Apologies in advance for any adult language, but here at the pinball party, we like to party. So let's party. We're three guys who like to talk pinball. Todd talked, he had something to say. The pinball network is online. It's player versus player, and player versus player. Another sunny day in the land of the pinball party, where we like to talk anything and everything pinball related, from news to speculation, rumors, to Reviewing games that I've owned and trying things from the pinball pantry. Sometimes talking to our robotic friend, Meth, funded by the Final Round guys. Sometimes we just like to listen to Neon Dale. And last but not least, we like to have a good time. You know, I have a sneaking suspicion that a lot of you are new listeners. So let me be the first, and probably only, person to welcome you to the Pinball Party Podcast. My name is Jason, and I am your host. I live in Wisconsin. Who am I in the pinball world? Well, glad you asked. I am nobody. Yeah, I'm just a guy. I like to play pinball. I sell and trade a lot, not to flip or make money, but where I live, there's not always a lot of machines to play. So to put a lot of time into a game, I gotta own it. And I get bored with games quickly. So I go through games a lot, which is another reason why I review games that I've owned. I've been going in order so far. We're, we're at number five here. We're going to talk about Simpson's Pinball Party today. And I have a special guest to help me do that. Well, other than the Simpson's Pinball Party review later, what are we going to talk about today? You know, we're in this kind of calm before the storm. Bond was just announced. Well, was it? I guess it was. It was technically announced by Stern and we started to see pictures. We started seeing blurry pictures of both the pro and the premium. Then we saw a little more. Then we saw, quote, official pictures. Much sharper, much better look at it. And overall, the buzz is, you know, it seems to be pretty positive. We could talk about that all day. But you know, I don't, I just don't want to talk about Bond today. Yeah, apologies to anyone that wanted to hear it, but I think, you know, for example, there are a couple great videos already out there. Kerry Hardy, for example. Two fantastic videos I've seen this week. He put a lot of time and effort into it. I think he has some great ideas. Go check him out on YouTube. Now, not to say I don't want to talk about Bond in the future. I just want to wait till the official gameplay is out there, because I'd be kind of repeating, you know, what I've already heard. I'd be repeating what I read on the internet. I'd be repeating what I said last week. Just really nothing new. So to save your ears, to save my breath, let's just wait. Well, Jason, if we're not going to talk about Bond, what are we going to talk about? Toy Story 4? That's old news. TNA 2.0 being 9,000? Eh, I'm over it. We could get super deep and find out why I'm talking to myself, looking at the same computer screen that I've looked at for the last five years, working in software during the COVID, pre-COVID, post-COVID world and slowly descending into madness. We could talk about that. But maybe for the sake of listeners, sake of my own sanity, I don't know, I guess I'll bring on some sort of guest just to, you know, stop this loneliness. Who do we... no one's around I guess... Mef! Hey man, what are you doing? Fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck. Oh, right, not Mef. Man, what is going on? It's just, you know, it's like, I'm not getting the music right in the beginning, there's no one to talk to, I'm going nuts... Let me bring someone else. Who do I know? There's nothing better to do than talk about pinball. Oh, I know! Hey, you've reached the voicemail of Greg Bone. If you're looking to book me for anything like a podcast, for a personal appearance, for a birthday party, Please do not be calling me directly. Call my agent. My agent. Ah, shit. I guess I gotta... Yeah, I gotta call him. Alright, put on your enthusiastic voice, Jason. Yeah, I can't wait. God. Alright. Welcome... Welcome... Alright, come on. Come on. Fake it till you make it. Alright, well my second guest today, he has a few titles. Let's just go through the list. He is the co-founder of the Pinball Network, owner of Flip N Out, co-host of Straight Down the Middle, a pinball review video series, host of the Pinball Show, and last but not least, a previous owner of an above ground pool. The Winning Pinball Show, Knapp Arcade, Bally Williams, Straight Down the Middle, Bally Williams, Really though, when I got into pinball, not as a kid, but when I got back into the hobby, when I could actually afford a game and I started looking, anyone who's listening, they have a very similar story. I don't care who you are. If they call you a shill, if they call you a shitbag, whatever they call you, Straight Down the Middle review video series affects so many people. You and Greg are fantastic. You're great reviewers. Your personalities, they're super charismatic. They're infectious. I've watched every single one, some of them multiple times. I'll tell you which one I've watched multiple times. So this or that premium or pro and I'm like, all right, do I spend two more grand? What do these sons of bitches say? I think you two are severely influential in the best possible way. Thank you for everything you've done for the community, for the hobby. I think it's astronomical. I can't thank you enough for joining me. You're building me up to tear me down or something here because that was way, way too kind. Thank you so much. Yeah. I figure I was probably playing second fiddle to Greg who had to cancel because you're recording Page appearance s http:// AladdinUn innovations.com The pinball party likes to join the pinball network? Yeah. Do I play hard to get? Do I say kick rocks? You never know in those situations. I never know how to bring it. Do I bring it hard to you with the invite? Do I soften you up a little bit? Yeah. Same on this end. Yeah. I don't know if it was softer. It was right down the middle. It was just a single sentence. Thanks, Zach. Straight down the middle. Nice. Yeah. The Back And you know I was on the treadmill when you sent that, sweating my fucking ass off, hated everything about my life in the moment because I was just like I just got five more minutes I hate all this. I got the email, I was like oh man cool. Well long story short, you asked me to join TPN. I talked to your people. You talked to my people, I talked to your people. Correct me if I'm wrong, I think I went through the paperwork for six to eight weeks before I got back to you. Yeah, that's it. Look, it's a David Dennis, George Fisher, Dennis Kriesel kind of that. They're they're the people that push up their glasses. You know, I am the closer. That's what I was coming in trying to close. Gentlemen's handshake. We're all good here. How's that sound? And you were like, I need to see some paperwork. I have a few questions. You son of a bitch. Yeah, you asked really good questions. So like shit, guys, I went back to TPN. I was like, this guy's good. Like, legit. He asked shit that I probably want to know, too. Are you fucking in? Are you in? Are you in? Come on! Exactly. Yes! I'm in! Celebrate good times, come on! It's a celebration. The party is coming to TPM, people. The pinball party. Look, dude, everything you're doing, we've heard you featured on doing just so much work for other pinball podcasters. Whenever I stumbled upon what you were doing here on Pinball Party, I thought to myself instantly, I'm a fan of the TPN. I like to think I have a knack for catching, you know, whenever somebody's doing really good, hopefully I can catch it before other people figure it out. I mean, that's my thing. And I'm like, this guy's got the cadence. He's got the thoughts. He is articulate. His voice is like a fucking angel. Oh, thank you. He knows audio. So this is a no brainer. I don't know if he'd be interested in TPN or not, but we are, and I can speak for behalf Thanks and keep on making it fun. It's my pleasure. I'm honestly thrilled to join. I'm really excited. Hold on. How did you even come up with this pinball party name? I've got to know. Hmm. Well, the name was I started to do – this is true. The final round did talk about this. It's no lie. I was – Okay. I emailed them a question a couple months ago like, hey, rate these five games. Like, oh, cool. I called them a bastard and used some swear words and all that. I don't remember that. We have some great pins for anyone who's interested четting into this LEwich, actually only really serves for you if you don't see any interest in him. I appreciate it. Also, like so many of you here today, you are above the 말es. Clark, who... Another solid name. Oh, yeah. He was our sweetheart. He was the man of the house. He passed away a couple years ago. And we always knew if we got a female, which we would, we wanted to name her Mabel. We just liked the name. Maybe it was some influence of the old Goldfinger song, Mabel. Maybe not. I don't know. Some of that. We... After we got over the loss of Clark and we were ready to have another dog, we started looking again. We're looking and looking and looking and we see this angel pie on a website, you know, big goblin ears, big beautiful eyes, like, oh, that's her. Her name was fucking Mabel at the foster. We were going to name her Mabel. Mate, I don't even know if I believe in that shit. Oh yeah, same here. And anyway, her name was already Mabel. We went there, met her. It was love at first sight. Got her home. She's the best. Dude, the reason I'm so interested is because I attempted to name our third child Mabel and my wife said, you're out of your fucking mind. There's no, it's just not like she has a thing against Mabel. It's just it didn't click with her and for some reason it clicked with me. Our third child is now Penelope Rose, so no Mabel. It's a beautiful name. I've tried to name, I've tried to name pets Mabel. It's just I can't get the Mabel through. The Ballywinx Pinball Program So, yeah, sorry about that. No, yeah, I'll send you a picture of Mabel. Maybe this will change your wife's mind. Oh, so, yeah, yeah. So I'm walking Mabel, listening to the pinball show. I walk her five days a week like a good dog owner, and I notice from like Tuesday to Thursday, where's your podcast, bro? Sometimes it's Triple Drain, sometimes it's Final Round. So I got this gap from Monday to Thursday. So I send final round of email just giving them more shit like what the fuck guys, where's your podcast? Like if you don't do one, I'm just going to do one. And I waited a couple of days for more podcasts like fuck it, I'm just going to do one. I sit down, I was actually working on a demo of a song and I was like, you know, I just minimized logic, opened up a new window, I just started talking and I did the thing and then afterwards like oh, what's the name? Let me take five seconds because I don't want to think about this. I'm a pinball party. Pinball party. Yeah, pinball party. So, you know, I wasn't philosophizing all night or, you know. Okay. Bring the party to TP and I love it. And some of my, you know, thoughts are the same way I deal with the music I do is I like to have friends involved. I don't always like to have the same exact, you know, just me doing it. So I like to bring in someone here, someone there, a friend there and, you know, kind of a party, you know. Pinball pantry. Pinball pantry. Oh, man. Oh. You're going to hear something soon. And then we're recording the review of Simpson's Pinball Party. Oh. Someone called this a theme. Whoa. Okay. Well, before we get to the review of Simpson's Pinball Party, I got a few questions I want to ask you. It's a new segment I like to call Getting to Know Your Balls. We getting to know your balls calleB Vegas All All All the people on here that do know about pinball these questions will make sense It just kind of gets to know your pinball personality. Don't ask me how I got into pinball. What kind of podcast host would I be if I asked that stupid fucking question? Scratch number one off. All right, here we go. So, no answer is wrong, but I need an answer on all of it. Number one, when playing a game of pinball, what gets your engine going more, multiball or extra ball? I would say lately extra ball. Look manufacturers out there, coders out there, enough with the multiball. We're not all noobs out there. If I'm playing Hobbit, I expect it, but every other game, come on, I don't need all of these multiballs. I love you, Kiefer. Do you prefer home play or location play? Not even close, 100% home. And even more odd, I prefer to play alone than I do with friends or others. I hear you there. Yeah. I don't want to take the time. I don't want to wait while they're playing. Quite frankly, I don't care how great they're doing. I want to see the Wizard Mode. I sure as hell don't want them to see the Wizard Mode. I want to wait for them to get to said Wizard Mode. And if they're looking over your shoulder, there's that added little like anxiety like, oh, come on. You know, it doesn't... That one doesn't bother me as much, but... No? Yeah, and I like hanging out and playing with buddies, so it's not like I'm like some freak, but yeah, there's nothing like darkroom by yourself, you know, cranking out and trying to... What was the segment called? It's called... Yeah. Yeah, I shaved last week. But no, it's I think that I like playing at home. You can hear it. You can feel it. You can see it. So you prefer playing at home in the dark cranking one out. Right. So not even a joke. I told you, man. When you asked me to come on, I'm sorry. I love it. I love it. I knew you were going to get. That's what I wanted. Favorite era of pinball? Whatever is the newest. You know why, listener out there? Until we get to the pinball news we have on our special podcast show PA nationally based The Valley Company, Subsidiary of Walter Kidde & Co., Inc., Mirco Playfields, Tim Tim Kitzrow, Scott Danesi. This nelic set stuff is no fun. New pinball, always. This question I shouldn't even be asking you. I can answer it for you. Topper or no topper? No fun? Come on. Yeah, come on. Next question. We're skipping it. Rampsrenal Tomer Drチーservice I can put a topper on a topper, I will. Slarors dein James Rees A tippy-topper. That's right. Rampsrenal Tomer Dr Ramps or spinners? opens 30 minute Oh. Man. Depends on the day. And I'm evolving. I'm like a very, you know, getting used to whiskey. You gotta let it ferment until you start liking that more. Oh man, ramps are... I'm gonna go ramps. I'll still stick with ramps, but spinners have really... I've noticed spinners a lot more than I do ramps now. I agree, and I think the sound makes the spinner. And the feel, too. I mean, ramps sometimes are... they don't have much feel to them, like a spinner does. All of these are spinners, but a crappy located spinner, you know, geometrically if somebody designs a spinner in a bad spot, there's nothing worse than that. Except maybe for a really, really shitty ramp. So, yeah, I'll stick with ramps, but I do love some spinners. Another or, scoops or loops? Fl Stanford, and the Northeast Health everybody! Every little click of friends has a different term for this, so I'm going to ask it very vaguely. Okay. What do you call the sound when you get a free game? I call it a knocker. Okay. Is that an acceptable, like, is that what you're talking about? Yep. That's an acceptable answer. What the hell else do you call it? We called it a crack growing up. A crack? Called it a crack. Oh. What is your favorite machine right now? Could be all time, could be right now. Favorite game of all time is The Walking Dead Pro. Not Premium L.E. Pro. That's so boring because I've said that so many times. Right now, I'm still eating crow. I've been playing a shitload of Deadpool right now. Oh yeah. I've drugged that poor game up and down the road on people. But damn it if I just, yeah, I get it. I get it. Until I just kick the ass out of it one day, and then I probably won't touch it for a long time. I'll pinball party it and get rid of it and get something else. Good call. Least favorite game? Wow, least favorite game. There's so many that I hate. You know what? Not that this is my least favorite, but it's one that gets people's eyebrows up and they don't understand. Batman 66. Oh! I don't. And people are like, oh, you're a shill. You never say anything negative. So it's the example I use to show people that, number one, I'm still a pinball enthusiast and I always will be. And if I'm selling Batman 66, I'll be happy to sell you one. But if you ask me what I think about it, I'm going to tell you what people love about it and I'm going to tell you what I don't like about it. So Batman 66, I just, nothing tugs my berries on that game. It's just not doing anything for me. From the music to the shots to the waiting for the carousel to spin and trying to trap up so that you can hit the phone, like nah, nah. I don't even like the rules. They're complex, late and great, Lyman Sheets. He's a genius and alternatively he did The Walking Dead, which I think is the greatest code ever. I don't get Batman 66. Don't get it. But if they rethemed it, oh I guess, well they did reverse theme it from... Dude, if they rethemed it to like Back to the Future, I'd be pissed. Oh, so it is more than anything. It's the layout, it's the whole... Don't get me wrong, it would be one of my favorite games instantly because of theme I'm not a fan of the game because theme matters that much, but I wouldn't be a happy man, no. Last two questions. What is more impactful to you in a game, the sounds or the lights? Lights, absolutely. I've never been a sound... I know you hate hearing this, but I don't know if my hearing's just probably not the best. I was one of those weird kids in high school that went through my urban phase. I had the subwoofers and all that stuff. So I think I just really damaged my ears and sounds. I know when sounds are really good versus when they're not, but immersion wise, it's a lot of times it's the moments are made for me by the lights. All right. Last question. If there's one pinball machine, is it theme or gameplay? Does gameplay mean layout or does gameplay encapsulate rules? What are we defining as gameplay before I pick theme over it? Theme I get. Goonies. Back to the future. I'm saying if we took your favorite shooting game, The Walking Dead, turn it into a Whitewood, take all art away, same rules. I don't own Dialed In and that's one of the best shooting and best rules games there is in history. And I own Popeye. Give me theme. It's a thinker. Give me theme. All right. Well, thanks. That was an asked question. That was hard. That's not fair at all. Well, before we get to the Simpsons Pinball Party on the Pinball Party Podcast, just a quick public service announcement. This podcast will be the last one I release on my own private feed. It will also be simultaneously released on the Pinball Network, but going forward, you will find me on the Pinball Network only. Public Service Announcement Number 2. We are about to review the Simpsons Pinball Party, but this is not an official Straight Down the Middle score. This is a Pinball Party score featuring... Is that just because Greg's not here? Yeah, but what makes it official? Fine, let's make it official. Official Straight Down the Middle, if... well, if Greg was on, I wouldn't say anything, but we've been over this. Some of these are obviously yanked from Straight Down the Middle. I mean, you know, you've perfected the way it's reviewed over time. I've tried to put my own little spin on it, but hey, it's the same thing in the end. We're reviewing the people, the things that people care about. Sure. We're reviewing the theme. We're reviewing the gameplay. We're talking rules. We're talking visuals. We're talking all that. Well, you know, let me give you my story since I'm reviewing games that I've bought in order. This one was my first experience of, uh-oh, I'm not comfortable. The games up to this point were, you know, maybe an hour, maybe two hours away. This was the first. This was down in Chicago. So I'm up in Eau Claire. So for me, it's about a five-hour drive. It's a haul. All I knew was that Simpsons Pinball Party was, you know, it was this and Lord of the Rings were the deep games. I never played Simpsons Pinball Party, but I knew from the demand and from the price if I didn't like it, I could get rid of it. I'm like, all right, whatever. Let's just do it. You've got to own it once. Yeah. Got to have it. Regardless of what I'm about to say, the gentleman I bought it from was a stand-up I'm going to be a little bit more specific here. I'm going to be talking about a guy, nothing against him. However, everything around that circumstance was pretty fucked up. I drive down, big stack of cash as you know, I won't say the suburb, I'll try to just be as vague as I can. I pull up to this address and it's an empty warehouse. No cars, no nothing. I text the guy, no answer. Call the guy, no answer. Transcription facebook.com Are you playing with me? Yeah. Oh. I said, I start smelling like, what is that? It smells like a burnt computer. It just has that smell of a computer running super hot. He's like, hey, he thinks like I'm with the feds or something. Don't tell anyone what I'm doing. I'm like, what? What are you talking about? Well, I'm mining for Bitcoin. This is early on in the Bitcoin's days. I'm like, what? Okay. And in the computer industry, like I know exactly what it is, but he wants to explain to me. He's got racks. I'm like, okay, and all I can hear is these fans going. I'm like, okay, man, this is weird. He's like, you brought cash, right? Yeah? You didn't leave it in your car, right? I'm like, well, yeah, it's locked out there. Oh, this is a really unsafe neighborhood. You don't want to do that. I'm like, oh, maybe you could have told me that before I got here. Oh, yeah, you're going to want to go get that. In fact, you should pull your car onto the back. We don't want anyone seeing you here. In fact, there's a good chance it's not there anymore. Yeah, I'm like, son of a bitch, tell me this before I drive. Okay, I go outside, I park around the back. Again, at this time I have to pee. I've driven five hours. I'm like, yeah, right before I ask, got to pee. I hear that, meh, meh. He says, oh, excuse me. Like, okay. He's gone for 45 minutes. I feel like my bladder's going to burst. He finally comes back, doesn't give me the, oh, I'm so sorry, it was 45 minutes. He's just like, yeah, so here's Simpsons. Like, what kind of, what are you running here, bro? I test out Simpsons. I do like one ball. I notice right away the ground. I'm going to go to the garage door. It doesn't work. I don't care. I got to pee so bad. I want this game. I'm in an unsafe neighborhood. This is weird. Let's get the game. We break it down. I get it. I go home. I realize the whole garage, that whole kit and caboodle is over, completely busted. None of it works. This is my first foray into ripping that whole thing out and that was my first introduction to the Simpsons Pinball Party. My bladder is full. So did you at least release yourself somewhere? Where did you piss? I think it was at a quick trip. You ever pissed in a Gatorade cup on a Saturday night? I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I think it was at a quick trip. You ever pissed in a Gatorade cup on the pinhole? No. I have. Have you? Oh, that's fantastic. You're talking like a 20-ounce or one of those fat bottom? Well, it's got to have a big mouth on it, but I can't. I don't trust myself pissing into like a regular 20-ounce. No. I've got to have a little more room there. So yeah. Yeah. I've pissed in, yeah. You know what's weird? Good for you. Never talking about pin stories because I relate to you very much. You have moved machines quite a bit, right? As I have in the past. And one of the things that I have done, which is just, I don't know, stupid. Like I've slept in my vehicle because I don't want to pay for a hotel room. Yeah. That's baller. I do stupid shit like that. Yeah. I'll sleep in the back of the van or something. It's really weird. Well, yeah, you're already dropping 10 to 20 grand. Save what you can. Right. I'm thinking, yeah, save me some money. Yeah. So I've slept in my van. John Popadiuk Bob Betor Keith Elwin Laser Los Bowen Kerins Lyman F Sheats Jr orbit ramps Automated Amusements Python Anghelo Joe Kaminkow Tim Tim Kitzrow Scott Danesi I have yet to piss in a bottle or sleep in my car so I have a lot to aspire to I always wait I always wait until I get to the house and I like shit I gotta piss I don want to ask the person I picking up the game from to piss So I'm like, uh, uh, God, let me pull down on her a little bit. Okay. Have you ever had someone who bought a game at your house ask to use your bathroom and then they shit? No, I'm gonna call them out by name. Uh, there's a guy on, on, often on streams, his name is Jobber. Richard instant reloads internet for once in animas transfer Erid Aggiva range or something like a improve painting rooftop to him and uh... he took a ship my house who should winter pen about machine practicing at his at proud the arm is that the says but they take a sheet at his toilet uh... well dude and he did its houses that you're now now figure it out testing is worth it no Yeah I was actually thinking of doing that but I think we stumbled across what it'll be called figure it out figure it out is the is the right title well I think I think we've complained enough about buying and selling and shitting in each other's houses. Let's get into this game where I might shit on this one a little bit as well. Oh, good segue. The Simpsons Let's talk about the theme. Simpsons. As my guest of honor, I would like you to go first. If you don't know, we do these out of ten. One to ten. You can do .5s, do whatever you want. .3s, I don't give a shit. What an asshole thing to do to have to have that remainder that just keeps going .33333333. Oh, there's nothing more dickish than that. I tell you what I'm gonna do. If you give me a .3, I'm gonna make the audience suffer and I'm gonna do the math. I'm not gonna edit it out. I'm gonna dead air as long as it takes to add that shit up. When it comes to theme, who doesn't like Simpsons? Especially if you're around our ages, right? Anywhere from, I don't know, I'd say 25 to 55. Simpsons! They've been around forever. The artwork is good. It's quirky. I think they're still running The Simpsons. Nobody watches it anymore. The Simpsons is a great theme and it's a great pinball theme as well. It's a cartoon. It's an animation. It's a butt joke. It's like, yeah, it's a theme for me. Like, personally, it's not as strong as animated theme as something else or even a comedy theme in general, but it's still objectively freakin' Simpsons. Yeah, I'm a nine. All this stuff is a damn good, top thing. I'm actually right there with you. I'm at a nine. If you're asking me, yeah, again, animation, this isn't it. In fact, you know, I had the friends with the Simpson Obsessed, they, you know, taped everyone a VHS, they had them catalog, they had, they'd rewatch until the tapes broke. So I grew up, you know, by osmosis around a lot of Simpsons people. So regardless of if I loved them or not, they're in my subconscious, it's Simpsons. Simpsons. You know, if a theme can do wonders in movie and television and video games and pinball, I mean, come on, what are we talking about? It's iconic. Yeah. Personally, you know, my rating, it'd be lower, five-ish, but as far as overall, if we're talking about just theme and pinball, that's a nine. So when I talk gameplay, I have gameplay. It's straight down the middle. You have shots and layout. You kind of segregate these a little bit. My gameplay is just that overall feeling of playing the games, the shots, the layout, not the rules. Not the rules, we'll get to those in a second, but gameplay. Do you like shooting it? Do you have fun? Do you like the kinetics? The thing I do like about Simpson's Pinball Party, number one, is Joe Balcer. He's my boy. Hello! I love me some Joey B. Joe Balcer is so different with all of his designs. Nobody can accuse him of borgin' it up or anything. He's just different. A lot of times, different in not a great way, but he's different. I like different. So I have a lot of fun shooting this game. The gameplay itself, I mean, it's got a really satisfying right ramp, and it has gimmicks that work that keep you coming back for more. Does anybody ever really get tired of getting the ball to jump onto the couch? No. It's got the little flipper up there that makes sense to start modes. I like that. Through the pops, I love through the pop shots. So there's, and it even has that weird Gomez Deadpool flip it around the quickie mark shot. And then the right or the left ramp, side ramp thing, that's a son of a bitch to hit. I would say overall, it's not a great feeling shooter. Objectively, it's just not. It's cramped, it's cluttered, it doesn't feel great like a Steve Ritchie Star Wars. This preview, I would say seven. So this is where I start to go a little downhill with this game. All I had to go on it before I played it was, again, the internet telling me it's the sister to Lord of the Rings. If you want deep, if you want a game, this is it. The Rules again are in a second, but when I got home, the first time I hit the garage shot, once it was working, mind you, I just heard this like clink. I go, oh, is this it? It's clink. Okay, so that's a shot. All right. I see one ramp when I'm playing and yeah, it's fine. It's wide open. I can hit it. Cool. And then these pop bunches, blub, blub, blub, blub, pop, blub, blub, blub. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. I forgot about the pop bunch. I'm hitting this ramp over and over and then I'm shooting up in the garage. And then if The Couch Shot Happnomana Well, you were convincing me a little bit, Jay, because you were saying, because I'm with you. There has to be on every game at least one shot that you're like, it's butter. It feels good. Even if it's not butter, it just feels good. It's tactile. I like that feel. And you're right, on Simpsons, I don't know if there is, because even the couch shot doesn't necessarily feel good. It looks cool and it feels like you've accomplished something. It doesn't feel good. Rules. I'm just going to leave it at that. What do you think? Okay. So, the rules I do respect that during its time, it brought to the industry more things to do on a single game of pinball than most anything else ever created in the history of your time. I complain about loving, you know, I like playing at home. I like moments. This is the answer. This isn't your 90s. You got a multiball or you've got five motors, which one you want to do? This is the add-on crack. And then you can stack it and have benders night after night. That's what this game is rule-wise. So I respect the hell out of it. Now, is it my type of ruleset? No, I like more of a rule set like The Walking Dead that has some stacking elements, but This is a long journey of a game. But I would argue that it's a long journey of a game without really telling you much of a story. It's very episodic, just like The Simpsons, so probably theme-appropriate. But for the life of me, if I've played a game 500 times, which I probably have The Simpsons, and I still don't know how to get to everything, that's problematic to me. That then surpasses, hey, this is cool that it's so deep, I always see something new with, Damn, I've played this game enough. I should probably know how to do everything. And for that reason, rules is kind of a miss for me here. I respect the hell out of it. It's just not my type of rule set. Six. I just feel like I'm stacking modes. I feel like I'm playing Adam's Family on crack. Start a mode. Qualify. Start another mode. Qualify. Oop, alien invasion. Qualify. John Popadiuk, Bob Betor, Knapp Arcade, Ballywin, Straight Down the Middle, Ballywin, It's super deep. For me, the theme, you know, again, we say it's nine. I think that's kind of objectively. If the personal theme to me was a 10, a 20 out of 10, if I was a Simpsons nut, I bet I would give these rules a 10 because I would care. You're absolutely right. I would want to shoot everything. But for me, like you said, I'm getting modes like I'm just lighting the TV up top. Okay, I'm going through the motions. It's not necessarily chopping wood, but it's not far off. Mm-hmm. I'm hitting the loops. I'm hitting itchy and scratchy. I'm just doing stuff, but at no point are the moments pulling me in to like, I can't wait to do this again. I can't wait to show my friend. I can't wait to do these modes. I don't want to get to the wizard mode. I just don't want to keep playing it. There's stuff everywhere, but the stuff everywhere does not pull me in. It's like little mosquitoes just like, here's this, here's that. Get out of here. There's plenty of them. You know how it is like the alien invasion once you get to there it's like a moment you're like oh shit this is awesome but then it feels grindy I'm like shit you mean to tell me if I lose one ball then I have to go back down a step like piss off I already got here just let me keep moving forward or nothing. To be fair it sounds like you've probably owned this longer than me that was the only time I ever owned it which says a lot of I've never owned it again and I never wanted again if pinball machines were free and I had infinite space I'd have it and I'd give it a couple weeks and I'd dig it in I'm going to go ahead and do a little bit of a quick recap of what I've played. But for now, rules are six. From the time I've played, every time it's in an arcade or whatever you want to call it, a barcade, I never play it. Ever, ever, ever. Well, does it work on location? It does not work on location. It didn't even work in my home. All right, visuals. I combine visuals as the whole package. Art, DMD, if you will, lighting, anything that your eyes are taking in. I kind of like to lump them in there. That's a note to self there, Craig. All right, so I'm going to go ahead and do a quick recap of what I've played. I'm going to go ahead and do a quick recap of what I've played. Visuals as the whole package. Art, DMD if you will, lighting, anything that your eyes are taken in. I kind of like to lump them in there. That's a note to self there, Craig. All right. Visuals. The art. Is there anything nice about this art? See, it's tough because during that time the art was good. You get all the characters on the side. It's vibrant, it's bright, it's all yellow. So that was fine. The Screen Printed Playfield That Looked Like A Comic Book That Was Dots Everywhere That Was Faded And Looked Like Shit Too But At That Time That's All We Knew So It's Like Oh Composition-wise You Get The Car The You Know The Old Car And The Headlights But Okay That's Cool Got All Our Fake Favorite Characters The I Don't Know For The Life Of Me Why They Named It Simpsons Pinball Party I Hate That I Just Just Give Me The Simpsons Damn It www.thep Bowman Academy,來回流頻播放網站shop.com The way I see it is that I can see it better than what I could imagine in the future. I can see better than what I can imagine The Valley Company, Subsidiary of Walter Kidde & Co., Inc., Mirco Playfields, Tim Tim Kitzrow, Scott Danesi. The Bible just doesn't match. It's the Simpsons. The Color DMD, fantastic. It's all vibrant. It looks like you're, you know, world under glass. It's Simpsons. I'd give it a 10. Me personally, I have to kind of be objective here, but somewhat subjective because I am talking about my own personal opinion. I'd be around you at a six, but I'm going to meet in the middle, just to be fair. I've shit on this a little bit enough. I'm going to say visuals are an eight. If I take the lights, I take the DMD, I think it's above average. Okay. Audio. I'm just trying to think right now. It's always a problem when I'm trying and I've played this game a lot. I'm trying to think of anything that I remember audio wise about this game. I'm thinking the itchy and scratchy show, but I don't know if they use that in the pinball machine. I know that from the show. What does that say when I don't really notice any of the audio? That damn I can hear the ball going up to the upper playfield. But I don't know if that's a good thing. If I don't remember it, it's not worthy of a high score. And it's a white star, so you know it sounds like shit. Oh yeah, real bad. So it's not high fidelity. It's not, I don't even think they were doing stereo. Six? Six. I'm being nice, I think. I think you are being nice. I'm giving it a five. I'm giving it a five because the only things I do remember, I only remember because they were annoying as shit. The dough... I'm sure there's so many good pull-outs for Simpsons owners though. Yeah. Or for Simpsons fans. That's the objective thing. The one-liners. They probably love it Love everything about it And you know what I what reminded me of this game Where like this game did it right The dough mode you know where everything dope dope dope all the switches Dough dough dough dough You know the mode in Stranger Things? They use a different word. Bullshit. Bullshit. Now that's funny. Now if I'm hitting, if I'm hearing dough a thousand times, like of course, I don't need to hear it that many times. But if I'm hearing a swear word in a pinball machine, I mean, I'm juvenile, that's funny. So yeah, I don't remember. I'm assuming that the theme is there. It's just been so long. I bet the Simpsons theme is there, but of course you'd have to. It's default. To me, I don't remember anything but the annoyances of it and the sound of hitting that garage. Bang. I just hear the dough now. Dough, dough, dough. Dough, dough. I do remember that now. It's one of those games that I turn down and it's White Star. Wow. Turn it down. So I'm at a five. All right, let's add these shits up. I don't think I think this is the correct objective score that people were thinking. For me, it fits exactly how I feel. So for me, I'm at a 64, which that is a solid D. I think to a lot of people, this is an A, B at the worst. What are you at? I'm at a 69. Oh, shit. You're at a D plus. Here at a D+. It's .9 out of 10 or a 69 out of 100, which is flirting with a C, but boy, you're still stupid. It's a D. You didn't quite get there. You're below average. If we didn't go through these categories and someone just asked you, what do you think you personally would give this game? You know, regardless of your numbers, what does your gut tell you? I would tell people, I think objectively, for the time that it was released and sustainability today, it is a B game. It's a B game. For me, the way I like to play, the way, what I look for in a pinball machine, longevity, it's right at it. A 6.9 is how I feel about this game. That's why it's not in my collection currently and hasn't been in quite some time. I'm in the same boat. If there's a Simpsons fan asking me, hey, should I get this game? Absolutely. You're going to love it. If you want a deep game, you love Simpsons. This is for you. If you're, you know, someone who's played a long time and, hey, do you want to go to the, you want to go to the arcade and play Simpsons? I don't because to me it's a below average game. Not in the era of... We've got to talk about the approachability of this. It's up there with like an Addams Family. Everybody can come to this game and have fun because they can physically hit a garage. They know it from the series. They can get it up into the mechanism that holds the balls on the couch. It's just so visually... people just get it. And like you said, it's got the wide open right ramp that people can hit and it will give you multiballs. It'll give you Plenty of multiballs to keep going. So this is right up there with like, hey, you like pinball? I used to play that Simpsons game. You ever play the Addams Family game with the hand that comes out of the box? That's a cool game. I bet that's a good game. You got that game? You like Simpsons? Yeah, I just struggle. I don't like this game. I'm sorry to all the pinball Simpsons fans out there. I'm not trying to rag on it to be cool. Fuck Simpsons, man. I think we just shit on this game. We did. We shit all over it. We shit all over one of the most popular. I'm going to be down a level because I don't think I've rated anything this low on my own show. You know, I've mentioned it in an episode or two ago. I think this is a busted ass system I got. I think I have a busted ass rating system because even Lord of the Rings... Every system is busted. Even my favorite game, I think I only got like a B plus and to me that's an A plus game. Oh, hey, speaking of news, I said, you know, last time I got it was the fourth time I'm keeping it. Yeah, I sold that shit today. It's gone. That didn't take you very long. Get out of here. What are you doing? I destroyed the ring. You know, I did a few times like, oh, yeah, wait, it takes 45 minutes to even get anywhere. See you later. The first time when you when you don't own that game for a while you've owned it before and you get it back you destroy the ring and like you got a chub you're like dude this game is freaking awesome like I this game is badass and then like you blow it up again maybe a couple days later and you're like now this game is still pretty cool and then you like try to look up for it and then you notice a couple days later you're like shit I'm not playing this game really and like I'm not gonna get to the Valinor so I guess games worth a lot of money I could get And then there it goes. If you think to yourself as a pinball collector, I could get a instead of this, that damn thing is on its way out. It's not coming back. That's exactly what happened to me. It's going to be gone. Exactly what happened to me. And you know, it demands a pretty penny. And almost everyone out there, it's modded to high heaven like mine was. So those things, I mean, they're up there. I mean, I always, whenever I own Lord of the Rings, I always bring it back in because I tell myself, I'm going to do custom job up on this. I'm gonna strip the playfield, I'm gonna get a new playfield art cabinet, I'm gonna put the pin sound in it. It's fucking Lord of the Rings, like this is one of my favorite themes ever and it's just such a good, I'm gonna do it this time. Yep. And then I get in, I'm like fuck that, no. I'm good. I don't wanna mess with that. Like, I'm gonna let Stern vault the damn thing and I'll buy it then. What do you think? You think they will? I mean everyone wants it, including me. If they vault it, I'd buy it in a second. I struggle with the White Star because it's a White Star. John Popadiuk, Bob Betor, Knapp Arcade, Well, do you want to, you know, this is usually where I close things out. You want to close this thing out with me? Oh, hell yeah. You haven't kicked me off yet. Well, hey, you know. And you know what? I'm not, I don't know when this is airing, but I didn't do the pinball show this week again because hashtag where's the media, right? But so I was like, fuck it, I won't do it again this week. How about that? So yeah, thanks for letting me hang out and do this. I don't know when you're releasing it, but this will be my substitution for not having A, a TPS show this week. We got the pinball party now. That's right. Maybe next time we can talk about all, Oh my gosh. I got so many strong takes for James Bond Stern. Oh, wait until you hear them. Coming soon. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, what, what do we get in this game? What am I going to get this game? Oh, look at you now. You do want to talk about, Oh, we got, I don't want to talk about it, but. You know, tell me I was, I was prepping for last week sales day and then all of a sudden, yeah, you got blue balls. Yeah! And this is just, hey, you know how we were going to release it Tuesday? Well, we're not now. I'm like, oh, okay, well, so when are we signing back up for that? TBD? What? Get the fuck... I got to wait. I don't... When are dealers going to see it? You don't know? Wow. Okay. Oh, so the rest of the internet is seeing it with official pictures popping up. Well, no, no big deal. Just sit back here and wait for Gary, Gear Bear to tell me how much it is. You know how many emails I get every damn day? How many can I get one of your first premiums? How many LEs you getting? What's the price on them? Is it really going to go up that much? And I'm like, sadly, I get to answer every one of these with the same amount of time it's going to take to actually give you the answers, which I don't have. So all I can say is I don't know. Oh. Well, I think maybe you answered it. For the next few days, that is the – if anyone is going to email any questions, send you any texts, the answer is I don't know. I simply don't know. You know, there seems to be some growing positive hype, including myself. I, you know, it's Gomez. There's some weird things in a good way going on. Like it's not, oh, what is going on here? There's something new. George Gomez is a genius of of this industry, and I think he will go down as one of the Mount Rushmore figures. I really do. I mean, throw Harry Williams in there, throw all of just the most iconic, prolific people in this industry. Historically, I think George Gomez will be in there. He's my homie gomey. But with everybody, even my closest friends, I'm gonna bust their balls a little bit and I'll give a strong take here. I think it's a requirement for George Gomez brain to always include in his gameplays, he can have the most beautiful geometry and design. Oh, just I'm thinking a Deadpool, I'm thinking Lord of the Rings. He has some of the greatest shots in all of pinball, but every one of his games requires One of the worst fucking shots ever designed in pinball. Every game, Gomez, every Gomez game has one shot that is just a head scratcher like, George, like were you super stoned? Like what, what is that colossus shot doing there? That is the worst. So every George Gomez game always has one. I'm fearful that that shot in James Bond is going to be that third flipper to the ramp. We'll see. So you're saying the ramp on the right side and the upper left flipper, that shot to that ramp, you're saying it might be a clunker? Looks like a dead end shot, so we'll see how it flows. It looks like the same kinetic satisfaction that I'm gonna not get when I hit the right ramp on Lord of the Rings. You know, we disagree on that one. I like... What? Oh yeah. Oh yeah, but only... You like when your ramps need a cabinet as one of their sides? I think the design, dog shit. Whoever, Gomez, it's bad design. But there's something about with the right flipper. If I hit it with the left flipper, I don't care. The right flipper backhanding it, for some reason to me, I don't know what it is. I love it. Tim, the other way around, I think if you ever shot in that game, it's probably genius, except for that right ramp. I'm like, what? Like the Legolas shot, top ten ramps of all time. The feel of that thing. Tim Tim Kitzrow, Scott Danesi, The Valley Company, Subsidiary of Walter Kidde & Co., Inc., Mirco Playfields, Tim Tim Kitzrow, Scott Danesi. The snake oil salesman that some dealers are sorry for throwing shade out there but like I know I can't get my buddies a first pro because I was going locations so people know not to contact me I know that this far into the game I'm not gonna get enough premiums in the first round to get them a premium if they're messaging me a week after it's announced it's not gonna happen I'm not gonna lie to you and tell you you know what yeah yeah man I think we probably I think we're gonna be able to squeeze you no it's not gonna happen I would rather tell the truth Thank you for watching.
