John so it is now kind of combined with a video game store that does Magic the Gathering tournaments and other interesting stuff here at night so one-stop nerd shop in the new location it's been here for a year so just after these tournaments last year is when they moved to the new spot I know if I was local this would be the place keeping me away from the tables tables away from the tables yeah a different kind of table here we go this is the finals the final two women standing and the Women's World Championship it started with 24 we are down to two and we're playing on Stern Star Trek the out lane post the in lane Outland post dividers have been had the rubbers removed so it plays a little bit tougher than usual the kick back is on extra hard so if you consume it it will be very difficult to relight yep and other than and also the multi ball ball save timers are very short nice save there picks up a danger and Kerri was doing something that I absolutely love as a go-to on Star Trek hitting the warp ramp and then holding that flipper up as a means to get some LOC progress and not take extra dangerous on the fly warp shots she glances into a lock target there to like both her locks her first two locks so one of the center which she just claimed she'll have another one on the left-hand side right there and then she has to complete that target Bank one more time to light her third lock for Klingon multi ball which is a good way to get a feel for the game find your shots and if you can prolong and get to the super and the double super get some really good points and that was a both lock - and a new mode start so what do you and what would you like to okay she's going prime directive so she's made herself eligible for a three in a row in the next mode if she chooses and prime directive was also a pretty good one to stack with her multi ball she gets her locks quickly she only needs one target that's flashing to lighter third block it's not that a way to Emma right and this is one of the easier ones to get a gold medal and it's very good value and since she's going to be shooting it up the left orbit probably to try to go for that lock or the right orbit for that matter just picking out points getting towards those medals and prepping this lock shot yeah definitely for everyone who's still asking about you know different games that were showing this is the absolute finals for the Women's World Championship so we have had women come from all over the world to play this top 16 in the main IFPI rankings and then eight wild card players from the women's whopper rankings so this is the last round for this so we're going to see this to the end and after this is complete we will be moving over to the North American nationals so we're going to stick with Kerry and Maureen it's a best-of-seven

    so it says here on Kerry's profile that her favorite game is the one she's playing so she really likes during Star Trek she's one of them oh okay she won it in this Bank I'd probably be picking Star Trek as my first go to as well it looks like it's letting you play it yeah this this game definitely lets you play more so than some of the other modern games in this Bank you know Star Wars is brutal the game of Thrones is set up brutal iron Lee and it's always brutal okay the AFM is playing tough because it tilts from incredibly tight x-men is playing tough so yeah this is a good choice too if you have confidence in your your skills in a modern you're familiar with the game so you understand the rules and what to do this is a great choice so let's see if she takes her shot at the final light Locke target here or perhaps the warp ramp to feed that sorry yet so to say took a shop and missed it and now she has her destroy the drill which she needs to shoot one shot here that's blinking and then she can unfortunately she will not get a chance to do like away team on it but little off before the train and Star Trek has consistently had the longest queue of any of the games all day and I think it is because it's playing so consistently and people really kind of know what to expect when they're coming on to it it's been holding up really well all day right there's nothing that's a huge surprise that's coming at you with this one now I can't actually remember that row on the far left there that she was making progress towards three in a row which super ability is that when you can pick that table okay so if she can get that multi ball in ball three she'll likely complete the mode and have super pops running which the multi ball is still going can be really big so marinas playing Nero right now which has most everything lit now lot of players will actually try to avoid starting the Galactic away team in this mode because it's an extending it to shoot those drop the the stainless harder to death unfortunately she died that she looked like she was maybe going for a ramp shot there and unfortunately the right out laying claim another victim well this is anybody's game with one ball left and Kerry has the advantage here both some points and set up she's one lock away from the multi ball dr. John you can't blame that on us by us saying the game played well Mike well when we say when we say play well I it's probably let play let him get the longest ball time overall compared to the others right they're all tough they're all gonna be tough and there's no major modifications like you know no locks on the sorcerer or no upper gate on Bear Cora or the weird feed on Game of Thrones there's nothing that they've done to Star Trek that's terribly surprising all right all right let's see if the fourth time's the charm for that Center shot today all right Klingon multi ball the rule is to cling on each jackpot is lit twice and you can get your super buy what is it the eighth jackpot we got the disco ball going it's got the laser light show in this le and yep she's gonna be she also still has her destroy the drill which she could if she can coordinate to shoot underneath that upper flipper could get a glancing away team for some good value on the left orbit spinners yep but that's a difficult a bottle off with the multi ball going now four balls in play right ideally a lot of times you don't necessarily want to use that add a ball right away but you if you just glanced into it and there's nothing really to do yeah well I noticed that the its on hard settings the ball save is shortened for multi ball so she's already done the two balls she gets to that kickback so she's still alive nice power in Lane take that one you can get it so pretty much all her jackpots are still lit and she's going to the left side that also completes her destroyed the drill mode right now she has super fun super fun with this multi ball when super is lit you can double the value that by cohn going on before you collect the super so six million in change as a base can be as high as 12 that's correct nice nudge there only took one danger so I forget it what's the number before you get to super she's got one more left to light super and now super is lit and she calm mode for 12 and a half very nice nice work nails another jackpot whoo beautiful save and she has dangers here so that was that was great it's a nice touch on these modern games that have good flow where it rewards the player for playing on the fly and shooting their shots in combo and Star Trek's turn is no different so she's up to thirty six and a half million and now essentially she's probably gonna want to start another mode there it is so what do you go for here Jessica I would save Nero for less so I would continue kind of the way that she's going yeah this modes a low value but easy to beat yeah space jump you can take out with essentially two shots actually well three sorry one shot here galactic away team and then one shot the middle you can also play it out and because she's on her fourth mode the mode values go up with each successive mode so she's getting a half an endpoint remote shot whereas if you played space jump on ball one you'd be getting only about 120 550 based value

    she's opting to not go for a way team but just take the points on the table with the lid that added more time unfortunately in that added in out lane so letting down a great score roughly 50 million points for Kerry in Game one and the good news for Marine is that you're never really out of it you can just need one good ball in these modern games and so let's see if she can put it together we've seen Maureen put up some amazing amazing scores and she's had some great comebacks she's just a stellar player so anything is possible between these two yeah and she went for neuro two so that second level modes are more valuable than the first level modes you will in this stage of the game it's not a bad choice because the trying to complete Kobayashi are all six modes of the first level is gonna be a difficult task and only one ball to play so getting those mode shots are good and she has a lock lit up the middle okay and she got vengeance ready with the missiles and with this mode running Oh nice way with the upper flipper that's not how she was intending it but she'll take it and this is a good opportunity for here with this valuable mode running for her to make a comeback so she got the Atta ball got the ed wall before releasing the mention shot you know so the regular multi ball hasn't even started yet she added a ball she still needs to nail that before the timer runs out to get that ball out and I think that did it that did that's good no one dangerous okay so the Nero two-mode shots are actually the preferred thing to be shooting for here not the Vengeance because the Nero two shots are much more valuable but with that being said if she can get to the end and combo it for two ball just crawled over the post thirteen million so the ones that are flashing purple and green are more valuable in this mode so her left scoop and right rim far more valuable right now taking a breath getting control that left scoops been giving people trouble today yep oh all right just like to have that one back but it's only game one so still plenty of pinball to be played now for Marines we have you play with her frame quite frequently Jessica yep Marines a good friend of mine she's up in Seattle so it's a nice easy you know commute between the two so I'll go up and play in Seattle or she'll come down and play in Portland so we see each other quite frequently and you know we're staying together here in Vegas so all right is she is an amazing player I always marvel at her kind of control and her ability to think ahead towards bigger scoring opportunities so like guardians of the galaxy she blows up because she knows exactly what progression she wants to move through though on the different modes and when she wants those different shots which is not something I'm capable of it also it's really cool to see her do it those monster games yep it's got so much going on though it's really coming along yeah where's Lee what does she listen to in her headphones she doesn't listen to anything okay silent noise walking yep that's cool I actually want to try that out because music throws me off but having the headphones to kind of cancel out the background noise goes a long way the chatter for sure yes it's it goes a long way towards deadening that sound so she sometimes listens to music when she's playing but right now she's not listening to anything and then you can just like joke around with people and tell them you're listening to all kinds of bizarre things yeah it looks like Iron Man has been selected again we get to watch Iron Man

    Thanks Carl is still helping keep the stream running while he's taking a nice little well-deserved break after doing all this all day yeah so for anyone who's just joining us we are at flippers field in Las Vegas for the Women's World Championship it's running concurrently with the North American national championship we are watching the women's finals right now so we've got Maureen and Kerry Kerry is up one game to know how do we change over time yep all right we're going to Ironman beautiful yeah I have to come visit Portland that's one of the be sad and vignette well show you around yeah absolutely as the the Portland pin Ross little thing that pin brawl is still a giant bracket of a tournament yes yeah still exists what time of year does that take place that's a great 8 April maybe I don't so coming up soon look at my flight options what is it but it's something that's already sold out it's something that's sold out there's a wait list for it I don't know what that that looks like I haven't been playing a lot of competitive pinball so it's not something that was on my radar well big this year so I around with Josh one of the things with the dollar fee now which funded part of the the national championship is that I have to send Josh so much money that I just got a miles credit card all right so they're starting off here more reena's player one and we saw a very brutal Ironman game in the last round and being such a low-scoring game at times really you want to pick up points anywhere you can get arm there's different approaches I personally would be going bogie on ball one to make something happen and but there's four or five different ways to approach this game right so people keep telling me I'm not I'm not an Ironman fan I will listen to all of your suggestions yeah generally generally speaking there's a there's really two ways that seem to be the predominant strategies and that's either bogey or longer and then you can kind of layer on or mix in some other stuff as it as you see fit there is a way actually to stack you can stack bogey with monger at various stages of it so you can stack bogey on when the monitor is up and shoot the orbits or the right ramp or you can start it right before you begin monger yeah totally I was I've this is we've been chatting this is possibly my least favorite pinball machine ever so no love for Ironman at all so I've been trying to find a way to make it fun to play I don't like playing games that aren't fun so we have sunshine joining us in the booth getting more women in here commenting on the Women's World Championship so I love having more more women supporting women so we are in the finals right now carries up one game to nil on Maureen sunshine what is your Ironman approach I like to Bucky okay no way okay straight from the get-go yeah yep I like to find those ramps early and I feel like if I do find those ramps that's a pretty safe way to earn a lot of points okay that's a sound strategy especially with how interesting some of the feeds

    did you play this earlier today um I did yeah I even played it against Carey wing and this is this is a game that Carey is very consistent on well Maureen is definitely a really strong competitor in here as well not to not to be discounted they both been playing amazing pinball all day today so absolutely it's really exciting to see the two of them matched up it'll be a great great finals for us great save on that partial Ram pattern from marine there there have been a lot of partial ramp returns [Music] so how do you did you face a lot of that when you were voguing earlier the half ramps you know usually usually I would miss the ramp like I would break it with one of the stand up targets so I either made the ramp I didn't really have any half ramps got it I either made it all the way or not at all all right so Maureen has started her Monger so she needs to hit one of the purple shots to bring the marker back up and there it is just like that so now she just needs a couple more hits tomorrow

    nice a little bit later than going for the left ramp but she's still just two shots away from bogey yeah she's finding that right yeah this is best-of-seven no I bet she's a little disappointed she brought the monger up there yeah so now she's kind of in a she had a choice to make here she could still go for a bogey now and you can then you know you typically you're gonna want to shoot orbits after you start bogey because the monger is blocking your left ramp or you can hold off on bogey and go for ironmonger multi-ball and then you have bogey running during with you all so what's the benefit of trying to go for bogey at this I was a great save on some on some Iron Man's especially ones with juicy spinners this one didn't have the spinners to used but if you can shoot the orbits and live catch with bogey running it's actually a very good way to play bogey and you also will get the points for the spinner right now the spinners are actually pre decent value when the monger is up and it also continues to add to your next monger hit so every spin you get will make your next monger hit more valuable and the monger fights back but making progress I think I think Kerry was just like oh I gotta get this mother so where do you go now with your marine sunshine what's your are you gonna bogey now I I mean it depends on how confident she's feeling with those ramps I would or you know what she's got this and she had more machine flashing right now she does alright so that is this kicker on the left-hand side she won't get a chance to start it but that would have started a two ball multi-ball with the opportunity to add two more so this is a this is a reachable Hill for Kerry she has a couple options you can choose four hits away from monger which is always troublesome to try survive she took the second move the first move I think she would have survived that the second move no her options were to let it drain and lose or decide to move it and take the take her chances with the tilt Bob and end up losing an error so but you might as well take your chances yeah at that point it's all or nothing so it was exciting unit neck-and-neck let's bring this to let's bring this to seven so we're going to move on and then Kerry's gonna have next pick of machines Karl is off to move his mobile rig over to the next game not quite sure where they're headed yet you want to introduce my name is and I have played in the Women's World Championship I think this is my fourth year wow that's awesome I'm Jessica DiNardo I live in Portland Oregon this is my first ever Women's World Championship didn't go as well as I had hoped but it was really fun Thanks Thanks I was just excited to make it here at all so yeah my name is Colin MacAlpine from Austin Texas and just I love that we're we've now you know evolved as a pinball competitive community where we can stream these fine women players competing at the highest level I think this is outstanding definitely for anyone joining us this is the Women's World Championship so we had international players joining us today so it's the top 16 from the open IFPI rankings and then eight wild card spots from just the women's ifba tournaments of women's only tournaments and maureen is one of those wild cards so it's amazing to see her here in the finals with carry and carry is the only competitor today to play in both the Women's World Championship and the North American national championship so it's a big day and we're on Tron yeah all right somebody's increase the volume level this is excellent you can actually hear the game volumes have been very low all day for everything across the board the most I usually was hearing were a few Star Trek call-outs and a little bit little bit of Tron action because it's so close yeah Shauna is such a great soundtrack and music and call-outs great fun game to play it's very kinetically pleasing when you hit the ramps and various shots of the game and I was there assuming this is their warmup okay so Jessica what's your which which path do you like to take on Tron I am I got a lot of flack this earlier but I know I like to go for disc okay everyone's like why would you possibly do that you know if it if it has a reliable feed back to the flipper then I really like going for that I was practicing this one yesterday I didn't end up playing it today but when I practiced it yesterday I hit the end of the line pretty smoothly the feebs on this are really really nice and that upper flipper is strong so it hits that side ramp really nice it does that but that's not a bad choice I think to go for just on this because it's an independent the physical copy and so that that's fitting disc on some trongs is just you know chaos and it will you know if there's some modified disc with like super grippy rubber and that will that will fling it and put weird wacky spin on the ball or fling it down the left out laying down the center this one I agree with you this this disc is not

    I had significant trouble finding that left ramp and Korra shot on this Tron versus others I played so I maybe should have gone with your strategy yeah it's it's interesting I haven't really seen a lot of people go for it today but you know we also haven't seen a lot of Korra multi balls so that's interesting that you say that you had some trouble and that's not the first time we've seen that happen today so that's really interesting because that shot normally if it's modded at all usually makes it a little bit tighter to hit it but it's impossible new target is hanging out way to the right so this this you target right here is hanging out this way blocking partially blocked in a core lane yet carry still managed to backhand it somehow that's yeah it's an amazing angle that you wouldn't think should happen but you know physics this is another one of those games that is just really bouncy and it can get a little bit out of control which is when it's really valuable to have the skills that Maureen and Kerry do you'll be able to

    alright so it looks like we are in position on x-men we know that the lighting scheme is very blue we apologize for any contrast difficulties and I'm assuming this is once again practice practice yep so each player gets 30 seconds of practice before they begin now this game truly has a lot of different ways to play it this isn't a game that I had ever played very much we don't really have like Portland doesn't have a lot of them out on location so it's been interesting to me to be able to watch it a little bit hear about all the different strategies and stacking all of the different you know heroes vs villains and you know which mode you want to bring in I personally like going for the Hellfire saying that you know trying to get the two different multi balls off the side ready yeah yeah I agree I have the Hellfire is these this cute little target Bank right here that you can hit from your right foot per and oftentimes you'll get the ricochet over to here to get Brotherhood as well as well so you can actually get two for one in terms of trying to qualify that there's three ball multi ball so it should be quite lucrative and then to start those three ball multi ball circle the little scoop sure so it will eventually light your villain flasher right here and the scoop is here now this scoop I've heard I did not get a chance to play x-men but I heard that the scoop is not very friendly and that it has a lot of rejects so we'll have to see how how these two players adapts or deal with the rejection scoop did you play this today son I did yeah I had a lot of luck I you know I just hit it like a forehand I just hit it solid and I hit it hard I got it into the scoop I played it earlier today and I was lucky enough to have some side-to-side action that got me Brotherhood multi ball qualified pretty early on in my first fall and so I would I would take that villain scoop but I wouldn't take the multi ball I would take another villain okay because it would automatically be lit as long as Brotherhood multi ball is lit at the villain scoop the villain will always be lit for you Oh interesting okay yeah so is what it is is it normally with villains you have to do a whole nother set incremental set of linton lanes these three in lanes and towards the qualifier knights villain but if you have one of those Brotherhood or hell fire lit it and I think it still requires one completion this setting does not okay I guess that's a justifying at least I did I I found that it was always lit for me but it's a very good strategy so I would just hold I you know I kept that little multi ball in my pocket ball three yeah so tough terrain there on the right outline for carry and she did not get a whole lot of progress there so let's see how Maureen chooses to play this and the other typical strategy a lot of people will use is they'll go for Wolverine so you can see the top of Wolverine here and underneath them is a shot that registers and there's also a magnet that will wreak havoc on your ball just in front of Wolverine as well a nice soft lunge which is pretty do take that skill shot from the upper flipper yep yeah I try anyway and it's on virtual locks it will release each time after you get it into the magneto locks correct and it is there is a magnet that's just throwing it around a little bit it's true there's also someone in the chat was mentioning to this is the setting where you can stack all of the hero motes together so that was definitely something that we were talking about oh about earlier it said on hero stacking yes oh yes well now yeah so that's crucial to getting as many of those start as possible before you play your magneto multi-bulb because it drastically increases both the value of your magneto jackpots as well as the number of them that are lit thanks Beast Lera for tuning in appreciate you staying up so late with us that was a great save one danger off that big move so that's real nice her killer she's

remember the first time I played this in pin burg a few years ago and yeah I haven't played since definitely a better space it feels much more open so this will be played as a one player game and carry once again his plane first so maybe that would suggest that Maureen chose a second again that could but that does seem to be yeah so the way that it works with the EMS with the single-player games is the player practices and then plays and then the other player practices in place so it's not the same as we've seen previous where both players have their practice and then they start the game together so Kerry will practice and then she will play her game record her score and then Maureen will practice and then play her game all right so our roving reporter Zoey came by to tell us that Kerry has been choosing to go first so marine chose the game and also AFM but Kerry chose to go first and it certainly worked out well for as well keep it going meanwhile this unattended ball has been doing very well better than some other players games so Jessica and sunshine so how do you play time zone so time zone is really interesting it has this tunnel that's in the center you can see the lights flashing and when you plunge there's a little switch here that'll lock in the tunnel value so right now it's lit for five thousand and up here if you go down the center that will collect your tunnel value is really super important to get the timing to get it to lock down to the five thousand but also the flipper strength or the plunger strength to be able to soft plunge into that well just doing quite well getting into that Center : yeah these throw away plunges are perfect yeah effortless almost there's a target right in the center that does two things it collects your bonus and it gives you the up post yes and you can keep doing this if you what the trick to this game is if you can lock in a good tunnel value just keep if you can lock in the deep tunnel value so the deepest value is the 5,000 in the tunnel and just if you can keep hitting that Center target and having it come back to your flippers and find out you know find a way to kind of just you know juggle it a little bit and go back and hit that center again have it come back and controlling your flippers again you can score a lot of points that way and the thing that will bring your posts back down are these two down post buttons so anytime you go over those the post will go down and once you've locked your tunnel in that's great until you hit these stand ups here or these scoops here that will set your tunnel to scroll again okay so a lot of places in the play field that will start scrolling your tunnel value again yep and you can collect your tunnel value through here so you can loop around and come in there and then it'll kick it back up to the top so that's one way that you can collect your tunnel value the other one is up at the top that we talked about before the two scoops at the top can open your upper and your lower gate and then when you go down you'll collect 2,000 points there and 2,000 points there so if you go through the upper you can collect 4,000 points on your way back down and then you get another plunge so you had another chance to set that tunnel value and collect it up at the top look out you know I think this was a very smart choice of marine I agree just because I think that Kerry has just been really dominating some modern games for the hours and and this is gonna this is definitely a different different style yeah absolutely but also the confidence she knows this is one of those already she's been gone through them pretty quick yeah when she's getting that 5k skill-shot on this game that can be so so valuable because we've seen a lot of games come in around the twenty thirty thousand mark so she has no tunnel value now what is up with that guessing a light is out look at 5,000 there nice yeah if you get some good collects in this game sometimes that's all it takes she does not have those gates open okay

    so we're joining them on ball 2 and Zack sharp just started his multi ball is he player 1 he is player 1 player 1 yep 2 2 2 right now between Zack and who's be playing against he's playing against will McKinney updating as we speak so this game of thrones plays very difficult it has it has no rubber host on the inline Outland divider and wide open out lanes and it's also set to casual mode so everybody is forced to play like they'd never played pinball before in terms of they don't get to select a house you don't get to choose which mode you want to play if you only have one battle house battle it it will automatically start that house battle and so yeah it's it's it's a technique that the tournament directors chose to use because that way they're avoiding any shooter lane switch issues of one player getting locked into a house that they don't want so everybody gets locked into a house they don't want which is dark yes we are gonna switch back as soon as the machine issue is resolved since this will be the last game or two of the finals for the Women's World Championship but in the meantime we want to be able to show as much of the Nationals action as possible good shot there 15 mil for that 6 X multiplied shot to Targaryen and that's not even in the mode yet

    and this game has been modified slightly so yesterday kind of in warm-ups you had a really nice feed from the right orbit down to the right flipper you just hold it up and catch it and everything was great but they added a little post rubber here which now sends the ball over to the left with mixed results it's inconsistent though depending on how it's coming off that wall so sometimes it still goes oh and the key there is it makes it more difficult because it's inconsistent yep you have to read it and you had to read it quickly yeah so will wills no stranger to this game he defeated me on our final game Game of Thrones and he put half a billion and when it made its a hand of the king so he is perfectly capable of catching and surpassing Zach here he is looks like he's and that's going for the lock shot he went for it now nudged it out of the outline area which is great move and this is this is the difference right here is he cannot pass on this he must start his Greyjoy mode which looks like he's already played once before he made partial progress you do not get the option to pass on it or select a different house because we are playing casual mode so were you guys having luck earlier backhanding the center ramp because it's been mixed reviews seen a successful it tends to go screaming back down we saw Hannah have some really was determined and she kept she would not give it up and she eventually got it up there it was it was well at least I kept coming back met her in such a way that she had more than one yeah I think he knew that he'd given a too big of a move there he didn't really need to give it that big of a move and so he knew it when it happened and he pretty correctly predicted that it was gonna go danger danger dope and I did so Zacks gonna let that sit for a while just to let you guys know you can kind of see in the background there but they still have they don't have time zone popped up yep they're coming back to the desk now so I'm wondering if they're having to make some type of ruling but essentially if they can't get that working again that would be deemed catastrophic and they're gonna be disabled that's correct she'll need to choose something else which is a real shame because she was in a position there where she pretty reasonably eclipsed carry score giving it fair time for that tilts to cool down yeah and it's unfortunate here I you know I highly recommend for anybody running tournament or leagues to you know use an earplug and put it into the hole that's in the bracket that holds the tilt stick and that way it dampens the swinging of the tilt Bob and comes to rest in a matter of like 10 seconds and then telling all your players that so that way they don't have to wait a full minute and your tournament will move that much faster yeah they chose not to do that here it could've maybe because they maybe they didn't have the time to put those in but I highly highly highly recommend that very high-tech solution that was a nice on-the-fly post-transfer
