TL;DR

WAP #24: Patreon growth, X-Men/John Wick code complaints, ABBA failure, Predator rumors, design philosophy critique.

Summary

We Are Pinball hosts Genghis and Don discuss community Patreon growth, recent code updates for X-Men and John Wick, disappointment with ABBA's poor market reception, speculation about Pinball Brothers' next title (Predator rumored), and criticism of incomplete game design on Stern releases. Genghis proposes a cinematic universe approach for Indiana Jones and Star Wars multi-game series with Keith Elwin and Jack Danger as dedicated designers.

Key Claims

  • X-Men received a new .9 code update with minor refinements to Juggernaut mode, adding more gameplay nuance to an overly easy encounter

high confidence · Genghis played the code at District 1 arcade and described specific changes: Juggernaut helmet removal mechanic added, making the mode harder than the original four-red-shots completion

  • John Wick has stalled at 500-600 plays with no new code updates, contracts feature removed, and leveling system that provides no gameplay benefit

high confidence · Genghis and Don extensively discuss John Wick's code stagnation, comparing it unfavorably to Dungeons & Dragons' robust feature set

  • ABBA has received zero location interest from Swedish distributor despite European positioning

high confidence · Genghis (representing Jengis distributor) states explicitly: 'We have had exactly zero interest. Like zero, man.' Also mentions American Pinball contacted them asking why they weren't stocking ABBA

  • Pinball Brothers is now essentially a one-man operation with the remaining founder and his son managing the web shop

medium confidence · Genghis states: 'Pinball Brothers is just one guy now. It's Pinball Brother... He's a sweet guy. His son is controlling their web shop now.'

  • Rumors indicate Pinball Brothers' next game will be Predator-themed

medium confidence · Genghis: 'But, yeah, the rumors are saying that the Pinball Brothers are making Predator.' No official confirmation provided

  • Alien by Pinball Brothers generated 30,000 views in first day of unboxing video, significantly outperforming typical pinball content (800-3,000 views)

high confidence · Genghis describes unboxing video: 'This one got like 30,000 first day. It was crazy. So after some time, my brother hit this company up and said, look what Genghis has done through his YouTube channel.'

  • Keith Elwin maintains creative direction oversight throughout entire game code development, unlike other designers who hand off after layout design

medium confidence · Genghis poses question about Keith's involvement: 'Is that the reason that his games are so cool at the release day... Is that the reason?' No definitive confirmation provided

Yeah. Right? Yeah. Are we going to fly? Are we going to drive? How long is it? I'm flying, man. Dude, we're in a big country, dude, like Australia, like they said. You want to fly high? I got to go down to Houston, man. I'm in Wisconsin. I got to cross Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee, fucking like Alabama. Wait, no, I'm going off track. Anyway, I just got to fly down to the Gulf of America, to Houston, where we can get our twip on. Tonight there's a launch party somewhere in Houston for Dungeons & Dragons. I'm going to swing in and play that. And then tomorrow, Barrels of Fun and then the Twippies in the evening. It will be simulcast, I think nationwide. I think from Fox News to your living room it's going to be coming. So be sure to watch that. Yeah, I hope everybody in this hubby is going to watch the Twippy Awards. We are looking really, really forward to it. So a little shout-out from here. Check out the Troopies tomorrow. Do you know what time? I don't know. It's like 6 or 7 in the evening Central Time, U.S. I'm sure Colin will put out something today on Kineticis, so be sure to check that, like, subscribe, whatever. But, yeah, it's going to be fun. It's going to be fun. I'm excited, man. I am so happy they're doing this, Colin and the team. So thank you for everybody over here, over there, working their butts off. And we have $5 level, $50 level, and $100 level. Yeah. All levels are beautiful. You will get some different stuff. That was due to popular demand, too. Like, we didn't start out with that. we're just people like people like dude i want more benefits i want i want more participation i want to be part of the crew we're like hell yeah get your face in this mess man and we made it happen we got told you're selling yourself too cheap i mean we need some yeah now this is true i am i am cheap so yeah i think i mean all these uh 50 or 100 supporters they're getting these crazy cool nicknames and i'm thinking the latest guy that we're anthony what are we gonna do with it yeah he was our five dollar supporter and he's anthony is very active in our uh patron uh talk also he's a very active guy very positive guy love this guy all of the time i think his name should be antonio banderas what do you think anthony Antonio Banderas. I love it, dude. The Banderas. Antonio, man. Yeah, man. He's Spanish, too, man. So in the Spanish-themed episode of WAP that we're doing. Oh, so cool, man. Hell yeah. So I'm down, man. Anthony, welcome to the fold, sir. He upped to, yeah, 50 bucks a month. So he will be thanked every month. Not every month. He wants to show every week. But, yeah, every time we make another show, we will thank Anthony. So thank you for upping your Patreon support, Anthony. We're so, so thankful. You got a spot on the couch, buddy. Absolutely. Yeah, and we hope that, now we haven't talked this with him, but we hope he will join the show also. Yeah. At least for like 10 minutes so we can ask him, who's your daddy and what does he do? I want the Anthony minute, man. Record it. Send it to me. Describe it on a Joshua Clay tablet in cuneiform. I don't care how you get it to me. Yeah. But let's incorporate everybody here. Let's run the... But it's optional. Remember that. It's optional. If they want, they're welcome, right? Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. So that's so cool. So thank you, Anthony. It's so beautiful. Other than that, we're getting new supporters also, Donnie. So a new supporter with the username Tone just got another supporter. Welcome, Tone. Welcome to the team. Frequency of forums and discords. Welcome, dude. Big team. the women's what we'll call them once he upgrades the big t yeah but he's our new supporter also so welcome to the team buddy it's joy the numerous bonus content we probably have as much bonus show stuff as we do just the regular show stuff almost and our bonus shows are just very very long shows and not even that so Donnie we are doing this positive and happy we love everything but just as an example this last show we made three days ago show number 23 I just love it because here you're Donnie but on Patreon shows you're Donnie 2.0 the first minute you jump over to Patreon you said eat a dick does that sound like something i would say i mean i i i love that aspect of you also so but people that are enjoying our patreon shows they i mean the feedback is amazing it's so positive i love it so yeah it is what it is man we also have to thank the the team man we have got jeremy ford yes dude what a solid guy helping out at Pinball at the Beach. What a cool gentleman, dude. I wish I had more time to spend with him there. We love Jeremy. We also have got Enzo Ferrari. If you ever want to share a hot tub with a guy that slings a good pizza, man, Enzo's your dude. Heck yeah. I think he texted me this morning. He was playing Celts somewhere, him and Ryan in Australia. What the heck? Have you played Celts from Haggis Pinball? I have never seen a Celts in real life. Well, count yourself lucky. It's the ugliest freaking game. That art is atrocious. And I've seen some bad pinball art, but Kelts is just like bad, not even good. Didn't they produce like 200 of them or something? Throw it in the trash. They were liking it. I mean, the gameplay is kind of uniquely, and it doesn't play bad. It's not a bad build, actually, all things to consider. I never owned one, but, I mean, I played it, and it's fine. I played it twice. I played two Kelts, man. Who can say that? Where did you play it? I played it next level in a secret back room, and then I also played at Dr. John's place in Australia. So, yeah, two hemispheres I've played Celts, man. What the heck? What a freaking game. I'm not envying you in any way. I'm not saying it's Monopoly bad, but it's not great. Something has happened to me. I have changed a bit here in my older days. every time a new pinball machine comes out i don't know why but i am very theme focused i don't it's just something new and usually i don't care about theme but now the theme needs to hit me when i saw princess bride i was like what's that i don't care oh when i saw um what's the game from bears of labyrinth yeah labyrinth yeah i don't know what it is so i really don't care the theme needs to hit me have you had that kind of feeling in you or are you like oh pinball i love pinball like okay i love pinball and the 90s were the 90s right when you could get away with like fishtails yes i want to go play that right mousing around remember that oh yeah but like if you release that now it'd be like what the hell is this crap i want gremlins mother grabber i want predator i want something so maybe maybe it's we've been spoiled now by the theme integration and it's like oh this can be so much better right but when you when you pick theme it's conveying a lot of the information to the player automatically because because they already know it right when you come out with something like road trip like you've got to then teach the player everything about like what is this why should i care why is there a raccoon trash panda on here you know you got all but when when you when you come out with gremlins which i hope somebody does it's like oh i already know this man so get in here where's the shots where's gizmo how do I dump them in water, how do I feed them after midnight? You already know. You're engaged, man. And when it comes to FOMO at release, boom. If they have audio that you know from a specific theme, then you will get audio emotional feelings also. Look how a good theme can take a garbage game like X-Men and get people to buy it and then feel bad about it. I'm just kidding, X-Men. Oh, my goodness. You just came out with a new code. Have you tried? Yesterday, I went and played the new code. Real quick, let me thank Jeremy Ford. No, not Jeremy Ford. Josh Cox, the Velvet Steve. Wait, wait. That's our goat, man. I don't want to get too far into this and think he forgot about us. That was a cheap thank you. He is our executive producer. When we thank Mr. Cox, it's the proper way. Okay, wait, wait, wait. My dear friend, when are you going to enter our show? Come on, man. We're writing so much to each other. Tell you what, right now he is having his package of his first mod sent to him and a couple of T-shirts. So he's going to be well resplendent in the WAP wear here pretty soon. And, you know, I love when we talk to him that he says that our show really inspires him and, you know, makes him fall in love with pinball and all this positive stuff. And I think you inspired him a bit to buy the Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Oh, OK. He's getting the mod for that game. Yeah. Yeah, I'll take credit for that. A couple of days ago, he uploaded a screenshot picture there that he also ordered Evil Dead now. That's a smart man. That is a smart man. It's so awesome. Congratulations, man. Yeah, it's been an Evil Dead week for me. We love you, Steve. Josh Cox, thank you for the highest level support, buddy. We love you here. We want to have you in here also. Yeah, plenty of room on our couch, too, if others want to join in. Yeah, yeah. Absolutely, man. Absolutely. X-Men code. X-Men code. I went yesterday, District 1, I played the .9 code. We have been waiting for this code. We have been waiting. People are angry. People are thinking, should I sell this game? Should I keep it? New code came out. This is important. Let me hear. Yeah, so there's a couple extra things to do here. What do you mean? That's it. No. Okay, so the modes have been adjust it a little bit. This is very much not like a giant step in code. It's just a little bit more refinement, a little more padding. When you fought Deadpool, no, Juggernaut, right? Juggernaut. The easiest mode in the game. You pick Juggernaut, there's four red shots and you're done. You can finish that and qualify the next mode before the animation is even done playing. It's so easy. So now, what they did is they did some nuance to it. So you hit a couple of shots and then you got to remove his helmet. And so everything goes away except for the X-Mansion shot. You have to hit that, knock his helmet off, then you can go back and complete the mode. So it's like there's a little bit more gameplay to it than just hit four of these red shots and you're done. So thankful for that. Now, I don't have this at home where I can put 100 games through this new code. I played it like three or four times. So, you know, I got to the future once, didn't notice much different. But I did notice here and there a couple of newish callouts, a couple of newish animations. So there's something, though. So thank you for giving us something, man. I feel like an orphan begging for scraps and crumbs here, buddy. But Wason combed some stuff out of his beard and gave us some crumbs, so I appreciate that. There may be some more today from Wason because Enzo is interviewing him right now or later today, and that will be up on the Gonzo's Pinball Flipperama YouTube channel. Shout out. And I sent him some questions. He's like, what should I ask this guy? And I'm like, ask him what would you have to say to people with X-Men that are looking to dump this damn game right now. Like, what's the vision? You don't have to give me everything, but, like, where is this game going to end up so people feel okay keeping it and letting the code mature? And how long time will it take? Because shots on layout is great on that game, so it's set about the second-hand market right now with the prices of X-Men. Just like Indigo Montoya from The Princess Bride. I hate waiting. It's another Spanish connection. You haven't seen the film. Come on, man. No. I hate waiting. Remember at the top of the cliffs of insanity? We've got to dump some decongestants into Jenga's here. Can you edit all the coughing I don have time to be sick No Do you remember Predator when Mac is bleeding Hey man you bleeding I don have time to be sick No this is Do you remember Predator When Mac is bleeding Hey man you bleeding I don have time to bleed I've never seen Predator, sir. I don't know. I'm joking. I'm joking, man. Come on. I'm just putting off everything. I'd have to turn in my man card if I never saw Predator. I don't have time to bleed. That's one of my favorite, favorite lines, and it's not even Arnold saying it, man. I love it. We know you love Predator, and you can't wait until they reskin ABBA as Predator from Pinball Brothers. Oh, no. Because you already have the chopper. You already have the chopper. So reskin, put that out. There you go. Lock the balls in the chopper. Yeah, two balls. Oh, my God. ABBA. ABBA. Have you played that yet? No. Now, this is supposed to be the game that was made because Sweden demanded it. And Sweden is across the water from you, right? So, you know, so like these... Just a bridge, 30 minutes from me. Every Lutefisk shop over there has to have like an ABBA machine in the lobby, right? I imagine like it's been selling like pickled herring over there. No? Not so much? We are distros for Pimble Brothers. And we have, you know, we have Alien standard. I have unboxed Alien Limited Version, it's called. We have that on display so people can come and try. We also have the Queen game unboxed that also you can play. I am not interested in ABBA, and I talked to my bro, and he's not interested either, and we actually got contacted by American Pinball. No, not American Pinball Brothers. Sorry. I'm sick. I haven't slept for three days. David Fix has popped up. They're like, aren't you going to have our game on location? I'm like, heck no. Are you going to send me one? So what you're saying is you can't even keep it in stock because it's so in demand. Let me see. Usually when a new game comes out, people are riding. Before we get it on stock, they'd see these trailer videos, whatever. They're interested. We have had exactly zero interest. Like zero, man. Yeah. Yeah. Poor ABBA, Dancing Queen. Who would have forecasted that? Who would have possibly thought that ABBA would come out and not be a smash hit, except for absolutely everybody? What the hell, man? People in Sweden, it was very popular back in the 70s, I think. I remember my mom had these LPs, and she listened to those ABBA songs. You know what? So was cocaine and roller skates, but times change, man. Bill Cosby was popular at one point. R. Kelly was popular at one point. Oh, yeah, at times. So, yeah, not the biggest interest. But the rumors, just like you're saying, the rumors are saying that the Pinball Brothers are making Predator. Speaking of Bill Cosby. Sorry, I'm derailing this whole thing. I have a hard time breathing, man. Pudding pop. So, like, when ABBA was announced, like, myself and everybody else was like, what the flip? Why would you do ABBA? And then what we were hearing was, well, they're popular in Europe. Pinball Brothers is a European company. But I was like, fuck, I know people in Europe, and I've asked them, and they're like, no, we don't want ABBA either. No, no, absolutely not, man, absolutely not. But, yeah, I just hope they soon jump to the next game because Pinball Brothers is just one guy now. It's Pinball Brother. Oh, pinball orphan. Yeah. He's a sweet guy. I have known him for many years. I actually sold some pinball machines to him. He's a sweet guy. His son is a sweet guy. His son is controlling their web shop now. Who's making their decisions? Is it him? It must be the dad. It must be the last, last brother in the house. All right. And I need to reach out to him. I'm going to say if he's making... A message to the lone pinball brother. for $100 a month at our executive producer level, we will feed you theme ideas and we will help you have a creative, successful machine. Jenga's can't wait to not be able to keep in stock because it's going to be flying off the shelves, man. And if you don't talk to Jenga's before you commit to a Predator layout, what is wrong with you? I will demolish that company. They need to show... My brother actually... You know what? I unboxed the first Alien pinball machine, and I made a very, very fast video. I had no time. My bro called me and he said, you need to film this. I was like, I don't have time. I need to go to work. Come on, man. Three times, four times. Okay, I'm coming out there. So we made a fast video, uploaded, and the first day it got like 30,000 views. Nice. And in the pinball video content creating stuff, we get 800 views or 2,000 views. It's down there and 3,000 views. That's a lot of views. This one got like 30,000 first day. It was crazy. So after some time, my brother hit this company up and said, look what Cengiz has done through his YouTube channel. So much promotion for you guys. so i think they have been talking about maybe they should just send a game to us so i can unbox and review and show and tell everything maybe if they're clever business guys they will do that but let's see what's gonna happen because we're like 30 minutes from each other it could be cool yeah man yeah before the release let me just test the game give a proper feedback that's what you and then release it after you can't you can't do this whole thing like yourself and be like well i like it and it's like you're not building stuff that you like you're building stuff that other people are gonna like and you need to talk to other people you focus groups man you need to focus how about call outs they don't have the money to get arnold in there come on again hire jeng is after this cold is over and he's feeling better yeah i'll do that how would you feel how would you feel if they sold off the license and it was on a multi-morphic machine the Predator was coming out. Oh my God. You know what? I actually, this is going to sound mean, but I actually want Stern to make that game. So yeah, sorry. Yeah. I was actually, fast slippers. I listened to like 30 minutes, 20, 30 minutes of your latest show. You were talking about Stern should make Indiana Jones. Yes. And I fully agree with you. And I had another idea. We know Stern is listening. How cool would it be if Stern took one of their designers? Let's say Mr. Danger, right? Yeah. They take him and they say, Jack Danger, Indiana Jones 1, 2, and 3 is your dreams for the upcoming five years. You only have to concentrate about Indy 1, 2, and 3. And in five years, we need to release, you know, 1, 2, and 3 of Indy. So he really concentrates on that and really makes three amazing, cohesive games. I love it. When they're lined up to each other, it could be awesome. And then take... I just got an idea in my brain. Lightning struck my brain. Let me hear. The pinball cinematic universe, right? Where these games can all exist in the same realm. And you can have crossover from one game to another. Maybe a call-out from this game shows up in this game. and like a shot from this game shows up over here. I was just getting there. Wait, I was just getting there. Let me finish. Okay. Okay. Let me finish. And do the same with Keith Elwin. Oh. Yeah. Take him to a corner and say, Keith, for the upcoming five years, you will only concentrate on Star Wars Episode 4, 5, and 6. Yes. Yes. But you can choose the light side or the dark side when you start at Episode 4. And if you take the light side, you will build your Jedi powers up. And when Episode 5 comes out, you fight in the Battle of Endor and all that, you are already labeled 40 Jedi, and you will have so much more access to a lot of great stuff. So you will just make people want to buy these games or just go out the location and build it up. And at the time where we get episode six, oh, my God, Jedi overpowered Super Yoda overlords. I mean, Super Yoda overlords should be the subheading for whatever the title is. Couldn't it be awesome? Just next five years only concentrate on this. Oh, my God. I would subscribe to those games. Yeah, send it to me like Netflix, baby, back in the day. I want all of the toppers. You know, take my $1,400 John Wick hour-class flippy money. Yeah, man. So, yeah, the reason we made this show is, first of all, thank what's going on at the Patreon level. It's crazy, and it's crazy with all the talk in there, but also the support. Nothing is hidden here. I saw the screenshot, 600 bucks last month. Thank you, guys. We just started this up. Beautiful. But the second reason to we're making this show while I'm sick and Donnie is in a hurry is because of the accessories for the John Wick. Oh, yeah. Did you see these now? Have you seen? Did you watch? I don't know if I should. Okay. Okay, guys. This talk I'm going to share with you right now is something I will share on Patreon only. Put the kids to bed. But today we don't have time for Patreon, so I'm going to share it here. So yesterday I called Don up. I'm like, Don, are you hyped? And he just woke up. He's like, what? I'm like, like in three minutes we will get the Stern chopper release. Oh, yeah, that's going to be cool. And I'm like, heck, yeah, man. And we're talking, and Stern makes this. In two minutes it will be released. So I'm saying, yeah, okay, cool, cool, cool. Donnie, talk to you later. Let's check out the trailer, and I will call you back. Okay, okay. So I close the phone. We see the 30-second trailer. And I see the comments. People are like, what? And then I call Don to have a grown-up conversation. I call him, and he is just cracked up. He's laughing. He can't breathe. He's just laughing and laughing. And Don's laugh is a Viking laugh, you know. Oh, my God. Hilarious, man. What a way to walk into the day. Oh, my God. So, yeah, we got accessories for this very successful John Wick game, right, Donny? Sold out. Did you have your John Wick? No, no, sadly. He sold it? Yeah. Okay. Did Retro Ralph sell his John Wick also? Yes. Yes. So, I know. Why? Why? The code or what? Yes, that. Exactly that. Because we've been playing the same game for, like, 500, 600 plays now, and it's, like, nothing. Crickets. Nothing's coming out. They can't even put, like, a progress mode in the – or progress bar in the mode so we know, like, where we're even at. You know, you get into a mode on John Wick, and it's, like, Just play until you drain, and then you go to the next thing. And it's like, do that three times, and then that's your game. And it's like, come on. And then they put a fun mode in there, lights out, you hit the action button, and now there's even less information. What the hell, man? What's going on? What the heck, section on our Patreon. You know how it is. But what's going on right now? Because you just said something similar about X-Men and now with John Wick. Because personally, I love the theme. John Wick is one of the greatest themes they have made. I love the movies. I love the theme. Cool. Shots and layout. I think it's a cool shooting game also. I like it. I don't have any problems hitting the center ramp at all. I can get it with both flippers, man. I know where the locks are. I like the fact that the multiball that starts with the car randomizes every now and then. So every day it's a different one. The contracts went straight out the window. Those were exciting. You know, I remember I was like grinding and getting frustrated trying to get those contracts, but I got every single one of them. And then they just quit coming. And I just walk over to John. Why? I don't know. I don't know. It was so cool. People went to location and played that game and it just just randomized that shit. Just put it on. Build a macro and just have it like shoot out it randomly throughout the week. Like, oh, contracts here, man. I was hoping I was going to have an app and I was going to walk around like a secret agent and be like upstairs brushing my teeth. And then, boom, I've got to run downstairs and play this. There's 10 contracts. Let's go, man. And I run down there and get it. And then just great idea. Great idea. Fun, fast-playing game. Ramps that are relatively easy to shoot. They're fun to hit. I like the locks that are in there. I like that I got the extra stand-up target. I like the extra motion with the car and the Continental. And I like the John Wick call-outs. And then it's just like it got forgotten. It was what it feels like, right? also the what's it called is it a level up system why put a leveling system in if it doesn't make anything what that's not fun that's the opposite of fun I'm level 45 John Wick what do I get for that nothing I get limp I got limp testicles in my sack man that's all I got nothing to do man it needs some sort of purpose meanwhile I'm looking at Dungeons and Dragons that's coming out with like at least some code and i can go and fight wolves i can clear all the rats from the dungeon there's an owlbear in it i got freaking wharf from star trek the next generation as a dragon yelling at me making quips and stuff i got shots that are fun to hit and i got a shop system i got a leveling system i got four characters i got unlockable characters what the hell man just all out amazing call out if half of that was in john wick we'd have like a bomb ass game that like i'd really be sad if I didn't have it anymore. And it's like, why do you think it's like this? What's going on? I don't know. They need to go, like, you know, give Elizabeth, like, a TJ Maxx gift card and say, hey, do some work over here for us, please, this weekend. We really would appreciate it. She's like the secret sauce, man. She's got her fingers in Jaws. She's got her fingers in Dungeons and Dragons. She needs to get her fingers in Wick. That sounds weird. But, you know, come on, man. I actually got an interesting question for a short time ago. And I can share it Here, maybe people have some thoughts. So they said, I actually got asked, when Keith Elwin releases a game, yeah, he designs it, and he has got a great team that's programming it, but he all over the game code also Really all over the game code also Is that the reason that his games are so cool at the release day that the other designers are like this is my design, make the code, I'm going to jump to the next game? Can this be a possibility? Yeah, like if you're a pinball designer, you're just designing the white wooden layout and you're like, please somehow, you've got to be the creative director over this project. Or, you know, get a layout designer and let them do the layout really good, but then you still have, like, some sort of overarching project manager that can keep everybody, like, going in the same direction on this. You know, Keith seems to do that really well. I don't know, like, what the breakdown is on everybody else. But, like, when you have movies and you've got someone like, you know, James Cameron who's in a submarine at the bottom of the ocean floor and he's filming Titanic, he's involved in every part of it, you know. Ivan Reitman was like that. Egon from Ghostbusters. I forget his name. You know, but like just like all encompassing in there. You know, John Hughes got in there. He wrote the movies. He directed the movies, created control over them. You know, and like, yeah, it was in every part of it. You know, you need somebody that can go to like every team member and make sure everybody's rowing the same direction and we have like a cohesive vision that we're trying to get to. And maybe I'm expecting too much from pinball because I turn around and look at Road Trip at ABBA and I'm like, what are we even doing here, man? I mean, at these prices, I don't think you're expecting too much. When you pay like $13,000, you need to have some kind of cool experience from the day you unbox a game. Especially when you can pay $10,000 and get this thing right over here, this evil dead wide body loaded side to side with mechanisms. This plastic topper is free with your game, not $1,400 spinny hourglass. we're going to get to you, sir. But, you know, look what the competition has, man. Look at that art. Look at the powder-coated absolutely everything for $10K. Under $10K. Under $10K. We got asked, why are you Win Schilling this much for Spooky Pinball? We got asked this, why are you Win Schilling this much? Are they sponsoring your show? They're not sponsoring our show. They're just supporting us on Patreon. That's it. But it could be, I think it's a good idea if they should sponsor this show because both you and I have so much love for what they're doing. First of all, my saying for World 24 was under 10K, and they still kept it under 10K. Number two, games are jam-packed. Yeah. Like shots and layout, perfect. Almost so much toys. Amazing. Look at the code. They're just pumping up codes all the time. Talk about code update. Evil Dead just had a code update yesterday. I just put a new code on there. I have machine number 10. Only like less than 40 have left the factory. We're already getting code updates. And they're significant. There's significant changes in that code. Bug just did a whole live stream going over everything. This was so fun yesterday in his bug screaming stream on Twitch. He's going to move to YouTube soon. He was playing Evil Dead, the new code, and I had put my game on. So I have him in my headphones. I'm playing the same modes that he's playing. And I'm like, he's telling me what to do, and I'm doing it in my game. That was freaking cool, man. Awesome. That was awesome. And at one point, I was further along in a mode than he was, and I was feeling really good. Then I just triple drained or whatever. I'm so happy you're enjoying this game this much. It's beautiful, man. But let's jump over to John Wick accessories. Oh, God. All right. Yeah. So we were excited. We will start with those speaker light kits, right? You have to get them. How much do they cost? 199 us dollars yeah and they blink to the music or something right yeah and when there's um when there's like gunshots going on in the game like they're flashing you know and and the shaker motor's going off in time with them it's one of the coolest like immersive ways to leverage lighting and physical force feedback in pinball like there's spots of brilliance in john wick and it just feels like it's being underserved but yeah for sure these new games that are coming out Metallica, Jaws, John Wick, you definitely got to get the speaker light kit for them. The Stern one comes with a node board because there's a lot that's been programmed in there and it's better than just like a blinky LED that you can get for $15. I know they're cheap. I know they're cheap, but $199, you're paying $100 for the lights, for the node board, for all that business, then $100 for the coding that they put into it, and then you get something cool, man. Not just like a remote control from China. Yeah, you can get that for $20 if you want, I've done it. But, yeah, I do think it's compelling, and I hope they don't raise the price on those. But that being said, after I have enjoyed pin vision on Stern speakers, nothing comes close. I'm so sorry. Time to shill for pin vision. I'm so sorry. They're so crazy. $700 for blurry videos on my speakers. I love it. That's fantastic, man. I'm saying they are amazing. You know what? I watch Kerry Hardy's videos, and then I notice in the background his Foo Fighters. He's got the pin vision in there, and I'm like, damn it, that looks cool. Damn it. But if you've got 10 games in your basement, that's like $7,000 in pin visions, man. That's a big ask. What's $7,000 in the pinball industry? They just released this topper I want to ask you about. So it's a flat plastic. Flat plastic. Yeah, flat plastic with 150 LEDs. It's an LED strip from Ikea for $4. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. And this hourglass that turns. So that's like $249, right? Or was it $349 they cost? Oh, no, it's $1,499. 1,500 smack-a-roonies for this thing. Oh, my God. How much was the flat plastic that Spooky's Game came with for $10,000? Oh, that was included. That was free. That was free. I mean, I'm looking at the background right now. Now, that topper on, I'm sorry, guys, on Evil Dead again with that. That's a $1,400 topper. Fully sculpted. That's $1,400. Yeah, and now we can get a John Wick topper that says, I'm not kidding, it says John Wick, Donnie. Yeah. The topper says John Wick on top of John Wick. I love that. I love that. I love that. That's not the first thing. The second thing. So who is this topper made for? because the limited edition is so beautiful. That back glass is so beautiful, but it won't fit on that. That's just how I feel. No, you are absolutely right. It looks like the premium, right? The premium is blues and purples, and it probably has the worst art of the three, and this fits up there. They took the back of the machine, which has that cool neon noir, edge-lit fluorescent plastics, and they put that on the topper, So, like, it matches that, but, you know, I really want to jump into who this is for and why it's $1,400 or $1,500 because I think I figured it out. It's $100 more than the Evil Dead topper. It's $1,500. This is $1,400. It doesn't match the freaking limited edition of John Wick with the foil on the side and the stained glass, back glass. It's like the best turn is done. It's got raised leading on it. You can feel it. And then this, I wanted like candles on top to look at the top of a cathedral with like a broken chandelier that shatters or something. But no, we got the back of the play field up on top of the game with John Wick and then the hourglass. And the mechanism from the Deadpool film. Right? My God, buddy. Also, also, not because I'm anal about there are no guns. This has nothing to do with that. Please don't misunderstand me. But, okay, on locations, blah, blah, blah, the licensor didn't want to have no guns. But the topper is for the home private user. Cengiz. For Stern to say, shut the fuck up, they could put in two 9mm guns up there. I mean, they could do it. I can hear George Gomez screaming right now. They still have to get the topper approved by the licensor to put it out. The licensors' issue was they don't want guns on locations. That's what they said. But it won't be on location. No, that's what they said. But the real reason is probably that the actors and everybody else that have to sign off on it or their management companies are not wanting them associated with that, anything outside of the actual film or movie posters apparently or something. So you're saying somebody's lying. I think so. Yeah, yeah, of course. Yeah, the corporate line is that, you know, well, kids in locations. It's like, come on now, come on. You know, that's what they sold us. But the fact is it's just like a no-go. There's probably no way they could have done that. They couldn't have put like an AK-47 on there, rotate the world. I would like to see, you know, John Wick, you know, all dark and his hair is down and he's holding dual guns on something. Yeah, I'm thinking I'm back. Yeah, with hall outs up there or something and with blue lights. It could be one green Elodie strip. It doesn't have 150 Elodies. It could just have 20. Oh, my God. It's so dumb. $1,500. I know why. I know why. Okay. Everybody has dumped their John Wick, right? So who's going to have a John Wick and put $1,500 into a topper? Probably about 120 people, if we're being honest, right? So they could have came out with this topper for $650, and they would have sold like 150 of them. Or they could come out with it for $1,500 and still sell 150 of them because those 150 people are going to buy it regardless, and they know that. So they're like, you know what? If we're only going to sell 150 of these things, let's at least charge $1,500 for them, right? I saw this morning one guy wrote on Pinside Enthusiast. He wrote, oh, my God, I need to sell my John Wick Pro to afford the top. I hope he has two of them to sell. Darn it, man. Whoa. But, yeah, heck, yeah, there are these collectors. They don't care about $1,500. They don't care, right? So it's just they will buy no matter what. But a topper that says the game's name, you know, a few millimeters over the game's name. I mean, you have got this. I can see your Star Wars. It says Star Wars at the back glass up top. Just putting a topper on top of that that says Star Wars. They did this with the Turtles. I thought it was done there, but it wasn't. Somebody is sitting over at Stern right now in the back room at the prototype level, turning around and looking at the Venom topper they have in development. It just says Venom in big letters, and it's probably like, aw. Damn it. We know it's Venom. These ass faces, they're going to give us so much crap. Who are these WAP guys? They should just shut the F up. You know, at this point, if I was designing the Venom topper, I would just take the kiss topper with those lights and just spell Venom in big lights like Elvis and just like V-E-N-O-M. Just be like, F you, everybody. fucking Venom up on the top and Elvis lights this is what you're going to get oh Donnie what the heck happened with WAP brothers they're just pinball shields this is not shielding I know something is wrong right now we're not shielding we shield because we love pinball but if you release shit we will talk about it it is what it is man And look at John Wick, like the LE cabin in the back glass, some of the best I've seen. The theme is amazing. There's call-outs from Keanu Reeves in there. But it's just failing because of, like, you know, code and boring gameplay that, like, can be fixed, man. The layout, I don't even hate the layout. You only put one drop target in the game. That sucks, but I'm not going to beat you up over that. But, like, give me a progress bar. Let me know what I'm supposed to be doing. You know, you got all these, like, inserts on the play field, and, like, I don't know what half of them do. I've never seen it. We're like deep in the sauce here, man. Can you come out and be like, here's our creative vision for this. I was actually, my thoughts was over here. This game, Luke won't welcome. Yeah, yeah, I know. But I was like, this chopper is going to have the Mandalorian effect. Do you remember when we got the Mandalorian chopper? People were like, oh, I'm going to buy this game because the chopper is so awesome. Because the Mando chopper is really cool, man. Really cool. I was in that mode yesterday, but this is a huge fail. And on top of that, the price of $1,500, that's just... What the heck? I know, man. I know. I'm with you. I'm right there standing next to you. We're on the same couch. We're in the same bathtub. Hell yeah, man. So we have got the new rails cabinet armor. Just when I was... Oh, fuck, man. $270 now for the same armor that you already have on the premium that somebody cut a 4 inch hole saw hole in and put a sticker in there $270 if you've got a premium you already have this armor get your friend to cut a hole in it put a sticker there and save yourself $270 you don't even need to put the hole man just put the sticker on that's it and listen maybe this is all the licensor would let them do but then why charge is laziness this is laziness man you can't honestly be like like like i don't know dude i mean it's just so lazy i love stern i want them to kick more ass than usual but moves like this why i don't get it i really don't get it we got the shooter rock right we got the shooter rod now the pros and cons pros i like that it's not the the shooter rod is not sticking out so i don't hit it with my leg just like on the elvira blood red that had this sword handle you walk into it you crash it right right that's the pro but the cons is just this big round disc it's not nice to shoot with right and it's like was it 100 bucks or 104 how much did that cost? $200. Oh, my sweet mother of candy flush. Why? Yeah, the same price as those awesome speaker lights that are integrated with the game and really add an extra dimension is the cost for the $20 Blood Oath token you can get from Amazon or even cheaper on Timu. And epoxy onto it. I know, man. I know. What the hell? So it has got also those inside lights. $600 expression lights. They're awesome. But honestly, at this point, If you have six games, ten games, it's $6,000, Donnie. And it's $800 for the expression lights for the backbox and the cabinet. And if you look at the cost of a premium versus an LE you can just buy the LE and get the better graphics and everything and it already comes included You can can also see the le prices as i seeing the junk bag le right now they about 9 000 yeah yeah so and they don sell at 9 000 that's the issue so tell you what man i mean pick up an le for 8 500 you know and uh you know whatever i think it's i think the game's gonna end up being good i can't think of a game of the last five releases from Stern that was totally ignored. It's just we feel neglected right now. Let me see. Last five years. You're thinking code lines? Yeah, yeah. James Bond got there. Stranger Things got there. Star Wars is okay. A game called Monsters. Not everybody likes it. I like Monsters. I like Monsters. I'm happy with where it ended up. But no, they haven't abandoned anything. People feel like they have invented X-Men. The feel is real. Yeah, so how we feel is we're manifesting it as reality. So I hope it comes through. I think it will. But I wish they would be a little more transparent and said, you know, we're working on this code. We don't know when it's going to come out. But here's some things that we want to get this to, you know. Here's some inserts, and here's how we want this game to develop. And tell me you're coming up with a plan for the leveling system at least, man. where I can cash in for an extra five seconds of ball save or something. That would be interesting. This is not a $500 PS5. This is a $13,000. I was just about to say investment. I didn't. This is a $13,000 toy you buy as a hobby. 99% of the hobbies, you will lose value, money all over it. We know it. We know it. But this is a bad way to lose because this is – because of the product is not enjoyable enough to have the buyer to keep his game for two, three, five years. Yeah. These games are getting sold under one – some of the games is like 40 plays and they're disappointed and they're selling them. That's not a cool way to lose value, if you know what I mean. Yeah. Now, I did sell my LE, but – well, trade deal. But, I mean, I had hundreds of plays on it. You know, I play my damn games. And my Star Wars I'm not getting rid of. My Munsters I'm not getting rid of. My Stranger Things is staying. You know, my WWE WrestleMania limited edition Batou Kogan's freaking signature on their brother is not leaving anywhere. Yeah. You know, so, like, I'm not just, like, churning all my sterns and getting them out of here. My Black Knight Sword of Rage Pro, I want to sell my used one so I can buy one of the newer builds and still have it because I really, really like that game. Black Knight Sword of Rage. Why do you want to do that? Is there any updates on the new build? Do you know that? No, but my game was routed. It was in a bowling alley. There's 25,000 plays on it. And while it plays fine and there's no issues with it, I'm just thinking mentally, I want to have a brand-fresh new pine box version. Yes, that's how I feel also. So somebody out there has a location and wouldn't mind paying $4,500 for a Black Knight Sword of Rage Pro that everything works just fine. It's just it's got plays on it. so I can then pay a couple extra thousand, find a newer build just to satisfy my own ADHD. Can you get $5,000 for that game now? Actually, I think you can because the cheapest one on pin size is like $6,800. So I think I could probably get $5,000 or $5,500 for it. Yeah, man. Shoot it and just get a brand new on-charge virgin pin. I want to have a mirrored back glass made for it. I want to put an amp in there. I really want to make it a showpiece game because I really love playing Black Knight Sword of Rage Pro. I put a premium-made plan in. That topper, when it came out, do you remember how much? It was like $700, right? Yeah, I think it was $599 or $699. It was a great topper, and it was fair for the money. That's how you do it. This $1,500, a month after we got the evil dead topper, something is wrong. I know, something is wrong. Yeah, something is wrong. And have you shown your Metallica topper? Oh, yeah. So that's over at 1UP Lounge now. It's on location, Bellingham, Washington. Get over there, and you can check out my topper in person. And when you sell that topper, how much do it charge? So something like that, I'm thinking like $450. There you go. And how cool is that topper, man? I love it. Yeah, it says Metallica. It's edifaced into a rock face. I mean, a rock mountain back there. there's sound interactive leds within the metallica lettering and then there's two giant skulls on either side with like red leds that interact with the game so when sparky's getting shocked they're strobing they're flashing they go on with the lights they go off with the lights man i'm so happy with how that came out yeah and for that price i mean it's a no-brainer one thing that's really cool about the john wick topper compared to the metallica topper yeah is that the metallica topper was half size oh yeah mine is coast to coast man we're filling that entire area up there you know if you're gonna never never do a half size that that's so dumb that's putting a burger king crown on your kid put a jeweled crown up there this topper for dunwick it's just about the same size after it's like three inches off from each side i think i don't know i don't know Yeah, around that. So that's better. So that's a pro. Yeah. Now, the John Wick topper just on its own, I like it enough. It looks kind of cool. But when you bring the price in, no way does that match. No way does that match. Yeah, exactly, man. It's just flat plastic, flat plastic. This should be like the $450 John Wick topper if you want to put it on your game. And then they should come out with an LE version with like a chandelier up there. It looks like the cathedral fits. And that should be the $1,500 version. Exactly. Yeah, yeah. So we need to discuss something cool about this topper. A cool thing that Stern is doing to sell these toppers are when you pay $1,500 or $2,000, you will get an extra game mode. Have you seen that? Yeah, so I watched the video that Tim Sexton and Elliot Elliot Eismin did yesterday with Stern where they played through this new mode, the TikTok Mr. Walk. Mr. Walk. Exactly. So every time you make the combo shots. A little bit of sand. A little bit of sand will fall into your shorts. Very cool. Very cool. So when you, so all the sand falls down, it will turn, and you will have three minutes to score like 45 million points. And this is a progressive thing, like a casino slot machine, you know, where you don't know which player is going to be there when the sand finally falls and they get to play that mode. That's cool. That's fun on location. Imagine if it was a cathedral on top with a stone hourglass that was then moving, and that's what it did. It was part of the building. I like the idea. Yeah, that's a $1,500 topper idea. Yeah, yeah. I mean, every time they sell these toppers, of course, distros also get their margin. It is what it is. But maybe because they're selling so few choppers compared to everything else, maybe they should just send them out direct and remove that margin so the money is a bit more realistic. Because 1,500 for this, yes, some diehard LE buyers are going to buy. But if this was $7.99 or something, much, much more realistic, and they will sell many, many more. If you're looking at how much actual cash and revenue you can bring in, wouldn't it be better to sell $400 at $799 than $150 at $1,500 just in terms of gross dollars? And just like the goodwill you would curry too. And as you mentioned, I have another version for the LE. Wasn't it Iron Maiden that had multiple choppers? Yeah, because the Asus high topper that I had to buy for my premium that looked like ancient Egypt didn't really fit. But that Egypt topper did, and I wish I could have got that. Yes, for the premium, right? Yeah. Oh, it just matches. I mean, there's just so much money to be made that way. It just, I don't know who to call. If this John Wick topper was $649 and you had a $1,500 awesome cathedral topper with candles and stuff, then I'd feel like, okay, yeah, I'm going to buy the $1,500 one because it's so much better and it fits the LVM. Then we would shill, right? Yeah. Then we would shill. Absolutely shill, yeah. And then you could still, if you had a location, you wanted the mode, you can get the cheaper one. And then, you know, because we're not going to see $1,500 toppers on location with a freaking TikTok walk. and that's what this kind of mode is built for is on location so you don't know which player is going to be able to play and get the last little bit of sand and play that mode and if you want to play it you got to keep paying to play that game to get to that mode but ain't nobody that's an operator going to spend $1500 to put that up there and then you know they're going to have to wait another 1500 plays until they break even on that accessory like with no contracts with no contracts well then But the idea is so cool. So you can, just like on the old games, you could actually steal each other's multiple locks. But in this way, you could steal each other's sand bonuses. So awesome stuff. We're talking facts here, sir. Yeah. Last thing I just want to have in here is when this game got released, you made the most awesomest shooter rod. It was the gun. Yes. It was the gun. But you could also, you know, what's it called? You could also use it as a normal – what's it called when you put it in a magazine and you – When you rack it, yeah. When you rack it. Okay, when you rack a gun. I don't know. So you could both have it as a shooter or a racker, you know? Yeah, well, my version was just the rack. The interactive pinball did the one where you actually had a physical trigger that would work with like the auto-launch button. Again, Donnie, this has nothing to do with location. this is for the private user right when i play my last action hero that gun you shoot there bam when i play my old stinky uh lethal weapon it has got this gun bam so fun indiana jones bam so how but for 200 bucks they could do this i mean it's the biggest fail man how much did that interactive charge for their gun? I have to look. I think it was like $180 or something. It was just so cool. Your creation was also cool. I actually haven't seen the other one you're talking about, but if it's better than yours, then wow. Are you hitting it up right now? Yeah, I'm looking it up right now. Talk amongst yourselves. Okay, yeah, yeah, yeah. I'm going to find out how much this is. He's got so much cool stuff, man. All right, $249. And this thing is like sculpted. It looks like a freaking gun. You can rack it and physically shoot. You can squeeze the trigger and auto launch. You could also hit the eject button on the magazine. It'll fall out and you can put the keys to the game in there and then put it in the bottom of the gun. It's like a lot of functionality there for $249 versus a literal coin epoxied onto a shooter rod for $200. My goodness, man. My goodness. I understand it's a very, very easy way to make money. But that medallion thing, it's also at the left of the play field. If they did this for $249, official from Stern, can you imagine how many shooter rods they would sell instead of this? It's just fail, fail, and this armor with a hole and a sticker, fail. They just killed the WAP shield at this release. I'm so sorry. But keep it real, brother. Keep it real. It is what it is. Oh, my God. What a show, man. What a show we've got here. Yeah. Yeah. I want to thank all the messages, all the positive feedbacks we got from our show number 22, where we talked about politics, tariff, how it reacted with the market in the whole world. We were like, never talk politics. But the response is like, you two guys, you really have some balls. You're talking about politics. We're not taking sides. It's nothing about that. It's just what's going on. How does it affect our hobby? The response was so great. I'm not afraid of talking about politics again because it was just mind-blowing positive. Yeah, I'm on the side of the pinball player and, you know, especially like my brothers across seas that already have to pay the value-added tax. and then you look at tariffs and then like where's they gonna leave the pinball companies and then you know they're gonna have to cut back even more raise prices even more and like we're gonna get higher prices and less fun games less often i don't want that that's not good for anybody no it's yeah but yeah but the response in general it was so positive so thank you guys i just want to say that um that's about it i know you have to leave so no we're sorry guys yeah We're sorry, guys. No extra shows for you on Patreon, but when Donnie comes back from the trivia show, he would have some direct access for some upcoming stuff. Is that the best way we can say it? Yeah, we're going to go play Barrels of Sand, hopefully. I don't know what the game is. Rumored to be Dune. I can talk about it now. I'm not under NDA, but that's the speculation. We'll see. I don't know that anybody's clamoring for a Dune pinball machine. Have you seen the films or the books? I love the theme. I don't understand how it would be. I mean, Evil Dead, yes, I know how it can be a pinball machine. Whatever. Star Wars, I know how it can be a pinball machine. But Dune, it's a space opera thing, man. I mean. Angel is riding. Okay, yeah. All right. I got people blowing me up. I got to get in the car and get to the airport, sir. More WAP to come. And I'll be back in a couple of days, man. And we'll talk about what happened. Heck yeah, brother. Safe trips. Say hello to everybody. And all the listeners, I want you all to support tomorrow, so let's just enjoy it and have some pinball fun. Hell yeah, regulators. Reguladores. Bienvenidos. Los calles controlamos. Aquí tenemos a todo. I hope my homie Nuno listens to this, man. He appreciates my Spanish. Love it. Reguladores.
