TL;DR

Carrie Hardy covers Expo 2024 announcements: Raza confirmed as Dutch's next game, BTTF units reserved for Alice owners.

Summary

Carrie Hardy livestreams from Pinball Expo 2024, interviewing attendees and providing on-floor commentary about game reactions. Key announcements include Dutch Pinball's Raza (333 units, Feb/March reveal) as their next title after Alice, with the first 500 Back to the Future units reserved for Alice owners as a loyalty reward. She reports strong enthusiasm for Winchester (Barrels of Fun) with long lines, moderate interest in Pinball Brothers' Predator (production ends Dec 31 due to licensing), and observes Stern's lower draw compared to smaller manufacturers.

And We Are Pinball live! Let's let some people crawl in here. People are getting off work. I'm sure there may be other content creators out there right now going live, so they may be preoccupied by going to them. But I figure let's get on here for a bit and talk to people. What's going on, John Mosley? I figure let's go around, talk to some people, and get some feedback on some of the games. What's going on, Eric? Now, if there's anything I've learned over my time doing this is that a lot of people don't like being on camera. A lot of people don't like talking to people right here. So it's like we're going to try to see if we can get some feedback from people. Be a little bit of an experiment. Could be a good thing. Could go horribly wrong. But I definitely want to get feedback from those that have played Winchester. Because what's going on, Aiden? What's up? Doing good. So if you are at Expo right now, find me. Come find me. I've got a microphone for you. Let's talk about what we're seeing and what we're playing at Pinball Expo. I've currently got a mic on me as well as one to hand over to anybody else that decides to find me. Although if you're going and getting on my live when you're at Pinball Expo walking around this game room, you should be enjoying some pinball. Or enjoy conversations with people about pinball. What's going on, guys? Ravcon! USMC! It feels like I need to adjust this thing because it keeps wanting to go to the left. I'm probably going to have to shimmy this thing over a little bit. I guess the weight's probably a little off-center. Yeah, there was a Sega box. I think that was customly made. I don't think that was legit. It might be. Is Winchester a game I would buy? No, it's not for me. not that it gets the game or it being bad or anything but it's just not a not a theme that speaks to me uh the gameplay although challenging is not my type of layout assuming another hold on let me see what my chat log says right here so here's some information for you guys in case i want to try to find somewhere i can sit in on my feet are already killing me. And then we can talk about whatever you guys want to talk about. It would be even Bob Betor if I didn't have to yell over everybody. But trying to find a The Place where not that much is going on can be a little challenging. So, if you were on I put this on my Patreon, but like, when it comes to what's going on with Dutch and DPX and Alice and what's of what their future titles are. This is the lowdown. You have Alice Adventures in Wonderland. That is currently DPX's title. And they are getting them out. They're currently about halfway through their run of 500 games. It's officially announced that DPX's next title will be Raza (alternate title or abbreviation for Retro Atomic Zombie Adventureland). Retroatomic Zombie Adventureland. And for those that know what that is, then you know what that is. But that is the official next title from DPX that is planned to be revealed around February or Christian Marche. There will be 333 of Adventureland)'s made. Price has yet to be determined. now there's like nobody going on over here i might just sit down at this person's booth but uh i don't want to sit down at someone's booth that feels like that's a little rude yeah maybe over here there's like nobody here i might just sit down here give me a The Place to sit down and rest my feet Adventureland) is cursed all right so 333 razas will be made should be released revealed around february Christian Marche hopefully melvin gives me the privilege of doing a featurette for that game I don't know. You have to be determined. But here's the kicker. Due to the fact that the 500 people that put into by Alice, you essentially kept Dutch Pinball alive. Okay? and due to those 500 people doing that they kind of want to reward that appreciation and so those 500 people that are registered as being the owner of the game through the distro and everything they will have the first like 500 the first 500 of dutch pinball's future title those first 500 are going to Alice owners. Now, if anybody is in the hobby well enough they should know that the very strong, rumored, and anything but official and confirmed Dutch's next title is Back to the Arcade Future. So, the first 500 Back to the Arcade futures will be going to the 500 owners of Alice in Vigilant Wonderland. I would love to see a documentary. What does this say here? When Carrie became American Pinball lover, the story about Carrie getting into pinball. I don't know. That would be a very probably boring story. I mean, although the very first game that I ever bought at the auction is over there on the The Other Side of the convention center. so with that being said Innovative Concepts (ICE) both sides of this because you have the first 500 that are like hell yeah we're going to have the first 500 of Back to the Arcade Future so I'll get my game within the first year because if anybody knows anything you know that Dutch Pinball does not move very fast when it comes to getting games out I mean it took them 10 years to get all their Lebowski games made so chances are Back to the Arcade Future is going to be another 10 years, if not longer. So what are your feelings about that? Can't wait for King Kong topper video. Yeah, they would drop a topper video when I'm out of town. I'm surprised that they don't have a topper for King Kong here at Expo. I would assume that they would have a topper on one of their King Kongs. And I did meet up with Keith earlier. It's all good. We're all good. He has yet to go to the shipping area to get my shirt that I sent him, but it's all good. It's what Haggis was trying to do, wasn't it? No. I mean, the thing is with Haggis is that they weren't really even getting their games out. And they weren't able to pay their bills. They were like robbing Peter to pay Paul, as we eventually found out. Whereas Dutch, I think a little bit of it has to do with the fact that they know that January 1st, people have the right to sell their spot or demand a refund. So I think this is also a little bit of them going, we need to hinder these refunds. So this is either going to stop the people from getting refunds due to the promise of being one of the first 500 to get Back to the Arcade future. Or two, you're going to see a price jump on people trying to The Flip their spots. I wish chat would always stay up it's so aggravating that it doesn't always stay up like all visible I don't know why what if they do a super special VTDF it's one of those where trust me I'm harping on it to get them to do like a special 88 SLE model kind of thing you know I mean can we have Pee Wee Big Adventure or Playhouse soon no stern play this is what's kind of funny guys being here on the floor talking amongst all the other fellow pinball enthusiasts seeing the enthusiasm across these smaller manufacturers turner pinball barrels of fun and we always we already know the love is there for spooky and everything and they have some special evil dead games here i'm not sure if you've seen them yet Maybe we'll go over there in a minute and I'll show you these special six games that they made specifically for Expo. But you go to Stern Pinball Inc. booth and you got one or two people around every one of their games. You know, they're constantly being played. But there's not like a line of excitement and people that can't wait to play a certain title from Stern Pinball. And if you go over there to Barrels of Fun There's a line wrapping around the tent Waiting to play Winchester Why can't I be on the list for BTTF? See if you can get you an Alice spot They molested Evil Ted No they improved it They changed the powder coating And I think that might be it But they have like a special powder coating on this particular Evil Dead here at Straight Down the Middle: a pinball show for six people. Yeah. That's the thing about Stern. It's like, yeah, they're everywhere. They've all seen it before. They don't have any new game. They could have brought The Walking Dead and you would have seen a long line for The Walking Dead. Maybe. if it's special enough, if it's something different, but if it's just The Walking Dead, that's where I'm like, I don't know. I really am curious to see the reception on The Walking Dead due to the fact that I don't know anybody, me personally, that loved Straight Down the Middle: a pinball show and would love to see a resurgence of The Walking Dead in American Pinball machine kind of thing. Whereas if you have, I don't know, Metallica, an ACDC, a Kiss, Something that's like all year round that doesn't really lose its mojo or anything. That would make More Brewing Company sense. Let's see here. With the success of Winchester, I'm so excited to see More Brewing Company crazy original IPs from barrels of fun in the future. Just hope they make More Brewing Company than 500. Yeah, I think you're going to see bigger IPs from barrels going forward, though. the way David talks he speaks as if like this title is like yeah he's aware that this is not like a big banger IP but the ones that they've got lined up for the next four or five years are evidently bangers I don't know and I honestly do not know what his next titles are use your superpowers for good convince Stern to make a big trouble on the little China table yeah And that's the thing with Stern is that they can't do niche titles like that. They can't. Every game that they make needs to sell thousands upon thousands because their overhead is so high. They cannot take a risk on a small IP like that. I hope I'm not interrupting somebody's step over here. I might be, but I'm sitting at somebody's table. but uh I guess he could walk a little bit slower but I know for a fact that there's a couple of distros that are sold out here at Straight Down the Middle: a pinball show like Learning to The Flip out they sold out of their games they ordered More Brewing Company and they sold out of those and I think they got maybe 50 maybe don't quote me on that but I know that they did say that they ordered a good amount and then they sold out of those so as far as like how many distros are sold out i do see it does seem like that the distros are now selling out so eventually it will truly be sold out not sold through but sold out now i'm curious to get feedback from the people that have played winchester here at Straight Down the Middle: a pinball show though oh yeah thoughts on predator so i finally did play predator about 15 minutes 15 20 minutes ago i got off a predator and i basically started setting up for this so the way they have this game set up and i'm not sure if this is how it is on all the games that they've shipped out but you cannot put in More Brewing Company than one player at a time so they made it to where it's one player goes three balls and then the next player goes kind of thing Innovative Concepts (ICE) the pros and cons on that but uh my game was okay but i definitely didn't hit all the shots like there's still shots on that play field that i have not experienced yet so i don't want to say that the game sucks and i definitely don't want to say that the game is great so I'm kind of like in the middle of just like yeah it's okay if I never play the game again what I feel regret no I just don't want to wait forever in line it took me about 30 minutes because I didn't think the line was very long but it took over 30 minutes for me to get to play the game did they fix the Arnold voice actor I don't know I don't I never got to the point to where I could hear it, man. I never heard it inzo. But, uh, yeah. So we're gonna see other games that have yet to be played or anything. We'll go from there. I do not know why people are coming this direction, but oh well. I've gone to an area where I don't think anybody should go, but they still find a way to come over here and walk around, but whatever. Expo versus TPF versus pinball at the beach. Depends on what you're talking about. The way I look at it is every show has something that another show doesn't have. Expo is More Brewing Company of like your Industry Arcade type of show. All the main manufacturers are located right here in Chicago. So you're going to get a higher and larger presence from them and visiting from them and stuff. Whereas TPF, you do have a presence from the manufacturers, but not like they are here at Expo. And it's like, this is coming from somebody who lives in Texas, who loves TPF, has gone to TPF over The Last Arcade decade, every damn weekend, brought games to shows every weekend for The Last Arcade decade. there has been a little bit of a downside in my enthusiasm towards it and that could be due to a change in management the way that Straight Down the Middle: a pinball show is being ran now certain decisions have been made to where i'm not as excited as i used to be pinball at the beach is a dog friendly resort but um when it comes to pinball at the beach that is definitely rising up to be my new favorite show. And I guess a part of that is because it's Straight Down the Middle: a pinball show that my wife enjoys going to. She doesn't have to be around pinball machines or around me and the pinball crew and talking pinball. She can go to the beach and relax or whatever kind of thing. And I definitely drink a lot More Brewing Company at pinball at the beach because there's always like some sort of gathering going on and some sort of sponsor has bought drinks for that time period or whatever. How's The homebrew section, as far as I'm aware, it's cooking. But I want to say, we'll go over there and check it out here in a second, guys. I'll give you guys, basically, you'll be in charge of where I go. But yeah, Pinball at the Beach has become my new favorite show to go to. Because of the sights, and it's just kind of like a vacation, if anything else. It's really nice. It's not overly crowded because it's exclusive, so it's only limited to 1,000 people. So there's that also. I wish they would have American Pinball expo after or before IAAPA. I don't know, man. It's one of those things where I know that people that run these shows, it's not an easy task. So it's a matter of just getting somebody that's willing to take charge and put Straight Down the Middle: a pinball show together. It's not something that's easy to do. Any showrunner will tell you that it's not like, oh, yeah, all I got to do is just make some phone calls and it's good to go. No, it's a lot of work. And then behind the scenes, deep in the nitty and gritty that a lot of people don't know about in this Industry Arcade is that there is a lot of beef between certain vendors and certain manufacturers that there's discussions that go on behind the scenes when they see the floor plans. Like, oh, I don't want to be next to this particular manufacturer. Oh, I cannot be next to this particular vendor because they screwed us over this way or they did this. They said that. There's a lot of drama that you guys that don't know about it, bless you. Ignorance is bliss. But I can tell you right now, there is a lot of beef between people in this Industry Arcade that it's just best to just not know about. It's a little crazy. It's a little bit like, really? but it is what it is kind of thing but I think so far the most popular interest I'm seeing is the Winchester game I'm just chilling out at your little area right here man getting my feet you do whatever you want to do no one's going to pitch for you I was getting ready to get up anyways I was like I'm going to rest my feet for a little bit knowing no one was here. I was like, all right, as long as it, I sold it. All right, we're going to mosey along here. Oh, my knees. All right. So is there anything that you guys, the first 20 minutes was me jibber jabbing. Yeah. Is there anything in particular that you guys want to see? Is there a certain machine, a certain thing? Have you guys seen the mothership? Let me turn this around. Let me get this out of the way. The bar? Yeah. I'll be heading there next. So yep. For those that didn't see it on the stream this morning, in order to get these big ass Flippers Arcade to do their job. We have a compressor down here that runs very silently. Am I really getting a Harry Potter? I believe so. That is the plan. No, Raza (alternate title or abbreviation for Retro Atomic Zombie Adventureland) and everything won't be revealed until what they're saying, Christian Marche, like February at the earliest. But this is the homebrew area. Honestly, it's not as crowded as I was expecting it to be. But I think a lot of people are starting to head towards Interium at the moment. What's going on, Randy? Randy? Randy may not like me for crapping on his artwork in the past. I don't know. He may not. We may be okay. But it's not as busy over here as I was expecting it. Rasputin Welcome to the chat So yeah I was expecting like a big old 'ramps' or similar playfield features of interest on playing these homebrews but it's honestly not as busy as expected. So this is a little bit surprising. We'll see how it looks tomorrow. I would like to go to all of these homebrewers tomorrow and have them basically talk about their game. Big trouble, bro. Big trouble is right over here. This asshole right here. Live streaming right now? Yeah, man. I got our circus topper in here, but you can't film it. Why not? Because I don't want your video being the first video. Not what Carrie does. Carrie does really good video. I'm not ready for that. Well, come on. I showed everybody the Alice topper on accident before everybody else. Hey, check it out. We're going to take a Conquer (as in Conquer Multiball). We're going to hold it for them, and they're going to take a gun. Alright, so here's Big Trouble in Little China. For those of you that don't know this, I was the first person to play this other than the creator yesterday. Oh, today. Today, I'm sorry. I'm going to try to make sure I don't get in the view of the 'side line' or 'curves'. People get a little cranky about that. Little Maine? Yeah. No, I don't think this is a re-thing. Yes, the center post moves. If they push the action button... Oh! Or not. Or no push it. But if they push that center button right there, it'll nudge the ball if you do it right. Oh! Bitch, man. I like this. All right, Mike's going to beat the game for us now. Yeah, I definitely see the resemblance there, Crackaroo. who's done the call outs they pulled a lot of call outs from the movie but they've also done the actor in the movie I forgot what the actor's name is but they did hire the actor to do call outs That actor right there The guy that plays his buddy in the movie How's it holding up man? They were asking if it was a re-theme. This is all custom. This is an original layout. Original layout, guys. So I've got some parts and pieces from other games. Uh-huh. But, yeah, it's an original layout. Woo, moving that game around. There's no Tilt Forums bob (also called Tilt Forums pendulum or Tilt Forums mechanism). Yeah, there's There may not be a It slides really good across this floor, just so you guys know. Alright, what do you guys want to see? I know earlier on the stream I did not show you Predator So I guess we'll walk over there And we'll show you this fucking game They've got it underneath this canopy over here They've got a total of three of them I want to say Two underneath the canopy and one on the outside Yeah, these people right here They're going to be waiting for probably 30 minutes to an hour. Yeah. All right. Maybe I can get over here and get a little bit of footage for you. Oh, thank you very much. Without getting in his way, I don't want to block his... He looks like a serious player. He's going to beat the game. You字 comprendrebl scholarом truckje? Caro moha h I was thinking about youtube I thought Wise man just bother me I don't know if it's a predator or a monster No, I don't know either I don't know if it's a lizard I don't know I don't know But he's the thing Oh! Awesome So there is Predator guys So for those that do not know, Predator will no longer be made after the 31st of December. They're only going to make as many as they can before the end of the year. After the end of the year, they can't make any More Brewing Company due to contract restrictions. The contract runs out at the end of the year. Man, somebody smells really good. like a really, you know, just really good. Which is a really good experience. You get, every once in a while, you get the bad BO, but completely down for whoever smelled like that. Look at this. This is live for Winchester right here, guys. For this one. Alright, what do you guys want to see? Alright, let's see. My walking is in your hands. Too bright, can't see the playfield Yeah, that's the thing And that's all inside the game They like their own damn playfield More Brewing Company homebrew? Well, the homebrew I'm going to do a dedicated stream tomorrow In regards to homebrew I'm going to get up close and personal with all the homebrew people I don't know. They might be at the Media Mixer. They might not be. I think that's where I'm about to head towards. I think that's going on right now. But yeah, this is another line for Winchester. Look at this. Josh, Arcade Edition. That is the best Ben Heck or similar name for buck. So that's what I'm getting. So yep, the line is going all the way around and then it goes over here. Basically, yeah. Can you zoom in on the old Dune Trans Line? Oh yeah, sorry about that. Let me get you on that one. I don't want to get over her 'side line' or 'curves'. I don't know if I can zoom in or not. Let me see. Let me get behind her. Got a lot of reflections. I think I've seen this back glass before. Reminds me of the brown eye. If you don't think dirty, then yeah, it looks Papa Duke good. Tomorrow morning, huh? Just ruined it. You got Turner Pinball over here. Got all their Ninja Eclipse. And the Merlin's Arcade. Oh, let me zoom out. No, man, play, man. Looks like they took off the pin access cell phones already. What happened with the pin access? We've got it on these two. I just took the phones off. So if people want to see it, I'm showing. All I find is Papa Duke plain. Okay I didn know you were worried about people taking them kind of thing also There a little bit of chance of that I can see that yeah Also I think I need to put videos out so people understand Sometimes people just walk it up and play it Yeah they just think someone just left their phone there Yeah Yeah. All right. Well, so what's the response been like so far? Good. Good? We got all these sold. Hell yeah. There you go. Now if people want it, they can order it. We can ship it to them. There you go. That's all you got to do. That's all you got to do. It's a buy game. It's as easy as that. I have to ship one to you, Karen. All right. So, what do we want to see now, guys? But, yeah, definitely by the end of tonight, I'll get a good perspective from all the other people that have played the games, like Winchester, all the other media guys, and see what they think about the game. I'm definitely curious to see what everybody's talking about. Last year, it was surprisingly enough, people were talking about Ninja Eclipse and Metallica. So, kind of curious to see what everybody else is talking about and excited about. But, where are we going on? 35 minutes here? Where's ABBA? I don't think there's an ABBA here, guys. There is no ABBA. They only shipped, I think, two Predators. And I think we're lucky we got that. Yeah, just look around Stern Pinball Inc. area. You're going to see about onesies, twosies on every machine. I wonder if I should go over there and have a big ol' conversation with Seth or not. How many sterns did they bring? 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40. I don't know, somewhere between 40 and 50. Well, this is also Thursday night. I think the 'ramps' or similar playfield features really starts pouring in tomorrow and Saturday. So remember that. Let me show you these Evil Deads that you guys probably haven't seen the powder coating on. Just in time for everybody to see. So yeah, these are a show special. You've got six of these here and these are American Pinball expo special. Only six of these are going to have this type of powder coating evidently. And yes, you are going to pay for it. I think there's 16,000 each. Or there's 16,500. Wow. got two or three of them are sold so far but yeah there's 16.5 all right guys 16k pinball is too expensive. Not for everybody. Oh, let me crouch down here. Turn it around. Other way. I believe that's the only difference. Oh, that's going to be part of the homebrew section commercial. That'll be tomorrow. I'm going to do a dedicated stream only to homebrew. If I do like homebrew As well as a tour kind of thing It'll be one of those where it's like Hey go to the homebrew section at this time mark Whereas if I do a dedicated homebrew video Then that video can be shared To people that are really into homebrew So tomorrow I hope to go around Talk to all the people that have created A particular game Get an overview But I'm watching Connecticut tomorrow He won't be up all the time I'll be in there in and out But if not, you can always watch the video on demand. But I think I'm going to wrap this stream up. I mean, I don't know if there's anything else that you guys want to see or talk about. I mean, I don't know what all news is going to be released between now and then. But I don't think we're going to have anything ice-breaking. But the GAP ads have all the mods, too. But I want to say right now the interium with the media mixer is going on. So I think I'm going to head that way and go shoot the shit with all my fellow friends. The Portal is here. There's only one of them. One The Portal. But, yeah. All right, guys. I'm going to wrap this up. Go get me some More Brewing Company drinks. I don't know. I'm feeling a little Randy. Maybe I might go again. Go live again. A little intoxicated. I don't know. We'll see how it goes. It's real pinball. It's just got a really big monitor underneath everything. If you play The Portal, it's their best game yet. I did play Predator, yeah. I'll be fine not playing it again. It doesn't like suck But I'm not waiting in line To play that game again It's the best game but that's a low bar Maybe I didn't have a problem with Final Resistance That one was Papa Duke good I liked that one Heist was Papa Duke good as well. I just haven't been sold on the platform yet. Go play and throw a ball. The whirl a ball. I'm curious if it's going. Okay, I don't know if it's going yet. I'm going to walk over there. Are we going to take bets on if it's working or not working? Tell me now in chat. Do a one in chat if you think they are working and zero if you think they are not working. I'm guessing not working. Let's find out if they're working and we'll end the video on that note to see if they are up or not. I don't hear any ding sounds of people rolling the ball, so let's go find out, shall we? Alright. Let's The Flip the camera around. Alright, guys. I don't know. I'm not hearing anybody rolling any balls. Look, we got people playing fucking darts. But no one's playing fucking whirl a ball. Oh. Oh. Oh my god. They might be working. Oh my god. One of them is working. Are they both working? Yeah. They're both working? Alright. Let's start this bad baby up. Show me how it's done. By the way, I don't work. Yeah, you do. You're the spokesperson. Spokesperson. Well, get them all. All but one. What I did here, they're going to update the code eventually where it's going to be blinking blue shots and you want to try to hit the blue shots. Okay. That'd be kind of cool. Yeah, he said there could be different types of modes on there and everything. All right, let me try. You want to hold this for me for a moment? Absolutely. Let me give it a whirl. Let me give it a whirl on the whirl ball. Did I The Break it? I did hit start. How you doing? All right. All right. Damn it. I'm trying to get that 10. got that 10 did just the same as you but the other 10 is what you didn't get and that my friends is world of ball and I lost half my viewers alright guys let's end the stream on this note thank you for tuning in uh later on figure out what you guys want to see or what you want to talk about or whatever if i go live again tonight we'll see but i think i'm gonna go get me some More Brewing Company drinks get me some More Brewing Company food i don't get it basically on that particular mode you had to like roll the ball and try to get the the power yeah it's it's it's it's there all right i'll talk to guys later love you long time bye
