All gather round, he's on the rebound, Hear the sound of our buddy Elodie Ettore, Pinball Nouts rejoice, He's tugging pinball, craft beer and coffee, Miff the syrup and honey, Homestead life with his family and the random tangents, Stories of his boys, He's on the poor man's pod network, We're gonna get more listeners, For the pinball show, Pinball Nerds Podcast Coming to you from beautiful River Higgarts, Nova Scotia. I would like to play a game. Find the nearest bottom of Kessler's and drink one shot for every year you have carelessly spent your meaningless existence on this pathetic wasteland of human inhabitants we call Milwaukee. If you do not, the next time you plunge your pinball machine, it will activate a trap that will cut your legs off, making it that much harder for you to reach the bottles on your top shelf, forcing you to drink Kessler's for the rest of your sad little life. You have a choice. Do it or don't. I don't fucking care. Happy birthday. Welcome back pinball nerds to episode 500 and something of your fifth favorite pinball podcast. My name is Orbital Albert and I was just too lazy to look up what episode I'm on right now and it's been so long I frankly don't remember. But what you just heard now was an email that is hot off the presses into pinballnerds at All of these are on the Pinball Network website at gmail.com. And it just says at the bottom, From Jigsaw. So I don't know who that is, I think they were a little harsh to our leader here on the Poor Man's Pinball Network, obviously the one and only Drew. It's Drew's birthday today, so, Happy Birthday to Drew. Alright, so listen, I may have reached out to a couple of the Trad members and asked them to, you know, maybe give me a, you know, a little shout out or a birthday quote or something like that. And I'm not gonna lie, it was very last minute, I didn't get a lot of responses, but this creepy frickin' thing that I got that...meaningless existence! He said Drew had a meaningless existence. Who is this from? Who is this...who would make this? Doctor McClugger gouvernement intelligence missionary discography m infection Soupler the you according to and directed then there I don't know what's there, but whoever sent me this, it's really mean. I've got to listen to it one time. I mean, the production value is great, because it does actually sound like it's the guy from Saw and Jigsaw, but I mean, it's a little scary. And then he was talking about Kessler's, like, oh, you chop your legs off so you can... First of all, the worst part about getting your legs off, chopped off, is not having to drink Kessler's forever. I've never had Kessler's, but it sounds like it's pretty darn tootin' good, or it's at least at the very least, mid. Nail polish remover or barn varnish stripper. You know what I'm saying? It's better than that. I hear though that Kessler's is so strong it can actually strip a snail's shell off it. Anyways, I've gone off topic. What else would you expect? Let's hear from Jigsaw one more time and take a listen. I don't know. Maybe one of you out there can figure out whose voice this is or who would have the I don't know. I don't know. I mean, I thought Kessler's was great. I know Drew's great. I thought Milwaukee was great. I thought this was a little uncalled for. Now, maybe this is just a playful chirp and they're actually friends with Drew. That's probably what it is. One of those crazy rascals in the poor man's pinball tribe. One of those tribe members getting all crazy. I don't know. It could be, but let's listen to it one more crime. I would like to play a game. Find the nearest bottom of Kessler's and drink one shot for every year you have carelessly spent your meaningless existence on this pathetic wasteland of human inhabitants we call Milwaukee. Wait, one shot for every year? Like, Drew's a couple years younger than me, I think he's getting, I don't want to, you know, I don't want to out him because maybe not everyone here has him on Facebook, but I'm 43, he's a couple years younger than me, so that's, he's got to be getting close to 40, so that's like, 40 shots? Now I know Drew can drink, but 40 shots? That's a, like, that's a lot of shots. Now if you said like 40 shots over like, you know, three nights, if you did a three night If you do not, the next time you plunge your pinball machine, it will activate a trap that will cut your legs off, making it that much harder for you to reach the bottles on The New Panthers Well he did say happy birthday at the end so at least there's that right am I right he did say happy birthday at the very end and that's at least a positive. Now Tim the Lion Man Lee was kind enough to send me again this is very last minute I should have let People know weeks in advance. I'm sorry I didn't, Drew. It's not because I don't love you. I, I always take... People know I've been doing shows for, what, five... I think, actually, it's closer now to six years, I've actually been doing pinball podcasts. And, uh... Oh, are you heading out, Owen? Yeah. Okay, come over here. Can you just, for everybody listening, uh, you haven't been on the show in, like, about 100 episodes. You're on around episode 420 to do the 1UP episode. Can you just come over here and speak right into the microphone And tell Drew, Happy Fricken Mother of Birthday. Happy Birthday Drew. That was good. Thanks buddy. Wait, was that you that you sent that to my email? No, shh, you're not supposed to tell them. Oh, okay, okay. Alright, have fun. Alright, see you later. Have a good night bud, I love you. Love you too. See you tomorrow. Tomorrow? Yes. Wait, oh no, you're coming home tonight. Good. Okay, yeah, we're going to Halifax tomorrow. For everyone listening, in today's show we're not just going to be doing Drew's birthday, we're actually going to be talking about a very venomous centaur that goes on a space hunt for the masters of the princess bride. That's right. I didn't know how to cohesively put that all together in a sentence, so I tried my best. But happy birthday to you Drew, the one and only, probably honestly may have even saved all of our family's lives. I've told this story before, I'm going to tell it again. Financially we were very, very, very tight and we really needed new snow tires and literally the day before Drew put in our biggest purchase ever, we've ever had at Angry Alpaca Coffee and Tea, we had slid through a stop sign and almost down into a ditch and even though I was only driving 20, 25 kilometers an hour, for the Americans that's like, I don't know, like 15, it's not very fast and my brakes completely just, like they locked up and my Go Buckeye And I literally said, we're not driving until we get more snow tires. And we went directly home. And thank God, like the angel the man is, he flew in from Milwaukee and he said, let Orbe have snow tires! And he bought tons of awesome coffee, which you guys are going to support Drew at Expo because apparently he's bringing the coffee there. I suspect it might be all gone by now. Even if he's just going through like one bag a week, he's got to be done like three quarters of it. So, that's, I know our family, just now there's four of us here drinking coffee. I don't know how, himself or how many family members drink coffee and of course we drink it like we're fiends because we are coffee fiends. We're coffee nerds as well. But anyways, if you are going to be going to Expo, make sure you save your massive dollars to go give it to Drew and buy some coffee there. And if not, maybe we will even talk about if you need to get it earlier than that, how you can do that later in the show. During the show I'm also going to be quickly talking about my trip back to Ontario, which I leave for tomorrow. I'm going to be talking about my trip to Prince Edward Island, where I visited Seven's Pinball-O-Rama, the largest pinball arcade in all of Canada. And then I've got a very, very special guest. I actually have Canada's biggest, arguably, it's arguable, you know, the top people, the people near the top, they would argue about, you know, who's wag the dog, like black flag antics, who's really at the top, you know. Kandas Biggest Princess Bride Fans Thanks for watching. I'm David David Van Es, and I'll see you next time. All of these things are in this Venomous Centaur. We're going to start by talking about Centaur. We're going to open it up with five rad and one bad. So, rad number one, and I want to get this out of the way because this is something that was true even with the old Centaur. People who have been listening since day one or even since I think episode 100, whenever it is, whenever it is Munster's Pinball Game Out with artwork, beautiful artwork by Christopher Franchi, you heard me say, For years and years and years I had told every person who would listen that Centaur is the most beautiful pinball machine ever. Now I have a little bit of a soft spot for black and white. I love black and white art. Some of my favorite sports cards are like the Bo's nose like Bo Jackson with him doing the black and white photo montages back in the early 90s. A lot of my favorite comic books, my favorite variants are like the black and white virgin variant with, you know, it doesn't say Marvel on or what episode or how much it costs. There's no UPC symbol on it. And so Franchise, you know, of course, John Borg was the creator of the machine, but the artwork I think on the premium, which is the black and white, is still to this day my favorite artwork. But the original Centaur, which of course they're using the original Centaur artwork, is just incredible. It's still probably to this day, I don't know, maybe my third or fourth favorite. A lot of rad zombie yeti artwork packages have came out since then. I would have to sit down and really look at it. But of course, you know, up in those talks would be Godzilla, Foo Fighters, probably, I think, I don't know if Avengers would squeeze into that, but maybe from an art perspective. Anyways, I've gone off topic, but the artwork on the original is incredible. The gameplay on the original is incredible. It's got that outside, you know, it's orbital, I love orbits. When you shoot that outside left orbit that's really low, it goes up into the captive ball. And I've been saying for years, make captive balls great again. I just don't want a captive ball that can only do one thing. You've got to have, you know, different, you've got to have, well, for instance, in that one, it's got all the stand-up drop targets and then at the back that other target. Well, if you don't get a clean, clean shot to that captive ball, you cannot hit the target at the very top. I think there's a stand-up at the very top after all the drop downs. And so, but hitting the bottom few is ridiculously easy. You can have a messy ricochet shot and it easily hits it. So the gameplay is incredible. The shots are, everybody knows as well with Jack Danger's masterpiece, I'll say so far, Foo Fighters' masterpiece so far, it has the dead, oh geez, the dead bounce feature where the ball can come back in by hitting that thing. You've got a very kind of, I won't say exactly similar because this is knocking it in obviously The Ball is coming back into the in lane if you've never seen it and that really brings nudging into play that really brings like every every in lane you get to keep but some outlanes you also get to keep if you play your cards correctly and you've got the machine moving and you nudge it just properly you can get it back in and I love that feature as well so it's not just the artworks incredible it's not just that the gameplay is incredible it's not just that the shots are all fun like Like they're all there. There's every type of shot you could possibly want other than arguably a ramp shot which are a little overrated. But there's so many fun shots. Everybody agrees the gameplay is great. A lot of people have called it a tournament darling in the past. I don't know if that's originally because the artwork was great or because the original code's pretty decent and doesn't have a lot of flaws or if it's just because the gameplay and the shots are fun. Probably a mixture of all of those things because that's what makes great pinball. But you didn't come here to listen to me to review a 30 year old pinball machine called Centaur. You want to hear about Haggis Pinballs 2.0, which recently just came out and it appears as if the sales have gone very well. I don't know if it's fully sold out yet, but it appears as if the sales have gone very well. So number two on that list is Marty's Code. So Marty Robbins, also a Final Round Pinball Podcast on TPN, formerly of Head to Head with Ryan Say, one of my favorite pinball podcasts of all time, right up there, I'll tell you that. You know, he's there and something that Marty's done very well is he's done a great job in the past on Fathom implementing the rules and everyone that I've spoke to says they're blown away by how awesome the new Fathom rules are. So I've got to assume because that was Martin's kind of like first little dip into doing code that he's going to do even as far as game I don't think he's coding it, but he's doing the gameplay and the rules, of course, right? So as a rules engineer, I think that was his first time, and I think he'll do even better on this one. And with just such a wide variety of shots, there's going to be so many fun implementations. I read everything about the multiball modes and the wizard modes and the mini wizard modes and just how much was added to it. So I think that part of it sounds really fun as well. In Marty, we trust, right? Number three, basically they're built like tanks. This is no pun on Galactic Tank Force, but I know that the playfields are virtually indestructible. I don't know if it's just because every owner of a Haggis just is like most of them are Australian, they feel like they can't say a word bad about it, or if it's just true, but I hardly... I've heard a couple people have a couple minor problems, but every time that you take a heavy steel ball and you bash it around in a physical playfield, especially using the strength of the flippers we have nowadays, I'm not sure if you've heard of the Slam Tilt, but I've heard that they're built very, very well. I think maybe Bruce from Slam Tilt had issues with Fathom and Kelts, so I could be wrong, I could be wrong, but he's really the only person I've heard mention those issues. So for the most part, they're built very, very well, and at the very least, they look extremely pretty. And that should have been, if I was going to do a number 6 for Rad, it would be, how pretty all the Haggis pinball machines are. Keltz aside, Fathom was incredibly beautiful. Fathom already started out as a beautiful pin and they made it even better between like the blue lights that came out the bottom and just every attention to detail was absolutely incredible and no matter what you can say about Haggis, love him, hate him or not, the attention to detail is beyond. It's a step above what every other pinball company is doing right now and it's something that certainly sets them apart if nothing else. Okay, number four, number four is the rarity of this mofo. This is going to be super rare, so there's only going to be 50 of the super duper expensive ones. I know a lot of people are joking around about the motorcycle helmet and the leather jacket and everything else, but these are things considered collectibles, okay? So I don't just deal in sports cards and Pokemon and Garbage Pail Kids, but I also deal with, you know, I watch a lot of like the pawn shop show, Pawnbrokers or whatever it is. Do you remember that pawn show that we watched some time? What's that called? Is this called pawn shop or something? Pawn Stars! There's drop target Danielle. Now, I hope she's not jealous because I am gonna have the top princess bride guest on later and, you know, I wouldn't want the two to, you know, get competitive towards each other because they're both pretty rad though. They're both pretty rad. We'll get into that in a second. There's only 50 of the high model. I personally, yes, I wouldn't care about it, but you see all the time on Pond Stars people bring in friggin' anything motorcycle or Harley. You can find four, five, $600 Harley Davidson just t-shirts, especially if they're more the collectible or the early runs when they didn't have the official Harley tag in it and they're just doing a limited edition run. All these things will have a better chance, especially 5, 10, 15 years down the road if it's kept in decent condition, whether or not Haggis is still around then, which I think they will be. I hope they will be. But they will be rare. Because the high end version of one, I don't care about the jacket, I don't care about the helmet. They certainly have value. I think they look okay in your arcade. I can see myself putting up a really cool helmet in my arcade. I don't know about like, I don't know about a cool jacket, but maybe it could be cool. Maybe it could be cool. Maybe you could frame it or something so it's not just like a jacket. I'm just not going to leave it like just, I'm not just going to start wearing a motorcycle jacket because I have one or maybe I will, who knows. Maybe I have to buy the motorcycle to go with it. I think it's cool. It's a little bit gimmicky, but honestly I would be buying it just because I just love that machine so much and I do think if there's only 50 there's a better chance that they can hold their value. Subtitles wygląda 3 zu demze inok不過ol papaiya Broad 또 keца sekot 0Baby puedaור sacrifices consists dinas mengiz ödemä doctrina And the other one, there is only 250 so either way you're going to get a rare game whether or not your super high end version or medium nella mense Demi без kompediala ke instan superior Yay! One, number five you're and I cannot I cannot I cannot minimize how important this is to this game you're getting two games in one number five r- and I can not I can not I cannot I cannot minimize how important this is to this game you're getting two games in one SubtitlesexpensiveINT this game this video Over I might actually get to see him in London, Ontario, also known as Pinball Shenanigans on YouTube. Make sure you go over, like that, watch some of his videos. Probably my favorite video is seeing him do like kind of the vlog, bloggy stuff when he went to Yagpin last year. And speaking of Yagpin, while I've gone off topic, Yagpin, the only Stern Circuit Pro event here in Canada this year. I am not going for several reasons, but the largest reason is because the only week I could go down and be guaranteed to see my dad, I'm a dad who's getting married at the end of the summer and is super busy, plus my sister Janelle and my sister Melinda. The only way I could get to see all of my sisters and their kids when they were going to be on holidays and or not gone out of town was this exact week that I'm going. So I feel bad that I'm missing Yagpin. I can't afford to go to Yagpin. Like I can only go for a trip every couple months. Like I can't afford to go to Yagpin and go back to London and it was far more important And then I went back to London on send go to see my niece who I haven't got to meet, my sister's daughter, my two nephews who I've barely seen since they were born and get to go back and see a lot of my other friends. But I do feel bad that I may miss out on seeing the likes of like Shawn Russell, Nick Greenan, I'm sure Jeff Yoles is going to be way too busy and be there which I don't know if I don't know if I would have necessarily made it up to Kitchener Water or Luguelph kind of area and get to see like Joe Chervino of Pinball Degenerates and Jeff Teolis and all the other people up there. I don't know if I would have been able to get up that area this time just because it's pretty packed in in just seven days. If you don't go home for like half a decade and you haven't seen any of your friends or any of your family or any of your old coworkers or anyone that means anything to you other than Matt who came down last year for one weekend, you'll be pretty busy. So I'm going to be pretty busy, but let's go back to Haggis Pinballs 2 in 1. On the Pinball Degenerates note though, before I switch over here, Joe Cherveno's, if you're not part of Pinball Degenerates on Facebook, go join it. It's incredible. I think it might be private by now, I forget, but I'm sure if you're listening to this, there's a very good chance you are, and check out the rad new posters. Go get yourself one of those posters. If not, I think I'm the very first one in the third row down. As far as the Poor Men's Pinball Tribe, I know Glenn the Skateboarder. I'm shocked I didn't get a message from Glenn the Skateboarder. I did specifically ask him and Tim. I'm shocked he didn't like send me a message or anything like that. I really thought for sure Glenn loves doing all these sound things. I thought for sure he'd send me a soundbite, but that's too bad. We'll hear from him. He can't send stuff every time I ask him. Geez, the guy already does the theme song and has helped on every other show, so why would I, you know? But anyways, I do digress. Ian Harewer, good friend of the show, has been on I think four or five, maybe six times Taylor O' dados a igen atti jer navigasi batroggia assat recibi a tire miss a tyra jr Financial она partnersnechte anytime converses по сей сант.com So Joe, if you're listening, set one aside. I should try to remember to send you a message to get one. But also on there is Glenn the Skateboarder, Stephen Silver's on there from P3 Multimorphic Course who does the animations and such. He's on there. I'm sure there's more that I'm forgetting about. The Cliff Alberts on there, not part of the tribe, but certainly the master of the trolls or what did he win for his award? What is degenerate was the most the trolliest troll of all times the best bridge Leonard learning under I don know anyways cliffs out there living his best life thanks for coming on the show buddy two games in one for Haggis so let go back to talking about this if you were to put fathom side by side with the Beatles yes there it a slightly wider orbit on the left yes the repeatable loop is slightly easier yes there a little sneaky shot there on the left if you do some drop downs but essentially if you look at the overlay they nearly identical What is the main difference between the Beatles and besides the artwork and the animation and the sound The main difference just in gameplay is the code. And nobody on planet Earth would tell you that the code for the Beatles, even though it is somewhat shallow for a modern game, is not five times more fun than Sea Witch. See which and see which. I love you. I love you, see which. Don't come from the ocean and look at me and turn me to stone. No, I think that's someone else. But don't, don't come, that's Medusa. That's a different pinball machine. Yes, Drop Target Danielle is shaking her head no, then shaking her head yes. Okay, we're good. I've got my fact checker here live. This is a big production here in the studio. It's not just me sitting on a white leather couch sweating my newts off because it's like 40 degrees here. But it's hot everywhere, so I'm not even going to complain. To Dan the Man down there in Arizona, I know it's been hot as heck And then Rachel, his wonderful wife, she's actually been going getting some operations and some surgeries done, I believe on her knee or her leg. So shout out to you, speedy recovery. Hopefully that gets taken care of soon. What I'm getting at with the two games in one is that these particular pins serve many purposes. So I've said this before, if you like, Beatles is often used in modern tournaments, but because it has no ramps, because it has fairly shallow code, or at least closer to what we call a pinball, We consider like mid 90s or early 90s solid state code even then it would be considered somewhat shallow but still very fun addictive don't get me wrong I play Beatles all the time it's been a record to Moncton absolutely love it I'm just suggesting that in comparison to me the see which code like a 3 out of 10 the Beatles code like a solid 7 maybe even arguably an 8 just for its an 8 when you're playing with a whole bunch of people because it's a fast game you can get games done quickly but yet it's still challenging and it's fun and I I love watching it live streamed in tournaments. Some of the top players can repeatedly hit that loop just too many times, but I think they've kind of, they've dwarfed that in the code a little bit. Anyways, when you're buying Centaur 2.0, you're basically buying two games. For the same reason I love P3 Multimorphic, many of us run out of space before we run out of money, or even when we've ran out of money, we eventually still, especially if Here's some really nice pinball events during the socially diverse of my mentality, stat honey. I've been gone on my month-long hiatus, which I've taken almost every year of my six years doing this, by the way. Sorry it was unannounced. I should have let you guys know. It was somewhat unexpected. I got crazy busy at my other two, if not three, side hustles. As many of you know, I don't have a regular job, per se. I just do a whole bunch of side hustles, and they kind of all hit at the same time. Homesteading's been crazy as hell. Running the Collectibles Cafe's been busy, and then just angry alpaca all over. At some Saturdays, we have up to three locations. The other part of the reason I went back to Ontario this week, it was one of the only weekends I could get someone to cover me at the cafe who is trained and able to do that. So thank you to that person who's going to be doing that for me. Wink wink, nudge nudge. She's sitting over there, I may not have heard that time. But my wonderful and ever patient drop target Danielle, my wonderful wife, is taking over the cafe. But for that to happen, I had to find a day that Hayden wasn't working on a Saturday, that Owen didn't have a big soccer tournament, that they could both go take over our other two spots at the same time. So, anyways, I've gone off topic, two games in one, my favorite overall thing about Centaur, not gonna lie. Is it better for the environment to be able to have two games in one because therefore you're producing less waste? Yes! But that's not the main reason. It's because of how inexpensive it is and how it takes up less room. Like if you're, like in my arcade, I'm gonna have a tiny little small like wall arcade, I'm going to have a popcorn thing in one corner, I'm going to have the world's tiniest little small bar in the other side with a tiny little, like I might even have one of those wiener rollers, the cute little Oscar Mayer wiener rollers by the popcorn stand, and then I'm going to have a tiny little bar with just a tiny little, like enough to keep maybe a six pack freezing cold, like a cool little, I don't know, fridge, mini fridge. And then I have enough room for three pins. Well, if I have one of those pins be a Whirlwind 2.0 or be a Centaur 2.0 or be a P3 Multimorphic, then I've got two games in one. Or with P3 you could even have three, four, five games in one in the same amount of space. So for someone like me, an option like this in the future is very, very viable and exciting. But that brings us around to the least exciting part. Not only is the shipping outrageously expensive to the United States, my guess is it's even Demian거든요 is lagging behind Dimitrios Morozovich Silent on the Max Res Sonce aganistazama and I don't know if these are packages that we're looking to use just because the key groups in some cases change by, I think, that ice cubes outside or outside. I guess, you know, it becomes a factor in some cases that we're needed more and then Like, you know, I'm paraphrasing here, but like they almost collapsed. They almost pulled like a member of Michael Scott in the office. I declare bankruptcy. Michael, that's not how you declare bankruptcy. Oh, so that probably blew your ears out. That was I'm sorry. I'm sorry. That was not nice. I should have warned you. For those of you haven't watched the office and didn't know, Michael was about to scream there. But he was saying how close to like packing it in they were during COVID, how tight it was. And that's part of the reason why it took so long. And so whenever you hear a company saying they're on the verge of claiming bankruptcy not too long ago, you start to wonder, well, I'm sure you're doing better now, but like, you know, can you, can you ever fully get back to where you were? And I don't know, because between shipping costs and how much even the whole thing about Kelts is was how affordable it was. And now it's what doubled in price for the entry level or darn tootin close. So, you know, I believe it's... I would have to do the conversion, but as a Canadian it costs a lot more for the shipping. And then on top of that, so there's all these arguments for like, you know, what could be the one bad thing about it. And it's none of that. Because you're getting two in one, the price is even arguable for the lower end that it's probably worth it because you're kind of getting two games in one, okay? So that's not any of the one bad thing I wanted to say. These are things all the other people are saying. My whole shtick was I didn't like that the high end one was colorized. Because I think the most beautiful part of that whole thing is the fact that it's black and white and it's contrasting and the little tiny bits of color that you do see here or there just like are blown out and look incredible because all the rest is black and white. Now do I think they did a bad job colorizing it? No. Do I think that it looks horrible? No. When I'd originally known it was that, I might have been ok with it. I'd never seen the black and white version. But in my head, it like... hurts my brain. You know when you have like an earworm of a song, even if it's like a T. Swift song or something, or an Ed Sheeran and you can't stop singing it? And you know you don't like that song, and it just haunts your brain. It crawls around there in your ear and you know what I'm saying? So this is like the same thing. When I see that I was like, NO! Like, my brain was just... It was not in a good place. So now the other asterisk that we would have to say here is that Du hast, du hast mich desfahr, Rammstein schlacken schlüben haar, Rebendorfen schnebbenbu. They did literally, that song is like, I don't know if they did this, I assume Marty wouldn't do this, I don't even know if it's illegal yet with copyright laws, but Martin knows And I'm going to be talking about a guy who knows music and especially he knows electronica music and he especially especially knows electronica music from Germany which is part of Europe which I know he loves Eurovision he's talking about that probably more than I'm talking about craft beer goats or hitting the vape combined okay so this man knows Ramstein he knows do host in that song is literally if you took that do host song and you put it to AI and you said use these lyrics Boy A Cycle! The Valley Company, Subsidiary of Walter Kidde & Co., Inc., Mirco Playfields, Tim Tim Kitzrow, Scott Danesi. Sing Chestnuts roasting on an open fire. And or whatever, you know, it's not just Christmas songs, but it's, you know, it was around Christmas when they did it. So, you know, and it will come out sounding perfectly like this Anup guy in the style of like how his songs would even sound and all the background and everything else and how they switch it up a little. But you know, for sure, it's not him because he's never sang that song and people in the chat are just saying, make him sing this song, make him sing this song. And so you can do that. There is programs that allow you to do that. Now maybe what more than likely would happen is not that AI was used to make that. To me, I'm sorry Marty, I'm sorry. To me personally, I listen to very little electronica now. I had a short raver phase for like four years from maybe 18 to 22. And again, Rammstein is not really a raver song. It's more like electronica with industrial and techno kind of mixed together with rock and metal. It's like you took Rammstein and you tried to copy it to make that song and then you just threw in the lyrics. So I think the song was kind of lame. I'm sorry Haggis. I'm not, I'm trying not to be unkind. I'm not always unkind. I said five kind things before I said any unkind stuff. So anyways, let's leave Haggis at that. We've got to move on to Venom or else I'm not going to have time for my guests here. Okay? So, and I want to let you guys on with your night as well. Let's go over Venom quickly. We know Venom is coming for sure. Stern just released the trailer. What I know is, and I'm sorry as a comic book nerd I'm about to say this, and Drew it's your birthday, like Drew is like, this is not the birthday present he wanted. I'm sorry Drew, I'm sorry to all the Venom lovers, I'm not a huge fan of Venom. So like it's weird because I do like Harry Potter and I do like Lord of the Rings and they're all about like magic and wands and weird mystical stuff. They're like the kind of two that I guess I go for, but in comics I really like like and I'm like ro long y'all wait Hey there all right hated so this tour the oh god diz h3 sport 0 SimpleDcaM I'm going to read the whole freaking thing because time is of the ash. Venom is a character appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. The character is a sentient alien symbiote with an amphorus liquid-like form who survives by bonding to a host, usually human. This dual-like form receives enhanced powers and usually refers itself to Venom. Stop Target. Is there any way you could pass me a little drinky poo? I'm sorry. I forgot to grab a drink and I'm like, I'm so parched because it's almost 40 degrees smellsiest which is like, I don't know, what is it, like 105 or something? It's a lot in fair night. Anyways, if I could have any drink, iced coffee would be lovely if there's some there, a small one. So thank you. You rock. Make sure it's angry. I'll pop packa. Put away that nabob till we're off the air, hun. No, NACOFTA later. I can laugh out of her for that one. Okay, so anyways, it's really super duper nerdy, but it's a weird alien that usually goes into humans, but it doesn't always go into humans, and it's gone into like 15 different people over the years, and some of them become big and some of them don't. And do I think the artwork is incredible? Yes. Do I like reading any of the Venom stories? No. Do I own quite a few Venoms? And Spider-Man vs. Venom and Carnage, and Carnage is sort of related to Venom, but Venom is I'm a comic book nerd, okay? But I collect mostly Star Wars, like I said, and stuff which I guess is more grounded in reality than an alien that takes a different life form that's in a suit that goes into other people. It doesn't mean that I won't like the Venom game, because if you had asked me three years ago, oh, would I like a Godzilla themed pinball machine, I would tell you no, and now it's the number one ranked pinball machine on the planet. Because I never really, like maybe when I was babysitting in like grade seven, I think I don't know if there's King Kong. Is that no King Kong's like an ape? I don't know. Godzilla, I watched maybe once or twice when I was a kid. Never got into it at all. Never had any toys for it. Unlike the next thing we're going to talk about, Masters of the Universe. The rumor is here, but we're going to get there in a second. All I want to say about Venom is I can't wait to see what they do with the artwork. It's coming out from Stern and I get really excited for every Stern release other than maybe James Bond. I am into Venom like say more than Galactic Tank Force. I think, you know, a starting ground for a theme is way, way, way better than say, sorry Jersey Jack, sorry Eric, but so well I guess Eric didn't choose it so not sorry Eric. The game sounds like it's really fun and it's deep, but I really, really, really don't like the theme of Godfather so I'm never going to be that excited to play it. Whereas I at least like the theme for Venom. I think the Venom movie kind of fell flat as well. Not sure why. I don't know. Again, maybe just because there's not enough realism in it. Because how can a suit that's an alien talk? Or how do you feel like compassionate or like Stranger Things? Other than Eleven, none of them had special... like Dustin is my favorite Stranger Things character. That's why I dressed up like him at, um, at, uh, for, um, Comic-Con, East Coast Comic-Con. And like he doesn't, like he doesn't have any special powers. If anything, he's the most ordinary, There's a lot of stuff to talk about. Just a little bit of ASMR. You're a legendary guy on the whole freaking planet. Oh my gosh. You're a life saver. Guys, you're going to do one thing that you should never do, which is hear a moment of silence. So I will do a little bit of ASMR just for Jeff Teolas. Really close to the microphone with a little bit of iced coffee. Ah. You can almost taste it. You can almost taste that through the microphone. Angry alpaca sales are going to go through the roof with that. But no, seriously, this is absolutely incredible. Is this light roast, honey? No. Oh, snap. A little bit of the old light roast, which is definitely my favorite for the iced coffee. But okay, let's go back to Venom for a sec. Look, I don't know exactly who is doing it, but I think the artwork is going to be incredible. I hope that they really concentrate on making it a fun theme. My whole shtick is, especially when it comes to superheroes, I'm more of into like say the Avengers or you know, Guardians of the Galaxy because it's really funny and I'm not that much into Venom because it's kind of serious. I hope they take some liberties like they did with Deadpool and they make it funny because Deadpool is funny, Venom is probably not supposed to be funny but I don't care. I hope they took some liberties and they threw some humor in there. The humor in Deadpool is one of my favorite parts. The humor in Guardians of the Galaxy is one of my favorite parts. And speaking of Guardians of the Galaxy, I perhaps have the largest news that I've ever sent out there, and I forgot to give my last news, stupidly. But I just put the deposit down for Guardians of the Galaxy, and according to my bud there, Mr. Pat, who is the New Brunswick, Pat Harrington, who is the New Brunswick champion, was able to go down there to the North American Championships and represent well for us. He even got to play in Pin Masters with Roger Sharp, Raymond Davidson, and Robert Gagnon, the Canadian former champion. So that's just incredible that he got to do that. I also got to go with Pat to PI. We're gonna talk about that in a second, but I'm excited to see what happens with Venom. I'm not like, I'm not as excited as if it was gonna be, if they were gonna do like the Spider-Verse. Like the Spider-Verse, like I love Spider-Punk. I love Gwen. Gwen ends up becoming a, it's weird. There's Miles Morales is incredible. The new Spider-Man movie is just doing incredible. And I wish it was more so that than just Venom. I wish it was more like the Venomverse, I suppose. And maybe it will be. Maybe it will be like Venom and Carnage and they're bringing in Spider-Man and they're bringing in Spider-Punk. Who's to say Spider-Gwen isn't even in it? A lot of my favorite covers in the last, probably of modern comic book collector All of the recent artists are defending Queen conscience. To this day no hoax is annoyed, only longtemps is hubris. Velvet M www.starlink.com http://www.paneoute.com folx9 influence dot com We'll disconnect and we'll say your internet's no internet connection and then you'll have to you know you have to refresh the thing and restart it but other than that like we can all be on the internet at the same time it's so great not yelling the kids for not watching YouTube on anything higher than 360p it's been incredible so we've got lightning fast internet which means I can live stream again so if I can figure out how to do it I will be live streaming in no time could be as little as two weeks guys I'm excited for it I'm going to try to find some type of mid 90s like The Valley Company, Subsidiary of Walter Kidde & Co., Inc., Mirco Playfields, Tim Tim Kitzrow, Scott Danesi. I think they call it like tarmac in the States or like I don't know whatever the black shats is that you drive on. It's not concrete. It's like I think it's I think it's only called asphalt up here or asphalt. But anyways, asphalt, tarmac, whatever you guys could and I'm sure in Australia they call it like, oh we call that the tweaky road. Australia always had some weird cheeky name for things like the variety stores are different. I don't know. Anyways, gone off topic. Let's get back on to my little sheet here. How am I only on page one? All right, next thing we got to talk about after Venom is space. Space Hunt. Okay, so I loved almost everything about Haggis Pinball Centaur 2.0 other than the colorization of the highest model and as well as the song. But for Space Hunt, you know what the best thing of the whole freaking game is? Space Hunt. That freaking song. It's so funny because I feel like why if it's coming out in France for people in French Is it not like, wait, how do you say space hunt in French, hun? Hold on, let me have a sip of my cappuccino while you come up with that. Well, you must know how to say either space or hunt. Yeah, the hunt is la chasse. La chasse? How do you say outer space or space or cosmic or something to do with space? La chasse? Chasse du spas. Chasse du spas. Shas, Dohast, Dohasmestes Fahs. See, now I've got both songs in my head. Full circle. I know, I did come full circle. Jeez, it's sort of like later on tonight. Yeah, let's go on here. Okay, so Space Hunt. Too much pink. Can I just say that? And I like pink. The original shirts, in fact the The only shirts ever made for this podcast are pink. I actually have hot pink shorts. Are they short enough for you? Yeah, they are because I like short shorts and I like pink and it's still too pink for me. I'm even going to go see my boy from my hometown of St. Thomas just outside of Shedden, Ontario. My boy from The Notebook, I forget his name but he's in the new... Ryan Seacrest. Ryan Reynolds? preguntable marriage, the And I said, WRONG! All the pink paint is gone because those nerds over in France were painting all the space on pink. And the only thing worse... the song is great. I love the song. The song is the best part of the whole thing. The price seemed moderately okay if you were over there in Europe, so I get that. And I want these boutique... I was just talking to Don from Don's Pinball Podcast and he was... And I was explaining, like, no, I want Pinball Adventures to succeed. I wish Punny Factory was like a good game people actually wanted that looked fun and didn't have like copywritten callouts in it by a dead brand from 70 years ago, okay? Like when I was two or three, I remember being with my great-great-grandfather Albert, or sorry, great-grandfather Albert Morton, and he was watching like this thing called Nick at Night, which is like Nickelodeon at Night, and they had that... Subtitles by the Amara.org community I don think anyone under 70 would be like oh darn tootin I gotta go get it you you tell me you got a pinball machine and that pinball machine got in it uh Andy from the the or she got the the sheriff there from the sheriff of not now oh I gotta go get that machine no one even no one even that can stand long enough without a cane wants an Andy Dick factory show and then above that the only thing www.willywonka.com The best thing about it is the song. The worst thing about it is that weird earring on the right hand side. It looks like they took the tilt bob out, stretched out the tilt bob like Stretch Armstrong arms, and then they put it in there and they're calling that a toy? You think Stretch Armstrong toys spinning around? From what I can tell, there's nothing there even tracking how many times the ball hits it to make it spin. So what makes that a cool mech? That's your main mech? And it does that? Now I'm being a little bit rough. There's a couple okay things about the game, but really, honestly, Space Hunt? I'd rather play Punny Factory, and that ain't no joke. Now maybe I don't like Punny Factory as much as Don, who can't wait to play this bad boy, but I do love it. Now Don, I've been going a little deep at you, I'm sorry. Actually, Don and I have very similar tastes in pinball other than Punny Factory. Go over and what I love about Don, Don's making a big splash, and this splash, like this is bigger. You remember Flipper? You remember the dolphin Flipper? Flipper! Um, he made a big splash, but I'm done. This is, this is, that was like my type of splash five years when I came out. I made a little splash when I came out as a pinball podcaster. Don ain't no Flipper. Don is like, Free Willy! Remember the moment in Free Willy when the, the giant, uh, whale goes over his head and does the biggest, like, belly flop you've ever seen in the world at the very end? And he's free, and he flew over the whole, you know, obviously it was fake, but Don is doing great. I love that he's trying to do. He's kind of filling out what he wants to do. This is so cool and neat to see. He's not a noob, but he's certainly not like an old seasoned pro like Ron or Bruce from Slam Tilt or something like that. But anyways, if you haven't, obviously you've probably already heard Don on here. So if you want to go listen to his podcast, you're already listening and I hope you are because they're short, they're concise, they're to the point, they're everything that mine isn't. All right. I haven't been on for a month so far. We had a lot to talk about. There was some news that came out and I was honestly just too busy and taking a little break. It's good to have a, you know, when you've done 540 some odd episodes, it's good to take a little break. And when I know I need a little break from pinball, I take a little break. When we had five pinball machines come out in two months, you guys got like 15 episodes. And then when there was nothing happening or very little for a month, I took a little bit of a break. And I'm going for a little bit more of a break. But, and I would say far less than a month, a week to Okay, so I think that's it for this video. I'll be back in the next two weeks. I'll be back with another hot episode. It's going to be fun. It's going to be great. But go over and like Don's Pinball Podcast on YouTube if you haven't yet. He's not only doing live streams on his Facebook page all the time which are legit fun, but he's actually doing like some videos on his YouTube, kind of more a la Kerry Hardy, that kind of direction. And I'm just loving them. So cheers to you Don, all the pinball nerds. Send out the nerd army. Get out there and get yourself a little bit of Don's Pinball Podcast. Podcasts I love to promote when other awesome people in the pinball space are doing something new or something fun and I did think this was cool. Don was doing a livestream on Friday night and at one time I was in there and he had 20 people going at a time or maybe it was like 19 when I came in. All of those people are very good. There's lots of pinball podcasters and lots of pinball people. I'm not going to name them. I don't want to do that. But there are lots of pinball people that have been in pinball for years and years and years longer than me. Far, far, far longer than Don. Sometimes they only get less than that watching on their Twitch. Or even their Facebook. Me myself, when I did the third annual Nerdies this year, I think I had like three people come in and out watching me. So it's very tricky. Don has worked his butt off and worked very hard. And you can tell it's because he's passionate about the game. He's not just trying to do the Patreon. You know, he's a couple people on Patreon. He's not doing it for the Patreon. My man makes good money there. He's the, I know he said he's the, I think he's the after, no, he's the weekend supervisor at the local Burger King. So not only is my man bringing home tons of free Whoppers, but he's also, I would like it if he talked about tournament pinball and getting those Whoppers a little more often. But anyways, shout out to Don. We've talked about Venom. We've talked about Centaur. What's left to talk about other than Masters of the Universe? And I'm going to be quick with this one because I'm getting the side crunk eye from possibly my co-host soon to be here. And of course, remember waiting in the lobby there, we have the Canada's largest Princess Bride fan. So very excited for that. Want to move on to it quickly. But if I, I'm behooved to talk about Masters of the Universe because growing Where Would I oğlum? In the I'm going outside or they would go do something else but I was like no I am a massive eyelets called masters of the universe and Shira's part of the universe and I would stay and watch Shira right now my favorite masters of the universe character everybody thinks it's He-Man it's not He-Man for me it's not Skeletor I'll get you He-Man I'll get you no it is by far Or Orko, that little floating or floating or Orko dude. And I hope and I've mentioned this before with Back to the Future and a couple other titles, Harry Potter I believe. Please, please, please, if Masters of the Universe is really coming out and it's coming from Stern, please, please, please, can we have a floating floating Orko? That would be incredibly rad. And don't make it float like Slimer where you're hanging from a big frickin metal thing and you can see it. Make it floating like you we have done and seen in the past with magnets. We know magnets have came far enough to have something floating. Let's have it floating. I don't care if it's a magnet above a captive ball where the captive ball goes up and it has to hit something that's floating down from the orco and move the orco around there. I don't care what you're doing. Orco for those of you who don't know is a cute little funny strange sounding ghost that kind of like started the show and like kind of was like the... they didn't have cell phones back then believe it or not so it was like he may be like, orco go get cringer and cringer Kringer is my second favorite. Kringer was like the tiger cat that after He-Man took out his sword and did the thing, Kringer would turn into like, well, there was a name for both. Pre like, pre, it's funny, he's taking steroids and look, pre-steroids and then after steroids. But anyways, if He-Man comes, I'm excited for it. I do think it's a bit of a, it's not a Munsters like dead brand, but it's a bit of a dead brand. Now, I've said before, Addams Family, totally a dead brand. They should never ever bring back another Addams Family pinball machine. Every time they've talked about remaking I've said no it's a dead brand. We've got we've got more than I think 20,000 is more than enough Addams Families don't you? And then they did a whole and then there's over and above that there's several like there's like the gold version which they did a couple thousand of so there's more than enough there's more than enough Addams Family. But then I can be wrong once in a while and I'll gladly admit when I am Wednesday came out and it was the sleeper hit that came out on Netflix and so brands can come back from Brent Baldy, ... and I feel like Masters of the Universe had its best shot to come back from the dead last year when Kevin Smith did all those shows and now mind you, there's still Masters of the Universe comic books that came out in coordination with these, I think there was many years when there was no Masters of the Universe comic books but there was a whole one that came out. I don't know if Kevin Smith helped write those ones as well or he just executive produced the show. I tried watching the show, I'm sorry, Kevin Smith. I love everything else you've done, but I didn't, you know, Jay and Silent Bob, right? Like, I love everything else you did, I didn't really, Dogma is one of my favorite movies of all time, because I like talking about religion and theology and of course as an ordained Judas Priest, I like how all that weird stuff like fate is, you know, I like all that kind of nerdy stuff, you know what I mean? So do I think Master of the Universe could work? Of course. Is it better than Puny Factory for a theme? Of course. Godfather. Arguably, I think Masters of the Universe is probably a slightly better, just for nostalgia purposes, because there's many of us have more nostalgia for Masters of the Universe than even Venom. So I think it's a very strong theme, but I think it's maybe not a dead brand, but it's kind of dead brand in that, like, my sons have no clue what Masters of the Universe is. To be fair, they also don't know what the Princess Bride is, because that brand is almost The only drop target Danielle Wick, welcome to the show. Hello. How are you? Good. How are you? Good. A little hot. Just here sweating. Thank you for this iced coffee. This ice coffee. I'm not just drinking it slowly! You are welcome. It is delicious. My goodness! I'm getting, ahh. This is called the City Lights, right? Yeah. This coffee we'd recommend for espresso and or iced coffee, even though all the coffees work as an iced coffee, of course. Just this one. You get even more flavor, per say. But let's leave that till later, maybe talk about that, but let's start by talking about the Princess Bride. First of all, are you or are you not president, The Canadian Princess Bride Fan Club. I wish. Okay, so you're not. But you are arguably, arguably. You're setting the bar very high right now. Honey, this is your favorite movie of all time. Is it your favorite movie of all time or not? Name a movie you like better than Princess Bride. I don't know. Grease. Grease. Lightning. Okay. Maybe like Grease. It's definitely in my top five. 100%. Okay, but you know how much I could never allow... like I will go with you anywhere. I will go to any theatrical performance. I will go to any play. I will go to go see orchestras, especially if they're doing more modern music or something like that, like the Star Wars Orchestra with Marc Silk. I would love to go to that. Oh, by the way, I want to tell the audience I got my Marc Silk autographed Topps Star Wars card in and it's incredible. It's so cool that I have something signed by Marc Silk. Hopefully in the future I'm going to get Marc Silk out Pinball Nerds podcast cards for him to sign and return to us as well. I'm excited to do that. That is coming up soon. Just tell the audience, do we almost on a weekly basis sit down and work on trying to make it look better and better so we can get those cards out soon? Yes, we do. Okay, are they coming along? They are coming along. Okay, we're gonna get there. I keep, what happens is we keep getting the artwork done for a couple cards and then I keep adding more cards. So stay tuned guys, we'll talk about that later. But what do you think makes The Princess Bride first of all such a great movie? What makes it such a great theme? Well, I mean, like they say at the very beginning, there's romance, there's sword fighting, there's princesses, there's brides, there's just all these different factors into one movie that I think make it, you know, everyone loves it. Well, not everyone, but you know what I mean. Well, it probably was the best date, it's probably the best date night movie of all time due to the fact that they're, like you said, There's comedy in it. There's action in it. There's fighting. There's romance. There's Andre the Giant. It's indubitably the most well-rounded movie of the 80s. When did it come out? Like late 80s, early 90s? I think 87. Okay. So you would have been very young. You would have been like three or four and I would have been like seven. Yes. Okay. So, I mean, growing up you probably watched this movie so many times. You could Quotes on me though what are what did one or two of your favorite quotes from it I mean just the typical ones or well yeah I don't know inconceivable we'll say it properly inconceivable see I knew you could do that I knew you had it in you there you go hope you hope you pinball nerds enjoyed that so do you believe that like let's just think of like the last let's just overall think of the last ten say Stern releases or even overall pinball releases that you've heard me chat about do you not think that this is probably perhaps the most The most female approachable game we've heard of in a while? Yes. I do. Elaborate a little. What makes it so that women would also probably enjoy this theme or this pinball machine as much as a dude? I don't know. I guess it depends on what they decide to incorporate into it if it's something that they go forward with. For me personally, I'm more interested in it than other ones that have come out. Okay, so, um, when we're thinking about getting it, would you honestly be willing, because, you know, I do, I'm just curious if it really did come out, is this the first pinball machine so far that you would consider getting, considering Grease is probably never coming out? Well, I think if they did it properly, I guess, I mean, I did make some notes. Okay, let me hear it. So, the first thing I was thinking was, it does need to follow the story, and I think It would be really fun if you could start with, you know, maybe for the introduction, you know, the grandpa and Fred Savage's character and you're introducing the other characters in the story. I like that, I like that. Just like the movie started, a little bit of narration, bringing a little bit of Fred Savage. I mean, the man's barely working anymore. He probably like, what is he gonna do, a Wonder Years reunion for the 15th time? Like, they're gonna bring him back. He is the wizard, right? I'm the wiz. So, like, yeah, you've got your intro, then you're meeting Wesley and Buttercup, and they like each other, and then Wesley leaves, and then they think that he dies, so she's engaged to Prince Humperdinck, and then he... Prince who? Prince Humperdinck. Oh, okay, that's an interesting name. And then she's kidnapped. I think it would be fun if they could include... Anybody want a peanut? I'm going to go ahead and do that. Yes, yes, I love that part. I always forget how many people are Fred Savage and Andre the Giant. Give me a break. Billy Crystal, Miracle Max. Yes. The sword fighting with Inigo Montoya. What does he say? I am your father? No. What does he say? Hello, my name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die. Oh, there you go. Okay, see I was not even close. Are you sure you don't want to co-host this podcast all the time? I think listeners would like that. I don't know. And then the game of wits. Uh huh. With the eye cane powder. Wouldn't that be cool if there was like two scoops and you had to choose and the game like did the whole schtick back and forth, like paused it. I know people don't like stop and go that often but it stopped and go'd and went over that. Wouldn't that be like such a cool feature if you had to guess, you know, left or right and then... Yeah. I think it'd be fun to include like the ROUSs or the Pits of Despair, you know? There's so many different elements I think that they could incorporate in some way that follow the story. Okay. Well, I mean, but this is... you're talking about hard-earned cash. A, if it came out, even though I know you'd have to play it first, but is this not the theme of all the themes We're the only games that have came out since we've been together and that's like 20 years like all 20 years we've been together every time we went to GT's on the beach in Port Stanley I played pinball at the start and the end of the trip every time we went anywhere ever with pinball whether it be any arcade was I not always immediately drawn to the pinball yes our kids would be off doing all the other like the the kids I call them the kiddie slot games like the where you win tickets and stuff and I'd be like go have fun guys here's your card go have fun I'm just gonna stay here and play pinball for an hour and the kids would go spend likeuman Insight TV Yes. Okay, then we're getting it. And I, well, I, they need to do it properly, I guess. Yes. Yes. But I would still be excited about it regardless. And I, I think that is something that's kind of missing in pinball is that like, you know, I don't think they're gonna jump on and do a Barbie theme starting tomorrow, and I don't necessarily want them to. END OF PART 1 Did you now did you just fart or was that the couch and you moved on? That was my foot on the couch. Okay, we have a newer couch and I don't think it's leather. I think it's pleather I don't believe any cows from galactic tank force were killed and you can't have ice cream from them anymore I think that this is all pleather, but I'll tell you what when it's hot like this and you do a little move Especially if it's not your partner like Danielle and I you know 20 years We're pretty comfortable together But if you've got like strangers over or like those Jesus people knocked on your door to talk to you and you do that little They're gonna think like is this guy stepping on ducks or is he farting over here? But anyways love the new couch love the new coach it's a little hot but what else would you want to see is there anything else you'd want to see in the Princess Bride is there any one person in particular obviously Andre the giants no longer with us he can't do call-outs like who would be some of the most important actors you'd want to hear call-outs from or who's like who's up there that the guy who plays Montoya whatever yeah what's his name again I'm going to be on the spot. Andy Patinkin, or Manny Patinkin. Okay. Is he still in stuff? Is he still... Yeah, he was on... Is he still acting? Is he still alive? Yeah, he's still around. He was doing, I can't remember the name of the show, some crime scene type shows. Like recently? Yeah, I would say in the last five years, I think. So he's still acting? He's been in Stranger Things. Oh, right, right, right. Okay, he's still acting. So they can maybe get him. Who else is like a close second? Who's that really short, annoying guy? What was his name? Sean? Yes, he is, he's still alive. He's still around? Okay. Um. I always confused him with like the parrot from Aladdin. That guy's gone though. I don't remember. Billy Crystal's still around. Billy Crystal! Was he doing City Slickers 9? Um, no, I'm just kidding. I only know him from City Slickers and like the My Three Men and a Baby or My Three Dads. Remember that? My Three Dads? No. No, okay. Anyway, someone listening remembers My Three Dads. Um, yeah. I'm probably gone a little bit over the hour and I try to stick around there. I do have to chat about playing with David, Dennis still, and Pat and PI, but is there anything else you can possibly think? Do you have any more notes left? Is there anything you want to say to the audience? I don't know. Do you have anything left? What else do you want to see in the game? Oh, in the game? Well, yeah. What would not screw it up? Maybe they're still in development of the game. Maybe they're still working on the callouts. Maybe they're still working on the art. Would you want to see photorealism in the artwork like they did for say Game of Thrones more so like copy and paste or would you want to see like photorealism more like franchise kind of artwork or would you want to see like really cartoony kind of more like comic book style kind of like Zombietti? No because it's not a comic book. I'm thinking if it was something more like realistic not necessarily copy and paste pictures. Like Munsters? How Munsters was kind of done? Yeah, something like that where it is like someone draws it out, but it's very it's I guess photorealistic to the artwork that you would find. Are you listening Stern? Get Frenchy. No, that's a that's a that's a side comment. Well, yeah, something like that. Something like that. So, okay, and I am going away to London next week. Yes. I know you're very excited to have the whole house to yourself for a week and you get to cut the lawn and you get to do all the silly little things I typically do. © 2013 W RIVER All right, redeepartments and You can find us at www.insideinvestment.com. They weren't as many house caps as I wanted, but I'm very, very, very excited for the trip and I'm really excited that you were able to, you know, you were okay with taking over running the business and it's a lot between running the homestead, taking care of the dog, taking care of the chickens, taking care of two big giant gardens, also, you know, cooking all the food for three cafes and keeping up with two mobile cafes and one permanent Thank you. I'm James B. Thanks for watching and have a great day. I hope you enjoyed the video. I'm James B. I'll see you tomorrow. Good luck. Good luck. Good luck. Good luck. Good luck. Good luck. Good luck. Good luck. Good luck. Good luck. Good luck. Good luck. Good luck. We're doing everything from disc golf to hitting Milos's craft beer emporium to going to Burger Burger. I'm getting the grilled cheeseburger there, which is incredible. Grilled cheese on top, grilled cheese on the bottom, like six pieces of cheese, two giant like quarter pound burgers in the middle. Can't wait for it. It's going to be the time of my life. And I'm really, really, really sorry I'm not bringing you. It's okay. I want you to go have lots of fun and I also want to let your listeners know if you would I would like to help, you know, contribute to Albert for his birthday. Any sales that are done between now and Friday the 21st. Okay, so the date today is the 16th. What are you going to do with this? You're going to use this to hire someone to come like hit me in the face with a banana cream pie? No. So what I would like to do is any sales I would like to go directly to you to celebrate your birthday on Saturday. And I will let you know Saturday morning how it went and I want you to have the time of your life Are you for reals Yeah Oh my god So like all the money including like the shipping and no matter what if someone goes on there Trans www.willywonka.com I like to keep things on the cheap and cheap. So anyways that would be really rad. I appreciate you saying that. If for some reason there's any extra money left over, I'm going to use that towards Guardians of the Galaxy. That's a great idea. Whoo! And that would be great. Any of you pinball nerds out there, so if you support me and support the podcast by buying from Angry Alpaca, they just go to Angry Alpaca on Facebook and hit the shop now button. www. mic回去 compartilijtsex.com All those are on the website as well? It sure is. I just updated it. Okay. So every penny you guys spend on there, we're not going to be using that to like boring stuff like paying bills which, you know, we'll do that with our own money but that's going to be used for that and I'm actually going to figure out a way to thank each and every person who does that not only on my next show but I'm going to do that by I will say this, you know I had to go through my closet actually just to set aside to go through all my pinball Follow babybelieve.um aquellyn delayed www.willywonka.com ft I was looking at budget ones or cheaper and it was like $600. When I left London, Ontario, even as a driving instructor, whenever I got a new car and I had to drop off my car to get my extra, I always had an extra brake pedal on the right hand side, of course, for the passenger side, and whenever I had that, I would have to drop my car off. Typically, they would say it would be three days, it ended up being five to six. So just so I had a car during that time, I would rent a car. And I went through, what, three, four vehicles in about five years of doing that? So I went through it. This happened a lot. And every time I rented a car, they would go, oh, it's $25 a day for the econo car, or it's like $35 for the luxury car, or it's like $45 for the sports car. And I would go, okay. Sometimes I would treat myself and get like the, you know, they give you a sports car, I'm quoting here. Soyuz. Anyways, the point is that now it's hundreds of dollars a day for a frickin' Yaris or a Honda Civic or just an entry level econo car. So the trip is going to be crazy expensive. Also, probably the worst part about that is we're paying basically two people who aren't normally working almost $100 a day to have to take over the other location so that you can get your butt down to my location. So there's that. And then over and above that, of course, flying ain't cheap, everything else that goes along PlanJ. The Can you believe he's working this many hours in this crazy heat? We've never had heat here. And the four years we've lived here, like, I feel like Ontario sent their heat over here, so. Mm-hmm. Anyways, thanks for joining the show. Did you want to go, do you have stuff to go do, or did you want to just chill while I do the last two stories? It's up to you? Yeah, I'll go. Okay. Bye! Thanks for coming to the show. See you later. Tell the nerds to take it easy, and do you know the slogan? What? Do you know the slogan for my show? Yeah. Okay, well say it to them as you leave. Eat, sleep, breathe, pinball. The Valley Company, Subsidiary of Walter Kidde & Co., Inc., Mirco Playfields, Tim Tim Kitzrow, Scott Danesi. I think my coffee is kicking in which is good, but also bad because I have to go to bed soon for my flight tomorrow. I did quickly wanna talk about my trip to Charlottetown with Pat at the Pony Boat. If you're ever in Charlottetown, you've gotta go to Pony Boat, check it out. Really cool, fun arcade. Get super loud past about 10, 30, 11 so maybe like tons of drunk teenagers in there. It's easy to get on a pinball machine, it's hard to get on everything else, but they do have like four modern pins there. They're always rotating them in and out there though so I know they had Ghostbusters. Oh and another thing, Pat is ranked number four in the world for efficiency like out of over a hundred thousand people. Congrats to FBOT by the way hitting over a hundred thousand players. Pat is literally number four of over a hundred thousand people at efficiency in the entire world and that's partially because he's not playing with the likes of Raymond Davidson or like any of the you know Escher Lefkoff or any of the really good young guns coming up. And over here in New Brunswick, he just slaughters us all. Like he wins probably 60, 70, 80% of the time he's winning these tournaments. Well he hasn't been playing a lot this year and he asked me to go to PEI with him. So I went there and I will tell you this, if you're ever playing with a player way better than you, when you first get to the arcade, what you do is they say, oh do you want to start playing? You go, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. I just have to run to the bathroom or I just have to go outside to have a quick smoke break or vape break or whatever. I have to go to the bar and grab a beer. And you let them start playing. And if they're a good player playing in like not a super awesome bar that doesn't have people like that aren't super into pinball, I just followed Pat and I just went in his wake. I was like one of those little minnows who clips on to like a shark and like just eats the, has a symbiotic relationship and just eats all the leftover food or scaling off of them, right? And basically I just followed Pat around. He kept leaving either one, two, or sometimes if he got the grand champion, three credits on a machine. And like I literally didn't have to pay for pinball all night because like by the time I finished this one Pat would just be finishing this game and he's such a good player that like I even jokingly tried to play him for beer he's like no no no I don't do gambling or bet or I don't he doesn't play pinball for beer he likes to just keep it fun he's not super into competitive which was totally fine but anyways had a great night with Pat that was awesome the Airbnb was chill um the hot if you go if you go to Charlotte town you have to go to Hop Yard incredible the cod burger was The pinball trip was panko-crusted with like coconut, had some type of garlic, chipotle, aioli on it, the onion rings were like the fattest, thickest, crunchiest mofos I've ever had. I know Prince Edward Island is incredible at growing potatoes, but they're also amazing at growing onion rings. I don't even know what type of tree onion rings grow on, but man, chef's kiss all the way. So, going on to the most important part of our pinball trip, the next day we went to Seven's Pinball-O-Rama. 7's is like $14.95 an hour if you just go for one hour even though you can pay I think the extra five cents to give you the extra hour for free. So there's a little tidbit for you that's not officially on their pricing but they do mention it on the Facebook. So say Orby sent you and you pay five cents extra you get the extra hour for free. They also have the date night thing which is like for the last hour of the night two can pay for 15. So that's also a very very very good deal unless you're Pat in which Pat can play for an hour on like one machine. All right, let's step through the cubicle, Wally Volland, recessive, and roughly 46.1 inches long. She doesn't go outside. You have some Some people go for the front, some people keep them closed. I am not staying for 11 hours. If I'm playing pinball for 11 hours, it's because I'm in the Sanctum. And by the way, I'm only three places behind good old Ron Howlett Jr. and he was just talking the most recent slam tilt that he thought he was get in. Get in. Well, I think he was 127th originally, so he's 27 back on the list and I was 30 on the list for the Sanctum. So I thought there's 0% chance. I will get into the 24 hour tournament called the Sanctum. However, we've both moved up several spots and I believe I'm like 15, 16 spots away now. Haven't checked for a couple days but it sounds like there is a decent, maybe more than decent chance I will be going to the Sanctum. I can only afford to go on one more pinball trip after I come back from this trip and that trip will probably be Expo. But if I get sucked away to the Sanctum, there's almost no way I can go to both the Sanctum and Expo. So I'm really, really, really hoping on one side that I don't get into the Sanctum so I can go to Expo, because I think I would have more fun at the Expo, but I've wanted to do the Sanctum now for like five years since it started, or six years even since I've ever been to pinball, I've heard about it lots. It's also a Stern Pro Circuit event, I've always wanted to do a Stern Pro Circuit event, and I looked at the list of people who are in there, I know at least 25 to 30 of those people just from the internet, I'm a fan of the pinball community, but I've never met them. So there's all these people there I want to talk to, all these hardcore pinball nerds I want to talk to in real life that are going to be at the Sanctum. So I don't want to say the Sanctum is more important than Expo because of course it's not. There's probably like 200 people going to Expo that I've never met that I want to meet. So I want to go to both. Now perhaps by the grace of God or wait, I don't believe in God, by the grace of Orbeez, Dudas, priests, friends in the high heavens, They would allow me to maybe go to both because I feel like I should go to both, but at the same time that is a lot of flights and that's a lot of hotels and that's a lot of money and for a guy who makes only a couple hundred bucks a week that's probably more than I can afford. So I probably will only do one or the other. If I get to do the Sanctum I'm going to try to be grateful and just be like I'm happy for what I get, but obviously I'm going to miss Expo, but if I get Expo then vice versa. So it's a whole shtick. I'm really sorry. I want to come to both. I don't know if I can go to both. Not sure which one I'll get into. Let's get back to my trip here though at good old, the good old Sevens Pinball-O-Rama, which is the largest pinball arcade. I think they have like, I don't know, it rotates between, I believe he said like 35 and 40 at any given time. I've been to several large pinball arcades all across Canada and I've never seen more than maybe 20 or 25. AO analyzed several games in those mà Corinthians something sometimes a little off the top of a lottery machine until it filling and something other it on another adaption tool every day theme robbing computer should be in plenty on internet for their全ượcсы serendip subway net on bread will be a lot more power up more well he got here by must Knapp Arcade, Flip N Out Pinball, Bally Williams, Straight Down the Middle, Bally Williams, New season for all of this previously mentioned shows, Cped다는x Island, Mar-a-Lago, The other machine is Hot Wheels. And, Seven, I'm sorry, I didn't want to say anything to you because I didn't want to be rude and you're such a nice dude and you work so hard and I'm hoping just maybe it was the night before someone was there and smashed them around. It looked like they had kind of been moved a bit, like they weren't in their regular spots kind of, like they're all like kind of like not even with the wall even though all the other games were, but Legends of Valhalla was near unplayable. If you try to shoot up that middle ramp, which is already a tricky enough shot, the ball, instead of coming straight down the middle and going towards the flippers, which it does on every other legends I've played, the ball literally would turn so far left it wouldn't even go to the in lane, it would go to the out lane, or maybe if you were lucky, um, if you were lucky, maybe it wouldn't quite go that far and it'd hit part of your flipper, but like, they were not level! And I cannot play, I can play a game kind of unlevel, but I can't, it hurts my brain And so on the TV studios difference between the hit songs matter so much then the entrants actually Jeżeli Doyan, and I don't know don't look it up but he had done the one on the top patterns you can tell that you would as well have said not to I have never seen exactly that blow by an outlet he show my first come guess at the talk show which is Su HUET I trip I'm not supposed to have A The Valley Company, Subsidiary of Walter Kidde & Co., Inc., Mirco Playfields, Tim Tim Kitzrow, Scott Danesi. You need to bastardize it. You need to make it just so freaking hard or so freaking steep. But you don't want to make it too steep because then that middle ramp is nearly unhittable from either flipper. So it's very challenging. I will say this. There is still incredible shots. The shots are probably, beside Jeff Teolis, the golden voice in the callouts, I would say the shots are pretty cool. And the artwork's not bad. Like the artwork's not bad. That's what I'll say about the artwork. It's better than the pink space hunt. It's better than a lot of other art packages I've seen. It's not great. It's not great. If it came out from Stern, people would be up in arms like, what the hell, dude, this can't be here. But for American Pinball, it's not bad. It's no Galactic Tank Force, which is obviously the nicest art package they've ever had, but I'm getting an hour and a half. I've been long-winded, guys. I'm sorry. I missed you so much, can you tell? I did want to talk about one last thing. I will say this. Going to Seven's Pinball-O-Rama, if you're in Charlottetown, it's a must go. If you're listening to me and you live out west, you live in BC, Alberta, whatever, anywhere out there, or if you live in even Toronto or southwestern Ontario, or even if you're listening to this and you do happen to live on the East Coast and you do happen to live in Halifax where I have lots of listeners, shout out to Doug Parsons among other people there. And I think he's just coming back from a big pinball trip in the States, so it looks like you had a lot of fun there, Doug. Shout out. And then of course if you live in Fredericton or St. John and you haven't done the trip, www.youtube.com www.youtube.com www.in-d-c.com.au www.in-d-c.com.au I have to go on and say, talk just very briefly, I promised the last Fundy Flippers I played against David Dennis. Now to be fair, I was on his home turf in Fredericton at Dylan's Arcade. Dylan always has, his machines are set up incredibly fast, very tough, but very fair. They're all level, they're all balanced. Maybe the slings are set super fast, but they're fair, they're fast. The Valley Company, Subsidiary of Walter Kidde & Co., Inc., Mirco Playfields, Tim Tim Kitzrow, Scott Danesi. industry Vergo suscribes to I bubbled out, I got 9th, only top 8 went to finals. I felt like I played okay. Now, I will, the only like, I guess the only minor complaint I would have for Dylan, I don't think he listens, but you know, the only thing I did say to a couple of the other pinball nerds there, I don't like complaining. When someone opens their house to you and lets you come play all their stuff, I hate being that guy. But like, all of his EMs are set up to 3-ball, and there's a reason why all the top tournaments in the world have EMs set up to 5-ball. And that's because near the end when I was like actually warmed up and playing really well, three of the four EMs that I played, I got either one house ball or two house balls. Well when 66.666 to infinity of when 66% of your game, you don't even get one flip, it's very hard on one ball, like and there's nothing I could do. There was no way I could have plunged differently. There's no way I could have nunged differently. Okay, like maybe like the top 100 players in the world could have figured out a way for What's Many of the same pins, I was tied for first all the way through the tournament till the very end when ironically Pat Harrington took me out and I ended up getting third in the tournament and he went on to win it to help get him that efficiency up. So congratulations. This is nothing off David Dennis. He played great. I think I had to play him head to head on one game. I think it was on the Star Wars Home Edition. And I was beating he had a really good like third final ball or second ball. He's he had one really long ball. I think I got second and he got first on it. But I I felt like I had a good game and I felt like I, no, I might even have got third on that one. See, I did worse than I thought. To be fair, there was also tons of great players there. Thanks Denny for the ride. Thanks Rod who also came from Moncton. It was good to ride with him and talk to him. He brought his, he brought some new meat, some fresh meat. His new girlfriend, she came out and played. She was very nice. We had a great time. We went to a zoo afterwards, everything else. It was fun. Dylan, your machines are incredible as per usual. He was a great host. I had a fun time. I actually didn't drink too much for once, which was nice, even though I didn't have to drive home. But no, I had a good time overall. I can't wait to get out to the next one. Funny Flippers are in their summer league off. So I've only played two pinball tournaments this year, guys. Is that crazy? Is that nuts? Like, that's how busy I've been. All the other pinball tournaments that were on a Saturday I had to work or I had an event during or I couldn't get to for one reason or another. So I am very excited in the fall to start trying to make it down to more tournaments down in Halifax I do also want to start traveling more, once, twice a year, going to either Pinball Expo, to going to Pintastic. See, I want to go to Pintastic too. I definitely can't do Pintastic Expo and the Sanctum, but Pinball Nerds, my voice is gone, I'm sweaty, I'm gross, I'm exhausted, I missed my comic book auction which started 34 minutes ago, but that's totally fine, it was way more important to hang out with you Pinball Nerds. www.willywonka.com ìI'd like to invite you to come back to Canada and see if there is a pickle beer in your area. I will be sure to present that to you, and I will be happy to have you there for a beer as I can ride my bullpen and see if they know anywhere that has a pickle beer. If I can't find one on Google that I can get shipped or delivered to me, Ontario would be the place that would have a much better chance on the East Coast. So if I'm only going to smuggle one beer can back, I don't know if it will fit my butt hole, probably not, but maybe I'll have to ship it back and I'll say, ìOh, it's t-shirts,î because you're not suppose to ship beer, but I might have to ship it back to Canada so I can illegally ship it over the border, which is even more dangerous. Ben Customs is really going to be coming for me so I can get it to Jack Danger headquarters, i.e. Stern Pinball, so that Jack Danger will come on the show. So I haven't forgot about you, Jack. Listeners, I haven't forgot about Jack. I still want him on the show. I want him back on the show because I already got to interview him once at Pinburgh many eons ago. I love you all. I'm sure there's more updates I have, but I have to now go. You want me to go. I want to go. Let's end the show. Until next time, pinball nerds, remember to eat, sleep, and breathe.
