first round here we have hannah hatch uh defeated jessica dinardo and she will be facing robin lassonde and emily may has won her first round match against gretchen and emily will be facing elena in the her the second round the top seeds had a buy for the first round and we can see some other match statuses there as far as for quickly if you want to check it by yourself uh the bracket has been posted a number of times to chat so simply scroll back we'll also be pro posting the bracket here in the chat as the as the tournament progresses uh carl has now moved the camera rig i believe to a different game or is it yeah okay in the game of thrones game of thrones gosh just ended it looks like i don't know who was first and who was second well game of thrones is the game of play pinball well or die so uh and and if it's anything like the books or the movie or the tv show you're going to die either way so that's gosh what a great pinball metaphor this game is going to kill you yes this game will in track try to kill you a little bit more frequently than other physical copies of game of thrones and you can see represented in the quite low scores for game of thrones there's a big fat rubber on that post there why to mess with you so anytime the ball feeds down here which it will off of every plunge it will then bounce instead of going safely to your flippers it will bounce typically over we'll watch this it'll bounce over to the slingshot okay so oh wow so still some possibility for control just to control on the left flipper with a different skill move than what you're trying to control in the right flipper oh my goodness enjoy your 30 seconds of warm up to figure out how it's playing now so it's a it looks like it's playing a little bit floaty that would be my initial assessment so one of the very important things is that the casual mode meaning you must play house Zac Stark yes indeed this is casual mode you will not see this in 99 of other game of thrones games really yeah why because i think it's to try to it makes the games play faster because you then don't have any option when you start a mode you and you don't get a choice i don't think to pass i think right as soon as you shoot the center ramp to start your your battle against like right here there's no choice to pass he's now immediately going into greyjoy he's been spotted Zac Stark and you're spotted greyjoy lit at the beginning of your game so it's the same for everybody and uh it definitely you have to try to figure out a different elements of strategy in terms of how to play the game differently than what you're used to in non-casual mode i mean i love the idea of forcing players to play something they're not comfortable with but i feel like this is taking away some of the the strategy decisions that are so important about game of thrones yeah i agree that's a lot a lot of it is for pin golf tomorrow i know that i know that last year's that's how what led to this was everyone had to play the same path to so that it wasn't you know such a disparity between points well look i want to say that i i really i really believe what i did just say the first time though that it's very important to put players in situations they're not comfortable with you know say you know what what do you have to do on this machine well you have to hit the hit me target on jackpot for example you know that's going to be your goal for the game or you know do something you're not comfortable with and people enjoy that sort of stuff i enjoy that sort of stuff you know put me in a situation i'm not comfortable with but this is the state this is the this is the north american championship and this is the women's world championship i'll go walk over to josh and i'll get exactly why he put it in the smoke all right okay i mean roving roving reporter carl d'Python Anghelo uh we're we're going to get some first-hand camera footage from or on our camera footage audio footage from carl dan i'm doing right josh how are you is this happening uh so why is game of thrones in casual mode because it's fun it helps us with the last time that we've used game of thrones it wasn't in casual mode we were having some chattering in the plunger lane that was causing house selection before things started this removes the possibility of that ever happening ever 100 and i love fixes that are a hundred percent solutions and colin and john are nodding in the booth so hell yeah guys i know you love it we love you josh but we don't love it so yeah that is some that is some next level you know tournament directing there where it's it's not so much about how the game plays for scoring or strategy it's because you know you could have the possibility with the shooter lane switch which is the most fickle switch on the entire pinball machine because every single ball it gets used and so because of that you don't want to have one player get locked into playing you know house uh baratheon is their choice and someone else getting to choose martell or tyrell or greyjoy with a significant play advantage whereas uh baratheon does not offer so much of that and so now it's it's guaranteed that nobody will get uh hosed by the by that switch interesting so that that that's being very nice now the feed off of that right orbit it's completely different than what it was earlier so like now it's coming right to the flipper you can drop catch it how nice very nice game of thrones all right this is big this is a ball ball one multiball um this isn't really important the pressure is going to be put on here all right we're looking at the ball the ball one multiball play and the blackwater jackpot is growing and he's shooting the jackpots unfortunately that maldi ball is at an end but i still say it puts a lot of pressure when you step up and you're you're going for it indeed oh boy a lot of points from the greyjoy are doing during that he is up to 230 million points and growing and that's gonna really that's gonna that was a really great choice to start the mode and go into the molly ball and three of the shots are now multiplied at five times so as long as you can keep that running those shots will stay at five times which is so important on this game except time is running out and that's it oh almost got the backhand to go up that uh center ramp it doesn't seem like it's possible in this game or not likely i can't tell if those are lightnings or if those are standard flippers on they're they're standard look out nice up nudge that that was going out and that up nudge prevented it from going out that was a really astute play he has earned himself additional play time on this ball all these scoring here would not have been possible without that nudge yeah jay rocket says in the chat the old tournament director versus tournament player mindset who will win and i guess that's what we were just talking about a little bit winter is coming so one shot's lit and it's gonna be the center blinding flashers are coming and he has his save he is still safe because he earned a lord of light outlaying ball save which you get from completing these drop target banks one time per game depending on settings and he's also oh that was a nice backhand shot give him credit for it come on okay good to know the backhand is not working he's just stoned three times in a row do i have here four four times in a row proved it do i hear five i would say that was four beautiful shots in a row as a matter of fact it was now the important thing is 278 million points that was a little bit of a flipper yeah that is a great but there's a little smile there there there's a little smile he knows it's a good score that's a great way to start this game he's also um three away from the wall completion which will give him an access to another multiball correct which is uh i i would love to be in that situation stepping up all right well i i'm going to go check and see if i can get in the queue for a game because i i believe we're just kind of play as you go as soon as a match is finished i think we we're starting the next round so you've got your competitor needed to do another move when it came back down on the post in order to get out of danger all right so what do you do after you you come back to your ball you've had a great ball won you put up massive points and now you have uh you have a lead you know it's time to just let the balls drain and let it go yeah yeah sure you know just no of course not i mean the correct answer is you now need to start doing something called point pressing you're like i'm ahead so now i'm going to try something maybe a little bit more risky and well let's assume he didn't just drain there the idea is to try a strategy you're saying i i'm going to win a certain percentage of games already with the score i have but now i'm going to do something where i can win a much higher percentage of the game so so it's time to get aggressive right when you're ahead it's not a a time to sit back and say i'm just going to go for little points no you want to go for big points when you're largely ahead yeah i mean he looks like he had stuff set up to do it just he was missing a shot but yeah i mean the important thing is to uh keep your foot on the accelerator i know i'm using a lot of metaphors and but it's so important to keep pushing in pinball to keep push harder and eventually hopefully your you'll be rewarded with the victory because all right so darren is going to try to start his greyjoy here by shooting the center there he goes the greyjoy has started so he now has 30 seconds of time in which to complete this mode and you have to hit go figure the flashing purple shots nice dead bounce to get control let's see if he can and he is out of time wow that was it's a short timer that was that's a much shorter timer than i was used to look out oh i would just call that a fortuitous in lane all right great joe aye no no he lit lannister so he's going to take both which i think is good yes there's no reason to just take one because might as well play everything look out nice good dig but that was another danger that's a second danger he is now on what i would call borrowed time and he knows it all right so he collected one of the baratheon shots and every time he hits one of those stand-up targets he is actually lighting another baratheon shot that'll add to uh the shots available for him to make during the mode so that increases the scoring possibility house baratheon is one of those modes that i love to bring into a multiball because it offers you a large point scoring potential um by missing it it's sort of like playing the thunderstruck a strategy on ac dc exactly which is uh a common uh a lot of players go back to making ac dc references because it's a very common tournament machine yeah and lannister not baratheon for the gold the gold targets yeah that's what i meant the red one we know what you meant as i say during pinball broadcasts anyways you have to know what i meant not what i said which is sometimes much more important right so this was a uh all right here we go perfect stack here this is this is what he needed to do to get back into this game and now he has a real opportunity to do it so you won't have use of the uh martell at a ball but you can get other out of balls in this uh in this multiball and how do you get those carl that's a very good question john i know saving the ball but i don't know at the ball okay you can get an atta ball as a random pop pop bumper feature during the multiball even in tournament mode i believe so [Laughter] my method is to always tell the truth to uh the listener and then bs if i don't know the answer i would never rely on it though that's right no i would never rely on it but but it also factors into the decision i'm making during a multiball sometimes the the bottom playfield on game of thrones gets very crowded during a multiball yeah so putting a ball up into the uh up one of the orbits into the upper lanes is really a good decision it's sort of like uh shooting an orbit on attack from mars for example all right another lock is achieved so he didn't have a a really stunning moldy ball but he gets to go back into these modes again and see what progress he can make so he's got one shot left for greyjoy on the right right that'll finish the mode i would certainly try to finish that off during uh this move uh yeah the wildfire lit too on the center and what's wildfire do it burns things it burns things yes really i don't know help me out carl what's wrong i'm trying to get help from you guys wildfire burns things that's what we're leaving you with and this is expert pinball knowledge passed along by carl and john all right let's see uh keith still has a sizable lead which is good so uh let's see how he decides to press on well if he finishes both of these houses he'll be at hand of the king right and that's a mini wizard mode correct which is also a multiball correct big points oh there there was that feed there was that feed i heard about watch it it went so when it goes all the way around it goes it feeds off into the slingshot that's mean all right collects the extra ball what's the extra ball worth it's not too much i don't believe but i don't know um i think it's not too significant it's not it's not large enough that i'm worried about it all right a joust is going on and all the shots are at five times multiplier so it's important to make a shot to keep this going this is actually that's overcome but when the shots are up that high the points go up really quickly yes so this is the dangerous part with the um okay hannah the king is ready you're not going to backhand it you know better oh boy look out oh good save that dead bounce good beautiful beautiful live shot so hand of the king is starting and you get a bonus based on which houses you've played and i've been rusty enough that i can't remember what the bonuses are but i know that you get a bonus so now that martel has been uh collected he will have an out of ball available at his disposal during this volleyball so you i i would expect he's going to wait until he loses one of these balls and then use that at all wow that was that was a good good game yeah i mean yeah all right you don't get an added ball unless you've selected a house at the beginning by the way i don't believe oh or right unless you're playing greyjoy in which case you're still steal the ability i think you like to play greater a lot don't you yeah well i won't be today that much i'm sure all right well that was a that was the end um i gotta say elliot uh really uh played an excellent game and darren played a good game as well and so ellie's gonna win the match um all right and that'll be the end of that and carl are you going to move us to a we have a new destination 2012 okay something like that well it's 2 000 something yep and this is the le version of the game and so a couple things are different in the le version but the probably the most prominent difference is that a shot to the left um vertical up kicker will actually kick it up into a ramp which returns it to the uh returns it to the player so they can play again so it's much safer than the pro nothing wrong with little safety on that so because sometimes the kickouts out of that left side are very rude now here's something i've always wondered about that there's a motor on that scoop so if you watch it the ball you know it goes falls on the scoop and then it moves the scoop head out of the way to launch it into the up kicker you know to launch it into the little habit trail so yeah so i've always wondered why they didn't program it so it would stay in the same direction sometimes so the ball could divert either direction i wonder if it was a feature that they just never put in but it's definitely if you take a look at the game next time you're up at it there's a diver that the scoop the top of the scoop moves to get out of the way to kick it up john looks puzzled and completely confused i am completely confused i can't tell you i can't tell you why they would do that i can't even i can't even think of why you would do that all right anyways helen gets her uh first win for this match that helen needed that win because she was down 3-0 and that's that's important that's important psychologically and it's also important in staying alive in the match so good luck to helen when the ball gets stuck on top because it diverts itself back into the up kicker on which one sorry on star trek so on this star trek it occasionally will get stuck on top of the diverter and that vertical up kicker so you don't need to actually come out and fix the game it just moves the diverter out of the way and is that possibly why that no that wouldn't be why they would design that in punk says reason steve's ripping hears you okay take a look here it is here it comes it moves there it's gone it's back what oh okay so you're talking about that little silver thing underneath i thought you were talking about the whole vertical upkeep kicker so say this is the hole this is the little scoop you know the ball falls in this way and then this moves out of the way oh that's that's a great artwork it's called mouse hey it's better than i could have done all right so this is the warm-ups just so everybody doesn't get too excited and uh it looks like they are done warming up and now they are playing for real so what strategy do you guys like for this game in this kind of format uh casual no no no sorry this is not game of thrones anymore this is uh it's for real i don't really have a preferred order in here no no no it's based on how i'm feeling the game and how the shots are if i'm you know making shots about i'll go gosh i'd love to have one during a game but i mean uh i think asking for anything else is uh really greedy that was a wonderful yes yes that's what i was going to say oh i'm sorry i was talking about something else while she did that she made a shot and immediately got her uh bonus for the mode the away team um lit on the spinner so the spinner is juiced now and this is a game that you can backhand that spinner from the left flipper to make it a safer shot do you think that's why she uh attempted a post pass there or that's what it looked like at least i think i would have taken a direct shot at that spinner i gotta say that would have been my method of action for that but she it appeared as if she was attempting a post pass to get it to the other flipper i could be wrong all right stepping up karen kaiser karen the 2018 women's world champion well she's currently up to uh two to zero in this uh match maybe she's going for a repeat nothing wrong with that pinball nerds podcast this is not a wide body the next generation is a clean shot on that spinner you can just hold that up or flip her up and you're going to get one or two of those lock lights down all right she gets the gold medal for this mode which is the highest award and this is the final shot and you can tell that because there's one no more timer and you've got a uh chocolate's blinking blue and gold that would be the most valuable shot she could have saved almost a lazarus looks like megan has a little bit of work to do here all right there are no ball saves on these games so megan's trying to short plunge do you agree with that i'm fine with it yeah because um if she doesn't hit a switch and drains out right here like she was trying to get a trap i'm assuming then she could drain and do it again all right this will be megan's first lock i believe and locks aren't hard so you have to hit the three targets on the left-hand side each time ball unlocked looks like finished the mission that was an odd feed out of there for it to kind of lean to the right so you played the games here more often yes sir this is my home arcade right so how are they playing well you haven't played anything really have you uh i i got to play a few games but i pretty much got smoked in my first round match-up but from what i've played during setup the games are playing significantly harder than what uh we expected out here or what i should say i've seen right from what you normally yeah have day-to-day hearing i've never seen a star wars game set up harder all right so interesting it looks like she is kind of setting up for a double command and that's what i was doing the captain's chair just mentioned right now because she can send her a multiplier i think i'm multiball um yeah because of the mode she chose and i would certainly think right now while you got ball save on i'd be ripping for that away team to get those lamps or the uh ramps ready to go you're gonna get double scoring on those ramps from the klingon multiball and the klingon mode klingon battle is done she's just in the multiball now where'd he go at this point i tell you what i would probably try to start a mode and then get into the vengeance multiball so i don't think she started it yet but i'm not sure how many how many hits are remaining on the target she doesn't have any uh photons yeah she just used three it's like she got three and used them right so those those would be these lights this ladder right here in the middle let's see who's up next all right luke and steve which steve i gotta look at the bracket for this one so thanks everyone for and chris basler moves on pete carrie and mark carries um also playing in the women's world championship so she's doing double duty wow that's a lot of pinball it is indeed got our first underdog winner there with david barber looks like so far everyone in the favorites won david has to go against colin who was just commentating on here former pimburg champion and another underdog winner in the mode right here and now he'll get both the lock and the mission done if he can get it in there no matter what the mission's done cause you got the away team started so if this game ends early i'll move over to tri zone because it looks like we have an elimination match coming up um eric versus jay they're both with the three wins great slap save got two dangers for it though better than going down the middle looks like he's certainly trying to get that lock going so he's got the lock on the left scoop right now because he wants it the middle needs to hit the lock targets again right yes sir i would think coming out of this i would probably go right for away team you're going to get it back up top and you're going to get a shot at that lock so when we uh when we get to sorcerer we'll talk about sorcerer um we will show it at some point during the night during the day it's gonna be a long day and there's no one uh let's see we have two matches on sorcerer so maybe i can depending literally just shoots through if you shoot the ramp exactly right through the ramp get you your free 500 points and to the upper flipper so with no multiball carl what do you think in sorcerer and then rip the spinners i don't know what else you're going to do you keep shooting the ramp to to get the it's a 10 000 points i i think we looked at it and it was 500 points no it's more than that is it unless unless i think it's the drop targets are going to pay up there you know what it might only be 500 points because you would get the value for the scoop and you're not going to scoop right so he has spelled sorcerer he has a spinner's lit got one spinner here and you got one spinner here and they're gonna be 2500 a pop every spin will be 2500 and i think the way this game is set up i would probably try to put it on the left flipper and then rip the spinners to try to get my multiplier up on top there you're a bonus multiplier so we've had a brian broyles excuse me joining us on the mic hey what's going on how are you doing brian doing good good good so what brings you out to uh to vegas a little bit of vacation and to uh try to support our local state champion dalton ely what state are you from georgia they're three to three right now waiting on star trek oh boy for everybody at home listening so brian runs the portal pinball arcade sure do it seems like it's been going well for you it has um actually dalton who's here playing in the state championships him and his dad have become our greatest customers they come three and four times a week drive an hour one way to come it's really great and um and to watch dalton come as far as he had you know i play in most of all the competitions with him so it's he's usually kicking me behind all the time now and he's young he's 18 so wow all right will's just going for spinners like like uh like we thought so the multiball was removed from this because it was playing really long last year it's a way to it's really the only thing you can do on this game to reduce ball times i mean you can add the big fat yellow post that's uh you know that's already there they added that for last year's tournament and it must not have been enough i remember they've had the pin golf score set to i think it was 700 000 and there were a lot of ones and twos and pin masters all right this ball three for jay um he's he's got a hill to climb here and really got to light that spinner and do exactly what will was doing there's not much other uh none other strategy didn't really go here i don't believe this is a game that jay's pretty good at i got to play him on saturday in one of our local tournaments here and it came down to sorcerer with a one ball playoff and he put up about two million points in one ball right but that's with the multiball right that's not the ball as a multiplier because that's the other downside to not having the multiball is you can't get the 5x multiplier so you've got to grind away as if it wasn't grindy enough before it's really a grind up this is a big time chopwood game i'm sitting here listening to you guys and trying to think how would i approach that i mean yeah all right uh there's not another match in sorcerer so i get to move the camera again enjoy yourself again for those just joining us this is the ifpa north american pinball championship concurrently running with the ifpa women's world championship we are in fabulous las vegas nevada the Carl Weathers's great the pinball action is intense how long have you been in town i have lived in vegas since 2012. nice came out here for work and stayed i like it very much and i've been frequenting the arcade here since about 2014 i guess nice me and my wife love vegas got married here come back often i came back in 2015 when i won the state championships i think i played a tournament at flipper spiel when it was at the other location yep yeah last year's tournament was at the old location and we've had a few people here that were in last year's tournament and this year's tournament and it's like wow everything looks kind of different it's a different place it was quite a drive for us to get to the old location i'll tell you what and it was chopped up it's really weird though it was yeah yeah they had we had a small space up front at the old location and a big space in the back and here uh this is two suites and they basically knocked the wall out in between the two suites to make one big open space and i certainly have to second the san diego pinball scene every time i go to san diego i try to get into a tournament down there it's pretty great looking to see where carl's going maybe time zone maybe afm remake x-men maybe x-men have you had a chance to see that afm remake over there oh it is beautiful i think it had uh four plays when it when we got it in here yesterday oh so it is brand new yeah and that topper is is pretty amazing it's definitely on the radar for our place we've got medieval madness but we definitely want to get attacked by mars eventually so the rub i gotta say between medieval madness and afm as it feels like the same game right so it's like if you're going to choose one i would certainly want to have one in my collection but what i want to have both you know same voices same kind of fan layout same you know i either got a castle or ship in the middle but it's funny some of the old pinball people relate to one more than the other you know so people come into the business and they go hey do you have this game you know of course everybody wants their favorite game to be there and i think it's a lot of what what did you get to play first in the 90s right you know what do you have good memories for mine was always t2 adam's family t2 was the first game i ever bought because of the memories i had on it you know i think if i was to pick between afm and medieval madness i might pick afm i agree too i like the medieval we have and of course tons of people come and play it but i still i you know i want the attack from mars that's the other great thing about opening an arcade and pinball especially when no other places around you because if people google pinball in my area that's it i come up so people call me all the time yep and this guy wasn't even a pinball guy that had this medieval madness really no it wasn't a pinball wow just had a nice little arcade in his basement for his grandkids and him to play on and stuff and he was thinning some of those out and just you have an original yes wow and it was unbelievably kept shaped i i can imagine if it's home use only in somebody's basement that's gonna be a great game i've taken it to the house now it's been in the arcade for almost nine months it needs some shop love and put some cliffies on it like that protect it attack for more as it is the remake so as we were saying carl before you got back this game was literally brand new when it came in on wednesday it had four plays on it wednesday yeah wow so adam uh knows a guy who knows a guy that knows a guy that had it sitting at his work and was like hey if you need it for the tournament bring it down nice so very gracious all right let me switch order here i'll tell you what this is a great game and that color dnd really looks good the big double sized one you know it almost makes the game feel lighter um there's another place in atlanta it's got one of these on location and i was like man this almost feels like a wide body i think it's because of that wide dmd yeah and the mirror blades just give it this huge feel so carl talk us through the psychology of you know you're coming in here you're playing to win and you get a bad ball one you just gotta shrug it off right yeah there's nothing else you can do just just you can play you've got a two ball game yep it happens to everyone all right it's a very basic strategy here on attack from ours for anyone in this in the uh chat that hasn't or is new to pinball so you are um there's two two main strategies one is to shoot the i can't reach that screen up there one shoot the lock shot which is here to light your locks and then shoot it three more times are the locks on hard carl i would assume they're on hard which means you have to shoot the lock shot once for each light so six shots six shots to light that the other strategy is to go to Total Nuclear Annihilation which is to shoot each of the four shots the two orbits and the two ramps yeah you can highlight them um three times each other points are at the saucer up the middle you shoot the uh there's a motorized three bank of targets he just hit the third target there to lower the bank and now he can shoot the saucer for decent points do you like that shot no no a little dangerous it's very dangerous i in tournament i rarely ever shoot for it yeah i find i finish games not even completing the second saucer i feel only comfortable shooting for it when you got multiball going and that saucer is available yeah this is jason wilson if i'm not mistaken he owns the arcades in tennessee game galaxy if you've ever been in that around nashville and stuff is a huge arcade i think he has two actually maybe three but i know he has two i think let's see and he says uh he's been playing off and on since 1989 but he hasn't taken pinball's tournament seriously until little less than a year ago so he's relatively new to the competitive team yeah i would say i'm about in the same boat he is yeah so for each uh for each round the game selection for the initial when they first start up uh the higher seed gets the choice of game out of the 15 games here and then for each subsequent game the loser chooses the game and it's the best of seven so uh once someone has four wins the match is over that person advances single elimination so then the other person's out of the tournament they could do for right they could they could choose position you are correct brian they have a choice of game or position how often do you see position carl not that often no no especially with the a larger game selection you'll see position more when you have a limited range of games left to select for some reason stone is a guy who would go first really yes eric stone would do it all right he said he likes to put up a big score and intimidate him but then why not select the game because most likely you're going first yeah all right so locks are not on hard so it's only four shots for your initial bolted ball and the lock shots are you need a little bit less momentum to make the lock as opposed to getting the lock lit which right the full ramp all the way around because the lock actually falls into a scoop right here instead of going all the way on around on the ramp so i'm assuming the sorcerer lock thing was just for block stealing was that the reason no it was for game time really yeah because that game played really long last year i mean i can still play long right i mean relative to this but compared to you know right just because you're always only two shots away from a multiball in sorcerers right you're just multi-balling all day long yeah looks like he has the martians lit at the scoop there so you light the martians by shooting the you can't really see much on the camera but there's there's targets m-a-r-t-i-a-n that feels martian you go in the scoop and start the martian attack which you have to shoot these four sets of targets to start a two ball multiball and you can get a martian bomb i believe by spelling martian again without starting the mode right right then you use the launch ball button to use that bomb strong ball two or as i was strong ball three got the pressure on all right so dan he's gonna he should be focusing on just shooting this lock shot three times that's all he needs to start that multiball he's going he went for it but unfortunately if you don't find that shot it's dangerous it's dangerous all right so that ends that match they will be three and three on to their final game wow all right up next on attack from mars is robin versus hannah the games near afm are x-men on one side and time zone on the other oh on the right of attack from mars the time zone yep and then that's what stars and abracadabra correct it could be stars time zone abra okay but it's basically the em lineup over there oh there we go okay looks like they're playing for real now no no no not yet yeah i decided one player just a round one or a round two game this is uh a second round game so robin was the top seed for this tournament um hannah's coming in the 17th and they are two and one carl you drove out right i drove yeah how long hello uh a little over four hours from my office yeah it's not too bad not horrible it's got the beautiful scenery that drive does carl get to see joshua trees and dirt [Laughter] sure i've done it so many times it's uh well this much gear after you know i figured you had to drive it up yeah it's less gear than last year that's all that matters yeah last year was insane bringing you know you had so many cameras here 30 cameras last year all set up and now you're down to what down to just the the three for the wireless rig and then a couple ancillary cameras five six seven oh it's so much nicer yeah i've got to build one of those i think that's a good way for us to stream pretty easy at the shop you know just move that thing around boom boom boom that's actually a great idea i just have to make it a little smaller and make it where we can actually expand it in the middle you'll need to uh patent that carl yeah okay start giving the design out to everybody it you want to build it build it there's a parts list over on tilt forms for it for the current one i'm working on another one that's a little more portable wow oh man two houseballs two ball game oh so you're already revamping that yeah i i need i want something i can carry on an airplane or should do a check pack check luggage um so you need to be so i've got about half the yeah half the weight of this one because this one's a little over 50 pounds so when i send it out to free play florida i had i had to ship it out oh my gosh that's that's that's not oh there's another one here we go wow dangerous yeah so it's like that half shot oh nice seeing the way that feeds back out carl i'm kind of glad that they didn't set it to hard for locks yeah yeah indeed so i think hannah's making an an interesting play here by going for saucers now she's she's having trouble with the other shots all the nice lock shot there but just to get some points on the board with with this game being ball two already robin doesn't really have anything done uh a single saucer completion could be could win the game potentially and it puts a lot of pressure back onto robin to know that you know you have to get x points to even stay in the match and hannah gets a ball three it's a big psychological advantage i think i can't remember who told me a long time ago but i used to have a habit of standing behind the opponent and watching him then you feel like you've got to match the jackpot now you've got a match and so your stress levels just keep rising and rising and uh a good player at papa knows killing me i can't remember what it's been a long time but they're just like walk away bro you gotta stand there and watch it just come back and play your ball that's it you know don't stress yourself out for five and five minutes or three minutes watching somebody play their ball i mean i want to watch just to see what the bounces are in the game yeah that's that's why i like to watch other people not necessarily how they're scoring what they're doing this is a second that saucer fast to be fair though carl you're a you're a jaded veteran to this oh all right so robin um i'm thinking she's going to take a super skill shot for the left ramp and then try for two right orbits to uh get into total particular annihilation i don't know how well just irregular um i don't know how well this game loop passes or not because it's one of the remakes oh oh and that was a rough drain all right we'll watch one more game on attack and then i'll move it our next match is john versus nick john was just here commentating earlier all right hannah taking a little extra time here to uh nothing wrong with this to learn how to play game you know play the game a bit more get used to the bounces you may have to come back to it later on in the day play as much as you can when you can so it looks like for sure with this being a remake there was no chance of backhanding that lock shot because often i like to you know cradle up on the left and almost wow i can't draw a straight line save the life save my life there you can backhand that lock shot but on these remakes i can't seem to do that with how the flippers are oriented or just the mechs in general i don't know if either you've had that experience or not i um have noticed playing the remakes that the game feels different but on this kind of a game oh thankfully it doesn't matter yeah i don't have a lot of time on one so i can't you know go by what you read sometimes yeah but i think that's pretty much been disproved as far as the latency and the flip and all that right so i don't know all right so uh john uh so we did do a little player survey for these uh for everyone they were supposed to submit a photo and then ask a couple questions so one of them was the what players feel their best achievement was their greatest achievement in pinball john's here is the walking dead world champion really what does that mean i believe there was a uh a competition for a walking dead where you could uh record at home record your own game and submit it and apparently he is the winner of that wow who was verified was this twin galaxy it was probably trying to exist my guess yeah i think i remember them doing that because they basically showed you had to show like the tilt bob and all kind of everything had to be set in certain yeah you could submit the score you had to even set the camera either in one take like poured everything and then put the camera in the background so you could see it i almost thought about doing that because i had a walking dead but there was no reason what was oh it's 30 seconds there we go okay so nick is the florida winner taking down um the palmers huh i don't know how that went yeah i didn't either that's one thing i love about this tournament is seeing uh new faces there's always new faces every year it's it's incredible that's that's one fantastic thing about this whole championship series i know every year we've sent somebody different so someone just needs to take out becker because becker's won for the last five years his uh really yeah wow that's every year right every year yeah he has won every single one does he ho small at his house [Laughter] see look out i mean i would have flipped right when jobs looked there to shoot the lock shot it seemed like the perfect timing but it's so early on these flippers for these remakes yep that was too early but he's adjusting i mean from watching this game it looks like the best way is somehow to get a cradle on that flipper and learn what the shot is there's just no [Music] it's so hard to do on the fly it is have you seen anybody successfully post passing to try to get the cradle kept i haven't i wouldn't try post-pass in general on a on attack yeah surely it'd be left ramp and then try and bump it over if you can says the veteran who is confident in shooting yeah i'm pretty confident my post back or the dead bounce right here right like that yeah there we go exactly exactly but yeah i almost seem late he's trying all right there it is there's not quite enough momentum to bump it over nick's making a doing a good job with it though that was nice oh here we go nice he delayed his uh flip for the bump just to give it a little extra momentum all right five shots lit for 60 million starts they go up by 10 million each shot once all five are hit you light the super jackpot for 500 right 500 first one and then adds 250 million for each subsequent uh super jackpot and nick just tearing it up here with four out of five right now and that super jackpot uh moves around the play field right it's a roving shot and there's no timer on it unless you're down single ball play there's a kind of a grace period it starts on the left and bang immediately he gets the super jackpot excellent 250. right starts to 250 and then goes up to the 500 and each standard jackpot is now a hundred and ten minimum it keeps going up 10 million i forget what the cap is exactly so you're thinking right back into multiple again if i can find that lock shot yeah yeah it's multiple all day for for me at least i think same with there i'm wondering if dalton is the youngest player here all right that's josh i don't know don't even think about that oh that's still yeah a little too much there all right make sure you let that settle for a little oh nice good patience there at least great catch i would think if you're nick the strategy here is to just keep the pressure on of course get the foot on the gas yep oh he tried to post fast see that's why you don't post passing postpone the geometry isn't there for it so i think john is going to be looking for a multiball there it is one more shot there it is perfect uh slide past there one two three nice up and over where's that up and under gotta love when the game's nice enough to keep it in the pops for you while you're playing oh so even here carl you're going for multiball or you think no you know you're like all or nothing right just gotta go for the ships well if i'm not finding the shots yeah then yeah i'd be going for the Total Nuclear Annihilation i would not be going for saucers no no nice i want to have some speed there you go nice keeping it on yeah just on the flies so hard the exact example of why i don't shoot sausage all right that'll end that match let me uh let me go move the camera somewhere else and uh take a look i'll super skill shot to hit it and try to not seen yet well last year at the nationals and pin masters this game became just sing chips as much as you can start multiball shoot the right ramp to get your letters and uh it's gone and then just kind of stack them as much as you can and then 55 million all right and then she has uh another sink ship ready to go so she's gonna be able to plunge right into a sink ship swim swim swim yeah it must have been uh stars in time zone or oh yep yeah stars and x-men on either side there she's got her lock little all right so to start the two ball multiball she can uh wow that's a fast kick out what do i remember um that's fast both balls on the left again and then uh you'll have a three ball and now she's at a multiball so it's uh what'd you do at this point i mean i'm going back into walk and you get locked from the inland letters l o c k all right you can move those around with the uh the flippers yeah there's lame change and i and and on this game in particular the best shot to get your lock going is going to be the whirlpool up and it gives you right down right you can also get a letter by shooting the lock shot itself correct so she is going to plunge and have a shot for 30 million on the ship and i also find that the whirlpool on this ship or on this game is the best way to spell sink ship i like to put one ball on the lock on the two ball and then just smash the whirlpool she's got lock lit she's in a two ball multiball now well i was gonna say she needs to get the lock going get some lighter spell because the only way she's catching is with sink ship and she got a bad beat there not the left out lane all right chat room i tried to boost the audio levels but let me know if that's better or not check these mics are so sensitive if i turn them up anymore it picks up everything in the room right and sometimes you don't want to pick up everything in the room right exactly you pick up every conversation that's around here that people didn't know they were stern star wars as his favorite game i can't disagree with that uh with that choice carl i'm i'll stay quiet right now carlos says say his greatest achievement in pinball is making it to super payday multiball in roadshow in just four minutes and 15 seconds that's uh quite an achievement actually and robbie is uh i'm proud to be here i would wonder if that's what the glass honor the glass off yeah exactly 4 15. i mean can you even get time at the most even that fast was he cleaning the play field when it happened oh he's got the sneak attack damn you get the shot and it goes halfway up the ramp and it doesn't quite go around it comes back down and you get a million points on that sneak attack and a drain apparently and a drain yeah unfortunately this is a a game that you can kind of uh no pun intended game the system on under punch you can come up and you can hit your skill shot and then let it drain and then you're gonna get your you know that'll give you a ball save if it's not in uh tournament mode here and then you go right into double broadside gotcha well dalton lost his match so he went all seven games but didn't do it still a huge achievement that's he just started playing pinball at our place a year ago so that's pretty great you made it here yeah that's nice beat all of us me scott chris didn't eric go to yours also yeah he beat stone 4-0 nice which was super surprising looks like carlos has got that uh whirlpool dialed in had it as i was commentating jinx um yeah it's the most important shot of this game for sure at least this specific black tell you what it's great to see young kids getting into pinball absolutely all right we have a lock ready to go and he shoots the lock all right so he's gonna try and shoot both balls back into that lock shot to start a three-volt multiball gonna try and cradle up and shoot the right ramp i'm assuming that's what he's gonna do yep and just build those sink ship letters unfortunately it's not gonna happen this time i think you got it later yep and that uh right ramp certainly gives you key motive points so he's at a million times every time he hits that whirlpool shot so i'm not seeing much action on the the games that we haven't covered yet four queens barracura time zone abracadabra are many people waiting to play this now we'll see on the moderns i'm seeing the queues just gotta lock lit again and yeah it's not often you're gonna see people coming and choosing the ems i would say unless it's bob matthews or somebody somebody who's really comfortable on the the way that how different the games okay there's got one ball locked there and two balls locked using the three ball lock now oh there we go can he get a cradle separation here to i would say he's in the perfect scenario right now two balls on the right shoot the whole pool over and over came off the ramp again but it still gave you a letter wow uh i think he could have uh not lost his uh i've broken that i think that was a little fortuitous that he kept everything cradled up there i think every letter here is what two million because it's the second round to sing ship yep and then it's three million four million nice drop catch there to get that ball under control he has at least two ships ready to go nice wow this fantastic post pass wow while the other ball was out of control to get them both under control oh all right yeah it's still an excellent uh multiball i'd say and he's queued up to what got three ships ready to go three or two and a half two and seven eighths let's just find that shot yes i think uh
