  • Pins I little critical of the Bon Jovi IP.
    0:23
But I think we're going to change some hearts right now. This game is seriously is super fun. It's got awesome mix. The layout is super fun. The lighting show, the new audio system that's in it. The rules from Phil. I mean it's got an outlane ball save flipper. Like that's crazy stuff. It's super fun. Let's dive in.
    0:39
All right. Start a game. Um Let's talk about the tutorials. Every song in the game, there's nine songs that are launching with the game have a tutorial to show you exactly what you need to do during the song. So you should be you know for beginners, advanced players, whoever, they'll know exactly how to play the game when they step up to it. For now, let's start with Runaway and see where the game takes us. Sweet.
    1:03
I'm going to take you on a little trip.
    1:05
And almost a skill shot. I got it. Yeah.
    1:07
And you heard Bon Jovi immediately as soon as you plunge. And Bon Jovi, the call outs are not AI. They're not some voice actor double. They're all from real concert footage. We [music] got hours, 20-30 hours of concert footage and I come through all of it to find the best pinball moments that we could pull out and kind of rework into the game. Uh so Carl just lit his scoop which is the leveling system that's in this and you got it.
    1:32
    And
    1:33
I can choose to keep playing the song, move on. I mean rock on or move [music] on to the next song. I'm going to rock on. Uh it's going to increase the value and also earn a perk. So perks are
    1:44
    [music]
    1:44
earned in in all the songs and they stay with you for it throughout the game once [music] you earn them. So stuff like increased combo values, increased [music] the heart shot values, stuff like that. Um they be really good to kind of
    1:59
    [music]
    1:59
cater your experience to how you play. And every song has a unique perk. And similar to kind of like a rogue like or a board game, you can plan
    2:06
    [music]
    2:06
going through what songs you want to try to stack the perks you want cuz you have them for the whole game. Wow, we got to talk about the outlane flipper save since you just saved it. I got to save, yes. So, my outlane flipper was lit. [music] You can see it by the two lightning bolts down here. They're off right now, but when they're on, that flipper will activate when you drain down the left outlane. You can crowd surf and save your ball. You can relight it in one of the most interesting mechs. The crowd cheer mech. So, this is a Newton ball with a captive ball and a spinner behind it. So, I just relit it so you can see those lightning bolts are lit. By shooting that, it's a loop-de-loop. So, you hit the ball, it goes through a spinner and through a loop-de-loop.
    2:46
A literal full vertical orbit. It's really cool.
    2:48
Exactly. You can't really see it well here, but there's going to be plenty of other footage of the game that you can check out. Um, and we got to talk about the lighting system.
    2:55
I mean, Trent and Eric absolutely nailed it. Similar to Dune and Winchester, this is the same team essentially that worked on Dune. Uh, and this is the next level for that lighting system. They're curated for each song. They play start to finish, interact [music] with the actual song. It's not loops. It's just It's designed for each song. Very cool stuff.
    3:17
Ah, you just got love scoring. This is another one of the scoring opportunities in the game, stuff that can stack.
    3:22
Right, I've love ramps already running and
    3:25
I get this, I'll get love spinner from the
    3:27
Yeah, love spinner. So, that's the spinner up top which I missed.
    3:30
    [music]
    3:31
Close to hitting it. Um, but these are little bonus like side quest kind of things that are awarded in your bonus. And it's going to drain down. I saved
    3:40
And you did get a mystery award there, too. You can also hear a Tommy and Gina, that's [music] the two characters that are in the game. There's full callouts for everything. Uh, and we also have
    3:49
    [music]
    3:49
Too busy watching Carl. I really want you to rip that love spinner, man. You got to do it.
    3:52
I'm trying I'm trying to get through the heart. [laughter] Just keep missing the heart, though.
    3:56
Uh we'll do team shout-outs in the meantime. So, like I said, this is the same team that brought you Dune, you know, you've got David and Luke who designed it, Luke being the engineer.
    4:03
    [music]
    4:03
Uh Parker was the electrical engineer on it. Phil and Jess did the rule set for it. Eric and Trent were responsible Eric did programming and Trent did a video editorial, but they also worked in conjunction to work on the lighting effects system. Uh and then Joshua did all the LCD artwork on the panels and motion graphics. And uh of course we've got Johnny crap doing the playfield cabinet and back glass. Boy, good save. Uh don't forget about yourself.
    4:26
Right. And of course I did the audio package. I did was the audio director on it. Called all of the call-outs, recorded call-outs, pretty much anything that works with audio. [music]
    4:37
And thanks to the new sound system, it's really incredible that the game sounds amazing. You got to hear it in person.
    4:42
The sub box that helps re-pressure like direct the pressure from putting outside of the game instead of inside, keeps the game from rattling, so you can play it loud and not have to worry about glass vibrating.
    4:54
All right, so you finish the song outright, which then ends the mode and automatically goes into your next song.
    5:00
    All right. Here we go.
    5:05
    [music]
    5:07
Actually, you know what? I don't
    5:08
    on.
    5:08
I I don't really care for Bad Medicine too much, so I'm going to move on.
    5:12
    [music]
    5:13
Which you have the choice to.
    5:13
    I have a choice, yeah.
    5:15
But you would still get the perk. So, you would get the Bad Medicine perk and you will move on to the next song. And third song is always going to be Living on a Prayer because that's halfway through your set list. You have a set list of five songs. As you can see over here on your set list. Um So, I am halfway. So, Living on a Prayer.
    5:32
Can we talk about what's available at launch?
    5:34
At launch, this all nine songs that are you see on the guitar there are available at launch.
    5:44
Nice. You got enough spins to relight. [music] You can see his outline slipper lightning bolts lighted and now he's got to be he's able to reset it. But that's also not the only thing that has lightning bolts on them in this game.
    5:55
Oh, that's right. There's uh these are lightning flippers if you can't tell.
    5:58
    [music]
    6:00
Lightning flippers are slightly shorter uh than regular flipper flippers flipplers uh which make them way snappier and uh yeah, I don't know. It just worked really well for this game.
    6:09
Yeah, the design team thought they if the game shot better with them. Um first game in a long time to actually ship from the factory with lightning flippers.
    6:18
Bringing them back, baby. Uh so you can see the red arrow in the upper right, too, which is notifying you that the diverter is on. So it's really important [music] to be able to know when that upper flipper is going to be fed and yeah, big old red arrow going to help you out.
    6:35
    [music]
    6:40
All right, you're going to grand champ in this.
    6:42
I'm going to what? I'm never going to get that off now. Aha. I'm almost to love frenzy. That's kind of what I'm shooting for.
    6:52
And I mean, I know that some people were disappointed hearing that this is the Bon Jovi IP, but I think when they play this game that it's going to change their mind cuz it's just it's it's seriously freaking fun.
    7:04
    [music]
    7:05
    Nice.
    7:07
    There's that spinner.
    7:10
And you just smashed a you're going to have a huge bonus ramp, too, because you got love scoring on the ramps. Actually, you closed them out cuz you shot them enough.
    7:18
    Yeah.
    7:19
    [music]
    7:20
Uh there's some moments in the game. That's right. You want to talk about the moments?
    7:24
Uh you shoot the um the um front the back merch booth. Jeez, why do I I can't remember the name of that shot though.
    7:31
calling it the con shot because it's very similar to the con shot on Shadow.
    7:36
But yeah, you shoot that and you start a moment. The beach ball, you know, floating around the crowd. Um Crowd start doing the wave.
    7:44
I like you just casually passed by my favorite shot in the game. I don't know if you saw that. Carl hit the left orbit and just held the upper right flipper up and it just [music] directs it into the merch booth. Like that.
    7:55
Super satisfying. Uh just It really [music] The game flows, man. This game's awesome.
    8:01
All right. Want to shoot the heart right now. The heart will raise up and I'm gone. Bye. And that's That's it.
    8:08
I don't know, man. I feel like you pretty much showed everything that you could possibly do in a good run of Bon Jovi. That was a solid ball.
    8:15
    It was great.
    8:16
    absolutely a solid ball.
    8:17
    Yeah.
    8:18
Could be a better bonus multiplier. I didn't hit the crowd cheer too much, but it was a good meltdown.
    8:24
We wanted and this is like a '90s meltdown style. We David talked about it in his interview, but a lot of this game is inspired from some of the heydays of '90s pins. [music]
    8:35
    Didn't quite complete orbit.
    8:38
No, but you got almost full
    8:40
    quarter million bonus.
    8:41
    Amazing.
    8:42
Well, I think that's enough. If you want to see this [music] yourself, you can check it out at Southern Fried Gaming Expo and yeah.
    8:48
Yeah. Go to the show, play the games. There'll be several of them there and then find wherever it is when you when they start shipping.
    8:57
Yeah. Play it loud, enjoy it and yeah. From all of us at Barrels of Fun, have a good one.
    9:02
    All right.
    9:04
    Yeah.
