Hey, Butt-It, check them out. I am drawn to them, as if by a power greater than my wiener. So, um, do you want to do it? Hey, Butt-It, what the hell's going on? Dammit, Beavis, if you want to score, you gotta be smooth, dumbass.

Coming to you from beautiful upstate New York, this is the Slam Tilt Podcast, a show about all things pinball. I'm your host, Ron Hallett, here with my co-host, Bruce Nightingale. Do I sell? Do I not sell? Do I sell? Do I not sell? That is the question. Do you sell what? The house. Well, we had the house up for sale. We thought we sold it. Then we didn't sell it. And oh, my God, it's whirlwind.
1:00
Oh, my God. Wow. Right in the intro he goes for it. Oh, yeah. Just right down the gutter. Right for it. Before we get into that, this is episode 86. Wait for it. Destroy all monsters. Every single monster? And that was Godzilla part of this monster thing? Yes. This is the one where, if I remember, aliens get mind control. and take over the monsters. Do we ever understand how the monsters started?
1:32
Were they from the nuclear wars or nuclear bombs? Well, Godzilla was. Well, he was released from a nuclear explosion. But this is like the aliens control the monsters, and then they lose their control. Then they bring King Ghidorah in, and it's a lot of monster fighting, and it's cool. Yeah. Episode 86. So, hello, Bruce. Howdy, guys. How is everyone doing today? How's the house? Well, we put it up for sale because I can't handle everything.

  • I can't take care of a house, a bar, and work 14 hours a day. We'll see. So we put it up for sale Tuesday, and we had a bid in Thursday, and we accepted the bid Friday. And then Monday, the guy backed out of the bid. Wow. Yeah, so now we have three more people. It's like a pinball wire. I know. Anyway, three more people come and look at the house today. So a lot of people are interested. We've had actually, I think, like 12 people come and look at the house in this past week.
    2:37
That's a good timing because you fixed everything up recently. Yes, we have. I painted the whole basement walls. I put all new carpeting in. It's the house where Ron Hallett slept. And other people. Yes, I know. But it's very important, though, your new place must have the guest room. Yes, we're actually going to move to an apartment, so I don't have to take care of a lawn or anything. I just want to go in there and sleep. But guess what? In that spare bedroom, guess what's going to be in there? A bed?
    3:07
Pinball machines. And a bed? And a bed. Okay. So what I had to do, I had to do what Ron's done in the past, get a storage bay. Storage unit, baby. I talked to the man himself who did it last time. So I got a 10x20 heated and air-conditioned storage bay. I'm putting pallets down, and I'm putting the games on top of the pallets. I've already moved five of the 10 games from the basement. So same size as mine was.
    3:38
Yes. 10x20. Yeah, you need the pallets because I don't know if we ever went into it in the podcast, but there was a flood situation. It was the same day I got the ACDC. I don't know if I told that story on here. where the ACDC was on the way. It's like, it's here. I drive home, and they couldn't get it off the truck because the lift gate broke. Oh, no. So they're sitting there, so it's like, we can't get it off the truck.
    4:08
And at the same time, I get a call from the storage facility saying, there's flooding into your unit. So that was fun. So I drove there, and it turns out it was the unit next to mine that had flooded, and it just started to seep into mine barely, and I had everything up on pallets. So nothing got wet. They cleaned it all up. They came back with another truck later on, and I got my ACDC, and everything was great. Ta-da! But, yeah, definitely must have pallets. I have pallets here if you need them. Nope, I got a ton of them.
    4:39
Oh, okay. I've actually got seven pallets laid down. I have the games. So some of my favorites are down there, including Cheetah. It's already down there. Nice. so cheetahs down there nine ball meteor i forgot you had the meteor yep hot dogging and my i'm gonna put my medieval madness cabinet down there i still have an extra one of those i have to bring down big game black spider-man my video main machine and my jukebox my video jukebox touchscreen
    5:16
Do you still have a main machine? I don't even remember that. Not a main, but it's a 60-in-1. Sorry, 60-in-1, I should say. Oh, my. Highly illegal 60-in-1. No, that's legal, right? No, it's not. And you're admitting it on the podcast? Yeah. Fail. Massive fail there. I don't lie to our listeners. I don't lie. I admit when I do illegal activities. Yes, exactly. Nice. So what kind of shape is that meteor in? Not bad. Why? Not bad? you saw it
    5:48
well I don't remember it has a little bit of wear on the upper flipper part upper flipper oh the upper okay little drag I'll have to look at that again you want to borrow it maybe we can call it even on one of the other two games that I co-own oh I really like that oh yeah you like that oh daddy liked that what do I co-own I would definitely take it to relinquish co-ownership of the Dragon Fist Wow. But not the Quicksilver. Yeah. I have to owe you money still for the Dragon Fist, of course.
    6:20
Now, Dragon Fist, interesting little factoid. When I was over in Rochester for Stomp West, I stopped by Zach's, and he has our Dragon Fist there. Yes, our. Yeah. And I noticed when the game was over, it did this little fancy little mini light show thing that mine doesn't do. And, of course, that has the stock ROM in it. It does, like, where the circle is. The lights come up and go around the circle, and it makes a little sound effect.
    6:52
Like, oh, mine doesn't do that. So I emailed the man, Mr. Scott, to find out what the deal was with that. Like, why doesn't my game do that? Because I have his ROMs in it. Yeah, and? He said before he fixed the other issue with it, which was the fact that it doesn't do what the rule card says, because his software makes it do what the rule card said. So the first thing he did was eliminate that. Oh, that's funny. It's like, why'd you do that? It's like, yeah, it looks like a really cool effect
    7:23
until you want to immediately start another game and you're hitting the start button and you can't because you have to wait for that whole thing to finish. And then it caches your start button presses and you end up with a three-player game. Oh, that sucks. Yeah. So it is kind of a bug. Well, it's a neat little thing, but Dragon Fist is kind of next to Stars. is probably the second hardest game I have, and it's one of those games you just play, hit start over and over and over again. So that would get really annoying if you had to wait for that little light show every time.
    7:53
Well, now that you made a good segue into stars. Oh, segue. In the bar, we got a couple new machines. What do you have? Well, luckily, our local operator, Todd. Hi, Todd. From Knox Amusements brought in an Iron Man. Love Iron Man. This one is the most brutal Iron Man I've ever played. It's actually number five from the original run. Really? So it is really early. So that means, let's see, it won't have the shoot spinners to raise Iron Munger sticker.
    8:28
Does not. And the ramp will be in the original place. Yes, which is brutal. Yeah, every time when you go halfway up. Okay, interesting. Yes, and he has the outlanes three quarters of the way open. But what it'll also have is, I believe it has their earlier play fields that don't get the out-hole wear that we talk about. That was one of our original bits. Yes. Check your out-hole. So Todd brought that in.
    8:59
That's actually this month's Rochester selfie game, and that's been brutal to everyone. and then we also brought in another game which is going to be announced actually tomorrow on Facebook for the Silverwall Saloon Lord of the Rings Jackpot! One! Cool. So that is at the bar now too Is that yours? That is mine So a home use only Lord of the Rings folks Original run. You can de-virginize it All the figurines
    9:29
Yes it does I have an extra set of figurines at home too Of course you do. Of course I do. And all the hard plastics and the soft plastics they called. There's actually two plastic sets for that game. Why? Because the Valinor is actually a plastic set on top. There's a plastic set and there's other plastics. They're called a heavy plastic set and a soft plastic set. So the normal is that you're soft and then they have hard and durable ones. And those are considered your hard ones. Oh, my.
    10:00
I love when it's hard and soft. Yes, hard and soft. Wait a minute. Harden's... That doesn't... Stupid. Okay. So, that's why we have the bar now. And I think we're going to be taking out the game. The lowest making money... What do you think, out of 24 games at the bar, the lowest moneymaker is? It's going to be an old game, something without multiball. So... Probably Stars. Fail. No.
    10:30
No. Stars is the second best older game. Oh, okay. It is Paragon. Bummer. Of course, you already sent me a message saying that. Of course I did. But Paragon is goner, and we're probably going to be bringing in what Ron wanted originally to be brought in for the fourth game for the oldies. Sea Witch. So that means we'll have to get Steph back up here. She'll be very happy, yes? Yes, she will. So hopefully next week I'll get that brought in, and then we'll take out Paragon. I'll put that away in the storage bay.
    11:01
and I got to put all my parts in storage and all this other stuff. And oh, my God. Oh, my. I fit a lot in there. I remember when, what was it? We were emptying it out and the Stargazer was sitting there. No, we put stuff in there. It's before I moved. Yes. And you took like a picture like, look, I found this Stargazer. I found his hoard. Remember I said it was like. Yeah. Actually, you didn't even say it was the Stargazer. You just took a picture just to see if people know. It's like, was that a Stargazer? How's your week been so far?
    11:33
Oh, well, let's see. I worked my third consecutive weekend, which sucked. I was there in the money. Well, no, I'm salaried, so it doesn't matter. Sucks to be you. So, yeah, we recorded from Needham last week. That went okay. Yes, it did. Didn't really have any issues. Nope. So maybe I'll start using the laptop a little more. It's a little quieter
    12:03
Less background noise Although there was some bizarre bleed in At the very beginning I heard that too Mr. Byers, Robert starts talking And then it just stops And it was fine He was a great guest Mr. Byers, did you like the game music? Yes, I did The only thing I forgot to ask him was What games he owns Fail, Robert, what games do you own? Please email immediately. What else was I going to say?
    12:34
Oh, while I was talking about code, I have another code update for Firepower to check out. Firepower. Yeah, turns out that Firepower in Texas I saw that was running a System 11 hardware, seven digits, all that. That was actually a Scott beta tester. It was his code. It's running a System 11 board set? System 7. Oh, System 7. Okay, you said 11 originally. Okay, I'll have to listen back to see if I actually did that, because last time you said I said something, I did listen back, and I said what I thought I said.
    13:06
I don't think so. Okay. And what was I saying? I have it in what he calls the Nightingale mode, where you just hit six targets and all three locks are ready, like every time. The wussy mode, yeah. Yeah, I like it. Because the whole thing about the software is it makes multiball actually worth something, so let's get into multiball. Yes, and it's fun. It's fun. and I just remarked to him how there was a little issue with the sound, a little break in the sound.
    13:37
When you drain a firepower, at least in a stock firepower, the game can't play the background sound at the same time that it plays the sound effects. It just gives you the illusion of that. So by just constant, like do the background sound, then sound effects, then right back to the background sound. Well, when you drained, it would like do the background sound, you drain, and then there would be like a one or two second, like, no sound. And then it would go to the bonus countdown, and then the sound would start up again. Okay. I just clued him in on that.
    14:07
He remarked how anal I was. Like, really? But he sent me some new code, so I've got to put that in, see if it fixes the issue. There you go. Trying to think, is there anything else I did involving fixing games? Me and my father were playing Dragon Fist, and some piece of plastic broke off, and we can't figure out where it goes. Excellent. I'll have to take a picture of it and I'll look at mine. Yeah, it's very weird. I mean, it's not a painted piece, so it's not one of the plastics. It looks like it's one of the stand-up targets.
    14:39
It's that color. It looks like it, but we looked at every one of them and none of them is broken. So I have no idea what this is from. It's very bizarre. How bizarre? Hey, did you know I used our Twitter account this weekend? No, I do not because I don't have Twitter. Loser. I tweeted out about our stream. Yes. Or my stream. Was it golden? It was golden. I streamed Cheetah this Saturday, and then I went to work after.
    15:10
And you were on the bar main screen. Wow. I feel honored. Yes. Yeah, I saw you in there. I saw Jeff Teolis was in there. I saw Jeff Parsons was in there. The pinball princess was in there, all watching the old cheetah, which played just fine, didn't break down. Always a good thing when that happens. I had some repairs this weekend. I had AFM, a couple switches. I keep on having the right loop not register, and I keep on moving the switches.
    15:40
I replaced both switches, replaced both wire forms, and it's still once in a blue moon will not register a switch. So now I'm biasing them left or right to try to make sure that when you're going around it, It's actually hitting the switch, and it seems like I moved them towards the rail, and it's been a little better. But we'll see. I also had a bad switch happen on that. Submachine gunning switches on a couple games, and Quicksilver keeps on rebooting once in a blue moon.
    16:12
I'll just be sitting there. I'll be downstairs or in the bar area or even upstairs and suddenly hear, I'm like oh my god I turn around and it's booting up so I'll go over to it and I'll watch it for like 15 minutes, doesn't boot up again reseat all the turner off, reseat every connector, put it back on, doesn't do it for like 2 or 3 days and suddenly I'm like what the fuck so I might actually replace the driver board with another spare I have and see if that you know if it may be losing 5 volts for a millisecond or 43 volts Hmm There you go
    16:49
Possible. I have, like, new connectors on half the connectors on that board, so. And then, oh, when I was taking apart Nineball today, I noticed my power connector that goes from the bottom power distribution board to power. The rectifier board. The rectifier board for the big one, the big connector on the bottom, has two big burn marks on it. So I know what I'll be doing when I put that back together, remaking that connector. Yes, and replacing the pins? Yeah, I guess so.
    17:19
Must be an original board, I'm assuming. It is a Stern board. Yep. I actually ran into one when I first got the Quicksilver. That had a Bally original board in it. Yeah, so does my Sea Witch, or my dad's Sea Witch. Yep. And then I packed up the cheetah and everything else, and it's all clean, so it's ready to rock. So you got all the rat shit out of there? I did, but I now realize I need something else for the cheetah besides the back box. Wait, no, you have the back box. You need the insert panel.
    17:49
Yeah, the insert panel, and I also need the wiring for inside that, the whole back box. Wiring for the whole back box. Okay. You know, the wiring going from the CPU to the light board and going across over to the driver board. All right. That wiring also. So people, friends of the podcast. Help a brother out. You got wiring harnesses for the upper back box for any stern. Stern. Because there are different color codes. The other ones.
    18:20
Let's do it. Hook a brother up. All right. So that was a repair section, kind of. Yeah, kind of, you know. Let's do some housekeeping here. Housekeeping? Housekeeping. Me fluff your pillow? Starting with episode 90. Uh-oh. Between episode 89 and 90, I'm going to be changing our RSS feed. What that means for you... Is everyone going to lose us? Are they going to lose us all? You may have to resubscribe. It depends. I'm going to change it at iTunes, Stitcher, Google Play.
    18:53
Hopefully you won't have to do anything. But if after episode 89, if you don't get episode 90 on the usual day, you may have to resubscribe. And the reason I'm doing this is because we have a new website. Yes, we do, and it's all Ron. I have done nothing towards this, so don't thank me. Thank Ron. And I'll thank the head-to-head guys. Ryan C. said it looks great. It looks great, mate. It's slamtillpodcast.com.
    19:24
I mean, I knew it was smart to actually buy the domain name when we started the podcast. like what a year ago or whatever, even though we weren't using it. I wanted to have that, and now it's finally being put to use. So now I can tell you instead of go to Facebook, go here, just go to slamtillpodcast.com, and in the upper right, you will see the little icons for all our websites, our Twitter account, our Facebook account, our YouTube account, our Twitch TV account,
    19:55
so you can watch our streams, and our email. So slamtiltpodcasts at gmail.com, or you can just go to our site and click on the little envelope, and there's also a search function. So if you want to see, like, every episode that, I don't know, Tim Sexton was in, boom, you can see that instantly. I'm still kind of cleaning it up. I did, like, an import, and I have to fix the links for a lot of the actual files. so I uploaded all 85 mp3 files
    20:25
which took a long time probably like hours and hours and hours so I'm trying to fix everything but this is going to be your one stop shop I know most people are probably just going to go to Facebook and like Pinside and all that anyway that's fine but I just wanted to have like a central location where all the episodes are all the old episodes will be up here so Robert Byers episode 8 that you couldn't get from Podcast Garden You'll be able to get it now. Yay. So we just wanted to throw that out there.
    20:58
It's going to be cool. I mean, it's just I disable comments and all that shit. It's just going to be literally like where our episodes are housed. I mean, most people are probably just going to still use the podcast catcher of their choice. But we actually see where you're coming from fully. Yes. We'll have great numbers. Yes. I will be in control of our actual RSS feed, and we'll be using actual stats that freaking work, like the useless stats provided by Podcast Garden. I've already canceled our Podcast Garden account, which, well, it renews in July,
    21:34
so it'll stay around until then. I believe it'll still stick around. We just won't be uploading there anymore. I'm not going to delete it or anything. It'll still be there, but it served its purpose. but when you're doing a weekly podcast, you can't have as many issues as Podcast Garden has had. They've been good the last couple of weeks. But they're definitely going to fail again. Yeah. If you're going to have one occasionally or a couple times a month, or if you're really hard-pressed for cash, I would still say they're a good deal.
    22:08
It's like $40 for the whole year, and you can just post as much as you want, and this stuff stays out there forever. So I'm not going to disparage them too much because they served their purpose, but we needed something more reliable and something we're in full control of. Or I guess I'm in full control of. You're in full control of. I just sit back and watch. I give you the passwords. You just never lock it. Not for the website. No, I'm not giving you that. See? So then, see, you didn't give me any control. See, you heard him first, guys and gals.
    22:39
God. So I can just remove you like Rob Burke did for Mike Pacek. Yeah. What happened there? Yeah, we're going to get into the news. Piece of news time, folks. A piece of news. This comes from pinballnews.com. Hello, Martin. Not Martin of the Head to Head podcast, but the other Martin. And this is their big headline. Somehow my picture is on there. Like I'm in the picture. You can see the back of my head in my sweater.
    23:10
Surprise. If you go to pinballnews.com and you read this Pinball Expo 2018 latest news article, you'll see some dude with a blue sweater looking at a Pirates of the Caribbean, and that's me. Of course it is. So if you remember, the original story was basically Rob Burke said, I had enough, I'm leaving, I'm going to do my own show, I'm going to do Pinnapalooza. It's going to be in September at a different area in Chicago. What was it? Schomburg? Schomburg? Whatever.
    23:41
Schomburg. Some suburban area. And that was the deal. And then later on, it's like he, Rob Burke, actually has the Pinball Expo name. He owns the Pinball Expo name. And what came out last week, or was this April 3rd, that Rob Burke now actually owns everything. He's dumped the show he was going to run. So Pinball Palooza is dead. And he is now going to be running Expo at the Westin on the usual dates.
    24:14
Mm-hmm. And he has Dayfix, who you know, a buffalo, is going to be doing the exhibit hall. George Gomez is going to be the banquet speaker. And Rob Craig is going to be doing the free play, the games hall. Supposedly, they got an additional 5,000 square feet, pretty much all the hotel's exhibit space, and they want to just fill it with games. Good idea. And Mike Fasek is not going to be allowed in. So literally, he will not be allowed in the show that he ran for 30 years.
    24:48
Yep. So what are your views on this? What's your take on this news? I hope it's not too little too late for this show. We both have commented that the show has not been what it used to be. and people have brought it down. I've seen arguments. I've seen everything from it. It's weird how most people don't know this, but in the past, they used to pay people to keep their games there all week
    25:18
and then towards the end of the weekend, people were like, okay, where's my money? And people weren't paying. So that's why you don't see as many games as you used to at Expo. Yeah, I've seen that firsthand. a particular person who used to bring games all the time, lots of high-end Stern and Bally shit there. Fun original stuff. The frontier with an NOS play field on it, et cetera. And he was leaving on Sunday, and it's like Mike was not going to pay him,
    25:48
and stuff happened. And let's just say he did eventually get paid, but he was not too keen on bringing his games anymore, and I don't believe he's been to the last couple expos. Yeah, not good. No. Yeah, so it's not good for all of us. No, messy situation. We'll see how it goes. Maybe this will be the renaissance, the resurgence. Or it could be just a continuing slow death of pain. Continuing slow death of pain, wow. Pain. Wait a minute, slow death of pain.
    26:20
Another Bruce-ism, I think. It is. I love your Bruce-isms because they make great titles. So, Ron, I have a thing for you to look at. You have a thing for me to look at? Okay, we still have more news. Okay, we can do that. Okay, so that was one of the major news items. Yes. So we'll see how that goes. Let me go over to thisweekinpinball.com. Ta-da! Hi, Jeff.
    26:50
See, Iron Maiden, they're going to be streaming again. It's actually going to be Tuesday, which by the time you hear this, will be two days ago. Yes. 4 p.m. Eastern, wasn't it, or Central? 4 p.m. Central, so 5 p.m. Eastern. They will be doing Iron Maiden again, and it may be saved. There was no guarantee, but that's going to be on dead flip. Supposedly Keith Elwin will be going through all the rules again. I'm guessing Tim Balls will be there.
    27:20
Tim Balls, Tim Balls, Tim Balls. Tim Balls will be there, so he's the apprentice. Keith would be the emperor. Yeah. And what did we get to see? We got to see a ramp from the LE. We did? Yeah. What's that on? It's on thisweekinpinball.com, Bruce. Where do I see that? It shows. So when will the premium and LE come out? Limited edition later this month, and premium should be not long after. It's basically peak of one of the ramps. It's got a pharaoh head cut out.
    27:52
Oh, yeah, I see it now. When I see that, I think of the game. Raw, raw. Ah, tomb, tomb. What the hell show was that that always had the Pharaoh? I think it was Pacific Pinball Expo. They'd always have the Pharaoh, and it'd be cranked up. That's all you would hear is, like, the Pharaoh. Tomb, tomb. I noticed that there's a lot of parties coming up soon for the Iron Maiden opening box launch parties. I'm waiting for the Rock Fantasy one. It's going to be the grandest of all.
    28:25
Absolutely guarantee. You know, the Midwest Gaming Classic takes place this weekend, Bruce. It does? And are they going to have one? Yes, yes. Oh, that was the other part of the story I didn't mention, is that originally when Rob Burke was going to have his own show, Mike Pacek was in discussions with the Midwest Gaming Classic guys. I can't remember their names, I'm sorry. But they were going to basically run, like, the Midwest Gaming Classic South, if you will. That's what was going to be run in October.
    28:57
with my kind of being more of an ambassador role and not doing most of the running of the show. That came out after the Roberts taking over announcement. Okay. That was on Pinside. Mm-hmm. So what was I saying? Oh, yes, Midwest Gaming Classic, they're going to have like up to 30 Iron Maidens set up to play there. So this is definitely going to be the big, you're going to be more Iron Maidens, more people playing Iron Maidens. It's going to be great.
    29:27
American Pinball is going to be there with Houdini. Chicago Gaming doesn't sound like they will actually be revealing Monster Bash yet. And Spooky Pinball will be there with Alice Cooper with New Code. There you go. Big Lebowski update, Skip. Sorry, sorry. Path of Play Day is coming up. Yes, it is. Is that this weekend? No, that is coming up. I think the 28th.
    29:59
I think it's the 28th. All right. Well, I had during my stream, if you looked in the upper left-hand corner, you would have seen the link for that. Yep. So check that out. You go back to our Twitch page and check out the Cheetah stream. It's right on there. Let's see. That's about it. Was there any new code? Oh, there was more new code. TNA had an update. Yep, 1.2. At least a lot of the co-op code is now official.
    30:30
And I think Scott Denise, he said it's pretty much done. It's just bug fixes at this point. There you go. So play the hell out of it and find any bugs. New Aerosmith code also. New Aerosmith code. Man, all this new code. Where's the code? We found the code. It's everywhere. Did you listen to Jeff Teolis from Pinball Profile this week? Who? Jeff Teolis. Was that that guy in Price is Right? Yes, it was, and that's what I'm going to talk about. Oh. Well, he wasn't on Price is Right, but – No. Well, he was.
    31:01
They had him in the background. They had him in the back – okay. Yes. They actually showed him in the background. Go ahead. You explain it. But Fred – what's his last name? Richardson, I think it's named? You're probably right. You might actually be right that time. Wow. This is – hold on. Let me write this down. This is a banner day. Banner day. Well, the guys were in the end disc, and before that, they actually all got tickets for the Price is Right. Okay, who were the guys? I couldn't tell you except for Phil Birnbaum, Jeff Teolis, and Fred.
    31:34
And – I couldn't tell you the other ones. Oh, man. Jason Wendrick was there. How do I not know this? Donovan Stepp. I think I got it. I had a picture of them all in the crowd. Yeah. So continue. So Fred actually made it on the stage in the beginning, but he didn't get up on stage until the fourth. And he won about $8,500 for the prizes and then tried to spin the wheel but did not make it. So he was done, but he did a great showing, and they all had pinball and Plinko shirts on, all matching.
    32:11
And it was a good time and fun. You know people to actually make it on a game show. The interesting thing about Price is Right is they always put your legal name on your name tag. So I would have to be Ronald. There's no short names. So when Fred was on there, he was Frederick. Yes, Frederick. Jeffrey is Jeffrey Teolas. Yes. Yep. I honestly always wanted to be on that show just to spin the wheel. I want to spin the wheel.
    32:42
So I think with some practice, I could – as long as it's consistent, if you can practice that, which no one can practice it, obviously. Of course not. But if you could, I think you could consistently get around the dollar. So congratulations. Yes. They were allowed to finally talk about it because they had a non-disclosure forms. They had to write up. Yes, which when they said they couldn't talk about it, you knew immediately one of them made it on. Of course. you know so trash talker invitational podcast or bloodbath were there any other
    33:16
people selected well we weren't so uh go fuck that thing bastards they picked uh oh they oh that right the canadian pinball podcast which is just north north of New England So you know it just like New England north Okay, Bruce, you realize I'm less than like 20 minutes or so from New England, right? I know. So you get the brutalness first. I get the brutalness first. What's your address say? New York. Thank you very much. All right.
    33:47
They made fun of you, though. Oh, yeah, they did. The Trash Talker Invitational Committee made fun of your horrifically bad choice of entrance music. I love that song. ELO, really, Bruce? I have a better one. First, I want to jive talking. I'll get my nice... Yeah, you got my approval on that selection. But I have a better one now. It's not going to be a Steel Panther song, is it? No, actually, that would be better, better. Asian Hooker. That would be definitely cool. Yeah, that would be great, Bruce.
    34:17
That would go over well. No, I'm going to play a Kiss song. Oh, no. All hell's breaking loose. What do you think? I think I'm going to throw up. Well, keep it in your mouth. Oh. Take one for the team. Oh, God, no. No, no, no, no, no. So they picked a New England and a New England North.
    34:47
So, you know, you can see what a bias this has already started. So Canada is New England North. I'll have to remember that. And then they also picked for next year already the Eclectic Gamers podcast because those guys can't make it. New England North. It does explain why they all have weird accents. Yep. See? All right. Yeah, you're right. You know, I think you're onto something there. Sorry? All right. So we haven't heard anything else from the selection committee. and I found out that head-to-head, their ringers are not ringers for them anymore.
    35:19
They did not get the Sharp Brothers. Well, were they even selected yet? No, but they were planning. They're planning, okay. But they said they're not getting the Sharp Brothers, so they have asked also like what Jeff Teolas has asked for, people to help them out with their – because they get double ringers. Okay, so what happened? So the Sharps said they were going to do it and then just bail on them? No, no, no. They were just joking with them. They said it was all a joke. It was all a joke, yeah. That's what they're saying.
    35:50
Who knows? It could be a joke to a joke. Yeah, a joke to a joke. Well, the thing is, if you remember, what do the Sharp brothers typically do as soon as the tournament's over? They go and eat. Well, yeah, they leave. They don't hang out. They don't hang around. They never have that I've seen. That's why I thought it was weird that it's like, really, they're going to do this? Because usually they'd be gone. Usually they've had enough of playing by that point. I agree. And now I have another segue. Oh, another segue. Okay, what's the segue?
    36:20
Congratulations, Zach Sharp, for your new bundle of joy coming in August. Which means no more tournaments for you. Yep, you're fucked. You're fucked. You better get tournaments in while you can. Yep. Also, another piece of news. Let's congratulate Raymond Davidson. World's number one player. in the world the number one player in the world yes so he's the world champion of the world nope he's just a rated ranked the number one player okay and he's a slam tilt guy he's a
    36:56
slam tilt i'm a slam tilt guy man yo i don't think i've heard him on any other podcast of you uh yes oh he was on another podcast i think he was on like a pinball profile that doesn't count that's just 10 minutes of glory he gets two hours with us two hours of glory okay yes I miss these solo podcasts why no these are awesome banter I guess oh wait a minute it's not solo
    37:26
I did a Bruce-ism I mean these duo podcasts I feel like we're one and the guest is the second one Sounds like a duo. See? There you go. So I have found, since you put me on to Pinball News, I just noticed an article from February 2018 where we can make you a better player, Ron. That's not possible. I'm already awesome. Okay. So I'm not awesome?
    37:58
Who's the Pintastic champion? Who's the inaugural Pintastic champion? Thank you. Continue. Well, we can make your games even easier and you a better player. All right. They have an adjustable flipper bat. What the hell does that mean? You can make your flipper bat bigger so you have less of a flipper gap. All right. So if your flipper bat gets excited, you can say more balls. Okay. So if you go to Pinball News.
    38:30
I'm there. And go to Learn up top. and you'll see there's a drop-down bar, and below that it says, Add Pin, Flipper Bat, and Buttons. Add Pin, A-D-P-I-N. Mm-hmm. Okay. That's interesting. I have to say I've never seen that before. I wonder how that works with the rubber, though. I don't know. You're going to have to have, like, the rubber can't be too tight in that, or it's going to be a problem. Wow, did I just say that? I know you did. Oh, my. We've got flippers getting longer.
    39:01
We've got to make sure the rubber's not too tight. Can we move on to another subject? You can actually maybe make a Ghostbusters actually fun. Nah, not possible. Who are you going to call? Nope. Not going to call. So that's it for the news and other stuff. Let's see, what else? And shit. You're going to talk about something before the news? Yes, I was going to talk about something. You got called out today. I got called out today.
    39:31
Yep. How did I get called out? On another podcast. All right. On the Head to Head podcast. Who? Head to Head, you know, two Australians, wacky banter. Oh, okay. They sell their soundtrack to Canada. Okay. Whoever that is. Yeah. Who? But they actually had Chris Franchion. Love that guy. But he made fun of you. What a dick. I mean. And he listens to our show. Oh, man. Which we actually got to pull, too. What did he say?
    40:01
He said that you didn't make a full-blown comment that he's never even played No Fear, supposedly, and he beat you handily because Ryan said the flipper was wonky. Was that the truth? Huh? Okay, we had a wonky flipper, but if I remember, and our listeners can go back to the episode, I believe I said, like, he kicked all our asses. Yeah, but I think he won. Was that not good enough? I don't think so because you own the no fear.
    40:33
That's why. And you, I guess. All right. You were waiting for me to say, like, I got my ass kicked by Christopher. Oh, I got my ass handed to me by the great Christopher Franchio. I beg for forgiveness for this oversight of your tremendous talent and not putting it over to the degree in which it deserves. Please forgive me. Okay, that's better. Is that good enough? Okay. Okay, that's better. I think he'll be very happy. All right, hopefully he forgives me. Hi, Chris. Wow, I thought he kicked all our asses would be sufficient, but I guess not.
    41:04
But he did say that their podcast is the best podcast of all. Okay. They're helping me with the website. I can't say anything bad about them. Wow. They might just take that website away from me. We've got to watch out, man. We piss off head-to-head, man. They'll be like, you thought your website was nice. Why don't you go there now and see what it looks like? No. And it's gone. No, it just says slam tilt sucks. Yeah, it says slam tilt sucks in all the files. All the files are just deleted.
    41:36
Let's see. Let's go to the mail ball bag. The mail ball bag. Got Ryan from Wisconsin. Hi, Ryan. He hasn't sent us an email in a while. He says, hey, boys. I recently was able to pick up a game that's been on my short list of affordable games. I got a demo, man. Nice. Come on, Bruce. Say it. All right. I cannot believe that Pinside has this game ranked at 108. I know. They're fucking high. Are you kidding me?
    42:07
Yep. You got some good people there. I mean, yeah. God, I love that game. Come on. 108? This game is awful with awesome music and great call-outs, especially with the profanity ROMs. Make sure you get those. Looking at some of the other games ranked ahead of it is laughable. Anyway, after I got the game, I watched Ron's playthrough on YouTube to make sure I had a good understanding of how to play. Just wanted to say thanks for all the great content you are putting out, and Slim Tilt is still my favorite pinball podcast.
    42:37
Keep up the great work. Thank you, Ryan. Okay, I got a question for you now. Actually, before we do the question, I need to go to Pinside and see what some of the comments are. No, no, no, no, freeze, freeze. Don't before you do that. Okay. Demolition Man or Stargazer, which is lower? Which is the lower number? Lower or higher? Which is ranked higher, you mean? Which is ranked better. Which is ranked better? Stargazer is probably ranked better. No. No? Really? I would think that's a darling game. You would think that would be ranked – interesting.
    43:09
Oh, wait. What's Stargazer ranked at? You're not going to kiss me on the forehead. I'm going to give you a couple more things. So Demoman or TX Sector? Ooh. Demoman's a better overall game. You're right on that one. Demoman – okay, I'm going to throw in some weird ones now. Demoman and Catacomb. Oh, Demoman. No one even understands Catacomb. Really? Ranked higher. Wait a minute. Demoman's going up, though. It's 105 now. Yes, it is. But Catacomb is ranked 100. Really?
    43:39
Yeah. Really? It's ranked higher than Stargazer. It's ranked higher than Baywatch. I know. And Centaur. Paragon's 97. What does that tell you? I'm just going to go under Demoman here and let's see. What do we got here? I want to hear some of the ratings here, some of the comments. All right, so I'm at the comments. Let's see what they got to say. And I think I can sort this now looking at it. Yeah, rating sort order. Let's do low to high.
    44:12
Here we go. Very boring. okay you know you could say things about it like the artwork sucks but that's that's years ago but calling it boring oh so it changed so four years ago it sucked and now it's better yeah because people are a little stupid theme and very large what three ugly individuals staring at me yeah i can agree with that here's a good one very ugly wide body although plus one with full led conversion
    44:44
No, that's a negative one. Smooth rams with great flow. Save this one from being a dud. Not sure about the left side of the play field. I got one last one, and this says it all about why we make fun of Pinside. Not so good, in my opinion. Too big and, get this, lacks flow. Oh, my God. Then he doesn't know what flow is. What? This is the flowiest wide body that has ever been made. Yeah. Okay. All right. So, thank you, Ryan. so we got an email from
    45:16
Parnell Lutz hello I think he's the one who recommended some of the coin mechs hello again guys so no coin mech is good such is life right damn I was hoping those would help I am off to the Midwest Gaming Classic and someone is bringing a set of used sea witch plastics any interest in those hmm also a friend and I started a podcast
    45:48
and we are hosted on PodcastGuard and I agree it is okay when it works but the analytics suck balls let me know what you guys decide on I'd be curious to know how the move goes well we are moving to our own site yes and we're going to use PowerPress for stats which I believe that is basically free if you have your RSS feed. I think it just, it pre-pens the thing onto the links of all the actual podcast episodes. So whenever anyone downloads or accesses it,
    46:20
that's how it gets all the stats. And I believe that part's free. I may be wrong there. I believe that you have to set up an account with PowerPress. It's called, I think the product's called PowerPress and then the vendor is something else. But that's what we're going to do. Player 21496. Look what Steph started. Everyone's putting their player numbers here. Our podcast is Pinball, Arcade, and Video Games, Flipping and Mashing. I'll have to check them out. Is that the actual name?
    46:51
It doesn't... I'm going to look right now. Yeah. Let's find it out. Let's find it. Let's search. Want to plug the show? They love the show, Parnell. Is it Flippin' or Flipping? It's just a sentence. It doesn't really say it like it's the actual name. It's just Pinball, Arcade, and Video Games. Maybe Flippin' and Mashing is the name of the podcast, maybe? It is. That is it. There you go. So check that out. Flippin' and Mashing. And I'm going to subscribe and listen to them.
    47:21
So, Ron, according to the rocket scientist over at Pinside, what game is better, Alien Star or Monopoly? That's a tough one. I'd rather play Alien Star. Okay. And I'm going to throw another curveball in there. I'm going to throw two more curveballs in there. I like Monopoly, but I like Alien Star. Shorter game, harder game. Okay, here we go. Which one's the best one that they have rated? Monopoly, Laser Q, Alien Star, or Indiana Jones?
    47:53
The Stern, Indiana Jones. Oh, okay. The Stern, Indiana Jones is what they have rated the highest. Nope, it's still the lowest. Okay, come on. Okay, so Pitside's not that bad. It's tied with Alien Star. Really? So Alien Star is just as good as Indiana Jones. Yeah. The Stern. One of the worst Stern games I've ever played. Yes. That might be, you know, here you go, Bruce. Let's think about this one. Put your thinking cap on. Oh, it's on. What's the worst Stern game you've played?
    48:25
It has to be one of the NFL games or the soccer game. What's it called? The NFL ones, you know, they converted and also did the soccer. Striker Extreme. Terrible game. Okay, so that's worse than Indiana Jones. Yes. I'd have to say out of all the Stern ones I've played, that was my least favorite. Indiana Jones. NBA is way better than that. And then Harley Davidson's right behind it. Well, wait a minute. Harley, did they have a Stern Harley Davidson? Oh, yeah. They had three versions of it.
    48:56
God. Okay. Let's move on. We invited George Takei. We did. He did not respond to us. Of course not. Come on, George. You know you want it. You've been listening secretly all this time. We'll be able to tell now. If we get a spot in Hollywood, California, then we know we got him. He's ours. Oh, the stats? Yes. So if we see Hollywood, California, all right. We know. I thought he lived in San Francisco. Oh, my.
    49:26
We got an email from John Cosson, Dr. John. Dr. John rocks. Hello, lads. Just a quickie. Oh. Hmm, probably been told, but the pics are mirrored on the iPhone if you use the front camera. Oh, so that explains why all of Jeff Teolis' stuff is reversed. Yes. Let's see. Took this pic in homage to Bruce's driving pics, although mine was only an hour each way. Oh, amateur. I know. What the heck?
    49:57
That hour each way is like, what, 30 minutes U.S.? What the hell did that mean? because it like kilometers compared to miles oh okay it was a creature from the black Lagoon It has a new home Nice Congratulations Sean Enjoyed hanging out It not done Enjoyed hanging out at the Texas Pinball Festival with Ron. Funniest part was seeing Ron Sr. at the sports bar one afternoon alone after Ron Jr. telling us he wouldn't go there because his dad wouldn't like it,
    50:31
which was a lie. I just said that because I didn't want to go there. Oh. Yeah. Hurry up and finish that god-bloody Zilla and get back into some good movies. Dr. John. See? Wow, yeah. I thought the Godzilla thing would be more popular. Doesn't seem to be catching on like I hoped it would. Nope. I think we're going to have to go MCU next. Since you got your pick, I get to pick mine now. Go with what? MCU. What the hell's MCU? Marvel Comics Universe. Oh, no. There's like 30,000 of those movies.
    51:02
You've killed me now. Now I'm going to kill you. Okay, we're going to include like Blade. Yeah. Original Fantastic Four, other Fantastic Four. We'll do it all. Oh, my God. That'll take to episode 200. We can even do the original Punisher. The original Punisher. Okay. So we can go all out. We can even do Daredevil and everything else. And everything else. Oh, God. So we will be here forever. All right. So we emptied the mail ball bag. And, yes, the typical sound effects from Bruce.
    51:33
Of course. It just never stops. It never stops. we will move it into archived email. Have you heard from Steph if she's starting her podcast yet or no? Have you heard anything? I cannot say on the air. Ooh. So I hope that's a positive for everyone. That'd be a good thing. So we'll go to the next segment now that I have all set up, ready to rock. Oh, you have a segment set up and ready to rock. Preparation. H? Sure, sure. Okay, what's the segment?
    52:05
Would I? Or would I not buy that? But there's no guest. We can talk about it between us. Okay. I'm ready. Explain it for our listeners at home. We pick a couple of beautiful gems or not-so-beautiful gems on eBay, and people are trying to either get good money for it or it could be a diamond in the rough, and you might find the deal of the day. Is Black Sheep Squadron still out there? Oh, I hope so. God, I'll check real fast.
    52:35
Hold on. Hey, the one liked that game. See, what does that tell you? That tells you it's got to be decent. No. But you can buy the DVDs if you want the Black Sheep Squadron. To the show? Yes. All right, I'm ready. Okay, got to get back to it now because I have to get back to my eBay. Okay, ticket number 182871-300-234.
    53:05
pin bot needs mpu and playfield restoration all right let's look at the pictures oh my playfield restoration what's wrong ron ron you got a problem um where's the art oh it's there barely it is there you can see the saturn holy sometimes you can see part of uranus yeah you are um the visor's not that bad uh oh i like all the uh marker stuff on the side of
    53:47
the cabinet that's great yeah see mpu damage completely trashed play field um all right let's see what the full description says here i have downsized uh blah blah whatever my five bedroom house boy wow okay to an apartment it sounds like you bruce yeah the machine was saved and has a great body and artwork uh the playfield either needs a hundred percent restoration or to
    54:18
be swapped and will need an mpu replacement so being that you're going to need a what Playfield. Two $300 Playfield and a what? How much does a board cost? About $350. But the Playfield's not going to be $200. You're talking like $800, $700 for a nice one. So you're talking right there. You're talking two grand. And the side art's not that nice because it's got marker all over it. So you would not buy it for the $1,050?
    54:49
No, not for that. I'd give you maybe $100 for it. $100? Well, you could make an offer. Yes, I could make an offer for $100. All right, so we would not buy that, all right? We would not buy that. That is a bad deal. But when you people see that, you're going to go, oh, my. You're on time. T-Rex arms was yawning. Great thing. Ticket number 222912671751.
    55:20
Hmm. 1978 Stern Memory Lane Pinball Machine. Mm-hmm. One of three Stern solid-state games with chimes. What are the two? Stingray and Stars. Very good. Let me see here. Oh, we got some wear. Actually, we got a lot of wear on the inserts. Go ahead. You haven't noticed the best thing yet. I haven't noticed the best thing yet. Well, I went through all the pictures. Okay, go back to that first one.
    55:51
Am I missing something? Oh, you're missing something. Well, at least you put the glass down. Partially. Yeah. Well, yeah, there's wear pretty much everywhere. Look at number eight and number five. Oh, are they missing entirely or something? Yeah, the rollovers are missing completely. And do you notice on the left, there's some kind of, oh, the outlanes are just like a, what do you call it? Like a ponytail? A ponytail, yeah. A hair tie. A hair tie, like going around blocking the outline so you can't trade.
    56:24
So you can never lose except for straight down the middle. So it's worn to shit. Let's see the description. Works great. All lights and chimes work. In original condition. Never restored. Has been in my possession for the last 35 years. Well, if that's true, man, you played the fuck out of it. Holy shit. $800. I will say one thing for this game. The back glass is perfect on it. Most of these back glasses took a dump. this back glass is near perfect. The only other issue is the seller has zero feedback.
    56:56
Yes. That's kind of, but it's free local pickup. So you can grab it and go bring a buddy. Your doodle bug did not sell that last time. So is that it anymore? I'm looking right now. Hold on. I got one more. I'm looking at, so we would not buy this one. No, we would not buy this one. This one was pretty scary. Nope. I think that's it for tonight. There wasn't much, but I saw those two gems and cringed. Cringed? Cringed. All right.
    57:26
So I think that's empty. We emptied the mail ball bag. We did a piece of news. I think we're just about done. How about upcoming events? What do we got? We have this Sunday at the Silver Bowl Saloon, we have a Stern Army three to four strikes tournament, depending on how many players we get. Come on out. we start doors open at three we start at four it's six dollars to play and you have a chance to win a stern translate stern translate of uh what uh you'll pick a number one through nine
    58:00
oh they have nine of them and then you'll get that one so you have nine different games or just nine different nine different games nine different games wow yep so what's your rank in the Stern Army? I am private. Really? I'm not first class, but I'm just private. So come check that out. And then next Saturday, the 21st, we have our first Critical Hits tournament at the bar. $11 to join. We're going to have a three strikes Critical Hit tournament. So come out, come one all.
    58:31
That is $11. We open the doors at 12 and we start at 2 p.m. Let's see. What else is coming up? Well, there's the Midwest Gaming Classic, I guess, but a little far away. But check that out. I went one year. I'll say one thing. It had the biggest – not flea market. It was the – I want the right term for it. Oh, like exhibit hall, I guess you could say. It wasn't really – it was just like completely jam-packed with tables.
    59:04
You could just buy so many different things. It was insane. I mean, a lot of it was video games, but still. Okay. Because it's one of the, and they would take over the entire hotel. It was a unique experience. But they're going to have at least, I guess, 30 Iron Maidens there. So check that out. Get your Iron Maiden fix. Don't forget, four weeks till Allentown. Well, we're living here in Allentown.
    59:35
It's going to be a different tournament format this year. I think they're doing it across two days now. Yep. So you shouldn't have to rush to try to get your entries in, and then you can't. And don't forget, I am not selling this year, but I will bring down stuff if you PM me. I already have one single rotisserie sold, so don't forget your lifters, tilters, and everything. You can check us out at – I'm freaking brain farting. PB Lifter? Pinball Lifter. Pinballlifter.com.
    60:05
I brain farted totally. I was thinking about something else completely. So you can come check us out. I can bring it down if you talk to me. Excuse me, don't go on number two. Three, I think. That's what happens when you actually move a lot of pinball machines in one day. You get tired. So does that mean the basement's empty? I have Black Spider-Man's wrapped. The video game and the jukebox is ready to go. but the big game is still vertical and it's still ready to play and so is the uh sea witch and that's
    60:40
it and and also timeline but jerry's coming to get the timeline next week finally jerry so the guy who actually bought it is just not going to get it i don't think so okay that was a wow isn't it that was a wow i mean how many years was that game there five years five years jerry brought it there It was sold, but the guy that bought it never came to pick it up. You got it. Yep. Okay, Ron, one more question. All right. Which has a worse rating on Pinside, Bugs Bunny's birthday ball or Hercules?
    61:15
So what game do they think sucks more? Yes. Man, that's tough. They both kind of suck. Man, that is really hard. I can't even. I would rather have Bugs Bunny's birthday ball just because it'd be easier to sell because it's smaller. Okay. You are right. Hercules is the last number, 351, of suckage. I don't know if it just sucks as much. I mean, it actually doesn't play bad. It doesn't play bad, actually. I like it. It's like trying to get parts for it.
    61:45
Let's put it this way. I know someone sent one of those to Chris Hutchins of High End Pins. He does all these high-end pinball restorations. He had to send it back to him. He never finished it because he just couldn't get parts. Wow. So tread lightly if you want that game, because if something really goes wrong on it, good luck. Yeah. Oh, there's one game that's probably not going to be at Expo this year. Hercules, Hercules, Hercules.
    62:17
Because that was Mike Pacek's Hercules. Yes, it was, and so was the Flintstones. Yeah, so I doubt those games are going to be there. There probably will not be a Jolly Park. Nope. Or a Vern's World or whatever it was called. Yep. Or even the, what's it called, the chopper guys. Norwich County Choppers or Richie Rich. Yep. Or Aaron Spelling. Yep. But I know Rob has some older weird games, so we might see some new stuff he might pull out. Because since it's his show, he might feel the need to bring a ton of games.
    62:49
You said pull out. Pull out, big boy. I know he's looking for a cheetah bruise, just saying. Yeah, I beat him to it. You beat him to it. All right. So, friends of the show? No, we have no friends anymore right now. We have no friends? No friends. The reason why is because they're all against us in the bloodbath. Yeah. You know what? Until we get invited to the bloodbath. There are no friends of the show. There are no friends. Guess what? They're all enemies. So, screw you guys.
    63:21
Going home. Screw you guys. I'm going home. Going home. But I will say, Pinball Star, Joe Newhart. He sells your spooky American pinball, Jersey Jack, and home pin games. Or she can just have a much shorter drive and play her own. But this is Brucified. Oh, it's Brucified. It does have ridiculously strong flippers. It is the strongest flipper stern I've ever played. The strongest flipper friggin' sea witch I've ever played. I don't know what the deal is.
    64:58
I think it's the strongest stern. I mean, did you put steroids in that game? I think that game would fail a drug test. It would. I think so. I think it's abroided up. shout out to all the other podcasts but we can't name you until we get picked and if you don't pick us screw you all of you we'll never mention you again yep there you go this has been episode 86 of the slam till podcast we can be reached at slam till podcast at gmail.com but an easier way is just go to our website slam till podcast.com look in the upper right hand corner it's got all
