TL;DR

Fall of the Empire Star Wars may be US-only; licensing/certification mystery threatens Stern's 40% non-US revenue

Summary

Two Australian pinball enthusiasts discuss Stern's upcoming Fall of the Empire Star Wars pinball machine, focusing on a significant distribution limitation where the game appears to be US-only due to unclear licensing issues involving Lucasfilm/Disney. They debate whether the restriction stems from Star Wars licensing complications or Spike 3 certification challenges, express frustration about losing 40% of Stern's global market, and contrast Stern's competitive position against improving rival manufacturers like Spooky Pinball and Barrels of Fun. The conversation highlights growing quality and design parity among boutique manufacturers, making Stern's availability crisis particularly damaging.

Key Claims

  • Stern's global sales are approximately 60% US, 40% elsewhere (non-US markets)

high confidence · Gonzo states he spoke to someone at Stern six months prior who confirmed this breakdown

  • Fall of the Empire Star Wars will only be released in the US, not in Europe or other regions

medium confidence · Gonzo references a statement from Canad on social media and a distribution notice to European retailers

  • The US/Europe/Asia-Pacific licensing split for Star Wars may be controlled by Lucasfilm rather than Disney directly

medium confidence · Gonzo speculates on the corporate structure and licensing divisions

  • Spike 3 certification delays could explain regional unavailability, though unlikely given years of development

medium confidence · Enzo proposes certification as alternative explanation; expresses skepticism about lengthy development without certification

  • Evil Dead is Spooky Pinball's best overall game with superior theme integration and artwork

medium confidence · Enzo states this based on play experience and interviews with Bug

  • Dune (Barrels of Fun) has significantly improved from Labyrinth in build quality, shooting, and mechanical reliability

high confidence · Gonzo played both games directly at Pinfest and made side-by-side comparison

  • Dune ran continuously for entire Pinfest weekend (Friday-Sunday) without mechanical issues after recent code update

high confidence · Gonzo first and last person to play it; observed no downtime despite early reliability concerns

  • Spooky Pinball now has confidence and reliability parity with Stern, making them a serious competitive alternative

high confidence · Gonzo observed Pinfest games running 13 hours daily without playfield repairs; contrasts with historical Spooky reliability concerns

Good morning, good afternoon, and of course, good evening. What is it in Oz Lenzo? It is uh we you got me early. It's 8:00 p.m. It's good evening. It's good evening. Um good afternoon from me at the point where we record this. We'll try and get it uploaded today. We're trying to pump out the content as uh as I'm sure you're noticing. I'm very pleased with all your interactions. Got a mixture of Enzo doing live streaming and unboxings and I'm trying to upload loads of um loads of walkabouts and loads of game stuff from Pinfest which I just went to. There's just been so much honestly I've got so much content from there. Played so many games. Um really into my pinball uh at the moment as well. I'm playing I'm playing as much as I can. Um, I've got a I've got a Dirty Harry here which I brought back from Pinfest which I'm absolutely loving more than honestly more than more than I even thought. So, it's a great game. Have you got it? No, I want to get one, but it's a great game. It is a great game. Um, thanks to Medway Pinball Club for um for loaning me that. That's really good. Also got a Mandalorian here. So, thank you to Neil for loaning loaning me that. Everyone's feeling really kind sorry for me or something. Um, I got some good news as well, which is Neil is sending me an Evil Dead uh to a new Evil Dead to play here and enjoy here. If you haven't seen Enzo's unboxing, go and watch. He he unboxes it. We've got a we've got a video coming up of The Evil Dead, which we filmed at Pinfest. Have a discussion with Neil when Neil talks about it. Then we've got another video with Enzo on Evil Dead. They might re by the time we finish they might rename uh this the spooky channel quite possibly. Um we we got loads and loads of stuff going on but today if you don't mind I want to talk about Stern and I want to talk about Star Wars. Enzo, what have you heard about it? I've heard I mean there's there's a lot of things right. So we we had this thing where there everyone was questioning whether it was going to be movies one two three movies 456. Um was it going to be a new story? was going to be based on the TV series, right? Nothing. I think it's pretty clear at this point. Um, the fall of the empire, which is an interesting name. You saw that. Um, because that you would think uh means it's four, five, and six. It would make sense to do four, five, and six. Yes. Right. Because obviously nostalgia is a powerful thing and everyone loves those films and films as well. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. And we heard John Borg and we saw a stream by Jack Danger. He did a fantastic stream uh two days ago on the Stern channel with John Borg on the Data East Star Wars. Yes. But did he not do a reveal on that which you might be able to tell us about? They they did a reveal. They showed the little sculpt of Jaba. Okay. Right. And he said that's from the game. So much better already than the last Star Wars game which had no sculpts. It just had that twanganger tie fighter on the little spring. Nothing wrong with a with a tie twer wrong with a twanger, but uh yeah, I've heard that. I've heard there's a bit of a licensing issue possibly. There was a distribution thing that was shared that says that they may not even make it overseas at this point in time. We don't know if that's true or not. Well, this is what I want to talk about actually. So, um I've been well, I've actually sold I've sold two games recently. I've sold Labowski and I've sold another one which I don't want to reveal just yet cuz I'm going to do a video about it. But um I sold one of the games to fund the purchase of this Star Wars game because I love my Star Wars. [Music] Um I didn't know it was going to be on Spike 3 at that point. And then a notice came out. I think it might have been Canad who put it on one of his social media platforms that Stern were not were only going to be releasing this title in the US. Now, as as I understand it, it has something to do with licensing issues. So, uh, we know that licensing is complicated anyway, but apparently Star Wars have got a separate license for US and separate license for, um, I think you've got Asia and Pacific and you got a separate license for Europe. Now, I don't know how that's going to stand on on your one, which will obviously be Asia Pacific. Um, as far as we're concerned in Europe, it looks like we might not be getting them. And, and this is a this a big deal. I'm actually quite annoyed about it. I don't I don't think this is necessarily Stern's fault, but I don't want to say too much because I'm quite sure that they're as disappointed as anyone because I having spoke to someone at Stern about six months ago, I asked how big is the European market and they told me, look, global sales are probably basically the states is about 60% of their sales, which means 40% is elsewhere. This is a this is a big big chunk. What I didn't what made me really worry more than anything is a statement which seems to have gone out to European distributors is is very much seems to be saying look look guys you can still get Kong you can still get Dungeons and Dragons you can still get this but unfortunately you're not going to be able to get Star Wars but I don't want I don't want that I want Star Wars um basically and uh yeah I'm very very concerned about this particularly as it's going to be the first release on Spike 3 Um, now I've tried to do a little bit of digging as much as I can. It may not be necessarily just the Star Wars license uh in terms of Disney who owned it. It might be Lucas Film who are obviously a subsidiary of Disney now. And the problem might be with their licensing. But bearing in mind, I've got a Mandalorian sat in the house now, which you which well, I know it's still for sale, but you could buy that in this country. Uh, Star Wars is still for sale. I've had one of those here. Um, the Steve Ritchie one. You can still buy that here. Oh, and by the way, you can still get the Star Wars home pin. I I'm struggling to see what the problem is here. So, let me throw a spinner in the works. Maybe it's not the Star Wars license. Maybe it's a certification of the Spike 3 system. I've heard it's licensing. That that that rumor did go around earlier. Look, if if it's a certification of the Spike 3 system, Stern have got a massive problem and and they they become no no longer able for us to buy them. Um, other things I was thinking what you were saying, right? Well, how is it possible as the licensing has the license changed um over the last couple years because you can still buy Star Wars Mandalorian home? So, what's different? Like is it because this is over a different because it's not essentially Star Wars, it's fall like you know the fall of the empire. So So is that a different I know there's books. I know there's um uh different takes on Star Wars in like the deeper dive of the side little stories that were happening during that. Is it maybe that? Do you know what I mean? Like I'm I'm finding it interesting. It could possibly be. So yeah, I mean yeah. So, you're pretty much saying if it was called The Empire Strikes Back, no problem. Um, I mean, I'm sick of this stuff. I think Disney, well, I think Disney have ruined Star Wars anyway. Um, I wish I wish they'd never I wish Lucasfilm had never sold it to them. Um, I like Andor, by the way. I think and I I've liked Andor. I liked Rogue One. Uh, everything else what they did what they did with Obi-Wan Kenobi is borderline criminal. Um, in my opinion, but they're they're not going they're not going to listen to us anyway. um because Disney are just so huge. Uh as I say, it might be Lucasfilm. I don't want to aortion that's why I'm not blaming Stern in this. I don't want to aortion blame in the wrong place. But if it well, it better be licensing. It better not be the Spike 3. Otherwise, you know, literally Stern are Stern are off the menu as as new new inbox games um that we can possibly buy over here. So uh which is you know no well it is a big deal for Stern because as I say is there any business that can really deal with losing 40% of its market place I would well considering considering how many units of Star Wars they sold nobody really knows but it was it printed money for Stern. Yeah. And it wasn't even that great of a it was a you know it wasn't a great Star Wars theme for the fanatics. They said it was missing mech toys and sculpts. Yeah. Um, pinball players found it challenging. Some found it easy. So, but overall it sold well. It sold really well for them. Oh, it did. It did. But I mean the the the trouble is with any of this stuff, it's at the point where this this is bad timing for Stern because it's the point where everyone else is up their game. Yeah. Um, so and but listen, I I think Kong shoots beautifully. I mean, absolutely beautifully. It really does. But you look at what you look at what Spooky have done with the Evil Dead and whatever they might have if it's Goonies or something like that. Now I got one thing I noticed from being at Pinfest there's a confidence behind Spooky now. They have a confidence there. Um so whereas before because of reliability people might have thought I'm not sure if I'm going to buy a Spooky. Oh, believe me that is a a real viable option for people now and whatever they bring out next is a viable option. Um, Harry Potter shoots like an absolute dream. It shoots so well. Um, plus they have now very smartly ratcheted down their their base level model for an arcade model which becomes competitive. You got to remember in this country Stern are not cheap. Stern stern are Stern are cheap over in the States. Over here there's um I could give you comparisons. I've I've done I've done it all before, but a Stern Pro is is not cheap over over here, you know. Um I know CGC are not CGC are more unreliable because it takes them so long for them to get games out. Beautiful games, but not a not a a viable um source if you're going to try and you know do something. You've got um you got Barrels of Fun who really did the the the way they've up their game from Labyrinth to to June is remarkable. So, you've now got games, and I'm looking at these other games now. I'm watching them at Pinfest. And the reason that's important is because you're watching games over four days being played from 10:00 in the morning. Yeah. Until 11:00 at night. And I'm not seeing these games with the playfield up being fixed. These g these games are working. Um, and that came out the box, as as far as I'm concerned, that Evil Dead came out the box and just worked all weekend. that June worked all weekend and this is and and that's that Stern apart from being cheap which they don't have over in the UK their USP is their reliable and available. Well, if they stop you know if everything else is now reliable and Stern are no longer available then that's that's an issue. Um I'm you know as you can probably tell I'm very this this was really the I'm not interested in Pokemon. I'm not interested in that. this and I' I thought Kong was shooted beautifully, but the theme is not for me. Um, this this is this is the one I wanted. Anyway, mate, there you go. Those are my thoughts on it. Have you discovered anything about Australia or do you not know any more than this? No. As far as my distributor, he's been hasn't been told any different. He's basically taking pre-orders and he hopes to God that they're not hiding anything from him because he's he's taking he's taking people's names and put them on the list and um you know it's going to be embarrassing to go back and say you guys aren't getting any you know like it's I mean it could be certification. I've had a product in what what I do in the audio video industry that Australia didn't get their stock for another 3 months because there was a a power certification certificate they got to wait for um for when they changed the power over and there was a delay. It could happen. Um I just find it hard to believe that they were working on Spike 3 for so many years that they wouldn't have got the certification. I agree. So yeah, that's the part I'm stumped with. Licensing, sure, licensing changes. I get it. But um for a for a theme that powerful for them that sold so well, if they lost Europe and Australia, like they're relying on the USA only like are they going to get their money back? That's the thing, right? Like not sure. Not sure. Yeah. And I think the other thing is people might only buy say only, you know, let's let's say Stern released five games. This might have been the one they were going to buy. They might not buy Dungeons and Dragons. They might not buy Kong. they might not buy Pokemon. This is um yeah, I just feel that lately with Stern the and I'm a huge Stern shill. Everyone knows I love my Stern games. You had uh Jaws came out and there was an issue with the little air balls and the fin. Nothing major. Fine. X-Men came out, there was a few issues. Dungeons and Dragons came out, we had uh push back on the theme, and then we had issues with the dragon catching fire. Then there was uh I did really I didn't know that. Yeah, there was a small run of dragon. This wasn't you. No. Okay. No, no, he had he had Vindeloo was coming out the other side. Uh then there was uh Metallica. Some of the Sparky's heads were falling off. And then there was uh what was the game? Kong. There was the problem with the Kong arms falling offation. I just feel like there like, you know, when you're a big machine, you you do suffer the QC a little bit and maybe things don't get tested long enough because you got deadlines and all that type of stuff. So, I feel for them. I really do. And, you know, if this is true, maybe they were too deep into it and they couldn't pull out. I don't know. But it's not the first time Stern hasn't pulled out of a game right towards the end. So, maybe there's hope. Maybe there's new hope. It's very good. That's very good. Yeah. It's just it's a it's a dream. It's it's a it's one of the dream themes and you know like a lot of people I feel it hasn't been done full justice yet. So you're hoping this is going to be the one. So and the trouble is I'm sure there'll be ways and means of getting one but this is not I I don't want to I want to get it. You know Pinble Heaven my sponsor. I want to get it through Pinball Heaven. I want I want the assurance of that. I want the guarantee of that. Um, and it's a hell of a risk to start chucking thousands of pounds overseas for, you know, for a shop that's not around the corner. And shop are probably not going to do it. You probably need someone to buy on your behalf. Sort of ship it over under the radar. This is this is not a this is not a good way to buy a pinball machine. Don Don's Pinball Podcast has already said that if we can't get them, he will buy them for us and ship one to you and one to me. Well, that's very nice. And we can pay him with PayPal. Well, how bloody nice is He's a bloody lovely guy, isn't he? Well, well, I thank you. Thank you very much. Well, I hope they Well, that's cheer me up a bit. Um, well, I hope they sort it out. I hope they sort it out. I I shall speak I shall speak to him privately. Look, people will be doing all all manner of things to try and to try and get this done. It's just a massive important theme that we don't we don't want to we don't want to miss out on, you know. We we really really don't. And and I I actually I do feel for Stern on this because they they they'll be as gutted as anyone as I say 40% they've moved to a new factory and and whatnot and pinball needs pinball doesn't need this at the moment. Parts are becoming more expensive. The cost of living is more expensive. Tariff what is sorry? Yeah. All the tariff issues and yeah of course yeah for sure that the pinball doesn't need this. It's it's it's tough. It's an expensive hobby anyway. And I think when you you know what it's like when you're sort of selling a game and you know maybe you you know you improve a game or you know whatever you get a fixer upper or something and and you you know you're trying to sort of build up your um sure build up your your your pot your pot of money for buying your pinball machine um by you know sort of just doing what you can and and maybe even letting machines go that you don't want to let go. It's uh yeah it's it's tough anyway mate. Anyway, talk to us. Talk to us about Evil Dead. How have you been enjoying that? Man, Evil Dead is just like and for someone and I did an interview with B and he even said to me a lot of people that bought Evil Dead are not even into the theme or the horror. They just were captivated by the overall package. And the interesting thing, and I think I mentioned it, maybe not on the video that you've released yet. I did a video where I lived with it for a week and I made some comments and like, is it Spooky's best game overall? Probably. It's theme integration, artwork is probably some of the best artwork in pinball. Um, the color palette modes, the way the modes are, the way that it's approachable but familiar but not. Um, it's the funny thing about Evil Dead though is it proves a theory that a game doesn't have to have the best shot layout because Evil Dead is a very traditional seven lane or eight lane fan layout. There are no unique ball paths and in theory Texas Chainsaw Massacre is a better shooting game. Yes, the ball the ball is doing far more unique ball paths. There are four flippers. There are extra things. There are things in Texas that it does a little bit and Looney Tunes, sorry. Those two games are extremely underrated and Texas to me is probably because of that if you look at that may be a better game than Evil Dead, right? But it's not for everybody because it's a very gory horror that and the color palette is very red and you know brown. I mean you had it changed. Yeah. Yeah. So it's almost like a maroon. It's a deep I I thought I thought it was I thought it was gorgeous but this is a step up. Sorry to interrupt. It's a step up but Bug even Bug said himself that Texas is his favorite game so far. Um because Spooky is great. It ticks all the box. Sorry. Evil Dead is essentially a perfect pinball. But it does prove a theory that it doesn't have to have this amazing unique new mech and ball paths. Well, Elton John proved that as well to be fair. Yeah. Yeah. Elton John was copy and paste of a lot of famous games and people. Yeah. Like as much as I love X-Men and I love the ball paths in X-Men, right? You know, and and what a how Avengers shoots and like yes, Kong shoots great. I've got a hat love hate relationship with Kong, but overall spooky. The modes are so captivating. You got four from the first film, four from the second film. There are multiballs there. There's mini wizards. There's um the deadites that pop up like the Evil Dead um monsters do. And sorry, the um medieval madness monsters do. And um it it is just an overall one more game, one more game, one more game. But to be honest, I think the secret source for them is the tiein that Christopher Franchie brings to the company. I I stunning. It it it's stunning. His artwork's stunning. It's I I've already discussed this. You've just haven't seen the videos yet. So, we've been Well, we've almost been doing a video a day since I got back from Pinfest and um you know, so I can't I don't want to release more more than that. Uh because they just they sort of each video cannibalizes the previous one. But um yeah, I mean the artwork on it is sensational. We discussed Chris Christopher Franchi in in detail in one of the videos. Um beautiful game. Abs absolutely stunning. I mean it it I wouldn't say it it stole the show, but it was one of the games that that stole the show. And it was just one of the games that had cues all weekend for it. Um and people just people just wanted to play it and and not I mean the topper is the topper is stunning. It's sort of thing you think, okay, that's um that's really you feel like it's raised the bar for toppers really. And um you know, anything else is now looking looking a well, not anything. There are other toppers, but you know, a lot of toppers are looking a little bit cheaper n by by comparison. I'm not a great fan of toppers, but I I look at it now and I think you probably need to have that, you know. Is that Is that cuz you can't get them in? That's exactly right. I can't get them in. I can't get them in here. They can't. Well, the good thing about Evil Dead is it has an extension cable for the topper to put it on the floor under the game. Oh, they they're clever, aren't they? They they are they are clever. Um yeah. Well, I think they're a really good company. He's so likable when you add him on and um Yeah. And I know I know Will I watched, you know, I will I be nice, you know, to jump on and have a have a chat with him. What you got? um what you got lined up. Tell us what you got lined up with because you you really and someone someone asked on the comments the other day, why have you killed Gonzo or something? And oh my god, you hijacked the channel. Um yeah, what do you got plans? What do you got plans? I'm very cautious of that cuz it is Gonzo's flip. Although ironically my nickname at school was Gonzo because of the nose and my name is So we got a we did a live with the electric uh playground about their toppers that went live. We I wanted to really do lives because I like interacting with the community and I know it's always hard for you to do them because of scheduling and time zones and everything. Um and uh so I've got the I've had that I've got um Dave David Van Es from Barrels of Fun to talk June which I wanted to quickly talk to you about and Jerry from P3 Multimorphic next week to see how he's going with Portal. Sorry I played Princess Bride by the way. There you go. I got Jack Danger on the channel next week hopefully. Fingers crossed. He's had a soldier. Yeah, there's there's lots going on. There's lots going on. But June is interesting because one got flown out to Australia for a show. Um but it was before they had the code update. There was no call outs. There was no music. There was no nothing in it, right? So, it was really early and unfortunately it spent a lot of time being fixed because the code at the time apparently was causing the coils and stuff to to overwork and um causing the game to basically overburn, right? Um but everyone's telling me it hasn't missed a beat. It literally has not missed a beat since the latest code update. Well, I I watched it all weekend. Um did you see my Did you see my walk around from Pinfest? Yes. Yes. Did you did you see the bit where they opened up the doors in a hall and everyone ran towards it? Everyone ran toward. So it was um yeah it was running from Thursday no Friday morning until Sunday late Sunday afternoon. I was very lucky to really lucky I was the first person to first person to play it. Uh, I honestly I have to pinch myself sometimes with this stuff. It's so sol. You know, Neil said he'll send over Evil Dead and all the stuff Pinball Heaven sent me. I'm Pimble Heaven said I could have tended two Kongs to do sideby-side comparisons. I'm the luckiest guy in the world. I really am. Um, uh, but yeah, so I played it first. It not at any point did I see it out of commission over the weekend. So, whatever those problems were, if they were code or whatever, this machine did not skip a beat. I also was I was the last person to play it as well. Um, so So, how did it shoot? Really good. I mean, really Labyrinth was a great game, but it was a hard game. It's much better than Labyrinth. I I I actually played Labyrinth directly after I played June. So, I mean, I I had I had I had the comparison. Yeah. Uh, look, in terms of the sculpt and the and the Labyrinth's really good and it's it's if you like Labyrinth, you like it. But in terms of shooting, in terms of the improvement of a pinball machine, there's really no there's really no comparison. I'd suggest Labyrinth is a little bit more rattly as well. What you could just see that they've learned that it's it's as simple as that really. It's Well, it proves it's better built. It's it's just everything really. It proves the theory. you said, you know, you opened the doors and all those people ran for June. Content, some content creators when it got announced said, "We didn't ask for June." They were very negative about it. They were going, "Oh, you know, why why would you do June out of all the themes?" But the thing is is that again, like Bug's comments on Evil Dead is that you don't need to really be into a theme to buy a pinball game. It just needs to be a total package. And it's a very cinematic experience. June, from what I'm seeing from the streams, it looks very cinematic. Well, look, I I'll tell you this now. you know, the maybe nobody asked for these themes, but I I think it would be fair to say the biggest the biggest games in terms of being played over the weekend were Kong, June, Evil Dead, and funny enough, Galactic Tank Force. I think you could make a point that nobody asked for any of those themes. Now, I I don't include myself in that because actually June, as you know, is is is a theme that that I love anyway. So, um, yeah, and some people were saying, "Why isn't it Fifth Element?" I found a Fifth Fifth Element was a bit weird, really. Bit of a weird film. So, um, I'm I'm fine. You can you can, you know, you take it, take it or leave it. I think the thing is with, um, with June is you have the atmospheric stuff. So the sound quality was so good and you have this wonderful musical score behind it and and I don't know what was missing before. I just, you know, in terms of movie clips and stuff like that, I just know it was there when I when I when I played it. So um yeah, I couldn't I couldn't tell. So I I didn't have that negative experience, but I could pretty much say the same with Jaws as well. I I wasn't sort of sucked into all that all that stuff, that negativity. I just sort of played Jaws and this is good and now it's quite possibly my favorite game. So um you know and I mean you know we are we are we are just we are just really lucky but yeah I mean I thought it it shot beautifully. I what I wanted to say even even after it had been switched on for 11 hours. Was there flipper fade? Yes. Yes there was. But it wasn't it didn't it didn't stop you. You wouldn't want to play it for 11 hours. You might want to do something. you might want to get some precision flippers or stuff like that, but the stuff that I'd read, I didn't find to be true. Um, and I thought it I was worried that he wouldn't be able to shoot. The first time I saw someone play it, the first couple of videos that came out, I mean, it was was awful. Um, whoever was playing it was not having a was not having a good a good game. We've all had bad games, haven't we, on pinball, let's be fair. But it was it looked bricky. The shots weren't makeable. You know, I'm I was looping shots together. Um there's I'm not a great I'm not a great one for ball diverting and stuff like that. I but I got to say the last two games I've played which are June and Harry Potter both had it I've really enjoyed it. I think it it it gives another layer to a pinball machine whereas you don't I'm sure you'll learn eventually which way the ball's going to be diverted and where it's going. But I I just think it's really really interesting and um yeah, just yeah, I'm just very I'm very impressed with all this new stuff. In fact, I'm struggling now to think of a game for I know they're called boutique producer. Even the boutique producers are now producing good games. And you know, that's what I'm saying at the start of the video. These are viable options for people now. Spooky are are a serious contender. And actually, it wasn't it was there other games there. TNA. Sorry, TNA. Um, Robert put TNA in a in a tent as well. He had a big screen on it. Uh, and it was it was it was great. It was was such a good such a good game, TNA, by the way. So, they now have a back catalog spooky of games which gives them gives them real depth. And yeah, I mean, I'll be I'll be perfectly honest here. Goodies is a beloved theme for me and a lot of people. And I must be honest, I I thought there was a point when it was first mentioned two or three years ago and Spook Spooky were getting it. I thought I don't want him to get it. That was the truth. I I wanted someone else to do it. And the best compliment I can give him is now I don't I want I want I want them to do it. I I want Chris Christopher Franchi on the art. Um I want all these things under I I I want them I want them to do it. I'd like to see what they do as a as a topper. Fair play. That's all you can do in in any in any walk of life, I guess, is take feedback. Can Can you imagine the spooky spooky topper of Goonies where it's just got the guy So, you like the Evil Dead hot topper, but it's just got the guy going, "Hey, you guys." That's what I That's what I I didn't want to preempt it. That's what I imagined. That's what I imagined it to be. Yeah. Um the rumor is it's Beetlejuice, though. The next one. Okay. Okay. Well, I I um I hadn't seen Beetlejuice until ever until a year ago. That's the first time I saw Beetlejuice. Um it's It's not for everybody. That's for sure. They can keep that one. Yeah, I guess it is. Yeah. Yeah. Michael Katon's a good actor, but not for me. That film. Yeah. Yeah. But look, I think the thing that the boutique companies have is they've got the passion, the the the possibility of not having to abide by rules and, you know, uh they can do themes they really want to do, right? Yeah. Like, you know, when we had Elvin on the channel, he said he didn't want to do King Kong. They begged him to do King Kong. Yeah. You know, and there's elements of the designing Kong I can kind of feel that like that left out he probably didn't want to do, but he had to. Oh, I hate that left out laning com. Oh, mate. I like it. Me. Yeah, I like I like it. I like it. But you got you got to fathom as well. You should be used to this stuff. Yeah, but see, Fathom survives a lot more than what Kong does in that left out lane. It's uh Yeah. You give it a shake and get it even if it's You can shake it in there. You can. Yeah. And actually, there is an option of the posting Kong to be moved over a little bit, which I haven't done yet. Do it. Do it. You might you might all find it changes your game, but it's it's I I can't I can't think I've played a better shooting game than Kong. Um I think it's incredible. It's just a disconnect with the code. I'm just not I'm not I'm not connect. And you know what? Electric Playground did the topper which has nostalgic elements of the old films elements of the old films. and already having those topper the posters of the old films kind of gave me some nostalgia because they're iconic movie posters right from the 30s. So it proves that if they had gone that way like with Godzilla how it's got the cheesy old movies in it you know where Godzilla's flying vertically horizontally and stuff like that type of cheesiness it probably would have been a banger. I I think I think it still will be honestly I think the animations are really good at it. I've not it's it's not a theme for me, but it would not take me much persuading. I'm just grumpy at the moment because of Star Wars. It wouldn't it wouldn't I'm just It's just a tantrum. This video is basically the first 15 minutes of video basically a temper tantrum. It wouldn't take much for me to be persuaded to get Kong. It's just I I hadn't done cuz waiting to get Star Wars. So, it's, you know, it seems like, you know, a disappointment, but it's it's not. It's a it's a brilliant game. I I I just think, you know, Elwin is so good. He's so good. He He really He really is. He's just He's just a level above in terms of the way playing shots and stuff like, but it's like competition competition's lifted everyone. I was so impressed with the way Mooney had Harry Potter shooting. I just just incredible. Absolutely incredible. And um How did that go on the weekend? It wasn't there. And and there No. And it and it it it would it would have been packed. It honestly that would have been packed and it yeah it definitely definitely would have would have been packed and it would have sold games as there's no doubt about that at all and it would have been up there. It would have been in terms of the brand new games it would have been there shooting it out. Yeah, for sure with Evil Dead with June with Kong it would have been it would have been there. It it really really would have been but um it's I think you'll find it's already sold very very very well. um you know we did the pinball heaven event and a lot of people came there played the game really enjoyed it and um yeah so that's yeah I think there's a lot of um a lot of them have been sold there as well but yeah it's um we are we are really lucky I honestly I can't say talk about spot for choice the thing is you I don't have I don't have a choice of Evil Dead so that's it's actually made it easy for me but if you if you do you know what I mean because they're all sold out if you want to talk about L um Lord of the Rings if you want to talk about Evil Dead, if you want to talk about uh June, if you want to talk about um Star Wars, you want to talk about Harry Potter, these are I'm not I've not seen Star Wars yet, but this is serious stuff. This is serious stuff. And and the level is just being lifted. I think everyone's waiting around for whatever anyone's going to do next. I I think when people get to play June, which is now essentially a packed game with call outs, music, and code at Expo, it will sell out at Expo. I've no I I have I have no doubt about it at all. There is there is nothing wrong with it with it and everything is right with it. And if if you've got an extra layer of loving the theme, then um then, you know, it's it's it's incredible. you feel it it immerses you into the world and and that that's the thing I I feel immersed into the world um when I'm on it but you know I do with Jaws as well I I do you know for all all that stuff that it got at the start of but you know obviously with Jaws I have I've I've improved the speakers and done other things to sort of help that along but it's got all the it's got the movie assets for Jaws it and it sort of the the order of it makes sense and the way they capture it you're capturing the sharks and stuff It's the way it's a fishing reel on it. It immerses you in the world. And I think the best Lord of the Rings is like that. The best games do that. Um Star Trek Next Generation I've been playing recently. I I feel it with that. I feel like I'm in an episode of Star Trek Next Generation. I I don't know what why I'd be, you know, the when they start making announcements about the Borg. Oh man, the Borg. The Borg. I watch it. I think the screen in June at the back of the backbox is a is a like it t is that got that that forever distance and it ties the game in with stuff happening, you know, like when you kill the when you kill the big machine that they call what do you call them? the one that sucks up the harvester. Yeah, the harvester and that blows up in the corner and then the flying little dragonfly thing that that you hit in the you know like uh I think that the use of their screen I hope every Barrels of Fun game has that screen. I I think it will be in a USP. I want to All I would say is it's on that's the one thing that Labyrinth does better than June. There's more on the screen. There's more happening. But yeah, this is this is it's not like a shot not working. There was nothing Barrels of Fun could do about the Outlane Post once those on Labyrinth once those games shipped. They can put more stuff on that screen. Um, and and I I hope I hope they do, but it's it's I it's it's a it's a it's a triumph. It was it was a triumph to see that and Evil Dead as such finished, you know, polished, well shooting games that worked for the the whole weekend. And it and it just actually goes to show that, you know, maybe despite the things you hear, despite the things you read upon release, and particularly when those first two or three games go out, you you got to take that stuff with a pinch of salt because I think these companies improve very very quickly in terms of their they think they sort their problems out really really quickly. And I'd say the same with um with uh King Kong actually. I had two of them here. I open both of them out the box. I know I know the Pro doesn't have the the moving gorilla, but the masturbating gorilla. Yeah. Beautiful. Um, no problems. Yeah, honestly I' I'd no problems at all. They both just out the box and just just shot and and that's and that's the standard and that's what you get with competition. And yeah, all eyes on all eyes on what the next release is from someone which is so so bloody disappointing with this Star Wars news actually. So, um, some well, let's hope it's, uh, not true or let's hope temporary. That's the one. I think it is true. Yeah. Um, you know, so someone someone said yesterday, I'm not sure I even believe, can I say it's quite a thing to make quite a thing to make up. It's very detailed. Not sure. Um, I'm not sure. Like a legitimate It looked like a legitimate email that he shared. Yes, it was. It wasn't It wasn't made up. Um, but yes. So hopefully I think it so it is true. Hopefully it is um it is easily rectified. Um right anyway I've got to go. I've actually got talking of work um got to get back to it actually. I'll get this uploaded today. In fact I'll upload it now. Jump back to work. Nice to talk to you mate. Um yeah it's been a while. I'm going to give a big shout out to JBS show. Look on the JBS is Jamie Jamie Bersel. I show a thing with Jamie the other day. We'll get it up eventually. We got so much content. Jamie's at the JBS show. So Jamie was at the wormhole. He's the guy that hosted the Twippies for those that don't know. Um, and he's a one hell of a dude. He loves Diet Coke just as much as I do. So jump on his YouTube. He's rebranded because he's not at the wormhole anymore. So he's under the JBS show. So have a look at his stuff. It's It's pretty cool. Yeah. And I just very quickly thanks to everybody that's been engaging with with the channel. Um, you know, we don't we work in fits and starts here. you know, work gets busy and we don't upload for a while. But I think Enzo is going to be regularly doing uh live stuff. I I'll try and continue to um to upload machines, you know, and and you know, with with just footage of machines, which is what I I like doing, you know, playing a machine and stand in front of machine and talking about it and stuff like that. We'll try and get some We heard what you said. Spencer is not dead. Um which you'll be pleased about as well. That's the other thing. Yes, that is him um on video with me. Uh well, you've seen him now because you saw him play Saabian Nights. We probably got five or six other videos of Spencer on from Pinfest on individual machines. Um so we got lots of that. We'll try and do some top 50s as well. I mean, realistically, we can keep this channel packed with content for the foreseeable future and um hopefully we'll have bit of have a nice uh a nice Star Wars video for you at some point. Enzo, thanks for all your hard work on the channel, mate. been a real real asset to the channel and and to bring all this live stuff is is great and people love interacting and love enjoying it and particularly I I can't get on and do it for because for for life reasons. So, um yeah, I'm going to say goodbye to everybody now. Uh Enzo, you've been an absolute superstar, mate. I was trying to introduce the end slate there, but for whatever reason, I can't. So, whatever. I'll just add it at the end. Like and subscribe if you wouldn't mind. I know I'm um I I'm a I'm terrible at this actually. So I watch I quite watch a lot of sport. I watch a lot of um watch of MMA and boxing. Yeah. And there's channels I watch regularly and I watched the other day I thought I'm not even subscribed actually. And you know what? Cuz YouTube just keeps offering me the videos anyway. So I'm guilty of it. Um and so I'm not telling you off. I but I would appreciate if you would subscribe. Just have a little look underneath. uh click the subscribe button. If you hit the bell that's next to it, um it will it will ping your phone um when we up when when we upload. So, your phone will be will have pinged a lot in the last few days. I apologize if it woke you up in the middle of night, but you should have your phone muted at night when you go to bed. It's very bad for your brain if your phone is switched on, by the way. Um but at least when you um when you unmute it in the morning, it will go bing. Oh, look. Oh, look. Flipper's uploaded another video. We'd really appreciate it. And and thanks for interacting. Thanks for watching. I'm going to end this recording now. Cheers, Enzo.
