Hello, kids. My name is Dennis, and I'm an alcoholic. Cool. Yes! Five years ago, I had my own business. I was making pretty good money, had a family, a nice house, but I lost it all because of my drinking. Well, now I spend all my time at Rolling Hills. It's a clinic for people, like me, who have a problem with alcohol. That's cool. Hey, Beavis, maybe they can help us with our problem. Yeah, maybe they could get us some beer. Coming to you from beautiful upstate New York, this is the Slam Tilt Podcast, a show about all things pinball. I'm your host, Ron Hallett, here with my co-host, Bruce Nightingale. Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. Are you sure you're on the right fucking podcast? Being with the F-bomb, yes, we are on the right podcast. Okay. This is episode 140. Of Silver Ball Chronicles. No, that's the other podcast I'm on, Bruce. I know. I don't know if it'll be out by the time this one's out. I don't know the timing exactly. I guess Ron's good and I'm the evil one of the two. No, you're the one with no time. I know. But I was never asked. well, it's Silver Ball Chronicles. Think of it as a hands-on history. It's a history of pinball with different subjects. I'd say geared more towards newbies in the hobby. Because most people who have been around forever would be like, yeah, I know that. Yeah, I know that. It's not really for you. And it's much more professional. There's no swearing. No F-bombs. Oh, fucking shit. Maybe because I don't conform. Maybe that's it. they asked me if I wanted to do this and you get to talk about the history of pinball and you don't have to edit. As soon as they said you don't have to edit, I'm like, I'm in. But maybe they just don't like how I don't bend to the will of others. Yeah, okay. You are the great whatever. You're the counter. I am awesome. All right, all right. We have a guest. We do. Who do we have? Some guy we know that's local. Who did pretty good last night in league, didn't he? It's all right. It's Mr. Zach. Welcome back, Zach. Back again. Yes. He sounds amazingly excited. He always does. Mm-hmm. I mean, I had to get out of bed before noon on a Sunday, so... Oh, crap. Really? You sleep that late? I do. Well, yeah, you were probably up till four in the morning. I was up till three. Speaking of that, Bruce, I'm glad you decided to join us. Yeah, thanks. You know, felt like it, you know. We were supposed to record last week. we were but sunday yeah we're gonna do sunday ron and like last night like no i can't do it let's do monday okay we'll do monday and then nope can't do monday oh i had a i had a train wreck saturday night that just kept on piling over and piling over not many times we have issues at the bar but this is one time where i just had to bang my head against the wall a couple times and And it is finally rectified. People are stupid. Let's just say that. Ah, okay. And let's just say that people are really fucking stupid. You know, you could start your own podcast called Silver Ball Saloon Chronicles or something. You could talk about all this stuff. Douchebags. If you go onto, like, Facebook and type in angry bartender, you can see all the stupid bartender stories. lately, oh my god, people are stupid. That's all I'm going to say. Let's just say one person got a nice ride from some nice people who work sometimes, they work 24 hours 7 days a week for our community. And they got a nice ride from them. Oh, okay. Well, I had to as usual, did you get that, Zach, at all? Did it take you a second to understand what he meant there? I figured that out as soon as you said nice ride. Yeah. Oh. That's pretty obvious. Oh, pretty obvious. Okay, so I'm stupid. All right. Stomp. Stomp west, Bruce. Yes. The date is tentative for April 18th. Tentative. Tentative? Yes, because here's the reason why. I've not gotten approved for my FPA yet. That's the reason why it's tentative. But it was supposed to be March 7th you told me last time. What happened? It was. we have a party of 35 coming in on a Saturday. So it's going to be a freaking madhouse on March 7th. So the parties are more important than us? Yeah. Okay. But April 18th is going to be Stomp 3. We have to figure out a name. We have to figure out a name. West. What's the theme? I thought it was Stomp West 2 or Stomp 2 West or Stomp 3 West. Wow, we've had that many of them. But we have to think of a theme. Why? We've never thought of a theme the last couple of them. Doesn't only Stop East have a theme? Do we even have a theme? What theme do we have? Last time it was the search for Sulu. Oh, you mean, okay, that's not really a theme. You get fancy taglines. Stop West is West. Zach, see, he always makes it sound like it's my fault. It is your fault. That's not a theme. That's like a byline. That has nothing to do with a theme. A theme is like if you had a show and it was like 80s theme and everyone dressed in 80s stuff. We have Sulu there. We plug Sulu all the time. That's a theme. You have Sulu to be signed there. It's a theme. Yeah, but your line, that's the only part of the stomp, is the byline. It's a byline. It has nothing to do with the theme. Were you searching for Sulu or whatever when it was the search for Sulu? We played Star Trek. Yeah, but if you had the search for Sulu, you would have hidden the Sulu cutout somewhere in the Silver Ball Saloon and someone had to find it. Ooh. Actually, that's not a bad idea. Yeah, I'm going to say. Hide them under, like, a game or something. No. Just get, like, a little Sulu, like, cardboard sticker, like, an inch tall, and just hide it somewhere in the back of one of the playfields. Yeah. No, no, we've got to get a Sulu little, like, character. Like, a little, like, action figure. And put them in one of the games. Like Baby Groot that always falls off of Guardians. Exactly, off Guardians, yes. We need to mod the games at the bar. Yes. Yes. Can we make it Sulu with the sword? Of course. With the shirt off? Oh, my. You have to do that. Yes, we have to. All right. So that's the tentative date. I'm going to put the approval in tomorrow, and I'm going to work with Josh about the 2019 Upstate New York rankings. Oh, yeah, that was my next question. Upstates, what are we doing? When is that happening? I'm dealing with that, and then we're probably going to be asking Howard. Howard is offered last time, so it will probably be at Howard's. And I'm probably going to do it in probably early May if it's available for him because it would be a little not so warm, not so cold, because he does have his downstairs basement area. I don't know if that's heated or not, is it? Yeah. When he closes the garage, it's heated. Yeah, exactly. I know he likes to keep the garage open. You mean early May, like right between Pinfest and the NFC champs? Yeah, I was just thinking about the same thing also. I know. I was like, maybe a little earlier then. Are you going to make me drive out there three weekends in a row? Yeah, because we're in May. I mean, you're getting to insane levels of, like, it's the 2019 Upstate Finals, and we're in May. Who cares? Do you want to have a snowstorm again? No. April will be safe from snow, probably. I hope so. You hope so. I hope so. So since we are the leaders of snow in New York State. Congratulations. You're third or fourth. You're fourth. Really? Yeah, I'll be fourth. See, I'm going to go through my list here. We have a list. We're so organized. Well, since we're all here, have we all seen the Rick and Morty footage? F yeah. Some of it. So for those wondering what we're talking about, they had Spooky on their YouTube channel released footage, actual gameplay footage of Rick and Morty, which was the first footage of said type. And I watched the whole video. Me too. So, thoughts? I liked it a lot. I thought the humor was really good. The lines, I thought it really hit home. Me and Zach were talking about it, and I know Zach will chime in about the upper right loop shot seems very... And the lower side shot, too. Yeah, they're both very clunky. Both the side flipper shots did not look smooth or easy to hit at all. Especially for, I always suck at side flipper shots to begin with. So I'm like, I'm never going to eat those shots it looks like from that video. And you need to for super skill shots and that kind of stuff. But I think starting a mode is a little easy, though, with hitting a ramp. Hit a ramp and hit the center shot. There's your mode shot. There's your mode start. Yeah, I assumed, because they've got, like, the hole, you know, with the subway in the back left corner under the house. Like, I assumed, like, that would be the mode start shot. Don't lie. But now it's the scoop, which seems weird. So I'm not, I didn't see any use of that hole in the back corner. No. No, neither. Even, like, you could hit it from the lower side shot, or I think the upper right outer orbit, because there's, like, two orbits right next to each other, right, on the right side? Yes. Let's see. My impression is the far left shot, I never saw hit in the entire street. Yeah, I agree. What far left shot? The far left shot that goes into the garage. Yes. I never saw it. From the side flipper? No. I don't even know if you'd be able to hit it from the side flipper. It's so far out. No, you'd be able to hit it from the right flipper. I'm not talking about the looping, the skill shot side flipper. There's one even further left that's supposed to go up to the garage. There's the loop, and then there's a target below that, and then there's another shot below that, right? Yep. I think I saw it once on the internet feed that they did for Adult Swim. Yeah, they did. For Adult Swim, they had this show called, what, Something Bullshit Something? Yeah, Bullshit Internet or something like that. Oh, my God. And I thought it was like an actual show, but it was an internet show. It was bad. Nothing to do with the game. I mean, it was cringe-worthy. It made us look professional. It made us look professional, I have to say. Holy shit, she's an idiot. Charlie and Bug there, father and son of Spooky and Bowen, playing the game. And it was filmed more for the show than to really show the game in any way. Yeah. And the questions the host asked were quite dumb. Yes, and the rig. If they had a rig on it, it would have been so much better. It was more for content for their show, I'm sure. But it was, I tried to, I was going to watch the whole show, but I had to fast forward right to the game, and then I watched a little of that, and where it was obvious where it was going, I can't watch anymore, so I had to turn it off. Yeah, it was pretty bad. It was bad. So, Ron, you beat the shot to the left of the left ramp, right? Yes. Like, I can't picture it being hit from any flipper except the side flipper. Yeah, and I didn't see it hit. It'll be a really late shot on that one, but it looks like that's a super jackpot shot. So that'll be... Yeah, I think I saw it once hit during the... And Bowen hit it during the gameplay on that one. Yeah, like, not only did he have to hit this really late, weird shot, but then it has to go all the way back to the hole in the back corner after that. Yeah. It's not just hit the shot, you just hit it right to a scoop. It has to have a lot of power, too. That shot was really hard to hit. But what did you think of it, guys? Ratings so far, you know? Well, no, I'm still going here. The skill shot, like when they would plunge it and it comes to that upper flipper, every attempt at that side loop was just clunk, clunk, clunk, clunk, clunk, clunk. It was very clunky, yes. The only time it seemed to work is if you had more speed and it was faster, and then you got it going, then it worked. But it didn't seem to work from the plunge, at least as far as I saw. No, I agree. It was pretty clunky. Light show was incredible. Yes, light show was incredible. The full RGB lighting, the stuff they can do. They had this spotlight effect. They did one where the spotlight's roving back and forth. Mm-hmm. The sound in the video is, I mean, it's what it needs to be. Yes. I'm actually caught up on Rick and Morty, so it definitely helps if you watch Rick and Morty, because you will know what the modes are, because they all tie into different episodes. Just like in Family Guy. Exactly like Family Guy in that way. Yeah, except with actual video. Yeah, I agree, but actually, I didn't mind the, you got some, you know, not video, because it wasn't really... You wouldn't want screen capture on that back in the Sam System 1, you know, Sam System. Oh, you're talking about Family Guy? Yeah, no. No. That's all I'm saying. I think the... because they had the full video, but it was just repeating loops of video all the time. You know, which like, with Family Guy, it was also repeating loops of animation, but since it was such lower fidelity animation, the looping was much less noticeable. You know, than like this one. I was watching the first time when they were on the roller coaster mode, and you're watching the same four seconds of video over and over and over. No, no, it did change a little bit. Because if you watch that episode, there's a lot of him taking... It's only... That episode is 50 seconds of that whole piece. It's hard to make a mode out of 50 seconds of... I mean, that's the problem with using full motion video for your modes, though. Yeah, you're limited. If you look at, like, Batman 66, what they do is they play the scene once, and they'll just stop on a still scene to get the next shot to keep it from being too repetitive with the video. But this one was just looping over and over and over. Yeah. Which I won't be too bad as a player if the video was there to, like, draw the people in, and they're just seeing the same footage over and over. That doesn't seem too good to me. No, I agree with that, too. Well, how would you handle that? Like Batman, probably. It seems like the only way I can think of to handle it is that or don't use full motion video. Or, in between, you can have them say, we're having a different bit of video, not from that episode, but like, come on, guys, come on, do it, come on, you can do it, almost taunting you a little bit. Some reusable mix-in footage they could use in multiple modes to taunt you. Have some custom footage. That'd be really expensive. That'd be expensive. Would it be expensive? I mean, it's all computer-generated animation they use now. Would it really be that expensive to do short little clips? But I like this animation to like the Aerosmith animation for those modes. Like that was all just the same style of, you know, just computer generated stuff to like. Technically, they could have just gotten some models of all the characters and like animated some stuff that probably outside of Spooky's budget. That's more of like a stern thing to do, seems. But I think it would still be a more of a price tag on it. but I like to see him do something a little different during some of those. Cause as Zach said, but it was cool when you made a shot, it continued some parts of that, that episode. And then you saw the same thing again after another shot. And you're like, wait a sec, that was the first part. Or that was the second part of that. If you've watched the show so many times, you kind of know, but you're limited. You're limited. Most of it was you, you start a mode, it'll play a clip from the episode. And then while you're in the mode, it'll play the same loop over and over. it's kind of what it does which as a player as long as I get a cool call out every time I shoot a shot that's all I care about I'm not ever going to be looking up during the play so as long as they're saying something different each time you do something to progress the mode that's all that's really going to matter for play anything else? congratulations to Jeff Parsons of the Pinball Players Podcast he's in the game yes he is so I have to ask why am I not in a game Bruce? Everyone else is getting these games. You are. No, I'm not. Yeah, you will be. One of these days you will be. Jeff Teolis. I'm not. Yeah, Jeff Teolis is in Retro Atomic Zombie Adventureland. Now Jeff Parsons is in this game. What, you have to be in radio to get in? Is that the rule? Maybe. Oh, my. Oh, no. Marty. Martin of Head to Head. He was in Houdini. What the hell? Why can't I get in a game, Bruce? Yeah. You better talk to your agent, Ron. Yeah, where is my agent? You're my agent, Bruce. Come on, get me in the game. Yeah, okay. The more I look at this Rick and Morty layout, the less I like it. Oh. Ooh. It just scares me. Why? There's so many weird things. Different. You always say that. Everyone does cookie cutter. Then somebody does not do a cookie cutter. Oh, no. I like the non-cookie. But all the little details of the left ramp that has this one weird post that's partly in front of the ramp because they needed to make the side shot bigger. I know. It seems messy. Creative, but messy. So what did you think of the topper, guys? Did they show the topper? Yes, they did. Oh, they showed it. Okay, they showed it on that show. I may not have seen. I may not have hung in long enough to see the topper. Ah, yes. So it's the spinning. It's actually spinning in the background with flashers in the back of the worm, like when they do the portal effect. Okay. Not bad. I think compared to other toppers out there, not wow. No, but it's cool for free. Yeah, exactly. Those other toppers cost money. This one came with it. Yep. What was the last game to actually come with a topper? Stock. A little trivia there, if anyone knows. Wizard of Oz. Stock? Wizard of Oz. Yeah, but okay. Yes, it was stock with like LE models. It wasn't stock with standard models. So let's take all that LE bullshit out. Just a regular game. It's stock, every model, topper. I assume it's not any Stern, right? Well, yes. Well, if you include the tournament sign, it would seem to be Stott. But I'm not including that because that's stupid. Okay. It would have to be Doctor Who or Fishtails. No. Oh, Teed Off came after those, right? Oh, that's right. That's terrible. Hey. Ron likes it, so it's really bad. I like it. I've still never played one. It's not that good. It is good. No, it's not. I mean, one of you likes Star Wars, one of you doesn't, so... I mean, how bad can Titoff be? Exactly. I meant the software is somewhat lacking, but I think there's some improvements there, and it has the same problem with being able to trap everything, but again... And the gobble holes of hell. Gobble holes? What gobble holes of hell? There's no gobble holes in that one, is there? It just has a hole in the... I think it's on the right side. Yes, right side, yes. Big deal! That's one of the shots you want to hit. What's wrong with it? humongous fucking shot. No, it's... South Park. Again, that wasn't on all of them. Yes, it was. There's only one version of South Park. I've never seen every... How is it missing from 90% of the South Parks I've seen? You can wait it down underneath it. It was underneath it, but you didn't have to put it on if you were an operator. Okay, so it came with a topper, but not installed. Yes. Okay, when's the last game that had an installed topper? Okay. I'm still going back to Williams. I would think it's the one that Zach used to own. Used to own? Yeah. Or did you even own it? Or were you working on it for someone? Judge Dredd. No, that's a 92, isn't it? Yeah, I think. No, Judge Dredd is like 93 or 94. I think it's after Demoman. Yeah. Let's see. End of 93. September 93. And Keyed Off was also 93, I think. Yeah, I think you're right. So which one beat it? And the teed-off one is ridiculous. Teed-off was May. Okay. Okay. So I'm thinking Judge Dredd. The teed-off one might be. That's up there with the Dungeons & Dragons one, with the boom box and heavy metal meltdown as far as tallest. What was Lights, Camera, Action, Sooner? That's right. Yes. Yes, Bruce. That's the major, oh, my God. That's not a top even. That's just part of the backbox. That's part of the backbox. No, it's an add-on thing. It's an add-on piece. The heat lamps? Yes, the heat lamps. The teed-off one, because System 3 backbox anyway, which is tall, and then you have this thing on top of it. It's so huge. Even in my 10-foot basement, it would not fit. How about Adam's Family Gold? Oh, good one. Yeah. It's sort of a cheat. It's a cheat, but yeah, you're probably right. It's probably Adam's Family Gold. And then before that, Judge Dredd and then teed-off. Teed off. We've got to get Zach a teed off. We've got to get him to play a teed off. God. Well, have any of us picked up new games lately? Yeah. Yeah, Zach has been the buyer. He's so excited. He's already bored of one. He picked up three games in one shot. And sold two. Already? Or no, not all those games. Okay. So what did you get? What did you get? What did you get? picked up Stargate, Surf and Safari, and an OXO. Now, what led you to want to give these games a try? Well, OXO, I saw it out of the INDISC streams. I was like, that looks like it might be my type of game. And then you messaged me like, Zach, this looks like your type of game. Yeah. I was like, okay, I guess I'll find one. And then Surf and Safari, I watched it on the Popper streams. It looked cool. I only ever played it once at Pintastic, though, so I only had a single game on it. But price was good and it seemed like a fun game, so I picked it up and it still seems like a fun game after playing it for a few days. I liked it. I liked it because I never heard the music before. Yeah, I never heard the call-outs in the stream or anything either. It sure has some custom voice work on it, doesn't it? Yeah, some great custom voice work. Amazing custom voice work. Amazing Gottlieb custom voice work. Let's go with the amazing Gottlieb music. It plays Surf and Safari by the Beach Boys, which I wonder if they got... I would assume they had to pay something for that. Oh, yeah, they had to have. I mean, they had to have, but did they? That's a good question. Because I'm listening to it. It's like, this sounds like Surf and Safari. Wait a minute. No, it is Surf and Safari. Well, duh. That's the title of the game, but I didn't think they'd actually use it. And Stargate? That one, a friend of mine back in my childhood, They had one of those in their basement. So that's probably one of my most nostalgic games ever since I never played pinball growing up much. So I've wanted one of those for a while. I finally found one. And you made some modifications to it immediately. Yeah, immediately. Didn even play it before I immediately took out the crap System 3 Gottlieb flippers and put in some Williams mechs And Gets better Good As it would be Are you going to do that with Surf and Safari I don't know. I wouldn't waste the money on it. Oh. Oh. Surf and Safari's awesome. It is like 100 bucks plus to get the mechs for the flippers. Exactly. Which is like, compared to like 30 bucks for a rebuild. I've heard that people are putting some other type of... Coil stop on system three to make the flipper shallower, but I can't actually find information about what that coil stop is. Yeah, I've heard about that also. So if anyone out there has heard of this information, please send it to slamtiltpodcast at gmail.com. That's slamtiltpodcast at gmail.com. Yeah, because obviously the trapping up all day can't happen, because even like when Ron came over to play Servant Safari, and we got to multiball and just trap up and just start taking shots and get your supers really easily, like, I can't say like that. It does seem like a longer coil stop would be the simplest solution. You wouldn't have to do anything else. It would just work. I mean, they'd still be sort of shitty flippers. Yes, they would be. Yes, they are shitty. And also, I don't know, like, when I put them in Stargate, it was a very lucky fit that they all actually fit in the space, because the Williams have a different mounting areas than the Gottliebs do. So it fit fine in Stargate, but it was always like, every single flipper mech was brushing up against other mechanisms. So I don't know if Serpent Safari will they fit. I'd have to buy some more mechs or at least some base plates to find out. That sounds like a big pain. So I'm hoping I can make the System 3s at least livable on that one before going to drastic measures. And OXO, I believe, is not working. No, it had some bad score reel coils, as you found, right? Mm-hmm. and metered them out, and they had no resistance on them at all. So all these score relays were locking on and locking the chimes on, so that felt good. That thing scared me. For those that don't know, OXO has the tic-tac-toe in the middle. And I always wonder, like, man, how do they – because it has Xs and Os in the same square, and they can light – it lights one or the other. And it's like, how do they even do that with the lights? Like, how do they even have the – what do they do? Then we lift the play field up and you look at it, and then you see that relay bank they have. It's a big relay strip across the center of the play field, and I immediately was like, oh, that scared me. 20 relays or something on that thing? Oh, yeah. That's crazy. Oh, that scared me. Yeah, that's definitely, and then there's like a ton of steppers in it too. Like that game is packed. Can't wait to see it working. A new color DMD. For XO? No. Yeah, what? What? For golden eye. I'm going new stuff. Like, you know, new stuff that we've heard this past since last time. Golden eye. So you bought a golden eye color DMD? No, but I think it's pretty cool. It actually makes the game look really modern. Colored Pierce Bronson. That's not a game of, like, I was like, wait, they didn't already have one? Like, I just assumed I would have had one for years at this point, but they keep finding ones that I just assume already exist, and they don't yet, so. Yep. Pierce who? Pierce Bronson. No, he's not Bronson. It's not like Charles Bronson. Who is it? I know it's not that. I think it's Brosnan or Brosnan. Yeah, we got to look that one up. B-R-O-S-N-A-N. Brosnan. Brosnan. I remember from my Remington Steel days. Wow. Yep. He was awesome at Remington Steel. He was better then. Well, you talk about new things. We have Iron Man Vault. Yes, we do. It's back. It's back. Third time. It's a charm. Yay. Yay. Will the LEDs look as bad as they do in the other ones? Probably. Yes. Because I saw, I was watching a stream recently from some tournament, and they were using one of the vaults, the Iron Man Vault Edition, while the LED's in it, and it looked terrible. Mm-hmm. It's terrible. You cannot put LEDs in that thing, at least not for the CPU-controlled lights, because it just looks bad. I remember playing that when it first came out, the vault edition at a show and I could not see the ball. I lost track of the ball almost immediately. Wow. Are they just too bright? Too bright, the pulsing, the way they flash. It's almost like a strobe. You start just losing the ball. That's me. I'm old. Yes, you are. For the younger crowd, like say Zach, it probably wouldn't be a problem. For me, I just lose the ball. There you go. I like it when I can't see things. It's great. Yeah, it's great. Oh, God, it's getting worse. I love me some Game of Thrones jackpots during multiball. Just stop trying for a few seconds. This starts singing Blinded by the Light, right? I sent you a couple links, guys. Did you see these? Okay, yes, Bruce sent us some links. Is this the Would We or Would We Not Buy That? Actually, one would weird. Okay, so this is Would We or Would We Not Buy That? This is Bruce sending random links that he's just discovering right now. Yep. So much for the format. Format is done. Fuck the format. We're just going to talk about stuff. Hope you like it. Whoa, what is this game? Valley Strikes and Spares Bowler. It's a shuffle alley, but it has like a TV screen on the top. Yeah, that's a TV screen on top. I don't think I've ever seen this. I've seen... Well, you've seen everything. Flyers of it, but I've never seen one actually working. Only $1,200. Only $1,200. Okay, do the pins actually come up, or is it just a lighting effect? Fixed. They're fixed, because I'm looking at them. They don't look like they're mechanical, so that's a demerit. That's a major demerit. Does this run on, like, a pinball PCB, or is it some custom crap? I couldn't tell you. 85. I don't... It would have to probably be... Oh, so it's like a video game, then. Yes. I was picturing this being a 90s game for the screen. No, it's 85. Hmm. Hmm. Yeah. No interior shots to see the boards. No, that's what I would love to have seen. It'd be cool if it ran on the Vidiot boards or something. Starting bid is $1,200. Yes, it is. The buy it now price is $1,600. Guess how much the shipping is? $1,000. I know. Well, give them the link to the auction. Oh, how do I? You give them the link. That's your job. Pass it through the speakers. Yeah, there you go. 1-3-3-3-2-7-7-5-7-6. 353. Always in the top of your... I know, but it's in the contract that you say those, not me. Oh, it is. We have a contract now. We have a contract. Wow. We had the contract negotiations. You forgot about that. We did those last year. You're in a two-year deal. Yeah, the problem is I think I got screwed by my fucking lawyer. Too bad. Too bad. You should have had a better lawyer look at it. Ay-yi-yi. All right. So would you buy that? No, but I think it's cool. It's definitely different. Would you get a full ball bowler? Yeah. Why would you have anything else? Why would you? That's true. I don't even have a full ball bowler, though. Let's see. We have, what's this one, Bruce? Actually, it's two. It's two links. Williams Taxi Pinball Spinout Ramp with Ball Retainer. Mm-hmm. And a Williams Taxi Pinball Spinout Ramp with Ball Retainer. Oh, one's red and one's blue. Yes. Wait a minute. Did they come in two different colors? Well, they did them afterwards. The company did it afterwards. So these aren't original Williams. These are like maybe – No, no, no. They're aftermarket. But you can buy eight of them, eight blues or eight reds, a case of them each. Oh. For $400. I thought this was a tie. For $400. I can put this in my eight taxis I have. Exactly. Cool. So that's 50 bucks a piece? Yep. So what are the numbers on those, Bruce? the red is 193 296 161 145 and the blue one is 193 285 146 427 so would you buy that? if I had a guy that like say if Zach had a taxi and you had a taxi and maybe another guy had a taxi like if you had four people you could sell just four maybe Starship Fantasy makes these and sells them singly for $140. Yeah, so. So even just having four people at one of these would already be in your savings and a spare backup too. Yep. And then I have another one here, guys, for you. Ticket number 164064904183. A 1978 Bally Professional Pinball Machine. Because you are so professional. You might think, well, that's professional. What is that? No, that's the name of the game. It's actually called Professional. Oh, I think I've seen one of these. I've seen one of these. Yeah. It has a back glass. It's a mirrored back glass that says Professional with a dude standing there, and his face is just a mirror. So when you're standing in front of the game, you are the professional. Get it? Yes, you are. Is it a ripoff of, like, another Valley game? Oh, this is an 8-ball re-theme. Yes. stretching by the play field. It is exactly. It is an eight-ball rethink. They've got an action shot of the ball moving in one of the pictures. Yeah, and it's blurry as hell. You can also see a nice reflection of the Confederate flag that they have hanging on their ceiling in it, too. Excellent. Oh, you can. So you're dealing with a quality buyer here, folks. Oh. Quality. What y'all saying, boy? That ain't funny. We do find the... Wait a minute. Where are they? Where are they? Okay, yes. They're in Byron, Georgia. They're in Byron, Georgia. Come on down and get your professional here. Oh. Okay. And I sent you another one just now. Okay. What's this one? Ticket number. Hold on. Let me get back to it. Ticket number 1-2-3-8-4-7-9-0-9-2-5-9. It is a hard body lower and upper. NOS field. NLS Play... Wow. Yeah, thank you. I have still never played one of these games. Oh, either Hardbody or BMX? Yep, never seen one. BMX is better. Oh, yeah, definitely. Are the rules different, or is it just the theme? They're different. It's a little different. And Hardbody is a little stripped down. It's missing... Isn't it missing the magnet? It's missing some stuff that's on BMX. Magnet and instead of drop targets, they're stand-ups. Yeah. Hmm. Yeah, so you get the... You missed out. So Hardbody is like the Grand Lizard to Solar Fire. Yes. Yes. Okay. Yeah. Would you not buy this for a turd game? Price isn't bad. Yeah, if you loved Hardbody. It's not bad price. I think it's a very good price, actually. $6.50 for dual play field? Yeah, for both playfields. I think that's not bad. Best Hardbody you could have? Sure. If that was your deal. I mean, who doesn't want the hardest body they can have? Ah, yes. Oh, my. Zach made it funny. Okay, the next one is 113897535753. It's Interflip Dragon NOS Playfield, the famous bear game. Bear. So if your Interflip Playfield, which never wears. I mean, the playfield is like a piece of wood, and then it's got like a reverse printed acrylic cover on it. So it's pretty much impossible for it to wear, right? You're impossible to wear Innerflip is wearing, and you want an NOS playfield. They do discolor. They do discolor. Okay, okay. So it was in the sun for a while. So we have, it is $525. Would you buy that? This is also not a full playfield. It looks like it's just the plastic part. Yes. Oh. And just by the picture on the back, it's been installed previously, because you can see, like, dust areas around where the holes would have been, so this was taken off of a wooden playfield at some point. I don't know if you could really call this NOS. No, I wouldn't call it NOS, but, you know. I mean, if it's perfect, who really cares that much anyway? But, like, it's not really NOS if it's been installed previously. I agree. A few minor scuffs, dings, small in the head of a pin, light scratches. But, you know, if your playfield is discolored and this one looks better, go for it, you know? But I saw it. It's something different. You don't see a lot of pop-up. There was one of these for sale last year, I think from someone, one of the Saratoga people. They only wanted $200 or $300 for it, too. So this is probably a bit high-priced, but if you need one and you can't find one... This is it. Next we have... 254-504-638-724. Or a strikes and spares pinball machine by Bally. I actually don't mind this game. I mean, it's the usual go up top, go up top. Talking of stripped down games. Go up top. How about three pop-upers, a spinner, and nothing else? Yeah. Well, it's got stand-ups that you'll never hit. Come on. Yeah, and it's got pop-upers I'll never shoot for. Rollovers that you probably don't care if you shoot for either. Yep. It's got orbits. You can shoot them. I love orbits. I love going up top. That's a completely new type of gameplay that we've never seen before. Never. Never. And it's... The reserve looks like... Buy it now, price of $1,400. Mm-hmm. The center mushroom bumper is intermittent. It works 50% of the time. It can be easily replaced and is readily available, but not easily enough for me to actually do it before I sell it. Yes. On my overpriced Strikes and Spares. Yes. So I take it you would not buy that? No. Okay. Well, speaking of, since we're on that subject of, well, a Bally, I was thinking the other day, I was playing my Harlem Globetrotters, and I was thinking Harlem Globetrotters actually has more shots than Paragon. One, two, five, four, five. Again, I'm going to go by Zach's theory. I don't care how many shots. I mean shots, ones you'll actually shoot. What do you shoot on Paragon? You shoot the inline drop targets. You shoot the spinner. If it's on the left flipper, you go back up top. That's it. That's three shots. Basically three shots to ever go for. That's three shots to ever go for. Now, on Harlem, you have left spinner. Both spinners. Both spinners. That's three shots. Although they're basically the same exact thing. Yeah, but you still would go for them. Yeah. You have your in-line drop targets, four, and you have your target to the right that closes your gate. And you do want to go for that to close your gate up. That's five shots you would actually shoot. So we can now quantitatively prove that Harlem is a better game than Paragon, right? Well, we can quantitatively prove it has more shots. There's still, I still like Paragon. I do, too. Yeah, I'd rather have a Paragon, too, probably. Yeah. But just putting it out there when you look at, well, Widebody clearly has more shots. Yeah, but it has like a stand-up in the center that you'll never shoot. Some pop-up markers you never shoot? You never shoot. Some drop targets you never shoot? Drop targets you never shoot. It's amazing how badly they make use of the wide-body space in most of the Bally wide-bodies. Oh, well. What's the best Bally wide-body as far as actual things to shoot for? Might be a... It's actually Space Invaders. Yeah, Space Invaders. I have to say. See? That's why it sold so much. the consumers are smarter than we're giving them credit for. No, it was the backbox that sold that game. That's a very good backbox. I played one for the first time recently and I was like, I mean, in the end I just shot the loop all day, but like, well, I wasn't shooting the loop, I was actually trying to figure out how to play the game the way it's meant to be played. I was like, it was actually pretty fun trying to sharpshoot all this stuff from all four flippers. It's too bad that the rules are completely unbalanced. Well, there's a couple more. Well, we have, and for those who wanted some of our old segments back. This was one of the requests. So you're getting it, man. You're getting a lot of it. I'm going to put another one up. Oh my! This one's 223-899- 434- 111. A Trident Pinball Machine. Old Stern. Which this is significant because it's the first one to have the memory targets. Yep. This is the first game ever with memory drop targets. This is also the same one that's been for sale on multiple sites for the past year now. I can tell it's the horrible sound puke LEDs. Yes. The clown puke LEDs. Oh, it's bad. Oh, yeah. I saw that. Okay. That's why I had that pointed out. Oh, look at the back glass. They've been trying to sell this game forever. Yep. And as someone who's actually in the market for a try in a bit, like, oh, and the play field is a lot of wear, too. I know. They put red. I mean, you say that, but look at the lid of play field, Rod, if you think the back glass. Oh, but look at the fact that they put the green in it. Yeah, they got purple. Why do people, purple, green. Why do people like purple and green? I don't get it. Yeah, the Playfield has some nice purple slings, green upper slings, purple drops, purple and green on the same plastic on the upper right, it looks like. You know, when the game looks better off than on, this is a problem. Yeah, that's a problem. But it has full LED lights. Hey, hey, LEDs are great. to last forever. To last, use less energy. I'm trying to use the correct LEDs for the inserts so they definitely don't flicker constantly and give you a seizure. Yeah, that would be. So it's $900. Would you buy that? God. This looks like a $500 Trident to me. Yeah. Considering all the playfields. You can fix LEDs, but that's a bad playfield. All right. Wow, Bruce is piling on with the classic sterns. We have 1-8-4-0-8-9-1-7-7-4-9-0 for a Stern Nugent pinball machine. And this one does not have LEDs. You can't see the play field in the pictures at all. Wow, nice pictures. Glass on, because no need to take that off. Why? There's no need. Why? There's no need. Clearly shows everything. Great shots of the cabinet, though, in nice low lighting. Okay, well, wait a minute. We've got some pictures of the play field. The rubber is busted off of the right flipper. I think my rubber is busted. The description says, all parts are present. This machine needs new rubber, and flipper is not working. Cherry machine is bone dry, includes a new restoration kit. New rubber balls and light bulbs. Not a restoration kit. You bought the on eBay for $10. Okay, we got Didn't bother to take the glass off Or pull the playfield up So he just took a picture inside the cabinet Yes, he did It's pitch black You can see that parts are there Yeah, look at the tilt bob Look at the position Very interesting position there No tilting will occur here No, not at all At least it's still there They have it all the way up like beyond where the ring is. It's better than, on my surface, the part that they glued the Tilt Bob in. Yeah, I have that too. I have that on one of my games. On the Gottlieb, the one at the bar, TX Hector, it's glued in. Yep. But you can buy it now for $1,310. So would you do that? $1,300. What do you guys think? We've never talked about Nugent. What do you think of Nugent? I don't mind it. I don't mind it either, actually. It looks sort of bad, but No. I've never played it. It's build bonus, collect bonus, build bonus, collect bonus. Wait, is this one of the ones with the crap collect bonus that you can't actually shoot, that you just have to fall into by luck? Is this just a magic ripoff? Yeah, this is a magic ripoff, isn't it? I thought you could hit it directly through the loop. You could hit the little left orb thing that comes around. Yeah, the left orb thing does that. It looks like it would just go right past it. No, you can go. I thought you could hit it directly. So it's not like a wildfire? No, no, no, no, no. But it is basic. You build bonus, collect bonus, build bonus, collect bonus, and there's multipliers. You can probably just blow right past the hole. There's like an inch of space between the ball guide on the left orbit and the hole itself. All right, so we need a Nugent. You need to get this Nugent, Bruce, so we can play it. It's local. Yeah, it's only $1,300. It's local. You can go and pick it up right in Hillsdale, New Jersey. All right, next one. Here we go. 1-9-3-2-9-7-5-9-6-3-3-9 You with your ballys. Vintage bally power play pinball machine. No, I'm doing this for a different reason. Oh. Look at the pictures. Yeah, I'm looking at them. Keep on going. Haven't looked at enough yet. It's very red. The backbox is interesting, too. The backbox shot. All right. Maybe I'm missing it here. They got the, like, glow. Like, I don't know if it's even booting, because there's no displays at all. Like, I think only GI lighting is working on this game. You think it's broken? I think it's broken. As is. Power's on. I think it needs service. Yes, I think it needs service, and I still want... Lover kit, et cetera, and when the quarter of the deposit doesn't take the... I don't know much about those machine. It was storage. Hold on. I got to read this as it is. This is good. And, again, I think people have said some of these are screwed up because people use the voice-to-text to put the descriptions in a lot. And then don't. And don't proofread it, but I don't care. Sold as is. One word. Power on, but I think it needs service. The rubber kit, et cetera. And when the quarters are deposit, doesn't take them. I don't know much about those machine. It was storage found, and this is a local pickup only. Got that? Got it. No periods. No periods anywhere. No periods, punctuation, nope, one continuous run on cents. Free local pickup in North Hollywood, California. How much would you pay for this power play? It's in nice condition, cosmetically. Nice condition, yeah. Cosmetically, it actually is in nice condition, but I wouldn't pay $1,800 for it. That's what they're asking for. It's like a $600? Yeah. Maybe. Maybe $800. Yeah, this is a sort of wanted game, right? It is, and the back glass looks good, too. Yep. So I think I did my work this week. Yes, you did. You did. I just sent you a picture, guys. Did you see it? What are you doing to me here? It's fucking funny. My friend sent it to me Yes hey Leave this in You got to leave this in because it fucking funny Hey Tom you fucking suck Okay, that's good. That is fucking really good. That's dedication right there. That is fucking dedication. Yes. What a dick. You're still laughing. You're laughing. I'm laughing about something that's going to be edited out, but it was funny. No, it's not. We're fucking leaving this in. You didn't want it. No one could see what this is. I'm going to post it on a page. Okay, Bruce sent a screenshot of somebody playing some Nintendo game. I don't know what. Let's pretend it's Popeye, for all I know. Yeah, okay. And this person, they got the top five high scores, and when they put their initials in, they put in it because it reads from top to bottom. So the high score initials are HeyTomUFKNSUK. you fucking suck as someone who is not a video game expert with pinball you could do this and like tilt out to get the scores you needed in video games can you just like purposely die and lose fast enough to make sure you don't get any over points if I was going to do this the way he did it I would purposefully you default all the high scores so it's something low then you get just over it and die then you get just over the next one and die you go from 5 to 1 but the funny thing is if you do it at your local arcade And then, hey, Tom, come on over here. Check out my new score. What the fuck? Well, the other thing is, you have to do this quickly and get them over there, because these scorers probably suck on this game and will get beaten quickly. Oh, they do, yeah. So now that we've mentioned something that has nothing to do with pinball. I try to tie it together. I was checking out our website, Bruce, as I do every once in a while, to make sure all the links still work. Yeah. And I went to our Apple page. Ooh. And our? You know, on iTunes. I'm sorry. Apple Podcasts, it's called now. And I figured I'd see if we got any new reviews. Oh, we probably got a terrible, terrible time. Which we did. But I was looking at the sheer number of our reviews. We have a lot of reviews. Let me see. I should have probably counted this before. Let's see. Four, five, six, seven, eight. Eight times three, about 20. 23 reviews total that we have. So I started looking at all the other active pinball podcasts to see how many reviews they have. There is only one active pinball podcast that has more reviews than we do. Wow. So we are the second most polarizing podcast. Or we've been around longer. Yeah, and? I mean, Coast to Coast technically had a couple more, but obviously they're not around anymore. Some of them were like the Eclectic Gamers podcast. They had like five reviews and they're all five stars. However, ours are, again, we went through this before in a previous episode. They use a five-star system at Apple, and either we have four or five stars, or we have one star. So we're either awesome or the worst podcast ever. And I think we already shouted out props to a Dougmar, or Dougmar, I believe is his name. He's on Pinside, too. I assume he uses the same name. He gave us two stars. I'll get an unbiased person here since we have Zach here. I think everything in the statement is true. Far too much inside joking. Yep. References to things and people that 90% of your audience is oblivious to. Yeah, that's also true. Lots of swearing. Definitely true. Low class. Yeah, that's right. I mean, everything he said is absolutely true, Bruce. A person went on Pinside, which he talks about a lot and goes on a lot. Well, I thought you were never on Pinside. I am, barely, just for sales. Oh, okay. Just like products. All right. Well, we got a new review. Yes, we did. Grade school content. Oh, hold on. I wanted to say, go ahead. Start it. It's one star. It's one star from. This must be the most annoying. Yeah, one star. It must be the most annoying podcast I've ever heard. Constant Sulus and Beavis jokes. It's cringeworthy. There are podcasters root canal. Steer clear. Thank you. A podcaster's root canal? Yeah. It's from Tim27. I wonder if that's Tim Sexton. He's getting revenge or something. Maybe. You didn't say it right, though. It actually says, this may be the most annoying podcast I've ever heard. Constant Sulu and Bevis jokes. Yeah, I know. He spelled Bevis wrong. Dumbass. He is a dumbass. It's cringeworthy. Oh, okay. They are a podcast root canal steer clear. Thank you. Thank you. So everything's accurate until the steer clear part, basically. Yeah, pretty much. Yeah. Because guess what? He listened to it. He listened to one episode. I noticed the review was from the same date as our last episode, so he must have just like, oh, I'll try these guys out. Oh, my God. Man, could you picture dropping into Slam Tilt after 120 episodes or whatever, just for no context? There are no context. Who is Zach? What is he about? He didn't even introduce himself. How am I supposed to know who he is? What's his story? What's he about? I have no idea. Zach is a longtime guest, and fuck off. Thank you. Wow, that's very good, Bruce. I don't know why I didn't make TPN. Oh, speaking of that, TPN. TPN, okay. What does TPN stand for, Bruce? The Pinball Network. Oh, they should have had you do the call-out for that. Very good. I'm impressed. Give it an echo on that and you could be all set. Yep, yep. The Pinball Network. Network, network, network. So what's the Pinball Network about, Bruce? It is about all podcast and streaming. They're going to go 24-7. So all those podcasts that ended, they're all coming here. Yeah, and you're going to be censored probably. Well, I would think so. You're going to be. Yeah. You're not going to have some of these guys going, boy, Stern Pinball really sucks this time. This is a bad game. This really blows. Oh, you think people aren't going to be allowed to be honest? Yeah, I don't think so. Really? Yep. I hate to say it. And you know me. I say it. All right. I think it's going to be a little bit like, hey, guys, can you tone it down a little bit? Hey, guys, can you be more PC? Fuck that. Okay. Did you see the latest announcement, though, Bruce? Which one's that? The Off the Record podcast. No. They're going to have a guest podcast with just each episode done by a different person. You can just email them and pitch yourself and be on an episode. Oh, my gosh. It sounds perfect for you. Do it, Bruce. Bruce rants just for an hour. No? No, I know what I can do. What was the guy that used to be on 60 Minutes? Andy Rooney. Yes. Andy Rooney. You know what burns my biscuits? Oh, gosh. Pinball people who freaking LED machines. Okay. You know what grinds my gears? What you think is good. Just picture Bruce trying to be civil for an hour. Oh, fuck no. No, no. It would be a great bit, though. It would. It would, Bruce. You're calling. All you got to do is you got the headset. You can just record yourself. Send it out, man. No, I have to edit. No, you wouldn't have to edit anything. That's the whole point. Bruce Raw on edited. Yes. Okay. The funny thing is someone bought the pinballnetwork.com name and just started linking other podcasts. No, other. There's been at least three or four different podcasts. Right now, I think it goes to, it was going to Macho Man's Pinball for a while, the Macho Pinball podcast. Have you heard any of those? No, I can't. Do you have any idea who it is? Anyone have theories on who it could be? I've only seen the bad Photoshop's. I've heard a couple of them. I like it. It's funny. I think it's the oldest. You still think it's Teolis? Yep Okay Well you know brother You gotta listen to the real podcast here dude I was the real king of the mega powers Not you macho brother I'm the man Hulk Hogan And I'm on the Slam Tilt Podcast dude And he cut his beard He cut his beard Who cut his beard? Hogan No more trademark beard Well they call that the goatee You know the thing It's a goatee brother Yeah It's gone It's gone? It's gone man It's gone? It's gone Oh my god Oh my god No more goat? No more goat. Speaking of goats, has anyone played the new Jurassic Park mode? What's it called? Escape to... It's like the wizard mode, but you can get to it immediately. What's it called? Escape from Nublar or something. Okay, Escape from Nublar. Has anyone played that yet? Nope. Oh. Seen it. What do you think? What do you think of this new trend, it seems, where they put the wizard mode so you can actually just go straight to it? I like it. It's easy. you just finish the game in 10 minutes, you're done. I mean, Twilight Zone did this back in the 90s, right? For the home run? The home run, yes. It seems like a nice feature for people who won't ever see the wizard mode. Yeah. Well, personally, I'm like, I don't want to see it, because there's a 1% chance I might see it someday, and I don't want to get spoiled. Yeah. So I'll get away from that stuff. But it is a cool idea. I think it's a good idea for a lot of people that might never see it. It also makes for tournaments, if just doing only that for a tournament or something, for a high score thing. Also, somebody got a wizard mode this week. Alive. On their stream. Alive? They didn't do it while they were dead? No, they didn't. They said we were alive. Who did it, Bruce? Mr. Indisc himself. Mr. Indisc? I'm forgetting his name right now. I'm brain farting right now. You're forgetting his name. I had it in my head for two, like, waiting for you guys to shut up. He means Carl D'Python Anghelo. Carl D'Python Anghelo, yes. Hi, Carl. Who is doing, he's basically doing this thing where he's getting the wizard modes of these games. He got to Valinor in Lord of the Rings. He got to the wizard mode, what's it called? Run to the Hills. Run to the Hills on Iron Maiden. He might get a Simpsons pinball party there and try to get to that wizard mode. Oh, boy. What will that take, Bruce? Like an hour and a half? Hour and a half, probably. He should get a World Booker Tour next. Oh, God. No. God. I have a bone to pick with him, though. Uh-oh. Mm-hmm. What'd he do? What'd he steal from you? I watched his streams, right? He started putting his IE Pinball logo on the actual camera that's the actual play field, like in the corner. I watched so much of his stream. I have a plasma TV, so guess what happened? It burned in? It burned in! It's a zero-fault, Carl. Your logo was too bright. Time to get a new TV. Yes, he's forced me to get a new TV now. You got the cheap ones now. And I can get an 85-inch for $1,900. 85-inch TV? No. Yes. Yes. Why would I want a TV that huge? Oh, my. Porn hub, here I come. Oh. He's already too big, Ron. Well, Zach doesn't believe in TVs. I have a TV. Yeah, you have a TV. It's right behind my whirlwind. Is it hooked up? Yeah. Does it play? What? Does it play TV instead of, like, videos and that kind of stuff? Is it hooked up to cable? I don't have any service. Yeah, I don't have any service either. Do you have an aerial antenna? No. Okay. I have a laptop and I have some game consoles. So it's a monitor. No, I think it's still a TV. No, it's a monitor. No, it's still a TV, Bruce. It's a monitor. Does he have to watch a movie on it for it not to be a monitor? Yes. Can I read through my laptop, plug into it? It'd still be a monitor because you're extending the monitor. Okay. I plug my NES into it. Then it would be a TV. I've done that, so it's a TV. But most of the time it's a monitor. Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, Bruce. Wait, wait. I'm trying to get the Bruce logic here. So if I play a console game on it, it's a TV. But if I play a computer game on it, it's a monitor. Yes. Okay. I got nothing. Yep. But at least it's a TV. Okay. Mail time. Well, hold on. Hold on, one more thing. Oh, one more thing? On your list. What? Playfields. Oh, yeah, speaking of Dragon. Oh, Playfields? Why don't you tell us, what about Playfields, Bruce? CPR is sold in the past a Meteor Playfield. Everyone was rejoicing. Yay, we have a Meteor Playfield finally, because a lot of them do wear it, including mine at the bar, as Warren. I'd like to meet the person who did the artwork on it because they missed a couple things like oh the color maybe doesn't match right or maybe the registration is a little off or maybe we missed scores that are printed on the play field they actually forgot the printed scores in front of the meteor targets so where the inserts are and has the text above them that says the value. Yep. Should be 6,000 and 2,000, right, for the inner and outer targets? Yes, it is. You've got it exactly. So they're missing completely. Completely gone. And so are all the measurements for the rubbers. That's one of the cool features of Sterns. It is. Hmm. That is interesting. I mean, I could see, like, yeah, colors maybe off or maybe little details. Or even getting rid of the, guess what? You don't need the rubber ring thing. It's extra printing. It might have cost more. That's fine. Well, they're doing digital printing, so it all costs the same. No, that's silkscreen. Why do you think it's silkscreen? That's their last silkscreen one. Supposedly. That's the last one. Well, that's really bad then. Yeah. You can't fix the silkscreens easily. No, you cannot. So they sold all these, and somebody then grabbed one and said, hey, wait a sec. And have we heard from CPR yet? Not yet that I know of. Yeah. but now people are trying to sell them all on on eBay the thing is what can they do refund it take it back they'd have to print more using the digital thing at this point right yeah probably they'd really fuck up bronze I think you go to like crap they'd have to get an accurate file first wouldn't they of what they're actually printing well it probably some texting digitally right I guess so. I mean, I do know one person who has an NOS meteor playfield, but it's in his game, and that would be Scott. But everyone's like, oh, we'll just send you decals or that kind of stuff. I won't want decals on my frigging NOS playfield. Will you re-clear it for me, too? Yeah, exactly. So more to follow. We'll have to find out what CPR does for this, because this is going to hurt, unfortunately. I just won't do anything much. I will say. they can do really well they have to refund it if somebody wants a refund i would say they'd have to go like this like hey anyone's bought playfields in the past you send them an email to every person who's done it and also you have to put a national email on their website saying if you have a current meteor playfield because you don't know if some were sold through that company that uh buys the playfields from them uh what was the one you just mentioned them before they did the ramps that sells the ramps right zach starship fantasy starship fantasy maybe they actually grabbed I haven't sold some, too. So you don't even know. And state, hey, in the next four or five months, if you have a play field from Meteor, either A, you return it and we refund you the money with a receipt. Maybe even with that Starship fantasy data. I don't know if they give you a receipt sometimes. Or if you have proof of owning one, you can exchange it for a new version of it. But the problem is, how do you even let this go out the door? I mean, this isn't as bad as the initial hard tops for high speed. They put 2,000 for the 1,000 bonus value. How do you let that up? At the same time, it's really hard to proof check these because there's just so much art everywhere. But, like, it seems like you should at least, like, have, like, an image comparison tool or something that, like, compares your new art, the original art to, like, check for errors and stuff like that because you're reproducing art with a direct overlay. And another thing that's bad is they actually changed the font on the side, like the advanced. You know, in front of the drop targets, it says advanced rockets. It's too small. Whoever did this artwork and then approved it, both are morons. Because if you look at the advanced, if you go on Pinside, they have a lot of comparison photos. And some guy has his old play field compared to his new one. And if you look at the advanced, it says advanced and score. Rocket value? Yeah, rocket value. On the old one, it's about the same size as the WoW lettering, you know, like the actual thickness of the letters. The WoW is actually bigger. It's like an inch or like three quarters of an inch, while the advanced is like a half inch. If you look at the new play field, it's like paper thin text. It is terrible. This should have never came through at all. I think it's the worst one I've ever seen. they should all be getting refunds, and they need to do this again. Like, guess what? If you have nothing, but it's just not even apples to apples. I would say refunds for anyone who asks for it. No, I think you put it out there because guess what? Somebody might see it later on, like a month or two. After it's already in their game? No, no, not in their game. That would be a hard choice. Like, if you already got this and didn't notice it and did a full play field swap already, are you going to do it again, or are you just going to keep it? Well, keep it. Yeah, you'd probably keep it. Really anal. But, I mean, none of it, it's just not matching. It's really bad. And even the blues are way too blue. I can't really fault color matching. Like, that's always weird. In general, like, people are always complaining about the color matching on all the CPR stuff. And CPR is defensive. The way that colors work and how they fade and stuff and all that. I'm like, okay, I'll buy that. Like, how do you know what the original color was? You know, maybe it was blue and it faded to green. Maybe that green isn't even available exactly anymore. Especially when they're doing the digital printing and all the new stuff, I assume the colors aren't quite going to match. Okay, the Rocket Value thing you were talking about, the font isn't different. It's just thinner. Yeah, a lot thinner. It's the same font, but it's thinner. I don't even know if it's the same font. I really don't think it is. What's different about it? It's just thinner. It's like if you had it, one is bold and the other one is not bold. Do you think that should have skipped through their process? Well, I think it's different than the original. I mean, if the idea is to be as close to the original as possible. Yeah, that's what their tagline is. I would be very upset if I had one of these. I know some people. I think on the specials a bit different, too. Exactly, yeah. It's just not there. I know some people are like, oh, give him a break. Sorry. And we've heard problems with CPR in the past. We have. With the color matching. But this is just total foobar. Would you be happy if you bought one of these, Ron? Since you are a Meteor owner. I wouldn't be as anal, but I would be upset of the missing text. Okay. Zach? I mean, I don't think it would keep me from installing it if I had one, but I would like at least $100 or throw in a free plastic set or something. It doesn't seem like a deal breaker, but it's just, wow, really? Free plastic set, there you go. Although I assume most people bought plastic sets from CPR anyway. That's true. Because they do already sell a package deal on that. And just picture CPR was like, hey, we'll give you $200 off your next CPR playfield order. I got something for you, Bruce. I thought of you when I saw this. This is from a book called All About Pinball. One of the authors is Steve Kirk, so you know it's good, right? Yeah. There is a section that has different pinball terminology. One of the terms is floater. a pinball machine with so little playfield pitch that the ball seems to float or travel in slow motion. I thought you'd get a kick out of that. And this is from 1977. Wow. So they had that term then. Yes, see? So even then they knew games were floaty sometimes. Floaty. So I did not notice they're doing their small batch runs now also at CPR. Yeah, with the digital printing. Yes. Have you seen the selection of games they've done? No, but I'm sure you're going to tell us. I'm going to send you the links so you can follow along also. How's that? Sure. Oh, goody. Well, wouldn't you want to know? I'm sure our listeners love all this visual stimuli. They won't be able to see it. Well, you can go on to our thing and actually talk about it. You can read all the pages if you want, Ron. Yes. So which medium are you sending this? Are you going to text this one? Nope. Oh, you're back to Skype. Okay. Yeah, because Skype, it is under classicplayfields.com. We have Bobby or Firepower. Catacomb? I know. Mystic. So are those the small runs, or how do you tell? These are small runs. If you go and click on some of these, it actually says small run. So if you go under Mystic, temporary or unavailable, short run boutique playfields. There's some oddball titles here. Catacomb is oddball. Who the hell wants that? Of course. Probably the most oddball here. The Sorcerer's back with a purple-pink robe version. Well, the Catacomb one is temporarily unavailable. More being made, so they already sold out. Yep. Elvira and the Party Monsters. No pricing on it. Oh, you have to go and pick your... choose your options on that. Yep, the Catacomb's like $800. Fire. Shadow. I don't think it's Marc Silk Street 2. Yeah, the Shadow. Which is really cool. You don't see, you know. And also, Joker Poker. But at least they're trying some different things. I will give them that. The one for the Catacomb looks pretty right on. The Bobby Orr, you know, that's nice too. That's a short run. That's a legacy rerun, they call it, out of stock. But at least they're, you know, I understand it's a good thing that they're doing. They're making oddballs and that kind of stuff. But I think they need to have a little more quality control if you're going to let these go out the door. And me, I would not put it in my machine. I'd want my money back. Or another one. That's all. The Bruce has spoken. All right, time for the mail ball bag. Mail ball bag. Are you ready? I'm ready. All right, let's see what we got here. We have an email from Shannon, who says, Love the monthly-ish schedule. Seems you both have a renewed energy around the show. Please don't go and join the pinball network. they would muzzle Bruce. Yes. We can't have that. We can't have that. Quick question or two. In the last episode you each discussed your game room evolution over the years Which one to two titles over the years have you missed after selling most or would like to have back I have mine I don't have any. What I've sold, I have not missed. You haven't sold much, have you, though? No, that's true. Me, I've sold a lot. Yeah. So what have you missed, Bruce? I would love to get a World Cup soccer back. I think that's a great game. But you've had like eight of them. I know. I would like to get a Next Generation back. Don't go there. I have one right here, Bruce. You want to buy it? I know. And I actually miss Shadow. I like Shadow. You know, Shadow's a fun game. So there's a couple out there I really would love to get back, especially for the bar. Who wouldn't love a nice next generation at the bar, Zach? I would love to see a nice woke-up soccer at the bar, Bruce. We have one local. Yeah, but that's not at the bar. Well, Zach, you've sold a lot of games. Miss any? The only one I regret selling, really, is Spectrum. Really? Really? Yep. Why? Because it was unique. At the time I sold it, it was because I was out of room. But then my roommate moved out the next year, so I had a whole bunch more room. I was like, well, I didn't dislike the game. I wasn't completely tired of it. Of all the games that I had in my house at the time, it was the one that I liked least, but I still liked it. and I'm probably never going to find another one because they're pretty rare, and the value keeps going up on them. But can't you just hit the top scoop over and over, and it eventually gives you the colors? Not on mine, you couldn't. Did you alter the code? Yes, he did. No, I made the flippers no hold, so you just could never get a shot in easy enough to hit them. And the flippers were so powerful, it bounced out of the scoop half the time. Okay. I tried to do that strategy, and I could not pull it off on my game, so it was okay. Instead, you've got to play it the fun way. so shannon says happy 2020 keep slam tilt rolling slam away slam away then we have an email from um damien of haggis pinball who yeah howdy ron and bruce or at least ron because i'm sure bruce never reads these and you were correct he hadn't read this i hadn't read this copy it's been really busy at the bar. So, basically, he included the press release for the Haggis Pinball playfield demonstration. So, have you seen this? Yes. Have you seen this, Zach? Yep. So, why don't you explain... Actually, I'll read the playfield here. Yeah, go ahead. I'll read the press release. Read it. Yeah, read it. Read the playfield. I'll read the press release. Oh, see, when I do it now, it gets all defensive. You see this? See, I can just edit this out, and I don't care. Bite me. Yeah, we know this. All right. This is a... Don't edit, don't edit, don't edit. All right, here's the press release. As a new playfield manufacturing company less than 18 months old and started in my living room with nothing more than a love for the hobby and a love of a challenge, I have needed to explore and understand countless aspects of pinball machine construction. As part of that journey, Hager's Pinball Design developed, innovated, and reviewed multiple construction methods, including playfields and the limitations with relation to dimpling and pooling. Wanting to address this and ensure that we would not have these problems, we set about designing a new method for playfield manufacturer. Does that sound exciting? The result of this is the new hybrid playfield, comprised of a layer of birch plywood, a layer of specially coated acrylic, and a digitally printed cast substrate that is chemically and mechanically bonded to create a pinball playfield that will not dimple and not pool. So what do you think of that? It's a beat deep root to the punch. We have also run a physical pinball endurance test on our new play field, and as of today, it is over 750 plays and shown no signs of wear. 750,000 plays. Oh, yeah, 750,000. See? See? It proves you've actually read it. I have. See? So what do you think? Did you see? In the video, they showed it. They dropped a pinball from 6 to 10 feet. They hit it with a hammer. They hit it with a bigger hammer. Then they hit it with a sledgehammer. Yeah, they hit it with a sledgehammer. And no marks. You have to see how it plays, but it's a great idea. Congratulations, guys. I assume it would play the same way that a game of a playfield trick or a hardtop would. Yes. It's basically just a full playfield hardtop. Is it Electra? But this is an old thing, Electra. You notice the main playfield in Electra is never worn? That's why. Yes. And the other one, the top one, always wears. Going back further, this is that dragon play field, right? Exactly. But probably with better material. They talked about chemically bonded. Did that mean actually that the plastic is chemically bonded to the woods? Yeah, I think it's one piece. And the plywood itself is not as thick. The idea was to make it combine the same thickness as a regular play field. If you ever wonder why Electra has no pop bumpers, it's because they wouldn't fit because the playfield was like three quarters of an inch thick. They had to like put bushings and shims on all the other mechs to get them to work. For this, though, they're making the same thickness as a regular playfield, so you should be able to put your through playfield components on, and they should fit like the way they normally would. I think they said it was one third plastic, two thirds wood, basically. Yeah. Which hopefully doesn't warp any easier or anything because of that. And we'll see. There's going to be, well, actually Zach's going to get to play this because he's going to TPF. Yeah! And so am I. So we'll be playing some Haggis Pinball. We'll send pictures to Bruce. Yeah, thanks, guys. You're welcome. Own a bar. It's fun. It sounds it, yes. Guess what's coming up in less than a week and a half, kids, boys and girls? I don't know. What's coming up? Pinberg registration. Yeah, we've got to make some kind of... Pact. Pact. You've got to get five people. Well, remember, I have to get ones for me and my dad. So I'm two people. I only need me. So, Zach, you're in with the pack? Maybe, unless I get recruited by some other pack first. No, we're recruiting you now. I've already gotten offers before this, so I have a hot commodity. Okay, we'll remember this. We need a pack. Then we need to get all our information. We need five people. Get everyone's information, i.e., name and IPA number. Yep. I think that's all you need, right? Yep. Yep. And, Ron, I'm pacting with you. Okay. So how does that? I'll send my information to you. You send your information to me. First one to get it, text. No, you just do a messenger thread with the five people. That's what I'm saying. That's what I'm saying, yeah. You better be on a voice call of each other so you can, like, have instant. Exactly. That's what I would say. Because you need to be typing into your form while you're talking to people. Yep. No alt-tapping or anything here. Wow. Okay. So I need to get a group call going. That's just for you and me right now. So it's only us two in the pack since Zach's too good for us. You see that? Well, we need more pack people. Well, technically there'll be three because I'm me and my dad. I know. So we need. Technically four. Technically four. Who else can we get? Four. Are you in our pack or not? I don't know. Ow. This is like two weeks out, Bruce. I don't plan it far ahead. Well, we need to. That's what we should have started doing. I'm just going to laugh when we get there and we find out the rules changed again. It doesn't actually work. Yeah, you can only do one person. Every single person is ready in their group chats with their packs of five people, and then it's just like, oh, yeah, max of one per person. Yeah, that would suck because then Dad would be out. Yeah, that would be screwed. But the funny thing is there is no more – what's that little side thing they had? VIP. Yeah, VIP section is not this year. Yeah, they're not doing that. What they are doing is a bunch of satellite tournaments where you can win. If you win, you get free entry. You get entry into Pinberg. Sanctum is going to have one. Did we ever find out a thing happened to the Sanctum this week? Games are fine. Okay. There was a fire in a building where the Sanctum is in this large warehouse. Industrial complex. Industrial complex. And there was a fire. I'm impressed that thing could even burn. It's like solid concrete, right? Like everywhere. No, a lot of asbestos. There's probably a lot of asbestos in there. There's a fire in the basement that just ended up going up through the smokestack, so it looked way worse than it actually was, and it just ended up being a really bad smell. So, on that one. Games are safe. Games are safe. Good guys. So, that was it for the ball bag, except we have one of the ball bag entries, a new segment. We said we were going to do this, and we are going to do this now. Oh, my God. Oh, my God. I guess Zach will just listen because this involves. Bruce is going to be the bachelor. The one guy on the call that is married is going to be the bachelor. Yes. And this is, and this is, here you go. The Dating Game. Yes. Yes. Did I get the right music? You did get the right music. Because I never watched this. It was before my time. You'll have to edit it, of course. but that was good. No, I'm not editing. That's it. No, that was fucking cheesy. We are not cheesy here. We are not cheesy here? Did you hear that, Zach? Did you hear him just say that? Yeah, I did. Yeah. We're not cheesy. We're just low class. Exactly. We're low class. Low class. Yeah. All right. We're like school on Sunday. No class. So the rules of the game, and I'm going to read these. Thank you to Jim B. for this suggestion. And we're going to go right by his rules here. Ron secretly chews three pinball machines. Done. Bruce doesn't know anything about them. He does not. To Bruce, they are just game one, game two, and game three. Bruce has five questions to ask. They can be anything, but they can only be about one of the games for each question. Example, game one, are you a ballet game? Or is game one a ballet game, but not which game is a ballet game? Get it? After five questions, Bruce must choose which game he's going to take home. I have a question. Yes? In the beginning of the show, have you ever watched the show? Nope. Nope. They actually give a little description of each game, of each person's personality. So they go, like, Bachelorette number one is a blah, blah, blah, you know, a person who loves to. I'll give you one line for each game. Okay, that's all I need. That's it. Okay. Okay, so are you ready? I'm ready, Bob. Because it was Bob Eubank that did it originally. It's the pinball dating game. No, Bob Eubanks was the newlywed game. He also, who did it? I think there was like four people who did this game. Yeah, there was a bunch of different people. I was looking at some YouTube videos. There's all kinds of different hosts of this game. We're going to bring our bachelorette, Bruce. Hi, Bruce. Hi. Hi, Bruce. What do you want to tell our audience about yourself? Hi, ladies. Hi, pinball machines. How you doing? Okay, pervert. All right, so we have our three bachelorettes, our three pinball machines. Pinball number one is really strong. Pinball number two likes to go really fast. Pinball number three really likes it dark. Okay. There's your clues. Bachelorette number two, are you a Steve Ritchie game? No. Okay. Bachelorette number one. Are you a Steve Ritchie game? No. Okay. Wow. Let's go for the same thing. Bachelorette number three. Are you a Steve Ritchie game? No. Okay. Wow. So two questions left. Bachelorette number two Were you made in the 90s? No I think I need more questions We'll give you ten We'll give you ten Okay, good Bachelorette number one So this is your last This would have been your last question Yes Bachelorette number one Are you made in the 90s? Yes Okay Bachelorette number one Are you a Williams game? Yes. Okay. Bachelorette number one. He's really focusing on Bachelorette number one here. I am, because I love her voice. Her voice is just turning me on. Bachelorette number one. Are you a bride? No. Any more questions? I have three more questions, don't I? Mm-hmm. Bachelorette number one. Are you a lawler game? No. Wow. You might want to try some of the other ones. Bachelorette number three. Are you a Williams game? No. Wow. One last question, huh? Then you're going to have to choose which one you're taking home. Bachelorette number two. Are you a Williams game? No. Okay. So I'm going right away with Bachelorette number one. Okay. So you will be taking home. Well, you've got to tell me who the other two are first. Okay, okay. So the Bachelorettes you didn't choose. You didn't choose number two, who likes to go fast. He likes to put it into full throttle mode. Yes, full throttle from Highway Pinball. Okay, good. Got away with that one. She's pretty haggard. bachelorette number three likes it dark she likes half man half horse motorcycle that game is centaur so you didn't pick centaur so i didn't pick either an ugly unicorn or a terrible game from an out of uh company that went to business so i gotta have the best one okay your game what would i say your game was strong your game is Especially strong when it eats its spinach. And that would be Popeye. I got me some olive oil. Congratulations, Bruce. You're taking Popeye home to the Silver Basel home. I get parted out for parts. But I did pick at the best of the game. Oh, no. I think Centaur would have been the best pick. I don't know. You want to bring that home to mom? But I like that. Two kind of shitty games in the one game you actually might want to take home. Yeah, see? I like that. What do you think? I like that a lot. Okay. I like it a lot. I'll have to do one for you now. I'll have to do one for you next time. How's that? Yeah, we'll do that. Next time, I will be the bachelor. It'll be three bachelorettes. Yep. Nice. So thank you, Jim B. We have a new segment. the pinball dating game so thank you see the listeners always have much better ideas than we do we suck we're just so hash luckily we know how to spell Beavis though dumbass fucking people I love when they're critical but then they're wrong okay hey how you doing dick wow we did get one email Well, we did get one email from Don Bonus. Hi, Don. About, I would say, check out Chip Chipperson on YouTube. I love Chip Chipperson. He's comedian Jim Norton's character. Yes, he is. Don, help you guys with music sound bits as well. Dig in the pod as always. Keep up the good work. I'm a big Opie and Anthony fan, so yes, I know Mr. Norton and Chip Chipperson. Chip Chipperson? Okay. Chip Chipperson. I'll have to look that up. I've never heard of that. Oh, my God. He's fucking funny. Have you heard of that, Zach? Do you have any idea who Chip Chipperson is? Nope. He's a creep. Oh, great. So he wants me to be a creep character? A pervy creep, yes. Oh, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. Yes, you got to listen to it, though. He does do it in great context. He does do it in great context. What does that mean? Like, he fits it perfectly where it's not overly creepy, because they had to do it for radio. But you got the EVs, and he's like, you know, sometimes. And it's funny sometimes. Like, you know, you got to listen. Trust me. Okay. repairs anything going on uh wires broken uh i actually repairing more video games lately i've been working on those rushes i've been working with switches which are little mini micro switches for the shifters one game is dropping out red that's my fun but for pinballs They've been pretty luckily knock on wood. Nothing wild. We had a opto issue last night on Adam's family, which we just had to play with the connector. Somebody in the past cut out the wire from the harness, which was really weird, on green, to one of the opto switches. Four opto switches, five opto switches, and a couple switches. The whole row. The whole row was out. So we moved it to the upper to the lower, and it started working again on a WPC. I was family, and we were back up and running. What else, Zach? Anything else I can think of at the bar? I don't think much. Bar's been knock on wood. Pretty good. Yeah, the Sea Witch GI. I assume it's just a connector or something. I have to do all three connectors. They're all burnt. Yeah. And I actually saw one wire is, like, hacked also, so I have to redo everything, which is not going to be that hard. And I got it back up and running when I wiggled it around a little bit. How about you, Zach? I mean, I completely shot Stargate and got it working. There wasn't really much repairs on that, though, because got leaps are pretty reliable. Just had one blown fuse and the drop target bank was loosening and falling out of the playfield, which is nice. I did have a broken drop target on Stargate, Sea Witch and Stargate. I had a broken target on Sea Witch and I had to use repros, unfortunately. Oh. Neither of them are nice, though. I'd much rather have a Williams or a Gottlieb to replace the drop target on. Totally agree, but... is it downwards, and it's still like within two games, it'll end up horizontal again, I have to bend it more. It's weird because we took the spinner out and compared it to the picture like Marco, like a brand new spinner, and it's literally bent the exact same way, but it just doesn't want to work. Were you buying the whole mech, the whole piece though? I'm going to have to order a whole brand new spinner. There you go. Even though it's a bit expensive, but it's something I can think of at this point to do anything to. So I really like getting that. It's a custom unit, and it has a microswitch, but it's not – it's like vertical. The way the microswitch is, it's weird the way it is. It's a fit where it is. Okay, so let's get out of here. Oh, okay. I've got to get a bar to open. Oh, got to get a bar to open. Well, you can also see the Stargate stream. Did you archive that at all, Zach? Yep. It's highlighted, and it's on YouTube. Nice. How do I search for that, Zach? Stargate Williams Flippers probably no if I want to go to your Twitch channel or search for your video on YouTube I mean my Twitch channel is twitch.tv slash Z A C A J and it should be right at the top of that if you want to watch it I would advise watching that because it's probably the only full walkthrough of Stargate I've ever seen on a stream yeah we got to both the wizard modes and stuff and some other things so we showed off all the rules and digital So if you want to see what the hell Stargate's all about, it's pretty much all in that video. So you can decide whether it's a game for you. So you don't have anything else, Bruce? Nope. I don't have anything else? Okay. This has been episode 140 of the Slam Tilt Podcast.
