From Chicago, Illinois, the heart of pinball, it's the special when lit pinball podcast holiday special with Ken Cromwell and Bill Webb. Featuring special guest host Dwight Sullivan of Stern Pinball. 2019 New Year resolutions and predictions from pinball artists, designers, podcasters, online streamers and some special surprises along the way. Featuring 40 guests including Zombie Yeti, Scott Danesi, Ed Ed Robertson, Todd Tucky, Steve Ritchie, Jersey Jack, Gary Stern, and more. And now, Ken Cromwell, Bill Webb, and Dwight Sullivan. Pinball Land, welcome to episode number 30 of Special When Lit Pinball Podcast. I am Ken Cromwell. And I am Bill Webb. A couple of things before we kick this off. In the studio today is special guest host Dwight Sullivan. Dwight, what's up bud? Hey, hey guys, I'm really glad to be here. It all comes full circle. We were talking earlier today this podcast started, our first interview guest was none other than the great Dwight Sullivan. Here we are six months later celebrating six months of podcasting in our year-end holiday special and guess who's back? Dwight Sullivan. I love it. Yeah. Hey, Dwight, thank you so much for coming in. I love it. I'm glad to be here. I'm glad that you're here. I'm glad that you're here, Bill. Been too long. I know, right? So we haven't done this in a long time. We have a lot of audio to kind of cover today and listen. And essentially what had happened is we had asked about 40 people that are prominent in pinball two questions. And it was one, it was a 2019 pinball-related resolution and a 2019 pinball-related prediction. So I'm going to ask the both of you before we cut into the action here, because we're going to keep this moving. The show's going to be moving. It's going to be cooking, right? What do you think was the biggest or most popular pinball related resolution for 2019? From people that build pinball machines, own companies, have podcasts, have YouTube channels, coders, designers, everything. What are these guys looking to do? What's their resolution for 2019? Dwight, you're the guest, so you can go first. So, I think all of the pinball industry people are going to predict, you know, that pinball is going to grow next year. That's my prediction, in fact. I think pinball is going to grow next year, and I think that would be common among the pinball industry people. Now, Dwight and Bill have not heard any of these. So, this is all fresh content for them. I've had the privilege of editing this up for hours and hours and hours. So, I'm anxious to have somebody hear this, because I'm the only one that's heard this. So, Dwight's predicting Prosperous 2019 as far as manufacturing and sales. I think pinball will grow. I think the most overused line on this episode will be, to play more pinball. Oh, okay, see, now that's a resolution. Yeah. That's what you asked for. That's a resolution. So Dwight gave a prediction, which is going to be like a prominent year in pinball. Right. And Bill's given the resolution of playing more pinball. I agree with Bill. I think, in fact, that's my resolution, is to play more pinball with my friends. Well, you're not supposed to let the cat out of the bag because we're not supposed to be J.P.: Hi everybody this is John Borg at Stern pinball here. I've been working on my 2019 New Year's resolution all year and it will be in an arcade or in a basement near you soon. It's going to be a monster. My pinball prediction for 2019 is that you're going to have a really rough time figuring out which model you want to put in your game room. Special thanks to my team. My team is rather large this year and I hope I don't forget any names, but mainly I would like to thank my programmer Dwight, Christopher Franchi, my new mechanical engineer Elliot, Gabby, Jody, Joe Kaminkow from Kapow, the Chucks. We have several Chucks and several Johns and several Daves here. One of our Chucks is an electrical engineer. He's fabulous. The other Chuck is our video director and I also want to thank the whole video team. They've all done a great job. Jim, Raina, Simon, Dave Link from Evolution Studios, Gary Stern of course, and Dave Peterson, Danielle, Shirley Shelley, and Jerry Thompson, my sound engineer. Jerry did a really, really great job on the next game that's coming and I actually got to do one of the voices for it. So you'll be seeing it and hearing it soon. Thank you very much and you all have a great new year. Hi, I'm Jerry Thompson. I'm the sound designer at Stern Pinball and just wanted to tell you thanks for supporting pinball and for playing and buying Stern Pinball games. It's a pleasure to make them. 20 years ago I bought my first game and never would have imagined what pinball would have brought to my life. So many good friends and good times and now doing something I love and I don't really have huge predictions or resolutions. I don't do them but I do need to play more pinball. So I guess if I had a resolution it would be I used to play about 30 minutes a night before bed and I've been so busy I'm not playing as much. So play more pinball I guess would be a resolution. And a prediction? Well, just more great stuff for next year. I mean, a monstrous new year for pinball. How about that? Hello to the boys from the special When Lit Pinball Podcast and hello to the tens and fifteens of listeners out there. My name is Christopher Franchi and I am the artist on Stern and Kapow's Batman 66, Stern's Guardians of the Galaxy, and Stern and Kapow's The Beatles. So, with 2018 coming to an end, the guys asked me to do a couple of things. To give you a resolution for 2019, and a prediction for 2019, and basically whatever else I wanted to say. Of course, there's no swearing on this podcast, so that's unfortunate. I'm going to have to keep it clean. Anyway, my resolution for 2019 is to continue my hard work creating the best possible pinball art for these beautiful machines I am so fortunate enough to be a part of. In addition, I'd also like to add, I promise, very soon, Ed and I will finally get the super-duper, extra-awesome pinball show out to you. I know it's been a long time. I hope it's worth the wait. I'm sure you can understand we both have been very busy, but look for that very soon. As far as a prediction for 2019, I can predict that I'm going to be doing two or three more pinball machines in 2019. I can predict that if anything gets leaked on those pinball machines, it will be to no fault of my own. And I also predict the special Winlit Pinball Podcast will have at least four more listeners in 2019. Now with 2018 coming to a close, I'd like to thank a few people who have made my life better and my job better. The first would be Joe Kaminkow, who is my mentor and whose advice is invaluable. Greg Freres and Steven Martin in the art department at Stern for I'm continuing to get no credit for making my work look so good. You work very hard at what you do and I appreciate it. Mr. George Gomez, who has been a supporter of mine for a few years now and continues to give me work, so that's a bonus. And to all of the export promoters that have had me out to their shows as a guest, I really appreciate you flying me out and hopefully with all the signatures and seminars, I've given you your money's worth and hopefully I can continue to do so. And lastly, to all of you out there who are fans of my work and take time to write messages All of you are welcome to join me on the show. I'm your host, John Porras. Have a great day. Thanks for watching. I'll see you next time. Have a great day. Bye bye. Bye bye. Bye bye. Bye bye. Bye bye. Bye bye. Bye bye. Bye bye. Bye bye. Bye bye. Bye bye. What are you guys thinking? I think those are monster dudes. Well, I'm kind of jealous because... Monster! Dwight got a shout out already, you know, not even three minutes into this thing. I'm winning. Right? See? A special thank you. Those guys are all awesome. I work with them closely as much as I can and they're awesome. Yeah, and you're getting a lot of air time today, Dwight. Somebody just walking into the show, taking it over, Dwight Sullivan. What stood out to me was Christopher Franchi's already saying, hey, I'm on three more machines next year. Yep. Wow. Loved how Monstrous got brought up a few times. Yeah, there was some monster Easter eggs going on in there. You know, it makes you wonder if that might be like a... I have no idea what they're talking about. Dwight doesn't even look uncomfortable. No, no, the next title I think might be Weekend at Bernie's. That's a nice one from Stern. If I were to take, you know... I thought it was Ken and Ted's or Bill and Ted's. Bill and Ted's, yeah. That's for another show. Oh, all right. Alright, ready for another one? Yeah, sure, let's go. Hello everybody, this is Ed Ed Robertson from Bare Naked Ladies, wishing everyone listening to this special When Lit Pinball Podcast a happy holidays and a prosperous new year. I want to thank all those pinheads who reached out to me last year and invited me into their homes to play their collections or invited me out to events or just approached me in a barcade and played some pinball. It was a good year. Predictions for 2019? I think it's going to be a pretty exciting year. I will probably buy some pinball machines. I will certainly sell some pinball machines. I'm on the road with Hootie and the Blowfish for 43 dates in America, so maybe I will see some of you out there in the summer of 2019. Have fun everybody. Remember, it's pinball. It's supposed to be fun. Don't get your shorts in a knot about what some moron said on some forum somewhere. Just go play your machines. Have a good time. Go out on location. Support that local op. Drop some quarters or dollars into a machine or call up a friend and invite them over and play some friendly games of pinball. Thanks for listening. Happy holidays. Happy New Year. So that was pretty fun hearing from Ed Ed Robertson of... Ed's the man. ...Barenaked Ladies, right? Yeah. Absolutely. Yeah. Spot on. What do you guys think? I liked how he was, you know, enjoy pinball, don't worry about what someone says on a forum, it's all nonsense, and support your local coin art. Yeah, that was completely correct. And I liked how he said, go out and play pinball. Yeah, enjoy it. Yeah. We're seeing that, like, resonating more and more and more, play more pinball. The thing that I took out of that that I really liked was the fact that if you don't have the money to buy a machine and you don't have the money to get a new one boxed or use pin, you can still support pinball by playing it on location. I thought that was huge. The other thing selfishly that I loved, Hootie and the Blowfish and Bare Naked Ladies are going to be making the tours. I am going to Tinley Park and I invite you guys to come out and do this with me because that's going to be fun. I think I want to come. August 27th if I'm not mistaken. We're going to start the pinball Bare Naked Ladies, Hootie and the Blowfish tour party bus. I wonder if we could get backstage if we brought a pinball machine to set up backstage. Oh, I think he brings his own pinball machines backstage so we would have to get a VIP pass to try to grand champ his games. Yeah, that would be a good time though. You guys ready for the next one? Alright, let's go. Alright. Hello, it's Jeff Teoles from Pinball Profile. Thanks for having me on Special When Lit Podcast for this prediction show. Tough to do in 2019, but I know you guys have done a great job in such a short period of time, great interviews, and you really have a good passion and produce a wonderful product that so many people enjoy. Alright, I've got three predictions. I think in 2019 we will see more titles than we have in the last 30 years and great sales For every major company, I know Stern will continue to produce great products as well as Jersey Jack and Spooky will give us another great title in 2019. We'll be very impressed with what we see from Deeproot and once we get to see Oktoberfest in mass production, we will enjoy that game from American Pinball. My second prediction will be Mrs. Pin will be signed by a major craft company and her products will be sold worldwide at Targets and Walmarts and Hobby Lobbies. So we might lose her from the pinball community as she goes international. And my final prediction for 2019, Josh Sharpe will win his first major. As majors are expanded to 50 per year, including the Chicago Selfie League. So there you go. There you have it. You heard it here first on Special When Lit. Have yourself a great New Year's. Take care, guys. Hey, Special When Lit Podcast, it's Mrs. Pin. I'm coming at you today with my predictions and resolutions for 2019. Resolutions first. I resolve to play in at least 10 pinball tournaments this year. I also resolve to put out at least 50 more podcasts in 2019. And lastly, I resolve to try harder not to drain. As for my predictions for 2019, I think my resolution not to drain is going to crash and burn, but I'm going to give it my best. I'm also going to put out a Hail Mary that someone out there makes Snorks Pinball in 2019, because that would be the best. Lastly, I predict that Womps across the world are going to dominate in pinball, as they do already. I hope you guys have a wonderful holiday season and happy new year. I'm definitely curious to see if Miss Pin gets her own line. Her line of crafting? Her line of crafting. And Mrs. Pin, you know, I think she had a lot of good things to say with, you know, not draining and looking forward to seeing how this all pans out. And I was a little surprised because I didn't hear nothing about the pinmobile or the, you know, the F-bombs. The F-bombs? Yeah, no F-bombs. What the heck, man? I was like, you know... I don't think she ever gives F-bombs, but I don't know what you guys are talking about. Does she give F-bombs? The F-word? I don't know if you know about that, but that's okay. She keeps it real, and I like that. I appreciate that about her. What are your thoughts, Dwight? So those are two podcasters that I listen to every week. I love them both. I disagree with Jeff. I don't think that Josh will win anything in 2019. That's great. Sorry, Jeff. I think you're wrong. That's Dwight's 2019 prediction is that Jeff will be wrong. Right, Jeff will be wrong, and yeah, Josh Sharpe will not win anything. Josh, I'm pulling for you. You got one vote here. That's all. No, I listen to Jeff every week, and I think that Josh gets a bum deal there. Jeff is constantly picking on him, and it's not true. Josh could win someday. Yeah, for sure. Yeah, someday. I think the thing I respect about both of those podcasters is that Jeff brings such a sense Like she gets into pinball and the way that she's conveys her experiences, it's just really is a fun show to listen to. Dave lessons and the veteran pays out much to the rookie. Ready for another one! The veteran pays homage to the rookie. Right. Alright. You ready for another one? Sure. Let's go. Alright. What's up? Artist Donny Gillies (Dirty Donny) Gillies here. I am the guy that did the art for Metallica Pinball, Aerosmith, and Can Crusher. Do you have those pinballs? I like those pinballs. They're good pinballs. I've been fortunate enough to work with Stern on those. That was amazing. I've been doing art myself for 20 years full time. I do ink on paper. I wore them take on art. I just like the old school look. That's kind of what I'm known for in the pinball world, being the ink on paper guy. So I also have a YouTube channel called Donny TV. Anyways, my New Year's resolution is to stay healthy and to draw more. So anyways, I got thank yous to all the whole pinball community, everybody that plays pinball, comes out to the shows, all the barcades. That's my shout out, my thank you to my family and my My girlfriend Jenny. And anyways, you guys, I'll see you guys at the shows. Hey, guys, so that was Donny Gillies (Dirty Donny). And if we think past and about his past pinball machines, we have Metallica, right? Right. What else do we have? Aerosmith. Aerosmith, huge. Yep. And then Cancrusher, which was a re-theme of Onelli Big Juicy Melons. Yeah, correct. Greg Freres and Dennis Nordman title. So great art. Yep. Absolutely. Absolutely. All that you don't really see anywhere else in pinball right now. Yeah. A lot of the artists do differentiate. I mean, they have their own subtle styles that you can kind of pick apart, which is nice. Absolutely. I mean, like how we made the resolution to be healthier. Yeah, I think we could all use that resolution, at least down here in this studio. In this studio, yeah. Except for Dwight, Mr. Atlas. But who's winning in our bet? Like so we had what, two people say, I want to play more pinball, right? Right, and we had Jeff Chola said, I think 2019's gonna be a great year. Yep. Right, so I'm winning there. I think, is it two to one? I think it's two to two. I think so. I'll go two to two. Yeah. Two to two. All right. Two to two. That's the current, I just wanna keep, I'm keeping the score. I think what you're gonna see is that there are gonna be things that are gonna be running away that might surprise you. Are we gonna put a burrito on this? Sure. That means you actually have to come out from work and make it out for a burrito. You can't bring burritos to Stern? I could. Yeah. I could. I'm buying for you and you know. The time they get the Stern, I don't know that they're selvedgeable burritos. You put them in a cooler? But we have a microwave. You put a burrito in a cooler? Yeah, absolutely. It holds the heat in, it's perfect. You would have loved the bucket of chicken that got delivered from Evansville, Indiana with Greg Bone and his family bringing it over to Expo in our room that one time. Not when I see Steve eating it five hours later. And Steve was out for a few weeks after that. Yeah, he was. Anyways, I digress. So, Donny Gillies (Dirty Donny), good times. Steven Bowden, rules designer from Deeproot Pinball, In 2019, I hope to make positive contributions for Deeproot and to the pinball industry as we learn, grow, and prosper. I predict that the pinball market will expand as the resurgence continues, and still, even though there is much evidence to the contrary, no one will want to talk about competitive pinball. I want to give a heartfelt thank you to all of the dedicated staff of Deep Root Pinball for accepting me as a member of their pinball family. I also want to thank everyone who visits the funwithbonus.com website and other social media presences as I have been doing my best to cover the pinball scene for the past six and a half years. You are an inspiration to me. Happy New Year! This is David Thiel, pinball artist currently working with Deep Root Pinball. In 2019, I hope to create my best yet pinball music and sound effects for a bunch of deeproot pinball machines. 2019, I predict that pinball enthusiasts will enjoy the greatest selection of pinball machines ever. And I want to take this opportunity to thank all the great pinball people that I've had a chance to connect with in the past year In Germany, Vancouver, Canada, Tacoma, Washington, and all over the world through social media and podcasts like this one. So we had Steven Bowden and David Thiel, both deeproot representatives on the show. Gentlemen, we're going to go to Dwight this time. All right. Share some thoughts. And I think you had two ticks in the victory column for you, right? I did. I did. I did. As far as... They both predict big years for 2019, and I think I'm winning a burrito. I'll owe... You owe me now two burritos. Two burritos. debate engine debate engine debate engine He's just such a humble guy, I mean, such a likable guy, and to your point, for him to go out there and put himself out there at Pinball Expo saying, hey, I moved out here because... I believe in what they're doing. Yeah, and just wait and see what happens. I mean, that's huge. I think he took a little shot at the special Winlit Pinball Podcast about not talking about tournament talk, and I apologize about that because I respect the tournament players, but we're just not a tournament-driven show. It would be just too hard for us to follow. You've got Jeff Teelis for the tournaments.치를 Senior, The way he enunciates, I like that about him. So kudos to you, David Thiele. Yeah. You guys want to try another one out here for size? Let's go. All right, here we go. This is Dennis Kriesel, co-host of the Eclectic Gamers Podcast. I don't do resolutions, but I will give you a 2019 prediction. I think 2019 will be defined primarily by the conflict between Stern Pinball and Deep Root Pinball. Given the amounts of money that Deep Root Pinball has been spending, the quality of talent they've hired, and the expressed intent of releasing games that are priced lower than Stern Pros, I think they're focusing in on an area of the market that no other pinball manufacturer is accommodating aside from Stern. The big question as to whether this will be successful I think relies predominantly on whether production is able to be up and running for deeproot. That said, I do want to extend my thanks to everyone who's contacted me either about the podcasts that I do or the guest host gigs I've done Tony This is Tony of the Eclectic Gamers Podcast. In 2019, I hope to spend more time and energy on my hobbies, including pinball, and less I also predict that 2019 is going to be the most exciting year to be part of the pinball community since the resurgence began I would love to thank all of our listeners and all of the wonderful friends I have made over the last several years as part of this community Pinball is about people even more than the machines. So it's pretty fun hearing from Dennis and Tony from Eclectic Gamers Podcast. Now before I let you guys take the floor, Eclectic Gamers Podcast is one of my favorite podcasts and I enjoy listening to the banter between Dennis and Tony, The only one that I listen to that starts with pinball and ends with video games. And it's all-encompassing for me. So I'm going to throw the floor over to Bill Webb. Bill, what did you think about Dennis and Tony and their remarks, pinball predictions and resolutions for 2019? Well, I love Dennis, how he kind of called it as he saw it with Stern and Deeproot. That would be an interesting matchup to see one that actually comes to. Ding, ding. Not that we have a biased opinion in the audience, but that's fine. No, no, that's okay. Tony, I really enjoyed how he liked how people get brought together. That really meant a lot to me that he would say something. And going back on Dennis, he could build a cabinet if you wanted to. You always say that. You can always build a cabinet if you want to. Bill, you're good. You've got to just remember you're good at it. Anyone could be good. Bill knows he's good. Let's go to Dwight. Let's bounce the ball over to a Dwight Sullivan. So Dwight, give me all your objections about Stern and Deeper. What'd you take out of that whole situation? I think it's clear that Tony and Dennis are passionate people about lots of video games and pinball machines and I think they have good opinions. I listen to Dennis all the time. I like him quite a bit and it's interesting when he and Zach, I listened to him on This Week in Pinball because I haven't been fortunate enough to hear Eclectic Games. The Eclectic Gamers Podcast. Right. I thought it was a show and I don't really listen to shows. I listen to podcasts in my car so it's one of the ones I didn't pull down on my phone. I think I may have turned you on to podcasts originally. Maybe, maybe. So I'm going to encourage you, I'm going to link you to Eclectic Gamers Podcast because the dynamic between Dennis and Tony is a special thing. I honestly, I love the show. I'll give it a try. All right. Yeah, great. All right. Ready for another one? Yeah, let's go. Here we go. Hey everyone, this is Todd Tuckey from TNT Amusements. You can only hear me, but you all know what I'm doing when I do this. Or when I do this. Yeah, you remember that from the YouTube channel. Anyway, the pinball future is bright. That's what I think. There is so much great stuff coming out. I mean, really, really neat themes and all these different manufacturers are trying new ideas, which is really refreshing. And even the old reliables like Stern and Jersey Jack are coming out with some great new titles. I'm really excited about the future of pinball. I think everybody is too. And it really helps too because it gets people involved who might see a different theme like this Munsters that's coming out. That may attract a whole new breed of players and then they may be interested in other games too. And the same is true with Oktoberfest for American Pinball and of course the Pirates of the Caribbean from Jersey Jack. Boy oh boy, lots of stuff to film and I hope you guys are watching my channel. All TNT Amusements on YouTube. And of course, go on our website, tntamusements.com. We always have stuff for sale and we now have our bargain basement videos where you can buy stuff for a lot less money and do the work yourself. Anyway, they only gave me a minute, so I am up and out of here. And take it easy, guys. Keep playing pinball. Hey, so one of our favorite show guests, Todd Tucky, jumps in and throws some predictions We'll see you next time. Which was? Monsters? Yeah, I don't know. Who's making that game? The monster of a guest. Yeah, I'm not sure. Not sure, Dwight. I don't know anything about that. I'll say this about Todd. Like, he was the only gentleman in which I allowed his own personal theme music onto the show. There was no holiday Christmas background music for Todd Tuckey because he just identifies with living his good. So... Well, it'd be like arresting Willie Nelson for smoking marijuana. I mean, that's just un-American. Right. And now, the lady who was the star of the latest movie, the movie that's just un-American. Right. Todd's a good dude, man. It's always fun to hear from Todd, and happy holidays to that guy. But he did talk about another pinball going forward, and having fun times, a new theme coming out that's going to be popular from a major manufacturer. So, Dwight? So, I think I'm winning, right? Is that the burrito thing? So, we're trying to keep track of pinball moving forward versus playing more pinball. So, I think right now, I think the score is 6 to 4, Dwight's up. Yep. So we're going to go to the next one. You guys ready? Thanks, Scott. And again, you are listening to the Special Unlit Holiday Special as if you could turn the dial because you're already streaming from your podcast. So here we go. Here's another one. Hello, Bill Dwight and Ken Cromwell, you wonderful beard loving guy, you. This is John Doe, lead game designer from Awesome Pinball. Hmm. Oh, no way. Bug, did I screw that up? Yeah, you're not reading it right. Okay. This is actually Charlie from Spooky Pinball and my co-host bug, or actually I'm his co-host. You're reading an email. I am reading an email. So this is Charlie Emery, lead game designer from Awesome Pinball. In 2019, I hope to insert my resolution here. You're a lead game designer? No, that's Scott Danesi. He's got the title right now. He's sold more games than me, so he's a game designer. Until I design. Then you take over. Good. I'm all cool with this. In 2019, I hope to, my resolution here is, here's my resolution. I think that's pretty good. Spooky Pinball will not go out of business in 2019. We've already got enough work to get us through that year. My prediction is Scott Danesi's game, his second game, will be better than his first. That's my prediction. My prediction? Pain. No. My prediction is in 2019 we will see the most amount of pinball games announced in one year ever. That is a distinct possibility. It's a good year to be in pinball right now. They're everywhere. Feel free to offer any thank yous. Well, thanks for having us on the Special Winlet Podcast, guys. Right? That's cool. We're honored. It's nice to get outside of our spooky comfort zone and get off the spooky pinball podcast. It's like I'm going outside for the first time. But I like the holiday vibe you guys have got going here. And Happy New Year, Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, all that other wonderful stuff. And we'll see you on the other side in 2019. This is Scott Danesi from the future, designer of the Total Nuclear Annihilation Pinball Machine. Back in 2018 my New Year's resolution was to be a good human. I had also predicted that in the following year, 2019, that the end of human civilization would not happen. I was right. Everything is okay. I would like to thank all of the humans for all of the research currency donated to fund the development of AI technologies. I would also like to thank my friend http://www.scottdanesi.com/.58520128340.pdf. That is all, please do not panic. Well, that was pretty serious. I'm not going to lie to you. I'm a little concerned for my own well-being. But that was Scott Danesi from Pinball Life and of Danesi Designs who contracted out Total Nuclear Annihilation to be built by Chuck and family over at Spooky Pinball. Let's throw it to Dwight here on this one. Any reactions on this? Sure. No, that was very creative. I loved it. Scott's a creative guy. And he was Scott from the future, right? He's telling you... It was no prediction. viewers obviously wouldn't want to miss this special segment so guys stay tuned for the Panda Extra segment... Like, hurricane style. Extra toilet paper, extra Two Brothers Pinball pale ale. And hygiene products. No, Scott's a good dude. Looking forward to see his next game, too. It was fun. And for those, full disclosure here... What can you tell us about that? What can you tell us about your game? I don't know what you're talking about. Oh, neither do I, because I'm not the one designing that. Hey! Ayo! But with Scott, I mean, that was submitted by Scott. That was his... that was from him. And that was not us on our end. And I will say this for those of you that like to look far into things. There is an Easter egg or two or three within that message. And if you get an opportunity and you can decipher the Easter eggs and you want to post it on our page, might be a little prize in store from you. So we'll, or for you. So we'll, we'll take it from there. You guys ready for another one? Yep. All right. Yo soy Terry Dessort, dueño de Pinball Live. En el 2019, mi resolución es mantenerme alejado del pasillo de pañales para adultos de mi Walmart, Loser Kid Pinball. I'm here with my local Walmart adult. My prediction for 2019 is that pinball companies will make a million dollars. Also, all those who are into pinball will make a million dollars. Oh, shit! I just have to say that my prediction for 2019 is that everyone in the world will make a million dollars. I want to thank my lucky astrologer ring for all the luck that it has brought me this year. Alright, so that was Terry Dyswart from Pinball Life. So clearly I'm winning. That was three votes for me. Okay, listen, listen. She said three times, you know, play more pinball. Clearly. I was listening to you. Is that where you guys are going with this? Because I'll be honest, like we've played all of these and there's been like some side discussion going on in all these during every single one of these submissions. And then this one that was in Spanish, now I was the idiot that when I had an opportunity We had to take a foreign language in junior high and high school. I took French thinking I was going to pick up the chicks and I did not ever utilize that so my spanish is bad. I don't know what was said. I'm not sure what exactly happened there, but I did notice that the both of you were so intent on listening. Do either one of you speak spanish? No, I can slightly pick out some of the things she was saying. I can pick out that Dwight's losing by seven to six. Oh, okay. Something about money. I picked out the word year. I picked out Terry Deswart and this is just my lack of comprehension. Well, it was kind of English there. Yeah, oh, was it? Kind of. I thought that was his name in Spanish. He just kind of goes like Rico Suave. Yep, yep. So, I was, hey, and if somebody can decipher that. Feliz Navidad. Feliz Navidad was the background music. If somebody can decipher that message and post that to our Facebook page, there might be a little prize in store for you too. Thanks Terry and thanks for the use of the spokeswoman. That was awesome. And in Terry style, it's quirky and off the cuff and you have to take a few minutes to figure out what the hell's going on. You ready for another one? Let's roll. Alright, let's go. Hi, this is Josh Coogler. I'm the Director of Software Engineering at American Pinball. My resolution for the new year is first to actually work on my machines at home and get them all up and running. They've been ignored for too long and gathering dust. So I'm hoping to spend some time on that, if I can balance that with what's going on here at American Pinball. My other resolution is to continue to look for ways in our next games to wow people doing things with the rules or with the machine that people haven't seen before. I do want to thank my wife for putting up with the incredibly long hours I work. She can't figure out how I could be gone so much all day and then come home and work on the code and work on the machine. So I appreciate her patience. I keep promising her it'll get better, but let's face it, we all know that's not the case. As far as a prediction for next year, I think we will see more games announced and revealed than we have ever seen in this century. And I also think we'll see some existing companies potentially start to fade away, but it should be a very interesting and exciting year for pinball. Hello, this is Nirmal Vasani from American Pinball. In 2019, American Pinball is going to double our workforce and our throughput and maintain the excellent production quality we've been known for. I would like to thank the entire API team for their support in helping us with this goal. So apparently that was only 20 seconds, I got 40 more to fill, so how's about we just wait for 10. So how's your day been, Ken? Hey, what's up, Nirmal? Everything going okay? It's going well. Awesome, awesome, awesome. Thanks for coming. Are we at 60 yet? Almost. Alright, three? 20 more seconds. Oh, okay, okay, okay, 20 more seconds. Alright. So about that Carl Weathers, huh? It's cold, dude. Tell us all your industry secrets. Alright, well... In two more seconds. Alright, let me know exactly when it's going to be 60, because I'm going to reveal game three at the last second. Ten more. Eight, seven, six, five, four, three, two, one. And Game 3 is going to be... All right, so I don't know how good he's going to be on that resolution for next year. He's got to do what he's got to do. I have my doubts. And we hope that he gets his pinball machines up and running that are in his house. Oh, absolutely. Yeah. Yes. Yep. Interesting, too. So then you have Nermal, who's the sales in Maroon. What a wacky dude. Yeah, he's a wacky. He's a fun guy, man. And he just likes to have a good time. And it's kind of refreshing to have somebody that's just kind of not taking everything The Out of Pinball Podcast is brought to you by the Out of Pinball Podcast Network. Jonathan and Martin reveal their new year resolutions. Predictions for 2019. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Hi, my name is Jonathan Huston. And I'm Martin Ayub. And we're both respectively from Pinball Magazine and Pinball News. My resolution for 2019 is finally finish the Python Anghelo issue of Pinball Magazine, which should be Pinball Magazine number six. And I also hope to play more pinball next year. Well, it's funny, I'm in the same kind of boat as you, because since giving up playing tournaments, I haven't been playing an awful lot of pinball either. So I definitely want to get back into that groove and And start enjoying playing pinball on location and rather than just going to shows and talking shows that's one of the one of my personal resolutions next year is to try and mix up a bit the selection of shows which I go to and report from and of course you and I have our joint resolution to continue doing our podcast together which we do the beginning of every month or the end of the previous one looking back on the on the past month. If I may speak out for something that I hope that will happen in 2019 is that pinball manufacturers will actually tap back into the operator market. I'm confident that if they come up with the right type of games, operators would still be interested in operating pinball machines as long as they are making money on it. Okay, let's call that your prediction. I will actually kind of piggyback on to that idea as well and say that one of the things I think will go hand in hand with that is the appreciation of Simpler, easier to understand rule sets which don't confuse the player so much as many of the most recent ones have. And I think part of that is going to be having a lot fewer of these massive selection screens throughout the game. Get rid of all that, get the game flowing, the ball moving all the time and do selections from the shots that you make. Those are the ones which will determine what you're doing. If you go and look back at some of the older games like, you know, the Addams Family, Twilight Zone, you know, You don't choose which mode you're going to play at any particular point. The mode is lit and if you don't like it you shoot for something else and you change it to a different one. Rather than having to shoot into the chair or the scoop or the piano or whatever and then have a list of 20 different modes to play. No. Make it simpler to understand and more fun to play. Right, I completely agree with that. Hold on, what I hear? Is it you? No, it's not me. Hold on, let me check. Oh, I've got a missed call though. I'm just calling Gary Flower. You know what? That would be a really good New Year's Resolution for us to actually get him onto our podcast at some point during the year rather than just missing his calls. Is he still there, by the way? He just hung up. So on behalf of Gary, me, and you, we wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! So there we had Jonathan and Martin from Pinball News Pinball Magazine. They've got their podcast which is fun. I'm going to full disclosure here, guys. They had a nice studio produced to kind of lead in with their resolutions, their predictions, but they kind of had their own mini podcast within our podcast, which I thought was kind of interesting. Also, I have no idea who Gary Flower is, so somebody's going to have to clue me in on who that is. Gary Flower, he's in the journalism business, too. He's a photographer. He used to hang out with Jim Shelberg forever. He used to help Jim Shelberg, but they had a falling out. That was a long time ago. I learned something new today. I mean, for them to mention him, it had to be pretty respectful, so that's pretty awesome. So Gary Flowers, like a journalism guy. Play more pinball. That's two to the good for Bill, so I think that we're tied now, Dwight. Seven-seven? Seven-seven. All right. That's the official score. Bring more coin-op back, which is a great thing. Yep. Cater to the operator, right? Cater to the operator. Gary Stern would love to hear that. Yeah, absolutely. So, you know, best part's that in my eyes, you know. Yeah. Gary Flower, I apologize, man. I'm going to have to do some research. I'm sure I know your work. I just don't know you by name. And hopefully this podcast extends the opportunity for people to realize exactly who Gary Flower is. Right. All right. Let's get another one. You ready? Yep. On to the next, as Jay-Z would say. This is Jeff Patterson, editor and creator of This Week in Pinball. In 2019, I hope to keep TWiP going and to get to Armageddon on dialed in. I'm dialed in and maybe even show down. I did change the settings to let the SIM card stay lit from ball to ball. Don't judge me. Predictions for 2019. I predict that Notre Dame beats Clemson, then beats Alabama for the national championship. More realistically and more pinball related in 2019, I think we'll see more pinball machines He's released from major manufacturers than we saw in 2018. That's not including Deeproot. Also, I think that Stern going online could provide some very big opportunities and improvements to the hobby. It's going to be a very interesting year. As far as people to thank, there are too many people to thank individually but thank you Jeff Patterson, This Week in Pinball, We started in podcasting and we wanted to have news as part of our segments. This Week in Pinball was the go-to source for that news and I think he's fueled a lot of content for podcasters. So my utmost respect for Jeff Patterson, but I'm curious to kind of hear your thoughts on his general predictions and resolutions other than Notre Dame. I don't know that we can speak to that or not. No, no. But what do you guys think of it with Jeff? I think he was right on. I think I agree with you completely. I think Jeff has brought news back into pinball. Not necessarily back into pinball, but he's moved it to the forefront. All the podcasters latched onto it. They're all using his content every week. Jeff's the man. We hope that he keeps it going in 2019. That was the beginning part. Can't forget about that. So, Jeff, thank you very much for all the hours of dedication that you put into doing this. Absolutely. Yeah. And it's nice for him to give call-outs to everybody, not just the manufacturers, but The tournament directors and the show promoters and everybody, all encompassing from Jeff. So I wouldn't expect any less from a class act like that, gentlemen. So thanks, Jeff. Yep. Hey, Special Win Lit Podcast. Hey, Bill. Hey, Ken. This is Zach and Greg from Straight Down the Middle, a pinball show. Are you there, Greg? I'm here, sir. Hey, what's happening? We've got to give these guys some New Year's resolutions as well as some predictions for Pinball 2019. I'm John Popadiuk, and I'll see you next time on Pinball News. A new and different way. It's kind of some foreshadowing there. Also, I think one of our resolutions, buddy, should be to actually review a pinball machine and give it a worse grade than a B. How about that? Yeah, I like a B. What are your resolutions? Hmm. Play more tournaments. Oh, that's a good one. Yeah, I want to play more serious. I need to get more serious about my pinball. Uh, guys? Yeah, Dr. Phil? Thanks, Craig. Uh, I got a resolution. My resolution's to be nicer to Ken Cromwell. You know the poor guy he takes so much heat from me I gonna be nicer in 2019 But until then it still 2018 I got a couple more doozies here Here we go Ken you fat I not gonna sugarcoat it because if I did you try to eat that too Here's another one. You can't play the game of life with sweaty palms, Ken. Last one. You know when your dog will look down after he's done something wrong, right? Well, a snake will look you right in the eye. All right, Dr. Phil, I appreciate that. Greg, what are some of your predictions for 2019, buddy in pinball? The Stern will finally . Oh, Stern. . Is that too far out there? That's about as much as me stopping drinking. Yeah, Ken's going to cut that. Okay. . Maybe we win another Twippy? Yeah, hell yeah. We're gonna win another Twippy. Oh, sweet. And I think we're gonna see Deep Root make their deadline. Oh, their, well, not their original one. No, what, their June 30th one. I'm gonna predict that Bill Webb, uh, his voice is gonna change to better match the way he looks. Poor Bill. And I think Kim Cromwell, I predict that Kim Cromwell is gonna host the first ever pinball game show. He just has that voice. He does have that voice. In all seriousness, I think that we're going to see three more pinball manufacturers in 2019. Not that they'll be successful, but there will be three more. And I'm also predicting that there are going to be three less pinball podcasts. Ooh. Huh? Last, but certainly not least, my last prediction for pinball in 2019, I think we're going to see a near perfect pinball machine produced. Design, art, code, layout, music, you name it. It's going to be near perfect. For your information about any of the pro gaming Sims you watched in ... I'm a team member of Team Zach. What does that mean? What kind of perks and benefits are you getting from Team Zach? I can't go into it because this is a rated PG podcast. Oh, there's some R-rated exclusivity going on on Team Zach? No, it's awesome perks is what it is. All right. Great perks. I've been working on the Team Zach theme song. Really? Any progress on that? Would you like to share anything? Have just the beginnings, just the beginning, you want to hear it? Yeah, can we do it right here? Sure, sure, just the beginnings of it, right? Okay, are you going to sing it? If you want me to. Without further ado, Dwight Sullivan, Team Zach. Team Zach, team Zach, team Zach, that's all I got. It's an original. Right. I need some more members of the team before I can continue it. Right, right. So you need to like plug in with other... Yeah. Yeah, nice. All right, cool. Hey, that's awesome. That's what it's all about. Hey, it's the holidays and you know what, Zach and Greg, thank you. And I guess by association, Dwight, thank you with, along with Zach's thank you because you're on his team. Right, right. Curious to see who Greg is able to acquire and always good to hear from Dr. Phil. Yeah, always. Always. The most prominent cabinet builder in pinball. Ken, I don't think you're that fat. I don't. I think Phil is a little mean there. I've been meaning to shed a few pounds. But don't worry, I'm carrying my winter weight. I'm gonna gain a lot more weight so my voice matches what it should in his eyes. I don't know what that means. Because the first time we met he was like, your voice doesn't match your profile. We had that conversation. You know, when I met Zach and Jeff both at Expo, that was my exact first thought of both of them, that they were not what I thought. Like, Zach does not look like Zach, right? Oh, yeah, see? It goes both ways, two-way street. Because Zach sounds like my brother and I was expecting, you know, like Floridian, six feet five, you know, right, deep voice. Right, and what did you ultimately get? I got Zach. Which is not serviceable. Right. Right. Because, you know, like spiked hair and, you know. Did he have spiked hair? No, it wasn't. He's got trendy hair. Trendy hair, right. But it wasn't, yeah. It wasn't nothing wrong with it, but just, yeah. It wasn't what I thought. In all fairness, he lives five hours closer to Florida than we do. Yeah, and in a southern, oh, hey. My first F-bomb tonight. Hey. And that F-bomb was brought to you by Mrs. Pin's Pinball Podcast. More than just a podcast, it's a podcast about pinball. Pinball is a game of pinball. Pinball is a game of pinball. Pinball is a game of pinball. And that F-bomb was brought to you by Mrs. Pin's Pinball Podcast. More than just a podcast, an F-bomb. Good times. We're having fun tonight, gentlemen. All right. Eric Wurtenberger Hey, everybody. This is Eric Wurtenberger, aka Chuck Wurt of Pinsanetti Pinball Show, Straight Down the Middle Streaming, NKY Pinball, and Cincy Pinball. My 2019 New Year's resolution would be to take all the feedback we received on Pinsanetti, The first annual Cincinnati Pinball Show and make it even better for year two. As for my 2019 prediction, I say Scott Danesi announces his game number two for Spooky Pinball and it will have at least one mech never before seen in pinball. I want to again thank everyone that came out for the first annual Cincinnati Pinball Show, Pinsanati. We had tons of support our first year. We couldn't imagine it going any better and we will continue to make that show better Thank you. This is Nick Lane from Buffalo Pinball. My prediction for 2019 is that we're going to continue to ride this wave of pinball greatness. We're truly in a new renaissance period for pinball where some of the best new games are coming out, new pinball companies seem to be forming all the time, classics from 20 to 30 years ago are being remade, and location pinball is not only a thing but it's thriving at this point. This is truly an exciting time for pinball. I'm also predicting that Jersey Jack's Pirates of the Caribbean will win the Twippy Award for Game of the Year. It's truly an outstanding and, in my humble opinion, the best pinball machine ever made. My resolution is to keep doing what I love doing, which is promoting pinball. What's up pinball players? This is Kevin from Buffalo Pinball. In 2019, my New Year's resolution is to get to Texas Pinball Festival. I've never been. I've heard nothing but great things about it, so I want to get out there and check it out for myself. Hopefully I'll see you there. My prediction for 2019 is that everybody is going to wait to play a pinball machine before they criticize it on the internet. Big thanks to Ken and Bill from the Special One Lit Podcast for offering us this opportunity to share our 2019 predictions with you. And a huge thanks to all of our viewers, listeners, subscribers, anybody who hangs out with us in chat on Twitch or leaves comments on Facebook or YouTube. And especially to everybody in the hometown Buffalo pinball scene. It's awesome playing with you guys in all of our leagues and tournaments and we'll see you at the next one. To the entire pinball community, happy holidays, have a great new year, and we'll see you in 2019. Hey there pinheads, it's Jack Danger from Dead Flip here. I just want to wish everyone a happy holidays, a happy new year. This past year has been insane for pinball and for myself. There's just been so much going on. And I just want to say thank you all for your support over the past year. It's been freaking insane. We've seen a lot of cool stuff and I think next year is going to be just bananas. With all the announcements and all the rumors and all the innovations that are on the horizon, I think 2019 is going to be the year that pinball just really blows the doors off of everything and everyone. So, uh, yeah, I can't wait for that ride. Expect to see me in the swimsuit calendar, I'm sure, for some pinball related stuff. I don't know. Uh, I love you guys. Have an awesome new year and, uh, go play some pinball. I love you. Ken Cromwell, Bill Webb, great freaking show, gentlemen. Ho, ho, ho! Pinball Santa here. I would like to wish a very festive flippers and butts up to Jack Danger. Merry Christmas, Jack! I mean, Dwight, what do you think? I think that's some solid predictions from some great guys that are helping to grow the pinball community, grow the pinball industry. It's awesome what they do. I know Chuck, at least I feel like I know him really well because he's- That's Chuck Wirt who's Eric, right? Yeah, yeah, sorry. Yep. Chuck Wirt's his pin side persona, his screen name, Eric. Yeah. Oh, right, right. He's one of the more ... Never mind. Okay. Now, he's helped you, or you guys have communicated offline, or like, how does that work? Eric is one of my beta testers. I've known him for a long time now. Every time I, you know, I have code that needs beta testing, I send it out to Eric and he helps me out quite a bit. Very, very cool. Yeah, and of course, Jack Danger, I've known for a long time and he's awesome, and the Buffalo Pinball guys do great work too. Yeah, they all do. Yeah, lots of good things there. Love how they talked about playing more pinball and getting more involved. What about the prediction of Pirates of the Caribbean winning the Twippy for the pinball machine of the year? Anybody have anything else that they might want to... And Dwight, we're going to leave you out of this. You're a Stern employee, so potentially you could be biased. Although I know you'd be brutally honest off mic. But let's go to Bill here for a second. Is there any other pinball machine that you want to talk about that might be in contention for the pinball machine of the year? I'd be curious if Deadpool would be a strong runner-up in all honesty. Oh, Deadpool's my baby! Loving a little Deadpool. Looking at it right now. I think that'd be a good race right there. Oh, that's my baby, Deadpool. Yeah, so it'll be interesting to see come March. All that being said, Pirates of the Caribbean is an incredible machine and I just don't own it, so I don't have a lot of time on it. So we'll see what happens. All of these are great though. Everyone puts their heart and soul into, you know, for all the people that stay late working on these things, you know, whether, you know, it's somebody's dream team or not, you know, thank you for taking the time and putting all that effort into making such great games. Now my voting might be skewed a little bit if I had Pirates of the Caribbean in my basement. That might be. So Eric Minier, if you're out there and you've got some... Well, you can just drive to Zach's house, right? Right. That's like eight hours away. Eight short hours I can go play Pirates at Zach's house. Just a bit outside Indianapolis. By two and a half hours, I think. Let's move on. Not by two hours. Let's move on. Let's edit some of that. Hi, everybody. This is Gerry Stellenberg from Multimorphic. In 2019, we'll go into volume production on the fourth complete game kit for our P3 pinball platform, and we'll introduce highly requested, complex mechanical features in the lower portion of the play field. That'll bring our total available game count to over 10 titles. I predict that in 2019, we'll also see at least one and maybe two more fully custom P-Rock based pinball machines going into mass production. It's going to be a fantastic year for the evolution of pinball. And I wish everybody a safe, healthy and happy new year. Hey, so Jerry, short and sweet, right to the point, talks about some innovations in his company moving forward. Exciting. And just, yeah. Have either one of you had an opportunity really to kind of sit down and play the multi-morphic platform? Oh, I have, yeah. Yeah. Not yet. It's pretty fun. It is really fun. I know you kind of spoke highly about it, so I definitely need to get on one when I get a chance. But you've also played it as well, huh? Yeah, at Expo. Yeah. Okay. In my opinion, it's come such a long way since its initial reveal and launch, and it's exciting to hear that Jerry is adding now more mechanical options for the bottom half of the playfield. I think that was the one thing that might have been holding it back from the pinball purists, so I think that was a great little tease from Jerry, and I appreciate you dropped We're going to have a little Easter egg on the special Wendland Pinball Podcast holiday special. Yeah, it's exciting that he's staying with it and growing it and making it better. He's in it for the long haul, it seems like. So exciting things for 2019, Multimorphic. Thanks, Jerry. Hello, this is Ron Hallett. And Bruce Nightingale. Of the Slam Tilt Podcast. And for 2019, my New Year's resolution is going to be I'm going to buy me a Mouse and Around or a Star Wars. How about you, Bruce? My resolution is going to be I'm going to buy me a Catacomb. Toast. Excellent. In 2019, I predict that pinball prices will continue to rise, Pinside will continue to get meaner, and the Slam Tilt Podcast will be on the air a lot less. I predict we're going to have a Buddy Holly pinball machine based off a Stargazer from Kapow Pinball. Cool, I mean sign me up. Oh, I'm there. Happy New Year everybody. Happy 2019 guys. Happy Holidays everyone, this is Kaneda from Kaneda's Pinball Podcast, the one podcast that no one ever admits to listening to. I want to thank Ken and all of you out there for being the best hobbyists in the world. Super excited that pinball is a part of all of our lives. So my 2019 resolution is this. I am no longer going to say anything bad about Team Pinball's The Mafia Pinball Machine. In fact, now that I think about it, I think it is the greatest pinball machine the world has ever seen. And my prediction for 2019 is that we're going to see a thinning out of pinball manufacturers. There's just way too many and there's no room for new pinball unless those machines are fantastic. Alright, and we're going to see half of these boutiques are trying to become players. They're going to go out of business by the end of the year. Everyone, thank you so much for being a part of this incredible hobby and thank you Ken and to everyone else out there who makes games, who plays games, who runs tournaments. As much as we argue back and forth what makes this hobby so The pinball show is a production of the Canadian Pinball Association. Any resemblance to actual people, living or dead, is coincidental and unintentional. You buy more pinball machines for home. Mine is to buy less and also to interview Dwight Sullivan, the big fish of the industry. I hope that he is reading this right now. And I hope he's never heard what you've said about him before. I love him. Yeah, he's awesome. New Year's prediction for 2019? I feel we're all going to get deep-rooted in 2019. What about you, Ryan? The feeling is mutual. Thanks, guys. We love your podcast and here's to many more. See ya. Bye. So good times. Ron and Bruce from Slam Tilt Podcast. We got a little Chris Kaluas from Kaneda's Pinball Podcast and then closing that out, Ryan and Marty from Head to Head. Oh, so that was Kaneda? I never heard him before. Oh, really? Really. He's a very polarizing and I don't know, controversial podcaster. Oh, all right. Yeah. Have you heard Slam Tilt Podcast? Slam Tilt's been around forever. They arguably pioneered the podcasting community, and they vowed to kind of take a little bit of a break. You heard it in the prediction. You're going to hear a little bit less of them in 2019. They're putting the brakes on a little bit and holding back. I like that they're thinking about Star Wars or Mousin' Around. Mousin' Around's an underrated game, I think. Yeah, that's perfect. That's good. And in closing, we had... Ryan and Marty. The big dogs. The heavy hitters. Well, Ryan wants to go ahead and his New Year's resolution is to interview a Dwight Sullivan. So Dwight, how do we- So I think he needs to pay me money now to make that happen. Right. Well, they do have Patreon set up, so probably specifically for this type of a situation. They said, you know, 20 bucks and yeah, I can be an interviewer. Is it 20 bucks? Isn't that what you paid me? Well, you owe me 30 because I thought it was a gift card to Olive Garden or something. Sure. Okay. I'm easy. Yeah. Burritos keep coming up. Yeah. I'll tell you, the burritos are colder in the wintertime and the fact that Bill's transporting those in coolers. Hey, you know what? When you have a 10 minute ride back to work, you get a cooler, you throw them in the cooler and you wrap them things and you're good. Stern has lots of microwaves, so we're good. Yeah. Clean by Brian. A plethora. Brian Eddy's been on that microwave wall just recently as a matter of fact. Right. This is Eric Minier, game designer from Jersey Jack Pinball, designer of Pirates of the Ken asked me to take a moment and give my insight into 2019 and really what It's been said that the best way to predict the future is to invent it. And I can tell you that at Jersey Jack, we are inventing it. And I wouldn't buy anything until you see our next game, as it'll really be something special. Promise. In fact, 2019 will bring more than one new game from Jersey Jack Pinball. And I just wanted to wish on behalf of me, and everybody else at my company, I'm your host, Eric Meunier, and I hope you're having a great day. I'll see you next time on Pinball Podcast. Take care. So, interesting remarks there. One, Eric Meunier sounded like he was on like a secret spy mission and he was ducked into the corner, not allowing audio to travel down the hall where he might be intercepted by the enemy under enemy lines. I feel I'd actually love to have done it even if I was formerly a portable remote-controlled Poly行ic . Whoa! Oh man, this is going to be your best. I am the only one using it right now. Well, given the internet that's in our system because this isn't a very oranges-and-beots version of sitcom, I'll say, what, when you don't actually, unless you're a Not-B palate user, you're just trite polygrams, little-file characters posting on a platform in the middle corner of Concord Field Hall and Erin investor Phil. Next, and then the thing that really intrigued me was this. Two games. Two games in 2019, which leads me to believe now, where I didn't think it was going to happen, I think there's going to be a reveal at Texas Pinball Festival, because with deeproot bowing out, guys, who's going to control the show? And at least this isn't a pinball news segment. Let's go to Dwight. Dwight, what do you have to think about this? I think you're right. I think they will come out with something in March, and then Jack's already said in Jack's already said in another podcast that he wants to do a release every nine months. So if they do it in March, then nine months later maybe another one. That was, for the record, the head-to-head pinball podcast with Ryan and Marty. That was a Ryan interview where he said, thank you. Two games, or a game every nine months. Bill, what are you thinking? Looking forward to that. I think they make a great product. Jack just seems like a genuinely awesome guy. I mean, we had a chance to meet him and super fun guy. Yeah, yeah, yeah. So good, good things to come from them. Yeah. So hey, hey, that's exactly what this show is about. Eric, I completely agree with Eric. I just want you were about to move on. I am. Eric and he said he wants to meet more people in the industry. And I would Eric's one of the people that I would love to meet next chance I get. Oh, I so that's it. And it's ironic. You guys work like a mile and a half away from one another. Yep. Yep. Maybe you maybe you know, it might it might take it might wait till October but Or why don't we just meet up for a Portillo's lunch? I love that idea. That'd be fun. We'll figure that out because you guys are two of my favorites, although Dwight, you are my ultimate favorite. Of course, because I'm sitting right here. I love you. We like you that much more every time we see you, so you got to come out more. That's how that works. All right. All right. All right. They call me Zombie Yeti, but you can call me Zombietti. Hi, I'm an illustrator with a heart of gold. I try to make art stuff that I don't hate, and you may have seen some of my work recently after a big holiday meal. Long ago I was once known as the guy who made pinball art that costed you the monies but never got produced. Thankfully that ain't the case no more, as recently I've been fortunate enough to create art for the heavies at Stern Pinball that actually have been produced. So now that you know who I am, I can safely assume you respect me and care greatly about my opinions. As such, I shall now share some of my innermost private thoughts and wishes for this coming new year ahead. I'm personally wishing that 2019 is chock full of more great pinball podcasts than you can shake a stick at, as well as ads and product placement throughout said podcasts. I wish for endless speculation on what will be the next big pinnacle of suck on pin side. Will it be something I worked on? I hope so. As for pinball predictions for 2019, I'll be serious for a moment and say that I foresee nothing but disappointment and sadness. I see many a keyboard beaten with sad rage and soaked in a never-ending sea of tears throughout the year as every new machine is revealed. But enough about pin side. I also predict that 2019 will bring in the era of the original holiday themed non-licensed pin. The world we live in. 2019 will bring plenty of great pinball and no doubt plenty of hubris by companies looking to make a splash while ultimately disappointing on said outrageous braggadocious claims because, well, reality is a thing. I also see a ton of good times to be had at various pinball shows throughout the year Outro All the best in the future I also appreciate your patience and ability to understand satire and not be so hasty to sue when someone's obviously just making a joke. That's awesome. Jeremy. I don't know where to begin. More. He hates podcasts. More podcasts. He hates pins. He doesn't stick it. So guys, wait, wait. I talk with Jeremy quite a bit and he doesn't hate podcasts. He doesn't hate pin side, I don't think. He just likes to riff on whatever's happening. He likes satire. He likes coming up with little one-liners. He's just who he is. Is there ever like a serious moment with a zombie? I've never seen a serious moment with Zombietti. In my short interactions with him, I have not either. No, he's always been just off the cuff. He's throwing it out there. I have trouble keeping up with him because I like to be the guy that's coming up with little stupid things that are said and people chuckle at and then make fun of me later. So when he and I go to lunch together with like five other guys, they make us sit over in the corner. Ironically, that was the first submission I got on the show, and that kind of set the bar for me. I was like, oh man, this is going to be pretty interesting. So Jeremy, thank you so much for the entertainment value, and I'm interested to see... dude, take a break, man. Like, take three days off. Yeah, go on vacation. Stop illustrating pinball for three days. Yeah. You know, relax. You owe it to yourself. No? Dwight? He does. He absolutely does. Hi, this is Zach Sharp, Director of Marketing for Stern Pinball, and I cannot confirm or deny what my resolution or predictions are for pinball. Just kidding! Actually, I think this next year is going to be incredible for pinball exposure to the world. The Stern Pro Circuit, I can't wait to see what we have in store this March and the 2019 season. And the Stern Army continues to grow, and I can't wait to see what pinball has in store. Happy holidays to everyone, and thank you Ken and Bill for everything you guys do. I'm Tanyo Klyce, and I'm a game developer at Stern Pinball. My prediction for 2019 is that the TOTS division for pinball tournaments is going to become a thing again. Maybe a big money thing, we'll see. I don't know if betting is... We probably shouldn't talk about that. My resolution for 2019 is to practice pinball and get better again, and also to learn the The rules of all the games that are not Deadpool that we've made since I've been making Deadpool. I have a lot of catching up to do. Well, first I'd like to thank all the people here at Stern Pinball, all the people I work with, George Gomez in particular, and Zombietti. It was just incredible working with that team and all the guys on our team for Deadpool. It's really fulfilling to work with very talented and passionate people. So, and then I'd like to, I'd also like to thank the folks at the Pacific Pinball Museum who helped me, kind of got me re-hooked into pinball back in 2007 or so. Michael Sheese, Dan Fonce, and Jim, and also Wade Krause and Donny Gillies (Dirty Donny) who, they were my collaborators on the first pinball project I did which was the customization of Earthshaker into Metallica Pinball. And I especially like to thank all the people out there playing pinball and all the new people coming in and all the people who are, you know, everybody playing and enjoying the games. I just, it's been incredible being part of watching this huge growth that's happened since 2008 of the whole pinball industry and the pinball hobby and the pinball everything. I'm looking forward to watching it continue to blossom and grow and slowly take over all forms of media. Hi everyone, Steve Ritchie here. In 2019, I am hoping that pinball players everywhere get the machines they want and that the excitement, fun, and fellowship generated among pinball players, friends, and families remains positive. The holidays are a time when kids might be their happiest and most excited. Few things make me happier than seeing kids playing pinball as part of celebrating the holidays. I predict that we will continue to see an increase in pinball fans and players in 2019. I want to thank pinball fans for staying in touch and being enthusiastic about our favorite pastime. I wish you all the very best for the coming holidays and I recommend that you play better. This is Gary Stern sitting here with George Gomez. Hello everybody. I'm making a prediction and a resolution. My resolution is to continue to make great games for the next year, and my prediction is that George will continue to make great games for the next year. Ah, you stole one of mine. My resolution was to continue to make great games. Well, it's still your resolution. It's still your resolution. It's still my resolution. We are resolved together to make great games. And my prediction is that everyone is really going to like the next Stern game. Oh, I should have said that. That's my prediction. I should have said that. But he's right because I've been playing. He's right. There you go. There's our resolution to the prediction. So, happy holidays and merry Christmas everybody. And I need to very much thank all of the people that work here creating these games, building these games, accounting for these games, all the things that make a company work. There's probably 350 people in this building today, all working very hard to produce games for you all, and we have to thank you all for your support. So happy holidays and thank you very much. I want to thank everybody out there for their enthusiasm and their passion for the games. It really kind of makes what we do feel worthwhile. So thanks and happy holidays. So I, you know, I saved that for the end of the show because there were so many things that were impactful that was discussed or that were discussed during that. And to hear the passion of a new Tanyo Klyce as far as like getting control of his own game for the first time and just to hear his excitement and everything that had gone into that game and the passion and for him to be appreciative and optimistic I thought was huge. Number two, I mean, listening to Steve Ritchie, Steve Ritchie, who a lot of people don't know on a personal level. And we've I mean, Dwight, you know, Steve better than any of us here, obviously. But to kind of hear him have a soft heart about hearing how kids and playing pinball softens his heart around the holidays and then ultimately reminding you to play better, I thought was impactful. The Out Pinball Podcast is brought to you by Pinball Brothers. Both of your thoughts on all of those comments by all four of those gentlemen. I definitely want to jump in on one thing with Steve saying it warms his heart to see the kids playing pinball. So definitely over Christmas, guys, fire up the machines, get more kids into this, let them play it. If they break it, that's what they're meant for, but got to get more kids involved. Steve MOur toutes you you so you can't really think about Steve Steve having a soft spot but he does and and you know it I agree with him completely when you see kids play your games it's it's awesome it's it really is yeah I had a side conversation during that recording session at Stern and I had told Tanyo when we were sitting down I said listen I you know I got a deadpool here and of all the pinball machines that I've had come in and out of this house over the Whip man An adult-oriented theme because she never would have experienced that. And because of that machine that George and Tanyo and a whole team at Stern put together, I've got a three-and-a-half-year-old now that's passionate about pinball. And for those of you that are listening, it's about the next generation. Our generation and the generation before us will fizzle out. And with the resurgence of pinball that's going on right now, it's all about the next generation. Hi, this is Roger Sharp, probably best known as being the father of Josh and Zach. In 2019, wow, I hope that I can continue to play pinball and be halfway reasonably okay. But more importantly, my prediction for 2019 is that pinball is going to continue to grow and be as popular and as successful as it has been for a long time. Happy holidays. Happy New Year to one and all. So Roger Sharp closes out the program, the 2018 into 2019 Special Inlet Pinball Podcast, end of year special, holiday special. I couldn't think of anybody that was more suited to end the program tonight than with Roger Sharp. What a great, great person. Yep. You know. Yep. Father of pinball. Dwight, you know him for a lot longer than we have. Yeah, I've known Roger for a real long time and he's all class. Yeah. The thing I appreciate about Roger is that there's not any, I can't find anything wrong with Roger Sharp with pinball. I mean, he's the perfect person to represent pinball. He's brought so many different licenses and themes into pinball. Just given so much to pinball in general. I think about his family that's carrying, I don't want to say carrying a torch because Roger's still very much involved, but just generationally, that pinball family is going to keep going and going and that family is growing. The Sharps could very well be carrying pinball like a legacy or a dynasty. And I think it's so super important. So guys, I mean, not to get sentimental here, but I just had a great time spending these moments with you guys and listening to all these people, these great influential people that are in pinball. There were a few people that just weren't able to contribute just because of changes of schedules or obligations, and it just didn't work out. Open party, show Meet me, join me,なんて 忍 Good evening, it's January 16th, 2019. Atlanta City, RC For 2019 as the core podcast group here, I want to take this opportunity to thank Dwight Sullivan, who really, Dwight, I've talked about this before, but when we were getting into podcasting, I mean, you were our first interview and you trusted us enough with your stories and with your dedication to pinball and allowing us to kind of relay that to our listening audience as we were trying to build it. Here's John Bob Beng어진 forяетneedy189 For Fantastic Bird Boys stukovodio I just wanted lectin' Yeah, what also went right is I had taken some notes from the previous room.lageoncha, elements' We have to the central and let's go door on outlet Tony brojae We're proud to have you as a friend and definitely miss you. So, you know, got to get you out a little bit more often. That's... He's been buried in the books with his next pin. Whatever that is. He's been, you know, while one person's cleaning the microwaves, you know, Brian's got that, Dwight's got tables, and it's just been busy. Yeah. So... That's all right. 2019 will be different. They've hired a lot of people that eat, you know. I know. On the same token, I want to take a look to my right and look at this guy that, you What is my podcast partner? And when I had originally thought of the idea of the show and I had spoken to Bill and I said, you know what, let's continue our pinball stories, our pinball nights. And, and would you consider, would you consider through sickness and health, you know, just doing a weekly show with me and let's just see where it goes. And I remember us having this goal where we said, if we could only have 50 or a hundred people that would listen to what we do, we would do it. We'll see you next time. We'll see you next time. We're not taking that poll, so it doesn't matter. It's been a blast. Honestly, it's been such a ride. When we started this, you know, back in like June, you know, setting this all up and then having Dwight on, we didn't imagine it was going to go this far. So it's just been very... Think about all the people that we've had an opportunity to kind of associate ourselves with and have conversation with because of our podcast. And I think that's totally cool, too. I mean, Dwight kicking it off. I'm telling you, Dwight, I don't know that we have the credibility that we have if you didn't And you're saying that you might think that, but you're wrong. I mean, this is Dwight frickin' Sullivan. Yeah, you heard Martin and Ryan. They don't give a ****. No, that's Ryan that doesn't give a **** about you. Martin appreciates you. Oh, right. No, I'm kidding. You know what? I mean, if those guys are anything, they're honest and they're fun and, you know, for Ryan to be like, hey, I want to interview Dwight Sullivan 2019, that's my resolution. I mean, that's a pretty big deal. One thing we've noticed is with the podcast, we have our colleagues and people that we look up to. There's really nobody to mentor us throughout the way. We do what we can regardless if we win a Twippy Award in 2018 or whatever. I mean... You mean a Razzie for most terrible podcast, right? Twerpy. Is it Twerpy? Twerpy is the coast to coast. I mean head to head. Oh, right. Those guys. So yeah. So I mean, it's good. And the relationships that we've developed along the way with all these different people The pinball community is so passionate and so nice. It's, there really are, you know, it's, it's, it's easy to, to become friends with people. Do you remember how we met? On PinSide. Yeah. I had left a message in a forum and Dwight contacted me in response to that message and we realized that we were both in the same town and that's how you got absorbed. I became one of the newer members of the St. Charles Pinball Club. Yep, that's me. Can we do a quick little shout out to our boys, St. Charles Pinball Club? Absolutely. Who have been so supportive of everything that we've done and I mean literally if we didn't have that club, we wouldn't be doing this right now. So, you know, I don't want to get specific with the names of everybody that's in that club. You all know who you are. Yep, all 300 of them. All 300 of them. It would take a long time. But yeah, so I mean, hats off to those guys too. Yeah, we got to make more time to play more pinball with them. That's one, yeah, agreed. And I think some of those guys need to take some more time to play pinball with us. Don't forget to take some time out of your day to play some pinball. Before we wrap this show up, we're going to go ahead and we're going to offer our 2019 Ken, thanks for joining us. We're going to be talking about 2019 resolutions and our 2019 predictions. And we are going to start first with a Dwight Sullivan. Thanks, Ken. First of all, I want to start off by thanking you guys, the two of you, and all the other podcasters and streamers and everyone else that's helping to grow the pinball community. That's I think a big part of the growth that we've seen is from people like you. And thanks. Thanks to everybody else in the pinball community world. I really appreciate it. Thank you, Dwight. So my predictions and resolutions are pretty short and simple and I'm basically just going to echo what we've heard from the last 30 people. My resolution for 2019 is to go play more pinball and play more pinball with my friends. I haven't done that much in the last few months and it really sucks. So I'm going to go do that a lot more in 2019. I promise you guys. In my prediction for 2019 is the same as I've heard from, you know, like many of the people we just listened to is that 2019 is going to be a blockbuster year for pinball. It's going to be interesting from day one all the way to the end of the year. And that's just not what I know from Stern. Stern has a lot of cool things planned for 2019, but I think the other companies do too. I think the podcasters have cool things planned. I think the streamers and everybody and Jack Danger all have cool things planned, and I think there's not going to be a dull moment the entire year. That's my prediction. You just freaking got me pumped up. Yeah. Honestly, I just fist bumped a Dwight Sullivan and I'm going to fist bump a Bill Webb because that psychs me up, man. I love hearing that. Yeah. That was awesome. Nicely said. What you got there, bad boy Bill? Can you compete with that? No, I can't because Dwight kind of encompassed everybody from podcasters to pinball enthusiasts and everyone under the sun and all the people that make great pinball and are in the hobby and everything else. And I want to say thank you to our listeners. Without them, without listeners, we wouldn't be doing this. So resolutions, honestly, take more time to start working on some projects that I kind of stalled out on here. Justin abram Target pinball Network world spread this hobby höher goal hires w knows mall few 0 more title once thatfits Again, we talk about echoing sentiments and, you know, I think I kind of extended my thanks as we led into this end of the end part of the show. But prediction wise or resolution wise for me, I've always been one that that gets a machine and I'm excited about it. And the chase is such a big deal for me. And then when I get that machine and I play it and I think I see everything I can or I put up a high score, I tend to not want to keep it around as much and I want to move something else in. And so this year, what I want to do is I want to fully appreciate machines for what they are instead of moving them along abruptly for the next game. I want to kind of slow pinball down for myself and enjoy it. And as far as predictions go, I think the common theme that we have that I really appreciate is resurgence of pinball. And because of social media and tournaments and location pinball all coming back, pinball So to be able to see this, this thing that I love grow new legs and take on a new life is very exciting for me. And I'll also go ahead and I'll say this. 2019 will be the biggest year in pinball in this century, only surpassed by 2020 because I absolutely see pinball on the upswing, not temporarily, but for the long haul. Yep. I agree completely. I think pinball is going to grow for a long time from now. We haven't seen even close to the end. It's been a fun ride today, gentlemen. We're going to close out the special when lit pinball podcast holiday special. Before we do so, I want one more person to chime in here, and that is professional voice actor, friend of the show, Marc Silk, who did our opening. Tremendous job getting the show kicked off. He's got a New Year's prediction resolution for 2019. And folks, this guy needs to be involved in pinball. That voice needs to be in pinball and this guy does a lot of stuff. So Mark, if you don't mind buddy, let's get those predictions, resolutions and let's close out the show. Everybody, thank you so much for listening. Can't wait for 2019. So long. Hello Special When Lit. I'm Marc Silk. I'm a voice actor for Star Wars and Animation and Games based over here in the UK. And my prediction for 2019 is another year of great sound in pinball. You haven't played that game until you've heard the sound turned right up to 11. Great sound design takes a game from being just a good game to something truly immersive. This year I loved the sound design in Dialed In. What a treat to play that was. And also what we heard in Deadpool. What an inspired use of sound. The shout outs and its use of music was so cool. It is pretty rare for a pinball machine to make you laugh out loud. That's exactly what Deadpool and Dialed In did for me. Meanwhile, my 2019 pinball resolution is to fly over to Texas Pinball Festival, turn all the machine sound up really loud, and who knows, maybe meet Eddie Munster. Thanks Ken, thanks Bill, I really enjoyed the show. Here's to a great holiday and an even greater 2019. Ho ho ho! For Ken Cromwell, Bill Webb and Dwight Sullivan, I'm Marc Silk.
