numbers might not be 100% accurate, obviously, but there's obviously, there's been a lot of pictures out there of pooling, right? We've all seen them. Absolutely. There's been pooling, there's been chipping, that's not up for debate how many is, and what they're doing about it is definitely up in the air. And we have to, at the end of the day, we all have to kind of understand what these companies are doing. You know, Stern and JJP are sending their play fields out to Marco, and we're still not, we're still not, I don't know what Drew's doing behind me, but his face is real red. But we don't – he's distracting me now, kids. All right, so we don't know exactly what Marco uses as far as a clear coat goes.

    Also, I know American Pinball and Spooky have the same vendor for theirs, and Drew's telling me that CGC also uses that same vendor. I'm not sure if that's true or not. It sounded that CGC and Spooky were using the same vendor. Okay, well, Dave Brennan today confirmed that American Pinball uses the same vendor as spooky, which makes sense to me because the clear coat on Oktoberfest looks very, very similar to the clear coat that was on Drew's Alice Cooper. Which was flawless, by the way. Yeah. And, sorry, it makes sense about the CGC because we know that Charlie's working on something with CGC. Well, that's true, but CGC might also, because they have a lot of other pokers in the fire, They may actually do it in-house too, but I think CGC is definitely – okay, everyone's saying Mirko. CGC is Marco. Okay, Mirko. CGC is. Yep. Okay, thank you, thank you, thank you. Okay, so that makes sense to me because it's really, really shiny, and it dimpled like a motherfucker when I got my Monster Bash SC. So Oktoberfest doesn't dimple, and neither did Spooky's – your Alice Cooper. So anyway, so back to kind of basics on clear coats. Let's just talk about it in general terms because, one, we don't know the exact product that they're using. It's proprietary. They're not going to tell us what they're using. And, you know, we knew at Williams towards the end of the, you know, 90s or whatever, they were using diamond coat, which is still available by PPG. They can still get that formula. um there's a few things we just got to touch on in order to understand why they don't use it um first off let's go into i got my notes here because i wanted to do this somewhat organized they're just basic bullet points so if i if i fail miserably you'll have to excuse me um yeah notes so let's go into really quick let's just do a really sample generic way to do clear coats okay so clear coat the science behind clear coats is very simple simple if you if you if you break it down in a simple term. So for example, for our example today, we're going to do something real easy. We're going to do a one-to-one ratio, an A to a B, okay? A is your clear coat, B is your hardener, okay? So let's just talk about the proper mix. Now, some clear coats, there could be more than just two components, okay? This is just for an example because, you know, some clear coats can have multiple components. There could be reducers, retarders. There can be a lot of different things in an epoxy clear coat that they could be using on these pinball machines. But for our example today, to make it easy, one-to-one ratio, an A to a B.

    So you need to have 100% A to 100% B to make the mix. Usually with clear coats, There's something called a sweat-in time with epoxies.

    A sweat-in time is basically when an A and a B gets mixed. You have to let it chemically bond to each other for 30 minutes. Once the chemical bonding takes place, then you're allowed to use the product.

    So for our examples, what happens if you don't put in enough B? B is the hardener, remember. So A is your clear coat. You said hardener. You don't put enough hardener in there. What happens? Well, depending on the amount of hardener you put in, the clear coat can remain soft. It may never harden up completely. The other problem is if you really don't put enough B in there or you skip B altogether, it's potential that that clear coat will never dry. It'll stay wet. You could just wipe it right off the play field and start over. It will never dry. So that's very interesting to understand that. Now, if you put in too much part B and not enough A, that's where you get something that's going to be way too brittle. It'll get very, very hard. Again, the mix is very, very important. The mixture is the most important part. Getting the right mixture and getting it consistently mixed is very hard. You need to be skillful. What's up? You can get weird drying. You can get extended cure times. There's a lot of different things that could happen with just temperature, humidity.

So I don't know how good Mirko is with their shit. That's all I'm saying. Here's the other thing to think about when it comes to clear coats. We don't know what, again, we don't know what Mirko is using. But these are all things that you should be aware of when this kind of shit happens, okay?

    Okay, so the other thing I wanted to talk about is, you know, the cure time. So the Mirko demonstration, Chris, you know, on Kaneda's podcast, he talked at length about there was a Mirko demonstration where he showed off his new play field and he torqued a post, right, into the play field? As hard as he could, yeah. As hard as he could to not damage or to show that there is no damage and his play fields are perfect. Well, here's the problem with a demonstration like that. All clear coats have a cure time. Now, a cure time, depending on what product it is, could be seven days. It could be a month. Hell, it could be multiple months, depending on the quality of the clear coat, okay? Now, Mirko could show you a fucking beautiful clear coat that's badass and super expensive, and Stern's not going to pay for that much on a really good clear coat. Stern is going to have a dollar amount set. Like, this is how much we can afford for these clear coats.

So the other thing, too, is we don't know how long that play field that Mirko used to demonstrate, how long it sat there and cured um the longer you have a playfield cure the harder and more durable that that playfield is going to be that clear coat so he could have had it sitting in the back room for two or three months just getting harder and harder and you can get drink uh do you need tequila in there yeah you do probably not but let's do it and that's exactly what what we're talking about here you know he could have easily oh my god true so that that that could be another reason canada why yes whatever he's using sucks i i agree canada but that could also be the reason why the ce's awanka um were a lot better than the first runs because a lot of these fucking a lot of these these these these these tables these these play fields could have been done a lot earlier. The whole goddamn point is there's a lot of factors that can go on to clear coats. Charlie Emery was on the Super Awesome Pinball Show. He talked about how his shit is better because they go a thinner coat. It's less shiny, but it's a thinner coat. And it got me thinking, like, does a thin coat of clear really become less shiny because it's thinner? Not really, right? I don't think so. I mean, a gloss is a gloss is a gloss. Now, you can get more depth, obviously, if you put on three coats of clear. But I don't know if that's necessarily the case.     Here's what I had to say about that. Now, if it was the printing process, right, so not every inch of the play field gets printed. There are some parts that have wood, right?

    Now, if there was something about the printing process, the inks or whatever you used, it would be very very very clear where um the inks would interact with the clear coat meaning if the clear coat didn't like the inks for whatever reason now lacquers are very very temperamental when it comes to this i don't think anyone's using a lacquer for their clear coat by the way but i just want to say there are certain instances where clear coats can be very temperamental when it comes to outside factors Now so the inks here my problem If you had let say the clear coats were not liking these inks it would pretty much you would be able to see that within the first day of spraying these play fields out And it wouldn't affect posts per se. It would affect where the ink actually is on the play field. So wherever it was printed, you would get bubbling. You would get lifting. You would get a lot spider cracking and stuff. You're saying if the ink was the issue. If the ink was the issue and that product is laying, that clear coat is laying directly onto that ink, and it doesn't like that ink, it's going to try to lift. So he asked, because isn't the ink lifting off the wood by the post? And Ian's saying it wouldn't matter where it is. It'd be lifting anywhere, everywhere, right? Right. If the ink was an issue. Well, it would, yeah. It would be where the ink is. Now, the ball travels. Now, from what I've seen, Chris, and you can correct me if I'm wrong, but where I've seen the balls traveling on the middle of the play field where the inserts are, everything. Use the pin shades to see your balls. That seems to be just fine. We're talking about torquing on posts, and we're seeing some places where you're getting chipping. Now, the torquing on posts is pretty clear to me. Any kind of pooling, that clear coat is not hard enough, period. we can go into voc restrictions that's the cure that's the cure time that that's that goes with cure time that goes with proper mixing that goes with the product being tough enough and that goes with return to service rts return to service that's the other thing we haven't talked about that's probably the most important factor for jjp and stern they need these play fields asap They need them right away. As soon as they get sprayed, they need to get their hands on those playfields so they can start populating them. Because an unpopulated playfield is not getting sold anytime soon. You need to populate those playfields in order to get that assembly line moving, in order to get your orders, etc. So with that being said, the return of service is the most important part.

It needs to be a product that I'm saying Canada is the factor is it all boils down to a shitty product. Miracle uses a shitty product. That's it.
