So before you open up this beautiful box with a beautiful topper in it, we have to get the old topper off the game first. To start that, you're going to go ahead and take the keys out of your coin door. There's going to be some keys on that chain labeled H95. All of our displays at Spooky Pinball are H95 keys. So you're going to take those and go up to your display, put them in, open up the display, We're going to remove the back glass and go about the rest of the process for getting the original topper off the game.

When you're taking the back glass out, you just want to push up and then pull out towards the bottom section there to remove it safely. Okay, pause for a second. Future bug here. This whole step is not a thing anymore. We actually changed this. We determined that running this cable all the way up through the head, through all those D-loops, through all the wires, that sucks. So we changed it so you don't have to do that anymore. There's actually just this little quick connect up in the head now. You're just going to unplug the quick connect. That's it. That's all you have to do instead.

Future me will be back again later to walk you through some other steps that we've actually changed a bit and show off some new features that we've added. You can go ahead and start loosening up the wing nuts inside of the head. You get both of these unscrewed from there and then you can pull this topper just straight off the top of your game.

  • All right, so now we can, of course, go ahead and open our topper box. Make sure it's facing the right way. If you can read all the fonts and the pictures are facing right side up, then you have the box the right way. You don't want to open this thing upside down. So go ahead, get the box open. You're going to be met with a little baggie here called Extra Hardware. In case you already got rid of those wing nuts from the previous topper you going to need this If you didn you can just reuse the wingnuts from the first topper So we gonna go ahead and and remove the foam from the top here and then you going to be met with Mr Beetlesnake himself right there And then our next step is going to be to get the rest of this foam out of the way We're going to do it very gently. You don't want to start ripping and pulling and, you know, tug up on it, and he gets raised up or anything like that. So carefully remove each of the side pieces, and then the back and the front pieces of foam, and then Mr. Beetlesnake will just be kind of sitting in there all by himself. We going to go ahead and undo these cables right here now so that we can run them out through the top of the head of the game These are going to plug into a board up on that topper. So go ahead and pull those out, run them through one at a time, and just get them pushed all the way up through the holes that they are sticking out the top of the game and hanging out the back side.
    4:17
Once we're on the backside here, we're going to grab this 5 and 12 volt harness and we're going to plug it in. Make sure it lines up with those pins and it'll snap all the way down. It should fit on there nice and snug. And the same thing with the Cat5 cable. This one will actually have a loud click once it's all the way in. You can give both of those a little tug to make sure they're not going to come out or have a loose connection of any sort. Now our cables that are going to go inside the head, they're going to be wrapped up really nice with this Velcro piece here. You just... Future bug here again. Me again! So in the original video, this is where we had a really big long section about how to run the RGB cables all the way down through the D-loops and plugged in, but as we showed you earlier, that's no longer a thing. You just have to run the USB cable for the Spooky Speak, but your RGB cable is this nice short little guy right here. All we're going to do with him is just poke it down through the hole in the topper, and it's going to go right back into that quick connect that you unplugged from earlier.
    5:11
Be sure to have those connectors lined up correctly when you plug them in. From here we're going to undo that velcro on the microphone cable, that USB cable on the top of the game. Going to get that all pulled out, poke that through the top of the head in the same hole that you just plugged in that RGB harness through. And then you're going to run this cable down to the computer of the game into the USB port there. So I make sure I get the whole cable pulled through the head like this. And then I go ahead and I will run that around. I tuck it behind the knocker harness over here. You want to make sure you don have this cable hanging in front of the lights in the back box at all Scooby Scooby Halloween Rick and Morty Ultraman Scooby-Doo, Halloween, Rick and Morty, Ultraman. If you are ever going to put your playfield in the service position, make sure you grab that piece of foam from your coin box, put it on your apron, and then make sure it's on there nice and snug and tight so that when you put your playfield up in that position, you don't set the apron or the playfield or anything into the topper and damage it and chip it out and scratch it. Super important. Don't forget it. If for any reason you think your spooky speak is not working, it's very easy to test this. Simply hold the red button down on your coin door, and on the screen you will have a debug menu that will pull up. In the bottom right corner you can see where it says spooky speak. This will show you everything that the microphone is picking up that you're saying, so you can confirm that the microphone is hearing the words coming out of your mouth. To turn this off, all you simply do is hold the red button back down, and it will get rid of the debug screen, and you'll be back to completely normal gameplay.
