I know that I'm immature, but at least I'm not a goddamn failure. SOS, I'm calling. SOS, I'm calling out. SOS, I'm falling now. Upside down, upside down, upside down. My life is a roller coaster, roller coaster. Get me off this roller coaster. Sit, I, sit, I, sit, I, sit, I, sit, I, sit, I, sit. My mother who raised me to have this point of view, my mother who raised me to go into a restaurant and order the lobster, who raised me to go into the most expensive jewelry store and ask to try on a watch I can't afford, who raised me to always, always, always speak my mind and don't let people push you around. My mother got some bad news this week and it was really tough. She went in for a colonoscopy and they found some cancer. Now, the good news is the doctors feel it's manageable, but it hit me like a ton of bricks, as you can imagine. And it puts a lot of stuff in perspective. And, you know, I think perspective is really the theme of this show today because I'm looking behind me and I'm seeing this Pokemon Pinball machine that I've been enjoying tremendously since it arrived on Saturday. And then I go on to Pinside and I read Crazy Levy, you know, one of the most prolific personalities in this community who has spent 15 years or more. He's been playing pinball for like 40 something years. And these people have this attitude that they love pinball and they want to see more people get into pinball. And that has been their MO. And then he says this is one of the worst games ever, that he's embarrassed by the design, that he thinks it's atrocious. And that is it. That is it. That is where I am at in life. I am like enough with the babies and the losers and the moaners and the groaners and the whiners. Every single time something comes out that people are enjoying, they have to tear it down. They don't even see any good in Pokemon Pinball. Well, I'm just here to tell you right now, ladies and gentlemen, I am loving Pokemon Pinball. And I've said it on my last show. And I've said it on a few shows now. The reason why I love this game is that it's simple. Is that I can walk up to it and I can look down and I can see, okay, four characters, four shots, two shots per character. And then I light their story mode and then I shoot that third shot and I'm into their story mode. And if I do this, I can identify a Pokemon. And if I shoot over here, I can collect said Pokemon. And that is so refreshing. Watching most of these modern games, you walk up to them. You have no idea what to do. A lot of them you might own for years and there's so many elements of it. You will never know what to do. Is that enjoyable? And I just want to say this. The other thing I love about Pokemon is it makes me feel like a better pinball player because I don't want to spend my life wasting so many hours of the short time we have on this planet. Throw in pinball machines around tournaments at shows. I don't think that's a rich use of time. And yeah, so all you tournament players that hate this game, I got a message from everybody who's a homeowner, which, by the way, is more like 80 percent of the pinball buying community are the homeowners. I've got a message from each and every one of us. We don't care about your cranky cargo short observations about the simplicity of the layout in this game. We are actually too busy out in the world enjoying life, enjoying the sunshine, going on vacations, having intimate moments with people. We are enjoying other stuff. We're not here to master the difficulties of these games. We want to jump on a pinball machine and have 20 minutes of fun in which we know what the F is going on. Why is that so hard for you IFPA highly ranked chumps? Why can't you understand that? That Pinball was never meant to be a game that you would walk up to and need a Bible sized rule book to know what to do. So look, Pokemon is, in my honest opinion, a very simple, basic game. Now, will it get old over time? Maybe, but I'm going to tell you right now, not in this household, not in this family, okay? Because for the first time ever, I come upstairs and Brenda's playing. She now knows how to play. I could not in a million years start to explain to Brenda what the badges in Guns N' Roses do. I could not in a million years try to get Brenda to care and remember how to light extra ball in Guns N' Roses. Okay And so yeah in its simplicity this game is amazing in its simplicity Now I also am a podcaster that has been critiquing how much games have cost and how much is in these games for this much money And I will say this, when I look at Pokemon, do I see a $13,000 effort? And the answer right now is no. And mechanically, there will never be anything in this game that justifies the game costing this much. So when I read people say the game's a lot of fun, but it looks like a $7,000 game. I 100% agree with you. I don't think this thing is a $13,000 game, but I can't get one unless I spend at least $13,000. And that's just the reality. Now, I could wake up and I could complain and I can pound sand and not get a Pokemon that's making my family happy or I could get one, see the joy it's bringing my family and say, you know what? Sometimes in life you overpay for that kind of joy, for that kind of excitement. When I fly to Japan in September, I could sit in coach, which I'm not, or I could spend more money and sit in business class, which I'm going to do. Same when I go to Italy. Same when I buy Brenda a birthday gift for her 40th. I could spend this much or I could spend that much. Is it the responsible thing to spend that much? No. But I love her way more than I could ever spend. And so it's all about perspective. And I'm reading, you know, these people, they come into the owner's thread, right? They don't even own the game. They're doing it everywhere on Pinside. You should see it. It's not just like Pokemon. It's the Beetlejuice thread. There's a dude in there who doesn't have the game, who's just like railing on it left and right. Same thing in the Winchester thread. Same thing in the Dune thread. Like everywhere you go, people who own something have to hear it from people that don't have it. And yeah, it's kind of annoying. And yeah, Pinside once upon a time said they were actually going to moderate and they were actually going to like drain the swamp of all these losers. And so I just want to say to everybody out there, I don't give a pinball rat's butt if you think Pokemon sucks. I'm enjoying the game. I'm waking up and I love playing it. I love the way it looks. I love the way it shoots. My game is shooting perfect out of the box. I see these dudes like, oh man, when it's going around the orbit, it's other little hick. Who cares if it gets around the damn orbit and feeds the left flipper? Just play the damn game, baby. Play the game. And I will say this, even though it's a fan layout, which by the way, is the layout that got like 99% of people into pinball. It's the layout that most people enjoy. Even though it's a fan layout with a two flipper game and wider shots than most pinball machines, it's still not. I mean this. It's not like super duper easy. This is not like I'm having 45 minute ball times on this game. Now, the reason why is, you know, even though some shots are right up the middle, it's really far up the middle, that dead center shot. So I'm really enjoying the fact that I think this game has the perfect balance of easy to understand, but difficult to master. And there's so much more coming when it comes to this game. So that's just me on a week in which I've lost a little bit of my patience with these babies. Because again, as you're staring down the reality of life and how short time is and you hear from these people who all these years have adopted this attitude that they're entitled to this hobby. It's like they don't even want people to have fun playing pinball. And Stern puts out a game that everyone's having fun. And because these guys have wasted so many years of their lives staring down in dark rooms on sunny summer days so they could win a translator 40 bucks at the bar. I'm sorry, but there's a reason why the cool kids weren't playing pinball in the 90s. Let's be honest here for a minute. The cool kids were playing Street Fighter 2. They were playing like, you know, Daytona USA. They were playing Super Nintendo. They were playing Genesis. They were playing games in which I could kick your ass in the fighting game. I don't think there's any other way to say it. I would love to challenge every single top 100 IFPA pinball player in a game of Street Fighter 2, a game that more of the world has considered to be how you settle it in the right way. With a hand-to-hand combat Street Fighter game, rubbing elbows, putting quarters up on the bezel of the arcade machine. And if you were good with one quarter, you could have stayed on Street Fighter 2 all day long. If you were good at Adam's Family in 1990, what, like three or four? Nobody cared, bro. Nobody cared. There wasn't a line to get on Adam's Family ever, okay? I love you guys. The reason why I love you guys, because if you're listening to this show right now, you're one of us. You're not one of them. You're not spending your entire life trying to win a Translight on a Wednesday night till 11 p.m. You're not. You are more balanced. You are more normal. And that is why the Canada Club is the best. Thank you guys for being a member. Let's talk about some other stuff going on in pinball. A lot of strange noises happening in Pinball other than Kaneda There a weird noise coming from the shaker motor in Winchester Mystery House I think they make their own shaker motor And so are they going to come up with a solve Is it the ball bearings? It's always ball bearings. What will be the solve there? But there are owners where this is just driving them crazy. There is a weird monitor humming sound or some sort of high pitched frequency noise coming from certain monitors on Harry Potter. And what owners have found out, not every Harry Potter uses the same monitor. That's weird. That's going to be hard to diagnose. And you've got these guys trying to replace cables and wires and all these things. And when I turn on my Pokemon Spike 3, there's a little bit of a hissing sound right away. It goes away. I don't really care about it. I'm not going to like try to solve that little like fraction of a second hiss, man. My life has been incomplete since my Pokemon hisses upon startup. I mean, go into a bar filled with hot chicks and be like, ladies, ladies, I solved the high-pitched noise that happens for a fraction of a second when I turn on my Pokemon Pinball. Now, who's coming home with Canada, baby? Nobody cares about your Wednesday night Translite victory. I want to take those trans lights and smash it over your heads, baby, because we've got a whole new perspective. It's time we stop allowing these tournament losers to bully us around. You know what it is? They're just jealous because we don't care. You ever go to a pinball show? Who is having fun? Everyone who's not in the tournament room. I'm going to have a Kaneda tournament. I'm in. I'm telling you right now, it's going to be called the Kaneda Glass Off Classic, where I'm going to pay someone a dollar more than the winner of that tournament gets. And all they got to do is come up to a machine, 30 seconds, no glass on the machine, use your index finger and score as high as you can. And I'm going to pay you more than Crazy Levy could ever win, more than any of these guys. Steven Bowden could ever win. Put those little minor lights on their heads and I'm going to pay you more than they could ever win because we don't care. We're too busy. We're too busy living. These guys are so cranky. I love it. I love making fun of them because this is the thing. It's like without Kaneda on pin side, I used to troll these trolls. Nobody trolls these trolls anymore. They're like these dudes with like 30,000 posts. Like, yeah, man, I think Jaws 50th is ugly, man. Yeah, Jaws at all. Come on. Jaws LE is beautiful and Jaws 50th is beautiful. Like they're both beautiful. Jaws LE and Jaws 50th are both really nice in their own. You know, but like if I've got the elite man, that red armor is terrible. Nobody cares. Once you walk out of your house, the world doesn't give a damn. It doesn't give a damn. And that is the beauty of the Internet. It really has created all these pockets where like people overly care about the stupidest things and they're so hyper focused on it. And I'm telling you right now, the reason why Canada Club and Canada's Pinball Podcast is the only truly balanced show because no one else would say this. They can't talk like this. This hobby needs a little bit more of this common sense. I want to give a big shout out to Mr. Travis who made that amazing Pokemon tutorial video because until I watched his video on how to play Pokemon, I didn't really know what I was doing. You know what I'm saying? You ever read the rule card and after you read it, you're like, yeah, man, okay, cool, cool. I do that, that, that, that, that, that, and that. And then you start the game. You're like, what the hell do I do? I don't understand. You know, you don't remember any of it, but he walks you through it in a very, very great way. And then you get to see the gameplay because you kind of got to see the thing happening on the rule card to really, really like put it into your muscle memory, if you will. All right. What else is going on? We got these weird noises. What number Winchester are we at? Does anybody know? I think we're somewhere like in the 80s or 90s. I don't know. They're still not going to do what I said they should do, which is just every week, David, just let people know what number you're at. Why is that a mystery? Right. The irony. Everyone knows you're only making 525. So just tell us where you're at. Why is it a mystery? UConn Yeti. Right. I'm seeing this in the thread. UConn Yeti. You know, buy your Yukon Yeti in 2026 and get it in 2028. I don't care, man. I'm not mad. If you want to buy that game and you want to wait that long, more power to you. But you do know if you lock in now, there's going to be like 18 games that come out before you owe the balance on that game. And trust me, that $12,000 game, you're probably going to find one on the market for like eight by the time you have to pay 12. That's all I'm saying is just be patient. Wait and see is going to hold so true with UConn Yeti. What else is going on in Pinball? Shout out to Jason Knapp who wrote about Mountain Dew, who gave me a shout out for that Mountain Dew info. It's coming. It's a little commission game by the Mountain Dew company. They're not going to make many of them. It's not a disruptive thing. And I think it's neat, you know, just getting more people into pinball, having more of these brands make pinball machines. Isn't that what we're here for, people? Okay, like they're not holding a gun to your head to buy it. It's not like, oh, Stern sold out. They're making Mountain Dew. No, this is what they've always done. They've always done this. If a company wants a commission game, they will do it for you. It's that simple. All right Transformers I was hanging out with my friend who is a big big Transformer guy and he knows all about the Transformer art world He made Transformer comic books My friend like in it man He in it I just going to say I guess I should just hold my reservations until I see what Pat Lee does with this game The more I look at that art, though, with those really big legs and anime manga style Transformers, it's just not how I think G1 Transformer fans want to see the IP. But we're going to get it sometime, I think, released in May. So that is coming up. Now, speaking of May, I've been waiting way too long to do this, and it is officially going to happen now on May 2nd during the Saturday Morning Spectacular. I am going to finally, after all the talk, all the waiting, all the speculation, I am finally going to draw five names to give those five individuals, those five individuals, a chance to buy a Beetlejuice pinball machine from Spooky Pinball. We are going to do the drawing at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 2nd. So what that means is this. If you would like to enter the Canada Club chance to get a fully loaded Beetlejuice machine at MSRP, The games number 501, 502, 503, 504, and I think 505, we have five total games, are up. Those are the numbers that they have allocated to Canada. There is going to be no over sticker. There's going to be no shenanigans. If you would like to be in the drawing, I implore you, here's how it's going to work. They're going to ship these machines to the winners. There will not be any ability to transfer your spot. So do not throw your name into the hat if you want to scalp this machine. You're not going to be able to sell your spot and not take delivery. If you sincerely would like a chance at getting one of these Beetlejuice games, email me, kinadipinball at gmail.com, subject head, Beetlejuice drawing, okay, as the subject head. I'm not going to throw it out if you just write Beetlejuice, but please, so I know, I will collect names over the next two weeks. So what is that? By April 24th, we are going to do a cutoff. Gives me some time to print out all the names. Also, this is important. I'm not sure I'm going to call you or not, but also include in your submission, include your address and your phone number because I'm giving the winners to Spooky. I'm giving all of your information to Spooky when we pick the winners. All of your information will remain private with me, so don't worry about that. I might go on Zillow to see how rich you are. Other than that, let's rock, baby. It's time. They are around game number 200 and something. And so I think these games are going to actually land in people's homes sometime in July. So let's get it done. I want to make sure we don't miss our own deadline. Everybody look, thank you so much for the support. It's been a rough week. Thank you in advance for all the well wishes I know I'm going to get from so many of you. And I just implore you again, wake up in a good mood. If a game is making you happy, don't care what anybody says about it. Don't even care what I say about it. Enjoy the game. Life is so short. There are too many people wasting too much time on the internet complaining about everything. And when you start complaining about what is making other people happy, look, and maybe I've done that in the past and even I can reflect that that is stupid. Now, look, I will complain about a game. I will complain about lackluster effort. I will complain about ugly artwork. I will. I'm not going to become some softy, but if people are in an owner's thread, I'm not going to march in there and crap on their enjoyment. That's lame. It's like running into a restaurant and being like, the food here sucks. Then don't eat there. You don't have to go in and be a jerk. Everybody, I love you. Thank you for the support, and I know that you guys have the balance, and we have great balance, man. And we need guys like Bond that hate everything mixed with guys like Chris L that thinks Winchester is the greatest shooting game of all time. We all know it's not, but I'm happy he feels that way. We need Fizzy who's really nervous about getting Goonies, but he shouldn't be nervous because he knows Kaneda. We need all these guys. We need Frank D'Python Anghelo who drops off my pinball machine with orchid flowers for Brenda, a Pokemon watch for Killian, and stuffed animals and Pokemon cards for the kids. You talk about customer service. He's not just slapping a cheap Pokemon sticker on a box. He's showing up and he's a member of the family. That is why Automated is amazing. My friends at Automated, my friends at Cointaker, I love these people. And if you're going up to Pintastic this weekend, say hi to Gabe for me. I wanted to go, but after everything that happened this week, I just can't make the trek. Brenda's not feeling great. I want to be close to family this weekend for obvious reasons. Have a very, very happy Friday and let's go on a mission in 2026 to not win Trans Lights on Wednesday nights or second place gets 40 bucks. I'll pay you $41 not to waste your life like that. Kaneda out.
