You buy more pinball machines for home. Mine is to buy less and also to interview Dwight Sullivan, the big fish of the industry. I hope that he is reading this right now. And I hope he's never heard what you've said about him before. I love him. Yeah, he's awesome. New Year's prediction for 2019? I feel we're all going to get deep-rooted in 2019. What about you, Ryan? The feeling is mutual. Thanks, guys. We love your podcast and here's to many more. See ya. Bye. So good times. Ron and Bruce from Slam Tilt Podcast. We got a little Chris Kaluas from Kaneda's Pinball Podcast and then closing that out, Ryan and Marty from Head to Head. Oh, so that was Kaneda? I never heard him before. Oh, really? Really. He's a very polarizing and I don't know, controversial podcaster. Oh, all right. Yeah. Have you heard Slam Tilt Podcast? Slam Tilt's been around forever. They arguably pioneered the podcasting community, and they vowed to kind of take a little bit of a break. You heard it in the prediction. You're going to hear a little bit less of them in 2019. They're putting the brakes on a little bit and holding back. I like that they're thinking about Star Wars or Mousin' Around. Mousin' Around's an underrated game, I think. Yeah, that's perfect. That's good. And in closing, we had... Ryan and Marty. The big dogs. The heavy hitters. Well, Ryan wants to go ahead and his New Year's resolution is to interview a Dwight Sullivan. So Dwight, how do we- So I think he needs to pay me money now to make that happen. Right. Well, they do have Patreon set up, so probably specifically for this type of a situation. They said, you know, 20 bucks and yeah, I can be an interviewer. Is it 20 bucks? Isn't that what you paid me? Well, you owe me 30 because I thought it was a gift card to Olive Garden or something. Sure. Okay. I'm easy. Yeah. Burritos keep coming up. Yeah. I'll tell you, the burritos are colder in the wintertime and the fact that Bill's transporting those in coolers. Hey, you know what? When you have a 10 minute ride back to work, you get a cooler, you throw them in the cooler and you wrap them things and you're good. Stern has lots of microwaves, so we're good. Yeah. Clean by Brian. A plethora. Brian Eddy's been on that microwave wall just recently as a matter of fact. Right. This is Eric Minier, game designer from Jersey Jack Pinball, designer of Pirates of the Ken asked me to take a moment and give my insight into 2019 and really what It's been said that the best way to predict the future is to invent it. And I can tell you that at Jersey Jack, we are inventing it. And I wouldn't buy anything until you see our next game, as it'll really be something special. Promise. In fact, 2019 will bring more than one new game from Jersey Jack Pinball. And I just wanted to wish on behalf of me, and everybody else at my company, I'm your host, Eric Menier, and I hope you're having a great day. I'll see you next time on Pinball Podcast. Take care. So, interesting remarks there. One, Eric Menier sounded like he was on like a secret spy mission and he was ducked into the corner, not allowing audio to travel down the hall where he might be intercepted by the enemy under enemy lines. I feel I'd actually love to have done it even if I was formerly a portable remote-controlled Poly行ic . Whoa! Oh man, this is going to be your best. I am the only one using it right now. Well, given the internet that's in our system because this isn't a very oranges-and-beots version of sitcom, I'll say, what, when you don't actually, unless you're a Not-B palate user, you're just trite polygrams, little-file characters posting on a platform in the middle corner of Concord Field Hall and Erin investor Phil. Next, and then the thing that really intrigued me was this. Two games. Two games in 2019, which leads me to believe now, where I didn't think it was going to happen, I think there's going to be a reveal at Texas Pinball Festival, because with deeproot bowing out, guys, who's going to control the show? And at least this isn't a pinball news segment. Let's go to Dwight. Dwight, what do you have to think about this? I think you're right. I think they will come out with something in March, and then Jack's already said in another podcast that he wants to do a release every nine months. So if they do it in March, then nine months later maybe another one. That was, for the record, the head-to-head pinball podcast with Ryan and Marty. That was a Ryan interview where he said, thank you. Two games, or a game every nine months. Bill, what are you thinking? Looking forward to that. I think they make a great product. Jack just seems like a genuinely awesome guy. I mean, we had a chance to meet him and super fun guy. Yeah, yeah, yeah. So good, good things to come from them. Yeah. So hey, hey, that's exactly what this show is about. Eric, I completely agree with Eric. I just want you were about to move on. I am. Eric and he said he wants to meet more people in the industry. And I would Eric's one of the people that I would love to meet next chance I get. Oh, I so that's it. And it's ironic. You guys work like a mile and a half away from one another. Yep. Yep. Maybe you maybe you know, it might it might take it might wait till October but Or why don't we just meet up for a Portillo's lunch? I love that idea. That'd be fun. We'll figure that out because you guys are two of my favorites, although Dwight, you are my ultimate favorite. Of course, because I'm sitting right here. I love you. We like you that much more every time we see you, so you got to come out more. That's how that works. All right. They call me Zombie Yeti, but you can call me Zombietti. Hi, I'm an illustrator with a heart of gold. I try to make art stuff that I don't hate, and you may have seen some of my work recently after a big holiday meal. Long ago I was once known as the guy who made pinball art that costed you the monies but never got produced. Thankfully that ain't the case no more, as recently I've been fortunate enough to create art for the heavies at Stern Pinball that actually have been produced. So now that you know who I am, I can safely assume you respect me and care greatly about my opinions. As such, I shall now share some of my innermost private thoughts and wishes for this coming new year ahead. I'm personally wishing that 2019 is chock full of more great pinball podcasts than you can shake a stick at, as well as ads and product placement throughout said podcasts. I wish for endless speculation on what will be the next big pinnacle of suck on pin side. Will it be something I worked on? I hope so. As for pinball predictions for 2019, I'll be serious for a moment and say that I foresee nothing but disappointment and sadness. I see many a keyboard beaten with sad rage and soaked in a never-ending sea of tears throughout the year as every new machine is revealed. But enough about pin side. I also predict that 2019 will bring in the era of the original holiday themed non-licensed pin. The world we live in. 2019 will bring plenty of great pinball and no doubt plenty of hubris by companies looking to make a splash while ultimately disappointing on said outrageous braggadocious claims because, well, reality is a thing. I also see a ton of good times to be had at various pinball shows throughout the year Outro All the best in the future I also appreciate your patience and ability to understand satire and not be so hasty to sue when someone's obviously just making a joke. That's awesome. Jeremy. I don't know where to begin. More. He hates podcasts. More podcasts. He hates pins. He doesn't stick it. So guys, wait, wait. I talk with Jeremy quite a bit and he doesn't hate podcasts. He doesn't hate pin side, I don't think. He just likes to riff on whatever's happening. He likes satire. He likes coming up with little one-liners. He's just who he is. Is there ever like a serious moment with a zombie? I've never seen a serious moment with Zombietti. In my short interactions with him, I have not either. No, he's always been just off the cuff. He's throwing it out there. I have trouble keeping up with him because I like to be the guy that's coming up with little stupid things that are said and people chuckle at and then make fun of me later. So when he and I go to lunch together with like five other guys, they make us sit over in the corner. Ironically, that was the first submission I got on the show, and that kind of set the bar for me. I was like, oh man, this is going to be pretty interesting. So Jeremy, thank you so much for the entertainment value, and I'm interested to see... dude, take a break, man. Like, take three days off. Yeah, go on vacation. Stop illustrating pinball for three days. Yeah. You know, relax. You owe it to yourself. No? Dwight? He does. He absolutely does. Hi, this is Zach Sharp, Director of Marketing for Stern Pinball, and I cannot confirm or deny what my resolution or predictions are for pinball. Just kidding! Actually, I think this next year is going to be incredible for pinball exposure to the world. The Stern Pro Circuit, I can't wait to see what we have in store this March and the 2019 season. And the Stern Army continues to grow, and I can't wait to see what pinball has in store. Happy holidays to everyone, and thank you Ken and Bill for everything you guys do. I'm Tanyo Klyce, and I'm a game developer at Stern Pinball. My prediction for 2019 is that the TOTS division for pinball tournaments is going to become a thing again. Maybe a big money thing, we'll see. I don't know if betting is... We probably shouldn't talk about that. My resolution for 2019 is to practice pinball and get better again, and also to learn the The rules of all the games that are not Deadpool that we've made since I've been making Deadpool. I have a lot of catching up to do. Well, first I'd like to thank all the people here at Stern Pinball, all the people I work with, George Gomez in particular, and Zombietti. It was just incredible working with that team and all the guys on our team for Deadpool. It's really fulfilling to work with very talented and passionate people. So, and then I'd like to, I'd also like to thank the folks at the Pacific Pinball Museum who helped me, kind of got me re-hooked into pinball back in 2007 or so. Michael Sheese, Dan Fonce, and Jim, and also Wade Krause and Dirty Donny who, they were my collaborators on the first pinball project I did which was the customization of Earthshaker into Metallica Pinball. And I especially like to thank all the people out there playing pinball and all the new people coming in and all the people who are, you know, everybody playing and enjoying the games. I just, it's been incredible being part of watching this huge growth that's happened since 2008 of the whole pinball industry and the pinball hobby and the pinball everything. I'm looking forward to watching it continue to blossom and grow and slowly take over all forms of media. Hi everyone, Steve Ritchie here. In 2019, I am hoping that pinball players everywhere get the machines they want and that the excitement, fun, and fellowship generated among pinball players, friends, and families remains positive. The holidays are a time when kids might be their happiest and most excited. Few things make me happier than seeing kids playing pinball as part of celebrating the holidays. I predict that we will continue to see an increase in pinball fans and players in 2019. I want to thank pinball fans for staying in touch and being enthusiastic about our favorite pastime. I wish you all the very best for the coming holidays and I recommend that you play better. This is Gary Stern sitting here with George Gomez. Hello everybody. I'm making a prediction and a resolution. My resolution is to continue to make great games for the next year, and my prediction is that George will continue to make great games for the next year. Ah, you stole one of mine. My resolution was to continue to make great games. Well, it's still your resolution. It's still your resolution. It's still my resolution. We are resolved together to make great games. And my prediction is that everyone is really going to like the next Stern game. Oh, I should have said that. That's my prediction. I should have said that. But he's right because I've been playing. He's right. There you go. There's our resolution to the prediction. So, happy holidays and merry Christmas everybody. And I need to very much thank all of the people that work here creating these games, building these games, accounting for these games, all the things that make a company work. There's probably 350 people in this building today, all working very hard to produce games for you all, and we have to thank you all for your support. So happy holidays and thank you very much. I want to thank everybody out there for their enthusiasm and their passion for the games. It really kind of makes what we do feel worthwhile. So thanks and happy holidays. So I, you know, I saved that for the end of the show because there were so many things that were impactful that was discussed or that were discussed during that. And to hear the passion of a new Tanyo Klyce as far as like getting control of his own game for the first time and just to hear his excitement and everything that had gone into that game and the passion and for him to be appreciative and optimistic I thought was huge. Number two, I mean, listening to Steve Ritchie, Steve Ritchie, who a lot of people don't know on a personal level. And we've I mean, Dwight, you know, Steve better than any of us here, obviously. But to kind of hear him have a soft heart about hearing how kids and playing pinball softens his heart around the holidays and then ultimately reminding you to play better, I thought was impactful. The Out Pinball Podcast is brought to you by Pinball Brothers. Both of your thoughts on all of those comments by all four of those gentlemen. I definitely want to jump in on one thing with Steve saying it warms his heart to see the kids playing pinball. So definitely over Christmas, guys, fire up the machines, get more kids into this, let them play it. If they break it, that's what they're meant for, but got to get more kids involved. Steve MOur toutes you you so you can't really think about Steve Steve having a soft spot but he does and and you know it I agree with him completely when you see kids play your games it's it's awesome it's it really is yeah I had a side conversation during that recording session at Stern and I had told Tanyo when we were sitting down I said listen I you know I got a deadpool here and of all the pinball machines that I've had come in and out of this house over the Whip man An adult-oriented theme because she never would have experienced that. And because of that machine that George and Tanyo and a whole team at Stern put together, I've got a three-and-a-half-year-old now that's passionate about pinball. And for those of you that are listening, it's about the next generation. Our generation and the generation before us will fizzle out. And with the resurgence of pinball that's going on right now, it's all about the next generation. Hi, this is Roger Sharp, probably best known as being the father of Josh and Zach. In 2019, wow, I hope that I can continue to play pinball and be halfway reasonably okay. But more importantly, my prediction for 2019 is that pinball is going to continue to grow and be as popular and as successful as it has been for a long time. Happy holidays. Happy New Year to one and all. So Roger Sharp closes out the program, the 2018 into 2019 Special Inlet Pinball Podcast, end of year special, holiday special. I couldn't think of anybody that was more suited to end the program tonight than with Roger Sharp. What a great, great person. Yep. You know. Yep. Father of pinball. Dwight, you know him for a lot longer than we have. Yeah, I've known Roger for a real long time and he's all class. Yeah. The thing I appreciate about Roger is that there's not any, I can't find anything wrong with Roger Sharp with pinball. I mean, he's the perfect person to represent pinball. He's brought so many different licenses and themes into pinball. Just given so much to pinball in general. I think about his family that's carrying, I don't want to say carrying a torch because Roger's still very much involved, but just generationally, that pinball family is going to keep going and going and that family is growing. The Sharps could very well be carrying pinball like a legacy or a dynasty. And I think it's so super important. So guys, I mean, not to get sentimental here, but I just had a great time spending these moments with you guys and listening to all these people, these great influential people that are in pinball. There were a few people that just weren't able to contribute just because of changes of schedules or obligations, and it just didn't work out. Open party, show Meet me, join me,なんて 忍 Good evening, it's January 16th, 2019. Atlanta City, RC For 2019 as the core podcast group here, I want to take this opportunity to thank Dwight Sullivan, who really, Dwight, I've talked about this before, but when we were getting into podcasting, I mean, you were our first interview and you trusted us enough with your stories and with your dedication to pinball and allowing us to kind of relay that to our listening audience as we were trying to build it. Here's John Bob Beng어진 forяетneedy189 For Fantastic Bird Boys stukovodio I just wanted lectin' Yeah, what also went right is I had taken some notes from the previous room. lageoncha, elements' We have to the central and let's go door on outlet Tony brojae We're proud to have you as a friend and definitely miss you. So, you know, got to get you out a little bit more often. That's... He's been buried in the books with his next pin. Whatever that is. He's been, you know, while one person's cleaning the microwaves, you know, Brian's got that, Dwight's got tables, and it's just been busy. Yeah. So... That's all right. 2019 will be different. They've hired a lot of people that eat, you know. I know. On the same token, I want to take a look to my right and look at this guy that, you What is my podcast partner? And when I had originally thought of the idea of the show and I had spoken to Bill and I said, you know what, let's continue our pinball stories, our pinball nights. And, and would you consider, would you consider through sickness and health, you know, just doing a weekly show with me and let's just see where it goes. And I remember us having this goal where we said, if we could only have 50 or a hundred people that would listen to what we do, we would do it. We'll see you next time. We're not taking that poll, so it doesn't matter. It's been a blast. Honestly, it's been such a ride. When we started this, you know, back in like June, you know, setting this all up and then having Dwight on, we didn't imagine it was going to go this far. So it's just been very... Think about all the people that we've had an opportunity to kind of associate ourselves with and have conversation with because of our podcast. And I think that's totally cool, too. I mean, Dwight kicking it off. I'm telling you, Dwight, I don't know that we have the credibility that we have if you didn't And you're saying that you might think that, but you're wrong. I mean, this is Dwight frickin' Sullivan. Yeah, you heard Martin and Ryan. They don't give a ****. No, that's Ryan that doesn't give a **** about you. Martin appreciates you. Oh, right. No, I'm kidding. You know what? I mean, if those guys are anything, they're honest and they're fun and, you know, for Ryan to be like, hey, I want to interview Dwight Sullivan 2019, that's my resolution. I mean, that's a pretty big deal. One thing we've noticed is with the podcast, we have our colleagues and people that we look up to. There's really nobody to mentor us throughout the way. We do what we can regardless if we win a Twippy Award in 2018 or whatever. I mean... You mean a Razzie for most terrible podcast, right? Twerpy. Is it Twerpy? Twerpy is the coast to coast. I mean head to head. Oh, right. Those guys. So yeah. So I mean, it's good. And the relationships that we've developed along the way with all these different people The pinball community is so passionate and so nice. It's, there really are, you know, it's, it's, it's easy to, to become friends with people. Do you remember how we met? On PinSide. Yeah. I had left a message in a forum and Dwight contacted me in response to that message and we realized that we were both in the same town and that's how you got absorbed. I became one of the newer members of the St. Charles Pinball Club. Yep, that's me. Can we do a quick little shout out to our boys, St. Charles Pinball Club? Absolutely. Who have been so supportive of everything that we've done and I mean literally if we didn't have that club, we wouldn't be doing this right now. So, you know, I don't want to get specific with the names of everybody that's in that club. You all know who you are. Yep, all 300 of them. All 300 of them. It would take a long time. But yeah, so I mean, hats off to those guys too. Yeah, we got to make more time to play more pinball with them. That's one, yeah, agreed. And I think some of those guys need to take some more time to play pinball with us. Don't forget to take some time out of your day to play some pinball. Before we wrap this show up, we're going to go ahead and we're going to offer our 2019 Ken, thanks for joining us. We're going to be talking about 2019 resolutions and our 2019 predictions. And we are going to start first with a Dwight Sullivan. Thanks, Ken. First of all, I want to start off by thanking you guys, the two of you, and all the other podcasters and streamers and everyone else that's helping to grow the pinball community. That's I think a big part of the growth that we've seen is from people like you. And thanks. Thanks to everybody else in the pinball community world. I really appreciate it. Thank you, Dwight. So my predictions and resolutions are pretty short and simple and I'm basically just going to echo what we've heard from the last 30 people. My resolution for 2019 is to go play more pinball and play more pinball with my friends. I haven't done that much in the last few months and it really sucks. So I'm going to go do that a lot more in 2019. I promise you guys. In my prediction for 2019 is the same as I've heard from, you know, like many of the people we just listened to is that 2019 is going to be a blockbuster year for pinball. It's going to be interesting from day one all the way to the end of the year. And that's just not what I know from Stern. Stern has a lot of cool things planned for 2019, but I think the other companies do too. I think the podcasters have cool things planned. I think the streamers and everybody and Jack Danger all have cool things planned, and I think there's not going to be a dull moment the entire year. That's my prediction. You just freaking got me pumped up. Yeah. Honestly, I just fist bumped a Dwight Sullivan and I'm going to fist bump a Bill Webb because that psychs me up, man. I love hearing that. Yeah. That was awesome. Nicely said. What you got there, bad boy Bill? Can you compete with that? No, I can't because Dwight kind of encompassed everybody from podcasters to pinball enthusiasts and everyone under the sun and all the people that make great pinball and are in the hobby and everything else. And I want to say thank you to our listeners. Without them, without listeners, we wouldn't be doing this. So resolutions, honestly, take more time to start working on some projects that I kind of stalled out on here. Justin abram Target pinball
