Now who's responsi- I say who's responsible for this unwarranted attack on my person? I say, I say, I say, pay attention now, boy. This is, of course, Foghorn Leghorn presents the Pinball Junk Drawer. You all asked for it. I say, I say, you all asked for it now. You're gonna get it. Boy, oh boy, are you gonna get it. Go, I say, go away, boy, you bother me. Wherein lies the rub, so does everyone else. I'm talking about a horse wanting attack from Mars. I digress. This is, of course, what is this, Saki-Bama-Go-Go? No, what is this, Indie Circuit? No. Wait, what is this, Slow-Bo-Bo-Bo-Go-Go? It's the Pinball Junk Drawer. Oh, yes, you're right. I am Loghorn Faghorn, and this is, of course, the Pinball Junk Drawer. I was getting confused because I do 19 shows a week. I digress. Who is with me? My lovely co-host, Mrs. Leghorn, craft beer, Sally. Is that right? Do I got that right? That is correct. And her catchphrase, take a drink every time her catchphrase comes up. That is correct. I'll see you in three minutes when you're in the hospital. No, I digress. So, this is a special show. Wow. Why is it special, Sally? Because I'm getting ready to be in a pinball tournament. wow and we I was sitting toiling away I'm a cube monkey so I sit there and have a lot of time to think while I'm going through motions of cube monkey-ness and I was like I have a astounding idea wow are you astounded no not yet I haven't told you yet what we're gonna do is we're recording the first half of the show and uh craft brew Sally is gonna talk all about uh you know uh her like what she's worried about, what she's excited about, what's she thinking, what's going through her head. Then we're going to stop the recording and I'm going to save the show. Then, blam town! Right after, and she gets back from her first tournament ever, Reflections of a Tournament. That's going to be the bookends of the show. Wow, what a concept, huh? Are you excited about that? Yes. That is correct Take another shot everyone You're now dead Congratulations So How long have you been signed up for this? When did you sign up for this? What is this? What are we talking about? Probably about a month Maybe more Alright What is it? What are you I'm doing the Ladies Flip Wisconsin Ladies Flip Wisconsin, who is a fellow tribe member, I might add. That is correct. That is correct. Ding. Wait. Oh, where's my bell? And I moved my bell, and I hit the other thing that wasn't where my bell was. Did John Youssi that? I keep a bell here, but then I have a candle holder, so I literally hit the candle. I was like. Every time you say that is correct, I think I'm going to do that. That's Pavlov's dog training people to take another drink. I digress. We're not doing that anymore. so oh and i am mistaken it is ladies flip wisconsin what did you say before women's ladies i can't keep up with politically correctness so whatever you're saying is i'm going with i'm sorry i just guess we just avoided that whole conundrum right there i digress that is correct see i say things then i immediately contradict myself that's the joy of the pinball junk drawer. So, now you've never been in a pinball tournament before, right? That is correct. At this point, I'm just setting them up. I've been with you at a pinball tournament, but I've never participated. Yeah, yeah. I did, how many have I done? Three? Two? Three? Four? Six? Nine? One? I think it was three. So, the first one... Niner. I hear a niner in there. The first one was literally just, meh, I like pinball. Let's go do that. And we showed up. We fell off the turnip truck, as it were. And that was the funniest one. But I'll reflect on that first one where we did together. Well, I did, but you were with me after you talked about yours. So what made you decide to do this? I've never done one before. I thought it would be fun. So you used to compete in? I used to play pool. Yeah, you did a lot. I started that with you and then said, I don't like this. Yeah. I don't like carrying. You're like, why don't you come with me? And I was like, okay, I'll come with you. And then I got roped into playing. Yep. And I really enjoyed it. Yeah, you stayed a lot of years. I did. You're actually really good at pool. I decided I don't care that much about pool. And you want to see people care about pool. Join a pool league. I'm assuming it's the same with everything. If you join a dart league, they probably really care about darts. Or even a pinball league. Then you really care about pinball. See, this is the stumbling block in my life because generally speaking, I don't really much care about much, including this sentence. Look, I was saying a sentence and I stopped caring about the end of it by the time I finished my sentence. So that's why I trailed off right there. But so now you're super hyper competitive. You're not going to start swinging on people, right? You're not going to. I wouldn't say I'm super hyper competitive. but she's going to compete with me to make sure that I don't say that again. I kid. You are pretty competitive, but what's your, like, what are you thinking about this? What are your emotions or your thoughts? I'm kind of nervous about it. Cause I've like we've said before, I've never done it. So I don't know what to expect. I've been with you at a tournament, but I've never done the tournament. So I, one thing I will, they're always wacky. I think every tournament is like different than the other one. And I'm not quick. I'm not that quick on the upstart. So like, I need to be only in the same kind of tournament over and over again. Like if somebody says well this is what we gonna do with this one It all wacky I be like I got to tap out I don even understand what you talking about Like I just go up and play until someone says well your ball stopped Now leave And I do What kind of tournament is the Ladies Flip Wisconsin Did I say that right? Ladies Flip Wisconsin. Nice. Yes. Mind like a steel trap, this one. I'm referring to me. I was looking in a mirror. I put a mirror right behind my microphone, so I know I'm always talking to myself. So go ahead. I don't have – you looked. I don't have a mirror there. Do you think I really put a mirror? Literally, Scrap Roussel, you literally kind of stretched your neck around like, where is this mirror he's talking about? I'm complete nonsense. Honestly, everything is a casserole of nonsense in my world. That is correct. Don't read too deeply, man. Go ahead. So what are you thinking about it? What is it? It's – in the information that I was given, it says group match play. What does that mean? I really don't know. I will find out in a couple days. And then you'll be back to tell us all about it. I will. So you are nervous. I'm nervous. It's very normally nervous, but I wouldn't. One thing that I think helped with that one, we were talking about that first one. This was in Florida, and it was at the Pinball Asylum, which was just a wonderful place. It is a wonderful place. I mean, I don't drive there anymore because it would be 14 hours. But, you know, everyone was very welcoming. And it wasn't – I'm sure there were some people that were very competitive, but I didn't care. You know, and that would be my advice, if anything, is just to go have fun. I'm sure you'll have a lot of fun. How many – does it say how many people there are in the competition? I think – I don't know for sure, but I think it was limited to, like, 15 or so. Gotcha. Nice. All right. So you're going to take a lit pipe and you're going to be like Nancy Kerrigan if anyone gets too close to you. Cracking people in their kneecaps. I don't think he'll invite you back to a second one. Probably not. He might win, though. Yeah. It's just by proxy. The only last one standing, right? Maybe. That's a good strategy. Yep. Just stick with me. I'm full of good strategies. That's why I've gotten so far in life. All kidding aside. Now, we know the person running is Rachel. Yes. So that's good. You're excited about going, though, aren't you? I am excited. Yeah. I was a little less excited when I saw the game list. What were you hoping for? Like Beatles? Yeah. And Woe Nelly. Woe Nelly. And Dr. Dooms. Yeah. You know. I've heard that's a big mistake. If you have the game, other than knowing some of the tricks to being better scoring, you'll have to walk up to it like it's a complete... That's what Rachel even said. If you think you walk up knowing how it's going to play, you're going to lose. Yeah. Because every machine plays differently. Ours are set up pretty loose, so I feel good about life. But for tournaments, they usually set them pretty tight. Yeah. So very exciting. Now the first one, I think one of the funniest things when I think about the first one we went to is this was one of those where you paid an entrance, and you just played and played and played, and then you gave them your best score. So you could literally play one game 100,000 times during that day, and they just took your highest score, and then that's how you qualified towards the end. I made it to finals that first time. But I was like a lunatic back then. I was playing a game and then as soon as I would lose my game, I'd run and play some games in the back rooms because they had other free games that were, I think, for the families or something. But I just couldn't. All I did was play pinball like literally every moment of every day. It was insane. Or every moment of that whole thing. So I think they were like, what's wrong with this guy? Because they remembered me the second time I went down. I still did that. I couldn't play enough pinball that day. And it was funny. That's where we first met Dan Spooler, who runs projectpinball.org. Hey, and nice segue. Make sure you go to projectpinball.org because Dan, right now they have three different raffles going on. So you can buy these raffle tickets, and it goes to a good cause, and you might win. Wow. You might win a Godzilla. Yeah, no kidding. Or a different Godzilla. Or an Oktoberfest. so make sure you time is running out so make sure you go there they limit them to 200 entries so that way I think they like double their money but of course one machine one goes for the machine and then one is goes right into the charity it's a good thing Dan does a great deal for the world he's really doing a good thing so look him up online you'll be glad you did projectpinball.org right nice so I guess anything else before we sign off? I don't know. I'm going to talk more about the tournament play and tournaments and stuff like that. I'm probably going to just do a deep dive show. I do think it changes how you look at pinball. Some good, some bad, but that's everything. That's not for this show. This is just going to be for a... How do you hope you do? Of course you hope you win. Win? I mean win first. Win? Yes. Yeah, she's not competitive at all, folks. No. I mean, that is correct. I'll just say what my dad used to tell me. Well, wish in one hand and shit in the other and see which builds up fastest. That's the kind of sage information I grew up with. That's why I have such a wonderful outlook on life. It's very grounded. I'm just hoping to not be last. That's a good goal. Yeah, you know. You know, I think you'll do fine. I mean, I'm hopeful that you're like upper third. That would be a realistic thing. But you might do really good. You never know. You never know. Yes. Well, I think we've gone on long enough. Everyone's probably going to sleep. Sorry. But we'll be back. Now what we're going to do is I'm going to put in a funny little clip or something like that. And then the next half of this show is going to be after. Like through time travel we going to then see how the future Oh the future Zoltan the cat here She doesn care about this at all She just looking around like hey what going on in here So we will be back for the second half of the show to find out what happened at said future event. The future happens now. And we're back. amazingly traveled through time. So, having competed in your first pinball tournament, Craft Brew Sally is going to expound upon her reflections and thoughts and how she did and all that stuff. Take it away. Now, first off, did you get first place or last place? I did not get first place or best place. Ah, wow. Okay, so where did you end up out of however many? There were 19 ladies there, and I was 11th. All right. That's good. Good for your first one, right? Yeah. All right. It was a lot of fun. You had fun? I did. There was a lot of nice ladies there, and there were a lot of machines. I think they had 21 machines. I'm jealous. Yeah, I was a little, too. That's awesome. So you played, how many different machines did you play of those 21? I've slayed 11 different machines. Oh, matched your number. Yes. So, okay, great. But there were 13 rounds. So I played two machines twice. Which two machines? Batman 66 and Revenge, no. Sorry, not Revenge. Attack from Mars. Attack from Mars. The greatest machine of all time to me. So, Batman 66, did everyone play one of the modes? like I've always heard like in competition like you have to figure out which one the ways to score the most so like everyone would play the same thing on Batman 66 or so I only saw one person get to pick like one of the modes otherwise I think you just played it yeah interesting so it may have just been that none of us got to pick one of the modes. And I could be completely wrong. You had a monster score on Attack from Mars though. I did. I had over 2 billion. That's insane. That's better than I... I love that game and I've never scored that high. That's something. I'm like wowzers. And I have no idea how. That's the best kind of pinball. You're like, how'd you do that? Shrug. Just shrug and have another sip of beer. Just, you know, flippers. Yeah. So that's awesome. Who won overall? um that was tara all right it was actually a three-way tie for first wow and a three-way tie for last huh okay yes so that's interesting that keeps it interesting so i think it was tara rachel and becky nice rachel representing the tribe and number two very awesome yes so would you do this again? Definitely. So you had a lot of fun doing it? I would definitely do it again. Yeah, that's cool. Now, was anyone there like super competitive or super serious player? You know, like sometimes people are real serious and sometimes it's just like, hey, we're just having fun. Everyone's just, do your best, but you know. I think everybody was mostly just there for having fun. Okay. Yeah. Like, because sometimes people are like super crazy competitive, like, oh, don't talk to them or don't walk behind them. They can sense your aura when they're And you're thinking, you're like, what are you talking about? I'm leaving here. That's what I think I'm talking about. I feel like we saw somebody like that at that tournament that you were in. Yes, we did. Like, don't even, like, breathe in this area. Because they're so competitive. Yeah. But not at this one. Good. Well, that's good. And that makes a big difference. Yeah. You know, it's just more like a, I mean, you want, of course you want to win, you want to do good, but it's just like, eh, you know, more of a friendlier gathering. Yes. Cool. It was like a, you know, hanging out with your friends kind of afternoon. That's nice. Yeah, it was. So you said you would do another one. Do you think you'd still be nervous for the second one? Probably. Yeah. I think it's just, you know, the anticipation of what you're going to do, how you're going to do. Yeah. And some of the machines, because some of those machines I had never played before. Yeah. Like a lot of them. That'll be like always. Yeah. Like, when I go to those expos, I literally just try and play every machine. It's impossible to, especially when the busy days start hitting. But that's like, I mean, when we were running around Freeplay Florida or, like, whenever I get into one of those places, I play every machine I can because you're probably never going to see them again. And it's, like, that one, remember that big, dumbass Hercules game, that gigantic one that was in that one? That's, most people have never seen that or played it. It's a clunky piece of junk. Don't get me wrong. but I play that don't get excited if John Youssi it somewhere I play that every time though I always play it like two or three times because it's different it was just something different and you know because it's that ball's like the size of a it's a cue ball oh is it it's a cue ball yeah I thought it was more the size of a baseball but yeah because then I remember one went up for sales I mean somebody paid like twelve grand I was like you're nuts yeah it's the worst well not the worst machine but like you just got twelve hundred dollars worth of bricks You just sat in there like in a gigantic. And a round stone. Yeah. I just hopped around stone and watch it roll down the bricks. You'd be like, well, there's Hercules. There's Hercules. Yeah. Good job, Atari. So that was good. You had a lot of fun. Yes. 11th, you came home with a little baby Yoda bowl. Yes. Limited edition baby Yoda Pyrex bowl. Limited edition. Yes. Anytime you read limited edition or collectible, throw it in the garbage because it's not limited or collectible. If they telling you something is it not Well it nice and I so excited to have it Yeah I not doubting that The owner of said Pyrex limited edition Yoda bowl will definitely covet said bowl But I'm pretty sure you could still find them maybe on the open market. Well, that's awesome. So there you have it. Through the power of time warpage. No, not time warpage. Our time travel. We used a time travel machine. This is the same night as when we started. Wink. I wish the time travel machine would have made Willy Wonka better. You know, we're outliers on that whole argument. I know. Most people love it, and I do not. And I don't think you do either. I do not. I mean, that is correct. Exactly. And that's sad. Not sad. It's just the reality of it. There's a lot of games out there that people are just madly in love with, And I'm just like, what are you talking about? I don't get it. I don't. But it's okay. And I love games where people are like, that's hot garbage. I'm like, well, whatever. It's no big deal. That's awesome. And I heard it was, along with the awesome machines, there was also a lot of interesting collectibles and stuff all around, right? Yes. The tournament was at an arcade of someone that Rachel knows. Okay. And their house was really cool. Yeah. They had all kinds of Disney stuff, which I, of course, love. You love Disney and you have Harry Potter books, which you have 100,000 of them from all different countries around the world. I do. I was like, did you tell her about that? You're like, no. I'm like, what the heck? Okay, whatever. There's no time to talk in between rounds. You're like, hey, man, I was too busy trying to put sleeping powders in everyone's drinks. I didn't have time for that. I had to climb the ladder and get to 11th. Everyone's like, I feel drowsier than normal. Don't you? You shouldn't order that. No, I'm fine. Don't touch my water, my precious. Yeah, that's cool. There you have it, folks. So I guess you would say big thumbs up and you would recommend people try it out, even if they don't necessarily like that. Correct. That's cool. Why not? Yes. And I never – it's not something I seek out. But, you know, I would play in a tournament again. I don't, you know, I'm like, nah. You know, like when we're at an expo or something like that and there's tournaments going on, I would rather just run around and play machines and kick around. I don't know. But, you know, I would. For the amount of time that you play when we go to an expo, you could just do a tournament. Because you go from start to finish. Yeah, that's pretty funny. And don't stop playing. I hit a wall I think it was like we had 13 rounds I think it was between like 10, 11 and I was like hmm I'm like okay I'm done you're like Energizer Bunny is kind of laying on your side I don't know keep on going but my last two machines I got first place in my group of four I think it's natural everyone kind of burns not burns out but like it's really difficult to like just maintain that level yeah like if you're really concentrating because that's tiring yeah you're like oh geez it was like seven hours of yeah non-stop yeah pinball action yes that's wonderful yeah that's always fun i you know i do like we joke there was a what was that place disney quest disney quest that comes up a lot because like there was more than once I went there I got there when it opened at 11 a.m and Sally was look at she would go to downtown Disney and come back and I'd still be playing then she'd go and eat and come back I'd still be playing and she was literally pulling me out of there at 1 a.m so I played for like 20 no 14 hours yeah like non-stop I wouldn't even stop I just kept playing and playing I was like ah it was the greatest thing ever and you know like sometimes you'd sit down but like at a cocktail table. Rarely. Yeah. But it was like one of those things where you're just like, man, when I get in that kind of environment, I just go nuts. I love it so much. You know. But that's cool. So big thumbs up. If you haven't enjoyed the Ladies Wisconsin. Ladies Flip Wisconsin. Ladies Flip Wisconsin. I'll never get it. I was going to say I'll get it eventually, but I'll never get it. It's okay. It's all right. Put it down and put it over there. I'll misread it. I'll put it in your mirror. Yes. Let me fog up my mirror. It's written in magic. So if you haven't tried it, reach out and look it up. I'm sure there's a Facebook group or something. Yes, there is. So reach out and go to the next one. You'll probably have fun. I'm going to actually go out and try and get fitted for a nice gown and a wig and some lipstick. And I'm going to pretend I'm a woman and I'll be competing at the next Ladies Flip Wisconsin as well. and I'll see if I can oh you fresh I'm going to go play and on that note would you have anything else before we go no me either we're going to end on the high note of that alright thanks for listening everyone this has been pinball junk drawer special edition 11 show 11 there's 11 of these and I finished 11th It's magic.
