TL;DR

Pinball Shenanigans documents rare Vampire, worn Game of Thrones, and Stargazer restoration at Grazley Garage.

Summary

Mike Dusz from Pinball Shenanigans visits the Grazley Garage to document three machines: a rare 1971 Bally Vampire that Kevin is selling to Greg Benzy (a horror-themed collector), a Game of Thrones that just came off route with 60,000 plays and visible wear, and a newly acquired Star Gazer receiving restoration work (new playfield, backglass, plastics, power supply kit). The video includes gameplay footage, discussion of machine mechanics, and a playful duck-hunt Easter egg challenge hidden throughout the arcade.

Key Claims

  • Vampire was produced with approximately 800 units made

medium confidence · Mike Dusz discussing the rarity of the Vampire machine; he notes 'like 800 made' as a frame of reference for it being 'fairly rare' but not extremely scarce

  • Game of Thrones machine has approximately 60,000 plays logged

high confidence · Mike explicitly states the machine is 'fresh off route' and mentions checking the actual play count, saying 'somewhere around 60,000'

  • Star Gazer was produced in the 600-700 unit range

medium confidence · Dutch speculates 'probably in the 600 range to 700' when asked how many Stargazer units were made, with Mike confirming 'SE 600 range'

  • Stargazer received a new playfield from John Great Witch (or CPR), new backglass, new plastics, and a new DIY power supply kit

high confidence · Mike describes the restoration work: 'It's got a brand new like 2 days ago. Do-it-yourself kit for the power supply...It's got a brand new plastic set and brand new playfield' with 'John Great Witch playfield'

  • Game of Thrones shows significant wear including cracked flipper bats and deteriorated rubbers after heavy route play

high confidence · Mike visually documents: 'I can see a crack in the flippery bat. That's actually cracked all the way around at the front, too...Look at these rubbers, by the way...may just pop as we're playing'

  • Vampire is a 1971 or 1972 Bally machine designed by Ted Zale with artwork possibly by Dick White

medium confidence · Mike states 'Ted Zale another Ted Zale design' and asks 'Is it like I think Dick White maybe possibly if I recall' for the artist; describes it as 'This would be an LE if there was such a thing back in 71'

  • The Metallica and World Cup Soccer machines recently finished restoration by Kevin are now at Fork River arcade for tournament play

high confidence · Mike confirms: 'The Metallica that uh Kevin just finished is now, as of today, at Fork River, and so is the World Cup soccer...We'll be playing that in a few days at our Tuesday tournament'

Notable Quotes

  • “This is 1971. And again for 1971 or two, it's got it's it's like fully featured. This would be an LE if there was such a thing back in 71 with physical kickback. They respected the consumer back then.”

[name withheld pending review] @ ~8:20 — Commentary on machine quality and features in early pinball era vs. modern pricing/strategy; implicit critique of current manufacturer practices

  • “This isn't Gary Stern we're talking about here. This is uh Bali.”

[name withheld pending review] @ ~8:30 — Tongue-in-cheek jab at Stern Pinball's modern business practices vs. historical Bally manufacturing

[name withheld pending review] @ ~23:00 — Documentation of Game of Thrones' wear and tear after 60k plays; demonstrates route machine condition challenges

  • “I would at least like to like make one shot on purpose. Blocks. So there is a enormous amount of knowledge for this rule set in order to like maximize points.”

[name withheld pending review] @ ~27:40 — Admission of Game of Thrones' complex ruleset and steep learning curve; self-deprecating humor about gameplay skill

  • “It's got a brand new like 2 days ago. Do-it-yourself kit for the power supply that I have to do. Dutch is going to do that. It's got a brand new plastic set and brand new playfield.”

[name withheld pending review] @ ~20:00 — Details on Stargazer restoration scope and DIY restoration culture in the community

  • “The stargazer chick is pretty much completely gone. We got uh leg foot or that? I think that's a foot. Maybe a leg, a knee, possibly a knee and a boot.”

It's July 2nd. Happy belated Canada Day. And it is hot. It feels like 43° Celsius right now. I think it's actually 32 or something, but it is sweltery and it is sweaty and it is hot. So, I got one of these. Probably uh shouldn't have it within reach, but I do. Don't worry, it's not opened yet. And uh I feel like tonight is a good time to consume one or two of those over at the Grazley garage. So I'm going to meet Kevin and Mr. Greg Benzy over there. He's the one that is going to be purchasing Kevin's new vampire EM machine. Greg is a big horror theme pinball collector. A lot of his games are uh you know like Friday the 13th and Texas Chainsaw Massacre and oh I should sell him my um Nightmare Before Christmas. I should be getting that on Saturday. Anyway, this fits right in with his uh lineup except that it's em and he has only pretty much DMD and LCD games. But uh everybody wanted this vampire game. Apparently it's pretty popular. It's fairly rare, like 800 made, but uh you know, it's not like there's only a hundred of them around. Anyways, we're going to check out Vampire. It's set up now. Game of Thrones that uh has 60,000 plays is set up now. Check that out. And uh you know, try and cool off with a Stella in this crazy heat. I'm Mike Dus and this is Pinball Shenanigans. Hi doggies. And it literally just got set up and it plays pretty good. And we had a practice game on it. Uh me versus Ben's and I got him by like a thousand. Kevin versus Dutch. You destroyed your dad and now uh it is the finals between Dutch and I on vampire here. But uh have a look now that it's set up. >> Uh what's the artist's name again? Is it
