it's time for another pinball profile i'm your host jeff teels you can find everything on pinballprofile.com past episodes subscriptions and more we're on facebook we're on twitter and Instagram at pinball profile. You can email pinball profile at gmail.com. And if you'd like to show your support on Patreon, that would be much appreciated. Thanks to recent supporters, Sean C, GME Law, and also Rodney C. This is a very, very quick turnaround pinball profile for me. Why? A lot is happening. It is March the 7th, recording the same day I'm releasing it because it's a busy day. It's an exciting day. It's a wonderful month in pinball. I want to self-promote the event I'm doing in Buffalo in August called The Beast. We'll get to that later. There's bigger news. Let's be honest. This might be the biggest month in pinball, perhaps, for releases in 10 years. To the best of my recollection, anyway. Just to recap and some personal thoughts to things you may or may not already know. Of course, Spooky came out with Scooby-Doo. We're seeing those on location now. Carl D'Python Anghelo on IE Pinball did a wonderful stream of that game at Ace Goge in Southern Cal. Boy, did that ever look like fun. Absolutely a beautiful machine. I love the theme. The call-outs were great. Some fun shots. I think there are going to be a lot of happy Scooby-Doo pinball machine owners thanks to Spooky and the upgrades they've done since their last machines. And I can't wait to play it. Tip of the cap to Stern Pinball and Jack Danger. Congratulations on Foo Fighters. You, Tanya Klais, Zombie Yeti, Raymond Davidson, the entire team there at Stern put together a fun music pin. What a unique story. The Saturday morning cartoons idea. That's got Foo Fighters written all over it. Fighting aliens. It's nice to see some of the things that Jack was working on when he was creating his homebrew game years ago on Deadflip. I really like those streams where he was actually building it and kind of just doing some tech talk. and I remember when Ed Owens was on, Ed did that homebrew for Ghost in the Shell. And just seeing that nice little outlane post-kickup thing, glad to see that in Foo Fighters and all the other things you put in there. Appreciate all the streams you've done over the years, but selfishly, I'm glad you've graduated to designer because you've got some real skills there, Jack. Congratulations. We've been getting the little teasers for the new American pinball machine from Dennis Dorbin, Galactic Tank Force. An original idea with a great story mode. Fun as always Dennis Nordman layout. And I may have played it once or twice. Loved shooting it. What I'm excited to see is the unique story that they have to put together. They don't have any assets. There's no IP. It's all creativity. The world is their oyster. And based on some of the teases, the artwork, the videos we're seeing, I think we're going to be very happy with Galactic Tank Force. Since day one, I have been a fan of Gerry Stellenberg's P3 pinball platform. and now we have a new module, Final Resistance, from creative director Scott Denisey I always enjoyed Scott games Of course the music certainly comes to life but it looks like we got a lot more here with The Rules by Bowen Kerins Software Light Shows by Michael Ocean Graphics by Rory Sanuda and pretty impressive artwork from Jonathan Bergeron Watch for the live stream of gameplay coming up on St. Paddy's Day, 7 o'clock Central Time. I know one thing for sure, there's no way aliens are going to be attacking Earth with Foo Fighters, Galactic Tank Force, and also Final Resistance. I think we're safe. and then today just not even half an hour ago we got to see the godfather come to life in the form of pinball thanks to jersey jack pinball eric manure and Keith P. Johnson have put together another winner and much like we're going to see on galactic tank force thank goodness christopher franchi we are going to see do some pinball art again it's been too long my friend and uh looking forward to seeing what you have in the next few years but really excited with galactic tank force and this Godfather machine. Holy cow. It's funny in the Godfather, you have to choose one of the five families. Well, that's a choice a lot of us are going to be making right now as we look at the five pinball families. Can you join them all? Can you get the new machine from Spooky? Can you get the new one from Stern? Can you get the new one from American Pinball? Is P3 coming to the dinner table? Or the Godfather? From what I've seen, no losers whichever one you pick. Just make sure you invite me over so I can have a few flips. Which brings us to the Texas Pinball Festival. Wow. They always say things are bigger in Texas. I don't think they can get any bigger than this. You've got those five new machines. Maybe a Bond LE. Pinball Brothers should be there with Queen Pinball. Looking forward to playing that again with the new upgrades. Our good friends from Australia, Haggis Pinball will be there. We know Chicago Gaming is working on things too. What a year. What a month for pinball. Now, if only I can win the lottery. Although some people have recently. Thanks to Project Pinball. Boy, they're doing amazing things. Three Bond LE machines. A Foo Fighters limited edition pinball machine raffle. First of all, thank you for your support for Project Pinball and help putting machines in children's hospitals all across America. But to Daniel Spoler, to Sierra, and the entire staff and volunteers at Project Pinball, keep up the amazing work. Okay, for yours truly. just when I think I'm settling in and back home in freezing cold Canada no no no I had a wonderful time at Lions Classic Pinball I don't know if you've heard this or not but there's some pretty good pinball players in Colorado Walt Wood took home the championship Zach McCarthy second Donovan step third Adam Lefkoff fourth thanks to Ryan and Cindy and Dee Dee and everyone at Lions Classic Pinball for an absolutely incredible time for not only myself but my wife as well so that's a place you need to check out if you're ever in Colorado. A lot of good pinball there. So that was one pinball profile played in America Tour Stop. There are only three more and two of them are this week. On my way to South Carolina to Bang Back Pinball Lounge. We're going to have fun Wednesday night. Watch for pictures on pinball profile on Facebook and Instagram. Then the next night, the game terminal in Nashville, Tennessee. That's a lot of pinball, right? No, no, no. There's more. If you think of the travel plans. Okay, I'm going down south and I'm going west to Tennessee. I got to come back up north Oh what on the way Louisville Arcade Expo Oh yeah that be fun this weekend Card format too So hope to see you at one of these events And of course going on at District 82 there's the pinball championships for North America. All the best from each state and province in the US and Canada. Pinmasters as well. Then the following week, we've got the women's championship. I can't say it enough. This is a crazy month in pinball and all for good reasons. So that brings me to my announcement, my event that's happening this August. I'm pretty sure in marketing they teach you, make sure you pick your spots when you do your announcements. You don't want your story to get buried. So I might have picked a busy time to announce this, but hey, what the heck? Got to get it out there. People are excited. What am I talking about? I'm talking about the beast buffalo extravaganza annual summer tournaments coming to buffalo this august 4th to 6th it is a presentation in part by american pinball and pinball profile four tournaments a main tournament a classics tournament women's tournament and a three strikes tournament big massive cash prizes we've got awesome trophies from ulick store if you haven't been to pocket your billiards i was there recently in august and love going there in fact the first big big tournament I ever won was at Pocketeer back in 2016. Still remember it like yesterday because there haven't been many in between. But the point is they're the home to over 80 pinball machines and they're always expanding. They have all the latest titles. You're going to be able to watch this action live on stream thanks to the Castleman family. You know them on Twitch. They're the pinballers. So we hope you can watch that. But really, we hope you can make it there. Weekend Pass is for the Beast. Will go on sale on Saturday, April 15th, 10 a.m. Eastern Time. There'll be lots of posts on Facebook. Of course, you can check out pinballprofile.com slash The Beast. We're limiting it to 120 players. And in fact, if you sign up within the first two days, you're going to get seven free game entries. So that's kind of exciting too. Big main event brought to you in part by Pinshades. You qualify Friday, you qualify Saturday. Finals on Sunday. We have a classics tournament. Qualify Friday, qualify Saturday morning. Playoffs on Saturday afternoon. That is brought to you in part by LTC Pinball. They make those cool mini pinball machines and beautiful pinball beach towels. And now they have pinball socks too. LTC Pinball. Check them out. Both the main and the classics certified IFPA events. The main worth 200%, classics 190. Excited to be having the women's tournament. Qualify all day on Friday and then Saturday morning we will have the playoffs. That is brought to you in part by Forever the Flip. Our final four will each be getting Forever the Flip hoodies. And as I mentioned, sponsors like Pinshades and LTC and Forever the Flip, we've actually got random prizes we're going to be giving away too. You don't have to finish in the top four. If you've ever come to a Played in America tour, you know I love giving away random prizes. The winners are going to get their Whoppers. The winners are going to get their trophies. But what about the prizes? Well, those go to everybody. And then if you don't make the playoffs on Sunday, well, what are you going to do? Boy, you know, you booked a hotel room. You're there for a couple days. Ah, shucks. I've got nothing to do Sunday. Ah, ah, ah, ah. That's where the three strikes tournament is. I saw Free Play Florida do this and I thought that's a great idea. They started this a couple years ago The people at the Pinball Lounge put this together and again it was great You want something to do you there anyway You playing all day Saturday you don know if you make the playoffs or not It midnight You already booked your room Give them something to do the next day That what we doing The Beast three strikes tournament Sunday morning Myself, Adam Becker, IFPA executive, will be running that tournament. We have some incredible techs. Adam Becker himself, Dave Fix, Shane Jackson from Maple Pinball, Bruce Nightingale, who you know. He's always done great things, not just with Slam Tilt Podcast, by the way. congratulations on their recent 200th episode, but also the Rochester Pinball Collective. If you've ever played at that facility, you know the machines are in tip-top shape. So again, this is August the 4th to the 6th. All the information is on pinballprofile.com slash the beast. There'll be a lot of pinball profile posts on Facebook as well, but the dates you need to remember, August 4th to 6 at Pocketeer Billiards. That's when the event is. Tickets go on sale Saturday, April 15th, 10 a.m. Eastern. I tell you, if the year ended right now, it would be a great year. We're only in March. I'm sure you can hear my excitement for all things pinball. My guess is you're probably equally excited as well. So if I don't see you in South Carolina at Bang Back Pinball Lounge or in Nashville, Tennessee at Game Terminal or at the Louisville Arcade Expo. Hope to see you at Texas Pinball Festival. That is going to be spectacular. You know all the machines are going to be there, all the great seminars, award shows and everything, and something else. There's something about seeing it on a big screen. I know firsthand. I'm talking about the movie Pinball, the man who saved the game, the story about Roger Sharp. Seen that movie a few times. Saw it in Indiana at the Heartland Film Festival way back last fall. But we also had Roger come up to Toronto last month for a special screening and Q&A, and it was a lot of fun. Ed Ed Robertson was there doing the Q&A. The blizzard didn't stop the pinball fans, let me just say that. So the exciting thing, on March 17th, you're going to be able to see this in select theaters, but also online, on Prime Video, and many other places that you can stream. But at Texas Pinball Festival, Friday night, see it on the big screen. Why? Roger will be there. A Q&A. you can talk to the man. It's a great double bill, in fact, because Emoto Harney and Todd Tuckey, their movie's going to screen right before it. And then we go right into Roger Sharpe's movie. And yours truly, and my final round pinball partner, Martin Robbins, will be conducting the Q&A with Roger after the movie. So seats are limited. Make sure you get there early for both movies at Texas Pinball Festival. Busy, busy month. How did I have time to do this? You find a way. Until we see each other again soon, this has been your pinball profile. You can find everything on pinballprofile.com. Subscriptions, past episodes, information about the beast. Join our Facebook group. We're on Twitter and Instagram, at pinballprofile. And if you would like to support us on Patreon, please do patreon.com slash pinballprofile.
