Dad joke day is our favorite day now because it allows Drew and I to tell really, really bad jokes. So what I do is I set up a random timer, and it could be anywhere from two minutes. It could be five minutes. It could be somewhere in the middle there. But when the timer goes off, we tell a bad dad joke, or at least one of us does. So very fun. We love doing it. We got a good response. We did this, what, two or three weeks ago, and people really seemed to like it. I'm starting the timer now. Okay. So we're good. Timer is set. So while that's being said and going off, in today's episode, we're going to discuss a little bit about Elvira. There was a three-minute video release that we'll get to shortly here.

It's a little blurry, maybe a little pixelated when you try to zoom in, whatever. That video drops, and I do a complete 180, dude. It's awesome. I love watching that game in motion.

    I don't care if it's a fan layout. That sounds great to me. I'll do a fan layout all day. I loved how interactive that mansion looked. I mean, you had a lot of different change of states on the, what is it, that right tunnel crypt thing? Yeah. I think cool. You smash it, and then the elevator goes up, and then there's a Skull Bash toy in there. I know. Very cool. Yeah, there's a subway in this thing. The windows are all LED. The top of the freaking thing spins around. I don't know how else to describe it. And I didn't realize on the first go-around with the teaser video and everything, there's actually four gargoyles on there. Two for the crypt and two for the main ramp. Yeah. That's pretty cool. Yeah, and, you know, last week I was like, I was a little poo-pooing the artwork a bit. See it in that video, I'm like, oh, snap. It does look sharp. It's sharp. I'm excited. I want to play this game badly. I mean, I think we can all agree that Stern isn't going to release an art package that isn't at the very least, you know, colorful, pretty well done. You know what I mean? Oh, yeah. We're a long way away from Game of Thrones type stuff. You know, Lord of the Rings, Simpsons even. You know, just we're a long way away from that, which is good. Good, good. Yeah, no, it looked sharp. I liked it. I'm really excited. And, you know, I heard on, what was it, Twip today, they had Cassandra, who plays Elvira.

There were people talking about it, saying that in recent years, like several years, she has not, you know, she doesn't, when she goes to all these shows and she does these things, she goes there as Cassandra Peterson, not as Elvira. So this is the first time in a long time and potentially the last time she's ever going to do any sort of video stuff as Elvira. That's kind of cool. Spoiler alert, Cassandra Peterson's super hot. She is. She's beautiful. She's a seven-year-old woman and she looks stunning. Just stunning. Just gorgeous. Can we get a little for Cassandra? Sure.

I don't know. You can look at the Matrix for that. It's a signature series. she should sign something she definitely signs a card on the apron um you know and obviously if you get a swatch of the couch you can put that you know on your play field or on the apron or something if you want but um you know essentially what's happening here is they're saying this is five thousand dollars you know a swatch of the couch a card signed by her and that's it i mean Really, there's nothing else. So they're saying that's $5,000. Now, you know, I don't know.

No, I'm pretty sure they did. I think some other people confirmed that. But when you have only 50 of them and you think about Stern's LEs that they were selling for $9,000 or $9,500 or whatever they sell them for at 500 of them, and they're selling out not all of their LEs in all cases, but a lot of them, 52 high-end collectors that have lots of money, I'm not really surprised. it seems silly to most of us in pinball land because we don't have that kind of money and spending five thousand dollars for a couple of signatures from cassandra seems ludicrous but to uh canada did say at best that you know people want to show off they want to say hey i have the best of something and in this case they're getting it first so they get to play that game before anybody else so that's pretty cool very cool oh i see the alert random timer's up here we go dad joke dad joke here we go what do you call a man with no body and no nose no idea nobody knows oh my god this is gonna get worse as the show goes on all right i love it um so um you're you're you're a horror theme you're a um creature from the black goon twilight zone all that stuff does alvira like do it for you with all the the b horror movies and that kind of stuff or are you just not into that yeah i think alvira hit her stride just i was just a little young no i'm not even saying like when you're growing up but just yeah i'm saying well that's what i'm saying like i don't have a direct connection okay i know of her i've never seen her movies. So do I? No, I don't. It doesn't do anything for me. So when you saw this, you weren't like, oh my God, this is so awesome. Because it so it like I look at this as like the most generic of horror Like there nothing there that screams horror movies to me Sure because she wasn much about her movies She would talk about other movies She introduced a lot of B-movies, sure. But that was back when the B-movies were all about boobs and gore. Yeah, the 70s.

    It's hard not to love her. I mean, I think what she does and her brand is super cool. Sure. And do you think her other pins were good and different? When we played it at the Blackbird, a local bar of ours, they had Elvira there, the first one. And the Party Monsters, yeah. Yeah, dude, that was an awesome shooting pin, man. I had a lot of fun with that pin. That was. And, you know, a lot of people, I think it's Split where people say, because, you know, like Scared Stiff, everyone loves and, you know, goes for, you know, more money than what it's actually, quote, unquote, worth. But, you know, that game tends to be repetitive and pretty easy. But, yeah, Elvira and the Party Monsters seems to be more fun. Yeah, it's campy humor. It's double entendres. It's, you know, kind of a darker. Well, Scared Stiff had that, too. But, like I said. No, I'm saying all three of them. Yeah. I'm just talking about three in general. So as a set, yeah, they stand out from other pinball machines. That's what makes them so great. So I'm a big fan. No, I'm all about it. I don't have a direct, like I said, I don't have a direct fandom to her. I don't have a connection with it. This isn't like The Exorcist or something where I loved it growing up or the original Dawn of the Dead. That's not like what we're talking here. We're talking just someone that introduced a lot of B-movies and was someone that you heard of growing up. But, yeah, it's just one of those things that I missed that whole train. But, yeah, she's awesome. She's awesome. I just respect the hell out of her, and I loved her other two pins. So we'll just wait to play it and reserve judgment until then. But it looks cool. It looks like they packed as much as they could with their, once again, their bill of materials. Yeah, what the hell is they doing lately? What are they trying to prove? Well, they're – They're sinking the competition? They're churning them out, man. I mean, you can say whatever you want about art or bare play fields, but they're churning them out. One, I'm going to get this super cool pin because, like I said, it is an awesome pin. And two, I'm going to bring one to Ian and say, hey, Ian, foster this for a while. We're going to play it. Ask your listeners to write in when they get busted playing pinball, when they shouldn't have, and how it ruined their relationship for that week. smiley face we've all got stories i'm sure come down to nashville in november for our grand old game room expo i'll let you know when i'm back in my hometown of west bend have a great day well we thought about it glenn we thought about doing something about that but you know what we just can't because we're still scared of our wives it's amazing we're allowed to do this podcast but you are not alone brother we have this conversation every day yes and we have this conversation with everybody we meet that does pinball yes um media like it seems to be a streamers yeah anybody that does that extra step playing pinball and doing a little bit extra like a podcast yeah none of us are happy like all of our wives are pissed my wife doesn't care what i do but i just have like the allotted time it's like hey you have one night to go do pinball stuff you know i don't care when it is but one night then when i ask for a second night it depends on how she's feeling you gotta yeah you gotta pick those battles yes you gotta say hey how was your night yeah how was your day and then judge it from that yeah she had a bad day you probably aren't going anywhere did you ever walk on a whole carton of eggshells it's nothing like that she just hit you in the face with a sledgehammer yeah yeah like you know my wife was cool with the podcast and the pinball and then for whatever reason, things changed. It took a nasty turn. Now it's a quote-unquote obsession. I'm like, I just like podcasting every once a week.

    I've dived into complete obsession, but my wife knows me and it's just kind of, eh. Like he said, you've got to pick your battles. You've got to pick where you want to do your pinball stuff. Drew's also dramatic when he talks to his wife. I've seen it. He goes, I could be doing so much worse. You want me to do crack Kathleen yeah I can do crack is that what you want me to and then when she says I can't go play pinball I go do crack yeah I'm going to do crack is that fine yeah no it's that's it's a delicate balance between husband and wife and pinball machine yep it's a waltz yep but we talked about it I mean it it could be pinball it could be you know a lot of guys are into cars you know sports whatever it is there's just you just gotta find that balance yeah yeah you know Hobbies are hobbies, and they're all expensive, and they're all time-consuming, and it is what it is.
