I had like a twisted tea and two bushlights. And you know what? I'm here to say Bush Lite's surprisingly good. BushLite is totally good. And it's something you can't get everywhere, I don't think. Like, maybe you can if you really look for it, but I know in the Midwest it's like super popular. Yeah, it's a good Midwestern beer. We were actually talking about that too, how like kind of different areas have their regional kind of like crappy beer. Like what's the one, Yingling or whatever? The Kind of totally in that Pennsylvania maybe like in that genre on the East Coast And you know there's like anchor steam that people drink I know like in San Francisco That's like a beer that is sort of in that same genre But yeah, I mean Bush light for me at MGC was like it was going down real easy So see the thing about those cheap beers like what's another one like Keystone light? That's another that's another one or in Buffalo because I grew up near their Genesee The You see around I gotta say I know people want to hate on these beers They're like ah, I guarantee you all the beer drinkers we have which is probably a lot of people listen definitely You make a blind lineup like have a little have a little fun with your friends, you know get like six to ten light, you know even not even light like just regular lager beers and Try to blindly guess them you will get you won't get any right You might think, oh, I've been drinking these beers like my whole life. Like you will not. I have done this many times. It is really, really hard to tell the difference. So when someone's like, oh yeah, like Miller Highlife is piss. I'm like, fuck you. Miller Highlife is delicious. Highlife was my go-to for years and years and years. Cause I just, yeah, absolutely. It's a champagne of beers. What more do you want? Absolutely. Well, or do you know Grain Belt Premium? Have you heard of that? I don't think I know that one. The It's really good. That's like a Minneapolis sort of very very cheap very light Beer, but yeah, we were just saying actually before we hit record that I'll speak for myself I don't want to speak for you, but I would actually prefer to drink a bush light over these like $15 super high alcohol beers that you like like a thick Yeah, lager or that stuff or like you mean like the I like IPA The When people drink the fucking voodoo Rangers Dude, they're like 9% I'm like are you trying to kill me right now? I don't know man I I got into the craft beer IPA thing pretty heavily About was it probably like 10 years ago now and that was like everybody's like oh I would never drink Of course light what a bunch of piss and you know everyone's like talking about who were the big players like stone brewery a brewing or dogfish head or these were like the cool I drank a for a while and after a while it was like a hot day outside and I was like I just I don't want to drink a double IPA right yes I'm just gonna drink a corona and it's gonna be delicious so yeah I'm a little out off off the IPAs now but I'm sure we got lots of people screaming at their radio well those those people are wrong and I just want to let you know you know where to find me I am NOT gonna back down on this opinion absolutely but bush light is blowing your stuff out of the water so The end of the show. I haven't even gotten into the building up your stats and character and the whole insider connected save your game progress side of it yet. I just enjoy the game for shooting it and the toys in it and stuff. It's a lot of fun. For sure. I actually told him this and I think he took it as the compliment that I meant it as. The game is always up in the middle whether it's Stranger Things or Attack from Mars or Madness. So yeah it is cool that he has this switch because I don't know all the shots are really fun in the game and I like that it isn't a fan layout either. And it's which which is I wonder about it because it almost seems like and this is me totally getting in his head he did not say anything about this but I wonder if part of the reason for that offset and then having right the middle shot is actually sort of a so there's the captive ball there that is like the dice roll thing and and then there's the excuse me there's the spinner that goes into basically a scoop that is sort of how you start every mode it's it's like the The pause for a lot of the game, a lot of it starts there. And I wonder if it was like he knew, like programming wise, that they would have to have that shot very accessible to like move the story along. And so even though a main mech would sort of be in that area, he knew he would kind of have to have that there and like figure out the rest of it. I don't know. So I yeah, I think also probably once they figured out that they wanted the dragon to shoot balls out of its mouth. Yeah, there's probably limitations if the dragon was too far back. Is that like cool for you or are you kind of like, does that bring up weird things? I'm a little jaded for a few years, but I'm very excited. New York has been really great with baseball the last couple years, and I'm turning myself back into a baseball fan, so opening day is basically a holiday. And, you know, playing for them as well kind of sets me into New York being a fan of them. But, you know, as I say fan very loosely, I'm more of just like I will follow baseball stories from around the league more than I will follow and die hard with one team. But I think it's funny, a lot of people in the pinball life around New York don't know that I play and I don't tell people that I play baseball. So just randomly I'll have somebody like, hey wait, what did you just say? You played where? And they're like, oh yeah, I played for the Mets. And they're like, in the minor Leagues? Right, yeah. It's really funny when that news finally breaks for some people. This is a credit to being an unassuming person. I think this translates between baseball and even pinball as people who can turn on that focus and execution that it takes to succeed in those environments. I see that in pinball players as well. Maybe not like, you know, it's obviously different. Facing a batter and being like, he's trying to do whatever he can to murder this pitch, right? You have to be like locked in but how do you use emotion and use the things that you're feeling you know in the moment but still allow yourself to kind of focus up and like do the thing that you have to do and execute? Well a lot of those things in the in baseball and that I learned for you know my entire you know young adult life playing baseball is is just about repetition the more you do it you know the better you're gonna be in the moment and the more you fuck up The more you fail, the better you're going to get and the more insight you're going to have. But I think about the parallels between baseball and pinball all the time and just kind of try to put myself in a certain kind of mindset of not being too nervous or just enjoying the moment when it's happening. and there's just a lot of like you know when for baseball like I'm running onto the field in a like a tie ball game and there's runners on base like that shit can really eat you alive but you know if I'm down half a billion points on the third ball you know in a competition and I need to score I can't be like whoa this is this is too much I can't handle this right so there's just there's just like so much that I'm like all right like I kinda like put my hat down a little more. I get a little mean mug and you know, you just kinda have to work it. It's funny because you know, I'm a professional musician, right? So I have the same elements of nerves in my life, I guess. Like you know, when you go on stage and sometimes like you go on stage, you don't really have the voice that day, right? Like you're not 100%. Same way that you might come into, you know, a tie, a tie ball game and you might have pitched like, you know, you pitched a lot of games in 2009. And that was more nerve-wracking to me than going into my debut in Philadelphia where there was like 45,000 people. Like I could care less about 45,000 people. Isn't it weird too how like I'll play a big show or something and it would be like thousands of people or whatever, but if like my mom's there, it's like everything's different, you know? It's like one person Can change your feel of it too. It's like it's it's such a strange strange thing. Yeah, you know in a roundabout way I'll kind of full circle this a little bit once I kind of got in the mood of just like enjoying the noise of You know stadiums and things like that like to where nerves didn't really matter Nerves didn't really bother me from an outside perspective. So, you know, I think I Can't even remember I to be honest with you the first time I actually saw a cabinet I can't either. Yeah. I think the first time I really started playing pinball was at pinballs in Austin. I'm from Texas, but I lived in Austin in the baseball off seasons and I had this ritual with whoever wanted to be on board. We'd go, I'd go bowling around like noon or one o'clock and then I'd go straight to pinballs right after that and just hang out there all day. I don't know if it is anymore, but it's BYOB. Oh, nice. And that's just perfect. Yeah. But yeah, I would play tons of, you know, my brother was there, we'd be, we'd spend, you know, 10 bucks playing the Ninja Turtles four player game. Yeah. And, or the Simpsons game. Yeah. But I would definitely kind of trail off and still to this day, I think my favorite cabinet and the last one that is there is Champions Pub. ChampionsPub just ripped. It was just one of the layout and when the guy turned around and you could fight him I was so captivated with the jump rope the speed bag like that just kind of lit me up a little bit into kind of the possibilities of what a pinball machine could be That game is stacked with like how much stuff is just in it. Yeah, I mean I think it was really fun to hear from a professional athlete about how focus and channeling your emotions and those kind of things really translate to pinball and It's something that I've always kind of suspected or talked about but um It's cool to hear someone who like really did that stuff for a living. I'm like the highest level Talk about that. So that was really cool for me Yeah, I want to talk to someone like Tom Graf I'm gonna play the intro a little bit, like how nervous does that guy get? You know when he's when he's in a pinball tournament cuz he's done so many and he's like such a good player like I do wonder you know if once you get to a certain level of whatever you're doing where the where the nerves like land you know yeah or if it's just because you know oh we haven't you know he's new to competitive pinball so he's more nervous than he was on the mound I don't know I don't know well it's interesting right because I don't know if you felt this way about performance like playing show Shane but like I always get nervous The I by the time I'm like hitting the stage that turns into energy to like fuel the Performance and I feel like a percent Yeah And I feel like that's probably what those guys are like right they found the best way to channel all that sort of nervous energy That you get beforehand into it and luckily for me I was not the brunt of anything bad for Tom griff because he's such a master of it because I The If those roles would have been reversed and it was Tom Graff walking up to me I would have been yeah, it's such a imagine.
