Analysis

claude-haiku-4-5-20251001 · $0.039

TL;DR

Host previews upcoming pinball pipeline while warning manufacturers that $9-15K prices demand exceptional execution.

Summary

Host analyzes upcoming pinball releases from major manufacturers through mid-2024, discussing Stern's James Bond and Venom, Jersey Jack's The Godfather and Matrix, Spooky's Scooby-Doo, Chicago Gaming's Pulp Fiction, and others. Key themes: high pricing pressures manufacturers to deliver exceptional games, uncertainty about market appeal of several themes, concerns about Spooky's redemption after recent disappointments, and skepticism about some design choices (single-level Pulp Fiction, Godfather's slow dramatic tone). Host emphasizes Stern's business model advantage and Keith Elwin's current dominance.

high confidence · Host confident assertion based on industry sources

  • Venom and James Bond are the next two Stern titles, with Venom expected August/September and James Bond revealed by year-end

medium confidence · Host reports hearing these titles are next, but notes manufacturers keep secrets well

high confidence · Host states this as confirmed from 'very good sources'

  • Spooky's next games are TNA rerun (250 units) then Scooby-Doo, which is 'absolutely packed' with content

high confidence · Host presents Scooby-Doo as '100 confirmed' and reports feedback on Spooky's previous disappointments

Notable Quotes

  • “If you're going to charge these prices and a Stern Premium Edition is now $9K and an Elite version is like $11.5K, the games have to be great. And this is why I said it on my Facebook live today. I think all these companies have dug a financial ditch they're now standing at the bottom of.”

Host @ early segment — Core thesis: pricing power creates existential pressure on manufacturers to deliver exceptional games; sets tone for entire analysis

  • “At Stern Pinball, it's not about the themes. It's just keep the line going. Keep making games. See, Stern can put out a game and even if it only sells 2,000 units, it doesn't matter because they're on to the next and they've made all their money with the Avatar sales just to begin with. The game hits, then they're going to make like 5-6,000 of them and they'll keep making Premium Edition for years. It's such a smart business model and no one has done it better than them.”

Host @ Stern analysis section — Explains Stern's manufacturing and business strategy superiority: portfolio approach buffers individual title risk

  • “I think there's always a little bit of clunkiness in [George Gomez designs]. We saw it in Deadpool. So I hope this game doesn't have it, but it seems like George always has a little clunkiness in the flow of his games.”

Host @ James Bond discussion — Identifies persistent design pattern in George Gomez's work; specific concern for upcoming James Bond

  • “I don't believe it until I see it. This game [Scooby-Doo] is not going to be bought sight unseen anymore. Spooky Pinball needs to do the following to win back the goodwill of us.”

Host @ Spooky Pinball section — Indicates loss of community trust in Spooky after recent releases; sets bar for redemption

  • “If this game is Matrix 4 and they inked a deal for Matrix Resurrections, it's over. Like it's over...But Matrix Resurrections is so bad that I started watching it and I had to stop.”

Host @ Jersey Jack Matrix discussion — Expresses strong concern about licensing risk if JJP chose newest Matrix film; reveals quality bar concerns

  • “Pulp Fiction didn't take place in the 70s. When you look at Pulp Fiction, it looks like it took place in the 90s...the pinball machines of the 90s were fully featured multi-level games. And so it's weird to me that it's like a throwback but the movie's not a throwback.”

The only pinball podcast that is giving you three shows in one week, two of which will be good. This Week in Pinball, Johnny Pneumonicbrance, Twippies Awards, translite What are the next titles right if we're gonna say hey take my money which titles are the ones that are gonna take our money and I want to say this you can't have hits in pinball if you don't have misses and what's fun about this hobby and covering this hobby for me is I will call a game a hit when I think it's a hit and if I think it's a miss it's a miss but the good news is we don't only have one game a year or one manufacturer so if a game doesn't work for The good news is there are many games coming down the pipeline for us to consider. And that's why this hobby is fun. That is why we love it so much because everything, everything doesn't ride on just one game. And so let's talk about each manufacturer and what they have coming down the pipeline and whether or not I think it's going to be a successful game or whether or not I think it's an exciting title to put into the game. All of these companies have done a very good job of keeping things a secret. The days of me seeing games before they came out are over. I used to be able to have Guns N Roses in my phone. We all saw the Ghostbusters before it released. We saw Deadpool before it released. But these companies have done a very good job on keeping what's coming a private mystery. Now, there are still loose lips in pinball and so I will do my best to tell you what I think is coming from each company and let's start with Stern Pinball. So Stern Pinball has taken this like six month break and the word on the street is they are giving more of their designers and coders time to make these games even better. So I expect the next games that come out from Stern Pinball. They are going to be probably code finished and they probably are going to have a little bit more in them because they've given their designers more time to tinker and play with the games. Now have they increased This week's topic is pinball. The pinball is the bomb. This is probably the most important thing for all pinball companies to figure out right now because I keep saying it. If you're going to charge these prices and a Stern Premium is now $9K and an Ellie is like $11.5. If you're going to charge these prices, the games have to be great. And this is why I said it on my Facebook live today. I think all these companies have dug a financial ditch they're now standing at the bottom of. And the more expensive your game is, the deeper that ditch is. And they're going to have to make magical games to fly out of that ditch and find customers. And that's a really exciting thing. It's also going to make or break a lot of these companies. So Stern Pinball, do we think they've increased the bomb? Are we going to see more games like Godzilla? Right? Rush didn't have as much as Godzilla had in it. I think we're going to see Stern Pinball release some very impressive machines over the next year. And And so what is next from Stern? So George Gomez is working on James Bond and I expect George Gomez James Bond to be pretty awesome. I think it's definitely going to be based on the older James Bond franchise, probably maybe Sean Connery and Roger Moore James Bond era films. I don't think we're going to see the newer James Bond, which is fine. That is the challenge with James Bond is there's just so many films. What do you make, right? Now look, do I think James Bond is going to be a What do you think? Did this movie smash hit for everybody? I don't really know. It's hard for me to know because I think James Bond appeals to the older pinball demographic. Like I grew up watching these James Bond movies, but how many of you out there have continued to watch these James Bond movies over the years? You know, and sometimes I think it's more challenging to make a pinball machine when you have too much source material, right? You have too many movies and it's almost hard to sort of land the plane. I actually like it when a pinball machine only has to make like one movie in pinball form like the big Lebowski or Willy Wonka, right? It can be done. It can be done like Lord of the Rings is great and that's three movies in one game and that is probably the most brilliant game that took three films that were three hours long each and made it work. But for the most part, I think sometimes it's a struggle for these designers to make a game when they have too much to pull from. So I think James Bond is going to be a game that appeals to the older demographic of pinball. I think George Gomez is one of the best designers of all time. I fully expect George Gomez to make this game pretty special. And I also fully expect there to be some clunkiness because that's always a thing with Gomez designs. There's always a little bit of the clunkiness in them. We saw it in Deadpool. So I hope this game doesn't have it, but it seems like George always has a little clunkiness in the flow of his games. So when are we going to see James Bond? So the two games I keep hearing are next are James Bond and Venom. So Venom is coming from Brian Eddy. It's got Zombie Eddy on artwork and it is comic book Venom. It is not the movie Venom. And I am hearing that this game is still on. They are still going to make it. And so Venom I think is going to be the next title. I think we're going to see Venom sometime in August or September. And then I think we're going to see James Bond revealed by the end of the year. I don't I don't think we're going to see what's next from Keith Elwin this year. I also don't think we're going to see Jack Danger's first cornerstone game. And do I think Venom's going to be a smash hit? I don't know. You know, Venom's another weird one, right? Think about how at the opposite ends of the spectrum James Bond and Venom are. But that just goes to show why Stern Pinball is so successful. They give something for everyone. And if you like comic books and you like Spider-Man, of course you're going to like Venom. They don't care if one title doesn't appeal to you because they know when they do four games a year or three games a year and every four months there's a new game, they know they're eventually going to make a theme you want. And at Stern Pinball, it's not about the themes. It's just keep the line going. Keep making games. See, Stern can put out a game and even if it only sells 2,000 units, it doesn't matter because they're on to the next and they've made all their money with the LE sales just to begin with The game hits, then they're going to make like 5-6,000 of them and they'll keep making premiums for years. It's such a smart business model and no one has done it better than them. So, I think Venom is going to also be a title that's not going to light the world on fire. It's a little bit obscure for a lot of people, but we will see. Will Brian Eddy finally give us like a mech we've been waiting for? That's my main thing with Brian Eddy. The guy made The Medieval Madness Castle. He knows how to make these games sing. I hope Brian Eddy finally makes something engineering-wise that's impressive. I think Mandalorian was a total miss. I think the Mechs in Mandalorian were uninspired. And I'm hoping he does something fun with Venom. Alright, so after these two games, I'm hearing that Keith Elwin's Jaws is down the road. Now, Keith Elwin's team is the greatest team in pinball right now. And I really do think it's Jaws. I don't think jaws is a metaphor for something else. And so I think jaws is going to be a huge hit because if you think about the movie and you think about the theme of jaws and hunting this great white shark, it is going to be the perfect theme for pinball. Now, I don't think they're going to get any assets from the movie other than the theme song and the shark, right? The dun dun dun dun dun. And if this game does not have a shark that comes up from underneath the I keep saying like the greatest shot ever in pinball could be, and this needs to happen in this game. There needs to be a shark that comes up from underneath the playfield and it's got like the what the yellow oxygen tank in its mouth and you get one shot to hit it and blow it up. If you miss the shot, you lose. That's it. Game over. I think more pinball machines need to have a moment in a game where that's it. Like you either hit it and win or the game is over. There's too much of like you missed the final thing. You can't beat the final boss character and then the game keeps going. Why don't pinball machines have that moment? Like you get it? Here's your chance to show your ultimate skill and if you don't hit it, game over. You have to start over again. I wish there was more of that and say you just keep going. Just keep going. Just just keep getting multipliers and stacking stuff Keith Elwin Jaws is going to be a juggernaut Anything Keith Elwin puts out he got the Midas touch It going to sell like hotcakes I think Keith Elwin game is going to be the game that comes out in March April I think this is going to be the game we see at TPF I think this is going to be the big first game of 2023 from Stern Pinball And so look for that Now Jack Danger is also making a game right They got so many designers Jack Danger and John Borg is already working on his next game And he been working on it for a while I don know what John Borg next title is But here my guess I think that Jack Danger game is going to be either He Masters of the Universe I think I would rather see He-Man Masters of the Universe than Foo Fighters. I actually have no interest in Foo Fighters. I know some of you like them. I don't get the appeal. I don't. I try to listen to them. It's not that exciting to me. But I understand they have millions of fans and Stern does this. They understand. Again, all they care about is selling a few thousand of Foo Fighters fans. They will achieve that goal. Now, He-Man Masters of the Universe, the reason why I'm excited about this pin is Castle Grayskull and He-Man and I've got the power and you've got Skeletor, you've got many faces, you've got all the different characters from this show. But for He-Man to work, here's the thing, it better not be based on the new Netflix He-Man. They need to base it on the original TV show and they need clips from it. It's also like I hear people say this, the same we're going to talk about Scooby Doo in I'm going to go back to the kids cartoons. The reason why is that nostalgia sells and the reason why all of us have an emotional appeal to some of this stuff. But I also do agree a lot of us have grown out of these properties. I think Ninja Turtles was a good example of that. When it finally came out, I think a lot of us were like, I'm a grown adult. I really don't care about Ninja Turtles. I don't want these kiddie themes. I would say that there are more people that don't want these kiddie themes or cartoons from the 80s than there are buyers. Okay. And if you're going to go after like 80s cartoons, I still think the ones we need are Transformers and GI Joe. It's like start there because both of those properties were more mature for their time and they were just cooler like Transformers, G1 and GI Joe, much cooler than He-Man Masters of the Universe. So we shall see but I think Jack Danger is working on those and this is going to be interesting to see what Jack brings. Now I've been talking to Jack off the record right and I don't share our private conversations but I will share this. Jack is feeling some of the pressure and I'll explain why. He's reading how we're tearing a Pat Lawler game apart and he knows that when he releases a game he's cross the Rubicon. And he's gonna either be praised or like insulted. And it's really hard, right? You don't want to make a game that's mediocre. I think that's the biggest fear of every designer or any artist in general. You never want to make something where people are just apathetic about it. You want to get a reaction. And it's really hard in pinball, like to get that uber positive universal reaction that everyone loves it. Eric Minier's felt that. Keith Elwin has felt that. You know, all the great designers out there have had those games that when they release them, everyone for the most part loves them. And I think no one's getting that love more now than Keith Elwin and I think it's rightfully deserved. But we shall see if Jack Danger can hit it out of the park. Okay, so here's what I think is going to happen. I think it's going to go Venom, James Bond, Jaws and then He-Man or Foo Fighters. So that's Stern Pinball. Alright, what is next from Jersey Jack Pinball? So we are hearing that Jersey Jack might release another game this year. I don't see it happening. Here's why I don't see it happening. It might happen, but here's why I don't think so. Because they still need to build all these toy stories. And so the hard part for them is this now. If they are building the toy stories in Q3, Q4, like October, September, October, right? And then how are they going to release another game if they have not built every single CE of Toy Story? The problem is I don't think the optics are good. If they show another game and you've got a thousand people that are locked in for a 15,000 I think it's going to create a real dilemma for them because what if those people see the new game and they want it more because you made them wait too long. Remember people, when Stern releases a title, they make a few pros, they might put a few premiums on location, but they get every single LE built within two months. And there's a reason why they do that. They don't want anyone to see the next title before every single LE is made and shot. I'm John Papadiuk, Black Water, Kaneda's Pinball Podcast, Twippies Awards, transliteregon I think it's gonna be Eric Meunier's Godfather and I can't for the life of me understand how he's gonna make this game amazing because it's such a weird theme for pinball. If you go watch the Godfather movies this weekend, you will walk away and say there is no way that you can make Godfather into pinball and make it exciting because it's a slow drama. I don't know how they're going to do it. I don't even know what the mechs would be. I don't even know like what the clips would be. I don't even know how you get exciting callouts. It's like every line in that movie is like a whisper or a very soft delivered line that's supposed to put fear in you. Pinball is fast-paced. Pinball is high energy. Pinball is high action. It's this like incredibly fast-paced kinetic game. Godfather is the complete opposite. So if it is that, we shall see. The other rumor I heard is that this game is going to show people that Eric Meunier can design a game with flow and speed. So I expect this game to be pretty wide open. The quagmire now for Jersey Jack Pinball is if it's not packed, I think they're going to be in trouble if 12 to 15 K is the baseline for all of their games moving forward. But if there's any hope that someone over at JJP can pack a game, it's Eric Minier. So we shall see because the Pat Lawler period is over. But we both know that Pat influenced this game. He had to have. He's We are going to see a game that is going to be pretty wide open. I expect it to be somewhat barren and I expect it if it is Godfather to be a theme that lands with lukewarm response at best. And I don't know if JerseyJack can handle two misses in a row especially at these price points. So we shall see. Now where it gets more exciting is after Godfather if you ask me. Because what's coming from JerseyJack after this is Steve I'm gonna let you know what it is real soon, but I'll just tell you this. It's a great theme for pinball. It's the right music for pinball. It's the right high energy for pinball. It's almost comical that they might go from Godfather to this act. And I think this game is going to be a hit. I think it's a band that has so many fans and so many hits and has remained relevant over the decades. Are they as cool as Guns N' Roses? No, but nobody is as cool as Guns N' Roses, but I fully expect Steve Ritchie's Music Pin to be a hit for Jersey Jack Pinball. Now, after his game is Mark Saden's Matrix. So that is what he's making people. Like I'm here to tell you right now that The Matrix is coming out from Jersey Jack Pinball. I mean, I'm hearing from my very good sources they have The Matrix license and that is what Mark is working on. You know, and I think everyone just wants them to make the first movie or the first three movies. If this game is Matrix 4 and they inked a deal for Matrix Resurrections, it's over. Like it's over. Like you can't do it. At least Toy Story 4 was like a good movie. It wasn't our favorite, but it's critically acclaimed and it got like a 97 on Rotten Tomatoes. But Matrix Resurrections is so bad that I started watching it and I had to A The Hello again and thank you for listening to this week's game of RJack stereo Gameplay Podcast and this edition of the Gameplay Podcast, I'm Knappahaujne, Fruitnie personne to boot. While part of the Main Pro mini F happen Godfather major music pin and then we going to have the matrix Okay Spooky Pinball their next game is Scooby Like 100 confirmed Scooby It is happening We might see a few TNAs run again like in the new cabinet TNA 2 they calling it And I think they probably will run like 250 TNA 2 They probably probably So, if you want to TNA, it's coming. Like they're making TNA 2.0. And then they're moving on to Scooby-Doo. So, here's what I heard about Scooby-Doo. I heard that they've heard all of the feedback on these two games right now. I know they are bummed out that they disappointed so many people on these two titles and I am hearing that Scooby-Doo is absolutely packed. That spooky Pinball wants to show you what they can do. Now, look, You know this and I know this. I don't believe it until I see it. This game is not going to be bought sight unseen anymore. Spooky Pinball needs to do the following to win back the goodwill of us. And Scooby-Doo as a theme for Spooky is perfect. I know some people don't like it. It is the perfect theme for a company called Spooky Pinball. And I think it's a lot of fun. It's the right kind of campy humor. It's absolutely perfect for pinball. But what they need to do next time around, they need to have used rebo, use proof, get the goodwill back The game because they knew how unfinished it was and they got everybody to put deposits down because we had faith in them and we got burned and I know we can't really blame them because nobody made us do it but we had faith in them and I think for them to get the faith back they need to show Scooby-Doo show us why it's amazing let people play it and say it's amazing and then open the order banks I think that's the way to go so Spooky's got to get themselves out of the way. This Week in Pinball, Johnny Pneumonic, Black Water, Kaneda's Pinball Podcast, Twippies Awards, transliteelectronic panel in backbox that is backlit during playelectronic Game of Thrones unint I'm going to get the hottest license they'll ever have Rick and Morty and idiotically and they would say this idiotically limit Rick and Morty production to 750 Charlie could have sold 7000 Rick and Morty's I mean it he probably could have sold 7000 Rick and Morty's over a 10 year period if he just kept it on the line and remade them every once in a while that's what's next from spooky pinball let's go to Chicago gaming company so they're still trickling out the Cactus Canyon This week's topic is Pulp Fiction. We've heard about this Mark Ritchie game forever. It's a single level game and I think this game is going to come out and it's going to be like what? Like what is this? Like it's going to be kind of like the Beatles but it's going to be single level. It's not going to have any ramps. It's not going to have like a lot of toys in it and I think it's going to be a miss. I do. I think it's going to be a miss. I think it's going to look cool. I think it's going to sound cool. But there is no way around the fact that pinball and modern pinball needs to have more modern stuff in it. And for it to be a truly rewarding pinball experience, we want more. Like I get it. Like you could have a single level game and single level games can be fun. But a movie like Pulp Fiction deserved to have a full featured game. I think the way they're going to combat the fact that it's single level, I do think they're going to make it scarce. I think they're going to make it rare and I think they're going to have a high price tag and I think they're going to try to make it more like a work of art. I think that's what this thing is going to be like a Pulp Fiction movie poster that you can play, but it's really meant to just be like this cool throwback looking thing. It's confusing to me because Pulp Fiction didn't take place in the 70s. When you look at Pulp Fiction, it looks like it took place in the 90s. I'm going to be talking about the pinball machine that was used in the 90s and if it took place in the 90s, the pinball machines of the 90s were fully featured multi-level games. And so it's just weird to me that it's like a throwback but the movie's not a throwback. Like it made sense that the Beatles was a throwback pin because it was based on the Beatles from the 60s. So really confusing that they did it this way and I know that Tarantino wanted it that way but they should have said, Quinton, what are you thinking man? That doesn't make any sense and let us explain why. So after this is Ben Heck's game. Now look, Ben Heck keeps telling me that they're letting him put all this stuff into the game and I feel like the years are going on and on and on and we're no closer to this game. Ben Heck has made one game in pinball, America's Most Haunted. Arguably one of the ugliest games but probably Spooky's best shooter to date. I mean it. It's probably the best shooting game at Spooky but the art package and it was their first effort. So the question is will Ben Heck be able to show us he's capable of making a game at the caliber right of our designers of these days and I hope so I hope so Ben gets it Ben is a very smart guy he knows what people want he is dialed into this hobby very well and so I expect this game to be good what is the theme I think and I'm just guessing here I think it's going to be Evil Dead I really do I think it's going to be Evil Dead I might be wrong I don't know if I'm not sure if that's the case, but I think we just need to get an Evil Dead game out for all the Evil Dead fans out there and just satiate and scratch that itch. If it's not Evil Dead, I could see this being something like a Monty Python game, like something along those lines. But the real question is, like, I don't even know when this game is going to come out because I'm also hearing that they're going to remake Twilight Zone. Like that's going to be the next official remake from Chicago Gaming Company. The problem with CGC, they really are on no schedule whatsoever. It's really hard to get excited about Chicago Gaminging Company. Out of all the pinball companies out there, they're the one where you kind of get excited and then like three years go by and you're like, wait, where is the game? And that's what they've been like. I also expect them to do another run of Medieval Madness. Like they're going to do it. Like they absolutely are going to do it. And you're going to see all those people who spent all that money on the Royal Editions kicking themselves. If you paid $20,000 05 Gianıldze어 Equivalent Shooter YWY pediatricHistory asynchron transp lyc creo in V collaborativl Pulp Fiction and we've got Ben Heck's game. Let's go on to Multimorphic. So Multimorphic, here's the deal. This is gonna be real short. He's got to get the Weird Al's made. It's gonna take Jerry all of this year and all of next year. I mean this all of next year to make these Weird Al's like it takes them two years to make like 400 games. So I don't think we're gonna see another license pin from P3 Multimorphic for like another 18 months at least. And I'm hearing no rumors about any future licenses coming on All right. Next is Dutch Pinball. So Dutch Pinball, they're going to keep making the Big Lebouskies. And I talked to Barry and they have no set limit on how many they're going to make. I don't think they have another game in development. I don't know. Like right. Who's going to help Dutch Pinball secure a license and who's going to preorder a game from this company until they make every EA whole? There is no way they can even announce another game. And to get every EA whole, I think we're still another maybe two years away from that. I'm happy they're getting it done. I hope every EA gets a game. But Dutch Pinball sadly cannot release another game until they accomplish that feat. And why it's sad to me is I still to this day, I think Barry is one of the greatest pinball designers and one of the most creative minds we've ever seen in pinball. And I'm saying is based on just one I'm a fan of the game, but if you look at that game, I really want to see what he can do next. Like I would rather have him make Back to the Future than half the people over at Stern. I mean, I would just love to see this guy do something. He should go get a license like Teen Wolf, right? No one ever talks about Teen Wolf. How cool would a Teen Wolf pinball machine be? I don't know. I don't know. Now that I say it, maybe it's not that cool, but you know what I mean? Everybody would love to see if Barry could follow up the Big Lebowski with something equally as magic and creative. I think they might transition their business into making pinball parts That probably the smarter play for Mike because when it comes to putting the whole game together he just doesn have it But if he were smart and he's making games with cheaper labor, then he should just make the coils and make other things and sell them to all the pinball companies. And I think that's going to be the future of home pin. I think spinal taps going to come out. I think everyone's going to rag on it. I think the sales are going to be like abysmal. And I don't know how you then move on to another game. If you ask me, it's crazy that he survived Thunderbirds. So if you can survive Thunderbirds, then maybe he can survive another flop. All right, after Home Pin, we have a company that's actually getting it done, and that's the Pinball Brothers. I think I saw on Knapp's Arcade that they've made 500 aliens, and the Pinball Brothers are getting it done. And they are going to release Queen, and we've already seen it. That's the funny part about Queen. We've already seen it. Now, do they have a pinball machine after Queen in development? I probably think they do, but I'm not sure what it is. I can't even speculate what it is. Now, I do think Queen is going to be underwhelming. It looks dated. I don't think it's going to do that well, but it's Queen, so they will get some sales. The problem with them is how long it takes to get it. And I think people don't want to send money and wait a year to get a game. But you know what? I'm proven Kenólom? 🎵NِKONNÍ DancingNÍ This week's topic is Marty Robinson's original IP game. I'm telling you right now, I'm just telling you right now, I don't know what it is, but if I were a betting man, I would bet that this is going to be a really, really hard sell. And I'm not sure if Marty is good or bad, I haven't seen his design, so I can't rag on it, but I do know this. Who is MartyRobbins learning from over there? If you look at Kelts and what they designed originally, it's pretty pedestrian. And at these prices, you can't just release a pedestrian pin and people aren't going to buy it just to support you. So I think this is a huge gamble for Haggis Pinball. I think it's probably not going to work out. And I think by the time this game comes out, I don't know how you sell it. Like, I don't know how you sell someone on an original game from a brand new designer. I don't know how you sell someone on it. So I think it's a huge gamble. I think the safe bet is if Damien just keeps making these remakes, right? You sold people on four to five games, right? That series ticket holder. If I were him, I would just get all those made. Like just do it. Like fish where the fish are. No pun intended, fathom. But just fish where the fish are. Make games you know people want. Make games that you know have a following. I think Marty Robbins' game could be what collapses this whole dream. All right, I forgot American Pinball. Like I was going through the company's American Pinball. So American Pinball, they're making all their Legends of Valhalla's demand on that game is completely dried up. If you got one, congratulations, you just lost like probably $1,000. And by the end of the year, you will lose $2,000. But the game is fun, Kaneda, the game is fun. Okay, we don't care about this game anymore. I want to talk about what's next. So it is the big game over at American Pinball. It is the Dennis Nordman game. This is the game that Christopher Franchi's This Week in Pinball, John Papadiuk, Black Water, Kaneda's Pinball Podcast, Twippies Awards, translite Purd and he keeps saying like wait until October. Now here's the thing. I don't think they're gonna get it out in October. American Pinball never hits a deadline. They never stay on schedule. Why would it be different this time? Also, they didn't tell us October. There's no release date. They can't be late on a game they didn't set a release date for. I think this game, if I'm just going off of what Franchi's been saying with his hyperbole, you know, I don't know what the theme is. I'm just going off of Franchi's excitement. I feel like Franchi has his hand on the pulse of what gets people excited in pinball. I think he knows what people want. I just still think that an original IP game is really hard. But I do think what Dennis Nordman is going to bring is a game that reminds us of the magic of the 90s. That is what I'm expecting from this game. I do think this game is on everyone's radar. Now, for it to work, it needs to be I think that's the thing, right? When you play a game like Whitewater, like how cool is that game? Like imagine Whitewater with the modern code, not that it even needs it but imagine that and I think that's what people want. They want to look down at this game and be transported into a really fun campy world that you can't wait to shoot. I'm presidents g 이것도exploreintoage OnlinePlanetieceptnSouncer Williams tetnontwantalookdownndseea big iPad. They don't wanna look down and see like screens. They want to look down and see a physical world to interact with. And we know Dennis Nordman is great at doing that. So I'm super excited for this game. I can't even speculate what the theme is. It's not Sherlock Holmes. It's not Valkyrie. I have no idea what it is. You know what I would love it to be? I think you make it based on the black and white Kong and imagine how cool that would be the old Empire State Building and like New York City. How cool would it be if like the lower half of the game was like the jungle and then the upper playfield was like New York City with the Empire State Building and it comes up from underneath the playfield. Like how cool would that be? And then you've got the airplanes spinning around and you got to hit the airplanes with the pinball. It could be amazing. Now after I think AP is a big question mark. Do you really think Ryan McQuaid is working on something right now? I mean they must still be trying to figure out what to do with Ryan now that they lost Sonic the Hedgehog to Stern Pinball. So everything for AP rides on this game and I know it and they know it. Mukesh and Rob Burke they're invested in this thing. They gave David Fix money to steer the ship in the right direction. I don't know if it's going in the right direction. I'm also hearing they're doing another Riot game. I really hope they don't make wrath of Olympus. I'm just giving David Fix some free advice. Do not make wrath of Olympus. If you're gonna make another riot game, I hope it's riot's next game and it's new. Let's stop going back to the riot portfolio. If people really wanted wrath of Olympus, they would have bought it years ago when it was available. There's no more demand for something now. Alright, I think I concluded it all, right? I think that was it. I mean, there's like some ballarama and there's like Honey Factory, Pinball Hoops game coming out of Europe. But for the most part, like these are the games. These are the games that are coming down the pipeline. I think the big ones, when you ask me, the big ones over the next year and a half are going to be Jaws, James Bond, The Matrix. I think Back to the Future might be a possibility. I didn't even talk about that, but someone's making it and it's probably Joe Kamikow. And so I think there's going to be a lot of Hi, my name is Keith Elwin. I'm a pinball enthusiast and I'm going to be talking about the pricing and are you getting your money's worth. That is going to be the thing and what excites me the most, I'll pay 10 grand. I'll even pay you 15 grand. But if you want to take that kind of money from me, you've got to give me something so damn good with so much magic and so much theme integration that I want to bolt it to the floor of my house. I want to bolt it to the floor of my house. I'm not spending 15 grand thinking about the resale. I'm not spending 12 grand thinking about the resale. I'm only buying these games if it delivers something that I don't want to live without. And I think a lot of you are feeling that way now. The hobby has changed. The prices are crazy. We will only spend these crazy prices if the games make us go crazy. And I love that because the onus is on these companies now to make magic. And when they don't, the buyers are not going to show up, especially at these prices. It's an awesome time to be in pinball. Thank you all for the support. It means so much to me, Killian and Brenda. We're having such a good time here in Ireland, and we're so happy when we look down and see we've got five hundred and eighteen subscribers. I'm losing a few subscribers at the end of every month. I always lose about ten, but they always come back. I think there's just some people out there that don't want to be billed monthly, but thank you. I know the bill's going to hit your inbox and I'm so happy that you're showing your support. I love doing this show for you and I hope to do it for many, many more years and that every week you can have a little bit of Kaneda in your life. I think it makes pinball more fun than these $15,000 games. I'll talk to you soon, people. Ohhذ
