TL;DR

Pinball Expo 2022 preview with charity event details and Roger Sharpe doc review.

Summary

Josh Roop and Matt Scott Larson preview Pinball Expo 2022 and discuss their recent machine acquisitions (Guardians of the Galaxy for both hosts). The episode covers logistics for the expo, details of their "Flipping the Script" autism charity event on Thursday with a detailed speaker lineup and auction (68 items, $7,300+ committed toward a $25,000 goal for autism diagnosis scholarships), and a positive review of Roger Sharpe's recently released documentary film.

thanks for tuning in to the loser kid pinball podcast this is episode 94 i am josh roop with me my co-captain as always scott larson and scott we've got honestly there's like really no news and expo's happening in a couple of days we do have news you and i are getting new games oh yeah so where'd you get your game from that's the big question i contacted zach and nicola flipping out pinball and i am getting one of the last one from the last run of guardians of the galaxy nice so it will be nice because uh i have missed iron man a little bit since i sold it yeah um don't i don't want to own another iron man but this has a a similar feel but kind of an upgraded iron man feel yeah so i'm looking forward to it and my friend has it uh brandon has it and I've loved playing it, and I just wanted to pull the trigger before it went into the vault. I agree. I have the same sentiments you do. I called Zach because, just like you, I heard Guardians of the Galaxy was going out of style. That Stern's no longer going to be doing it. I've honestly never owned a Guardians or a Metallica, so I thought this was a great opportunity to try. I've never owned a Metallica either. Yeah. And this is definitely the more family-friendly version with the Groot that you bash instead of Sparky. so zach was flipping out hooked me up uh i know that i was late on the list but we made some space i was i was able to make it on so i'm excited it should i got the call today it'll be here tomorrow so i need to be available anywhere from nine in the morning till five in the afternoon i love that right oh can you be can you be a little more non-specific with your time can you be like right yeah can you can can you at least give me a month that i just have to be available exactly Just say Tuesday. It's crazy. But if you're looking for that new pinball machine, hit up Zach. He's got all the goods and arcade games. It's not just pinball you're limited to. Zach is awesome to work with. And trust me, you won't have any issues. You'll be happy you decide to go with flipping out pinball. Okay. I'm looking at, ironically, I'm looking at all of Stern's, the things they have in their active category, right? Not in their archive. um of all the games i have ordered all but two so far should we play guess what scott hasn't ordered then guess what i haven't ordered from the uh from stern's active category i'm gonna say james bond okay yes and that is one of them yes because not really available yet are you going to order one are you on the list for a james bond i i will i'll buy one i really i'm looking at it and i i think it's going to be a sleeper hit uh it's it it looks just like it has the vibe of deadpool and maybe that will help jump start it so when people play it they'll think oh this this has a familiar vibe you know you know like we like we want new but we like familiar right yeah um and so i so people are going to warm up to this game faster than they warmed up to deadpool okay but i still think as we talked about the the fumbling of the launch that i really lay on this on the licensor um that it's probably cooled off sales a little bit and so there may not be as many of them so it may be a game to hold on to and buy because it will go up in value i mean like a stranger things right i mean that game you can't a premium you can't get under what nine grand now yeah 10 10 11 somewhere on there yeah it's insane so the other one what's the other one oh what is the other one elvira you're right yeah yeah okay and okay that is actually one of the two that i don't i wasn't really thinking of james bond because ah so elvira yeah elvira is not really gonna fit in my house for family reasons i don't know if it's it's a great game it really is if you haven't hit elvira get out play it it's just it's fine i it's just uh the theme is not not for my family and that's they totally know that right you know because you don't want to have to explain to your kids when you plunge the ball and it lands in the back door of the house she says yeah yeah well i'm gonna i'm gonna i'm gonna cut out what she says yeah oh my goodness but hey you people love it it's a great game it's got great humor um i just i don't think it's super appropriate for the family well it depends on your family it's just a it's it's a targeted audience yeah there's nothing wrong with that so here's the hint be proud here's the hint on the other one i was initially on the list for an le of this and i backed out oh my goodness originally on an le oh so wait you didn't order this one from oh wait i want to say jurassic park uh no i own jurassic park i know but you never ordered it directly from zach you bought it second hand right that that's true but i still own it i'm not going to buy another one so um okay this was my dream theme and once i saw iron maiden wasn't that interested star wars oh i saw i i went and i played my friend star wars he got nelly and he had two games at the time that were fairly new uh star wars ellie which looks really pretty i actually i thought the both art styles were actually favorable to the game um but he also had attack from mars downstairs and i played attack from mars the entire night i played star wars like once or twice so i i've never i have yet to feel that i want to own a star wars gotcha gotcha gotcha which is sad because i do love the theme well i haven't really i usually don't honestly order much from stern maybe i just don't order much period i don't know yeah maybe i do i don't know i order a lot i i am to the point with though where if one goes in at least one has to go out. Oh yeah. Possibly one or two. So right now my entire house is torn up because we are going through renovations. So four of my machines are actually folded up in the garage and shrink wrapped. Yeah. So tell us, tell us about what's going on. Obviously what your last two weeks is. Yeah. So it's just been super crazy. We, um, well, um, we, and by we, I mean, my wife, uh, decided that she wanted to do some renovations on the house, which is totally fine. It's a, it's a 2006 house. So there seems to be some things that need to be freshened up. Uh, and we, we had contacts with a contractor and a designer and they came up with the design and basically we're redoing the entire main level of the house. So I haven't had time to do much in the last two weeks other than completely pack away or throw away stuff that we don't need that's always fun too like your wife's like do we keep this and you're like uh yeah actually it was it was kind of therapeutic because it was like you know what i don't need it i haven't needed it so it's gone i don't know about you and your family but my wife is like have you used it in the last six months it's like uh is there any like emotional attachment like it's a family heirloom you know what i'm saying well ironically the only thing that was broken was a curio cabinet that was my mom's that had all this fancy glass in it and that's the only thing they dropped and broke almost every piece of glass in there oh so we're like well it is what it is it's yeah so so that that's what's going on in my house uh we are dan we are basement dwellers for the next six months at least you've got a nice enough basement that you can dwell down there yeah it has 10 machines uh my last two weeks have been what has been my last two weeks been mine's mostly mostly focusing on flipping the script which we'll talk about later uh i got rid of johnny i can't remember if that was gone last time we talked you talked you talked about it yeah okay so johnny and earthshaker are both gone and i've upgraded to guardians the galaxy i got the call fedex is bringing it tomorrow like i said anywhere from nine to four so good thing my wife doesn't have a job because someone's got to be home to receive it i guess uh other than that we we had my father-in-law's birthday party here always a blast having the family over to play some pinball play cards uh my wife makes homemade stewed tomatoes and then She then incorporates that into a sauce she makes for what we call smothered burritos. Imagine a salsa mixed with a stewed tomato, and then she adds in olives and pork chops and mushrooms, and it's just this delicious sauce that you pour over the top of your burrito. It's a special treat because we don't get it very often. She did that yesterday. Delicious. I bet Bill Webb's drooling. I know he loves his burritos. Man, you've got to come out. We'll make you some other burrito sometime. Burrito. Burrito. Yeah, other than that, it's been focusing on the kids. Fall break was last week. I think that was for you guys as well, right? It was, but we spent all our time cleaning. Yeah, and ours was, we went to like the corn maze. We have those here. It was fun. We used to have them all in Highland too, but they, because all the building boom has completely taken away all the cornfields. Really? Oh, yeah. We don't have any cornfields here anymore. It's funny because we go to the corn maze, right? And my twins that are three and a half decided that they were more addicted to the zip line than anything else. So it's like we spent the money to get in just to write a zip line. Hey, but the kids had fun. Yeah, they had fun. But yeah, that's been my last couple of weeks. I guess when you're a family man, you do what the family wants to do, right? You can. Yeah, exactly. so hey i want to speaking of a family man i want to give a shout out to tim lee and his wife amy lee for was it 20 wonderful years of marriage i mean yeah it was a big one 20 or 25 uh they went and celebrated and it looks like they had a a lot of fun going to like rochester collective pinball and just kind of going to the east coast so congratulations to them speaking of family should we get into some of the news yeah um is there news there hasn't been much uh apparently we'll be able to we'll talk about this but um pinball brothers are bringing over queen yeah they they announced it today well they gave a teaser post a shrink wrap machine that you can see queen through and they're like we have no idea what's in this but it's coming to expo with yeah uh they've done that um what else do we what else did we say there's there really hasn't been much the thing is it's like bond we're in this like really weird like bond's been revealed ish for the most part i know that the live streams tomorrow we're recording on monday the 17th so by the time you hear this it probably already shown the stream of it um it just it's weird because like americans kind of on the hot seat because we'll keep hearing about Galactic Tank Force Dennis from Eclectic Gamers Dennis and Tony on rumor corner said that it a possibility cgc has finished pulp fiction and we might see that this week so that could be awesome i mean there we're in a spider-man standoff you know with the imposters and we're just waiting for someone to shoot their webs trying to figure out exactly exactly um but we've had some confirmations over the last week it's nice bond will be at expo at least that's what jack danger announced via his streaming page on facebook um queen is going to be there from pinball brothers uh magic girl i know this was announced a while ago but they're getting like their own whole booth just for magic girl so it's gonna be interesting what they have i'll be interested to see how that thing plays because they obviously had to do some significant modifications to make that a playing game because the way that it was initially set up, it was not playable. But let's get into Expo really quick. Wednesday, it sounds like you're getting in Wednesday. I'm getting in Wednesday. Yep. Most of the crew's getting in on Wednesday, it sounds like. It sounds like a lot of people. And that night, there'll be some people setting up or vendors set up. There's going to be a bumper blast welcoming party at Interium. Yep. so I'm hoping to stop by there. It sounds like a great location. I definitely want to see some of the, the establishments outside of my home state because there's some really good ones out there. Definitely. Galloping ghost is there as well. I don't know. They usually have something going on during Chicago. Yeah. They're, they're one of the few that actually have one of those predator predator machines. Yeah. complete with dangling skull and spine bones i know that's just creepy it's awesome that is that is quite the uh it is it is uh engagement with the game so so yeah you'll get in wednesday you're getting around about noon i'm getting around five ish yeah um my wife and my mother-in-law are coming with me they're coming to support flipping the script on autism uh i think i'm pretty much setting up uh depending on what what's gone on with with zach and george we're right next to flipping out spoof we've seen the map by the way i know this hasn't been posted publicly but we're right next to stern we're just north of them i think that's north um if you've been to expo before when you walk through the double doors if you remember where stern was at they were on the far right side we're just a little bit past them i haven't seen one of the tournament areas either but tournament area is upstairs remember oh yeah they actually have that set up upstairs last time They had kind of a curtained area that was separated from the vendor area. So I believe it's in a completely different location this time. Well, they were having issues with people sneaking in through the curtain into the vendor area. I think that's one of the main reasons they moved the tournament area upstairs is so that way they wouldn't have more controlled access. Yeah, exactly. Thursday. So Thursday, we're pretty booked. 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. We've got Flippin' the Script. This is Josh's brainchild that he started for autism. And there's an autism center that is by Josh that his son actually goes to. This is not a fundraiser for Josh's son. It's actually a fundraiser for the location. But this is something that he feels very strongly about. and to be able to help out this facility that, you know, sadly, a lot of these type of resources are underfunded. Yes. That's the bottom line. And a lot of people are in get a weird donut hole situation where they have to pay thousands of dollars really even before their insurance kicks in. When we discussed with Sarah Foster, the owner and operator of Learning Solutions and Justin Benson, and the facility gentleman that's over everything, and he'll actually be with us there on Thursday. We found out that their ultimate goal is $25,000. And the reason being is they have 31 kids on a waiting list. If you're not familiar with the process of being diagnosed for autism, it is a long, emotional, tedious year-plus venture. And it's expensive. and so 31 kids are on that list they need some money to take care of that sarah said that 25 000 should take care of these 31 kids it will take care of not should it will take care of them and they'll be able to get the diagnosis so the insurance will kick in so they can start getting the therapies and stuff that they need so all the money is actually not even going to learning solutions is going directly to these kids basically it's a scholarship program yeah definitely if And you're well aware of how charities and stuff work, Scott, because you've done yours with. Yeah, it's it's hard. It's hard because trying to find the best way of raising the money, but making it as transparent as possible to make sure I in my heart, I believe that people are willing to give to charities as long as they feel that what they're giving is utilized in the way they want it to be. Yep. So that's the reason why we set there. Well, Josh set this up. So the money passes directly to them. Yep. Like we're not collecting it and then distributing it. It's going to them. Yep. Is Ari going to go? It's set up in a bank that is going directly to these families and paying those medical expenses. And it actually goes to a board. that board then all has to sign off on that money going to to the medical expenses people are willing to give money if it's utilized for the right reasons and you guys are the ones that went out on all of this i mean it's a great cause it's it's you're helping the future of these children and there are some wonderful items up for auction we had to shift you want to talk about the the latest edition uh guest wise or i know the latest edition for item wise the ken sent us over two foot by three foot not in this lifetime guns and roses poster signed by slash yeah so i got that up yesterday somewhere around there and uh yeah this thing looks pretty awesome yeah again what an awesome what an awesome donation we we are i'm blown away by how willing the the manufacturers and and all the supporters were willing to contribute to this because we it's not like i have ten thousand dollars worth of swag to give away and i've got some hats and i got other stuff that I can do, but for them to step up and give their personal, uh, well, their, their company, their personal merchandise for us to auction off. It really is overwhelming. Definitely. And it's crazy too. Like once we actually started the auction and it went live, we had a ton more people step up and say, Hey, here's, here's more stuff. Here's more stuff. We more than doubled the items that we already had. It was, it's crazy. It's been, How do we find the auction? 32 Auctions. That's with an S. .com slash flipping the script. Make sure you don't put a G in there with flipping. So that should take you right there. Take you to our homepage. Show you our goal. I just barely logged in. And yes, flipping the script, like flipping out pinball. But so far, we have 7,300 committed. Yeah. And that is really unbelievable. 68 items. There's some stuff that hasn't been bid on yet. There's a really cool Rick and Morty portal gun plunger. If you haven't seen this thing, it's like literally having the portal gun from the TV show attached to your pinball machine. It is pretty sweet. Okay. You can also get the American Girl flip side pinball machine. Yes. So you can get a real pinball machine. So there are some things that I definitely will be bidding on. Yeah, I keep looking at the list. I'm like, I want this. I want this. I'll buy that. I'll buy that. Exactly. And it all goes to a great cause. As far as the schedule goes, let's hurry and talk lineup really quick. I think this is pretty much cemented in place at this point. We're going to start off the party with the poor men, Drew and Rachel. And with them, we have Josh Sharpe. He is going to come in. It's going to be talking about some CGC, maybe some code, raw thrills. We're going to have a pinball machine set up, play some pinball. Josh just took second in the tournament that they did last weekend. I want him to bring his championship belt and show that thing off. Because for all the second place talk, this man has literally the wrestling championship belt, right? That he has won. And I'm like, if you did that more, you'd get more people in the competitive pinball, right? Yeah. And forget a trophy. To be fair, he would also destroy 99 percent of the people out there that he would play against. Exactly. So we have them up first. Actually, we'll do an introduction first. We'll probably introduce not only ourselves, but some of the people that are involved and some of the people have donated. Then from noon to one thirty. It's yours truly. And we're going to be with Steven Bowden. I'm excited for this Steve's a great guy he has a lot of wealth of knowledge it's going to be interesting to talk about him an American and transitioning into a company like that I've wanted this guy on the show for a while and he was kind of we wanted to find the right time because it's not that we all know his story right it's It's working through Deep Root and for him to have such a passion for pinball and be able to find a next phase when we all know what happened to Deep Root. I'm super happy for Steve. He's such a positive influence and a great player. And I don't know of anybody who has a negative thing to say about him. Yeah, Steve is a great dude. So I'm excited. But after that, Amanda Hamilton, she might have Bill with her. I know it's a free play pinball podcast, but she is going to have Keith Elwin on, none other than the GOAT himself. She had to get special permission from us to allow Keith to come on. And I heard it's not just Keith that's going to be joining her. We might have another special guest, and she's got some epic stuff planned. Really? worst case scenario she ends up just playing pinball with them but yeah well okay so she'll be playing five percent of the time keith will be playing 95 exactly and if it's on like dead we're gonna see the end of the game so um but i was told maybe some pictionary might be involved with an artist that we all love and know i don't know well we'll see what happens after those shenanigans we've got craig bobby with eric mignier this is craig's first time to expo and wait i thought craig was like the stern correspondent he is the stern correspondent so this is kind of like this is like an unholy union exactly no so craig actually does all the news now yeah he took over the whole thing yeah so um what what guns and roses song can craig do the dong dong dong dong dong dong dong dong Okay that even worse than mine And mine was pretty bad What's he going to do, like, welcome to the jungle? No. And I've been told there's going to be more than just Eric there, but we'll see. If you haven't checked out the site, he is bringing a sweet, unprinted play field of Guns N' Roses. they're going to sign it and personalize it and write all over this thing through the winter. I love these. Like, I love the Whitewoods that have, or sorry, I love the playfields that have the art on them and everything, but there's something so cool about seeing a naked play field. Yes. Because you get to see, oh, my gosh, this is the manufacturing. This is how it goes into it. It's really impressive. and then from 4 30 to 6 don't panic flip this is george fisher he's gonna be hanging out with dwight sullivan and jerry thompson if you're a harry potter fan i'm told you're not gonna want to miss this because george and dwight both have a love for harry potter that is unmatched so there might be some trivia i don't know we'll check it out dwight always has trivia yes uh 6 to 7 30 no coin drop required Jen Rupert and she gets to interview the legend himself Roger Sharp which his movie was fantastic tell me about the movie I have been so busy the last two weeks I have not been able to watch it so if you're a tealess skip ahead because I know anything any kind of spoiler does not rub him the right way even if you say it's good or bad or indifferent right so So that was your warning. I thought it was fantastic. I'm not going to spoil it with what happens in the court. Because none of us know what happened back in 1976, right? No, it was a wonderful balance between him and his wife and them and their dating life. And him trying to balance that with pinball and his job at GQ. And it was really, really well done. I don't know how else to put it the humor was fantastic I think it's a success story anybody can look at Roger and know what an unqualified success he has been in pinball where he has been able to make it marketable and bring his passion and his experience to pinball and really take it to the next level I still think about the documentary I saw it's called The Way of the Puck and people who were fanatics about air hockey. And they had the same level of passion, but just not the same commercial success. Because once you buy an air hockey machine, that's it. You got it. You're not buying a new one. I have purchased probably 20, 25 pinball machines because each machine brings its own life. So it's so awesome that Roger was able to get both of those because that's pretty rare to find your passion and your dream job. And that's what Roger had. Well, what I loved about this too is we usually see Roger as a very charismatic, wonderful guy that knows what always to say, right? And in this movie, it was kind of like he's starting out in a world he doesn't know, and he doesn't know exactly what to say. And I've never got the perception that he necessarily didn't want to do the court stuff, but he was asked to very nicely by the MAA, which was based in New York. And so it's about that. It's if you know about the Roger Sharp tapes, when he went and interviewed all these people, they were starting to release them via coast to coast there when he was wrapping everything up. These those were the actual tapes that they talk about in this movie. It's just it's amazing. It's really good. What I liked about it is so I had my wife watch it and I didn't sit over her. She took her own time, watched it herself. And by the end of I said, what do you think? She's like, I really liked it. It didn't feel like they were forcing pinball history on me. It was an actual story and it didn't feel like a Hallmark special. You know, the Hallmark specials. Yeah. Yeah. It's, it seems just a little too sappy sweet. Well, not only that, but like, even the, like the filmography is almost like nineties cameras. Like we never really did update and it's a little cheesy with the green screens. None of that was this. Yeah. The, it was, it was. A solidly good made movie. This felt like they could have put it in the theaters across the nation, and it felt like it belonged there kind of thing. Kind of mockumentary. Not mockumentary, but when I say mockumentary, I think of like Modern Family. I feel like that Modern Family kind of style. The older Roger Sharpe kind of narrating throughout his younger life. There's just some great moments with that, too, as well. I think if you're a pinball fan, you're going to love it. If you're not a pinball fan, I really do think you'll enjoy this movie. You'll enjoy it anyway, which is where you're going to find the extra people, right? Yeah. Because this is where – it's those margins, the middle – the swing voters that you need to win over. If you're worried about rating, I would put this movie at a PG, maybe PG-13. I can't really remember any swear words that really stood out to me. There's even a joke made at that expense in the movie. but um yeah i think if it's safe to say if you listen to us you're going to be fine yep exactly so jen's excited she's ecstatic i think they just did a movie i'll probably hang out and just be around there just so i can i'm gonna bring my pinball book i need you to remind me so yeah i need to grab mine that i need to remember i need to go grab that too and then 7 30 to 9 this is our headliner, Zach Mene, with Marc Silk, the one, the only. Mark is one of the funniest men that I've ever talked to. He has so much energy. And if he were not a professional voice actor, he could have been a professional comedian. Legitimately, the guy is that funny. Oh, yeah. He's fantastic. And it's funny. We asked him to do this months ago. I just said, hey, I don't know if you're coming to Expo. This is what I got going on. He's like, I'll be there. I was like, well, you don't have to come if you don't, you know. He's like, no, he's like, consider me in. Mark's so great on it. Yeah, I was blown away when he, yeah. And so I'm excited. Zach and Mark both have great personalities. They're going to be quite the charismatic pair together. So it's going to be interesting to see how that goes. and then we're going to wrap everything up with me and you and Justin Benson of Learning Solutions. We're going to take the last hour on that one. All these interviews are about an hour and a half long, so the last hour is just going to be us kind of going over where the auction sets at and kind of talk about Learning Solutions. It might not be 100% just us and Justin. We'll see what happens, but that will be kind of a wrap-up hour. And the nice part about Expo is it goes on for another two hours, So if you win your prizes, your win you auctions, you can swing by, uh, should be able to grab most items or we can get you arranged to, to pick them up if you're in Chicago or whatever we need to do. So pretty solid schedule though. I posted this to the group. We have about 20 people in and, uh, someone pointed out they love the diversity of this. There's people from all backgrounds and groups. it's not your stereotypical middle-aged bald chubby white male i've got that demographic so we got that covered we got that um we get so i i'm but i'm glad that it's been able to say you know what we really want bring to be bring people together for a common cause yep and it It really has brought a lot of people together, a lot. And I'm very humbled at the community, at the industry, at the friends that we've made. This is just it's been amazing. And I can't wait for Thursday. I mean, we're Monday night. And, man, I just Wednesday cannot get here soon enough so I can get on that airplane. So that's that's mainly our Thursday. If you don't want to watch us for 12 hours, there is the JJP tour. Yep. So I'm excited. I we're going to try to figure out how we can get a tour. I'm not sure if it'll jive with the schedule, but it's it's a great opportunity. If you're there on Thursday, what a great way of seeing like up close and personal how manufacturing works. So it should be great. I would definitely check that out. And I'm again, I'm so glad they have updated their format that the expo hall opens at 12 noon. Yep. And it closes at midnight. And so that is 12 hours of everything and including like there are speakers that are going on. There's there's the Battle of the Bells Women's Tournament, too. uh there's a pinball expo world cup tournament and so there's all these other things that are going on too it's it's a full day it's not like you're waiting around last year um they they had a segregated they had like a free play area and on the other side they had like they had the vendor area yeah the vendor area it is mixed and mingled it is together like it is at texas texas pinball festival which is a better format oh yeah it's a much better format so you won't have to wait for five or six hours just to get into placing that vendor stuff and only get to play it for four hours or whatever. Again, they, they took, they took feedback to heart. Yep. And explore all of expo. So what we've got going on Friday, we've got the virtual tour with Stern. I know that don't sleep on that one. That one's fantastic. That was fun. Uh, it was, it was a lot better than I thought it was going to be. Yeah. Because Jack was able to go into different areas that we wouldn't have been able to go to. So that was an interesting take on it. I still at some point would like to do the Stern in-person tour, but it was a good alternative. I think Expo even opens up earlier on Friday. Yep, Friday. It's 10 a.m. Awesome. Yeah, closes at midnight again. a lot of seminars that are going on and uh the one i'm looking forward to a lot is um roger sharp and the man who saved pinball it's five o'clock so that's one thing i'm earmarking then saturday uh we have uh so you and i signed up again for pinball olympics yes It's noon to four, and then we'll go a little bit over. Yeah. But definitely worth it. Every cent. Head up there. It's certainly awesome. I hear it's sold out, but if you're really looking for that thing, they may be able to figure something out. But anyway, I did hear all 100 tickets were sold out, and it's a full afternoon of drinks and tacos and weird games. Yep. And when you say weird games it not like some randomly made game No no This is like someone took a metallica and decided to hook up one the drop target or one of the stand to it the tilt tilt on the other machine so yeah there's no one yeah yeah uh it's fantastic yeah the one i'm looking forward to playing again is the upside down barracora where you're playing with a mirror yep the luge yep um oh come on i thought xenon was your favorite yeah no no just don't go past the beaded curtain that is certainly uh it's it's a unique game i would say 99 of their games are very family friendly that one happens to be in the blue area exactly or is that the pink room i can't remember which room it was in but don't if you see a beaded curtain and you're not into that kind of stuff just do not go pass the media curtain um there should be a turntable up in his garage if i remember correctly yeah and that was uh tna last year yep and i was told it gets switched every year so it won't be so i don't know what it'll be this time yeah so a lot of wonderful games it sounds like you and i are hitching a ride with amanda and mike hamilton i think so we're gonna tie you tie you to the hood of the car okay put some mallards on you I don't know if that's legal in Illinois. I know it's here in Utah. It probably is. And then Sunday's wrap-up day. I know that some people are going to be taken down Saturday night. Tournament will still be going on on Sunday. My flight doesn't leave until 4 on Sunday. Yeah, I'm getting out early. 7.30, I'm flying out. I'll be done. I'll have four full days. so it's time to get back home and help out so what are you looking forward to most probably flipping the script yes i'm i'm nervous i'm excited i'm anxious i'm everything when it comes to that just because it has been six months of putting this thing together and wondering how it's going to look um you know ken cromwell jjp originally a special one lit just told us that and again was special with lit he's kind of calmed my nerves on all this Cause he's given a lot of good advice. Yeah. So Ken's a good guy. Yeah. Um, and if you mess up, it's live TV. So what? So, so what's the bill O'Reilly? Forget it. We'll do it. Oh yeah. Yeah. We'll do it live. Yeah. We'll do it live. Uh, that's the, that's such a perfect clip of him. So yeah, that's what I'm looking forward to. What are you looking forward to Scott? Okay. I, I will say absolutely flipping the script. I'm in addition to that and everything we've talked about, I'm really looking forward to James Bond. Yes. Because I am excited to see that game and, and get my hands on it. It's so hard to get a feel for a game when you're just watching the video of it. Yeah. Because, you know, some games may be awesome to shoot and other games just may be a clunk fest and it could just be how the game set up but it will be fun to to try that out so that that is definitely on my target list of i want to i want to play the pro i want to play the premium because there are people who are you know maybe leaning more toward pro than they would on any other title yeah so there's there may not be significant differences but i i still want to experience them both because i anticipate this being a sleeper hit there is a handful of machines i do want to try while we're there i want to make sure we try is it rat race oh that comes to expo every year yeah that was yeah it's uh it's kind of like playing um oh what's that game labyrinth like in the 70s you had that tilt thing that was tilted two ways and it would go into a hole um you know it's like a maze that has these holes so yeah rat race it's a pinball it's a pinball machine but it's like it's like it's a competition yeah it's it's like a coffee table style too you have to sit down and the whole play field moves and you're moving it and so i love playing joust when joust is always fun that joust is it's it's a unique game i want to try magic girl because you know oh yeah history history there i i want to check out the homebrew section spend a little more time i we felt like we had to rush through it last year yeah but i want to spend a little more time there uh definitely want to try out queen and any games that they might reveal yeah so and i uh i will bring my recorder like it at texas and try to do like three to five minute snapshot interviews and that could just that'll be just a compilation show we're not gonna do too much on that but it's just a little snapshots talking to different people yeah i may all edit a little better this next time no it's fine i really it was just more of random thoughts that people may or may not have been interested in last time yeah i want to do some really quick shout outs because there has been a lot of people that have come together for flipping the script. I want to give a shout to our sponsors really quick. Stern Pinball, Flip N Out Pinball, Haggis, Jersey Jack, Chicago Gaming, American Pinball. We've even put Pinball Expo because they have donated to us as well for that. Pin Stadiums, Lit Frames, Pinball Company, Fast Pinball, Hooked On Pinball, Christopher Franchi Pinball Art, Interactive Pinball Mods, Performance Pinball, Precision Pinball Products, Pinshades, Nap Arcade, Angry, Alpaca, Coffee and Tea, pinball investments and spooky pinball. They've made this all possible. And I really appreciate all those that didn't even hesitate when I asked and reached out for help. And those that then, when they saw what was going on, reached out to me and said, we want to help. So, I mean, like I said, right now we're sitting around 68 products. It's amazing. I also want to give a shout out to the people that are involved. Obviously, Scott Larson has been very helpful with this we have amanda hamilton of free play pinball george fisher don't panic flip zach many of flipping out pinball pinball show straight down the middle what else am i missing that man's the ryan reynolds of pinball right uh a big shout out to rachel risto rachel risto drew i can't say Drew's last name. Poor man, Drew. To Jen Rupert, to Craig Bobby, and to all of our guests. I'm excited, and thank you for not even hesitating when I asked. You guys are all awesome. It's insane. It really is insane. I guess, take a step back, take a look at it. We have roughly 30 people with the stream. Does that sound about right? About 20? Yeah, about that. About 20 on the stream. You know, we've had people donate their time, donate product. I mean, we've had just in sponsors alone, we have 20, 20 ish different sponsors, 25. I mean, it's amazing the number of people have come together to help with this. And I just thank you so much. I bet our listeners are getting sick of hearing about it, but I'm excited. This has been amazing. So, no, I, I, yeah, I, I can't say enough about it. It's, and I know you left yourself out, but none of this would have happened without you. When you pitched it to me, I, okay. I didn't know if I was going to be able to fit Expo into my schedule this year. Um, everything, it's still very packed. But as soon as Josh said, this is what he was trying to do and the reason why he was trying to do it. I am like, I'm in, just let me know. And I will be there. Yeah. And I appreciate that, man. We are looking forward to all y'all. And this will be a slightly shorter episode just because we are trying to wrap up things a little bit before like we have one day and then I'm flying out the next day. So need to remember to pack everything. I'll bring as much swag as I can. Yeah. So we'll see what we can do. I've stuffed my backpack full, too. Yeah. We tried to make some more hats. So we have the Loser Kid 2.0 hats. And I have some stickers. I have some other random stuff that I made over the years. So if you see us, please go ahead and ask us. Introduce yourself. We love to meet people in the hobby. And it's amazing how many people we've met through this over the last, what, three or four years. How long have we known this? We've been doing the podcast for four years in January. That's crazy. Holy crap. Yeah. And then we've both been in the hobby longer than that. Yeah. Everyone's welcome to talk to us except for Joe Lemire. Because, you know, Joe. Joe's going to tackle you and steal your hat. He's worn his hat out. Joe is awesome. No, I'm excited. There's a lot of people that reached out that said they're going to be there. Yeah. Have we just been rambling? Are we just rambling? We're rambling now Time to wrap up Time to crap or get off the pot As they say in the west I don't know, maybe they say it everywhere else Yeah If you are listening to this Put in the comments of the episode on our Facebook page Or on Pinside, wherever it may be What you're excited for for Expo If you're going to be there, hit us up Like I said, we all have to eat at some point So maybe we'll get some food together Yeah, absolutely. We'd love to grab bread with anybody. All right. I guess I'll just wrap this up. Sounds good. If you want to get a hold of us, we are Loser Kid Pinball at LoserKidPinballPodcasts at gmail.com.
