positive(0.78)— Kaneda is enthusiastic about Metallica Remastered quality and market potential, using superlatives like 'masterpiece' and 'modern miracles.' However, he expresses critical concern about marketing timing, sympathy for older Metallica LE owners facing depreciation, and skepticism about whether premium editions will sell well given newbie buyer losses on recent LEs. Mixed feelings on James Cameron's Avatar (LE) and Brian Eddy's design promises temper overall optimism.

Only 500 stern LEs. This week we have a special edition of the game. I'm going to show you the game in action. The game is called Metallica Remastered. It's been 4-5 years since we've only had 500 Stern LEs and now it is official. Metallica Remastered. Only 500 LEs. Is it going to sell out? Of course it's going to sell out. I was on Nitro's page. It's been a while since I had a video on how to play. So this is how it used to be. Games were spoken for before they were even revealed by the manufacturer. And if you were lucky enough to get one, then you had something that way More Brewing Company people wanted than there was supply and then the games went up in price instantly on the secondhand market. Here's what I'm not so sure about. That at a $13,000 starting price, these things are going to go north of that. Here's the crazy part everybody and I don't even need to like hype this game. It's Metallica. It's a Lyman Sheets masterpiece. Here's what I know about this game that no one else has told you. This game is going to have the original code. It's also going to have expanded code. That's why they're calling it remastered. And here's another thing that All of the accessories are going to be available on day one. The topper will be available on day one. Everything, the shooter Rods, the armor, everything. So if you want to order your game with everything you want, you're going to be able to get it on day one. It's going to have all new artwork as well. I heard this thing sold through to dealers in 10 minutes, right? 10 minutes. It's sold through to all All the dealers I spoke to today, they were just trying to get More Brewing Company. They've been so used to having a thousand that their allocations, all of their allocations got cut in half on a game that's going to have way More Brewing Company demand than John Wick, than X-Men, than Venom. It's Metallica and you know I almost feel bad for Jack Danger that this thing is hitting right on top of his moment. microphone This week we have a lot More Brewing Company than 500 and Metallica is just a masterpiece it is just a masterpiece and they're gonna make it even Bob Betor so it's a no-brainer if you can get your hands on one there's probably no safer bet recently in the pinball world so that's exciting we're gonna see this Game On Arcade Wednesday we also now know I think it's been like four years Cactus Canyon is finally getting that big This week's topic is the code update that everyone has been waiting for and Mr. Roger Sharpe teased all the different modes that are going into the game. They look really fun. They look really awesome. But there's still just something about Cactus Canyon with the DMD dots. There's something about it's just looking dated. It just does. I get it. It's a beautiful pin. It is a world under glass. It is filled with mechanisms. I mean, look how many mechs are in Cactus Canyon. I'm going to go look at how many mechs are in a $15,000 avatar or a $13,000 John Wick, right? It crazy how loaded Cactus Canyon is But unfortunately there just so much happening in pinball that stuff can feel a little like obsolete and outdated I John Papadiuk Black Water Kaneda's Pinball Podcast Twippies Awards translite (artwork panel in backbox that is backlit during play) Concert footage and new animations. A lot has changed in pinball since Metallica was such a beloved pin. This is the part that I'm really curious about to see how the community responds. Because back when Metallica came out, you have to remember there was no like hand drawn illustrated artwork on machines back then. That's when Stern was doing all the ugly clipart drag and drop. And then they did it different ways. P mossy uva cinema, It was inKRETible, but how do you make Metallica wow people again? In a world in which music pins have now had stuff like Elton John, and Guns N' Roses, and Foo Fighters, right? We've come a long way. Iron Maiden, right? I forgot Iron Maiden. We've come a long way in which some of the most spectacular pinball machines that are based on musical acts have really raised the bar. So I'm excited to see it. I know there's new sculpts in the game, new artwork, new LCD stuff happening, the sound's gonna be Bob Betor, so it's gonna be like Metallica on crack. But the bar has been raised and it's gonna sell out instantly. It's gonna be fun to watch people like try to claw over each other to get one. And it just feels like the good old FOMO days are back. And I'm gonna be curious to see how Stern communicates this one a bit because remember, they said they I think they were never going to make More Brewing Company LEs of games that already had LEs. So what exactly is this then? I think they're going to consider it enough of a new game. I think what they meant by their older statement was like if we've made 500 Jurassic parks, we're not going to make 500 More Brewing Company of the exact same game with just different cabinet artwork. I think they're going to look at this as an entirely new game or like Metallica 2.0. And I think when people see it, I think we're going to agree with them that we didn't catch Stern in a lie. They simply found a big enough loophole to make More Brewing Company LEs. If you own a Metallica LE, I feel your pain because if you love this band and you want I'm going to have the nicest version of Metallica and you've had it all these years. You got your le for probably $6500 right and you've seen it now be worth like at the height of COVID a Metallica le 16,000 right you've seen a 10,000 increase in price. You might have to slash off around like six to $7,000 now because I don't know who's going to want the old one if the new one does everything yours does. And does it even Bob Betor. So that's exciting. We've got the Cactus Canyon code. Feels a little day late and a dollar short on that game. Man, doesn't it all of a sudden feel like X-Men is yesterday's news? Avatar is yesterday's news. Alice's Adventures in Wonderland all of a sudden feels like it happened a long time ago. We're a very fickle group of people. The good news is for Metallica buyers, You gonna get your game in November If games go on the line in November Stern is gonna crank them all out in one week The wait for an Alice is gonna be really long X LE you can have it tomorrow If you want it you can have it tomorrow By the time Avatar CE goes on the line I hesitate with this game all the time because as beautiful as it is I am still just worried that as it currently stands Avatar is a bit boring considering everything else happening in pinball The sex appeal of the game itself they need to make the Well, right, I have a continual list.. The opposite. Its code is exhilarating. Startinging multiball in metallica is one of the most memorable moments in most people's pinball-like lives. And it's just going to get even Bob Betor. You know, and even though like metallica is a fun layout and we've come a long way, right? Since the traditional fun layout days. I mean, look at the layout of X-Men and it's not sold out. It's so good. And then metallica is going to be a fun layout, right? All the All these shots just going one after another after another fanning across the playfield. Of course I know what a fun layout is now after 10 years. So I don't know, you know, it's going to be interesting where old meets new. And will Stern Pinball, will they be able to take an old classic and put a modern touch on it and have success? I mean, the L.E.s are going to be sold out, but how well will the premiums sell? I just think there's so many newbies in the hobby, especially over The Last Arcade five years, who want to get stuff new in a box. The only issue with the newbies, they've been buying all these new in box games over The Last Arcade four years and they've lost a small fortune buying all these LEs. I feel bad for the guys who did that because this is the LE that you wanted to get. It wasn't John Wick, it wasn't Venom, it wasn't James Bond, it wasn't Foo Fighters. The only LE that's done well in terms of an LE purchase and LEs should hold their value, only Jaws has done well. Everything else has been really bad in terms of buying new in box. So I think Metallica with only 500 is easily going to hold strong at $13,000. It easily is gang. What else is going on? The other big thing happening gang is a lot of homebrew games are coming to Expo. I think we're going to see a lot of these I.D.I.I. homebrew games rocking to Expo and really impress people. I'm like someone just made a homebrew version of the pinball circus game. What happened to those circus games? Some things in the business world have come in handy, some things done in the business may be It's likely their resume to get a job at a major pinball company. I mean that. Like if you ramp or mode name into American Pinball show with something that's absolutely inKRETible that even eclipses what we're getting from the designers from all these companies, I think that person deserves a shot. That's how he got Keith Elwin and he's the greatest pinball designer of modern times. I really can't wait to see, you know, as I watch Pinball Expo from afar, all these homebrew games. I think it's going to be the talk of Straight Down the Middle: a pinball show, what's going on in the homebrew area. And I think Expo starts tomorrow, which is really weird. Like nothing's really going on until Thursday. You know, Wednesday Stern's going to show Metallica. Now it's going to be part of their factory tour. I thought they were going to wait to have it only at the factory tour and unveil it then. Jun lore This week topic is the timing of the X The one part I don't get is the timing. Just think about it from a marketing standpoint. You've got these unsold X-Men LEs. You've got dealers holding on to them. And now you've got a major pinball show coming up in which people are going to play all these games. And now you're taking attention away from X-Men and putting it on Metallica, which is going to sell out in one hour and is already sold out. I mean, try to go find one. You're not going to find one. The moment the moment anyone's order banks open up, they're going to be gone, but not X-Men LE (Limited Edition). I don't know. Like, why didn't they just like let X-Men be the bell of the ball? And then reveal this Metallica in just a few weeks. I mean, I don't know. I mean Stern probably is really just trying to get as much revenue in the door as we head into the end of the year because after Metallica, it does beg the question, are we going to see Dungeons and Dragons in December? Will that be Spike 3? And does Dungeons and Dragons by Brian Eddy, Does that game contain the major mech that Keith Elwin said blew him away? Is it going to be a huge dragon in the game? Some dungeon that's going to be like a medieval madness castle? Every time I try to get you excited about Brian Eddy's finally going to do something like that castle, he never delivers. I really am hoping that this is going to be the time when Brian Eddy does deliver gang look. It's a really exciting time to be in pinball. I don't know about you, but there's so much happening. We go from Alice to X-Men to like Avatar to Metallica. We know King Kong is coming from Keith Elwin, right? It's going to be spike 3, bigger screen, Dungeons and Dragons, maybe Pokemon. Harry Potter is definitely coming. And we all know this is the worst kept secret in pinball. I've been saying this forever. Dutch Pinball is going to confirm Back to the Arcade Future at Pinball Expo. That is going to happen. They're going to need some help making those games though. There's no way Dutch Pinball can make Back to the Arcade Future without a little help from some friends. So we'll see what happens with that scenario. I'm feeling it. You might hear I'm a little bit tired. It's been a really rough recovery. I'm finally starting to feel Bob Betor. You know, and I really wish I could be there at Pinball Expo with everybody. Everyone who's going there. Safe travels, my friends. I really hope everybody gets there safe and sound. It's going to be a blast. You're going to have such a great time. And I also want to give I want to give a shout out to end this show to Todd, to Todd F. Todd, I don't want to butcher your last name. He joined the This week's topic is the roof Club. He went from $5 to $10 a month. Todd, thank you so much. I really appreciate it. And if anyone does it, I'll give you a shout out. That's it. I'm not greedy. I'm not begging you. I'm never going to raise the amount. Jeff, I'm talking to you, brother. I'm never going to raise the amount. And I'm just having a good time here. And I hope each and every one of you is having a good time listening to Canadian pinball podcast. And now you can go to pin side and said, Hey, I need to just let everybody know that Metallica is going to be available on day one with the topper. The Sterns never done this. This is like the modern miracles are happening in pinball everybody. Have a great day. all times
